Very awesome human being! Keeps class interesting, and chooses very good topics.
I took her women in literature class. It was taught at a high school level at the highest, an absolute waste of time. Also, she is the bad teacher that convinced a friend with her ineptness that college wasn't worth it. He works in retail now.
really on a power trip she forces her own political opinions on to the class and defiantly picks her favorites, which are usually those who are brown noses and agree with everything she says not only that she doesn't teach English
Only bad thing is that you need to do the 60 hrs community service in this class but if you can then you can get a good grade
Most of the class revolved the assigned readings which were all pretty easy reads. Grade is majorly based on four essays. As long as you write what she wants to hear (even if it's BS) you'll pass this class with flying colors!
1st of all not 60 hrs its only 12 and this was a breeze just show up and be active. dont be a dummy. contribute and you will pass. best class ever
Marc is great if you are on her good side. You only write four essays during the quarter and they are easy. Also you work in Familias which I think is great beacuse you get to really know your classmates.
Marc turns sitting in a classroom to learn english something fun, you get to get out of the classroom, meet in the park, have a potluck/potlatch and enojoy taking her class. 1 major research paper broken into parts, and fun community activities that will get you up and living a little :] I definitely recommend the class to anyone!
talk about the best
was expecting something bad but not like everyone said
I don't understand what everyone is saying about this class. You just do the essays and what else assignments she has and you participate sometimes. if you need help get her help before you turn in essay
yea alright, let the learning begin
The class wasn't hard. 3 group discussions and 3 essays. She does favor her LEAD students though. Pushes hard on Latino equality.
All about Mexican equality - annoying. It seems as if she favors the Mexicans in the class and tries to get everyone else to drop. She is very rude and not approachable in the least bit. She says lots of side comments that are totally unnecessary and thinks she deserves respect, but she doesn't. Hated her attitude. Easy Class. Lots of reading.
She favors her previous students and LEAD students. The 12 hours of community service is a great way of giving back to the community, but they are mandatory to pass the class and when I had her class, we moved tan bark for hours. Not my idea of fun. Familias are a great idea and gives a chance for the students to communicate. Pretentious & annoying
She does favor her previous students as well as her LEAD students. She is very EASY! The group discussions we have are graded by your peers. The little writting assingments we had were simple and graded easy as well. She is nice for the most part.
Marc is one of those teachers who really wants to get to know her students and can become a great mentor and friend if you want her to. She does have a bit of a strong personality but she's not mean. The class can be an easy A if you keep up with the reading. And ALWAYS BRING YOUR BOOKS. And do things with your familia, they're your support system.
First of all, she is the worst teacher i have ever met !!!!! The peer rating is just fake!!! Dont believe it! she changes the result!!!!!!!! If you are a Latino, you can an A without a need to make effort. If you are asian, you will be hard to get an A even you write the essay well. The only way to get a better grade is to kiss her ass!!!
she is definitely a witch!!!she just grades ppl by what she thinks about their students. The peer rating is just fake!!!!! she changes the result!!she likes to pretend how nice she is !!also! she said she often comes to this website to report those comments negatively talking about her! I think my comment will be soon reported!!!
horrible!!!! avoid her!! Trust me !!!
THERE IS MUCH TO SAY ABOUT MARC. FIRST I DONT KNOW WHAT STUPID IDIOTS SAY SHE IS RACIST, SHE IS NOT RACIST AT ALL PERIOD.IF U WANT TO BE HELPED SHE WILL HELP YOU...SHE IS AT THE WRC ALMOST ALL FREAKING DAY SO IF U FAIL ITS YOUR OWN FAULT. I HAD THE BEST EXPERIENCE IN HER LART CLASS.VERY NICE, UNDERSTANDING, MOST OF ALL HELPFUL,BEST TEACHER AT (DAC)
THE BEST TEACHER AT DE ANZA.I will take her 1A class.I strongly agree she is not **** but she does expect u to do more than try and thats what makes her a great teacher.she builds a confort level that makes u want to try your best in her class she is a person who will inspire you to reach your goeals not only hispanics I am Italian she awsome.
