Yeah, if your not an english major you won't get anything higher than a B. He is a tough grader, but his class is interesting. The only good thing is that he does not give a lot of work!

A little eccentric but definitely the best english professor I've ever had. Made Shakespeare so easy to understand (he ACTS out the scenes instead of reading them). Definitely take a class with him. I will take all the info I learned in his class when I teach.

This man is a genius! I have never experienced a teacher like this before. A 3 hour class with him flies by. Always has a funny story...always entertaining. He has a way of making you interested on subjects you wouldn't ordinarily be interested in. THE BEST!!!!! If you can...take him!!!

this is the most entertaining teacher you will ever find. he is a tornado that spends 90 minutes making a boring subject interesting and funny. quirky, but genius.

If you aren't a God/Jesus freak and don't know the entire Bible backwards and forwards, the class is very alienating and isolating. Otherwise, he's great.

Major+: knowledgeable with Bible,he can help guide you through the numerous Christological metaphors found in literature. I like him a lot so far. Except, I feel bad for him because he has this amorphous blob sitting in the front of the class room, making these inappropriate/flirtatious, completely irrelevent comments all the time. My one complaint in the class is him not telling her to shut up! For the most part, he's making an otherwise dull subject incredibly interesting for me.

His classes are actually very soothing, and meditative: his voice, his presence behind the podium, his energy...he obviously has help from Above. Professor Ricciardi fights the good fight everyday, and everyday he wins.

Real cool teacher! Makes what I am reading make sense! He's really funny, and makes it easy to pay attention! Great teacher I would definately say take his classes!

He's an awesome teacher and is extremely interested in having the students really understand the stuff that he presents. The complete antithesis of the modern pedagogic archetype. Though a bit objective at times, his enthusiasm for the material is unrivaled. The man actually loathes assigning papers and scheduling exams. Simply a wonderful human being that is more than willing to assist you while understanding the exterior life of the student.

The Greatest Professor I have ever had in my life..... Ricciardi has taught me more in the few English classes I have taken with him then I have learned in my entire college career. His passion and knowledge is amazing. His classes are always interesting and he is always there if you need help.

Best professor ever. Gives an extremely religious, Catholic viewpoint to every work of literature. This view is very important, and works well with the other English professors' views, being it different from theirs. Not easy, but if you go to class, and do thorough work on the essays and exams you will get the grade you deserve. TAKE HIM

This man is the greatest English teacher that ever walked the earth. He is a hero and a rolemodel to all future teachers, even if they are not going to be teaching English. I strongly suggest that you take this professor's classes; all of them. When the semester gets you down, attending his classes is therapy for sanity.

Take The Milton class. The best teacher I have every had--Really makes you appreciate literature. Everyone should take him at least once!

I had the pleasure of being the only student in his Eng 400 summer session 3 class. He is one of the greatest people in the world. He has helped my writing like no one else ever has...and he was a very interesting person to talk to. He has strong beliefs in his Catholic Religion and is not afraid to express them. I strongly suggest taking him.

only negative is that he makes his christian religious views painstakingly clear, so if you STRONGLY disagree, i dont recommend him. i'm pretty open-minded, so i understand and can laugh about it. he is insanely comical and really helps you understand the hard material. he is my hero!! ^__^

Ricciardi is the BEST English professor you could ever take. He's HYSTERICAL and you really learn a lot in his class. No papers-just the midterm (which he gives an outline for-SUPER EASY)..everyone should take him at least once!! AMAZING PROFESSOR (He's actually a Dr.). LOVE RICCIARDI!!

My favorite professor at St. Joseph's, hands down. A three hour class goes by so quickly, and he really gets passionate about what he reads. Keeps you interested and having fun while reading Shakespeare, take him at least once!

You have not lived until you've heard professor Ricciardi talk about his training as a samurai, or heard him rap the opening lines of "Pilgrim's Progress". He is probally the funiest teacher I have every had. He has made my writing 100x better but he is a hard grader. He usually keeps you laughing the whole class and his wardrobe is pretty funny too. He usually wears pants that are 4 sizes too big with batman ties.I would totally recommened him only buy a pair of ear plugs he does yell when hes excite

I've taken many classes with him and he is my favorite teacher in the entire school. He's so funny and beyond helpful. My writing has greatly improved, and I've truly enjoyed learning because of him. He is opinionated as everyone says, but who isn't? Definitely take a class with him before you graduate.

You will leave his class with so much more knowledge than you EVER thought you would be able to pick up from one course.. but his courses are always stress free! Yes, he is awesome but his style is more performance than getting his students to be able to interpret/analyze Lit on their own. I had a hard time separating what HIS impressions/opinions were from what the AUTHOR was actually saying (esp bc the class is Old ENG Lit). Awesome class but doesn't teach you how to "do it" on your own.

He is my absolute favorite teacher. His teaching style really helps you connect to something you didn't know you had interest in. He makes class completely enjoyable and it would be a total loss if you didn't take at least one class with him. Everything you've heard about him is true!

Dr. Ricciardi is the best educator that I have ever come into contact with. Not only are his classes always enjoyable, but if you have an open-mind and take time to think about some of his ideas, his classes can be a life-changing experience. WOW! He keeps you engaged through thee entire class. You don't need your cell phone or music to keep you awake during this class. He breaks down everything so you can understand the author's true meaning. He also explains writing a paper amazingly, he reviews with you what should be in it and things to help guide you along the way! AMAZING!!!

Really great professor. Makes the class enjoyable because he is very passionate and acts out all the readings. He lets you do re-writes too which is great. Take his class if you want to have fun. He also really makes you learn because he explains things very well.

