Very sweet, kind, and helpful! Will push back tests/quizzes if the class is lost. I cannot even explain how helpful she is! Easy going. Quizzes every week, practice quiz/test always on Blackboard. I suck at math and I passed it easy, just attend and write everything down, do some practices and you can't fail.
Not exactly the most experienced professor. Basically I had to teach myself by reading the textbook and by the help of other teachers. Frequently posts labs/reviews last minute. Very condescending personality, very unapproachable and is never straightforward with answering questions. I would not recommend.
She is really helpful, does whatever she can to help her students better understand the class material. The material is hard but thanks to prof Sekhon taking the time in and out of class to further clarify any problem areas, I'm doing pretty well in the class.
She is the best math teacher I've had so far. She makes it really hard to not pass her class because she tries to help everyone! She is just great.
Never responds to emails, her lectures are hard to follow and sometimes she doesn't even know what she is doing. Only good part is you can go to her office hours to review material.
She is really sweet and she love to see when kids try. She has a lot of energy. if you don't understand ask questions and ask to see examples, if not she WILL keep going. She is the type of teacher that likes to see her kids succeed, so show her you care about your future and she will show you the path to success.
Fairly easy class if you're willing to put in the effort. She teaches pretty fast and clarity can sometime be poor, but for being a lazy student I think she's a great teacher. Even though her sarcasm can be a bit hurtful at times.
Great teacher. Very easy going and has a sense of humor which makes class go by with an ease. Helpful and clear. Makes math fun and passable. Would definitely reccomend such an amazing teacher.
She is one of the best professor that I ever come across. Her class is so easy. I got an A in her class. I would definitely recommend this professor.
I really enjoyed taking Stats with Professor Sekhon. She gives really clear notes, and anything you don't understand, you can clear up with the book's examples. Her lectures are fun because she's always cracking jokes and is really easy going. I would definitely take another class with her.
Great teacher. She makes the class fun by making jokes all the time. You don't need to buy a book, she gives you lab worksheets that really help and walk you step-by-step through the material. You have three tests and a final, the study guides really help.
I loved this class. She was very helpful. You DONT need the textbook. She makes the class fun. The test are straight forward its either you know it or you dont. I suck at math and i go an A in her class. i would go to every office hour for extra help. i would recommend her.
If you need help, go to her office before class or hang out with her after class. Everyone has the potential to get 100% on all their homework, and that's 15% of the grade. All you have to do is before class, check your answers with hers. She's really nice and hilarious and she might tease you, but don't be intimidated, that's just her personality.
I loved Her. She was very helpful and very nice. Funny and made jokes about math. Knows everything about her subjects. You DONT need the textbook. The test are straight forward its either you know it or you dont. I suck at math and i go an A in her class. i would go to every office hour for extra help. i would recommend her. She's Awesome.
Awesome Professor, but if she promises donuts she won't buy them -_-.
The most amazing professor I took so far at Stan. She is very clear, helpful and funny! She makes learning enjoyable and the class is very easy as long as you study for exams and do all the homework. I recommend her to any students looking for a great math professor!
She was a terrible teacher. She messed up every practice problem she would do. Showed up late for class a number of times. Was useless when asked for helped, she didnt know the answers to any of her problems or how to do them. DO NOT TAKE!!
Sekhon explains all the material very clearly. We take 4 exams plus one final. She gives quizzes that sometimes end up being take home. You don't have to stay for the entire lab time she just checks them off and you can go once everything is correct. She can occasionally give you a bit of attitude, but besides that she is a really cool professor.
All around a AWESOME person and teacher!HIGHLY recommend!!
One of the best teacher i have ever took. She really wants her students to pass, she may seem hard at first. As long as you go to class everyday and take notes you will get an A. She is also really funny.
Overall a good teacher, wasn't very opened to help on questions but lectures were really clear. Fast paced talker!
Really nice teacher. She loves to tell stories . She teaches at a slow pace to make sure everyone understands. Willing to answer questions. Exams are easy and require minimal studying to pass. Stats isn't an easy class but she makes it a little fun
Condescending, rude, unfriendly, if you don't like to help student dont become a professor
Amazing professor. Go to class, pay attention, do the homework and lab work, and study. There is no reason anyone should fail. She answers any and all questions and she is hilarious. I got a high A in her statistics class (I hate math). She made this subject fun and interesting. I would definitely recommend this teacher.
