She is a great professor and she likes to share a lot of her personal experiences dealing with the subject. Sometimes, she tends to get off track, so make sure you pay attention in class. If you take notes during class and do your readings, you will definitely pass! She does give attendance quizzes and random quizzes which she will HINT about early
By far the worst professor I have ever had. She had no clue on how to conduct an entirely online class (posting threads instead of using a chat forum for our "in class" discussions). Granted she had a baby several days prior to the start of class, but she showed up to class late (45 min.) on several occasions. Haughty & condescening. Avoid!!!!
talks alot but test are pretty easy if you read over the notes.
She seems hard at first but she really is easy. you wanna get her morning classes bc she's 10-15 late everyday & she'll feel like she's wasting your time & give you extra points on your tests. she just had a baby so she'll sometimes bring her too class...haha cute baby tho. she talks alot so you better take notes fast. tests are from the notes.
She was an excellent teacher. She basically gives you the notes in class and the test are straight from the notes. The final exam was super easy and she gives extra credit. All you have to do is come to class, read your notes before the test, & you barely use the text book. Take here if your a freshman and can!
her tests come straight from everything she says in class. I would suggest reading the chapters but coming to class and taking notes is the most helpful. she can be kind of tough sometimes but as long as you come to class and study you'll be fine!
Prof. Bailey is a very smart woman. She knows her stuff. She gives alot of GOOD notes. All the tests were from the notes. She evens posts a really helpful outline. Good teacher. You should take her if u have a passion for government. Not an easy A but all in all a very good class.
She is a good Political Scientist and really knows the material yet has a hard time delivering it. She cares for her students but demands extreme respect and dedication to her class. She is VERY unorganized and runs late all the time with class, assignments, and email responses. She's pretty hard to get along with!!
cool professor outside the classes, but terrible as a teacher
By far the worst teacher I have ever taken! She should be avoided!
If you are the type of student who does not pay attention and study you will do really bad in this class. If you follow her lectures you will be fine. You have four test that are not easy but not hard if you study your notes. Mrs. Bailey was a great professor. I would take her again. I learned a lot.
She definately knows what she is talking about. I literally never had to study and got A's on all her tests. If you just pay attention in class, the most studying you will have to do is looking over your notes before the class.
Does not stick to schedule , does not answer emails, and is never in her office. She is by far the worst teacher in the Poli Sci department.
I almost dropped this class because I heard so many bad things about her. Once I met her, she really wasn't that bad. She tells you exactly what she expects, and if you don't do it, it's really your fault. Use your book for better understanding of your notes. Study and you'll be fine.
Always late, very disorganized, spends too much time trying to get people in trouble for using their cell phones, VERY VERY opinionated. Nothing she says is fact, all opinions. not a hard class, but I didn't learn anything and she's an annoying teacher.
The class was very simple. There's no assignments, papers, or projects, only tests. She lectures every class, and the majority of her tests are from her lectures, so attending class is mandatory if you want to pass, although attendence was not taken in my class. Take good notes and study them to pass the tests. I never had to read the book.
She DOES does call students out for cell phones and talking. However, she tells you exactly what will be on the tests and even holds a review the class before! If you pay attention in class, this will be an easy A!
THIS TEACHER IS AWFUL! She is extremely rude, will not email you back, is ALWAYS late, and is strict about cell phones. Her tests are multiple choice, but you have to choose the best answer...so sometimes all of the answers are correct but you have to choose the best one. DO NOT TAKE HER! HORRIBLE TEACHER!
Very knowledgeable of the subject, but take a no nonsense approach to cell use in class. If you come to class and take notes, you will pass the exams. Exams are majority multiple choice and one, your choice short essay. There were reviews before exams and also held a review outside of class schedule for the final.
Always late to class. She tells you what you need for the exams word for word. Class isn't mandatory as long as you get notes from someone else.
LOVED her! She's always late to class but lets you out early. Her tests are pretty simple if you come to class and take notes. Only a few multiple choice questions aren't from her lecture. She's hilarious and easy to pay attention to
She is okay. She doesn't use power point so all notes are from mouth. Don't take if you have trouble listening. She's super strict about cells and talking. I wouldn't take her again.
She sucks...and she's rude. She'll call you out in class for unnecessary reasons. She blows
Very easy as long as you show up and take notes. she never uses the microphone so if you sit in the back of the lecture hall its hard to hear her. she is always late to class. and is super strict about laptop use and cell phone use.
Dr. Bailey is a good Professor, being a Poli Sci major I went into her class already grasping everything that was taught, her tests are straight from her lectures but attendance isn't mandatory, if you miss class get the notes from someone else, it's a very manageable course but she tends to offer a lot of conjecture so be aware, I recommend her.
