For the class you only have 3 exams and a paper. He knows a lot. If you aren't a test person then beware
Great guy. Loved the class. Really hard tests. Supportive to students
Hard tests but his curve saves your grade. Great study guides. Really approachable. Some of the material is boring but he can be pretty funny. Likes to tell stories.
This guy really knows his stuff. He is willing to help anyone and it does not matter how much time it takes. His tests very the hardest things i have ever taken in my life, but luckily he had a curve so i got a B everytime. Great class.
Marc Healy is an absurdly self involved man who concentrates far too much on sounding intelligent than actually being intelligent!
He was probably the worst teacher I had. He really does know his stuff, I'll give him that. Otherwise, I felt as if he forced his beliefs on his students about evolution...when I didn't even belive in it. His tests were extremely hard...But if your up for the challenge and like to get bashed about your religious beliefs by all means take the course
He has VERY annoying habits and is kinda boring. He gives fair tests that if you study for them you will do well... just read the book and listen in class!! If you question something after an essay test FORGET about getting more points for it even if its right. (that was frustrating he has the "I am always right" attitude).
Prof. Healy is very intelligent and witty. He has a lot of energy and keeps the class interesting. Tests are moderately difficult, but he curves.
Awesome teacher. Loved his class! Very interesting and explains things thoroughly. Really knows what he is talking about.

As boring as this teacher is, that is just not even funny. He will talk about the same stuff next class period, cuz he dosent remeber where he finished. Really smart, knows his stuff. Outside of the class, the best person ever. He has funny beliefs sometimes, especially about Canadians...
Really interesting, knowledgeable, curious and enthusiastic. Wish he'd stayed on topic and kept an even pace -- did not get through entire syllabus. Also really wish that he'd managed the class better -- way too many/loud side conversations between students. Hate that he grades on a curve -- it's demotivating for good students.
Knowledgeable, entertaining, interesting, but failed to cover the entire syllabus (bad pacing). Study guides help a lot for the tests but he grades on a curve, which kills motivation; usually an A is in the low 80s, so why study much? Also, too much talking among students, sometimes so loud you can't hear the teacher, and he seldom says anything ab
he is one of the most intresting people i have ever met. his teaching methods are great, he keeps his lectures intresting and upbeat. he grades on a curve and his test are not bad, on his webpage he has studyguides and worksheets and things to help you on your test. if you know the study guid you will get an A on your test. he is an amazig teacher
Not a very exciting class. He doesn't help the class move along at all. A little unorganized, a lot boring. Loves to hear himself talk and tells a lot of boring, off the subject stories.
Prof. Healy is awesome! He knows everything about everything and he makes class a blast! The course is amazing and you never want to miss a lecture. He's funny, interesting, and has a very good attitude towards the the students. Definitely take this class if you want to learn more about the world and have a good time doing it.
He is a nice guy and very knowledgeable on the subject. The subject matter tended to get pretty boring at times and it was hard to stay awake. Had trouble keeping the "kids" in class from talking. Tests were fairly easy if you study well. Overall he was pretty good at teaching a boring subject.
He was cool. he requires attendance but lets you know how many days you can miss without penalty. He has study guides for every test and he signposts in his lectures which topics he's gonna give as essays on the test. Use the study guide for each test and you're set. He's also funny, ask him what noise a guerilla makes!!!
He is an awesome guy! He gives you his house phone and everything. He seems to really care about his students. He really knows a lot about the subject, and makes it a little interesting. He can get a little off topic though...I would take him again.
Mr. Healy is a really nice teacher, but he is sooo boring. It takes us almost 2weeks to finish a chapter because he goes off and rambles about random things all the time. All his notes are on powerpoint. Take this teacher if u need time to take a nap in your day. Hes the teacher for u...
Very informative, you learn a lot. The exams will kill you, though, if you don't read the chapters. Also you find yourself constantly looking at the clock in his class, but overall he's a very nice man.
He is a teacher who changes lives. VERY COMPETENT! extremely passionate. His stories are always full of knowledge and helpful to a better understanding of the world we live in. Highly recommended!
awesome teacher. not afraid to express himself in the classroom. not the most interesting class, but he will sing and dance if that's what it takes for you to remember what he's teaching. he tells lots of personal stories, but they're all to enhance your learning experience and relate to what he's teaching.