Marc is an awesome teacher. Very helpful and wants to help all her students become college level. Always in Office for extra help. She likes to get to know you...Definetly encourage taking her :)
Marc is an amazing person and instructor. Yes her class is difficult, but hello this is college! She expects a lot but she gives back much more. Her class opened my mind and was an amazing adventure. Marc actually teaches you about real world issues and gives you the chance to get involved. I highly recommend any of her classes!
Before taking this class, I read a comment on here that said she favors her LEAD and previous students. I gave her the benefit of the doubt and took the class anyway, since every other comment about her on here was generally positive. Well boy, was I horribly mistaken. She barely acknowledges her non-LEAD students.
I took her class a couple of quarters ago and even though she is supposedly one of the best writing teachers for 1A. She is not good for Ewrt2A. She definitely favors her Lead and previous students and ignore the rest. She doesn't make the effort to want to help you with your papers. She doesn't seem very encouraging, it is as if she doesn't care.
the class was ok. i tried to submit my volunteer hours one quarter after taking the class so that i could state them in my transfer application, but she pretty much just said too bad. how hard can it be to confirm the hours that someone volunteered so that they could get into college? in her defense, i was late several times and high all the time
Dont take her... It require you to do community serv., it was ok, but when she sent us the activities and the dates it was a lot of hours out of class! She MUST learn that her class is not the only one that the students are taking. LEARN to get OVER the LEAD activities. DONT TAKE HER. She thinks this a social service class... WRONG! Fail4 HER
Fun class! We went to Angel Island, had a potluck, did cool community service work and learned a lot about immigration. It was something different than a regular English class.... but I liked it.
Don't ever take this class. I took it on the reviews of everyone else. bad idea. She is very extreme and way liberal. If you are Conservative drop it. She is so far left winged that its her thoughts or no thoughts. Just beware if you take the class.
I took Marc's online Chicano's Studies Literature class. There was a lot of reading but you have to stay on top of it or you will fall behind. I have to say that I was a NON-LEAD student and I got the same amount of help. She offered extra credit. Overall I enjoyed the class. I would definitely recommend.
Don't waste your time.
Wow! What can I say? Marc is absolutely useless as a professor, mostly because she is so incredibly biased and does not let students float opposing viewpoints. If you come across as remotely moderate, forget it. She favors her Lead students, and the funny thing is that she's not even really a Latina! She's a total fraud.
Great Instructor, love the interest in social justice.
she favors previous students! lots of reading assignments. many daily doubles. community service is easy and fun to do! easy A if you're willing to do all the work load.
wow went in the first day and already can see her bias towards former students. didn't even bother acknowledging anyone else but previous students. tried to scare everyone who didn't take her previously away from taking the class. class all bout mexican injustice and how they are not treated equally and face discrimination.should change name course
Awesome!
This teacher is VERY offensive and honestly the worst teacher I've come across. She was NO help at all. Any student who didn't agree with what she believed in(Very Biased), she would always have something to say or argue. Your opinion is definately not allowed in this class. She said things that would offend many people.
An average professor at best. She doesn't teach much and you really have to work hard on the essays to get an A. You also have to go on a field trip and work outside of the class each week. This class talks undocumented immigrants and that can get overwhelming at times. By the end of the quarter less than one third of the class showed up.
This class is totally mislabeled. REQUIRED attendance for outside events and volunteering? I was ok with the comm. serv. but all the other requirements are so unnecessary. And she very much so favors her LEAD students. This isn't even an English class. I didn't want a bunch of one-sided opinions shoved down my throat all quarter so I dropped it.
just try, if she doesnt help then she is not really as great as she thinks she is
Very nice teacher. To get an A, all you need to do is write the essays and participate a lot. This is not a normal english class. Involves community service projects and activities on your own time, outside the class and is graded on participation as well. Lots of discussions and presentations. Nice chill teacher not a lot of work! Take her
Came into the class without any prior LEAD classes. I am leaving the room with a new sense of social justice. Teacher is very nice & the assignments are a piece of cake! Just prove that you are trying & willing to participate and your grades will reflect it. Structure of the classroom is the best. This is by far my favorite class at DeAnza!