Dr. Bailey was an interesting teacher. She can come across kind of harsh but I found it funny. You could get by without ever reading the book.Four tests, all multiple choice with a short essay. Everything comes from lecture with the exception of 1 or 2 questions that come from the book. No powerpoints, you HAVE to take notes. I would take her again.
Take notes an study the study guide and you'll get an a. She can get a little boring at times but it's not too bad.
My second class with her. She is harsh and pretty wishy-washy. If you listen and take good notes you will do fine. She tries to over complicate the information, but its really nor difficult. She gets short when people ask the same question multiple times and is not very helpful when you email her. Disorganized; if that bothers you, don't take her.
This is an easy A if you come to class, take notes and refrain from using cell phones and laptops. She gives 15 min before class begins to arrange to make-up exams, or collect them from her assistant. I would not recommend this class to anyone who who can't go without a cell phone for an hour.
She is a very nice woman. Very understanding. Very knowledgeable about the material. But listen to me when I say this: STAY AWAY FROM HER ONLINE COURSE. PLEASE. I'm a senior with a 3.2, so I've had some tough teachers. This one right here, though? STAY AWAY!
I took this course online and it was AWFUL!! She does not know how to run an online course. She only uses announcements and email. There is no set schedule at all, she simply post an announcement saying that you have this assignment due in a week, and she clearly just randomly made the assingment up. DO NOT TAKE HER!
STAY AWAY! Heavy-handed with grading. Didn't use Blazview properly. 36 days to grade one paper. Grading criteria for papers were vague and at times LITERALLY NON-EXISTENT. She would rarely ever post lectures. She would just randomly post an announcement saying you have a paper due in 2 days. She will sabotage your GPA.
Easy A if you go through the material a day before the exam is posted. 4 essays per test was a bit ridiculous, which is why it takes so long to get the tests back (usually a month). Not sure why she chooses to test this way. No classwork, just essay tests. 2 days per test. If you are good at writing essays and skimming material then an easy class.
She seemed rude at first. She will not let you have your cell phone out and will call you out for phone use or talking. Her class is straight lectures. I thought she would be very difficult, but if you learn the basic material she's teaching, you'll be fine. She says that she doesn't post notes, but ended up posting material before every test.
This professor is super easy. May come off a little rude at first but she's cool. JUST LISTEN AND TAKE NOTES! That's it. Very simple. 4 tests I think, and they're all based off the notes you take in class. Sometime she'll put notes on blaze view and she gives you a study outline for what to study before every tests. Attendance not mandatory but go!
Very knowledgeable professor. She cusses way too much and its very unnecessary but besides that all is good. Her tests are her exact lecture. No surprises.
She is hilarious and lectures a lot, so taking notes is a total must. I am honestly one of those people who aren't good with listening and writing so I took this class as a challenge to improve that skill, which indeed worked. She did post notes online, make sure to look up vocabulary and special things she hints out. If you study, you'll pass.
Dr. Bailey is awesome. She's helped me so much! If you go to class, participate, and take notes, her tests are her notes and exercises. She will help you if you ask. I made an A. It's not much work other than a paper split up into three parts, midterm and final. She can be unorganized at times but other than that she's great!
Dr. Bailey is an incredible teacher. She inspires you to reach above and beyond. She will help you with anything if you ask. She loves people who can write good essays. She seems strict at first, but she's actually pretty cool and awesome after Pols 1101. Just strict on phones but just put them away for an hour. I would take her for any upper level
Dr. Bailey is great. Her lectures are interesting and she's really good at connecting the course to our lives. She can seem a bit tough sometimes, but that's normal for professors. Old school lecture style with NO POWERPOINTS, so I took this class as a challenge to better my note-taking skills. Made a 95 on first test and 110 on second. Take her.
She is really rude. I prefer to take this class with someone else. NO POWERPOINT, NO NOTES PROVIDED, NO NOTHING. You need to take notes by your self while she is just talking! On the other hand, she is very helpful if you ask her for a help don't worry. The exams come from the in-class notes. So if you take notes and study them you will pass them.
Dr. Bailey is an awesome teacher. Her class is very interesting and overall very easy. She gives you notes on every subject and gives you what terms you should read about. Your grade is only based on test, but most of the test do get curved. I loved this class, and would definitely take it again!
Professor Bailey was an awesome teacher, she is always late. She is very blunt about her teaching style & rules in her class. She gives 4 exams no homework. She does give out random points sometimes. Grade is based on exams. Please do not come late or have your cell phone out she will call you out. All together she is pretty easy. I would recommen.
Dr. Bailey was an amazing teacher. She gives great lectures and uploads all of her notes online so you can really pay attention to her when she teaches. She explains things very well and although she does ramble sometimes, she overall is very good at breaking down difficult subjects for easier comprehension. She is a tough grader, but is also fair.