Healy is a great professor. He is extremely nice and very helpful. You can approach him in class and out of class, he never seems to mind. He cares about his students and truely desires for his students to gain from the material. His class is challenging in a good way, the tests are not too hard.
Healy is a good teacher. He is clear in his expectations. I feel I have gained a lot from this class. His test are not bad if you know the terms and read the text.
I had a few friends recommend Mr. Healy. Most people think he's a pretty cool guy and a fun teacher. Personally, I feel he tries a little too hard to be funny. He gets off-subject easily, and the tests often have questions about things we never discussed in class. Despite his best comedic efforts, it was pretty boring. Look elsewhere for an easy A.
Read book and Vocabulary words! Easy and cool and funny teacher sometimes he gets off subject But I liked it because sometimes it's get boring while talking about same subject u know. Ask for Credit Credit I did it and You will easily pass his class 1.Attendance 2.Read Book & Vocabulary 3.Ask for Credit Credit & Do Assignments you received an A!
90% of the time late for the class, appears to be ill-prepared or unfamilar with content or makes excuses that he's not a Biological Anthropologist. Loves to show-off skulls, visit the zoo, and talk about his family. And I'm paying for this class. Can also be rude if you don't take notes on his pearls of wisdom. Needs to put his slideson hiswebsite
Healy is a great teacher. He does tend to get off-topic a lot, but he always incorporates current events when he does. Not only can you get an easy A (no homework!) in the class, but Healy makes sure you will be more aware of the world around you. Great teacher. Worth every penny.
Wasn't planning to comment, but I have to disagree w/11.2009 commenter. He walked in class within a min or two of start time, has a PP outline of his lecture prepped, but the content isn't *only* in the slides; you have to pay attention to do well and (this is key) get the subject. And human evolution = skulls. Prof does get sidetracked easily.
He is a nice guy who is very knowledgeable and enthusiastic in class. However, he is not so clear when he answers questions, and his tests are moderately hard. Don't think he really quizzes over the general concept, rather specific examples.
Awesome
Healy is an easy A. If you've got half a brain, you'll get a good grade. This man LOVES himself. I once timed him on how long he talked about himself and his family. 75 minutes of class and only 25 were course related. When he is actually on the topic of the class *we are paying for* he is an enlightening teacher, but this is about 50% of the time
He is extremely knowledgeable and good . he knows what he is teaching. COOL teacher I ever had.
Terrific teacher. On topic and makes anthropology fascinating. His office is always open and is always accessible by email or phone. One of the best!
gets off topic, then wonders why we never have time to finish chapters....? whatever. he's cool. easy tests, no homework, no essays. getting an A and all i do is sleep or draw.
Healy is a great professor and I highly recommend this class. If you take good notes and actually pay attention, you may learn something and get a good grade. Imagine that, a teacher that wants you to do well in class. Would gladly take another of Healy's classes.
Hes a great teacher! sometimes he might get off topic but you still get the point of the lect. Just go to class take some notes ( he even gives hints on will b on the test)and dont get caught doing n e thing else but listening to him. AWesome teachER learn alot!
Easy teacher, but his tests are hard if you don't come to class AND read the book. He gives out EC at the end of the semester to bring up your grade! He is never in the classroom early, but hes never more than 5 minutes late. He does love to talk and talk and gets off subject easily so he doesnt get all the way thorugh the powerpoints
He was a geat professor; really knew his stuff. He helped you if you needed it and would talk you through problems. He loved talking about his family, which was fun. The material he teaches is really interesting and is a great class take!
Very nice and helpful professor. He wants his students to learn as much as they can, and he presents the material in a fun and easy way. He sometimes gets off topic which can get annoying, but it was a great class.
He was by far one of the most entertaining teachers I have ever had. He gets off topic pretty easily but when he does it is generally hilarious (there were a few times where he actually started acting like a chimp).
I LOVE this teacher. He is so passionate about his subject, so he's really good at teaching it. Plus his attendance policy rules- 8 misses no penalty! I highly recommend him to anyone and everyone who needs to take an Anth. class at ECC.
He is an ok teacher. I am indecisive about him. He can be a real jerk at times and can be unclear on the tests and quizzes but at the same time, he can be really nice and helpful. He is passionate about his work and I give him credit for that. The only problem with him is that he tends to rant.