Online Chicano Literature class. Weekly reading and response assignments but texts are easy reading and engaging. 4 short essays - 2 on readings, 2 on films you need to watch. Short lectures. Some extra credit opportunities. Interesting content!
Marc class is a joke. It is easy but a waste of time. She favors people but as soon as you disagree she immediately dislikes you. If you want to spend your time learning what most of us already know take her class. But I advise you this person should not be a teacher.
she told me my grades were tinted by her vision of me.... I think thats agains the law. She does have favorites and she is on a power trip... its a 50/50 chance you will get the grade you deserve.
Although I didn't quite learn how to improve my writing skills, I did acquire a lot of knowledge about where our food comes from, farm worker's rights, and social and economic injustice in our world. Although there is more community work involved, I do not regret taking her LEAD EWRT1A class because it has made my college courses more interesting.
Took her LEAD class, and it was great fun. You don't really focus on writing, but instead on social issues. While my writing didn't quite improve, I got to learn a lot of other things and bond with my classmates. :D There's a field trip, toooo~
TERRIBLE. She is on a complete power trip, only ever wants to talk about herself and things she's done. Berates people when they don't agree with her specific ideas. If you want to be brainwashed, take this class. If you want to keep your own opinons and questions, go somewhere else. It's insulting that my tuition pays her salary.
SHE IS BY FAR THE BEST TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD! SHE CHANGED MY PERSPECTIVE OF THINKING. LEAD! IS SO MUCH FUN! YOU WONT REGRET IT
I am so happy I took this class. However, if you do not like working with others, this is not the class for you. You are in groups throughout the WHOLE quarter, which I enjoyed. Mandatory reading. 2 books. One research paper. Several refections on group work. She is very helpful and cares about social injustices. Does not take attendance. AWESOME.
I liked Marcs class. Even though there were many readings and daily doubles, it was rather easy. You have 1 field trip, a couple familia group discussions, 1 conference and 3 reflections, it was rather easy class. I thought i wasnt gonna like the class in the beginning, but by the end i had fun. she tries to make the class easy for everyone
Fairly easy class, but not about English at all. This is really a Latino Studies class in disguise. Instead of improving your writing, you will learn about social issues in Tucson. I took this class to improve my writing and got nothing. She is very liberal and opinionated, so be sure to agree with her and you will do well.
AVOID HER. You can only ask 3 ?'s per class. So bias, talking about how women should be equal yet saying other races couldn't teach about other races cause they don't know. Never can participate in activities, would always cut people off. Favorites her leaders. Quizzes are literally sentences out of the books. Puts ppl on the spot. Plain rude
This is basically a Latino studies class. Nothing to do with English. :( She offers NO Extra credit, and doesnt care about the grade you get. Dont take this class
This is a Latino Studies class as other reviewer said. Learned nothing to improve English writing, but instead only read and read about Latino and get brain-washed? Had to drop the class because essays and especially final essay are about supporting Mexicans, and I feel like have nothing to talk about since weekly forum post are all about this
if you are an international student, do not take this class!!!!! As others said, this class was not an English class, you will only learn how old American discriminated other colored people back to 1940's. she taught nothing but let you read your own and write your own. i accidentally chose her class and had to drop it with W. it wasting my time!
Dr. Coronado can be very straight forward when it comes to evaluating you and/or the class. However her level of honesty can be quite discouraging and embarrassing. She expects detailed and eloquent writing--also is very strict with grammar and structure when it comes to English 1A.
Over all a pretty easy class. Turn in your work on time, follow the assignment instructions and you should be fine. The class has a mandatory field trip and and a service learning event but there really fun and you learn a lot from them. After taking Marcs LEAD class I became more interested in the different LEAD courses they offer. Recommend!
If your enrolling into a English that is going to teach you how to improve your writing skills, then please look for another class.
