In my opinion, this professor is the worst example of someone who actually has a clue in how to be the WORST PROFESSOR EVER. P.S. He has B.O.
Reyes has absolutely no patience for people that dont want to learn. Neither do i. If you want to learn and try to do so, he will reward you accordingly. As far as teaching, he could slow down a bit. Even so, he loves the subject, and hence can teach it.
The Final was 60% of our grade! Need i say more, it was hard, he does not explain things thouroughly, and expects ypu to be an economist
The Final was 60% of our grade. He is terrible teacher,I have ever had.Don`t take this class with him.He is really hard.He does not explain anything.he is just asking questions.Dropped the class.
this is a bad teracher for online. no communication at all. the entire class was lost. i dropped the class and so did many others. i don't recommend this teacher is you plan to learn anything and pass.
he teaches like a college professor should- as though people have read the book. people who complain about him generally do so because they dont do the assigned reading outside of class. if you read and pay attention class is quite simple, and he is happy to clarify things for people who have obviously put time into the class.
he never keep the schedule to teach us! he always gives a lot of essay gestions on the exam, and it's too difficult! not recommand it!
he was our substitute for a while. hes intimidating. if you have the wrong answer he makes you look stupid. and if you throw you trash away and sit back down. he walks to the trash can and kick it and says "sure feel free to get up whenever you want". supposedly i heard all the eco teachers are bad but supposedly hes best out of the worst...
had in fall 2003. lecture questions are too specific and inconsequential, causing the class to get lost. have him now for i-net. hoping lack of communication will be beneficial.
Those that don't like this man's teaching want to be spoon fed. Grow up people this is college!! I took this the hardest way, online & got a B then an A. Mr. Reyes, gives you all the notes and powerpoints, expected you to READ the chapters, and the reviews were whats on the test. Period!& If you watch the PPt's you know the essay ?'s !! DUH...
YOU ARE EXPECTED TO STUDY/READ BEFORE CLASS FOR THE LECTURES YOU HAVE THE NEXT DAY. TESTS COME FROM THE LECTURES AND THE BOOK. CHALLENGING ONLY BECAUSE OF ALL THE STUDYING YOU HAVE TO DO. ITS TRUE HE WILL MAKE YOU LOOK STUPID IF YOU DO NOT KNOW THE ANSWER TO A QUESTION BUT IT WILL TEACH YOU TO READ FOR NEXT TIME.
very good teacher, bit hard , gotta study before class, when you walk out you would feel the knowledge that you have gained.. I LOVED HIS CLASS
Easy class? hell no. However, u do learn a lot. I thought i was gonna drop the class because honestly it seemed (and it is) hard. But if u read before class (before every class) and u LISTEN and take notes... and then u STUDY them before the test.. u get an A. Hard, but very interesting. Learned a lot. I do recomend him.
I was in a class with him this SSI. Had to pay $170 for the textpacket...I couldn't get over how dense some of the other students in class were...half didn't even have the book, he laid out all the stuff you were responsible for(better than UT profs)...he explained lots of stuff I covered in Finance and other business courses I wasn't quite clear o
Very Knowledgeable prof, not very responsive to emails though. Reading the book thoroghly helps. His reviews are very helpful.
very hard to pass his class
Terrible! I took the online class and he NEVER returned our e-mails. The one time he did (the first week of school) he was very short and rude. My class actually thought he died! I ended up receiving an "F" because he never returned my e-mails. Very unhappy!
Personally, He was somewhat intimidating, but after awhile you get use to his teaching style. He's funny, straighforward and although its a lot of material, if you study and read it will be okay. tests are hard, a lot of short answer. i missed a lot of class but managed to make a decent grade.
very very very hard!!! but if you want to learn eco take this guy he knows what he's talking about so much so that 3/4 of the classes drops his class. stick with this guy and you wont regret it...good luck!!
Follow the syllabus, read the book, look over his review and the class will be easy. His class was a bit of a challenge at first but once you get use to his method, it was a piece of cake.
