Professor is extremely helpful with instructions and makes every effort to be available for any extra help. If you attend class, do the required work, your grade will show. Prof. Benton is a difficult grader, however, not impossible. It was a pleasure to have him as a professor.

Bentons class was really fun. I'm not the best speaker, but I learned a lot and graduated w/ a low A. He doesn't use the book much. No tests or quizes. Graded only on your speaches and class participation. He doesn't like it if you go over your time limit and you must be ready when says you should be. If you're confused, ask, he's willing to help.

Excellent teacher.Very helpful & friendly. DO what you are asked and do your work.Be ready w/ speech on date due. No tests-just graded on speech performance. Will take off for going over expected time limit, saying "um", and speaking to fast. Sticks to syllabus. Highly reccomended!

Great teacher! Very understanding and will explain clearly if you have questions, if not ask him again and he'll explain it a different way. He's flexible w/ reason , BUT do what he asks of you on assignments! I had a lot of fun in his class and learned how to speak more effecticly in public situations. Take him for SPEECH!

Easy class. He tells you exactly what he wants, follow that and you'll get an A.

Great communications class. I had him on a Saturday and he made the class awesome. Grading was fair and pretty lenient, but if you didn't have your visual aid expect one grade lower on your report. We had a party because it was some kid's birthday, he was real cool about it. GR8 prof, no exams. TAKE HIM

We had an awesome class!! It was very diverse and we had a great time. Saturday morning classes usually suck, but this was cool. Be prepared to give your speech on your assigned day though!

He is a great teacher! Attentive and passionate, although he's a little hard of hearing. I would definitely pick him for another class if need be!

Do NOT buy the text. Everything he teaches is on Power point, which can be printed from HACC website before class (he provides the password). This will save your hand and ink. EVERYTHING on the quizzes comes from the power points. His quizzes are hard but w/ the power points they are more than passable. Study PP word for word!

Mr. Benton respected his students, and his students had respect for him as well. He was an excellent instructor and role model. He allowed us to express ourselves without negative critisism. I would highly recommend him to anyone who wishes to excell as a public speaker. Best wishes to him as he continues his journey in the teaching profession.

Tests are difficult and make you think. Only two speeches, an informative, and a persuasive. I really enjoyed the class, and I think Mr. Benton is a great person who really cares. Don't buy the textbook, it was never used, just show up, listen and you'll do fine! I recommend Mr. Benton to anybody needing to take a speech class at HACC :)

Very in-depth instructor. Runs a difficult class though and tests are also difficult. He is very knowledgeable in many subjects and extremely fair. I would say that his fairness stands out above other instructors.

This man was fantastic!! On the first day, I thought, wow, here we go another boring teacher! But, he surprised me. His down to earth approach and sense of humor allowed students to be themselves and really state what was on their mind. I will always keep the memories of this class.

Mr. Benton provided an excellent speech class experience. He is very involved as we as thorough. I appreciate and enjoyed his teaching style. I would recommend his class to anyone. Attend, listen and participate and you will do fine. Mr. Benton is very clear with his expectations.

I found the tests to be a bit obscure, hence difficult. However, speech grading was generous to say the least which helped our end grades greatly. I believe attendance toward semesters end would improve if at least one speech was given as a mid-term. Students would be less discouraged over their grade in addition to alleviating time constraints

The tests are difficult, however he is a great instructor! He made the class interesting. I recommend him for future students needing Spch 101.

It was a pleasure to be in Mr. Benton's speech class. The tests were a little difficult because he makes you think about the answers. As a result, I really learned something valuable in the class. He was fair with his grading, nice guy with a sense of humor. His class was one of my favorites! I would highly recommend him.

I took the time to read all previous comments. They date back to 06.It sounds like he has come a long way and has utilized constructive criticism. He is too picky on word choice for tests, so sometimes it felt like it was about the word and not the concept. He genuinely cared about his students and their work. That is rare. I would take him again.

Mr. Benton is a good, patient and understanding teacher. Books weren't really necessary, pay attention to the slides!! tests were kind of hard, pay attention to little details on slides and wording on questions. other than that, good teacher, and easy class.

Did not want to take the class, but I had to because of a graduation requirement. Mr. Benton is wonderful!! The tests in the begining of the semester are killer, but the speeches went well. I had total anxiety before going up and giving every speech, but he did his best to relax all of us. The class kind of reminded me of "group counciling".