Healy is a really friendly guy who is obviously very passionate about teaching. He is extremely easy to listen to and follow. However, sometimes he gets off topic and will talk about himself or his personal life a little too much in attempt to make an easily understandable point. We only got through like half the book because he gets distracted.
Human Geography is an interesting subject, and there is no doubt that Professor Healy knew the material. However, we only went over two and a half of the four chapters that we were supposed to have gotten through. The man also seems a bit arrogant at times because he is constantly talking about his family. Smart guy, but he?s a mediocre teacher.
marc healy was my favorite teacher this semester. hes very nice, he makes a boring topic fun and interesting. the class is very easy to pass, everything you need to pass is on his website. best teacher ive had at ecc yet. i highly recommend you take his class
Healy is very energetic and enthusiastic in his lectures. We did not cover everything in the textbook, but I still feel like I learned a lot, no complaints. The class is easy; you just need to work on his study guide and attend class. And some his jokes are hilarious, not going to lie.
really cool guy, basically impossible to fail his class. he's laid back about attendance, but don't try to text or sleep while you are there! i'd recommend him for sure
He is pretty cool and its definitely an easy A but the class was very very boring to me. As long as you read your chapters you'll get an A on the tests.
I went into this class having a mindset of being bored and dreading this. But right from the start, I knew this would be my favorite class! Marc Healy is an amazing teacher who truly loves what he teaches! He makes the topic so interesting and ends up trailing off into telling different stories. Tests are easy, just make sure to study the vocab!
he is an amazing professor, he is really funny and loves to help. i would take him again if i could
Wonderful teacher. Took pride in what he taught with a very open mind. Would reccommend him to anyone debating on taking him. If you come to class you will get an A no problem. Great class
Mr. Healy is a very nice teacher. You will never get through the book. We only got to chapter 5 this semester. He only give tests and most of the material is vocab words. Just know them and you will pass his class. Funny guy!!
He tends to give lengthy explanations which tend to drive him far from the topic, but he usually swings around and makes his point. Everything in class is basically what's in the book, but when you read it, it's good review and you should have the answers to the test. The test questions can be a bit confusing sometimes though.
Healy is a knowledgeable teacher and has a lot to talk about. He has a schedule written on the syllabus but never follows it. This is the second class of his I've taken and this one has more stories that relate to class than actual study material. He makes interesting points and helps us view the world differently. I would recommend him.
If you are a religious person, don't take this class. All you will do is walk away irritated. That said, he is a GREAT teacher. Hilarious, always has a little story connected to what we are learning. Encourages us to watch documentaries and read articles. If you know your vocab, you'll get at least a C on his tests.
He's fun and very interested in what he teaches. he loves to give examples and go off on rants. He has a sense of humor and his class is easy. He will work with the class if they are struggling with a specific topic.
No exams during his class but gives take home papers instead. He is very picky with the grammar and punctuation for the papers so proofread and take them to the write-place for feedback. Other than that, its not a bad class. The class is interesting, he takes attendance, but his lectures are never boring. I would take him again.
tests are the only grades but theyre mutliple choice and matching vocab so easy if you study. if not he has an extra credit paper you can do. pretty straight forward but lectures are long because he goes off topic and rants about stories but they relate to the subject and he can be interesting. provides power points and study guides online.
The class does get interesting at many points, but Marc loves to go off on long tangents that may not make sense to everyone. The lectures are very long and many times uninteresting. He can be fun and have unusual tales to tell. He is a great teacher as long as you're a patient person. It was a decent class! test are extremely easy and he will help
The class (human evolution) was very interesting an he adds a lot of humor to his lectures. It is all done with power points but it's surprisingly not boring. He does not use D2L and his own website which is kind of unorganized but as long as you know the vocab words the tests are easy. He allows you to miss up to THREE WEEKS overall of class time!
Professor Healy is honestly the best. He makes class interesting and is funny! Definitely would recommend him! There needs to be more teachers like him and as passionate. It is noticeable that he grateful for being able to teach what he loves. Lecture is long, but when isn't it? Tests are fair, no homework other than reading.
Mr. Healy is a good teacher. He made the class interesting and learned a lot. Only 4 tests so make sure you study his study guides and you'll be okay.
He gives only four test which are the only grades for the class. He offers an optional extra credit paper. He has a website that has the power points and study guides for this course. Doesn't focus on teaching from the textbook, rather from a prospective of current events.
