The dude is more legit than Jeff Bridges in 'The Big Lebowski'
He is silly and nice. He makes you laugh and he didnt make us purchase the text book. The labs are exactly what he teaches. All of the lectures will be posted to blackboard. Attendance is not mandatory, but he asks for you to come to class. He is very helpful and will even help during the labs.
This is the easiest class I've ever taken and Marc is extremely cool. He really relates to his students and his lectures are easy to follow.
The best and easiest professor you will ever have. This class is a great GPA booster. Most chill professor at UA. Easy material but he makes everything actually really interesting and you learn a lot! I HIGHLY recommend taking this class with him.
This class was so simple. He is funny and he doesn't require much. Basically just show up and pretend to listen. He didn't require a textbook. Everything was posted online and the labs were exactly like the lectures. He helped many times during the labs. TAKE HIS CLASS. Easy A!
Super nice guy and connects with students bc he is like 25. Other than that, the lecture portion of this class was useless. He was unprepared and made dry material even drier. He also skipped over much of the material bc he figured we already knew it. Easy class that would actually be useful for my grandparents.
The class is pretty easy and he doesn't take long in the class. The longest I ever had to sit in class was about 30 minutes and that included the lecture and taking a quiz. He will help you get an answer on the quiz and most in class assignments are group efforts He is funny and makes the class a little more fun.
He does everything for you to pass, but the class is very boring and he also seems bored while he lectures. Don't miss class because it has a quiz every single day. Take this class only if you're willing to get an easy A+ ; because the content is too basics.
Skipwith has been one of my favorite teachers this semester. As an education major who cares nothing about databases, I enjoyed this class. The material was still kind of boring but easy to understand if you studied. He gave clicker quizzes which weren't terrible. The labs seemed hard, but I made good grades on all of them. He also is HILARIOUS.
Very helpful and set clear expectations at the onset. Highly recommend
You hear from him the first day, and then you're on your own. He'll make some announcements every now and again. He's really funny and super approachable; he's so willing to help if you need it.
TAKE HIS CLASS. He is an awesome teacher - so friendly, nice, and hilarious.
He is young and hilarious. Keeps lectures short. Does have clicker quizzes that are also attendance points. Labs are fairly easy as well. 2 exams, the 2nd wasn't given during finals. It's not a hard class at all but does involve some studying since exams cover 5 lectures each. No textbook needed. Only a clicker.
only come to class for tests, homework is due the morning of test. Easy
You should not have to spend over 2 hours a week on the assignments in this class sometimes they are less then 30 minutes. Test are long but it should not be very difficult since it is a ONLINE computer class. I am not even sure there was a textbook for the class he provides weekly power points you should skim each one has a test question from it.
hes funny and easy
This class seems to be thrown together from a variety of wiki sites. There does not appear to be a linear line of progression through the course. There is no book for the course, only PowerPoint lectures. The tests are based on the lecture materials, so they are no too bad. The homework pretty much sucks, though.
Tries to keep lectures short, classes have clicker quizzes (10) and 10 labs. All fairly easy. 2 exams, straight from lectures. Curves exams slightly, offers an extra credit quiz/lab. Also replaces lowest lab and quiz with highest. Take him for an easy A. I got above the needed points (1000).
Here is the deal, I have no idea who Marc Skipwith is. Never met him. The class is basically do an online training modules for about 2 hours a week before a 50 question test that week on that material. There are 7 grades, the averages for projects, modules, and tests on Web Browsers, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access. Pretty useful information.
CS102 is basically an online course and the only time you deal with Skipwith is on the first day. The class is very easy and if you do the homework a few times then it's impossible to fail the quizzes. I never made below a B on the quizzes. Very easy. Definitely a GPA booster.
Honesty have no idea who Skipwith is. Never met him. Entire class is online, and tests are taken in the lab (each takes 20-40 min) Class is a cake walk if you do the HW. (People take for granted that its MS Office, but the Excel part can be tricky.). Three projects, very easy, however if you cheat the computer knows it and will fail you.