Good Professor. Would be a great professor if she was actually on time.
She's a wonderful professor. She's very clear on what she expects and teaches the material very well. If you pay attention and do the labs you will pass. She can be rude at times and kind of offensive, but that shouldn't refrain you from taking her class. She is always late and cancels class often.
She is the best teacher I have ever had. She seems like she knows everyone personally. She knows what you can do and wont let you do any less. If you are an A student then you better do A work. She is very inspiring and made me believe in myself when all my other teachers didn't care to see what was inside. take stockton class.
This professor is very helpful. If there is something that you don't understand she is willing to help you during office hours. However she's strict if you miss a quiz or test day no matter what excuse you have so make sure you don't miss a class! Also, when you have a question you need to be specific on what you don't understand or she won't help
No book is needed. Homework is not given; she gives practice problems on blackboard and in class after a section is lectured. Lots of quizzes. 3 exams, one final. She is quick on her lectures and misses a lot of days but gives many examples for you to understand. If you follow her lectures and do the practice problems, you will pass.
She is intimidating but is a great professor. Lectures are clear, she doesn't give homework. Do the labs and pay attention in class and you'll be fine.
Made Stats super easy and fun!
This class was so easy, but enjoyable. She lectured on the material and then there were quizzes and tests. It's a really easy subject and she's willing to clarify anything confusing. Showing up matters because there isn't any outside material so you have to be there to learn.
Due to the lectures the class was pretty easy and since she provided midterm reviews the tests were easy
I recommend taking excursions into mathematics with her. She made sure her students passed by offering a lot of extra credit. I am not the best at math, and it was a bit difficult for me to understand, but she makes sure to not move on until you understand so ask questions if necessary. There were several quizzes a midterm and a final.
GREAT PROFESSOR... She makes you enjoy going to class shes very great to work with LOVE HER TOTALLY Recommend her.
I thought she was a really good teacher, her class was very difficult, but that is because stats is just hard in general. She always told us to come see her in her office so she can help, and the labs she gave were a really good study tool. She grades hard, but she tells us from the beginning she does, so it shouldnt come as a surprise. I recommend
Worst teacher to ever take as a college student. She is so mean and goes wayyy to fast on teaching. She won't slow down to help you. DO NOT TAKE HER. I promise you, you will not pass. It seems like she hates her job.
Professor Sekhon is a tough cookie but she really knows her stuff when it comes to Statistics. Her lectures are clear and understanding to learn but she grades harshly on exams/quizzes so watch out for what she hates when she grades, she'll tell you in the first few weeks what drives her crazy when grading. Other than that she's funny and great.
Prof Sekhon made Stats easy. She has a wonderful uplifting personality, in which I thoroughly enjoyed. You do not need the book, but you do need to practice. I practiced all of the labs (even though labs were not a part of my course) and practiced the practice exams numerous times. I did well in this class (97.09%) , but I also put in the work.
Prof. Sekhon is by far the best math teacher I have ever had. Her tests are straightforward and doable. Her lectures are a bit fast paced, but she does encourage that students ask questions. You don't need to purchase a textbook, and the labs are a great study guide. She even says that it is an easy A class.
Professor Sekhon is a great stats teacher, she is clear on what she wants and will dock you points for not giving her exactly what she wants. She is straight up with her students and will not feel any type of pitty for anyone. Great lectures and funny at times. Good professor in general.
Worst teacher to ever take as a college student especially if you struggle a little in math. She is mean and rude to you if you have questions about anything. Honestly DO NOT TAKE HER. You will be on your own in this class.
I thought I was going to struggle with this class because I hate math but it turned out to be a really easy class. But if you're not a fast learner you'll have more difficulty but she will help you out!
She's super energetic which is not common with most professors. You take 3 midterms and a final that is like a midterm. She is easy to talk to and is willing to help you until you get it. She tells some of her life stories which are hilarious. She grades tough on tests but it is very fair.
She was an amazing professor. I passed this class with an A and you can to. Keep up with all your work and she is open about answering your questions. She is very helpful and will sit with you until you get the lesson.