Professor Healy is a pro at his job and knows what he is talking about. He relates his experiences or the current lesson to what is going on in the world at the present moment. He is laid back and your grade will be based on tests. Take notes on his lectures, do the reading and you will succeed! Highly recommend!
Good.
Extremely helpful. He has his own website that you can google that has study guides and slide shows for you to print out and study. He lectures all class but makes it fun. He understands that things come up and gives you multiple classes to miss before it will effect your grade. overall a very caring and funny teacher! I've taken him twice now
Professor Healy was a really cool professor. His class can be boring but he tries to not make it so bad. Only 3-4 test and he drops the lowest one. Gives an extra credit paper and is willing to help if you need it. If more teachers were like him at ECC, it would be a better college. Really nice guy. Would definetly get a beer with him
His class was not only the hardest class I have ever taken, but he was by far one of the worst teachers I have ever had. I did not learn anything, he goes off on random lectures and gets off topic easily. He is very confusing, and his tests do not match his lectures. Take a different class!
Overall, nice guy but needs to work on his helpfulness and accuracy when it comes to specific portions of the study guide. He crammed two chapters right before our final. Also, he seemed annoyed when I asked him questions regarding the class material, which is kind of annoying considering the fact that I'm paying him top dollar to teach.
Great class, really enjoyed his class. Tons of lecture every class. Only 4 exams the entire semester. Half of the tests are vocabulary based and are very easy points. Print out the study guides because will help you be successful.
Tests are half vocab matching & half multiple choice. He gives you a study guide w/ all the vocab for each chapter. We only got through 5 chapters w/ 4 tests total. As long as you read each chapter, study the vocab, & show up to class, it's an easy A. He assigns one paper, but it is OPTIONAL and for extra credit (can bump grade up by one letter).
Okay so hes overall a really nice guy! He can be funny and gives you lots of information in his lectures but, he gets off topic very easily. He can sometimes repeat stories about his life and that causes him to rush lectures in the end. ALWAYS work on the study guides and vocabulary!
im not sure if anyone has taken him recently but marc healy is a severly arrogant teacher. it seems that in his class there is plenty of "stupid" questions. whenever i need help and ask him a question he degrades me for asking a question, as if i should already know.. i really dont appreciate being treated like that. he only lectures so be prepared
Fun, cool and extremely laid back. Gives you up to 6 absences. Lectures a lot but I enjoyed it. Only 4 graded tests. Gives extra credit. There's absolutely no reason to get anything less than an A in this class unless you're extremely lazy.
Lecture heavy but I prefer that, just show up and listen. He is very passionate about what he teaches!
Healy is a pretty awesome teacher. Only 4 easy tests all semester long and he basically gives you all the answers on the study guide. He makes silly jokes and unless youre an extremely lazy POS, theres no way to not get an A or B with him
Can be very boring because every class is a lecture. Nice guy and if you get on his good side you will enjoy the class. If you miss more than 6 classes you are dropped or get an F in his class. Tests are easy as long as you read the book which is short. Only 4 tests including the final. One extra credit paper that can bring you up a letter grade.
He lectures every class, the whole class time. Just listen and take notes and you should do well in the class. The study guides online are almost the exact same as the tests. There's an extra credit paper that is due at the end of the semester and brings your grade up a whole letter grade. He is very nice and he really cares about his students.
Mr. Healy is a great professor. He was really passionate about his class. We had 4 exams that felt like quizzes. He has a really interesting sense of humor, but at the same time isn't afraid to call someone out. His knowledge of anthropology is vast and the incorporation of his personal anecdotes make each lecture interesting.
Healy is a nice enough guy, but it was a struggle to drag myself to class because of how painfully boring lectures were. Your grade is determined by 4 tests (100 pts each and he drops your lowest grade) and an optional 30 pt paper so it's not at all difficult to get an A, it's just a boring class. If you can deal with that, you'll be alright.
He's a really nice and funny guy but his lectures are SO painful to sit through for an hour and 15 minutes. He tends to ramble on and get so off topic that I find myself forgetting what we were even discussing in the first place. You're graded by 3 tests, which are pretty hard. I wouldn't take his class if you're not a great test taker.
