It doesn't get any better than Dr. L -> lets not upset the apple cart with anything less!
He's very nice, and he pretty much sums up the text in class. Very enthusiastic. He can't spell at ALL, but I guess that's sort of unimportant. And his Massachusetts accent is hilarious.
very nice. his random stories add to the class. The only thing is that his class requires you do all the homework, go to every class and take good notes to even get a decnt grade on the tests. but you have manyt chances to bring up a bad grade.

he's very nice & really funny... but when it comes to tests & quizzes they're all based upon drawing conclusions & unless you study really hard, they're not so easy. at least they're mulitple choice.
Wonderful professor! Passionate about his field. Conveys that passion onto students via anecdotes in class. Always available to help students succeed. Covers a LOT of material and still doesn't get to it all. Reading your notes and the book a couple of times will get you a good grade here.
extremely funny, he makes class interesting.. tests are all multiple choice..look over the notes and hw problems and you will get an A.. he is very approachable, I would definately recomend taking him!
Makes class interesting and is an extremely fair grader!
This one of the best professors out there. He is so animated and that is what makes his class interesting. He wants the class to be fun and it is. I would deffinetly recomend this professor!!!
He is really a great teacher, if you aren't so good in science than he is the professor that you should take. He is also very helpful and clear... He's awesome!
This is the 2nd class I've taken with Professor Lamontagne and this is not an accident. He's a fantastic teacher, and I would recommend him to anyone. Especially people who fear the sciences because he is extremely helpful and fair. See you later alligator, hit the road Jack! haha :)
Good class. Learned alot. Very helpful prof.
Great guy. A cutie pie and an awesome teacher. Funny stories, awesome lecture. A must have class.
awesome teacher, awesome guy. very helpful, very understandable, cares about the students learning everything
The best chemistry teacher at RIC. I wish he was teaching Chem 106 too.
awesome teacher...awesome guy. Loved the class..learned a lot. Would take him again in a heartbeat. Lots of chances to do well in his classes, very interesting and funny. Smart in his area of teaching. Highly recomended.
So happy I was to have him as a Chem Professor for both 105 & 106 (for both labs, too) He is very nice, funny, approachable and helpful! Though he expects you to know EVERYTHING - and there is a ton of stuff (Very nerve-wracking quizzes!) - There were definately chances for you to bring the grade up. He's the best to have if you are just dreading
I had him in Summer for Chem 105. He's organized, fun, knows what he's doing. It was a bit intense since he expects you to know EVERYTHING. I found it tricky with him at times (exam & quiz-wise).
he is a great professor! explains everything, is organized and gets your test and quiz grades back very fast! is always available for help.. just study for the tests and you should do fine... i recommend!!
This teacher is very politically and socially conscious. He relates Chemistry to what's happening in the world. He conveys his love of the subject. I see the world in a different way after this class!! Highly recommend him.
Great professor! All exams and quizzes are straight from the readings, homework assignments, and notes. Keeps classes entertaining. One of the most animated professors I've had!
Great teacher! More than willing to explain and clarify class material. Exams and quizzes are tough but if you study and pay attention to detail you will do fine.
his class is okay a good professor. student must be willing to read and study, he also relates the class to reality and good sense of humor. recomended........
The best Chemistry professor I've had so far. I took good notes and came to each class. I'm going into the final with an A, and should keep it that way. He assigns the problems he wants you to focus on and posts the solutions manual online. Do the problems he assigns and look over your notes, then you're looking good. No tricks or overwhelming.
Took Chem 105 in summer and THANK GOD I had Dr. Lamontagne. He is able to explain this difficult subject so that you can understand it. Study your notes often, do the homework problems he assigns and you'll be fine. Exams are difficult so you need to know your stuff. Spends extra time on material he know students find difficult. No one better!
awesome teacher. would defiently recommend. took his class in the summer, it was alot of work but he is a great teacher who loves the subject.
the best teacher i've had.he made the class so easy and funny.take him whenever because it's always a pleasure to listen to him and to be there.he talks a lot and when people don't answer his questions he starts singing.
Awesome - The class was forensics - best class ever - you learn so much! Very knowledgeable and funny!