BEST TEACHER she is extremely clear in her lectures what she wants in quizzes and exams, will show you step by step how to do the material very nice and wants you to ask a lot of questions, there is no homework and there is take home quizzes when she cancels class VERY HUMOROUS and caring do the labs and take the time to study the material easy A!
Very nice professor. 100% reccomend. She is very specific in what she wants throughout the semester. I had her for stats and we had worksheets as homework, farely easy. 3 midterms and a final. She provides a study guide for all midterms so you have no excuse to not pass. Very passionate and funny. No regrets.
one of best teachers shes very straight forward if you get intimidated easily dont take her but her comments are super helpful & she just wants you to get it. it might sound mean but in the best way and shes quirky about how mean she could be. easy homework easy to get has midterm reviews which help A LOT do them 3+ times and youll ace tests
Professor Sekhon is full of energy and is very passionate about Statistics. Her tests werent super difficult. Just study the labs and do the practice exam. Also, utilize her office hours if you have questions or if you feel like you need help. Shes always there for her students!
She's the single best, most hilarious math professor I've ever had. She assigns a good deal of homework, but if you do it, the exams will be no trouble at all. She's a fairly strict grader, but will work with you in and out of class however she can to help you do well in her course. She really cares about her students, and I highly recommend her!
Honestly, I had a lot of fun in this class. The class itself is not bad at all, just have to study beforehand. Professor Skehon is 100% the best on the subject and is doing her best to help you out. You're graded on 4 tests, all of them are NOT cumulative. Homework is easy and if you are ever stuck ask her, she's very helpful. 100% take her!
Great teacher. Super clear on lectures. If you don't know what's going on you can ask.
Overall, great professor. If you're struggling ASK FOR HELP. As long as you understand the labs you should pass. Great lectures.
Professor Sekhon is such a great college algebra teacher. She is so funny and cares about her students, you can genuinely tell. The work load is manageable. Do not be scared to ask questions if you do not understand, she may be intimidating at first, but she genuinely cares, and loves to help her students.
She made Math 1070 super easy. She was really accommodating during the online transition due to covid. She uses MyMathLab through Pearson for homework which you do have to pay for. Her lectures do go by very fast so you need to write things super fast. If you ask her, she will slow down! Super nice too if you're on the waitlist she adds everyone!
She was amazing! Made stats actually seem fun to do! Gives feed back on all labs and homework and lets you resubmit your assignment for a better grade!
I took her a few semesters back and must say she was one of the best. Lectures are quick and she answers to any question. Quite picky when grading labs but if you study and use it as your guide, YOU WILL PASS HER EXAMS. I never use up the lab time (if you do it for homework). She doesn't care about attendance but you don't want to miss her class.
Professor Sekhon is a solid professor. You have to work for your grade, but this class is pretty simple. I took her during Fall 2020(covid times). If you have question she lets you text her! The course is consisted of 3 exams and 1 final. For lab assingments, you can submit them as many times until you get it correct! I reccommend her!
Im sure this class is better in person, online was alright. Homework due every week. Tests almost every week. Nothing too crazy, Recorded lectures were ok. She gives phone number to text about questions but sometimes she never responded. Overall not a bad class, i'm sure she's great for Face To Face classes.
The tests in the class made up 85% of the grade , quizzes 10% and hw(labs) were 5%. homework was given every week but was very manageable. She corrects the homework and sends it back until it is correct which is very helpful. The quizzes are very easy but the tests were a bit more challenging. There is a study guide for each test that helps.
Great professor, knows how to teach & explain the material well. If you watch the lectures & do your homework you will pass. She lets us know in advanced when we have an exam and provides example questions. Test arent too bad.
Easiest math class ever. her lectures videos are very clear and short. homeworks very simple and the exams are really just the hw problems. shes very nice and willing to help at any time. Easy A just watch the videos and take your time on the homeworks.
This class was a nightmare. She never stayed in contact in the class, and most of the time the homework and exams did not match the lectures. There was a time where she randomly ghosted the whole class for two or so weeks, and then pops up and dumps all this work on us.
She is amazing, this is the second class I've taken with her and she doesn't disappoint. She is very clear and always accessible, she loves math and will teach it to you in different ways until you understand. It was only 2 exams and the final, we had chapter homework, weren't hard and her lectures are less than 35 minutes long. She is great!