Horrible teacher. Grades you only on 3-4 tests, (depending on how much material he can even get through/cram in) lectures don't teach you ANYTHING, goes off on tangents not pertaining to the subject, belittles you for asking questions... I'm a straight A student & this was the MOST DIFFICULT class to pass. Don't take Healy; he gets worse & worse.
Professor does nothing but talk the whole class period and will call you out during the lecture if youre doing anything that isnt listening to him or note taking, I learn more from the study guides online than anything he sayings in class.
Great professor that is super passionate about what he teaches. Classes are for the most part lectures although videos are thrown in periodically. As long as you show up and listen (which is easy because he makes it interesting) you will pass. The study guides on his website are almost identical to the test. Great guy.
Healy's class is lecture based. He tends to get off topic very easily. So much so, this semester we lost 6 weeks. Use the book, use the study guide. There will be some things on the exams that are not on the study guide. Study while he lectures, don't bother listening. He won't give you relevant information for the class.
Marc Healy is a great professor. All his classes are very lecture heavy, which can get a little boring, but overall it is such an easy class. Your only grades are 3-4 exams and he provides you with a study guide that is very similar to his exams. Great guy!
.There is only 4 test the whole semester( he drops your lowest grade) His lectures are not relevant to the test. Gets off topic easy . we had four units to get through for the semester. We only got to three. Didnt even finish his lecture the week of finals. Your better off learning the material yourself. Dont recommend.
-No hw and quizzes! -4 exams on lectures we only took 3 b/c he fell behind -the exam is split into 2 sections: VOCAB and M/C -study the vocab and you should be fine
Hes okay. Lectures the whole time. The notes help to prepare for tests(multiple choice/fill in the blanks), but the study guides online help just as well. Gets off subject at times. No homework, but you can write extra credit papers.
He was one of the best professors that I had had. His lectures may have gotten off track at some points but you always got the point by the end.
take his class ONLINE, the exams are so easy! I receive all As in the exams without attending class on zoom, DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THE BOOK, the class consists of 4 exams, which means no homework, no essays, no presentations. Just 4 exams, this class is very easy if taken ONLINE. He also drops the worst exam grade, he also offered a extra cred
This was the easiest class I've ever taken. I would sit through his 20-30 minute lectures twice a week on Bongo and didn't have to participate at all. One downside is that you're graded only on four tests but the lowest-scoring one is at least dropped. If you want to learn more about Geography this class isn't very substantive though.
Very easy class. Read the assigned chapters, and go through the PowerPoint notes he sends because these are helpful for the exams. Four exams only, the lowest grade gets dropped. Met through video Bongo twice a week for a minimum of 30 min per day. He would lecture on the chapters and PowerPoint notes. No homework.
Only graded on four tests that are unlimited time, all multiple choice. Missed like half of the chapters we were supposed to study because he spent so much time on each chapter. Each class only lasted 30-45 minutes. Replied to emails very quickly. No homework and easy A
Graded on 4 multiple choice exams only. Lowest test score gets dropped. Offers an extra credit paper. No homework. We met up twice a week for an hour at most, usually 50 minutes where he just talks through slides. No participation is needed but great professor overall.
Such an amazing professor. Truly loves his job and has many stories/life experiences. Isn't afraid to get a little personal. Class is very lecture heavy but we are only graded on the tests. Attendance is not mandatory but I would show up so you know the material because it will be on the test. His lecture run very smooth and are easy to follow.
- lectures every single class - four tests, 1 extra credit paper - lectures loosely follow the units because he mixes in a lot of personal anecdotes and gets off topic easily - Usually ends up circling back to the main point, and its clear he cares about what he's teaching - get the book and take notes from reading - learn vocab You'll be fine :)
He gets off topic a lot, it feels like he looks down on students at times
I took three of his classes because of lack of homework. You only get graded for four tests, multiple choice and vocab. Can be very simple if you only focus on studying the vocab. You don't need to read textbook, but it can help. Classes are mandatory and lecture-heavy, feels more like a podcast than a class. Prof can get off topic at times.
of all the teachers I have had, never in my life had dealt with a man such as this. in the beginning he was cool but, he gets so off topic its crazy up to 20 minutes talking about nonsense. even called me out in class because he asked me a question and I replied with, I'm not sure and kept pressing me about it and felt like we were looked down upon
Honestly, I wanted to give a 1 but am being generous despite his rudeness. He was the rudest professor I have ever dealt with. Claims to be very understanding about your problems and ethnic differences but does not. If you could choose a different professor, I would. Only lecture, and even the best students don't do well on the test, read the book!