I would highly recommend taking this class. Professor Skipwith is awesome and you do truly learn a lot in his class. During the labs, him and his TAs are very approachable to ask for help. If you go to class and actually try on the labs, you should do well on the tests as well as in the class as a whole. Awesome professor, awesome class.
Mr. Skipwith is one of the best Professors I have had during my 4 years at UA. He is very laid back and always willing to help his students. You have lecture with clicker questions and lab every week so you have to go to class. However, your 2 lowest clicker and lab grades are each replaced with the 2 highest. Super easy and enjoyable class!
In lecture there will be clicker questions which are easy and can boost up your grade. He's approachable and really funny. Tests have a lot of information on them so they can be difficult. He does drop a few of your lowest grades which is super helpful. He really wants you to do your best and pass the class.
I loved Mr. Skipwith. He is young and understands the stress we deal with in college, and if I had trouble with anything we would walk me through it and even give me points where he could tell I put in effort but just didn't understand how to make the final product. It's a class you learn from, and there's a wee bit of math, but it was worth it.
Skipwith is super chill. If you want an easy A then take this class.
CS 102 is an easy class. Just make sure to do your lessons and do all the practice exams. The weekly tests are exactly like the practice exams. Sends out emails to remind you of upcoming projects, etc... Very helpful. Easy A and an easily obtainable A+ if you want a GPA boost. Don't wait till the night before to do a project, lesson, etc...
This class was very easy. As long as you did the lessons and showed up for the test, you can pass. You'll have one test a week and it took my on average 15 mins to complete every test.
GREAT. He genuinely cares for his students and is ALWAYS willing to help you. If you need help, don't be afraid to ask him or his TAs. Took this class over the summer and it was mandatory for the most part. Class is similar to CS 102, but it's all Excel. It can be a bit tedious and hard at times, but it's very helpful because I hated Excel. Easy A
The absolute best professor I've had at Alabama! Definitely recommend him for ANY CS class!! Great personality, engaging lectures, & actually helps understand information!
Easy A. It's about 1-2 hours of work a week, but if you do the lessons you'll get As on every test. Projects are kinda hard, but professor offers help if needed. Only once a week, and the class only lasts 15 minutes max.
Skipwith is funny and cracks jokes but mostly you'll deal with his TAs for help. After the first class, you do homework modules online and only come to class to take tests on the homework material. Three projects: word, powerpoint, and excel. Easy A.
Funny, young fellow. Easy class, tests are only 20% of the grade.. the rest is from classwork assignments.
CS 102 is an easy course, you do your homework online, then meet in class once a week, take your exam and can go. In beginning exams took me about 10 minutes, but gradually get up to 30 mins by end of the semester. Teacher really doesn't make a difference for this course, just take advantage of the practice tests and you'll be fine with any prof
Marc is a really funny guy. He gives you all the material that you need to pass. you may have a few in class quizzes but it's open note open book. Also I would advise you to do the homework and practice labs because its the exact same thing as the test.
The dude is incredibly laid back - sometimes too laid back. Overall, I walked away from the class feeling like I learned something, just not sure if I could exactly pinpoint what it was. Take Marc if you want an easy grade. Lectures are always short, labs are easy, and tests are a joke.
I could've gotten A+ if I did not forget to do a lab assignment which was 50 points deducted from 1000 final points.. No, there is no make up assignment no matter what. I am really stupid for forgetting the assignment because it was an online class. I had 927.79/1000 and got A-.. Yeah.... don't forget to do lab assignment and you will be fine.
Skipwith is super laid back and really cool. He makes lectures quick and simple and will help you with any question you have on labs. He made this class really stress free and easy to understand the material. Just don't miss any assignments and you'll most likely get an A+. Must take.
