Not helpful when you ask questions. Tests hard. He constantly makes remarks like this stuff isnt that hard...he thinks becuase he has a masters in economics that you should be at his level. He does give the chance for alot of extra credit.
As long as you follow the instruction from day one the class is not that difficult. Personal motivation counts a lot. Teaches well and easy to understand.
His class is somewhat difficult, but he is very funny. You cant help but to like him. Tests are difficult, but there are other assignments that are easy A's. Then there is a good bit of extra credit. Just do the work and you should be ok.
alright, whoever thinks that this professor is difficult should consider burger king as a permanent and the only source of income for the rest of their lives. The guy is funny, fairly straightfoward. My advice pick him for your next semester.

He comes off as a bad ass first class but he's really not. He makes fairly good jokes and is clear when explaining the material. I enjoyed the class, even though I really had to work my tail off.
entertaining, somewhat dark sense of humor, really seems to care about trying to educate his students
not a hard teacher, but it's a hard course--he will explain everything in a very clear manner--you just have to show up for class and do the work
HARD HARD HARD but I learned a lot. Do your work and study a lot. Awesome class.
This is a hard course. Attendance is essential to making a good grade since a lot of what he teaches will be on the tests, but be sure to also read the chapters. Some information will be on the tests from the book that he did not cover in class.
Great teacher. His class is straight forward and covers 90% of the test material in class.
Great teacher, the main benefit of his class in my opinion is that he imparts his own philosophy. In addition, the material is presented in a clear logical manner with real world examples.
I liked this class. He makes a lot of jokes and tries to make econimics less boring. Covers 90% of material in class. The only thing I didn't like about him is that he makes somewhat offensive jokes about students.
very good teacher a hard class but if you pay attention in class you should do fine
Hard subject matter, but if you don't miss class, take good notes, and study the book, you will get a good grade. Use the on line study help, but also buy the study guide from the bookstore. It would be very difficult without the study guides. Do all the extra credit.
He gave me a hard time once and straightened me out.. I loved the experience! Good guy, laid back.. It was fun!
Tests are difficult at times and the final was not what was learned in class. He makes jokes about gays and other nationalities, very unprofessional. I love Economics and this class was a disappointment.
Dont know about quality, etc. But if u r suicidal dont take his class)) I walked out on him on 5th minute of 1st class. I was boiling; thought i would explode in there and **ck him off. He was basically tellin' us that he doesnt give a **it'n'yall cant use bathroom, trashcan, stretch, move, raise ur hand,burb,cuff,sneeze,yawn..w/o loosin' points!!hate
still dont know what to think about the guy as a person, as a teacher he is straight forward. tells you what will be on the test, goes over 90% of it in class and will clerify stuff if youre having a hard time. very unique sense of humor, some could take it as offensive.
He's a cool prof. He could be considered difficult, but he is an interesting and pretty funny guy. He always lets us out early. You will need to outline every ch. He calls on us to answer questions so the outlines are important. Tests are directly related to the outlines and class discussions though. He gives bonus for going to the gpc soccer games
This class is not a hard class. DO NOT study the book. STUDY the study guide book that goes along with the book. The tests were from the study guide book. I failed the first test but passed all the rest with no less than a B b'cause of the study guide book. DO THE EXTRA CREDIT. IT helps your grade A LOT!!!!
He is an Ok teacher however is u get on his wrong side he will hate u and make ur semester a complete failure. So if u want to get an easy A u must suck up to him and hope he likes u. U must go to all his lecture in order to get on his good side. His test are old and u can find them around campus. His teaching is arrogant but funny for others.
All I can say is that even sucking up to him does very little. I worked my ass of and barely made a B. Be prepared to study more than in any other class and BE ON Time. Not recommended if there is another class available!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great prof. If you come to every class and write down every word that comes out of his mouth, and study those notes you'll have a B. Beware he takes points for tardiness, absences, & cell phones, but he gives extra credit also.
Attendance is important in this class. Great professor but you must take notes from text book as he will not let you use the book in class. Lectures are important and make sure you purchase the study guide as it helps you prepare for his tests. He also lets you do extra credit.
