Terrible prof ever

He is the worst teacher of Seneca. There is no feedback on your work. At the end of semester there should be a question in your mind!! Why I take this course while your knowledge is same as before!! Never can take a course with him! You learn nothing and also you will get a surprising mark on assignments and tests!

I got the feeling that he cared more about looking smart than teaching. Show any interest or knowledge above average and he'll shut you down.

It takes a minute to listen to him and you will get it. Just avoid. He will fail you with pleasure. He is always late. Waste of money.

He is one of the most terrible professors at seneca, he does not give partial marks. Will always think he is right and you are wrong and will find absolutely every reason to fail you. Please do not take him.

Worst professor ever. Chooses to not mark your labs if you miss to put the date and does not warn you about it. Never tells you that the assignments/labs are due at the end of the class and does not explain the material and his expectations. Avoid taking his class at all costs.

Marc has some serious issues, and should not be teaching. dont take classes with this guy.

This professor is extremely unclear regarding his expectations on graded work and will not hesitate to give you a 0 on something with no proper feedback - and no, he will not re-grade work. He speaks to students in a condescending manner and is unhelpful when you ask a question. If you want to pass this course, do not take this professor.

Well, to begin with he is always late, at least 10 - 15minutes. next he will fail you even if you do 1 little thing not required by assignment. he attitude is not friendly at all.

To be honest, just dont take this professor. just save your money, most ridiculous prof i have taken so far. He looks for most simple things to deduct makes and ALWAYS late to class, LIKE ALWAYS!

In short, the worst prof ever. Never take his course if you want to actually learn something. He is a harsh marker yet does not give a clean or detailed feedback on the questions he took marks off. His explanation is pretty vague at the same time. The only thing he is good at is basically pointing out every single mistake you make for no reason.

Marc harshly grades anything he finds is a mistake, even after telling you that your implementation was up to your imagination. In this introductory business course for programming students, he grades us as business students. Without giving clear feedback, the students are left to wonder what they did wrong and how they could improve.

Marc is by far the worst professor you could ever take in College. Only after he grades your assignment does he tell you what he was looking for and if you missed anything you will be deducted heavy marks. He also does not reply to your emails no matter what the case. Marc makes sys366 way harder than it should for the type of material you learn.

Avoid this guy like the plague. Worst prof I've had at Seneca since his marking schemes are ridiculous and he comes off as snappy and pretentious. Wasn't able to pass and will be taking this with another prof.

He is known as a master of deduction and he would take off mark for anything.

Unclear grading criteria, wont teach you anything rather he will expect you to do those thing that he never mentioned. Also he will cut marks for some nonsense points.

Very unorganized. Won't explain projects and assignments until the last minute, but will take marks off for everything. Takes forever to get back to your emails, but will forget about them immediately. Emailed him about my mark, he said he would look into it, and never got back to me. That would be the second time I spoke to him about it.

this is definitely the worst prof out all profs i've ever had. he is a very tough graded. even if you do your assignments in the absolute same way as he shows in his lectures, you will still get a poor mark no matter what. also you will get no explanations and no help.

extremely rude, unprofessional, and he asks if there are any questions and someone builds the courage to ask, he would sometimes say he doesn't want to answer it.

Talks a lot about how systems can be subjectively analyzed and there's room for different interpretations but don't make the mistake of trusting that. Furthermore in the final project I let him know some classmates were plagiarizing my work and he told me it was too late to do anything about it. Pretty floored by that.

Absolutely terrible professor. Mark displays extremely poor communication skills and his marking scheme doesn't make sense. Perfect match for an also terrible, and quite useless, class.

Worst professor in Seneca so far!! Take anyone's classes but his. Takes 40% of your marks and doesn't bother providing a feedback. Doesn't matter how hard you work, he won't care and grade you below 50% anyways. If you wanna pass, don't take him.

Not very responsive, unclear and harsh grading, doesn't deal with group work issues. He picks you on minor details. You get zero for not saying which group you work in. 0 textbook use is bad cos this class dictates how you do it. Each 1% counts for your mere pass. Worst class overall out of my 50/60+ courses in 5 schools so far. A squid game host.

Just the worst. Unclear lectures and assignments, randomly graded assignments, rude and snappy, unwavering. Get ready to do a lot of work only to receive a D or C on your assignment. Just show up, get it over with, and leave. Do not take this "professor" if you can help it.

Marc Gurwitz is a worst professor Ive ever had. He doesnt explain anything and says just try it and then he marks you 30% for the labs. Even if you try your best hell mark you 50% and wont provide a feedback. It takes him weeks to reply on the emails. AVOID HIM AT ANY COSTS. All my other grades are A/B.