Good professor, teaches well.
I am very surprised at all of these comments students have left. He constantly talks even when someone has a problem, and if by some chance he addresses the problem, he only makes it worse. The quizzes and exams he gives are hard, mainly because he tells you what to study, and then nothing you study was on it. I do not recommend him at all.
He is a really funny teacher who tells jokes all the time. If you read the book you will be fine. His tests are basically right out of the book. He is pretty understanding and doesn't take attendance
Very good teacher! He was hilarious and overall explained everything you need to know. However, his exams aren't that easy and you need to study quite a bit and he tends to go over 9:00 pm if you take him at night. But he is a great teacher!
One of the best professors i've ever had. Teaches extremely well. Makes the material easy to understand. I wish he taught every chem course. I highly recommend him for a teacher.
Fun Teacher! Makes Chemistry easy and understandable. Takes time in class to help others out. You need to know your stuff when the exam comes around and expect quizzes every 2 weeks.
hes AWESOME!!!! great teacher!! Explains clearly!!! give you lots of opportunity to pass (lots of quizzes). really cool dude!!!!
I didn't use the book. But many did. I had a chemistry class before this so it was fairly easy to me. He is one of the best teachers. Very easy to understand. If you have any trouble definitely talk to him. I recommend him to anyone.
Although the forensic class is not quite what I expected, the professor is a very interesting and intelligent addition to the faculty. I would recommend him to anyone, the material is straight forward, no surprises here. His quizzes are straight from notes and book, exam are straight forward too, if you don't do well it's your own fault.
Very good teacher! The subject is obviously hard, but if you study you will honestly do fine! He prints out notes for you every week, so bring them to class and just pay attention and you will not fail
I had never taken chem before and I LOVE it! Prof. L does a GREAT job getting you to understand the material. Meet with him is you have questions or stay after lecture and he will make sure you get it! His stories are funny. He will make you hungry for brownies, take the class and you'll understand!
ONE OF THE BEST TEACHERS...HE REALLY KNOWS HIS STUFF...I HAD PREVIOUSLY TAKEN A CHEMISTRY CLASS SO I DIDNT USE THE BOOK AT ALL..SHOW UP EVERY CLASS AND TAKE NOTES AND YOU WILL DO GREAT IF YOU ARE HAVING TROUBLE LET HIM KNOW HE WILL HELP YOU OUT....I WOULD RECOMMEND HIM TO ANYONE...THE ONLY THING IS YOU MIGHT GO HOME AND COOK SOME BROWNIES...
Had him for forensics for my sci/math gen ed. Great class to take if your at all interested in a related field (I'm a justice studies major) A lot of reading and quizzes/tests but if you do the work, they're not hard. don't have 2 pass in hw or go to class except for tests. case study as a final. easy A
Good class. Only have to show up for quizes and tests which are from the book. He's funny and a nice enough guy. Only two tests and he drops the lowest quiz grade.
I tried to get help from him outside of class and he was not understanding at all or committed to helping me get a good grade. Not only is his handwriting ridiculous but his organization is horrible as well. Just dropped the class, thank goodness!
This professor is horrible; the material is difficult and he schedules quizzes and exams way to frequently. He scheduled a quiz literally two days before the final exam. This professor has no business doing what he is doing.
Nice guy- approachable, but just doesnt know how to slow down the material of the class- its hard stuff. otherwise he's good
hard material and unorganized class but he is helpful and is fair to everyone. Fair grader and is a nice guy
Down to earth, understanding guy. His lectures can be a bit all-er-the-place, but as long as you do the Chapter Review questions in the textbook you will be fine on his quizzes. You don't need to go to class, but try to hit at least 1 out of 3 a week.
The class was kind of difficult due to the amount of material that was covered. He is a fun teacher though who jumped on top of the desk to do an example. His tests and quizzes weren't too hard as long as you are keeping up with the work.
I hate chemistry and managed to get a very good grade in this class. Highly recommend this professor. Just do your hw problems and work hard and you will be pleased with your grade :)
if you're ever going into surgery and the anesthetics aren't working, consider bringing in this professor to give a lecture in your operation room-- you'll be out cold in no time.