CS 102 is the easiest class ever. You are essentially the teacher for the class because the course is taught online. In the test room, the TAs do the grade recording, and you only hear from the professor once (the first day of class). Therefore, there is no way to get a bad professor for this class.
Easy A, basic excel skills. If you do the optional homework the day before the test, it will prepare you for the tests, which you can easily score A's on. The quizzes are pretty easy as well. There are plenty of extra credit opportunities too to bring you grade up.
Easiest class ever, just basic Microsoft office skills. Impossible not to get an A+. Just do the weekly assignments and prepare for the tests, which are just like the online practice tests. 3 projects easy as well. You only come to class to take the test, which takes about 10 minutes of the hour slot. 2 points added to final grade if you attend
Definitely an easy A. Go to class once a week to take your tests and then do your assignments out of class each week and you'll pass with an A+.
Such an easy A, even an A+ if you do every assignment and take the practice tests. Test every week is annoying but really easy to prepare for. Extra credit available if you don't miss any tests.
easiest class at UA. Tests every week but exactly like the lessons, and you are given a second chance at a question if you get it wrong the first time. If you do the work(not a lot of it) you are guaranteed an A. I just needed this class as a pre-req not credit, but it helped my gpa!!
Didn't get a whole lot of experience with him. The class is totally computer based, but Prof. Skipwith is available outside of class. He's pretty funny as well.
You don't really interact with the professor because each week you just show up to take the tests, but the material was very easy. I took this class as a prerequisite for another class and it helped boost my GPA. The assignments usually don't take more than an hour and the tests themselves only take 15 minutes each week.
Other than the first day of class you don't really see him, but he did seem very nice and like he would help you if you needed it. All your homework is completed online at home, and you only go to class once a week to take a test that only takes about 10 min. Only took this class as a prerequisite for another class, but it's a very easy A+
Very easy class. If you do the lessons and practice tests and show up for the weekly test you'll do well in the class. There are 3 easy projects with clear instructions, and an automatic grader will tell you which part(s) are messed up so you can fix them before you submit it. Easy A as long as you do the work.
CS102 is an easy A. The only thing you learn is how to use Microsoft Office. There is weekly homework online. Class time exists only to take a weekly test. The course doesn't take up a lot of time in your schedule, you'll get a good grade, but probably won't learn anything worthwhile. Instructor might as well not exist, everything is on computers.
This class was just once a week and so it was basically required to go to class. We often got let out early. Each 'lecture' was just other staff members coming in to talk about different majors and job opportunities. we only had four assignments and getting the $11 book was extra credit. super chill dude and helpful advisor.
All you have to do is the practice lessons outside of class and then show up to your class time and take a test on it. Its just Microsoft excel, word, powerpoint and access so most of it I knew already. you get 50 mins for the test and most people take less than half that time. But you have to go to the test and do the lessons before the due date.
This class is super easy and Mr. Skipwith is a really nice teacher! As long as you do your assignments on line by the due date and show up once a week to take your test your fine!
The class is super easy overall. You just "learn" about Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and go through a module online each week. You just show up to class to take a quiz on each module, and the tests are EXACTLY like the review. If you get anything lower than an A you're just being lazy. He also offers a couple make-up days so if you miss it's okay.
Skipwith is a nice guy, you just don't see him much after the first day of class. Everything except the tests are online, so you basically teach yourself the material. You go to class to take the test every week and then you can leave. If you do the lessons and do the practice exams a few times, this class is a super easy A and GPA booster
One test a week and modules due every week. It doesn't matter what professor you have, it's all the same. If you do your modules, take the practice tests, and show up and take the test, you will have an easy A. Skip is really cool though and always offers help if you need it. Class only takes about 25 minutes and you can start 10 min early
The class is an easy A, show up once a week to take the test. He is just rude, never responds to emails and if he does he is sarcastic.