This class changed my views on everything. I can now call myself a true feminist! Super easy, we had familias that we discussed readings in every day and its totally student teaching student learning. Marc can be a little hard on you but most of the time she wants to hear our thoughts and opinions! Everyone should take her WMST class.
Really enjoyed this class. It was my first online class and loved every part about it. The homework load was perfect and you could earn extra points by posting your homework early in the week. The field trip to Watsonville was a eye opening experience. The only negative was that Marc did not go on the field trip with us. Great class all around.
Will NOT respond to emails or phone messages and has her "assistant" intercept office hours visitors. Dropped me from the online class for not signing in on July 4th. No warning email. This woman not helpful to students at all.
Will NOT respond to emails or phone messages and has her "assistant" intercept office hours visitors. Dropped me from the online class for not signing in on July 4th without a courtesy warning. This woman not helpful to students at all!!
If you're not someone who's able to pick up on things on your own then just don't take her online class. Or just don't take online classes at all.. I see people complaining about her not getting back to them but she always responded to my emails.. Anyway I enjoyed her class!
I felt like Marc focused on teaching students the lives about Chicanos and not writing skillsEnglish. She was very rude at the picnic our online class had and one girl even left on the spot because of Marc's comment to her. It's an easy class if you participate on online discussions but don't expect to learn new writing skills.
Marc teaches LEAD classes, which means working in "Familias", which are small groups that you work with all quarter. Each Familia has a "mentor" who maymay not be taking the class for credit with you, and who helps lead group projects and is the liason between us and Marc. This was her first time teaching ISC30, but it was a blast!
Professor Coronado was an amazing professor who made the course very interesting. The class being online was clear cut on what was necessary to be successful in passing the course. As long as you participate, do the readings and HW you will be fine. I recommend taking this course online!
Her assignments were kind of easy to complete and I found good friends in that class but she got annoyed or ticked whenever I tried asking her too many questions.
The class is straight forward, if you don't like reading this class is NOT for you. Of-course given the fact it's a Literature class it's safe to say you would assume that. The content of the course is priceless. The instructor is straight forward and not afraid to say it like it is! I wish I could take this course over again! Chicano Lit.
EASY A class! Just participate in the weekly discussions and show understanding of the content in the papers and you're grade will take of from there. That being said, the class was a breeze and was very interesting!
My FAVORITE professor! I just love her class and herself both as a professor and a person. Very helpful and cares about her students. Take her:)
Didn't learn anything about english, it is more of a class on immigration history and laws. Just had to get through the class to get the grade. If you are interested in that then it's a great class, but if you want to learn how to better your writing or read some well-written books don't bother.
taking this class in summer. its pretty easy as long you make time to complete her two quizzes, one due monday and another due thursday. occasionally some response papers only need 330 words. final is making a powerpoint and a writeup. need a fieldtrip and draw 3 sketches. about effort not quality. make time for her long lectures on itunes-u
I recently just moved so I had to take online classes ... I didn't really care what professor I got but after this experience I will defiantly be researching. This teacher didn't even let me know how I was doing in the class and never offered to help... Worst teacher ever.
Yes, there are quizzes! You have to read in order to do well. She assigns the students to be in "familias" which you have to sit with, present with, and bring food. If you are assigned to be with lazy people who don't read or participate, then it will affect your grade!! Also, don't use your cell phone or she will drop you from the class.
I loved this class!! Teacher goes over the assigned readings so BE SURE YOU READ & also bring your book all the time, she will kick you out of the class if you don't. Also, be ready to work with a familia and to participate in class A LOT. Final is super easy, she usually assigns either a test or a reflection that are due every Friday.
First online class and it was the best ! Do all your work and you'll get an A . You will accually learn new things , this is not a class to waste time , a lot of ready and 3 essay but there easy . I loved this class and totally would take her again!!!!
Her online EWRT1A was actually very interesting and relatively easy. 3 essays and weekly discussion posts. No in-class essay. I learned a lot by reading the books. Highly recommended.