Prof. Lamontagne made this class -- the subject matter became crystal clear, and he made sure you knew what was going on. Very helpful, funny and friendly. Disappointed to not have him for CHEM 106!
He's usually pretty funny, and he tries hard to make sure you understand. As long as you do your part, you'll be happy with your grade.
Dr. Lamontagne is a very good professor. He knows not all students are interested in chemistry and tries to make jokes to wake up the crowd. He tries to make topics as clear as possible. Recommend doing the homework problems. He doesn't check them but they are a great help for the exams. He's always willing to help and a very nice guy.
I took Professor Lamontagne for both 105 and 106 on purpose. He is a great teacher and he makes chemistry make sense. His tests and quizzes are fair and you will do ok as long as you understand the material and homework. Homework from the book helped a lot. He is a funny teacher and works hard to help his students.
Best Chem professor I ever had, very clear and precise on what you need to learn, goos sense of humor, makes you wanna go to class. you definetely will learn in his class if you pay attention. He emails you all the notes you need to know and rewrites them on the screen for you to udnerstand the material. If you can, take Lamontagne.
I have absolutely NO interest in chemistry and was taking it only to fulfill a gen ed, but Professor Lamontagne is a really fantastic professor nonetheless. He's clear and understandable, and made the material seem much more applicable than it might have been. He's very approachable, and very funny. I'd definitely recommend him.
My favorite professor. He kept my interest, made sense, and gave simple tests if you read the material. Can be goofy, but has a reasoning.
He is the best teacher I have ever had in my life. He is so nice, truly cares about the students (if you care about his class)and goofy. His quizzes and tests are pulled directly from the material he goes over in class. Nothing is a surprise. Work hard in his class, do the homework and if you need to stay after do it because he is always whilling!
really funny!!
He is a good teacher but his exams are hard you cant memorize you need to actually understand material to do well. But he scales his exams big time! Good teacher, fun class.
He's really funny. Just a goofy guy and sarcastic. His lectures are really easy and all the quizzes have questions pulled straight from the homework. As long as you do your homework and show up, you'll pass. It's a Forensics class, but DON'T expect everything from CSI. He even jokes about the "CSI effect". I recommend him, though!
All around great experience with this professor. Funny, easy to understand and follow. I would take him again!
Great teacher and easy to understand.
Took this professor for chem 105 and chem 106. He is the greatest!!! He is very intelligent with a sense of life. He made chemistry fun. His quiz and exams are from the notes and hw problems. He is always there when you need help just ask!!! It's not mandatory to attend his classes but please do he makes everything easier to understand in lecture than in slides. Overall I would take another class with this professor at anytime :)
I took him for both summer sessions, chem 105 & 106. Class was intense because theres not much time in the summer to learn the material. He is a good teacher & provides lecture notes. Do the hw for practice. He makes chem easy to understand. I got a B for both courses. Very pleased with his course.
Take 105 & 106 with Lamontagne. Excellent lecturer, makes Chemistry must easier to understand. Lecture attendance is a MUST. If you slack and don't go to lecture you will fall behind EASILY. Take good notes, do homework problems, and be prepared to study your arse off. I wouldn't take Chems with any other instructor. Nice guy, exams are CHALLENGING
Dr. Lamontagne is a great professor, definitely one of the best chemistry professors at RIC! he is very approachable and if you study his notes and go to class and lab..you will do fine in the course. I would recommend taking the class in the summer...it went by fast and was pretty painless!
If you find Chemistry not that easy, don't take this professor. He is not that great. Take professor Elaine Magyar, and you will be fine. Unfortunately she only teaches Chem 105.
If you are not a natural born chemist do not take this professor! He can be unclear, and unhelpful. Be prepared to teach yourself a lot and seek out tutoring right away. Don't wait till it's to late. His quizzes may seem easy but the exams come out of nowhere. Good luck.
Professor Lamontagne tries his best to keep you entertained. Chemistry is not the easiest subject but he tries his best to help you understand. if you attend his class , you wont need the book. His test do come from his notes and he scales them !