Made stats very do-able for me! Uploaded lectures on Youtube (COVID) & made everything very clear. Turn in labs as many times as you need, text her if you need! Work on your labs and pay some attention and you'll get an A!
She made the material easy to understand and gives lots of examples. i took her during the pandemic and I did way better than I thought I would. Make sure you do all your labs completely she lets you do corrections on them but not on exams so again pay attention and follow instructions. She's pretty laid back but knows what she's doing, I enjoyed.
Never answered any texts, emails, or canvas inboxes. Literally ghosted the entire class and sent out a few YouTube videos every few weeks. If you have questions, prepare to figure it out yourself.
Worst math teacher I have ever had, I found it baffling how little she cared about the class, posts a10 min. video and gives you a quiz next week with little examples of how she solves problems. She doesn't believe in extra credit so do well the first time. Your grade will come from tests and quizzes only. Ghosted the class for two weeks.
This professor does not care about the students grades at all. We sent her emails for weeks on going and no reply asking for her help. I was force to take this class since my other class had only a couple people and they just shut it down. What ever you do. Do not take this class unless you want to fail
Professor Sekhon is very easygoing and kind. The class I attended was hybrid. Despite the recordings, going to class was easier to fully understand the material. She answers questions well when confused. Homework is to be turned as pdfs and she will go back and forth with you until you get it correct.
This was supposed to be online and then she switched up on us to fully asynchronous and didn't even tell us we weren't gonna have any zoom meetings. She severely lacks communication with her students and gives us mixed dates for exams. The whole class was recorded lectures with optional homework. She takes about a month to get back your graded work.
Great professor and always gets back to you (even if it takes a while) If you ever have questions text her, she will always answer them. There's homework for this course but it's not graded, grades are based on tests. Math isn't my best subject and I held an A in the class. Make sure you take the practice tests, they help a lot. Not a hard class.
Manpreet was a good teacher and super nice however, she is very picky and a tough grader. If you're anything like me with sloppy handwriting and not a perfectionist, she is not the one you want. You have to have OCD to receive a perfect grade in the class.
One of the most difficult teachers I have ever worked with. Would cancel class regularly and not tell us until right before class. You could text her personal number and she would respond pretty fast. Lectures were weird structure because we would be covering the next test before we even took the upcoming one. A good student could work around her
If you are a commuter I think this class will disappoint you. She would cancel class 10 mins before it started or after it started. You are expected to watch lectures and then do practice problems in class which is very fast paced. She has a clear grading criteria so you already know how she will grade you.
She is pretty nice and will answer your texts but the class was a lot of information all at once with hardly any in-class examples on how to do the problems. I've always been pretty good at math until this class because her teaching style just did not work for me at all, all lectures are youtube videos you watch before class to complete the labs.
Worst Professor I've ever had. I believe she cancelled more classes than she attended. I gave up and just started learning the material online. Tests are online, multiple attempts, and not timed. Material isn't difficult, the teacher is. Her lectures are way too fast. The class is standardized. I wish I could type more- take any other Professor.
Manpreet was not that good of a teacher. She would cancel classes right before they even started. She is not good at communicating unless you initiate it. She would be going over material for the next test before we even took the coming up one. 50 question cumulative final. A good/determined student could work around her.
The lectures are pre-recorded & must be watched before class. The labs are the HW- the attached lab after class is used to do homework where it can be graded the same day. If you have messy writing beware. She's a great teacher explains things very well- offers help after hours via cellphone.
All I can say is that she is a tough grader; she doesn't like to deal with a little mistake we as students make. She gets mad, and when she does, she goes outside the classroom to "take some air." Then definitely has her favorites in her class
She teaches the subject well & is understandable, but she teaches fast so it can be hard to keep up. One lab per lesson but they are only worth 15% of your grade which is basically nothing. Exams can be difficult because she words them in a confusing way, they are worth 20%, final is 25%. The only way to pass is to constantly review practice exams.
DO NOT RECOMMEND! Teacher would cancel class 5 minutes prior to starting. Goes over class material too quick. Lectures are posted late. Professor doesn't answer messages nor emails. Easily the worst professor I've had.
Had professor Sekhon for 1601 & 1602. She can be intimidating & a hard grader BUT she cares a lot! Very helpful & nice if you ask questions. Easy access to communicate through text whenever. Will answer & help guide you with lab & exam problems as well. Lectures are prerecorded but does problems in class & are very easy to learn. Highly recommend!!