Very arrogant personality and poor ethics. Extra point may help you. He will explain a little during class and when he gets tired, he let you leave early. However, the wording on the tests & quizzes are very technical. Don't get comfortable with his explanation during class... Test are hard!
Good teacher overall. Study what he talks about in class. Reading the chapter and having some notes prior to lecture will be helpful. His tests are all MC but can be difficult. I don't think Mr. Zagara expects anything ouf of the ordinary from students. I also liked the fact that he is not afraid to voice his political interests.
Challenging teacher. Gotta study for tests...mainly the book and must come to class all the time b/c the majority of the tests are from his lectures. key statement: MUST STUDY FOR HIS CLASS!
I LOVE this man! He's really funny.. if you have 1/2 a brain, you'll do fine in his class. He does pick on the stupid people, but it's funny. He just expects you to study and come prepared. His tests are hard, but you can get a 100 if you get what he's talking about. HIGHLY recommend if you're not a slacker.
he's a straight teacher and will make you laugh. he is stern on attendence and dont even think of leaving in the middle of class but he will help you on anything. tests are hard but study the book not his notes. article review is pretty straight forward and he helps u with it.
Hard tests but he does care about his students. I misjudged him and thought that I would fail, if you work hard he will pass you but he expects you to work exceptionally hard. Use the textbook, his lectures are there to provide a well rounded perspective - they aren't relative to the tests study hard and you'll pass - Very smart man.
Mr. Zagara is great. Explains everything very well. He harps on the all of the curves. If you remember the economic curves you will do excellent. Just study your textbook, and be careful as to what the test questions are REALLY ASKING and you will easily get an A. He does expect you to attend, and to not disrupt class. Be cognizant of his rules.
He's a good teacher but he doesn't like having his views challenged. Of course who am I to challenge him when he knows a hell of a lot more about the economy. He's helpful when it comes to extracredit but his tests are book based. I suggest going on the book's website and taking the practice quizzes. A good class/teacher during these strange times.
Zagara is a good teacher. He is strict, but he cares about his student. He will tell you anything he expects from you on the first day of classes. Have the textbook, read it or you will not pass the class. The tests come from the book. Do not spoil it. Just follow his directions. He got helpful extra credits. Do not blow it. You can make an A.
Mr. Zagara is really there just to collect a paycheck. He was helpful in explaining the material throught the 1st three tests and then after that he let us leave class 15 minutes after arriving. We learned nothing in 15 minutes and our test scores as a class showed. Only 1 person was exempt from the final...so you do the math
he's really hot!
I took him and thats the hardest guy i ever took i was taking calc during the same time and his class was harder then calc wtf! I busted my ass on every test and i still got a d word to the wise dont take him bc now im retaking econ and this new guy is a real teacher
this is the worst excuse for a professor and i admit i was a dumbass 4 taking him but if you even want a chance 2 get a B or higher then apply somewhere else because this is not the guy! dont be a dumbass like i was and pick antone else TRUST ME
good teacher. informational. definitely republican. but overall you get what you put into it.
Wow, he calls himself a professor what a joke, I got an A in calculus and D in his class and i studied so much, my gpa is 3.6 and i aced both my acct classes if you wanna pass, dont take him TRUST ME I WISH I LISTENED
pretty hard. your pretty much gonna be insecure in his class through out the semester. Constantly repeats things and is pretty funny. Take him if you already KNOW economics.
Terrible. Wouldn't even let me take the midterm because I was five minutes late. Begged him for two hours to let me take the midterm, and he basically told me that I should either drop, or he should fail me. This man should not be called a teacher, because he doesn't care if he's taught you anything or not. I have never written on this site before.
tests are very hard but he gives up to 10% worth of extra credit on your final class grade, tests are very hard but if you do your homework you will be fine. i made an A but i worked very very hard. I would recommend him if you are hard working..lazy people WILL FAIL!
