One of my favorite professors I've taken. Makes classes interesting by using real-world examples and tying them into the lectures. Quizzes aren't too bad if you review the casebook and understand the different concepts. Recommend participating in class to get a better understanding of the material. Overall great professor.
I really liked professor Davenport, I just didn't like the class material or the setup of the course. The quizzes are designed to trick you sometimes which is rough towards the end of the semester. Also, the final is 85 questions which is not normal or feasible to study for. He's a great guy and gives great real world applications.
No glaze definitely the best accounting professor I have had!
Great professor, his class is very engaging and the content is not too difficult.
Professor Davenport made this class engaging and fun!
Marc Davenport explains it like no other. He was by far my favorite accounting professor and I hope you take his class too.
Professor Davenport is an excellent Professor. He gives great lectures and provides real-world experiences from his time at EY. This class is not too difficult, but is is definitely more conceptual. Studying is needed to understand the auditing procedures effectively.
Very nice professor, show up to class and you will do well.
Great Professor, Does trivia for prizes before every class. It is very lecture heavy and does require you to read resources before class to be able to succeed in class, but overall Great Professor.
I really enjoyed professor Davenports class and teaching style! He made classes fun and was super helpful in answering questions in and outside of class. You can tell he really cares about his students success and wants them to do good. Take him if you can!!
Shares a lot of real-world stories that help connect the material to actual experiences.
Professor Davenport has a lot of knowledge to share from his many years in the industry and this is very helpful because he shares stories related to lecture content. He really wants his students to do well in class and is very approachable and personable. I would take his class again!
He is a great professor! His class is not hard but required a great amount of reading and understanding.
Professor Davenport is one of the best professors I have ever had. He is extremely qualified in accounting and audit and uses personal experiences and humor in all of his lectures, making class very fun and engaging. Can't say enough good things about him as a teacher and a person.
He is very passionate about the class he is teaching. Vast experience in the world of public accounting which allows him to give many insights into the professional world.
Professor Davenport clearly cares about his students and provides relevant real-life examples for in class problems. He spent years in public accounting as a partner and is very knowledgeable. He is also very easy to talk to and will stay after class to talk about the most random things.
Professor Davenport was awesome. He cares about his students' success. I would often meet with him to go over my quizzes and he was very welcoming. Although he is still learning to use canvas, he is doing his best and I am all for it. Cannot wait to see how he teaches next semester.
One of the best professors that i have had at the university of Tennessee. He made class enjoyable and exciting. Wish that i could have him as a professor again.
Great professor and cares about students!!
He was not in charge of the course content but was a good lecturer when presenting it. He had many stories that demonstrated actual use cases of our learning. He also discussed and focussed on the points that matter in the working world from his experience.
Professor Davenport is a really cool dude, with a lot of real world stories, examples, and even personal advice for your own accounting career. Anyone that gets the chance to should be excited to have his class. The class can seem like a lot of information at the beginning but with time and effort you will be just fine.
Professor Davenport was great to have as a professor. The audit course is tough as is, but he helps to make it much more enjoyable. He often talks about music, sports, and integrates many other avenues into discussion to keep things energetic. He also is a former partner at EY so he is able to give lots of real life examples and stories.
Professor Davenport is one of the best professors I have had at UTK. He does trivia questions before each class to lighten the mood. He makes his lectures very interesting and shares some good stories about his career in audit. I met with him multiple times outside of class and he was very nice, helpful, and understanding.
Worked in industry for over 30 years so if there's someone to teach audit, it's him. Graded heavily on quizzes (no exams until the final) but he prepared us well for that. Will always open class softly talking about the games that happened over the weekend.
He is one of the most interactive professors that I have taken. It may not be the most exciting material, but he tries to make the class fun and interesting. He shows that he really cares and wants to make an impact for us to succeed even after this class. I would happily take his class again!
Genuinely one of the best professors I have had at the University of Tennessee. He makes lectures interesting and is very interested in feedback. Was willing to meet with me and answer my questions during office hours in a helpful manner. If you get the privilege to take ACCT411 with Davenport he will absolutely have your back.
Professor Davenport was great! He brings a ton of real world experience to the classroom and really cares about students. 50% of your grade is quizzes, and they can get a little tricky, but nothing terrible if you study. Definitely a great professor, and I would absolutely take his class again.
Shares a lot of audit experiences that help connect the material to the real world.
Very good professor that can be very personable. I wish I had attended his office hours because he was really personable in getting to know you and navigating how to best perform in this class. Also read the casebook and review the slides and you will be good for the quizzes!!!
I absolutely love Professor Davenport. He is such a sweet professor, and you can tell he really cares about his students. He actually takes the time to make sure everyone is interested in his lectures. He also wants people to learn real examples instead of just trying to study for exams and quizzes. This class was a breeze compared to other 400s
Really great professor!
He is the best! So sweet and is always available for help!
Very material heavy, make sure to always read the readings and not rely on the slides given.
He was my favorite professor! He gave many real world examples and was always open to discuss careers, grades, or offer help in his offer hours. 100% recommend!