Professor Lamontagne is a very nice person, but not always eager to help. I approached him several times and his responses to me were "read the book." He scales almost everything but the quizzes and exams were extremely difficult.
stay away. he gets easily distracted and will go on tangents that will only confuse you more. his analogies are out of control and aren't even relevant. his exams are impossible and will have you crying by the eighth question. his quizzes are easy, so don't get too confident after taking one. take magyar instead of this guy- much better quality.
Dr. Lamontagne was great! I had him for 105 & 106. He's very enthusiastic and very funny. Also very helpful. Cool guy!
Professor Lamontagne is such a good teacher. All you have to do is go to the 50 minute lecture, add what he says onto the power points he gives, go home and REWRITE YOUR NOTES! Rewriting your notes is key in this class because while you're writing, you're memorizing. Do the hw problems every weekend and you're golden. Always keep up with it!
Great professor. He really likes teaching the subject and is always there to help. Do the homework and study the notes you will be fine. He scales a lot too. I would take a class with him again for sure.
Definitely recommend taking him. I enjoyed going to his lectures because he was hilarious. If you pay attention to him during lecture and do the homework, there is no way everyone can't pass with an A. 5 quizzes which aren't too hard and focus more on math problems than concept stuff. 3 exams focus on concepts and a final exam. He's very helpful
One of the best professors I've ever had. Make sure you attend lectures and take notes on the powerpoint slides he provides. I rarely read the book or did the homework problems. Go over the notes before the quizzes (5) and exams (3) and you should be good. Scales heavily. Extremely helpful and engaging.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. Assigned at least 50 homework problems a night, there is no break during class and he lectures the full two hours. Such a dull and boring class. Would strongly NOT recommend this class. Especially for first year students.
Professor Lamontagne is such a nice and funny guy. He makes it clear what you need to know. However, there is LOTS of material and this class is fast paced. He assigns a lot of homework. While it's not required, it is definitely time consuming and can get very confusing. If you can deal with a fast paced class and read the book, you'll do fine.
When I think Forensics I think of evidence collection, fingerprinting, crime scenes etc. NOPE! You cover all that stuff but it's from the Chemistry point of view. It felt like an upper level Chem class. He talks at you for 2hrs. and assigns 30-40 homework problems from the book (fill in the blank) every class. 2 exams, 2 projects, 5 quizzes.
He does a great job at explaining the material and breaking difficult concepts down for you. He posts powerpoints on blackboard and lectures directly based off of them but with a lot of supplementary material. Overall a great instructor for the course.
Not very helpful, and does not explain material too clearly. Overall, pretty confusing
Dr. Lamontagne is an excellent professor. His test are pretty challenging, and reading the book and completing the optional homework problems are essential to passing. He moves pretty quickly, but the notes he gives are easy to follow and understand. He also scales relatively heavily and drops the lowest exam grade which can boost your grade.
Good professor & understands that the material is difficult. Clearly cares about what he does. Half the exams are straight from his notes & the other half are out of nowhere. Really liked him until 2 weeks before the semester ended when he decided to stop scaling exams. Really effected a lot of people's final grades.
Professor Lamontagne is awesome. One of the top professors at RIC in my book. Attendance isn't mandatory but if you miss quite a few classes, it won't be easy to pass. Homework assignments and reading the chapters are key to passing. His notes are super helpful but doing the HW and reading will help you pass no problem.
Horrible tests and very difficult. Missed appointments when scheduled to get extra help.
Dr. Lamontagne is an OK professor but he just lectures at you the entire class which isn't helpful for this class. Don't take the class if you think it's gonna be like CSI, it's not, it's all about chemistry. Definitely a tough grader & his exams are tricky. Homework is ESSENTIAL to passing quizzes/exams. Projects are easy. Good luck!
He is one of the best chemistry teachers I've ever had. He is very interested in what he is teaching and wants his students to learn. His lectures are long and intense but he provides extra help after class and during his office hours. You must read before class and print out materials if you want to keep up during his lectures.