I loved the people that my class consisted of but was upset with my final grade. She doesn't really grade much which doesn't give you much help with knowing where you stand in her class. Personally i felt disappointed. A must is to bring your book to class all the time we go over many lectures & she expects you to have read them before the lecture.
I don't know about her face-to-face class, but her online English class was fairly easy. Just read the assigned books and you'll be fine. Easy grader. Don't expect to learn how to write.
She's a pretty blunt/rude person, makes the class kind of unpleasant to go to day after day even if you enjoy the subject. Read the books have a basic understanding of them, do the assignments and you'll pass. The class isn't very hard but she is a tough grader.
I think she needs to get more than 5! English is not my second language, and I had no problem getting A in her class. Following her guidelines made me a better writer.
She expects to come to class having read the material. If you come to class without reading or bringing material she will kick you out. She grades tough for the type of assignments she assigns. She can be rude & sensitive of the topics she teaches. Though you do all her work she will still give you a bad grade if its not to her expectation.
It is an interesting online class. Homework is done every week. A lot of extra credit for this class. I enjoy learning this class.
Lots of extra credit opportunities. Homework due every Friday. Easy and interesting class.
Marc made my first year at De Anza amazing! If you are interested in Social Justice and love discussions, then this is the class for you. Her class was never boring. She encourages students to share their opinions and talk to each other. Very unique and special teacher! I have already taken her twice, and I don't regret it :D
Honestly, not the best professor for writing. Her class would feel more like cultural studies class, rather than a EWRT class. But if you are willing to follow the instruction then you can ace it. On a side note, she emphasizes on critical thinking, a lot. However, I got an A. So I have no complaints. Thankyou
Some students love her and some don't. I've never been so disappointed in a professor. While she is passionate about women's studies she lacks emotional self-awareness. She runs her class like a book-club and at times cursed at students. I wanted to like this class but she made it unnecessarily difficult. She was unprofessional, to say the least.
She was very reasonable with the amount of work given. She was also very clear what was expected of assignments, if you followed directions and kept up with class discussions you will pass.
Very self centered, you ask for help good luck, very unclear about how she wants an assignment done. Must be done her way who cares about your input on a topic.
No tests/quizzes. Passionate about social justice. Discussion oriented class. Minimal reading. Skim materials before class and participate in discussion. Group project heavy but done in a way where it's fun and doable. You would have to TRY to fail the course. Sign up for the class and get a lifelong mentor. Marc is great!
Coronado was such a rude professor. Shes also an English teacher so shes a little stricter than most ics professors, but thats not the problem. She doesnt care that people have lives outside of school and shes condescending in her emails to her students. I will never take her again. Beware if you take her courses.
Coronado's course was very interesting, and was a very enjoyable class. The directions are straightforward, and Coronado makes her directions clear. If you follow directions, you will have no problem with this class!!
This was my first online class and overall I thought the workload was manageable. I got an A. There is a lot of reading but if you are good at skimming and taking main points you can skip some of it. Interesting topic carried throughout the course. Three essays and weekly discussion posts. No quizzes or tests. Would recommend.
Marc's WMST1 class was very thought provoking. The books & videos she had us watch for assignments & discussions were helpful in approaching feminism from a different angle, very helpful in helping understand why it is important other than the typical stuff you see preached on social media. Gave comments on posts, I will try to take her ICS class!
For ARTS2F, you need to buy a lot of book so go to the bookstore early. The books really are fascinating and the entire quarter is group projects doing their presentations. One group brings breakfast for the entire class so free food!! She has very strong opinions on some issues regarding politics, race and religion but she has good intentions.
I really enjoyed this class and really enjoyed the work that was assigned. I wasnt overwhelmed by the work and even after missing an assignment, I was able to do some (very straight forward) extra credit. I was given feedback on most assignments which i appreciated and would easily recommend this class to a friend.
Taken during the summer quarter: 10 discussions, 1 Essay. Intriguing class. Terribly easy. Do the work, participate get an A. Marc is straight to the point and knows her stuff. Second class with her and love the content of her classes.