He gets off-topic for long periods every single class. And sometimes spends the whole class period on one slide and drags things out longer than needed. Whenever I send him an email, he never replies. I would say that I'm a good student that gets good grades but I still didn't do the best in this class.
He does not respond to any of his emails, and when he does, he does not give any good feedback. He has 4 tests to determine your grade, but during his lectures, he gets distracted and off-topic so it is difficult to study for those tests. Do not take him.
He's quite knowledgable and I enjoyed his class. There was no homework, but his class was all lectures. Four exams make up the entire grade. We rushed to finish chapters because he went on tangents. Spent eight weeks on unit one, and we squeezed the last unit into a week (time management problem). Easy A if you use the textbook/Quizlet. TAKE NOTES
I asked for feedback and help during his office hours and he was rude and told me he would not help me with my paper that he assigned. During his lectures, he gets distracted and does not review the exam material. He was one of the worst professors I took during this semester.
If I could give this man a 0, I would. He is a horrible professor. only 4 exams, which are mainly from the textbook and vocab. I didn't learn anything in this class you can tell he hates his job, not my fault. gets off topic and doesn't value nor respect his students, which is very rude. I have to email him five times just for him to reply.
Need to study in order to pass
Can't miss more than 4 classes and a VERY lecture-heavy class. There are no assignments, just the 4 exams throughout the semester. Each exam is 2 chapters and 40% of the grade is matching vocab words and the other 60% is 30 questions. There was a textbook, and honestly, I recommend getting it as he tends to get off-topic. Bad with additional help.
Big mistake taking this prof. Healy has a belittling tone and his lectures are boring. Gets off topic a lot and his class was the biggest waste of 3 weeks in my life. 1st class I ever dropped and it was simply bc of him. I retook the class with a diff professor and had a great experience.
hes hilarious, the grade is just 4 tests, write down the important stuff he says and youll be fine. dont fall asleep in class tho...
Don't trust the positive reviews! Very BORING lectures. He doesn't permit laptops so you will be staring at the same slideshow for the entire class. He never gets his point across and it feels he comes unprepared to lectures. Your grade is never posted on D2L. You're graded on 4 exams (1 doesn't count). And his exam dates don't follow the syllabus.
Amazing teacher! always was interested in showing up to lectures. 4 exams and he drops the lowest one. He doesn't just read off slides, he goes way above and beyond. 10/10 would take again.
You are graded by only 3 exams. It is near impossible to get an A due to the fact that you are graded on only exams which weren't all that easy even with studying. He rambles on about nothing related to the actual topic in class. Was rude to my friend when she asked to make up an exam.
DO NOT LISTEN TO POSITIVE REVIEWS!!! Day one, he basically sets the students up for failure. goes on about attendance, you failing, sets unreasonable expectations and is not understanding AT ALL. only allowed to miss 4 classes, which are not excused, even if sick. claimed that "if our health is that bad" we should not be taking class.
rude and dismissing tone of voice from the beginning of the first day. told if we admitted a mistake, apologized, and learned from it, that it was not good enough. dropping this immediately and have lost all respect. professors are supposed to teach you it's okay to make mistakes, and learn from them. This man just makes you afraid to mess up.
I have never had such a condescending teacher. He was late to class and was completely unprepared for the first day. The thing that made me drop this class immediately was when he said; "You could have a group of monkeys come in and take the quiz, and they would have a statistical probability of doing better than past students I've taught!"
This professor talks and talks about very few things related to the course. First day he spent the entire 75 minutes of class rambling, then went over class time to finally talk over the syllabus. Very derogatory when people participate, does not seem to encourage it. Only been in the class for a month and I wish I dropped it when I had the chance.
I would give a lower rating if I could. This professor dislikes his job and is the rudest I've ever encountered. More than half of the class did badly on the exam, but instead of acknowledging that his teaching methods were wrong, he yelled at us and humiliated us. He is very inconsiderate and will likely make you hate the subjects he teaches.

The worst professor i've had in my entire academic career. He doesn't understand his teaching methods aren't working when more than half the class fails the test. Its evident he does not come prepared with a solid lesson, and will ramble/drags things out for about 30 mins that isn't related to the learning objectives. Save your money and time.
