Dr. Knecht teaches a specific section of CHM111. It's a program in which you finish inorganic chem and organic chem in 3 semesters, as opposed to 4 semesters. The class was a challenge. Every week, in addition to lecture, you have a recitation class, with a quiz. It helps, but study from the book, not just class notes.

He seems nice and energetic in class, which is good for 8 ams. He's willing to help during office hours if you need extra clarification. His test questions are fair, only stuff that you go over in class but IF YOU DONT SOLVE THE QUESTIONS THE WAY HE TEACHES THEM THEN HE MARKS YOU OFF AND YOU DONT EARN ANY POINTS EVEN IF YOU GOT THE QUESTION RIGHT

Everything so far is correct, overall I wouldn't advise taking CHM 121 at all unless you already have a strong strong background in chemistry. The class is extremely accelerated regardless of how they advertise it. Also Knect is never in his office to help after or before a test.

Good professor, comes off as really nice & chill but actually not as much as he seems...not in office hours the way he says he is, kind of a not nice guy outside of class though. Wants to see everything written out his way or he will deduct points so a ridiculous grader before you figure it out. Would recommend as a chemistry professor though.

I absolutely love this professor. He is willing to help you and wants you to come to his office hours. His tests are not multiple choice so make sure know how to do the problems thoroughly. Much of the test material is based off of similar problems from the power points and book so make sure you do all the problem that correlates to his lectures.

Dr Knecht was a good professor. I missed class often but studied from the book and still did well. He was entertaining and kept you awake at 8AM. His explanations are clear and he seems willing to help. His tests are not multiple choice and only 6 to 7 questions so if you do not know how to do one it's hard to get an A on the test.

lots of homework that's much more challenging than what's covered in lecture. available for office hours so utilize them w specific questions. failed the first exam and he told me to drop pre med because i "didn't have it". not supportive of students struggling. exam averages were always failing. finished w a 90 on the final and never looked back.

He does a good job of giving a lot of examples to each problem, however he only briefly covers each topic because he gives the examples, forcing students to learn on their own through the examples. However, it is possible to be sucessful and the examples so help. Recommend taking a different CHM professor if possible.

Prof Knecht moves quickly and for some people that can be confusing. I really liked that the class was fast-paced and straightforward because it forced me to pay attention. Skipping the lecture is a very bad idea but videos are posted if you do. Go to office hours if you have questions and do the homework before the day it's due and you'll be fine.

Dr. Knecht's presentations are pretty good as a review of material before the exam and has good practice questions. Reading the textbook and redoing the homework problems helped me the most to prepare for his exams. There was a small curve at the end of the semester as well and take advantage of the extra credit opportunities.

Knecht lectures quickly and is less interactive but his powerpoints are good reviews. If you prefer slower-paced, I'd suggest Leslie or Gonzalez. Marc is straightforward and available during office hours or appointments if you need help. Take any extra credit opp, Do Mastering EARLY, textbook problems and past tests help the most for exams

I thoroughly enjoyed taking Dr. Knecht for CHM 121. The class is challenging, but Dr. Knecht made lectures very accessible and the information was easy to digest. The tests were hard but standardized for all professors so it doesn't matter who you take. Also very funny and would make jokes during lectures.

CHM121 is pretty much the same no matter what professor you take it with. All tests are the same for 121 regardless of the prof. If you study enough you should be fine just stay on top of your work and go to office hours/workshops. Knecht is a good lecturer and explains things well.

Dr. Knecht is a really nice guy who is always willing to help his students. If you show up to office hours he will make an effort to get to know your name and will help you with your questions However, he is not that great of a teacher and often skips over basic content and opts for problems rather than understanding.

The material covered in class was oftentimes different than the material in the homework, exams, etc. This class is a large time commitment. There is a separate discussion once a week, and tests are not held during class time. The class itself was extremely difficult, and I felt as if I did not learn the material well.

This Professor was awful. I took his class my first semester of my freshman year and my experience was terrible. He is incredibly vague. I went to his office hours one day and asked him where I could find the formulas to study for the exam and he did not want to tell me. In class, he goes extremely fast and always seems to be in a rush.

This class is very difficult if you don't put in the required effort, as many classes are. However, Dr. Knecht was very inconsistent in how well he explained concepts. There was inconsistency between lecture difficulty compared to that of homework and tests. Tests were extremely difficult and I never felt well prepared, which is partly my fault.

Chemistry is a class that requires effort outside of lectures. I think Dr.Knect did a good job of teaching the content but if you want to do well it takes a lot of practice on your own as well. He's accessible in his office hours and willing to help his students.

Its chemistry, so you need to study on your own outside of class. He is pretty good at explaining lectures and records them to watch them before the test. Would recommend!

Take any other professor. Genuinely does not know how to teach. He is very smart, but he is a researcher, not a lecturer. This class is challenging, but choosing a good professor can make it easier. Marc is not that professor. I started attending other professors' lectures to understand the concepts because he was so bad.

I personally loved taking him. He does a lot of practice problems in class, gives a lot of resources to study, and is super accessible outside of class. The class was extremely difficult because of the exams, but that's due in part to the fact that three professors teaching different material are making it. Go to office hours!!

Dr. Knecht was a great Gen Chem professor. Considering this course is hard, and the exams even harder, I couldn't have asked for a better professor. Class consists of 5 exams, 1 final. Lowest exam is dropped. Attendance is graded through IClicker + discussion is part of your grade. This course is hard, so practice out side of class is a must. 10/10

For a chem professor, he is good. His lectures are engaging and he goes over lots of examples that are very helpful for learning, homework, and studying. The class itself is very difficult as it is so much material fit into one semester. Many schools split this content into two semesters. The curve at the end is crazy.

Professor Knecht is a solid option for a chemistry professor. Attendance is mandatory and recorded through Iclicker and there are multiple problems done through iClicker during lectures. His lectures are good for note-taking and he occasionally makes jokes, keeping the mood light. Practice more difficult questions if you want to do good on tests.

Best Professor for the gen chem department, Has a great way of lecturing with mostly using problems to explain the concepts. The chemistry department tests genuinely are really bad and unjust so nothing can prepare you for that, but he's the best of the bunch.