Skipwith is a great professor. This class is any easy A if you actually try. Apparently he is the easiest professor of them all but all of the CS 285 professors are good. Class never lasts the entire time. There is one lab test and one lecture a week but go to the lecture bc there are sometimes quizzes. Overall he's a great teacher,
The teacher you get for this specific course really doesn't matter at all because you probably wont even see them after day 1. Just do the practice tests at least once and it's nearly impossible not to ace the weekly tests. Do your homework too!
This class was an easy A. You just take your tests, and do your assignments online. Skipwith only said about 10 words to our class and that was on the first day.. his emails were short and he could be rude. Overall a good teacher but also he didnt really teach
Didn't really have to go to class other than for tests once a week. Do the lessons and practice exams and you will make an A+.
Marc is by far the best looking professor at Alabama, I took this class to admire his appearance I was not actually interested in computer science whatsoever. He is such an amazing professor I was still able to get an A+ even though I was constantly distracted.
Easiest class at Alabama. All work is online except for once a week tests that last 10 minutes. Professor Skipwith is super cool!! Definitely take him. Easy A+.
This class is very easy, especially online. Straightforward grading as it's all done by the system, not professor. If you complete all of the required work should be an easy A. The only effort I put into this course was completing the required assignments. Access is intuitive and easy to learn.
hes a great teacher and he knows what hes teaching but if you do not put in the effort he knows and will not care when you fail.
You don't really hear much from him. The class is basically online, but you have to go to class once a week to take a test. They're super easy and the lessons online are quick and painless. As long as you do the lessons, you'll make an A.
Skipwith made this class so easy. He told exactly what you needed to know for the quizzes and projects. He never wasted the classes time and we often got out of lecture early.
He's a really cool guy and makes the course super easy. Just get the work done and you'll be fine. He's there to help if you need it, though.
Prof. Skipwith is one of the coolest professors at UA if you go talk to him. The course is easy to pass.
Professor Skipwith is great. Not a class you can skip, lectures last a maximum of 30 minutes because there's always a quiz, but he is very helpful on the quizzes and makes sure that you know the material. Typical CS class, tests and online projects that count as tests, and a lot of bonus opportunities. He's younger, so he's understanding.
Took 302 online, it was pretty easy, you have to keep up with the assignment dates or you will get points deducted off. Pretty straightforward, and the training on Sam Cengage pretty much tell you how to complete your quizzes and projects. The projects can be difficult.
Take this class!! It is so easy. Do the homework, take the practice test and the real test is the same as the practice! Easiest A I've ever had in college. His lectures are quick and to the point and you're not in class the full length of time.
This is a very easy class that just involves showing up and doing the necessary work. Mark doesn't waste students times during lectures, and makes sure everyone is prepared for the tests and quizzes. There is no excuse not to do well in this class if you are putting in the effort.
I loved this professor. He was very funny and wanted you to do well in the class. You do need to go to his lectures because you have a quiz each lecture. They are not hard though and as he goes through the notes he will tell you what is on the quiz. Also, he doesn't keep you in class long. There are also lots of chances for extra credit.
His CS 102 class is an easy A+ if you just do the busywork every week. Not hard at all.
I really enjoyed this class. There were only 4 lectures we had to go to and he gave bonus for attending one of them. The online HW and Quizzes can be tedious but they aren't difficult. Easy A if you invest a couple of hours a week on it.
This class is incredibly easy, I do not understand why people don't do it/pay other people. You get multiple attempts on all assignments. Even though a lot of it does feel like busy work, I did learn a great deal of information.
CS 102 is easy. He is an easy professor. It is straight busy work, but it is not hard.
I took CS 102 with skipwith and it was downright annoying. The work each week was A LOT and boring. The skills are also not useful as I have gone my whole life up until this point without using most of it. The grading is weird as he averages your submission grades instead of using the best attempt
CS classes aren't hard in general, but he made it even better by being so laid back. We only had lecture every other week, then lab tests every week (like any CS class). Tests are just like the homework. There are makeup assignments if you do bad on anything. If you do your work on time, you'll easily get an A.