Do not, I repeat do not take her for pols 3100 online! She is the grim reaper of online professors. Unorthodox and confusing in blazeview. She does not post grades in blazeview. The midterm and Final are minimum 8 page papers that you only get 24 hours to complete. Grading is unclear and at her sole discretion. Will not go out of her way to help.
I took this class because I had to. Bailey is funny but always rambles off and gets scatter brained. She does not explain things very clearly and can be extremely confusing and frustrating. I will never take her again. She's a hard grader and will have to ask multiple times to know exactly what she wants. NEVER take her online.
If you are a Political Science Major, you will take Dr. Bailey. Get on her good side by attending class and making yourself known. Be prepared for essay questions, random assignments and time constraints. If you do what the syllabus says, including participate, she'll make sure you get an A! Smart Lady, LOVES sports, one of a kind professor!
This was the hardest online class I have ever took. Course content is very unorganized & strays from the syllabus. She does not have consistency in her grading with no set grading rubric. She does not accept late work, no exception other the University approved. She is hard to get in touch with often has a belittling tone when you don't understand.
She puts the slide shows online.
I love Dr. Bailey's lectures and find her to be an excellent professor in that regard. I would recommend her to many, but I would like to warn prospective students that she misses a lot of classes. She usually notifies students beforehand, but there have been times when no mention is made. This can be tough for commuters. Great professor, though.
She's straightforward! You only have 4 tests. She posts ALL the material online. She does NOT allow electronics- she will call you out in class! Attendance isnt mandatory, but if you're not gonna go, have a friend in class to take notes for you. (what she says in class is the stuff she doesn't post online) so PAY ATTENTION and copy slides later!
Shes a good teacher, you will need your textbook to help you study but you dont have to do a ton of reading. As long as you show up, listen to her lecture and take notes youre good. She posts the slides for lecture but she leaves out a lot of info, therefore you should go to lecture to understand and know them. She tells you whats on the tests.
Dr. Bailey is a great person and really cool to talk to, but her teaching is terrible! She loves class discussions but they can become boring and tiring. Her exams are mainly essay questions and you have to know what's going on at all times. If you do not like to do a lot of reading or get out of track easily, do not take her.
only took 4 exams the entire year. over all the notes, no surprises on the exams. he 4 includes midterm and final, so techincally 2. Gives boost on grades.
she is very opinionated and wont let anyone have their own opinion in class. Your semester grade is made up of 4 tests, she words the questions differently then in lectures.
Dr. Bailey is the worst teacher Ive had since Ive been at VSU . She gave me failing grades for doing essay where I literally had to answer ONE question from each section and she expected me to answer them in like 3 pages !! We also dont get graded on a lot of stuff so if u fail the little bit of assignments she gives you , youre screwed .
This has had to have been one of my worst experiences in College. She is an awful teacher and completely biased. As a professor she is exceptionally unprofessional, her lectures for an online class are eight minutes long and include her crying child in the background. She has no grading rubric but the stupidest rules for papers.
Do not take this professor if you can help it. She is one of the worst professors I have had the misfortune of having in my entire college career. She is so biased about politics that it feels as if we are only learning about her personal preferences when we should be learning the lesson. RUNNNN. Get another professor.
She was a very hard professor and talked down to you like you are stupid. She says attendance is mandatory, but honestly you could skip. She randomly takes attendance and if you are there, you could get a little extra credit. She is completely biased on her political views and is very unprofessional. Would not take her again. At all.
Don't be all pitiful and sensitive about politics and she's great! Yeah, exams are worded carefully and are hard. I got an 82% on the last but I studied. Take notes on what she says in class then study the powerpoints later! Gives out extra credit like it's confetti, so go to class. Willing to answer Q's too! No excuses, even if she is hard.
Exams are the only grades you will receive in class and there is no homework or other assignments that will help your grade out. She kind of goes off topic a lot during class and I really didn't learn anything from her lectures. I basically had to teach myself from her powerpoints she posted.
Professor Bailey is unprofessional. From the first day of class, she talked down to us. She had no grades other than exams, and the exams were only about 30 questions. She never emailed me back about anything, and didnt even show up for the final. She would speak to the lecture hall with no microphone, and often said things under her breath.
She is very willing to help with anything as long as you ask. She is very strict on having electronic devices and will call you out and you can lose points on final exam. Attendance is important because she will mention things that are not on the PowerPoint. Her test are easy as long as you go to class and look over power-points.
Some tips in order to pass this course is to show up to every lecture, sometimes she gives bonus points if there is a low attendance. Lectures are very important because she will sometimes say things that are not included in the PowerPoints that will be on the test, also read the book and know key terms. Note cards really got me through this course
This was literally the WORST class I have ever taken. Your overall grade is only based off of FOUR tests, which she makes impossible to pass. On our third exam, she had to give a 17 point adjustment because literally everyone failed it. When emailed about grades and what we could do to help ourselves, she was absolutely no help. Take someone else.
