Do yourself a favor and take this class with someone else. This guy is all over the place and inconsistent with grading and isn't helpful during class at all. I'm not even entirely sure he knew what he was doing half the time.
Do the homework. Follow Lab note book format correctly (It is worth huge percentage). If need help, go to his office hours.
Gives you a solid foundation to prepare you for General Chemistry. Chemistry is a hard subject, and one thing i noticed was that many classmates were trying to "MEMORIZE" material instead of UNDERSTANDING the material. UNDERSTANDING the material will allow you to make better judgements on tests, giving you better scores.
Mr. Singh is a great instructor. This was my second time taking this course and chemistry is not my subject, but his teaching style and doing problems on the board made this course interesting and fun....
Great professor! A bit tough but, he is always available for office hours and is always willing to go over assignments problem by problem. If you follow the lectures and understand what you did in class you should do well in the homework and quizzes. There is a bit of work to get an A, but it is very easy to get a B in this class with him.
He is great instructor. I am not chemistry a student but he is very helpful, friendly and always willing to help you.
He is very helpful. In order to get A it would take work and make sure you understand your techniques really well. This class is mostly about understanding techniques, which repeated over and over through out the course.
He is very nice and friendly. Do good on lab notebook. quizzes are very similar to homework. good luck.
Very hard professor. Doesn't give out a study guide so basically on exams and quizzes, you are on you're own. I am a straight A student and I couldn't pass his class! I studied very hard.. asked for help many times, but, the teacher would never really help.
1B Lab is hard and require lots of effort but Mandeep makes it bearable. he is very nice and patient with you. tbh, i was the really scared about this class but he makes this class easy.i suggest you come to his office hours and ask him to check on your experiment for a better grade. exams are very hard. a B is not hard if you put effort and work.
This was a time consuming and hard class but professor Singh was really nice and made it easier. He explained the work throughly and always answered any questions. His office hours can get packed pretty quick but I definitely suggest going because he will help you fix any mistakes you made on the hw. He is by far my favorite lab professor yet!
Chemistry is difficult regardless of who teaches it, but Mandeep put in extra effort to ensure everyone understood the material before proceeding with lab. He was always easy going, making a less stressful environment, especially during the practical. Lacked in communication but is always available to bug during office hours.
Hardest class ever
Took him for Chem 3B. His power-points and lectures will teach you literally everything that you need to know. He is very thorough and goes at the perfect pace. You will leave class understanding exactly what you learned about in lecture. Only had about 3 homework assignments.
I had him for Chem 1B Lab and he does not care how hard you try, effort means nothing if you don't have the right answers. He's a really nice guy but as a professor he doesn't work with you on your grades at all. The experiments aren't too hard but the quizzes and post labs are brutal. Be ready to work from the beginning of the semester unit the end
Professor Singh was the worst! In lectures he showed a few of the problems on the board. Could barely understand of because of his accent. Does NOT give study guides! there are 4 exams & final (drops the lowest grade & replaces it with final) Curve does not help at all! I recommend taking Saihong Chen, (a 65% is a considered a C) his class its a D.
SINGH WAS A GODSEND. He was very helpful in and outside of class. He talks very slow which was helpful because he didn't breeze through prelab lec. but it could get annoying sometimes. Chem 1B is a VERY though lab but Singh made it bearable. As long as you do the work, you should get a high grade on your expt. Study for the tests and quizzes.
Worst prof Ive had. Would do problems on the board and get the wrong answer and would have to be corrected by the class. His accent made it hard to understand what he was saying. His tests had nothing to do with homework or lectures. Many people in my class failed. Only good part was that he bumped our grades up a whole letter at the end.
A hectic teacher and does not make sense.