He is NOT kidding when he says almost everyone will not pass without the extra credit. The tests are extremely old and i am not even sure if they are relevant to the current text. He will not really go over the material that will be on the lest in his lectures(tests are really tricky). Read all text and ask questions during class!
This is probably the hardest college course I have taken, but its not impossible. His class is interesting but his test are hard. To be successful, buy the orange book bc the wording is similar to the test and read read read. But over all I liked this challenging class.
DON'T DO IT! His class is nearly impossible (even with the extra credit). He is unhelpful and when you ask a question, he talks over you with a condescending tone. He is overly sarcastic and just plain rude.
This is a class in which you WORK for your grade. He's strict on timing. Don't be late. I walked into class two minutes late and handed in a paper and lost points. Otherwise though, he's just good but tough. It's not that bad as long as you put in the effort. He's a pretty entertaining guy as well, as long as you understand what sarcasm is.
I love this guy! He's an ass and makes you work, but an A is possible. He exempts you from the final if you get an A test average. He's prob my all time fave teacher so far!
You have to read the book to pass his class. I really liked his lectures, because they partained so much to real life, but they don't help you on the test. The test is pretty much from the book, but they are really old and worded weird. I had a 4.0 my first year and a half in college. I worked my butt off in the class and made my first B.
He's a good teacher, He relates the material to life and uses easy to use examples. You will need the book for the most part I lost mine halfway thru But I still gotta B. The tests are worded different so go over it twice before turning it in. Come to class and you'll do fine.
he is either a tv personality or football coach. he makes the best use of the word sucks and screwed. he is cool, his hair is cool too. he wears tie on jeans. i think he is a divorced man. work hard and it does pay in his class If you are LAZY get the hell out of here
he is either a tv personality or football coach. he makes the best use of the word sucks and screwed. he is cool, his hair is cool too. he wears tie on jeans. i think he is a divorced man. work hard and it does pay in his class. If you are LAZY get the hell out of here
I read these reviews after I had signed up for this class. Get the study guide and do the extra credit. Lectures are entertaining but the tests are from the book and study guide. Attend class, read, take notes, study and do the extra credit. You'll get an A or B. Great professor because he isn't easy!
Zagara is a very good teacher... he transaltes what the book says into ordinary examples. You MUST read the book though because once you understand the context a little bit he will clarify in class. He is very strict on time but what do you expect its college. Just make sure you study hard and you will do fine. I got 100's on the first 4 tests easy
Had for Macro Econ. This is the first professor to get me interested in college. Although I didn't get the best grades I learned a lot and took many things from the class. I had no interest in this stuff but I found myself wanting to learn. Great teacher! Gives extra credit opportunities!
This is a great teacher. You need to take this professor! He wants you to succeed in life and tells you how to do so. The class is not easy but you will learn a lot- not just about "economics" but things that actually impact you. My favorite GPC prof so far.
Excellent Professor and very helpful.
Best teacher I've had at either GT or GPC. Cares about his students success, and gives opportunities for everyone to succedd, but you have to work hard for a good grade in here. I'm a pretty smart guy and worked my tail off for a B, but I didn't do any of the extra credit he offers. Take this class to truly learn. It will benefit you long term.
I took his class back in 2003. His lectures were really interesting and thought provoking. His tests were pretty challenging but not impossible.. (& im a good test taker). Tests are 50-100 questions & a 2 page dbl spaced essay which really isnt that hard. I got a C. Should've gotten a B in the class though. If u just wanna get thru Econ take him.
If you want to go to class and just hear him lecture about politics then take him. Only expect about 10% of what you learn in the lecture to be on the test. The rest you will need to learn on your own from the text book.
I took him for macro and as much as I like him as a person his tests are nothing like his lecture. If he gave tests from what he talks in class he would be the best teacher ever, but his tests are only from the book and they are hard. You must be prepared to read a lot from the book on your own.
horrible teacher. his tests are really hard and can be really confusing because of the way its worded. i studied sooo much for his class but barely passed his tests.
idk ive enjoyed this guy. his test are kind hard.. every test is 20 questions long. 6 test. gives extra credit opportunity every month(easy book report) if you listen and read you can make a good grade.. you just have to try.. (surprised?) and extremely sarcastic freakin loved that lol! laughing and learning is great!