Really freakin hard! He instructs as if you already know the subject. HELLO!!! thats why we're taking the class! So that he can teach us it's not a review. I took him last sems and i can honestly say everyone except for 5 students dropped his class.
Hmm one word different. He is not a laid back teacher he will ground and pound on for his readings. The book will need to be read day after day. YOU WILL NOT PASS IF U DO NOT DO ALL KEY TERMS FOR EACH CHAPTER! No lie i just did not have time with readings and work and i understand my grade.
Worst Professor ever!! Teaches as if the students already know the material. Will call on you to make you look stupid. Class started with 18 students after 1st exam there was only 6 students left. By second exam it was only 2 students me n my friend. Asked repeatedly if he can help or give some kind of review but he refused.Bottom line every1 dropp
TALK ABOUT UNFAIR
Great Teacher! A little hard but the course itself is hard so nothing he can do about it, he grades farely, explains everything in clear words and is a good teacher if you are willing to learn ECO and not just taking it cuz you have to...IF you do what he asks you to do and read your chapters a high B or an A is easy.
I TOOK HIS ONLINE COURSE, SUMMER SESSION, EVERYTHING UPFRONT THE ONLY GRADES WERE THE TEST THAT HE GAVE US, WE HAD ALL WEEKEND TO DO THEM. I THOUGHT THE CLASS WAS NOT STRESSFULL, JUST STUDY, THE TEST WERE OPEN BOOK ALSO! THE ONLY THING WAS IT TOOK A MONTH TO GET THE FIRST TEST GRADES..TAKE HIS CLASS!
This guy is out to get you. his test are rediculous. No partial credit on your short answer response. He teaches as though you have taken this class before. I read before each class and it helps a litle but this guy makes it alot harder than it needs to be.
Will never get back to u on questions.Don't count on communicating with him if u take him online.Super easy grade, just read and have the weekend to take test. Will give you bonus Q's, really easy test, + it's open book. There's no way to fail this class. Grade based on tests only. EASY GRADE!
Most disappointing class i have taken From one who actually wants to learn. Doesn't communicate. No class involvement. Reyes learn to teach im paying you for it. Super easy grade, just read and have the weekend to take test. Will give you bonus Q's + it's open book. There's no way to fail this class. Grade based on tests only. EASY GRADE!
This man is completely worthless! He speaks in riddles - when he wants you to respond he makes a statement and every time he asks a question it's rhetorical. And he words his tests this way. Oh, and to top it off he's afraid of public speaking, he uses all the therapy tactics. He stares at the wall, above your head, it's like he's not even there.
he lectures extremely clear and he covers all the material in the class. its very important to know the terminology in his class and be very familiar with the graphs.
he' cool, good teacher
Really awful teacher. Makes no eye contact with students. Stares at the wall or ceiling. Tries to make students feel like idiots. Just really bad, avoid this teacher if at all possible.
he is one horrible teacher! he never answers emails and is only nice if you call him and suck up to him! his tests are like from mars and veryyy time consuming! DONT TAKE HIM
I took him online and his tests are really hard I repeat really hard. The chapters are nothing like his test. I had to drop him . Please take someone else if you like your GPA.
Im taking him now and just wanted to save people from future misery, DONT TAKE HIM! WORST TEACHER EVER. He thinks he knows it all. EVERYONE failed his first exam. No one made better than a 70. Even if hes your last choice, just wait, simply not worth messing your gpa. HAVE to read the book everynight, and he will call on you to make you feel stupid
I took the class online and found that as long as you study the book, it is pretty easy. He does curve the tests. Overall, it is not too bad.
He is a good teacher that wants you to learn. A genuinely nice guy who knows his stuff. His tests are hard but I haven't studied for more than an hour and I've made an A on the first two. He gives bonus on his tests and lots of paragraph answers. Pay attention in class and follow it up with the book any you'll be fine. Again, a great smart teacher.