The professor is great. Chemistry is a really hard class but if you study on your own time then youll be okay. If you dont show up to class and expect to pass the tests still, theres clearly something wrong with that mentality. His accent is acceptable and clear. I did not have issues and it helps that he speaks slow. Homework is online and easy
Tough grader. You have to show your work to get grades. Very respectful, caring and always ready to teach students. i think according to him students came to the college to gain knowledge, and it is his goal to make the subject as clear for the people as possible. Very calm and full of knowledge if you do your part to learn and don't miss class.
at first i was worried about chem, but mr. singhs lectures were simple and he explained hard and extensive concepts in a way that is easy to understand right away. he has a thick indian accent, but you can still clearly understand him. hes very nice, in fact, he let my class use flash cards, both sides, on three tests, including the final :))
Chem is a hard class, but Mr. Singh will try to teach it to his best abilities. He has an accent, but it is very understandable. Curves tests and lets us make flashcards on most of them. He is actually really funny, but there is lots of homework, no study guides, and he uses Iclickers (so attendance is a must), so take that with a grain of salt.
he will answer questions thoroughly but also very unorganized but i do recommend him because he is very helpful and lenient
Instructor Singh is very approachable and wants to make sure all the students understand the labs. If you aren't sure on the lab or calculations just ask he'll walk you through them.
Professor Singh was a good lab professor. He was often late to office hours, and not very accessible outside of class; however, if you stay on top of your work, you can use class time to ask him questions. Attend class, do the experiments, and make sure you understand them for the tests! Tests can be hard; study the labs thoroughly to pass.
Singh is an easygoing lab instructor. He is wiling to help and will walk through the calculations with you. As long as you do decent on experiments and bluebooks, you should pass. Exam 1 was the easiest but other exams were really difficult. I did poorly on exams but managed to pass due to the bluebooks.
Solid Prof. Drops your 2 lowest quiz grades. I do recommend you attend lectures or you will be lost. Bought the textbook, NEVER used it. Tons of homework, but they are pretty easy.
Great professor! His office hours were really helpful when I did not know how to do some homework problems. There were 3 short homework per week and quizzes every week. Lots of homework but it is understandable because of chemistry classes.
Chemistry is a difficult course as it is you have to work hard for the grade you want, but this professor really helped me understand the subject better. If you are lost in the course or confused on a lesson you can access him through office hours. I never understood chemistry, but this class was very helpful.
He's great! He almost made me want to minor in chemistry because I loved his class that much. The lectures are boring but has tons of information and easy to understand. He does assign a lot of homework but it's bearable and actually helps you understand the material a lot better. quizzes and tests are easy if you pay attention and do your homework
Mr. Singh is great! This was online Lab so it was easy the way it was setup. Half of the assignments were Labster assignments. The course has 3 exams (one hour each) and no quizzes.
Taking chemistry is scary but I'm glad I took professor singh. His tests were identical to what he went over class so as long as you take notes your good! He drops 2 of your lowest grades which helps. He also posts his lecture (if taking online) so you don't need to be present but watching lectures are mandatory for success.
Mr. Singh does his best to ensure that his students understand the experiments. He is so organised and would always remind you of due dates and what you will be doing each lab. He takes the time to explain the concepts and calculations. He welcome questions and help you in-class, through emails, and during office hours.
Mr. Singh is very nice and helpful. He goes over calculations and will ask repeatedly if we want him to repeat any steps. All the assignments were submitted online.
Professor Singh is an awesome chemistry professor. He thoroughly explains labs and important concepts/calculations. Do not miss class and ask for help when needed.
if you are confused or dont understand just go to office hours he will help you, his help can carry you throughout the semester. Also a nice professor.
Good teacher. Is caring and accessible to you outside of class. Overall would take chem with him again if I needed to.
Everyone's basing him off his character in the reviews. In reality, he is nice, but sucks at teaching. He goes by slides fast, a hard grader, and doesn't review everything the tests have. His notes aren't concise, and even tells students to rely on Google at times. A difficult class, you have to teach yourself. The teacher is only good one on one.
Singh is a nice professor and very easy-going but doesn't mean you don't follow instructions. He's considerate of his students especially if they need help or more time on something but definitely isn't a push-over. Do your work on-time and do your best and you'll do fine. If you don't like him then chances are its not his fault.
Chemistry will always be somewhat of a tough subject for some people, but I feel like as long as you go to lectures, tutoring, or office hours then you will be okay! His lectures were always very good and informational. Very easy to talk to and he genuinely seems like he wants to help, as long as you make that effort. Homework heavy but easy to do.
Mandeep is the best lab professor I have taken so far! He clearly explains the purpose of the lab and goes into the calculations in depth so everyone understands. It can take him a while to grade the assignments, but he isn't a harsh grader. The exams are pretty easy if you study and he gives feedback on what you missed.
