Makes things make sense.
Prof. Champaign asks a ton from you (in terms of in-class energy and at-home homework), but then again you learn a ton too. Do everything he says when he says it, and you will pass for sure.
His lecture is heavily maco oriented. Meaning, all the learning in the class will stay with you for a fairly long amount of time. Also, I am sure this knowledge will be applicable on my life as well. I love this type of teaching in comparison to learning small detail that I know I would forget eventually.
He is super amazing, i will recommend everyone to take his course once. grading is super easy. He gives an easy quiz, just 3 quizzes in the whole sem. and 3 easy tests. Anyone can get an A in his class.
This guy really cares and really wants to see you succeed. there was this student in our class who kept hating on everyting he said and he was sooo patient, politely answering her every question. A class act.
Marc is an amazing prof, he really explains everything in super great detail relating it to real world examples for better understanding. Very nice and honest with his students, definitely cares about them succeeding. Makes understanding logic concepts very easy. His lectures are a bit intense though, but it's a small trade off.
Five journal entries worth 5% each; Group Presentation worth 15%; Three exams worth 20% each. Exams are based solely on in-class material, so make notes and attendance is a must. No readings outside of class. Not the easiest marker, but engaging lectures and interesting business cases. Solid prof, would recommend.
Hands down one of the best profs at Kwantlen! He is super easy going, and his exams are easy. You need to be there for the lecture because sometimes he may add a question in the exam regarding what he said in his lecture. All he wants is his students to succeed and he will help you do that if you show effort in the class! Highly recommend!!
He is the best professor. He is so intelligent in his feild. His tests are easy. He is very helpful.
Marc has a sophisticated teaching style. No textbook, only case studies discussed in class. Make sure not to miss class because everything said in class is exam material. Missing as little as one class can put your grade in jeopardy. Overall, Amazing instructor. Want to learn Business Ethics? Take Marc. Want to learn philosophy? Take other profs.
Marc asks you to be on top of your game for his 2 hour lectures. No textbook in the class. Everything tested in 3033 is from his case studies he presents or other students present. Five journal entries worth 5% each (follow the criteria), one group presentation worth 15%, 3 Exams worth 20% each. Attend and Participate. A truly caring professor.
Prof. Champagne is the best instructor Ive had at Kwantlen. He wants all of his students to find success and is always available if you need help. Only assignments were 5 journal entries, 2 exams and a quiz. There is no surprises for what is on the tests as he gives a detailed study guide 3 weeks before the exams and a review class the week before
I would 100% recommend Marc for business ethics. His classes and lectures are engaging and relevant. He is a fair grader and unlike the other professors for this course he focuses on critical thinking and building arguments rather than studying different philosophers and theories. No text, 3 exams (on cases), 5 reflections, and 1 group project.
Marc is the best prof I have ever had. He makes the classes really interesting and engaging. Marking is fair. I would love to take more of his classes.
Marc is one of the best teachers I've ever had. He is energetic, kind and truly excited to teach his students. He is a very thorough teacher, and although the course material can feel abstract at times (this is an algebra course), he walks students through the material, one baby step at a time. Great person, great teacher.
He is the best professor at kpu. He always wants his students to succeed. There are 4 entries based on lectures, 2 exams and 1 quiz. All are easy because he helps us alot for the preparations. He makes all the lectures very interesting. He loves philosophy.
Marc is a great professor and I loved being a part of his class. He's very energetic, approachable and knowledgeable. He gives his best effort to ensure everyone in class learns and helps everyone to participate. Exams are straight forwards with no surprises. 3 exams, 1 group project (easy one) and 5 journal entries. I recommend him 100%
It is not an introductory course for "Him". He wants exams answers to be professional as a PHD philosopher. He never ever answer to emails. Even though he said that this is an introduction course, but he makes this course very tough comparing to introductory level. NEVER DARE TO TAKE THIS PROF. FOR GPA BOOSTING. IT WILL MAKE YOUR GPA LOW.
Please do not take this course. Dont go after rating, he is really tough grader as well as his exams are really tough. You wont be able to boost your GPA by taking his class. DONT GO to LOW your GPA.
It was an introduction course, but he took it to another level. He wants his students to be professional philosopher in answering questions. He never replies to email. GPA course.
Lots of readings, he wants his journals to be answered as professional philosopher in an introduction course. Course not Good for GPA.
Is super involved in your educational needs and will go out of his way to make sure you understand the material, if you're willing to stay after class. He explains the concepts really thoroughly and in many ways to accommodate all of his students.
Amazing professor. He is very transparent and his lectures are amazing. He keep everything to the point and relates everything to what is being taught. The best prof Ive ever had hands down!!