CS302 is so easy, and this professor is really cool. Take him
This class sucks, its not the professors fault but more of the overall time it takes to do the work. I promise you will waste HOURS a week for this class and its extremely boring I highly advise against it.
CS102 is literally just Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access. That's it. You have tests and projects for Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. This class was entirely online for me except the three tests. Marc was very slow when responding to emails, but is a very nice guy. The tests are just like the practice tests. Homework takes a bit of time.
The course itself was great! I learned a great deal from the course and the software was extremely resourceful. However Mr. Skipwith is not the most compassionate professor so be on your p's and q's all semester. He was not helpful at all when I experienced unforeseen situations and except all emails you send to have a delayed response.
This professor sucks. Hes not compassionate, youll get late responses to everything, and he will not be upfront with you about whats required for the course. He will not give extensions no matter what the circumstances are. Better be on your best behavior for this class, this prof doesnt care.
Great teacher overall, so chill.
Professor Skipwith is a pretty easy professor. For this class you have labs every Tuesday and a lecture every other Thursday, but the lectures are never longer than 30 minutes. A lot of the times you wouldn't have to come in for the Tuesday lab if you did well on the practice lab. Easy A as long as you do the work that is maybe 2 hours max a week.
I think I had actual class maybe like 10 times. Most of the time it was work at your own pace and do everything when you want to. If we did have class it lasted at the very most, 30 minutes. Super nice guy and always happy to help. The material was tedious sometimes but pretty easy and actually useful.
Skipwith is laid-back and cancelled class pretty much every other Thursday. He offered multiple extra-credit opportunities, and every assignment had multiple attempts. The work wasnt hard. Our last class was the first week of November, so we basically got out a month early. I would 10/10 recommend.
Professor Skipwith is overall a good professor and a great guy. He is funny, and his lectures are short and to the point. The only negative thing is he does not respond to emails. One time it took him 2 weeks to respond to an email, and his response was not helpful. This class is super easy, and it was a good experience if you need a CS credit.
Mostly just busy work. Just show up to the computer lab and lecture hall and you will do fine. Cancels class a lot too.
Don't take this class unless you want to spend hours on busy work and memorization. Some of it was helpful but I don't see myself using most stuff I learned in the future. Tests are easy if you're good at memorizing, but the website is glitchy and marks you wrong sometimes. Annoying class, wouldn't take it again
He's very helpful and the class is super easy
100% would take Skipwith for any CS class. Had an extra credit assignment 7/10 weeks, if you made a 5/5 on it you didn't have to go to lab for exam on Tuesdays, received a 100 on the exam without doing it. Only had lecture every other Thursday w/ a quiz each time. Allows work to be late for weeks. If you take the time to do the work, it's an easy A
Wouldn't take CS 302 again - he was fine, but the class itself was cumbersome. Access assignments each week that took a while. Tests that were just like the homework but still long and at times cumbersome to work through. Access is also used by basically no one in the industry. So. However, he was accessible when I had an issue. So, meh.
Do not take this class unless you want to spend hours and hours on loads of busy work. I took cs 102 online and it was the worst thing I have ever taken. The assignments were so confusing and the projects and tests made me about cry every single time. Not to mention the teacher was not helpful and did not care if the website was messed up.
The class expectations are very clear and if you do the work it's an easy A+. Anyone who struggles in this class is not actually doing assignments. Skipwith also sends out reminders via email before all homework is due. You get 2 attempts and every test questions and unlimited tries on homework until the day they close
Pretty easy course, teaching style allows you to learn a lot on your own. Had a lot of freedoms in this class as to how we learned the material, but every week we were tested and had to know it, so it wasn't possible to put off.
Will help you if you need it. Do not get behind, find a good routine since the class is easy to forget about. Ask for help if you need it.