His notes are clear and to the point, his tests are challenging but overall if you study hard you'll be fine. Never in my dreams did i think it was possible to receive A's on chemistry exams but with him I did. He'll give help when needed & cares about his students. He's also super funny so that made the class much better! 10/10 love him!
his exam are though that is why he scale them ,
Lamontagne's Lectures are dry, but his labs are fun. The Chem 105 with him was doable. He drops the lowest quiz and lowest exam. I went to lecture most of the time but he has his notes on black board, but typically you would want to be there- not the end of the world if not. In chem 106 (organic chem) you need to go to lecture to understand.
Dr. Lamontagne is easily one of the best professors at RIC. He cares about his students, and wants you to do well. He's approachable and will answer any questions you have. His quizzes and exams are not difficult as long as you understand the material. He has some tricky questions to make you think, but they are not hard once you understand it.
Easily the most hilarious professor at RIC. More than fair grader. As long as you read the book and actually study for exams, you'll be fine (my laziness got the best of me). Lectures are either hilarious or painfully dry -- there's no happy medium. Regardless, he is an excellent professor and I reccomend him no matter what class you have to take!
He's pretty good. In order to do well in the class you must spend a lot of time studying at home. Exams can be challenging, but that is a reflection of class material not the Professor. Dr. Lamontagne is very funny, laid back, and approachable. His lectures are comfortable, not high stress environments like other professors.
I took chem 105 and 106 with professor lamontagne. He is funny but his lectures drag on and his tests are so difficult. He almost has to scale all of his exams because a lot of people don't do well. If you want an easier professor do not take him. Take Dr. Magyar. Much easier to follow.
One of my favorite teachers. He keeps his lectures interesting and is such a genuinely nice person. If you get a bad grade on the exam it is really your fault because he provides you with everything you need to know. I have Dr. Magyar last semester and Lamontagne is 1000x better. I would totally recommend him to anyone!
Dr. Lamontagne is awesome. If you have the opportunity to take Forensic Science with him, do it! It's a lot of lecture, two exams, five quizzes, and two small projects. Very easy, if you do the homework and just show up, you'll be fine!
Funny professor, but beware his terrible handwriting. The lectures do drag at points, but he always tries to incorporate funny stories to keep everyone's attention. Also, the lectures are heavy and get ready to take A LOT of notes to do well on the 6 quizzes and 2 exams. Attendance is mandatory. Easy if you put in the work and studying.
Dr. Lamontagne was a fantastic and very caring professor! One of the best in RIC's Chemistry department. However, his lectures are heavy and his exams are very challenging. One tip would be study the outlined notes he provides DAILY. DO NOT CRAM FOR HIS EXAMS! 105 was great. 106 was a bit more challenging, but it can be done! I recommend him 100%!
Truly Understands the Material
Dr. Lamontagne does a lot of talking. Majority of his lecture is based off of his power point presentation. It's best if you print out the presentation so you can just take notes on it that way. Grading wise it's mostly based off of exams and there are 3 for the semester and there are a few black board quizzes. It's more of a self taught class.
Dr. Lamontagne's class could be difficult at times, considering your grade is only based on exams and a couple of quizzes. He had to scale some of the exams by as much as 20 points. He was an okay professor but I don't think I would take him again.
I did not care for his teaching style at all. His exams are very difficult and scaled each by 20 points. He tries to be funny, but he's not. He answers emails in a timely manner. He stays after class for questions.
Dr. Lamontagne's forensics class is great. The quizzes are easy, and so are the exams. Most of the questions come straight from the homework questions so make sure you get the book. As long as you show up and take good notes you should be fine. Easy A.
He's great! one of the nicest professors in my opinion. Tries to make his lectures fun even though the can be long and boring. Tests and quizzes are easy as long as you do the reading and quizzes are taken right off the homework which he doesn't collect. Drops the lowest quiz grade too.
Dr. Lamontagne is an amazing professor. I highly recommend him for Chem 105 and 106. His lectures are great but you have to attend them to do well. He assigns optional homework but I never did them. His lectures were enough to do well and I never used the book. His exams are difficult so really study.
Funny and nice but hard lectures and exams
amazing professor, knows what he's talking about. goes into detail on topics discussed in class, gives great advice, and wants all of his students to pass. definitely take if you are interested in forensics or crime shows, you learn so much and quizzes and exams are easy, mainly all from the notes and handouts.