Prof. Champagne is the best! He means well, but once you have the chance to talk to him after class, he is super passionate about philosophy and likes you more if you prove to him that you are a good student who enjoys philosophy as well. The intro class was a breeze and writing the 5 journals were very eye-opening. Remember, ''we are not gods.''
Great prof, gives concise feedbacks in regards to how to improve.
Great prof, very knowledgable and passionate about course materials. Classes are also very interesting, offers fun exercises for students to engage in.
Marc is one of the best prof's I have ever had at KPU. He loves education and his students. You really have to care about what is going on in class and do the readings/study but if you do it is an easy GPA booster. Just do the work, be engaged, and have fun!
Difficult
I m currently his PHIL 3033 student, and his class is super interesting, highly recommended.
Philosophy is hard, so you have to work hard but wit Marc you learn a ton too. He is super enthusiastic and his lectures are always mind-blowing. I will remember the stuff I learned all my life.
He cuts out all the useless stuff and teaches us what we can actually apply to real-life. Amazing.
Easily one of the best profs and classes I've taken. I don't normally like philosophy but he makes lectures super interesting and you learn things you can use for the rest of your life. Case studies are crucial as he uses them for the midterm and final. There are also 5 journal entries worth 5% each and 2 quizzes.
100% would absolutely recommend this professor!!! Marc is literally an amazing prof, he is very detailed in his teachings and honestly wants you to succeed so he encourages you to ask questions. He definitely creates a welcoming learning environment. Philosophy is actually a hard course in general, but Marc makes it worthwhile!
Really great prof. Not a philosophy student and normally have no interest in philosophy whatsoever but he really made the class interesting and enjoyable. People who give him bad ratings are probably just lazy and dont wanna do the work. 100% recommend for this class!
One of the best professor at KPU. Even though I don't like philosophy, but Dr. Marc made the live lectures engaging and interactive, that I always look forward to attend. The course material was from real world cases. After taking Dr. Marc's class, I now believe that philosophy can be used in real world. Thank you Dr. Marc for the great class.
amazing lectures, grades fairly
This guy was awesome. Class was enjoyable. The exams were unique and all of the assignments encouraged thinking and not just rote memorization. 10/10 would take any class taught by this man.
Marc is one of the best professors I've had in my university experience. It is not an easy class, but the material is beyond worth giving it the time. Marc teaches real, applicable life lessons in such an interesting and engaging way. He is hilarious and kind, and he provides a map for students to succeed - he genuinely wants you to succeed!
Best Prof. Ever. I suggest every students to take at least one course him. I learned many things. He is not so tough grader. He has clear grading criteria and easy to understand and write journal entries for every week.
Dr. Champagne makes lectures fun. He really wants his students to do well.
Dr. Champagne is a great prof who's very enthusiastic and passionate about Philosophy! He creates a fun and interactive learning environment. He has clear grading criteria and relates material to real-world cases. The course can be hard but don't be afraid to ask for help. Dr. Champagne provides good feedback and wants his students to succeed.
Marc is passionate about teaching and it shows in class, he is always there to support his students and wants to see us succeed. This course is tough, but do what he says! keep up with the lectures and practice and you should be fine
Marc's class is one you will remember. As a graduating student and compared to the other instructors, Marc works hard to motivate you to learn. GPA booster? Nope. However, If you want quality education, then take Marc's class POST1100. I only have taken one class with him, but I learned a lot. I'll wait for Winter Semester and take more.
Marc is an incredible professor - one of the best I've had in uni so far. Because of COVID, the course was offered online but he made it just as engaging, energizing, and interesting as an in person course. I HIGHLY recommend taking a course with Marc. This course specifically (cross listed as PHIL 1111?) was a life experience I am thankful to have
Intro to Formal logic was one of the best classes I've ever taken. The coursework challenging enough to make me work for my grades, but intuitive enough that it was still fun and straightforward. Marc laid everything out step by step, and I was never lost or confused. He made everyone feel heard, respected, and intelligent in their own way.
Terrific Professor. Loved his approach to the course. You are not same person when you started the course. That indicates he is teaching course well. Class discussions make you think things with new perspective. if you have him in your term. DO take him. But make sure to your effort in. Marc make things super clear. What to expect and how to respnd
Doing the homework was essential, but Marc was super clear and made me understand the content
I took this same class in Brazil, but it was way harder. Taking classes with Professor Marc was great. He can teach efficiently to every student, does not matter how difficult the topic is. His explanation is detailed and easy to follow, making his classes more fun and students more motivated to go to class.
Marc is terrific! Highly recommend taking any class with him. Lectures are amazing and he cares about students' feedback.