HE is hilarious! IF you aren't a smart ass and you don't disrupt his class you will do fine. DO THE BOOK REPORTS. Could have failed this class and made an A. Took him for both Macro and Micro.
Tests are always hard and tricky
Just like the rest of the reviews he is somewhat clear, & he can be sarcastic. Like others stated the extra credit helps A LOT. I should have made an F in his class but I got a C due to the extra credit. I was not happy at all about the C but it is better than an F. I took him b/c I waited so long to register due to so if you can avoid taking him,
I took Zagara's class as an undecided, Ga Tech dropout. As corny as it sounds, his class inspired me to major in Econ. This year I received my BS in Econ and am enrolling for a Masters. Zagara is a great teacher who cares about the class and his students. Students complaining about difficulty did not put in the time or effort.
In my 2 years at GPC, definitely the most challenging professor. His lessons are difficult to understand & he moves quickly. His test are not easy to interpret, most of it comes from the book and not from what he went over in class. He can be sarcastic & sometimes a bit disrespectful towards students & the school. I do not recommend him...at all.
Extremely easy class in Dunwoody. This teacher is really, really hilarious and he's very passionate about economics and often gives you life principles to think about. I actually barely touched my textbook but still got an A in the class because everything is Multiple-Choice and he's extremely clear. 10/10 would take again
Great teacher. Some people find him funny, others could care less. None the less he is a good teacher and as long as you put in effort will make it very easy to get an A.
Prof. Zagara can be rude and sarcastic, however he knows his stuff. You will have to read very hard to pass his class and attendance is mandatory. Gives extra credit and once again he can be rude and very sarcastic. If you got thick skin, take him. You may learn a lot.
His lectures are clear for the most part, but he really only gives real-life examples in class. When it comes to taking the test, they are HARD. I'm a 4.0 student, and I haven't made higher than an 80% on his tests. He doesn't teach the way his tests are laid out. He doesn't teach us the logistics of economics, which is why most of us fail.
Challenging and thought provoking. Not an easy grade by a long shot, but that's the point. He wants you to work for it.
He's pretty strict. Tests are really tough, but if you study you can pass. The wording is just really confusing. He's hilarious though. Don't get on his bad side.
I originally took his class in 1998 but I was young and lazy. I got an 'F' in both micro and macro. I re-enrolled later in life in 2010 and intentionally looked for him to redeem myself. I had to work my butt off for the 'A' I got in macro. Now I'm taking him for micro. Take him knowing you have to work, but you'll enjoy clasd
Prof. Zagara is a good guy at heart. He gives an entire letter grade of extra credit, and you better do them. Make sure you stay on his good side, and get help when needed. He will be more than willing to help you on anything with his assignments. GO TO HIS OFFICE BEFORE TESTS! That has been my saving grace as well as the extra credit.
Took him for macro and micro at the same time. Tests are tough but if you come to class read and reread you should do fine made an A in macro and B in micro didn't do any of the extra credit.
He is the worst teacher I have ever had! don't take class with him. His tests are hard!!!! and doesn't teach good at all.
The worst professor ever, He is so though. Don't take class with him. He doesn't teach anything and his tests are so hard!!!
Marc Zagara is a good teacher but his lectures are short. The quizzes are very tricky and one occasion no one made an A in class. Extra credit is a must. I wish I had looked him up prior to taking his class. I would not have taken his class.
Took for Microeconomics. Professor Zagara is a funny guy, his lectures are short and it's straight to the point. Not once did I not thought his lectures wasn't entertaining or funny; he has hard tests, though. I think people will like him if they have a sense of humor, even though I would not suggest taking this class if you were dumb or lazy.
Took him for ECON 2105 & ECON 2106. His tests can be a tricky and difficult, but if you read the chapters, pay attention to his lectures, and take notes on everything he says then you will do fine in the class. Final exam is a breeze. There is plenty of extra credit opportunities which I would highly advise to do. I made an A in both classes.