Hes not helpful, told me I should change my grade because I was having difficulties with his class. I tried again with professor Elaine and did great. Shes the best!
Such a sweetheart. His jokes are corny but he makes the course bareable. He really cares about his students and teaches in a way where the material is really put in perspective and everyone can understand.
He's tough, but fair. Lectures were a bit difficult to follow, but mainly because of the material (all theoretical, not always practical), but were punctuated with funny stories. A great professor to have in lab. He challenges your critical thinking, thumbs up for that! Overall, a great professor!
His lectures are decent but his exams are hard. The wording he used on the exams is tricky and doesn't reflect much of what he does in class (I took good notes and never missed a lecture). He's a nice guy but I didn't think his exams were fair. I put so much time and effort into this class and barely pulled off a B- even with the scale on exams.
Attendance is a must. 3 online quizzes. 4 difficult exams(25 questions M/C). He drops the lowest. Managed an A in organic chem. exams scaled 8-12 points. you will learn more information than needed for exams. His questions come from the power points & notes. keep them organized. I learned material before class began, it helped.
There's tons of homework. His exams are not always worded fairly, didn't match up to his lecture wording. I somehow overcame the tricky wording. gave us new material the day before final exams. we had exam 3 and the next day 4. exam 4 is cumulative. Try to learn ahead of time and study everyday, material is cumulative. this was summer session 2.
HW confused me more than helped I barely used the book. Attendance is mandatory, take good notes. wording on exams is tricky just make sure you take your time to read the questions don't cram for these exams. took this over the summer so a lot of material was cut out. very sweet man, he scaled exams & dropped lowest exam, quiz, & lab grade
Had him for summer session II. I did HW problems for each chp. mult. times & I read the book! I voice recorded his lectures, played them back after classes, and wrote additional notes that Id miss from lecture, due to speed. I went to tutoring twice a wk & I got an A! It was tough, but possible. If you want real easy, maybe try another Professor.
He was an excellent professor. If you have to take chem 105 or 106, take him. He curves exam grades and is a very good teacher. He is caring and will tell stories and jokes in class to help you relate to some material he teaches.
Professor was amazing! Hes nice and funny and exam questions come straight from his lectures. Chemistry is hard in general, if you dont put the work in you wont pass with a good grade! The way he lectures makes you understand chemistry in different aspects, his Final replaces your lowest exam! & he scales & also rounds when he grades! Take him!
I would definitely take him again. He was funny and would stay after class with you if you had any questions. The class itself wasn't that difficult, for the most part it was memorization. He has messy handwriting but you get the hang of it and learn how to understand it. Good luck!
If you study and pay attention in lecture, you should be fine. Get an understanding of chemistry first, or at least read the textbook chapters. He gives homework, which is not mandatory, but is very helpful to you because he only has 3 exams and they are all practice problems. Actually, pay attention and he does grade fairly. Scantron only30problem
Professor Lamontagne is a very good professor. Organic Chemistry is a hard course, and he understands that. His lectures are very helpful and he is always open to questions. He tries to make his class more enjoyable. As long as you study the book and do the practice questions he assigns, exams shouldnt be too bad. STUDY A WEEK AHEAD OF THE EXAM!!!!
If you have to take chemistry take Dr. Lamontagne. He actually made me enjoy Chemistry. He scales, exams are from power points, hes funny and wicket smart. Love him! He really cares about his students, gives great tips for learning. He is just the best.
Easy class, never bought the text book and passed with a B-
He is a great professor! He is helpful and answers any questions you have after class. He also scales exams. I really believe that the people that don't do good in this class is because they don't study enough and don't put effort into the class. to pass the class you need to study as much as you can and not miss lecture
I took him in the summer for Chem 105 and it wasn't too bad. He scales all of his tests and the quizzes were online so you can use your notes. I'm taking him in the fall for 106!
Professor Lamontagne is a very kind, funny, and understanding professor. I wish I had taken him for Chem105 too. If you get the chance to take him, I 100% recommend! He truly cares about his students and will always answer any questions you have. You can tell how passionate he is about his profession, which makes learning chem much more fun!!