One of the few profs at KPU who actually really cares about his students. Would definitely take another of his classes as an elective if I could. That being said, he does expect you put in the effort to succeed in his class and it is worth it. He is also responsive to emails.
if you're new to philosophy, he isn't the easiest prof but does care about students
Marc is a great communicator and excellent teacher. The clear criteria and objectives make it easy, so if you study you pass. The readings material are interesting and useful beyond this class. He is fun, engaging and completely committed to make the most of our time in class and not waste our/his time. That's is respect man, Thanks Marc!
Amazing prof! Took this course for my agriculture program. Im not a philosophy student but I loved how he made lectures engaging with videos, pictures, questions and encouraged class interaction. He really wants his students to do well and while the material can be daunting he makes it clear makes it easy to ask questions. Would take again!
pros, straight to the point, funny, gives great feedback , cars about students, class participation helps you understand the topic better, attend lectures for they are really helpful! Cons,All or nothing exams! Not a fun since you only get like 3 major exams and 2 small quizzes. you need to practice alot!
can someone say if the phil 1150 exams are hard with him? are they difficult to pass?
Excellent teacher, cannot give high enough praise. Works hard to make learning and his class as easy as possible to digest, and and long as you put the work in you are basically guaranteed to succeed. I would take more of his classes in a heartbeat. Just make sure to actually do the work, or you won't understand.
He runs kind of hot and cold, can be your best friend, but can be harsh or rude. It's not personal though, he wants to see you succeed. Lots of homework yup, you'll need to practice if you want to pass. Really an excellent professor, tests aren't excessively long but he will make sure you know your stuff. Fair marking.
He checks everything you submit thoroughly and grades fairly, plus he's always available to discuss why you got particular grades. Amazing professor. would 100% take his class again. Looking forward to more classes with him. If you're interested in philosophy, this class is gonna be even more amazing. For sure, sign up!
He is the best professor i have ever seen. He can easily grab your attention and most importantly you will never fall asleep in his class due to his extraordinary way of teaching. For me his way of saying " GOOD MORNING EVERYONE, IF YOU CAN HEAR ME TYPE IN GOOD MORNING" boosts up me evertytime. He always gives the honest review.
This was the first time in my time at university that I felt I was getting something worth even more than what it costs to register. Amazing.
He is the most hilarious proff I have had till now and very knowledgeable about his subject. His classes are super fun and made kids wish to attend class. He is not a pushover and disciplined when it comes to assignments and deadlines.
He is not like Wayne Fenske or Puqun Li, which are both horrific profs in the PHIL department, check their ratings if you don't believe me. I recommend this guy if you need to take this class. You will fail with the other profs.
Simply the best
I never thought that I would learn more by watching films than by doing readings, but thanks to Mark this was honestly the best course I have taken at KPU. I will remember it foreover
This Prof delivers on his initial promise: this course will be the best course you ever take, in your entire life. Super interesting course, all taught using films, hence no textbook and no readings. Also teaches you valuable philosophical methods that you can use for the rest of your life. He really cares about his students; highly recommended!
He is the best. This course on technology by watching films was totally awesome.
This is a great course for those who loves technology and wondering what would happen in the future. Professor Champagne does great on leading you to think about the relationship between human and technology, and deeper into what should human behave to protect ourselves from destroying ourselves. Very nice course to take
With Prof. Champagne, if you put in the effort and do the work you'll do well. He's very enthusiastic about the course content and cares about his students. When he said it would be the best course of my life I was skeptical but he was right. It was a very interesting first philosophy course for me and I would highly recommend this class.
Marc is a professor who took over my philosophy class when my previous professor had to take leave due to a family crisis, in the short time I've had the pleasure to study under him he brought optimism and engagement to each class willing to hear and discuss with students and gave freedom of expression towards assignments.
He is amazing. His lectures are interesting and engaging, he gives feedbacks on the assignments and exams which are really helpful.
He is really good, and would make your class easy for you every week. Because he has the online session. It's great to learn so much from him in this course. Best professor ever!!
Great prof!
Marc is an amazing professor. The readings are tough and this is not an easy course. However, he breaks it down in such a way that the concepts are easy to grasp. However, you are going to have to work for your grade. Nothing is handed out and you have to earn your grade. He is hilarious and genuinely cares for all of his students.
please take him. He is one of the best professors. By best I mean he has a really good way of teaching through a movie. And yes he is a tough grader. If you make a small mistake you will get a zero. But, if you follow what he says, you will do really well.
Dr. Marc Champagne is an extremely knowledgeable professor of philosophy. He is super enthusiastic and engaging when he lectures. He treats each student reverently as an individual, and never patronizes their thoughts and ideas. His course content is challenging, but super interesting, and he expects his students to work hard. Highly recommend!