Professor Davenport makes class entertaining. It's not a hard class if you study for the quizzes.
Very engaging lectures and very helpful overall
The real-life scenarios he uses in lectures magnifies your comprehension of the class material. He has a lot of stories from his career that he's happy to share!
Marc Davenport was a legend in the Haslam classroom, so much so that I would name HBB 402 after him. He was knowledgeable, helpful, and compassionate about helping the students understand the material. His personal stories were always intriguing. #lit

Professor Davenport was a very interesting and knowledgeable professor. He has a lot of real world work experience and is able to relate the lecture to real world applications. He is also a very funny professor and is able to keep students engaged.
He grades fairly and wants the best for his students.
Quizzes instead of exams spaced out through out the semester. Very understandable and reasonable professor. He is a good teacher class can just get boring because of material sometimes!
Overall a great class, definitely lecture heavy but still fairly normal as long as you pay attention and take some notes. Gives good reviews before quizzes and tests so be sure to be there for those.
chill guy .....
Great professor, class is challenging but straightforward in the concepts and the material covered.
Ready to make accommodations for students and also takes time to help explain questions in class whenever needed.
He does not make this class harder than it needs to be. He is beautiful in how he teaches the class, and he is willing to give extra credit during some points of the year. ☺☺☺☺
Mr. Davenport was great. It was so refreshing to take his class my last semester. The class was so fun, and he was a joy to be around.
He was great at giving real-world practical examples in his class.
I really enjoyed taking ACCT 411 with Professor Davenport. He is so passionate about what he teaches and he always incorporates interesting or funny stories into his lectures. Professor Davenport was truly one of my favorite professors I have had while at the University of Tennessee. He really cares about his students and wants to make sure you get a real world connection to the material. He adapts to all learning styles and will make sure that if something is not clear to go back over it. Also super handsome!
I love Professor Davenport! He is really funny and tells many stories! His class was easy, but there is a quiz or two that is challenging so you do have to study!
Prof. Davenport is a really caring teacher and it shows in how he gives his lectures. Make sure you utilize the casebook, which is our 'textbook' for the course. It presents all the content for the course in a super clear way.
Professor Davenport was very engaging in his lectures. The class is concept-heavy since we are learning about the audit process, but he provides real-life examples that make it easy to understand the concepts. Definitely need to keep up with the readings to keep up with the material.
Sometimes class can be a little boring, but he has experience and good examples. He's still getting adjusted to using Canvas. I would prefer Modules.
Davenport is an outstanding instructor who truly cares about student success. His teaching style makes complex material easy to understand. He is always approachable and willing to help. I learned a lot in this course and appreciated his dedication to making the content relevant and applicable. Highly recommend!
Professor Davenport was easy to follow and understand. He was always willing to discuss anything we didn't understand, even if it meant meeting outside class time.
Professor Davenport made boring subjects fun to learn because of his personality! He told stories from his time as a partner at EY to relate to the subjects being taught. Heavy on reading the casebook, but nearly 0 math. I wouldn't say it is light work, but compared to other accounting classes, audit was not bad at all.
I really enjoyed Professor Davenport's class. He always gives fun stories or examples during the lectures. Even though most of the class is graded on quizzes, he always tells you what to study and what the questions will cover. Would take one of his classes again.
Professor Davenport is a great professor and is very knowledgeable. His teaching made the material easy to understand and enjoyable to learn.
Professor Davenport gives great lectures, and while attendance isn't officially tracked, showing up definitely helps. He's super chill and very understanding. Plus, he tells interesting stories and has excellent taste in music—it makes class way more enjoyable.
He gives major dad vibes! Very lecture-heavy, but he tries to tell fun stories about his time as a partner and makes some dad jokes to keep you awake. HEAVY on reading the casebook, that's how you'll study for the quizzes. Before each quiz, he does quiz reviews that are super helpful so always pay attention to those!
Great Professor, Highly Recommend !
Professor Davenport is a great professor. He cares about his students and explain things more in depth when needed. His lectures are clear and to the point without unnecessary information. He uses real examples from his time in accounting, which relates the class to real life. There are groups projects and several opportunities for extra credit.