Professor Lamontagne was the best! He always made 8 am chemistry class enjoyable. He does not teach directly from the powerpoints and often gives examples to help memorize topics. He also scales test grade a lot of points. Only 4 exams all semester, which includes the final. I would take him again!!
Chem is a HARD class. Lamontagne is very understanding, and really brings it down to a beginner level as much as possible. Homework is optional, as are lectures, but if you don't do it you won't pass. All exams and quizzes are almost exactly out of his lecture notes. He does scale which is great, but not enough to use it as a crutch, study daily!
Exams are very hard but he scales. (dont count on that for your grade, or you will surely fail) His lectures can drag but interspersed with his funny stories makes him so likable you cant help but forgive him for those hell exams that dont match the lectures. Stick to the PowerPoints/book/homework and then the scale will be a score.
hes so amazing. Has 4 exams. Last is cumulative. He is such an amazing lecturer and goes over everything. Chemistry is not hard and if you study its easy to get a 100. He scales exams, has online quizzes and no homework. You will need the book from 105 to help study. Such a great professor would take him for 106 over any other prof. Hes super nice
professor is a bit over the place and disorganized, always makes corrections to HW files that have already been uploaded, doesnt correct quizzes correctly. Lectures can sometimes be funny and interesting.
If I were majoring in this field, I probably would have respected Marc's knowledge on this subject. He's VERY intelligent and super nice, but I could not have been more bored in this class. Also, responded to emails very quickly! Chem major? take him, you'll love him. AQSR requirement? maybe find something else
Professor Lamontagne is really great in lecture, he explains things well and is funny. 106 isn't too hard if you attend lecture and study from the notes he posts on blackboard. Exams and quizzes are a little hard, but not impossible.
He took over our class halfway through the semester and was great. He did voice overs for lecture and we just had to watch them and take notes. The exams come straight from the notes and he even scales the exams also. He is very nice and I highly recommend him!
I LOVE THIS MAN! If it wasn't for him I probably would have did terrible in chem 106. I had him for chem 105 as a freshman and I wasn't the best but he did help a lot. You can tell he loves chem because of his enthusiasm for it. <3
Taking this class during the pandemic was very easy and stress free. Quizzes are based on the lectures which are videos on bb. and the Assignments literally can be found directly in the readings he provides. Attendance was optional.
I loved Dr. Lamontagne! It was a very interesting class. You will have a quiz every week, and the reading is heavy. Lectures are long but very interesting. Just watch the lectures, take notes, and you will pass every quiz. You will also have to do 2 projects, but each one just takes about 3 to 4 hours to get done. I totally recommend this class!
Chemistry is not easy at all, but if you put in the time to study you should be able to pass the class! Professor Lamontagne is very intelligent, takes the time to teach his students, and is by no means very fair when it comes to grading. Put in the time and you will succeed!
He was an awesome teacher, he would break down lectures for you to understand it and he's willing to help you understand any concept you don't understand. I wish I would have put in the time and effort into this class, if you attend lectures and do homework problems you will do good in his class 100 percent recommend. Wich, I could take again.
Lamontange is a great professor. I was very nervous to take chemistry, but for lecture he outlined the most important things and only tested from what he taught in class. Chemistry in general is not easy but if you follow the notes and study, you can pass.
Dr. Lamontagne was one of the best professors Ive had in a while. He was so nice and respectful during his lectures, he stayed around after class to make sure all his students questions were answered. I enjoyed having him for a professor.
Posts lecture videos on BB. Very long, but good info. Quiz every other week approximately. Multiple choice/true false. 2 projects 10% of grade, rest of the grade is the quizzes. Super caring and understanding. Drops the lowest quiz grade.
Professor Lamontagne made chemistry so much easier than any teachers I have had in the past. Although his lectures videos are long, they're super informative and provide key info needed to do well on the assessments. So glad I took him this summer!
Professor Lamontagne was great! His labs are easy to follow and he walks you through every step and goes over the prelab before we do anything else and gives a mini "lecture" before the lab so we can better understand how to do the lab correctly. he drops the lowest quiz grade in lecture and averages the lowest exam grade with the others.