The worst teacher ever so far. I'm not kidding he's like Joe Exotic of Seneca. Unpredictable, inconsistent, talks weird, doesn't appreciate your work, makes you uncomfortable, he's bad at communicating and teaching. Such a shame that he makes up to 6 figures salary from teaching. Be smart and avoid taking any class with him. You've been warned.

No respect for students, lots of group work, and tough grading. He is bragging about his knowledge but has no intent to teach students. Also the grading criteria is vague it's all up to professor's mood. I'm not recommending this course with all my heart. There are no single merits. Bros run as far as you can.

Just awful. Random requirements for assignments are as random as the grading scheme. Take whatever grade you think you'll get and half that to see what you'll actually get. Everything is random and nothing makes sense. Classic Seneca. This guy is a fraud.

He is never explain any subject material in the class,very small lectures like 10-15 mins . We have to complete all assignments alone. Tough grader. Hard exams . you can fail easily with him.

He is such awkful professor. He never replies to mail . He speak so fast that didn't get what he teaching. his lectures are too boring. I suggest you that never choose this person as a professor.

The feedback is a bunch of "??" on labs with no reasoning or details. Doesnt allow ref sheets in tests whereas other profs like Cindy Laurin do. Contradicts whatever he teaches in the name of logic. Grades super bad on assignments with no rubric. Reduced my perfect 4.0 GPA because of his single course. Help yourself and choose a diff prof.

I regret to say that my experience with Professor Marc Gurwitz's class was disappointing. While he tried to engage the class, his lectures were often tangential and lacked substance. He appeared disorganized and unfamiliar with the subject matter. I cannot speak to any bias or favoritism, but overall, I would not recommend taking his class.

Sometimes he said it is right, next time the same answer is wrong.

marc gurwitz is a very touch grade always give 0.5 out of 1 for labs just give marks in mid and final so you are not able to tell you pass or fail till the end

If you are here to see his review,go back and check with another professor.If no one is available, drop the course or take it to another campus. If any of you wants to make your life miserable and wanna regret your decision, don't take him. I won't need to provide any more reviews as you can see what other guys said. He is so tough grader. he never gives marks above 0.50. If you don't have any other choice just drop this course.

I felt like I'd been struggling with SYD466 for the whole semester. It is very hard to meet his expectation and you will lose your mark for lots of meaningless reasons. His labs are VERY VERY VERY difficult and he tries his best to deduct your mark. He is the toughest professor in Seneca( I would say not "one of" because he is the worst).

He just looks for reasons to fail u. He nitpicks every test and asgnmt. He removes as many marks as he can for the smallest mistakes or more often things he doesnt like. He will mark fairly reasonably in the beginning of the course, but for the final exam, even if u know everything he will fail u. Most ppl fail. He humiliates you 4 asking questions

Guys ! This is the best professor at Seneca if you want to fail . He doesn't teach and doesn't have any grading criteria . Whenever he feel I'm in the mood of deducting marks let's do it . bruh! dont wait to change your prof for SYD. This is the worst prof I met, he is worst grader and will give 0 even you did nice job. In every lab he used to call students and ask "Is this your work...? " also "It matches with my solution...!" Guys wake up..!

Not a good proff,dont how to teach, if you are too perfect in your work and able to understand in one go then choose him, also he deducts for a reason that does not exist, will depress you throughout the semester and mistakenly if your diagrams matches any other student, get ready for integrity, overall bad experience

Nothing is worth taking this professor. It sad that people like him are allowed to be teachers. He is super vague and has no direction. You will never understand what he actually wants and this course is horribly designed if you ask even the top performing students. This professor plus this course will be an absolute waste of time. Week 4 in and this prof is harder than an elden ring boss

HEED MY WARNING!! if you take this guy, you have no one to blame but yourself. Without a doubt, the worst professor i have had the displeasure of studying from. Problems show up at the very start of week 1. Dont take him under any circumstances, not even if it was someones dying wish.

Save yourself the pain. This professor makes an already difficult course feel impossible. No clear instructions, grades harshly, and gives vague feedback that leaves you wondering what you did wrong. Even if you think you're prepared, he'll find a way to dock marks for things that don't even make sense.

was a 4.0 student before taking this class with prof gurwitz, unfortunately no matter how hard you try or study, it is simply impossible to get a 70 or higher in this class. The assignments are graded unfairly and all labs will be graded below 50%. Your only hope for this course is to either ace the tests, or not take him at all.

All the reviews are correct: Marc is not a good professor. He seems to chill initially, but that changes once you get your first lab or test. It's like getting your ass handed to you on a silver platter. if you want to have a high GPA please avoid him 😭🙏