Professor Singh is one of the best professors I've had! Chemistry has always been a subject I disliked, and when choosing who to take I was hesitant. Professor Singh made chemistry fun and easy for me to understand! I would definitely recommend him, he helps so much by giving you access to his PowerPoints, and multiple examples to understand.
This class was exam heavy(3 exams plus final) and quizzes every week accept the week of exam. Quizzes were short and on canvas, which forced me to keep up with the class material.
The class has 3 exams, no final, and 7 quizzes which are very simple on canvas. The homework assignments are great for preparing you for the exams and quizzes. I was able to get an A without ever having to read the textbook and the lectures he does are able to prepare you well. I'd recommend going to all the lectures but its not mandatory.
Professor Singh took the time to fully explain the experiment during the first hour of chem lab so that you knew what to do before you started. He was willing to answer any questions and repeat the steps of the experiment as many times needed and did it without making you feel dumb so definitely recommend him!
Homework, quiz, all online except exams which are in person.I stopped going to class bc lectures only confused me bc of how quickly he taught & didn't give good examples. I mainly relied on online homework & practice mode to study. 2 exams I got below 40% &another 60, but bc homework had extra credit and my quiz grades were good i passed with a 75.
Singh is your best bet at a 1B LAB prof, he gives actually good and useful feedback/help when you ask, very approachable during/after lab if you have questions. Very calm and grades easy, isn't as strict as other profs on sig figs (still be careful about them).
Mr. Singh is one of the best lab instructors I've ever had. He's easy to follow and he explains the calculations very thoroughly. The labs were pretty chill and easy to follow; if you finish early, you can leave before the period ends. He's willing to go over your homework if you have any questions, and he offers study guides for lab exams.
He's a good professor. Attendance isn't mandatory but recommended because he goes through the stuff in the lecture. There are 7 quizzes, one of which will be dropped, and they are online. There are 3 exams in total; they are in person. Homework is also online. Overall, he's a great professor. I definitely recommend him.
Not the worst but definitely not the best, graded hard for no reason, emotionless, lab feels super long because when you ask him questions he genuinely makes you feel dumb, expects you to know it. Make sure to sit by smart people b/c thats who your group members are, and it takes a big toll on grade Get salvador instead or Chen, avoid this guy tbh.
bros a cuck
DO NOT take this professor, even though I got an A he is so messed up. Legit does not care at all and is super aggressive everyone said he has changed and became super rude. he didn't show up to grade our projects, made. hard grader grade it, panchode
Came late to lab all the time and would never let you out early. Just avoid him, went to his office hours and he made it seem like I was dumb!
Panchoda was rude for no reason. and I am someone who is caring and looks for the good in people but this guy is just a weirdo. made me wanna switch majors
WORST professor I have had in my 23 years of life, please do yourself a favor and get someone else.
He is an AMAZING professor!! Super good at teaching and at explaining really well! After every lecture you get assigned homework due the next class but at midnight. Exams are super easy if you study. Highly recommend him.
Just avoid this guy, very passive agressive and just makes the class energy so. bad, grades so hard for no reason, took off 0.5 for no reaosn and sometimes even 0.25 a lot for the smallest things. Hated going to class even though I had a good grade. He also wants you to just know everything. my friends and I had a horrible time.
He wasn't bad or good. I thought he was really good at teaching in the lectures. You have to pay attention if you want to pass the exams. The quizzes were online and he did grade attendance. There is like 2 assignments assigned each week, it can easily get done.
This course was really tough. The professor graded super hard, and even with a lot of effort, it felt impossible to meet their expectations. Their feedback also came off as passive-aggressive instead of helpful, which made it harder to improve. The material was interesting, but the grading and feedback made it a really stressful experience.
This class was challenging, mostly because the professor graded so harshly. Even when I tried my best, it felt like nothing was good enough. Their feedback often felt passive-aggressive, which made it hard to figure out how to improve. It's frustrating because the material was actually interesting, but the way it was handled made it stressful.
This class was really difficult, not just because of the harsh grading but also because of how the professor handled questions. Whenever I asked something, they had a way of responding that made me feel dumb, which made it hard to want to participate or ask for help. The material was interesting, but the environment felt discouraging.
AVOID PLEASE
Dr. Singh first started off pretty relaxed but as we got deeper, he started to move to quick through his slides and would not give us time to write it down. He sometimes skips through chapters. He will randomly open attendance throughout the day. There are 4 exams and 1 final exam. 2-3 homework assignments weekly.