To be comepletely honest, i was not looking forward to having to take a speech class. However, he managed to transform the classroom into a sort of discussion instead. This made it much more fun and far less like school.

Speech class was my most dreaded class. i waited until my senior year to take it! almost dropped the class due to anxiety; however, Mr. Benton convinced me to stay and he worked with me. He helped me make it through. and the tests are not hard. Just take notes and study them.

I had professor Benton for human communications at York College. He is one of the best ever. Soft but humorous. He models everything he expects. He is amazing at being able to get the entire class to participate. Any one who takes a class from this professor will not only learn effective communication skills but about yourself. 5 star prof.

Mr. Benton was an excellent teacher. Very understanding and always willing to help as long as you communicate with him. Kept classes very interesting and added humor. Tests in the beginning are hard, but as long as he sees that you are trying he is willing to work with you! I would take another one of his classes if offered.

I was dreading this class before I started, but I ended up LOVING the class, thanks to Mr. Benton. I found the lectures to be interesting and amusing and I didn't mind the tests. They weren't easy, but if you study you'll be fine.

His lectures were filled with humor and he encourages interaction. His slides can be found online which makes studying easy. He makes it very clear what will and will not be found on the test and during the test if you are struggling he helps point you in the right direction. He is a great teacher who knows how to make a 3hour lecture fly by.

I thought this professor was fantastic, I was a bit confused with some of the tests, but he was very helpful. I would recommend Marc Benton to my friends as a tough but understanding speech professor! He was definitely one of the BEST teachers I have had so far at HACC! He was kind yet he made you work hard for your grade. I enjoyed his class!

Prior to taking speech I thought this was a class I would fail. I hate speaking in front of people. This class was FANTASTIC. Having Mr. Benton, made the class enjoyable and entertaining. If you want to learn information that will be useful and memorable this is the teacher for you. However, you better be prepared to THINK!!!

He is not an easy prof. In order to be succeed, following all of his guildline and remember his lecture is necessary.

I had a real problem with speaking in public to the point I got physically sick, But with the help of the subject matter and M. Benton I made it though and did well. I also had a great time in the class.

I thoroughly enjoyed this class. The environment was friendly and well paced. If you are not sure of something..Ask! Professor Benton is a great and fun teacher. This course definitely opened my eyes to the ways of communication. It was an empowering course and fun at the same time.

I thought the class was very good. I enjoyed the class because we were a small group and you got the chance to ask and answer more questions.

This was the class I most dreaded, but ended up enjoying the most! Professor Benton made learning interesting and enjoyable. If you have a choice of professors for this course I would absolutely recommend him! Class discussion was stimulating, insightful, and never dull. Best required course ever!

I was not looking forward to speech class, but Professor Benton made it one of my favorite classes! You were able to speak your mind, and he always had you using your brain making you wonder about certain situations- Which was awesome. Make sure you take notes though, they will become handy! Overall he is a wonderful professor to take!

Benton is clear about the expectations and is always willing to help. His lectures are interactive. They help you feel more comfortable in the class as well as when giving a speech. Tests aren't horrible, you just have to think. Grading of tests and speeches is fair and consistent. This was one of my favorite classes (that I thought I would hate).

Attendance a Must! Participation a must! No excuses for being unprepared as he gives you instructions early in semester. Tests are open note, so take good ones. Think outside the box and give your best effort. Downfalls- Syllabus kept changing. Due dates kept changing. Computer and recording problems were constant issue for informative speeches.

professor benton was excellent. he made class fun and enjoyable. he taps into your creative side. i could not have asked for a better professor for this course. coming into a speech class i had a million and one worries, but he made it enjoyable. thank you professor benton for an extremely good time.

Professor Benton is a fantastic teacher. He keeps his class to a minimum so that his students are more comfortable and he has open notes for his tests. In this class you will share personal things and really become like a family. Best class I have ever taken. I recommend him to everyone I know that needs this class.

Mr. Benton's class was structure in a way to remove anxiety associated with public speaking. He starts out with a couple of small activites and speaches to make you feel comfortable speaking in front of the class. His personality promoted class humor, which increased comfort levels. He provided support during and after classes.