He is a really good professor just a little hard and he make you work . I got a A in that class and I learn a lot !!!!!!
i never thought i would withdrawl from a class, unttil i ended up in his class, test are extremely hard, and you will not receive 1 review!!!! wouldnt recommend at all!!
I am currently taking his online class and do not find him to be too difficult. It's up to you to read the book for yourself and study. The tests are not extremely difficult but you do need to make sure you understand the material. He does include bonus questions to help the test grade. I have an A so far.
took online class... he gives some notes... no homework to turn-in... read book, then do test... test consist of muliple choice and approx 10 short essay answers...
A nice person to know as a professor, but lacks to technique to teach. His style of teaching is so vague .Not well packaged , coupled with poor delivery of the material makes his class a nightmare, if you read on your own you would surely do well. His exams are tough ,but the overall general quality of this man is very high .He is affable, respecful
Dude is WEIRD. He won't look you in the eye; instead he stares at the walls all class period. I'm not even joking. He has a bit of a God-complex too, which sucks because he's supposed to be teaching and not trying to sound smart. I'd take someone else if possible.
Honestly I found it very hard to understand him. He is very smart and knows eco, but his ability to give straight forward definitions on concepts lacks. no reviews on tests, but if you want to make a good grade Do All of the CHAPTER obj's and understand them fully. also do the multiple choice in the back of the book. Does have bonus ?'s on test
Class is easy if you read the chapters. Instructor is a jerk. If you ask a question re: multiple contradictions in syllabus, he attempts to make you feel stupid. Hate power trippy profs.
worst teacher i have ever had. not helpful at all. he makes rude comments if you don't know the answer. lots of reading every night. tests are very hard. no extra credit.no pop quizzes. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS
I took the summer class which was not easy but not incredibly hard. You have to read the book every night and study to get an A. The first test was a killer but the others were easier after you understand the format.
Originally I viewed the student comments on rate my professor and was very scared to take him based on what other students said. Thankfully I went ahead and gave him a chance. Although he wasn't the most excited professor I've taken, he is very clear on what is expected and deadlines. Test are serious so you better review chapters provided.
Comes across hard and blunt, but is not a bad teacher. You must read to keep up in class, its just the way he sets up his teaching model and he will surprise you with questions about readings in the book.
Teacher is horrible!! I take the online class and he does not answer any emails, until I got really rude with him, in which he finally replied and tried to make me feel stupid...didn't work, He hasn't posted or updated our homework on my econlab he is terrible with getting you your results. I wish I could change teachers!
I just finished fall semester and it wasn't bad at all. The hardest part was his essay questions that accompany a multiple choice test. The multiple choice is staright from Economics lab homework. Do all the homework, practice quizzes, and you will do fine. It was requirement for me to take the class. Keep up with homework. Final is easy. Take him
I took professor Reyes online and it was rather difficult at first. He seems like a nice guy, he gets edgy with people who ask stupid questions. Final is super easy and is worth 40% of your grade so you can tread water through the earlier harder tests then get an a on the final and still have a good grade. I Recommend Reyes.
I took both 2301 and 2302 with him over the summer. He's pretty good. A little uptight, but nice and helpful if you ask. I was only disappointed that we had to skip over some material because of the 10-week pacing.
Awful! This was an internet class and he was not present at all! It takes roughly a week for him to answer any general emails and he had the nerve to send me a message after the test grade had been posted to let me know that I had gotten a "0" because he had not received my exam. Had to get rude to get it corrected. Pray for the best!
I took ECON 2301 & ECON 2302 with this professor Fall 2010. If you read everything he asks you to and follow directions, you should be okay. The only down side to this professor is that it takes him a very long time to respond to your emails. Be prepared to be on your own.
Online: He is definitely very uninvolved with the course-- it's pretty much a selfteaching kind of thing, but that is how most online classes are, and it is not hard at all to keep up in this class. Very simple layout. 4 tests, and a Myeconlab. 15 points extra credit offered on every test. Impossible to not make an A. MUST READ BOOK though!
Does not know how to teach and does not know how to talk with the students. Does not give a review for the test and is all over the place when he teaches.