Great professor, awesome lectures, makes audit more interesting!
Very entertaining professor and he uses plenty of real world examples to explain auditing terms. He would give us examples of how firms audit other firms and what steps and details that entails.
Prof. Davenport is very kind and helps you with your needs. Very accomendating and as well as a great professor. Though auditing isn't a super interesting topic, he explains it well so you can understand and comprehend it well.

Great professor
Professor Davenport fosters an encouraging and fun learning environment. He frequently pulls from his professional experience, which makes the class entertaining.
Davenport is a great guy who is always willing to help students after class. The material is pretty rough and you have to stay on top of the material for all the quizzes since they account for about half the grade.
Professor Davenport provides great lectures, and does not hesitate to go into detail where it is needed. He was very helpful when I needed guidance on assignments. His class was a joy to take.

Uses real world audit examples to teach the class which makes me class very interesting. Would take him again.
Davenport was a great audit professor who provided real life examples of how and when we would apply the class material. He does lecture fast so be ready and be prepared, but he is always happy to go back or re-explain concepts. Pay attention and you can do well in the class and retain valuable accounting information!
Professor Davenport was very helpful and accessible outside of the classroom. The class was made up of mainly quizzes instead of tests so that was also helpful but be prepared to read the textbook.
Professor Davenports class was very enjoyable. He does a great job relating the material to stories how his experience in public accounting.
Davenport is a good teacher and is always interactive with the class. He uses a lot of real world examples, from things he's experienced from being a Partner at a big 4 firm. There are a lot of quizzes in this class, but only one test being the final. The quizzes are not super difficult if you show up to class.
The class moves at a good pace and there is plenty of material to study for quizzes and the exam. The class requires a lot of reading but his class lecture helps explain the audit functions. He gives great examples as well to simplify things.
Has a lot of experience with audit from the real world and gives you the materials that are needed to do good on quizzes and final.
The teaching style was pretty good and he tried to male it applicable to real world scenarios and use a lot of examples from his past as an auditor. The class is very boring though and needs some help as far as creativity in material goes.
Professor Davenport is very kind and does a great job handling a large amount of curriculum to cover. Make sure you are ready to right down all the blanks on notes because he can move on quickly.
Marc is a wonderful professer who really cares about his job. He is in the industry of audit so you get so many good stories and real world examples. He is also funny and does good test and quiz reviews. Textbook is a casebook
Strongly recommend going to the lectures although they are not mandatory. He gives a lot of good insight into real world application of audits from 30 years of experience.
Professor Davenport really made Audit class enjoyable because he told excellent real world stories and provided real world examples to help us understand the material better.

Excellent.
Professor Davenport was awesome! His lectures were interesting and it was clear he really cared about the success of every student.
He is an amazing teacher who truly cares for his students. The class itself is reading heavy.
Prof. Davenport is a nice professor, and he talked a lot about random stuff during his lectures. He also gave small prizes at each lecture, so that's cool. It is a capstone class for audit, so it is well organized anyway. The good thing is that he will tell you "answers" to some difficult quiz questions, so if you go to classes you will do decent!
Great professor, would take again.
Amazing professor! Truly cares about his students and wants the best for you. Pretty easy class to follow as long as you put in the work.
Professor Davenport is always willing to meet outside of class to discuss topics and help you improve. I would take him again!