I was dreading taking this (mandatory) class because I HATE public speaking, however Prof. Benton made the class atmosphere completely comfortable for myself & all the other students. Lots of note taking is required-not a TON of studying (only 2 exams & both are open note). He encourages class participation. I'd take his class again in a second!

As much as I feared taking this mandatory class- I ended up loving it! Prof Benton makes the classroom comfortable & not intimidating at all. 2 exams are given (both open note) and the rest of your grade is based on your speeches. Do your work (don't "wing" your speeches) & come to class prepared & you will succeed. I'd take him again in a second!

Professor Benton's expectations were made extremely clear. He goes over his expectations in class and they are always available online. I recommend practicing your speeches and ALWAYS being prepared to go. He made this class enjoyable and not as stressful as I thought it was going to be.

BEST professor’s that I have ever taken.He makes sure that everyone gets along & that the class environment is calm and relaxed. He has 2 open note tests that are easy & do the outlines the way that he likes & do your speeches & you’ll do great. I wish he could teach all of the classes that I need to take in college. He the BEST instructor EVER!!!!

You can tell this Prof teaches because he enjoys it. Makes you ore relaxed and the anxiety of public speaking is eased tenfold by the time class ends. I would recommend him.

Pro: Prof Benton did an excellent job of creating a positive/supportive group dynamic that made giving the speeches a lot less threatening. Con: Test questions were fairly subjective so be prepared to make a case for any "wrong" answers. Also, I felt ostracized at one point for holding a dissenting opinion. Overall enjoyed the class and professor.

Prof Benson was awesome! It's clear he loves what he does and he makes you think outside the box. I was very nervous about taking Communications, but he made me feel at ease. Highly recommend!!!!!

As long as you follow his directions and do your outlines for your speeches the way he asks them to be done, you will get an A

I loved this class, it only had 8 of us so it was small. He has a lot of lecture but is very laid back and willing to help students whenever needed. Also the take home tests were very nice not as much pressure as other classes I have taken.

He is a very respectful professor, and always has something interesting going on in class. He made us feel easy about giving speeches. I feel he should have been more clear on how we needed our codes to be taped. I also feel he may grade too easy, and doesn't hold cards up to let us know our time is almost over for speaking. I loved having him.

Mr. Benton was a great teacher and class was a good time. We still covered the material, but he provided an enviornment that was relaxing especially for those who were nervous of public speaking.

I enjoyed Mr. Benton's class a lot! I can say that his class was the first class that I didn't miss a day, and it was doing summer semester! For someone that hates to stand in front of people to talk, he made it very easy. It was a 3 hour class, but Mr. Benton made the time go by quickly. Truly, the best class I've taken thus far! TAKE MR. B!!!

Prof. B was probably the best professor I've ever had at HACC. Class was always fun. You have to show up and do you speeches and if you do that, you'll be fine. His instructions are very clear and to the point and makes it easy to follow.

Benton is a great Speech teacher. He makes it very clear what is expected of you and will help you do well in his class if you seek assistance. If you follow his instructions and put in some work you will do just fine. He's also really funny.

This professor is awesome. He is so funny, and he is very laid back. You have to attend his class, but it won't hurt you if you miss a few classes.

He is an awesome professor I have ever met. Very easy going and he makes classeven easier. Very helpful outside of class too. If you put afford you will get and easy A in his class.

Pay close attention to details in the beginning of this class. The professor is laid back and a little old fashion, but take note, respect works both ways. Ask for help if needed. More feedback could have been given between speeches to better prepare you for the next one, but if you follow his outline and really do the work you will be fine.

Benton cares about you and will help you to be your best. I couldn't speak well in public before this class but he helped me work through that and now public speaking is a strength. He keeps the mood light and informal on speech days so you feel less stressed and on the spot. He's just a great guy and talking to him even outside of class is a joy!

Mr. Benton is a great Professor, he genuinely cares about his students and makes the class very enjoyable for everyone. Follow his outline procedures and you will do fine in his class.. GREAT GUY ALL AROUND!!

He is good. Guides you through step-by-step lectures. Uses teaching aids to make you understand what he is saying. Good teaching method. Provides good learning materials. He is easily accessible. He sends to you by e-mail regular reminders so you can prepare for your speeches and presentations. He is always ready to help out. I like him.