Mr Reyes is very strict, which is really good for my taste. He used to say in class that he would not force any student to participate, make questions or do homework. Simply that the best ones and the worst ones deserve what they really are and offer in class. I have already a major in Accounting and I was impressed with his class.
Will not help you at all. In fact doesn't even teach. He gives you the assignments via myeconlab.com and he gives tests. You are expected to read the book and do everything on your own. Not that this is a bad thing but you don't get exams back and he replies very late to any messages. I wonder how the man has a job considering he does not teach.
The worst teacher ever!!! PLEASE DON'T TAKE A CLASS WITH HIM if you really appreciate your career. He never looks the people on class, he is sarcastic with your comments, he is rude and crude..
loved this teacher, every test comes directly from the book. as long as you read, you'll pass the class!
Prof. Reyes is one of those teachers that makes you learn. He is very knowledgeable about economics and wants you to learn. This class will help you understand how the US and the world's economy works. I was so lucky to have him for this class.
Took professor Reyes for Micro Econ. If you wanna slack off and expect an A don't take him. He goes over the material and makes it easy to understand. Read your book and attend class and you won't have a problem getting an A in his class. Very knowledgable and wants you to learn but won't push you, you'll have to do that on your own.
The assignments are all via myeconlab.com. ABSOLUTELY NO INSTRUCTION! You don't get exams back for 8-10 business days and he replies approximately 2-4 days later to any messages. Test are (60pts)multiple choice and essay (40pts)..not easy essay. Bonus essay ?'s on each test. Final is worth 40% of your grade! GOOD LUCK!!!
This class is not extremely hard but at the same time it is not easy, at all. I took it online, I only read the textbook before test days and it would take me the whole weekend to finish the exams -.- If you can get someone else I would definitely recommend doing so. If you cant, this class IS passable, but dont go into it expecting to do very well
Take this class if you trust yourself to be smart. Pay attention, read the book and do not miss a word of his lecture. His notes are incomprehensible but if you try and make an effort, you can pass with a good grade, but you need to study on your own. His econlab tests are nothing like the real test. Good luck! and don't be afraid of him lol
4 tests make up 100 percent of grade. He would say that he won't give extra credit, BUT he did give my class 15 bonus point on the third exam. He has a huge ego, so sometimes can be aggressive and rude. But he makes you read the textbook. I made good grade and think the grading scale is pretty fair.
Worst experience ever. There is no interaction in this class. You just read, take a test, repeat. Even with me keeping up with my reading and taking notes, I only barely passed. I highly recommend finding another professor to take this course with.
He is absolutely no help! You will NOT hear from him the entire class, he will NOT teach you anything! You will read the book & hope you remember the right things to complete the coursework.
Good teacher. Dont see why there is all these negative comments :)
Mr. Reyes just makes the class boring. He doesn't work with what you're trying to ask, pushing it off to the side because its "irrelevant to what we are talking about right now". He just reads off a powerpoint and feeds you the textbook. Really boring and non worthy class.
In his class I learned so much! I will not lie, he is a challenging professor. If you do not read, take notes, and don't do the assignments the class will be difficult. But if you read, participate in class, take notes and complete the 4 test, you will receive an A. If you are interested participate, ask questions (not stupids ones). He's the BEST
this class wasby far the hardest class i have ever taken in my whole life.i understood his lectures till i got my 1st test back. it goes like this the 1st 12 is free response but the questions are loaded with extra questions and he doesnt give partialcredit. 2nd half multiple choice is easy if you do all the hw which i did.I gota 60 dont take RUN!
9 people dropped our class. The tests are hard af and the lectures are confusing af. Just read a lot and you'll still fail. And tell him that capital is just money
I took him for Macro (first econ class ever) and I was blown away with his high expectations. He gives really in-depth and detailed lectures, and I figured out that all of the test material can be found in his "summaries" in the beginning. I made it clear I was willing to work hard, and he did everything he could to help me out. Ended up w an A!