Prof. Davenport is probably the best accounting teacher I have had so far. He cares about what he is teaching, and makes sure you don't get lost or left behind. He is also easy to talk to about things not regarding accounting, especially Tennessee sports.
He is very passionate about what he teaches and he is very engaging with the class. He always keeps the lectures interesting.
He has great real-world experience in audit and accounting in general. Learned a lot from what I wanted out of a career, too.
Professor Davenport has been an extraordinary professor this semester. He seeks to develop his students and pass on as much real world knowledge as he can. I believe that he embodies the true role of a professor. Pay attention in class, review the material, ask questions and you are guaranteed to do well in this class.
Great professor! He provides a ton of real-world experience and ties course content into actually auditing. Very lecture-heavy but a lot of opportunities to make sure that you understand the content.
Course is very manageable compared to many upper level accounting courses. He really cares about making sure students pass the course and are prepared for quizzes and exams with exam reviews. He does a good job keeping the class engaged and making the content fun as well. Would take again.
Professor Davenport is awesome -- take him if you can. He provides a wealth of knowledge in the field and also really cares about his students' success. His quiz reviews are super helpful and if you mainly study that before quizzes, you should be good. The class is structured so that you have several quizzes (lowest dropped) and one final exam.
Fantastic guy with tons of real-world experience and knowledge. You can tell he's here because he cares, but I'm not sure how engaging the class always is, which is a disconnect. I am doing good grade-wise wise though.
Professor Davenport is one of the main reasons I switched from tax to audit because he explains everything in such a clear and easy way that it actually clicks. I have really enjoyed his class and I am expecting to finish with an A because of how well he teaches.
Davenport is never short of stories, but the stories always add value to the class. He has plenty of real world experience and actually teaches what he experienced. Awesome guy who loves UT.
Great person, gives prizes for participation and is available during office hours. But his lectures didn't really help my understanding of the concepts wish I had known that it was better to rely on the casebook which is GREAT! It is very specific and concise, giving very good examples. He needs to to improve his canvas page, very disorganized.
Davenport was very nice at answering questions and wanting students to succeed. As long as you go to class and actively listen, the content is not difficult. The mini quizzes made it very manageable to learn the information and actually understand it. Would HIGHLY recommend taking this professor. The group projects were also easy.
Great professor with amazing stories of real world experience to support the learning points of the course.
Super cool guy, love his stories about his professional experiences! Does do quiz reviews the class period prior to the quiz and even right before the quiz sometimes! He is very unorganized within the Canvas page, which made it hard for me to stay organized with the class as a whole. Needs to use Modules in the future, rather than just Files.
Professor Davenport is amazing! He is good at explaining his lectures and making them easy to understand. He also gives cool real world example stories from his career. The class work is pretty straight forward, there's a quiz every few chapters but he always makes sure you're prepared for it with quiz reviews in class.
Professor Davenport is awesome. He relates real experience to the lecture material to make it easily understandable. He gives prizes to students for participating as well. He is pretty laid back and understanding of circumstances. He genuinely just wants his students to succeed.

The quizzes are fairly easy if you pay attention and actually attend class. Professor Davenport makes classes fun, and I would definitely recommend.
Professor Davenport is very caring of his students and gives good practice questions. The class is lecture heavy and often boring. Canvas is set up a little strangely, but you figure it out. I wouldn't say group projects are graded too strictly and the casebook for the course is super helpful in supplementing lectures.
One of the best accounting professors I have had since being at UT. He does a great job at relating class material to real audit work and has years of experience. He explains the material well and makes an upper-level accounting class like this manageable. Great professor and person. Also, gives out prizes almost every class for participation.
He truly was one of the best professors I have ever had! The class workload was manageable, and the content was fairly easy to grasp. I would 100% take another class with Professor Davenport again!
I really enjoyed Professor Davenport class. This class is one of the reasons why I would like to go into Audit. The class do requires you to read the Casebook so you can have better understanding when you come to class for lectures. Yes, I would recommend Professor Davenport be your professor for Audit.
Professor Davenport is a good teacher and very interactive with the class. There are a lot of quizzes in this class, but only one test being the final exam. The quizzes are not super difficult if you show up to class and review the material. I would recommend taking ACCT 411 with him.
Great professor, loved the way classes were structured. Pay attention, ask questions, and review the material and you will do extremely well.
Grad is made up of quizzes and projects. If you pay attention to lectures you will do well on quizzes.
He puts a lot of effort in making this class be informative as well as entertaining. I find Audit boring but his real life stories kept my attention at times There are some grp projects, but the TA and him are willing to help. We've had some project time in class. The quizzes can be tricky but attend the quiz reviews. Class engagement is #1 for him
Davenport's class will not kill you. It's confusing at times, but never necessarily "tough." Out of all the accounting undergrad courses, his is prob the easiest. Don't get me wrong, there are confusing concepts and he's not the best at explaining them, but asking AI can help to understand why things are the way they are to prep for quizzes.
Great guy with amazing lectures; quizzes are easy as long as you go to class and pay attention. Very knowledgeable.
Mr. Davenport was honest, insightful, and willing to help any and all students.
Professor Davenport is one of my favorite professors at UT! He makes the lectures fun and gives good prep for quizzes. There are group projects but only two. As long as you study the notes and the casebook you will do great!
Would totally take this class again! Very entertaining. Not too much work outside of class outside from readings. Great professor.
He is a great teacher! if you show up to class you are very very well prepared for all quizzes, and projects. He posts all lectures online to go back and review and gives sample quiz questions that help prepare you as well. Definitely take him if you can.
He always gave real world examples of what we were learning in the lectures to help us tie the classroom to the real world
He's super interactive with the class. The only con I have is that the quizzes are kind of challenging and there's one every two weeks. But, he is an amazing professor despite the hard quizzes. Projects are super easy and group focused.
Marc is a great professor who ties in real-world examples to aid the lectures. Would definitely take again!
Professor Davenport does a great job of explaining the concepts that are covered in his lectures, and coming to class is the best way to stay on track and doing well in this course.