Just please dont take him he made my life miserable and was so rude for no reason.
this was a great lab. Make sure to do pre lab write up before lab. Course had 3 practical exams.
make sure to have lab bluebook done before lab. Easy grader on lab note books and experiments.
Chemistry is not my subject but Mr. Singh made it easier. powerpoints are posted on canvas in advance and he do many small homework assignments. SI hours were very helpful.
I am taking at night and it small class but great
Chem is a difficult course in general but just listen and study a lot and you will get out as much as you put in.
I am not chemistry student. But enjoyed taking lab with Mr. Singh. We had small lab so we always get done early.
AMAZING PERSON. Very helpful and will go over excel. You can finish excel and post lab during the lab so usually there is no homework.
Overall the class is just hard, just hit it hard from the beginning. Do all your homework because it actually correlates to lectures and it helps your grade.
Very easy going professor. Do pre-labs, post-lab and he will help you with the excel. Our calculation days were usually shorter days then experimental days.
I took CHEM 3A with Singh. He is great and very helpful. He do offers extra credits on exams and homework. He did curve the class at the end. going to class and online homework helped me a lot.
I am not a chemistry student but professor was very nice and caring. We had a small class at night so our group always finish lab early.
He is very good at explaining complex topics in simple terms. He tells you what will be on exams & what to study. He goes a little slow in my opinion but its helpful for some students. Iclicker app for attendance, easy points. Did all my HW late and still got a B, easy class but only if you attend every lecture. Nice guy, would recommend
Laid back professor who genuinely wants you to succeed in his class. There were three lecture exams, including the final, 3 to 5 online quizzes (one of which will be dropped), and homework posted online after every class that's due before the next class. The class is test-heavy, so try your best from the beginning and you won't regret it!
Definitely recommend professor Singh. He points out the main ideas or concepts that will be presented in our exams and also goes over several examples to make sure we have it down. His exams are usually not that many questions; they are in person, and his quizzes are easy. Overall just study and you should be okay in his class. STUDY!
Overall, he was a great professor, he tried to be as clear as possible and was open to questions. The only thing is wish he had study guides but as long as you study, you'll be good!!
Mr Singh was an Amazing professor. He made lab very easy and explains excel calculations very easy. I would take him again.
This class was fairly easy, there were 3 exams (including the cumulative final) and for all 3 the material which would be on there was pretty clear. Attendance is mandatory via the iClicker app and there is almost always homework at the end of the lecture. Overall, I would definitely recommend him as a professor, put in the time and you'll be great
Singh was great. Very caring. He will go over excel and calculations with class. Got A
Mr. Singh is very nice and helpful. I went to his office hours and we went off concepts and homework questions together. He also add extra credit questions on exams.
I took Mr. Singh in Spring of 2025. He is very easy going instruction. His lectures are very good. I highly recommend him.
I am currently taking him right now. He is very knowledgeable and give good lectures. He is caring and nice.
Professor Singh was a really chill guy but seemed kind of sad tbh. He always helped us finish class early when possible and changed my grade whenever I thought something was too harsh. His expectations weren't too high and there's one big group project, but I don't think I learned anything from his lectures
Unless you plan on atteneding every single class, do not even attempt to take. Not a harsh grader, but if you miss class you will be behind, and ALL exams are in the testing center. Take SI, you will not pass without it. He refuses to reply to emails, he also says he will grade your late work then never does.
Mr. Singh was a really good professor. There is 3 exams (including cumulative final) and all the material in exam is covered from his lecture. The Pearson assignment that are the homework assignment are much harder than the actual test. All his tests were pretty simple and I would recommend going over the lecture to study for the exams.
Professor Singh was very easy. In his lectures he said if something would be on the exam, and he let you use a notecard for each exam. 3 exams, including the final which is cumulative but focuses on the end of semester work. My homework grade was lower than my test grade just because I turned them in late. Super easy take prof. Singh!
Singh was amazing. He let you leave early on calculation day if you completed your calculations. I always use to check my calculations with him before turning it in and always got above 90%. 3 exam, timed unto 60 minutes. I would take him again.
Mr. Singh was a great Lecturer. His lectures are clear. He tells you what topic is going to be on exam. He do offer extra credits on Homework and exams. GREAT PROFESSOR.