Reyes is the type of teacher that wants you to learn. His lectures are some what interesting and you can tell he really knows about what he is talking about. His tests are a little hard but they are fair. As long as you do the homework and pay attention you will get an A in the class.
Final grade based only out of 3 exams and final. There is no extra credit, must do homework which is online McGraw-Hill Connect but doest give any credit and plus even you do it, he asks questions on exams based on his definition that he gave during the class but not from the book, so it makes you confuse. No partial credits for short answers.
Basically if you don't read and complete the Connect assignments for each chapter (not required for your grade, but definitely necessary for your success!), you won't pass the class. He's easy to reach and quick to respond to e-mails if you have any questions. Bottom line - read + do the practice problems, and you'll pass.
Mr. Reyes answers his emails rather quickly and wants to be sure you do well in his class. Class average was based on 4 tests. If you study then you are sure to pass.
He only graded test for my class so my grade did not turn out as well as I hoped. However, he taught me a lot on how to be a better college student. I think this class prepared me better for other college courses.
Dude is literally a walking audio textbook that makes you conform to his ideologies. Will not answer your question if it does not relate to what is being discussed and will not give the reason why. He believes that the textbook will help you be successful but really its not. Overall this guy sucks and avoid him at all cost, Youtube is better.
Professor Reyes is a tough grader and grades you based on your test, and no quizzes. His lectures are very bad and doesn't like to repeat himself. You need to buy a textbook for the class and the aplia program, but we didn't even use it because many problems occurred. Do not take his class, his class is very difficult.
This professor is very lecture heavy, which isn't a problem, but his lectures are not engaging at all, they bore more than make you think, very monotone. If you have a question, don't bother asking because he will just stop you while you're asking, and answer with another question. Overall, a terrible professor. Doesn't seem to care about students.
Professor Reyes is an excellent instructor. Miss his class and you will be behind. His exams are easy and straight forward. His exams are based off his lectures and the textbook reinforces his lectures. I am going to take Prof. Reyes again for ECON 2302
He's awesome. I don't get why others are complaining. Just pay attention and study for the tests (you don't have to go over board). Making outlines helped me with the class. Also he has reviews before tests and those help a LOT.
This professor has to be one of my favorite professors I have ever had. If you pay attention in class and do what he tells you, you will get an A in this class. The very first day of class he tells you to sign up for the online practice and that his test look "VERY similar to those questions online" I never read the book, lowest grade I got was 89.
DO NOT TAKE THIS MAN. Worst professor ever. All he does all class is draw circles and lines on the chalkboard and calls on the same 3 people. SOOO many people dropped or failed. Grade is made up of 4 tests that seem to not correlate with his lectures at all. Doesn't seem to care at all about his students or teaching in general. TAKE SOMEONE ELSE.
He will NEVER answer your questions. I dropped this teacher because he is unorganized and unclear. He runs around the room drawing smiling faces and lines on the board. Talks to the same 4 people without giving others the chance. 4 tests and you will fail everyone of them.
Professor Reyes repeats himself a lot but that's how he gets the information to stick to you. A lot of people complain about his class saying that he doesn't know how to teach or that he just draws all over the place. He makes it clear on the FIRST day that you have to read in order to pass. Some people are just lazy and want everything spoon feed
Honestly just go to class and pay attention to his lectures, his tests are directly out of them. He has alot of extra credit opportunities and its a really easy class, i would highly recommend.
Took the class online. Did not answer any of my emails. I asked him to give feedback on my research paper before it was due and he did not respond. Only graded tests which were easy A's when you use google. Did not learn a thing tho. Was not clear on his instructions bcz he doesn't answer emails. Take this class online if you want an easy A!
4 test and 1 essay. Test are a little hard but if you study you will have no problems.
I took him for the online micro course. The tests themselves are very easy and he is explicit in his instructions. The negative is that he does not respond quickly, and that is necessary during an online course. Also when he does reply his answers are not clear and leads to further confusion. Overall easy online class, but you'll learn nothing.