Overall I think this professor was very funny and would give a lot of the lectures stories so that you could remember the material. His lectures could get extremely boring and the material itself was very hard. He does scale the exams and quizzes and drops the lowest which was a huge help!
He was a really great Professor. You can tell he truly cares about his students and wants them to succeed. He explains things in a calm and patient manner and is available for help if you need it. Overall, great professionalism!
Professor LaMontagne is amazing. He made chemistry very easy to understand. Attendance isn't mandatory because he posts his lectures on Blackboard. I definitely recommend him for Chem 105 & 106. He drops the lowest quiz grade and exam grade. If you take him for Lab, he will also drop the lowest lab grade.
Took Chem 106 during the summer, online lectures and in-person lab. Drops the lowest lab grade and drops the lowest assessment (exam) grade. Chem 106 was much easier than Chem 105 but he made both courses easy to follow. Would definitely take again if necessary.
I had him for both lab and lecture and he was awesome, very thorough and nice.
He's very kind and passionate. Very accessible outside of class and genuinely cares about his students.
I enjoyed having him as a professor he is a considerate grader. Drops lowest quiz, scales exams, etc. If you try your best and actually study you will be fine. I recommend taking him!
Highly recommend Professor Marc Lamontage's class! Challenging but worthwhile. Stay focused, ask questions, and check out his helpful lecture videos on Blackboard. Taking notes is key, TAKE HIS CLASS
Very good professor, made chem easy & enjoyable!
If you're looking for a great chemistry professor who will help you pass the class and truly understand the subject matter, then you should definitely take Professor Lamontagne. He curves exams based on the class average, and he also drops the lowest quiz score. His lectures are very clear and easy to follow. And he never uses confusing language.
I absolutely love Professor Lamontagne! He is so sweet and really cares for his students. As we all know, the content for Chem is always hard, but he somehow makes it easy to understand & prepares you well for the exams :)
He is so fun, he cares about the material he is teaching. He goes off on little tangents but they are fun, and he keeps you engaged the whole lecture. He is a fun and caring guy.
Dr. Lamontagne is an awesome professor, it is obvious that he loves what he does and is very caring, hilarious, and high-energy. He always tells stories and personal examples relating to the material which is funny and keeps you engaged in lectures. His handwriting is sometimes difficult to read, but if you have questions, he will answer them.
Professor Lamontagne is fantastic - clearly passionate and makes chemistry easy to grasp. Highly recommend using unstuck study alongside the class materials to stay on top of the content.
A very friendly man. Unfortunately confused by the reviews. If the review was soley based on personality yes 10/10. But it isnt. Although I received an -A in this class is exams are extremely far left field from what he lectures. Simple molecules he shows in class as not was is shown on exams so be prepared for that. Only 20 questions per exam.
He tells jokes, he cares about the material he is teaching, he is very fun and caring, he wants whats best for his students, the materiel is hard, but the way he teaches it makes it easy to understand..
this is a good class to take to balance out your class schedule. The most you would do is take an exam every two weeks and it is available on Thursday evening to Friday night and in October and December you have a tiny project to do that is open text. His class is very easy and on Fridays he would post his lectures that you can take notes on.
Super easy just pay attention and go to class
all lecture material is posted online and attendance is not mandatory. online quizzes are easy. tests are difficult but he often scales them which is verryyyy helpful. final not required as long as you are content with your grade.
He is very sweet, and caring! He is also very accommodating, final exam is not mandatory as long as you maintain a stable grade. He will drop your lowest grade. He is very smart, and makes it easy to understand hard material. He does talk a bit fast, but if you sit in the front and really pay attention, you will be fine. I recommend him to anyone.
Very lecture heavy, so pay attention and take a lot of notes. Really sweet guy, he cares a lot about what he teaches and will answer any questions you have. he scales all of the exams and will drop your lowest one at the end of the semester. class is often very boring though, but still a great class.
He is a fantastic guy! Absolutely loves what he does and is super passionate! His lectures are slideshows but he also does a great job explaining everything. Related difficult concepts with easy to remember analogies. Would 1000% recommend him to anyone.