This class is so easy the professor really does not matter. Course was online except in person testing. Do your work and go over the lessons for the exams and they are super straight-forward.
Really easy grader and cares about his students. Cancels class a lot.
Such a chill guy. As long as you do the assignments posted online and go to lectures that are mandatory (there's not many) you'll pass. The midterm projects were a little hard but nothing horrible. Super easy upper credit elective.
Easiest class. Very little assignments each week and the tests are just like the practice tests.
Tests are hard and teacher is not helpful but class work is easy.
Definitely take this class. He is literally the best, makes everything so easily and it is mostly self-explanatory. The majority of work is online and you can finish at your own pace. There are a few in-person quizzes with a lecture but it is only to make things easier on you, they are not difficult at all.
Class was online so i can't say much for the professor, but the class is dumb easy.
Professor Skipwith is very hard to contact and when asking if there is a makeup or retake option he makes in only available one day way at the end of the semester when the information is old. He doesn't care what your issue is and will take 20% off your tests.
Professor Skipwith is accessible and will help just ask. I encourage you to do extra credit portions and be proactive. It is a hybrid class but if you get 90/100 on extra credit that will be your exam grade so you won't have to go on exam days. He is accommodating when you have issues. His TA is helpful as well!
I took this class online, and it was an easy A+. As long as you practice the commands, you'll get a 100 on every exam. Skipwith regularly emailed his students and made the course expectations clear. He was also accessible to any students with questions about the material. I'd highly recommend this class to fulfill your language requirement.
Very easy class with a very chill professor
Professor Skipwith makes this class a breeze. The work is mostly self-paced and online, with just a few in-person quizzes. Unstuck study and the free textbook were super helpful for prepping. Overall, an easy A if you stay on top of things.
Not nice when responding in emails, was not understanding. theres nicer computer science professors then him.
Great professor. A few in-person quizzes, but most work completely online. Could pace yourself with the syllabus or complete all at once. Attendance was not mandatory except for in-person quizzes. These were paper & he would "guide" them. They matched with the work for the week, very easy. Always in the class if you need help with parts of Excel.
He was a great professor. I had class every other week, and if you do the extra credit and passed you didn't have to take the tests. He is onto of answering his emails, and willing to help when you need it. Overall would take him again and highly recommend for 285!
Easy class. Take for an upper level C credit, especially if you're Arts and Sciences because of the upper level credit requirement. Responds to emails fast, you can work ahead, one test and one homework a week and both can be opened at the same time.
Professor Skipwith is an amazing professor! CS 285 is a very easy class if you complete all the assignments and the extra credit. He is very quick to respond to emails and cares about his students.
This class is not hard whatsoever. But it is extremely time-consuming. The homework assignments were literally so annoying to complete. The class is not hard as long as you do what you're supposed to do and please read the syllabus do not be like me and think you could submit things late without penalty.
He is an amazing professor, he always reminds you of assignments that are due and reminds you of tests.
This class was easy but the software gave me random bugs on laptops and the library computers that would cause me to get questions wrong and Marc does not care abt that stuff whatsoever, he rarely ever will give anyone credit for stuff like that. Other than that, chill professor and easy class, do work ahead of time because its due at 8am weekly.
This class is very easy. Dr Skipworth sends reminders about all assignments and tests. The tests are an easier versions of the post test so there is nothing to worry about.
Must not fail one assignment to get a b or higher
This class is SUPER easy, and Marc is an amazing professor! He always made sure to remind us about deadlines in advance, and always accessible outside of class. Super chill guy, I would definitely recommend!
Super easy class, and Marc is a super nice guy and very helpful. Always made sure to email to remind about deadlines, and gave recommendations for other CS classes to take. Only have to show up to class for tests (and theres only 3), and the homework is all online. Class is over by October too, I would 100% recommend this course and Marc.
As long as you participate he'll be fine. He talks really calmly and nicely. W Prof in general