Professor Coronado assigned really interesting books to read, which are all comic book style, which were easier to digest than normal books. All the assigned reading touched up on people's experiences during wartime, immigration, or social justice movements, which were all really cool. However, if you don't like writing, then don't take her class.
Professor Coronado is a good teacher, took her during the shelter in place spring quarter so it was online. It's an easy A, weekly discussions, 2 projects, & 1 final assignment. She did assign 3 books, but they are comics so it wasn't very hard to read. Overall a smooth class, never really worried about it!
Marc was great to take a class from during the pandemic. Weekly check-in, weekly discussion, then a few papers (500-700 words each), no tests. She might have lightened the load a little given the hardships people are facing, but nonetheless her class was awesome. Easy reading material and very inspirational. TAKE THIS CLASS! You won't regret it.
Honestly loved taking Dr. Coronado's class. Easy A. Just do the reading and the assignments and you'll pass
Ok this was an easy one. Weekly discussions, a final project, recreation of an artwork at home, that's pretty much it. She assigned three readings that are available free online so don't bother buying them. Pretty simple format too, she provided me with extension when I asked for it. Professor Coronado is a solid choice, easy to navigate
Such a great professor!! Coronado has a discussion post every week where we talked about how we were doing (during quarantine). We had 3 discussion posts all due on Fridays. Posts took some time but I literally got full credit on every post and paper. As long as you try your best you should get at least a B
I absolutely LOVE professor Coronado! She's an amazing teacher who genuinely cares about the well being of her students. Her course is mainly graded on discussions each week on readings. She likes to tie her courses into real world situations so I think the class is more interesting that way since it is more relatable. She gives a lot of xtra cred.
I think professor Coronado is wonderful.. the class is basically 2 discussion posts every week and extra credit too. She understands that we're all stressed by the pandemic and doesn't want to stress her students out more, all teachers should be like that. I highly recommend her class!
I love professor Coronado, I took women studies with her and Ewrt 2 . Both classes are amazing. weekly discussions, 2 reflections, a final(super easy). I learned a lot from both classes and enjoyed replying to the discussions. She's very caring, take her if you get the chance. you won't regret it.
I loved taking this course with Professor Coronado. Participation matters in weekly discussions and weekly reading is not overwhelming. You do need to read in order to submit weekly assignments which is no shocker. Work assigned is meaningful and the feedback provided with every assignment is very much appreciated.
Professor Coronado is amazing. I would highly recommend her class. Be prepared to read: novels, plays and anthologies.
Not clear with requirements. Unfair grading system. Gets quickly irate with students who ask detailed questions about requirements of assignments. This class is LatinX more than Chicano literature, and also brings up topics not connected with the LatinX subject not in the syllabus. Make sure you copy all completed assignments and responses.
The class was easier than I expected. I honestly wish it was more engaging but its material was interesting. You have to do two discussion posts a week, and sometimes write a mini essay. Pretty good.
SHE IS THE BEST PROFESSOR FOR ENGLISH DEPARTMENT!!!! 2 weekly discussions which only take like 30 min to do if you're a native English speaker( English is not my first language but each discussion didn't take more than an hour to do.) Lots of extra credit opportunities, 2 essays which are super easy. take her!! You won't regret it!!!
I have taken 4 of Professor/Dr Coronados classes. EWRT2, ICS 35, WMST 24, and ARTS2F. These were all online. She is amazing. Do the assignments, show effort and you will pass with an A. Give your work some thought and it goes a long way. Gives lots of extra credit. No online classes to attend. There are no tests. Essays are photo essays!
I took Marc for a previous course a couple of years ago and found it pretty straightforward and her pretty kind. Unfortunately I can't say the same this time around. She seems to take the stress of her covid workload out on students if you ask her anything.
This is probably the worst Professor at De Anza, grades based on if she has a bad day or is stressed out or not. Gives no constructive feedback at all. She shouldnt be teaching if she continues to take out her emotions on her students. Awful! Avoid at all costs!
Professor Coronado was a pretty easy grader and her assignments were interesting and engaging. Every week there was a module about yourself like your current favorite song which was super fun and relaxing. And there was weekly readings and discussion posts. However, she snapped at me in an email for no reason which led me to have mixed feelings.