Super rude and always has an attitude, don't you dare ask a question on something she's already talked about or she will accuse you of not paying attention and tell you to look at your notes.
She will cancel class last minute, sometimes after the start time. She was 30 minutes late to class every single day so make sure you don't have classes back to back. Overall, very inconsiderate of your time, especially if you're a commuter.
I took her class for 1601-1602. She is a good professor but very unreliable. She canceled class almost once every week and only notifies you less than 15 minutes before class time. She even canceled class on the first day. Once threw a tantrum and walked out of class because students had a tough time understanding the concept....
I absolutely loved Ms. Sekhon! Her class consists of 3 tests and a final, each worth 100 points, which basically makes up your whole grade because the labs count for 1-2 points. Makes sure that you understand the materials and get everything right on the labs before submitting. Class time consists of going over practice problems and very thorough.
The material is duable but the tests are extremely hard and most of your grade. The homework is only 1 point but the midterms (4 of them) are 100 points. If you ask for help she will but gets frustrated with you. You HAVE to study for the tests & do the exam review worksheets to get a DECENT score on the tests. Drops the lowest midterm score
If you are planning to take statistics, consider taking it with a different professor. She accuses you of not watching lectures when asking a simple question and accuses you of not trying. She does not believe in extra credit or retakes. Closed notes on all exams. Her class is very fast paced as well.
Took her for 8AM, my advice? Don't. She arrives 30 minutes late EVERY lecture and sometimes cancels 20 minutes into class. Not a difficult class to pass if you try but tests make up about 90% of your grade, no notes allowed. Watch lectures before class, go over problems during, and that's it. Kind of a hard grader but not too bad.
Yeah…Nooo!!!!! Hope this helps!!!
Professor Sekhon was one of the best Statistics professors I could've asked for. There were 4 big tests but as long as you completed the labs and studied you will pass. She gives good feedback if you have any questions.
Is not a good teacher, she is very fast paced and expects everyone to understand. She encourages questions yet when you ask them she makes you feel dumb. Along with this when grading labs in front of student she will call you out very loudly and make you feel embarrassed for not getting the answer right & removes points if you over explain in tests
She is honestly a very good professor! Her video lectures are super clear. I would say she teaches too fast, but my advice is to take notes in class and review them later. Her exams r easy. If you stay on track and put in the effort and time to study you will do great! only annoying thing is that she cancels class a lot. like alottt..
Great professor, her lectures are really helpful and she only teaches what the exams are on. She gives worksheets as homework "labs" that are easy and short. There's 4 exams that are worth your whole grade. Her study guides for the exams cover exactly what will be on them, so it's good to practice doing it multiple times before the exam.
Great professor! Sometimes rushes lectures, so be sure to watch her Canvas videos. Gives homework for each concept (pretty easy) with feedback and chances to fix mistakes. Study guides match the exams, just different numbers. Extra practices on Canvas are great for the 3 exams + final. One thing is she often calls you out for small mistakes.
Had her for an 8am class and was always late (30min+) even on exam days. The homework was graded ofter class which meant you would have to stay after her class time as she grades them individually and gives them back until you have no mistakes. 4 major exams not difficult to do as she does a review lecture the day before the exam.
She does go through lectures very fast. If you have a question she will give short answers. Doesn't explain that well. Labs are one point and checks them in class. If you understand it will be super easy. If you're a slower learner probably don't choose this professor. The lab hours are also during lecture so you leave class early.
She cracks jokes and is funny but tough grader exams are hard
Please, for the love of God, don't take her class. I joined one day before the census, and she made me do 6-7 labs in 3 days. She's so picky. Dear God, her exams are hard (ash). Later found out my advisor who im going to sue made take statistics when I didnt need that for my major. Had to get the deen involved to retake exam. Every exam is midterm.
-Easy class if you are responsible, as it requires a lot of self-studying. Labs are worth 1 point, 3 exams and a final constitute the majority of your grade -You are provided a formula sheet and allowed calculators on exams. -Easy to ask questions from home as she gives out her phone number and responds quickly
She teaches the material very well. Tests are pretty difficult but still manageable.