Amazing professor. Brings a lot of great real world experience to class and explains topics very well. If you come to class and pay attention you will do well. Class consists of 6 quizzes and a few projects. Overall, Professor Davenport was great and this class was influential to my learning.
I won't lie, I am an A student, and I will likely end with an A, but I did have to try really hard on all of his quizzes. He is a very nice professor and very accessible outside of class. The class is not as easy as everyone says, but if you study and put in the effort, you will do well.
Professor Davenport uses his professional experience and incredible sense of humor to explain Audit. Very accessible outside of class. He uses stories from his career to drive home in-class concepts. I wish I could take him for more accounting classes. Truly the greatest of all time.
The best accounting professor that I have ever had. His lectures make it easy to keep showing up to class. Genuinely cares about his students and makes sure everyone understands the content so they can pass the class. I wish I was him because he is just that cool.
Material can be a little difficult at times however Professor Davenport answers any questions you may have and takes time to address anything that could be difficult. Questions are definitely encouraged and help understand the material. Answers email very quickly. Just make sure you go to class!!!!
Professor Davenport makes his class as engaging as possible and wants his students to succeed. The content can be confusing but he does his best to make sure the quizzes are not too difficult and he is not intending to trick you. Chill class.
Professor davenport is clearly very knowledgeable on auditing and cares about his student's understanding of the material. The lectures are hard to follow if you do not do the pre-class reading from the casebook the course follows. He does great quiz reviews and warns you about difficult assignments.
Professor Davenport is one of the best professors I've ever had. He cares about his students, he's kind and funny in class, and sometimes you may even catch him on the sidelines at a football game. I got a lot out of Audit, mostly because of his experience in the subject. I would 100% take him again if I could.
Professor Davenport is geniune and accessible to his students. I really appreciated the real world applications that he added to the class and the perspective that he provided. I appreciate the joy he brings to the accounting department!
Professor Davenport is awesome. Lectures are well organized and you always feel like you've learned something. Reading the casebook before/after class is encouraged. There are a few group projects. There are 6 quizzes throughout the semester and a comprehensive final exam. Questions on the quiz are right in line with what was covered in class.
Overall good class. Quizzes aren't too hard with the exception of a few, as long as you really study and memorize the material you'll do well.
Professor Davenport is a very kind professor that likes to see his students succeed. He will even move quizzes if there are many students with other exams in other classes in the same week. As long as you attend class, take good notes, and read the case book, an A is almost guaranteed.
Professor Davenport was such an amazing professor. This class is mainly quizzes, but he would ensure that you had all of the materials you needed to succeed if you just came to class. Although attendance is not mandatory, coming to class still helps with the quizzes. It is very lecture focuses but he tries to make sure that it is interesting.
Take this professor if he is an option. Your grade will primarily be based on quizzes and group projects but he will prepare you well. Attendance is not mandatory but I recommend going because he's hilarious. He warns you when an assignment will be hard and gives recommendations on when and where to start studying. He's flexible and understanding.
Prof Davenport was a great teacher. His lectures were engaging and easy to understand. He was able to relate all topics in his class to real world scenarios he experienced during his career which helped me better understand the content.
Professor Davenport is a great teacher. He really explains the concepts well and I felt like I got a really good understanding of auditing. Most of the stuff done in this class is applicable to internships and entry-level jobs and it is great.
This class is not a free A, but Professor Davenport makes it enjoyable every day. He provides practical explanations for the topics, and addresses common struggle points. Overall, this guy might be the GOAT.
Professor Davenport is a great professor and makes learning audit fun. The course is mainly a lot of lectures, but he posts the recordings so you can go back and take thorough notes. As long as you stay on top of the material and either attend lectures or watch them back, you will do good on the quizzes and in the course.
His class was definitely one of my favorite accounting classes, and by far made the most sense to me. If you go to class and study his lecture slides you will be fine. He provides the text over Canvas so you don't need a textbook. He is very knowledgeable and interesting to listen to and he teaches concepts you will really use if you work in audit.
Talking audit with Professor Davenport was amazing! He is really helpful and quick to respond. He wants students to do well in the course. Gave some extra credit opportunities to help students.