Terrible professor, shes awful and gets annoyed when students ask for clarification or help on any assignments. I simply asked why I got the grade I got on an assignment and what I could do better, she completely ignored me, I messaged her on all forms of contact and nothing. She shouldnt be a professor. Seriously.
Currently dealing with her BAD character. Gets frustrated easily with the most minimum things. Students cant ask for clarification, or help, because some how we should already know. Makes me just want to stop taking classes, people like her shouldnt be a teacher, all she does is discourage students.
She takes full points away if you quote wrong, if you forget to add page numbers and if she doesnt like the way you explained. She wants you to do it like she would, if you dont, she will give you a 0 every time even if you try or even if you followed the directions.
The class was enjoyable and I learned a lot about feminism. There were two assigned books, weekly articles, and videos. The class mainly consisted of discussion posts, where we had to answer prompts related to feminism. As long as you read/watch all the assigned materials, and put effort in your work, you will do well/learn in the class.
I took her class back in 2020 and i remember she was a strict grader but shes really understanding. I only struggled because I was lazy. its college and people seem to forget that theres no such thing as easy grading. She could be easy if you keep up with all her work but if you slack you wont pass.
Very straight forward class. She will give you zero points for not quoting or putting page numbers the right way, but just make sure to read on how to earn discussion points. Super easy class if you just read the directions. Two discussions a week and A LOT of extra credit! Grades very quickly.
She is great & her material is straightforward, do the readings and you will get a A
Amazing professor. We had two books for the quarter. If you read the assigned books and submitted the assignment on time with quotes, its Easy A. She is easy grader and very chill! I will definitely take her other classes!
A fantastic professor, fantastic class. I learned so much and I felt like this class has the perfect balance of writing-reading-discussions. Two discussions a week, two books to read and cite. Overall a really great person as well as a great educator. Take this class! Lots of writing, but if you like it it won't be a problem :)
There are weekly discussions that require you to read and quote from the assigned books. There are a couple essays too that are also based on the books and your experiences. Grading criteria is clear and as long as your read and follow the instructions for how to post discussions, you will be good.
This class was easy and work amount was good. 2 discussions and 1 check in every week. You are required to get 2 books so get ready to read for discussions and homework. Like I said, this class was easy I took it Winter 2022 and it was an asynchronous class. Just do your work and you'll pass. Don't rely on her comments because they're not helpful.
Funny professor! She's so relatable and friendly. Her class is super straightforward, with weekly discussions & readings. It's easy and you can write abt your life. She gives lots of extra credit per week and I recommend doing them. Midterms/final are essays but prompts are related to discussions & readings. She responds to emails super fast too!
very nice teacher and clear grading criteria. for the first 6 weeks you watch videos+articles from module, write 1 post per week. after than, read 1 book and weekly discussion posts. no quizzes, 1 paper as midterm, 1 as final. no extra credit, I'd say very easy GE class but also interesting
Took her fully online class for WMST1. Clear grading & layout. 2 PDF books you read throughout the quarter & a few articles/videos. 2 weekly discussions that go with the material. No tests; just 2 papers, one being the final. Extra credit is offered. She is nice & does reply back! Only thing that sucks is NO late work accepted NO matter the reason.
As long as you read the books & do the weekly discussions, you should be able to get a good grade. The discussions do require some reading/watching videos & writing but it's manageable because it's always due every Friday before midnight. Extra credit is offered. No late work is accepted at ALL even with a good reason - trust me I've tried.
Professor Coronado was great. We had to read 2 books little by little and quote frequently in the weekly discussion posts to earn points. The materials we read were thought-provoking. She also offered extra credits every week. She was a fair grader for the 3 essays, as long as you submit on time and meet the requirements. Would recommend.
Her work is overwhelming, with 1-2 discussions per week and another for check-in purposes. She does not accept late work at all so don't even try to convince her, it's literally in her syllabus. 3 essays total, no test, but honestly it wasn't too bad overall. Just do it ahead of time. She is strict with grammar errors though. But I learned a lot!