Not sure why anyone would give this professor a negative rating. Professor Reyes is not only kind, but he cares about his students passing. He doesn't grade hard and he doesn't overwhelm you work. I took his class online and it was very straight forward. I would definitely take his class again and I recommend him to others. Read the book.
Had him for Econ 2301 and was a great professor. Did not overwhelm students with extra assignments. Only grades are the 3 exams and 1 final. As long as you read you will easily make an A.
Reyes is an amazing professor. Your class grade only consists of four grades which are three tests and one final. He gives adequate extra credit on tests but don't expect anything extra. In order to pass, you must read the textbook and take notes during his lectures. His test questions are derived only from the book or his lectures. Read to pass
Do not take this class with this professor. He does not respond to emails and when you ask question he would tell you to read the SYLLABUS. The class consist on 3 test and a final plus HW. He does not provide any reviews, notes for test, not much room for mistakes. The test are time and super hard. if you take online class you are on your OWN!
I don't know why he's rated so low. Took his online class and it was fine! He gives you a month to complete 4 chapters at a time. 3 exams, 1 final and chapter quizzes on the Ebook that allow you to answer as many as it takes to get a 100%. Only thing I didn't like was his tests opened on Friday @ 4pm and closed Saturday @ 10pm.
Read the course material, understand the chapter 's content, you will be fine in the 4 exams . An A is doable.
Read the book, go to class ready. Hes an amazing professor, wants you to participate and succeed. Would take him again any given day.
Working ? a parent? Or jst have a busy schedule DO NOT take him. His quizzes require computer camera on and it locks your task bar. Emailed him 3 days after class started to ask a question about the camera since i do not have it and w/out answering my question he says he reported me absent since he saw no activity for 3 days. Hes careless
Sit in the front of the class and he will ask you questions, answer the questions right and he will like you. I never read the textbook because I found it pointless. Just show up to class and take notes. If he repeats himself that means it's on the test. If you are confused by a concept just go to the page it's on and read. He's a really nice guy.
Be ready to read will taking this class. No review on what's going to be on the exams. The test questions are tricky. The class was 11 weeks instead of 12 weeks. You have to have the lock down browser and web cam on your computer when taking the test. I wouldn't recommend this professor.
Did not give any credit to partially correct answers.
Overall he is a good professor. Just read the book and you will pass. His terms are very clear, gives inquisitive which you have several times to try till you make 100. He uses camera, but if you read, there is nothing to be worried about. He gives additional point to make up your grade
If you read for this class, you will pass. If you don't want to read DO NOT take this class. The tests are a little confusing the way some are worded, however, overall Reyes is an awesome teacher. He makes sure everyone participates in class, and if you don't participate you most likely will not pass. He wants all his students to pass.
Get ready to read before listening to his lecture, follow his guidelines and you're guaranteed an A. Exams are heavy but it's easy to get an A, he's really hilarious during his lectures, participate and he'll like you. READ, READ, READ. That's the most important thing to pass his class. Don't skip class because you will need the notes.
Flores class is 80/20. Four test (including the final) was 80%. Online homework was 20% and there was one for each chapter. Note that first three quizes had short answer. The final was 100% multiple choice, which made no sense. If you do not comprehend the material for the test, you will receive a D at best. Beware if you work and go to school.
I took Reyes during the Summer as a Dual Credit student. Like he said, if you do not read the textbook, YOU WILL NOT PASS. His lectures are useless (to me) because you can find everything he said in the textbook. Just understand causes and concepts. He only gave 3 tests for my class and an easy home grade so be prepared and do not procrastinate.
Clear syllabus; Inquisitive and Exams for grades. Super easy as you can take IQ until you get 100. You have to read! Exams: open book, multiple choice and "essay" - Answer the question and provide an explanation to get full points. I work FT and took 9hrs including this class, got an A. Not easy but not stressful either.
Even though I received an A in this class, it was straight forward. Do assignments and do exams, easy A. The way the class was set up online was confusing. There would be duplication of assignments and exams, and you would not know which one is the correct one to turn in. He does not immediately reply to emails. Exams are browser-lockdown.