First of all, government has never been my strong subject, and I still made an A. At the beginning of the semester, Dr. Bailey said that she doesn't do extra credit, but has given us so many opportunities to earn some extra points because of the COVID situation. Definitely have to read the textbook to help you study. Overall a good experience!!
She makes up her own tests which are good, but there are two similar answers that sound just alike. Your grade is based on three exams and participation which only counts if you participate in a majority of the posts and she accepts your answers. She does not always accept your answer even if it is right. Only take her class if you love lectures.
gets off topic. test are difficult. does not give out any study material, just hope that you wrote down everything to get yourself in the right direction to study the textbook. (ps when she is on topic she talks fast) does not give out extra credit.
Required reading and tests only. She seems very smart but is absolutely all over the place for lectures and doesn't really teach the material in my opinion. Provides tons of extra credit if you go to class. Slight curves. Test questions are worded strangely sometimes but they are open book. The material is easy
I loved her. Only graded on tests, and they were online, out of class. I passed with a high A, but I know many were barely passing. She hates late comers, and absolutely no phones. Plenty of EC for just showing up and participating. I'd take her again! Def college course, not HS level expectations.
entire class was based on four tests, but the class day before a test was just for going over questions we had. she gives a lot of extra credit just for participating in class. she doesnt take attendence, but if you dont show up you will miss a lot. overrall a good teacher i ended with a 93
Her classes do require attendance to pass the class. She dont give as many tests so you basically have to pass the ones she will give out to pass the course. STUDY for classes!
Her classes are very difficult if you don't show up to class! Make sure you always have your pen and paper in hand (you'll take a lot of notes). But honestly, she gives many extra credit opportunities and her lectures are engaging! There is four exams you'll be graded on, so take good notes and pay attention!
So far the worst teacher I have had. The content that she teaches is good however her style of teaching, rules, and especially her tests are absolutely horrible. The test questions often have multiple corrects answers and you must pick the one that she mentioned in class. Tests are designed to see if you have dementia, not your comprehension level.
Your final grade is based on 4 exams. She gives extra credit for participation if you attend department events and complete surveys. The lectures are long and tedious but if you listen and pay attention you'll pass the exams. Luckily she doesn't take attendance however if you do attend she has a STRICT no phone/devices policy.
She uses a textbook but I didn't buy one or do any readings. I didn't write any notes because she provided the PowerPoint before exams. Honestly go to class, pay attention, do the extra credit, revise with power points and you'll pass. Also, exams are online but she uses a lockdown browser so have your notes/computer ready. Also, she can be rude.
Your grade is based off of 4 exams. I failed the first, but managed to pass with an A on the final. She gives a little extra credit during class. If there is ANY event that she mentions for extra credit please go!!! Those points alone helped my grade a lot. No electronics in class, and try to avoid questions that are answered in the syllabus.
This was truly one of the easiest classes I have ever taken here. All you need to do is just show up to class and write down the slides. The tests are word for word from the slides. Attendance is not mandatory, and there is a textbook for the class. I did absolutely none of the readings and ended up with an A.
A lot of people say they don't like her, but honestly I had no problem with her. Her tests are kind of challenging, but they are all online so you can use your notes and other people in the class. She has a textbook, but I did not open it a single time, so don't waste your money on it unless you're and over achiever and want to read everything.
Dr. Bailey is a AMAZING lecturer and although attendance isn't mandatory you CANNOT pass without going. She does use a textbook that cost like 80 bucks, I made a 92 without it. If you are gonna buy it by the ebook for like 30. NO HOMEWORK 4 EXAMS.
The only people who don't like Dr. Bailey are freshman who aren't used to college yet lol. She's very passionate and intelligent and I loved her class. Her lectures were great, tests weren't too bad but they were also open note.
Dr. Bailey seems scary, but she is actually nice. Grade is composed of 4 exams ONLY, but they were easy. Attendance isn't mandatory, but the tests come straight from lecture so I suggest going and taking notes. She said she wouldn't give us the ppts, but ended up giving them for 3/4 exams. Exams are at home so you can use notes.
Dr. Bailey was a good professor. Lectures every day and grade is only 4 online exams. Attendance is not mandatory but it is very helpful because she does not always give you the powerpoints. Overall she is a fair teacher and I would take her again
I actually had Professor Bailey over at American University for Government 321 which was Congress and Legislative Behavior. She's very kind, accessible for office hours and even offered to proofread our papers for a major assignment before we submitted them. However, she can be a very strict grader and is very particular about what she wants.