Before I start, I'm sure he was a good professor at one point in his career, but now he is not. He should b
The class was okay but the professor was awful. Would not take this class again
This was the worse professor you can ever have in college. He embarrassed one of his classes due to not having a good score and simply humiliated every single student. He does not have a lesson planned for one of the lectures, rambles about politics when it comes to the migration unit and expects us to understand every single concept.
This professor is unfit to be teaching. He started our semester by trauma dumping the class, spending nearly the entirety of multiple classes doing this creating an uncomfortable environment. He does not stay on topic. He expects participation but when a student does participate, he shoots them down. He missed 5 classes. He needs professional help.
Save your time, worst teacher you could ever take... would pull me out of class for being 3-5 minutes late, he was babbling on about some story for god knows how long which he tends to do i stopped paying attention and proceeds to ask me a question about the topic to which i said idk and yelled at me infront of the class, he dropped me days later.
Don't have him as your professor. He doesn't know how to teach, and Is rude to his students. On tests I have has to call him out for making the questions unclear, and then he gave the points to everyone. He tried to give us a test a day we didn't have one, I again told him we didn't gave one. Unorganized, rude, doesn't know how to teach.
This professors favorite word is "um". During his lectures he said it 190 times in 45 minutes of non stop rambling lessons. Even when he's teaching its hard to stay engaged when all you can focus on is how many ums he's saying.
The grading itself is easy, just 4 vocab tests (with a word bank) and multiple choice. I want to cut him some slack because to be honest, his daughter died over the summer and he clearly was not mentally ready to instruct. Lectures are boring, many personal tangents and very obvious his political leaning. But class is an A if you can sit through it
This professor would just ramble on and didn't teach me the things I needed to know. He would show up to class a few minutes late and would end class a few minutes late. he did lose someone he loved very much and he also loves teaching but he needs a break. All he does is give out exams, I wish he gave out homework or at least quizzes.
Doesn't really encourage participation and when he would, he was condescending. I could tell most students, (like myself) felt too intimidated to respond. I wish he would have encouraged more student input or assigned something related to the material. At the very least, his lectures were somewhat interesting and he drops your lowest grade.
Horrible. Rude to students, talks about random things and wastes time, stuff we ever emphasize is on the test, so you never know what to really study. Thought it was gonna be an easy class, was harder than my biology and my human growth and development class.
Lectures can be hit-or-miss, but using resources like unstuck study made studying for the 4 exams more manageable. Professor Healy can be inaccessible, but put in the effort and you'll learn a decent amount.
DO NOT TAKE. I read these reviews before taking him, and I said how bad could he really be. These reviews are all true. He is rude and makes fun of students who don't answer his questions correctly. You never know what is going to be on the test. Even studying the book doesn't help. Only 4 grades. Everyday is a lecture. Unreachable. I could go on.
I took Geo because it's a required credit. Professor Healy was very unprofessional in his teaching. During my class he would often talk about his own personal life and things that did not pertain to the class at all. Their were four tests which more then half the class would fail because he would not prepare us. I urge you not to take this class.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!!!!! His PTSD left me with PTSD.
All Healy does is ramble the whole class about 2-3 slides. Most students can barely get a C on the exams because he doesn't actually teach us the material on them. This class is literally just listening to him talk about whatever he thinks of at that moment. For your GPA's sake (and your times sake) DON'T take his class.
After taking this class, I feel he has the potential to become a good professor. Still, it's hard to figure out what is on the tests because the lectures do not have much material, and because it's hard for him to focus on one topic with tangents. 40% of your grade on tests is vocab and random stuff about the chapter that isn't even in the book.
Great professor overall, lecture heavy, but the professor tends to do a really good job when it comes to fully explaining the topic. He provides additional info in his class that you might not find in the textbook that is nearly essential for the tests. Heavily recommend doing the extra credit project.
DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS. He gives zero assignments, and your whole grade is based on the exams. He will go on rants about topics that won't even appear on the exam, making it nearly impossible to retain any information. If you take this class, you'll have to do the extra credit project or else you'll fail.
Took him my first semester, was extremely rude, yelled at my class after every test. Lectures seemed like a waste of time because he would spend the entire 75 minutes on one slide. Tests were shockingly difficult. He is also just unhelpful overall. I had to tell him twice that we weren't given enough information on questions for our test.