This class was very easy and simple layout, 3 exams and a final with inquisitive assignments due each week. Read the book, be aware of due dates and you should pass. He is a tough grader when it comes to the short answers on the exams so make sure you manage your time on the exams to give a good answer and actually read the book
I'm surprised that the rating is low. The class was EASY with clear weights, 3 exams & final w inquisitive assignments due weekly. Read the book, that will help you. He is a tough grader on the exam short answers. He did not use the lockdown browser on the exam and that was very helpful. He is responsive to emails and gives good feedback.
Took Mr. Reyes class in 2020 fall during the Pandemic HCC restrictions. Mr. Reyes is good with no due dates for his assignments allows his class an opportunity to complete by the end of the semester. Inquisitives are 20% of the class final grade. 3 tests and constant changes his EXAMs instructions. NO CLASS Virtual meets before TESTS! WACK!
Took him in person right before pandemic. Before, he was a great teacher, but very strict on his grading. You'll work for your grade! After everything was online and he relaxed a bit. Only got a B because of the one exam we took in person!
If you want an easy A, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. Tests are hard, lectures aren't very helpful. Tests require a lockdown browser. Each test is 20% of the final grade, and inquisitive is 20%. Definitely read the textbook. Also, he doesn't fix the syllabus, and he's a bit forgetful, so you won't be sure which chapters you have to study for the test.
Professor reyes is the best!! The first test was lockdown browser but he allowed you to use your notes. Every test after was no lockdown browser. That was an easy A, and I am taking him again for 2402.
Very rude and disrespectful in his lectures. Will call on you then won't let you speak. Was sexist during one of the lectures and would teach things as if he were reading out of the book. Waste of time to join class but made cameras mandatory or you were counted absent. Would not recommend. get any other teacher if you can.
I'll cut to the point: His lectures are long boring and useless. He repeats what's in the textbook. No camera? Guess you're absent. He passive-aggressively chews out students who get questions wrong. Answers questions with "It's in the book" or "If you'd read..." If you unfortunately end up with him please read and take notes or you WON'T pass.
The class is very test-heavy, with your grade being determined by 2 test grades, 1 cumulative assignment grade, and 1 exam grade. All of the work is textbook-guided, and his lectures heavily rely on knowledge from the book. The class can be passed with little to no reliance on his lectures, however, attendance and participation are mandatory.
I took him as a dual credit student. I'm used to studying and bad teachers, but this man is on another level. He never responded to my emails, his exams were hard to grade, and his study guide is a waste of time. Unless you are ready to put in some work for his class, try to change it.
He cares more about embarrassing students during lectures. He'll repeatedly call on students who haven't read, announce he's marking someone absent for any reason he seems valid, he genuinely doesn't care about teaching or his students. The course grades on two tests, one final exam, and assignments. His lectures are 75% him embarrassing students.
Pretty hostile professor. He doesn't seem willing to help students and talks in all CAPS. However, the fact that he is a hostile professor allows the students to really have to focus and learn the material, so in a way he is beneficial. So as a professor, he's okay but pretty strict and angry.
Extremely disrespectful, yells at students, and has very harsh policies. He has tons of assignments, yet the exams are more than 50% of your grade.
I would ask about chapters on the syllabus, he would post them and 5 minutes later respond that they were there all along. While our syllabus said the final exam date is Dec. 11-16, he closed it dec. 11 and said that dec. 10th was the last day to schedule make up exams?????? Genuinely p.o.s. and so extremely uhelpful in an online setting.
This professor can come off as hostile sometimes over email with ALL CAPS but, he means well probably because students think it's an easy class. He goes strictly with the syllabus. Test are not the easiest especially on the short answers but just memorize the vocabs from each chapter and you'll be fine. He gives 15 points extra credit on his tests
Professor Reyes runs a tough class, but engaging with his system pays off. Definitely do the readings and prepare using resources like unstuck study - it helped me nail the exams. Overall, a challenging but rewarding course.