Solid class and solid professor, 1 - 2 discussions every week and I believe at least 2 - 3 essays. The books seem intimidating at first but the material is pretty easy to understand (and interesting too), and the discussions aren't bad, they're pretty easy if you start early. Same with the essays.
There's three assignments weekly, a check-in and two discussions, there's two required textbooks (free pdf version for each), you'll be quoting them for each discussion, three essays total, two essays have no length requirement, one requires 3-4 pages (one essay is the final), super easy, got 100% in the class, no late acceptations on assignments.
Both an easy A, and a great class for learning about feminism. As long as you quote the reading and make a proper in-text citation, you will get 100% on every assignment. She also has weekly extra credit opportunities. If you do all the extra credit you can have enough to skip the final and still get 100% in the class. She grades fast too
Easy A class for GE. Weekly discussions, check-ins and 3 essays in total. I ended with a 100% as it's basically all writing about your opinion. Professor is very passionate about this topic and as long as you're respectful, you'll get an A. Two books but she provides both and they're both pretty interesting.
Content mainly comprised of discussion posts based on the required reading. Barely any essays except for the final.
I loved Professor Marc Coronado's class, her topics, and her working style. You'll learn a lot by participating in group learning. Homework and assignments are easy if you spend some time researching and writing your opinion. Some general classes are just to pass but her classes are honors, more academically challenging, and prestigious.
2 discussion posts a week, one is a short check-in, the other is in-depth and uses reading material, and you have to reply to someone for full credit. 2 pretty easy essays (I did the night of and got 100!), 1 longer essay for the final. Overall if you just don't get lazy and read it'll be super easy. Only con is ZERO acceptions for late work!
No late work accepted no matter what. I had been in the hospital all week due to covid and I still got up and tried turning in assignments and all they had to say was that I had plenty of days to do the work before hand. I was sick. Too much work and no lineage.
Professor Coronado's class was one of the easiest that I have taken at DA. As stated in the syllabus, late work is not excepted. With that being said, you have a week to do the discussion post as well as a check-in. 2 essays and a written final. Watch/read 2-3 pieces of content per week-not difficult. Class was interesting, gained new perspectives.
WMST D008 online async and would highly recommend. Weekly discussion based on 2-4 videos/reading and a simple weekly check in. No late work but there's extra credit. He takes some time to get back to emails. Goes easy for finals. Overall learned a lot without an overly heavy workload. Very doable.
Had the absolute time of my life doing jack sh!t in this class. 5 credits but felt like 2. I didn't really read anything, I just wrote about immigration and got more than 100%. My only warning is to read the syllabus -- do not turn in work late (as everyone else has said already).
I had Professor Coronado in my fall quarter and her class was tolerable. You'll need to read 2 books to answer the discussion posts and she grades okay, but she takes no late work no matter what. Students in my class had very valid reasons for not turning in work and she had no empathy to give them more time to make them up.
Easy class but she doesn't teach (textbook heavy). Assignments are discussion posts, check-ins, and 3 essays total (including final). Strict grading but she's straightforward about what she wants from the start. Would recommend class but would not recommend professor. Very unreasonable, no extensions at all and rude if she doesn't like your answer.
Terrible!! Doesn't accept late work. Wants you to put in over 100% effort into the discussions. Very strict grader will dock you more than half points if it's not exactly to par. Also very rude with grading and comments. I thought this class would be fun but it was horrible.
super rude and unreasonable with grading, took away points on assignments because of things she did not mention in the instructions at all and just gives a rude response when you question why she took off points and if you can make it up.
Professor Coronado has a specific teaching style, but engaging with it pays off. The workload is heavy, but manageable. unstuck study and the free textbooks helped me ace this class.
Took this async, was pretty easy overall. There were 2 books that all our assignments were based off, the assignments for every week were a check in question (basically a free point) + 2 discussion posts, all due on Friday night. 2 papers to do but they're graded pretty leniently, just meet the requirements. No late work accepted tho so watch out