Awesome Prof, knows his stuff and teaches it well. The best thing about his class he treats you like an adult and expects you to behave like one. Don't take his class if you think he is easy. He is not easy but he does work hard to make the material understandable.
the best professor in my second semester. moreover, he helps a lot to guide students
He really enjoys teaching and making class fun. The criteria for the group project aren't very clear and he is a tough grader. The exams are a bit tough and require lots of studying. Overall, he is a great guy and a great prof.
his marking criteria is not good
Don't be fooled by all of these fake reviews here. Terrible prof. No different than Puqun Li or Wayne Fenske for this class or department. They're all terrible. Enjoy getting graded by exams only.
This prof is a nightmare. He responds to emails, but wont help with any questions. He wastes loads of class time. His exams are difficult and he is an extremely tough grader. Will 100% never take another class with him
I took Professor Champagne for PHIL 3033. The one thing I loved the most about Professor Champagne is his lectures, they are informative and interactive at the same time. His classes really make students think as well. Exams are a little difficult as they consist of 5 written questions and are graded a little harder. No textbooks needed either.
Marc is one of the best professors I have had so far at KPU. The format of the class was online and if you showed up to the lectures, you were basically done for the week. The homework for each was pretty easy to do and very straight forward. Lectures are honestly very fun If you participate in the questions he asks.I would definitely recommend him
He basically teach us 3 skills in the course of 3 months and by every month difficulty level increases so try to get the best grade possible in the very first skills and you should be fine the rest of semester. I wasn't that much worried about finals because I already secured my passing percentile from the start of semester through initial tests.
I will never suggest anyone to take this professor! He is hilarious as a teacher and do really poor grading.
I completely reject the previous review here that said his logic class is the same as Fenske or Li's. I've seen them all teach and I can say without a doubt that Marc Champange is the best person for the job of teaching you Logic. Best @ KPU. Trust this man with your education - he cares and he leaves no one behind who is willing to do the work.
Dr. Champagne is, hands down, the best philosophy professor I've studied with. Despite being online, Marc's classes are deeply engaging, profound, and entertaining. He also provides a ton of supplemental material that is actually helpful and relevant. Marc is a thorough marker, but as long as you give the class your best, he will support you.
If you're taking a philosophy course I would highly recommend Marc. He's so engaged and passionate about the subject and explains things such a clear concise way including what he expects from students to do well. As long as you're doing the work you'll do just fine. Marc is a phenomenal professor.
Super engaging prof. Encouraged lots of class participation which actually helped me to pay attention unlike other online courses I've taken. He had us write about something we "changed our mind on" after a few classes, and a few times I had to make up some random nonsense to get the mark. Good experience overall, though.
Overall his lectures are fun and engaging. My only complaint is that his marking is inconsistent and tough. The mid term and final were graded harder than the assignments.
Best logic teacher. Hes actually put all his lectures on YouTube, so people should have a look for themself
No complaints from him. Class was online but didn't feel like that because it was engaging.Always available outside the class and actually reads his emails. Please do all the assignments on time and you will rock the course , excuses like bad internet or my dog ate my homework ain't gonna work. He will simply give you a 0 without second thoughts.
He is nice instructor fun attending
Interesting instructor, maybe will take his another class in the future.
Marc, is one of the excellent professors we have at KPU. This was my first time taking a philosophy course and I was super scared. But I really enjoyed his classes, he's super enthusiastic about the philosophy. Definitely you need to put efforts in this course I would recommend to rewatch his lecture videos, and lecture notes. - Ishaan
he is great professor. I would 100% recommend this professor. explain everything very well and clear deadlines. No late assignments accepted and he was clear and loud about this from the starting of the course.
He is great prof. will take him again in future.
Engaging and interesting lectures. You won't get bored.
Prof is great, and I like how he interacts and helps every single time if you dont understand anything.
He is well-prepared and passionate. I recommend him.
First two-thirds of the class if pretty easy to grasp if you do the practice assignments and homework. Last third of the class is challenging. It is possible to get 100% in the 1st, two-thirds of the class. I would advise to ensure that is secured so you have a passing grade.
He actually cares about the students. He is really nice and fun.
Great learning experience. Probably one of the best professors i've had thus far in my 3 years. Just show up, listen, and participate. guarantee you will succeed! He is very respectful, intelligent, very fair, treats you like a group of rational adults, and provides excellent course resources to set you up for success. I recommend!
Professor Champagne is a breath of fresh air in comparison to other professors. He is energized, enthusiastic and excited to teach during his lectures. Word of advice: DON'T BE LAZY! Anyone can easily succeed and achieve a really high mark in this class, if they actually apply themselves.
Very good and clear prof, class isn't super difficult but you definitely need to study and attend the lectures to do well.
Marc was such an amazing prof, he goes out of his way to make sure you understand and enjoy the class, he explains concepts clearly, makes the material engaging, and truly cares about student success and was always willing to help.