Dr. Ricciardi was a great professor because he was fun, he was clear, active,and he explained everything in simple terms. He limited his use of "jargon" in order to make class interesting. Allows re-writes and has no problem embarrasing students who are disrespectful to other classmates by using cell phones or talking out of turn.

ALL PROFESSORS NEED TO SIT IN ON HIS CLASS AND TAKE NOTES. Seriously, I learned more from on of his classes than I did during a whole semester with other professors. His method of teaching helps you REMEMBER the material and CONNECT it to other types of literature, history, and real life. TAKE DR. RICCIARDI!

Ricciardi is the BEST professor I have ever had at SJC. He pours his heart into teaching and genuinely cares about his students. I honestly cannot say enough great things about him. You will never get bored in his class! He goes above and beyond to help his students. Also, he has consultations every time you turn in a paper, which is so helpful!

I had A LOT of trouble with this class,took notes line by line when he was reading. he encouraged questions & since it was tough for me i was always asking, he is very clear on what he wants in the 2 papers, no midterm & 1 final he gives you the question to prepare. told me i received a c but gave me a b because i was involved & asked questions

He is an amazing professor that teaches difficult material in such a way that it's easy. If you want to actually learn, I suggest taking this class!

BEST PROFESSOR AT SJC! He makes difficult material seem like 2+2 and personally goes over essays with each student. If your paper is late 2 weeks he won't care. The only thing bad about him is that his time management skills are horrible. However, he doesn't take it out on us so it doesn't really matter. Also, he never takes attendance. TAKE HIM!

Favorite professor at SJC. Engaging, funny and knowledgeable. Helpful and understanding, more concerned about you learning then just churning out assignments. Not great with time management, but he never takes it out on students and adjusts curriculum accordingly. Not too many assignments, not crazy about attendance but no technology allowed.

Great professor!! had him for intro to poetry, only 2 papers and a final he prepares you for! if your paper is not a B or higher grade he gives it back to revise. All we do is read poems from the text and analyze them, very interesting, nice, and easy going professor. No homework just go to class and be ready for crazy discussions! recommended!!

Being a freshman in college, Ricciardi was definitely the perfect fit for me. He translated difficult poems into really interesting, understandable ones. He is absolutely hilarious and includes his students during class. Be prepared for his embarrassing stories, recommend 10000% He is also very understanding and generous

He's actually amazing. I love him. He's so kind and accommodating. So long as he sees effort and you participate, you're guaranteed a good grade, and you get as many revisions as you need to get a good grade. Take his class. He's the best in the entire English department.

Favorite professor at this school. He is less focused on rigid structure and more focused on his students actually learning and gleaning something meaningful from his subject matter. He's also hysterical, and never takes himself too seriously. This is the kind of professor that makes learning enjoyable, and he always gives great feedback.

I happened to take Dr. Ricciardi my first semester at SJC, and immediately signed up for every class I could with him (that applied to me). Lectures are essentially him reading sections of text (which is incredibly entertaining). You write a lot of papers for him (4-5), but he has a very basic structure; so long as you follow it, you'll do well.

He will personally act out all the plays you read in class and make sure everybody understands them. he is hilarious, and he will go out of his way to help every student. he is a little tough on grammar but he allows rewrites. goes off topic a bit but we were always ahead of schedule with the readings.4 plays, 4 papers. great professor!!

I was hesitant about taking Supernatural Horror, but I'm so glad I did. Professor Ricciardi is one of the nicest, funniest professors I've been given the privilege to have. Not only is he extremely helpful with writing the papers, but he also understands that life gets in the way, and will check up on you. If you get the chance you take him, do it.

This man is absolutely hilarious. Makes the class so much fun and even dressed up for halloween. He really understands if you are struggling and helps you along as much as possible. I took this class as a freshman and it was honestly a great class with an easy A. There's a total of four plays and four papers all less than 3 pages each. He doesn't count attendance but I would definitely show up for the notes. Very caring and funny!

Professor is my favorite professor so far! The course content does not interest me, but he made it SO easy to stay focused and engaged. He is very loud (in a good way) and loved what he is doing and made it such a good class!!

Professor Ricciardi was an absolutely amazing professor. He is definitely a little unorganized, but honestly as long as you pay attention it doesn't really become a problem. He will break down every single thing there is to know about the text. He is a pretty easy grader, and gives you the tools to succeed in his class. I would highly recommend!

Professor Ricciardi once told me that he doesn't read any of the reviews on here because he doesn't want to see negative things people say about him. I made sure to let him know that nearly every review talked about how amazing he is! I've taken 3 of his classes, and can honestly say that you'd be crazy not to take him at least once.

TAKE HIM. Even if you dont like greek he will get you engaged in class. Always has something funny to say. you will never leave class sad. 3 total essays and that was it. really is a great guy i recommend taking

Professor Ricciardi is a hilarious and engaging instructor who really brings the course material to life. The workload is manageable, and unstuck AI helped me stay on top of things.

Professor Riccardi is amazing. He is so funny and extremely passionate about his work. You will read 3 plays throughout the whole semester. The only graded work is 3 blue booklets based on the plays. He will set aside a whole day just to go over things you can write about in the essays, and will make sure you understand everything. Very reasonable

He is incredibly passionate about the materials he teaches, and he does an incredible job connecting these works to just about anything. One of the most impactful people in education I have met.

Such an interesting guy that you can tell loves his job and is enthusiastic about the material he teaches. Incredibly loud yet funny. Attentive and likes to learn about you and your interests, gives incredible feedback. Would take a class with him again, very entertaining.
