Great teacher, great intent, genuine and intelligent
great teacher, interesting, and not too hard, her tests are from study questions
Mrs. Norling is a very nice and funny professor, she is very intellegent and is up-to-daye, she usually grades her papers right away. Her class is very knowlegeable and easy, if you study you should get an A.

Alot of reading and expect quizzes at any time. Tests are easy if you study your notes. She is a pretty intense teacher, really knows her subject. Always a chance for class discussions on interesting current issues. Good class, not to hard to get an A
she's a very good and interesting teacher. the way she explains the theories is helpful when it comes to the essay tests.if you grasp the concepts then you should be fine. read the chapters so you can pass the quizzes.
So funny and energetic but definately has quirks. Easy A, just particpate in class, very refreshing, you watch a movie clip almost every class period, tests are easy, too.
Read the Book, and just casually listen during her lectures and you should get an easy A. She also offered alot of extra credit. Papers you turn in she grades pretty easy.
Write down all the stuff she writes on the chalkboard. Do the readings. Study your notes, easy A. oh yeah, she gives extra credit!
This is by far an excellent teacher, who is very passionate about her work. I saw her on her office hrs. Once a wk., she really will work w/you. She's brillant!! I got an A:) This teacher rocks and she's a star Trek fan.
This was one of the best professors i've ever had. She made the ethics class into a provocative and extremely interesting, participative class. The subject is only as interesting as the professor makes it, and she does better than anyone could.
When I had Prof. Norling she was struggling with a particularly apathetic class, of which few students seemed capable of philosophical thought. She's a great teacher though. Keep fighting the good fight, Prof. Norling!
Great teacher! Very passionate, interesting, clear and fair. You finish her class with new views on life, humanity and our nation as a whole!
she was awesome, had great energy...showed me what is right, good and true
She has alot going on in her head which makes it hard for her to keep on track. She always says "thoughts comments?" after everything which tends to get old. the test are unclear and she never tells what is going to be on them. MIdterm is so easy though.
A bit nutty and an extremely bias professor. However she seems like a nice person. Her tests are pretty basic and easy.
Prof. Norling is the best professor I've ever had. She's brilliant, which shows in her presentation of some of the most interesting material you will ever encounter in college.
She is a bit nutty, but has a good heart. I always looked forward to going to her class because the discussions were very interesting. An easy A, and lots of extra credit available to boost your grade.
Teacher very opinionated toward feminism, although it doesn't get in way of grade. Keep up with the work and class is generally average. Workload, not to hard.
Professor Norling is awesome! Great lady, dedicated to teaching and helping her students along. Participate and you will receive a good grade. She is extremely helpful.
Great class, great professor. She really promotes good dicussions and cares about her students grades. She even brings a box of tissues to every class and will walk them over to you if you sneeze. She's great!
Too opinionated, biased, and liberal-minded, yet exudes a down-to-earth quality reminescent of gorgeous strict-like instructors of hoary mid-nineteenth century America, fair-minded when it comes to dishing out extra credit assignments, and must be the most beautiful person, inside and out, I've ever
Awesome teacher..one of my favorites. Her class is never boring, & her teaching style makes you want to learn more about ethics. Class is thought provoking. She's intelligent and a nice teacher. Her exams are fair, and she also gives extra credit! Take her! =)
take her. easy class. midterm was easy. very lenient on response papers [as long as you make them substantial and understandable]. she is a nice woman and very approachable. made phil. fun too. all in all, a great teacher
So I just finished her class...got an A In the beginning it was really interesting.. Then it got retarded and I grew a strong hate for her because I thought she was so lame. Then in the end I realized she changed my life. Smart Lady. Midterm is hard, test are easy. DO THE READINGS or else you will fail. Oh and take notes. I recommend her highly
She is a nice lady but paranoid, if you sneeze SHE MAKES YOU take a Kleenex. Class is somewhat interesting, midterm hard as hell-a blue book, but she gives you the questions she is going to ask, so it is not that bad. Final easy-multiple choice. Some people in the class were somewhat annoying though, YOU KNOW who you are, ****ES!!! I got an A!!!<>
This is not easy material to teach or understand. She does an excellant job of teaching, when a student misses the boat it is becase they failed to do the reading and prep needed. She has had to shy away from response papers since there was just TOO much cheating (in ETHICS!). Anyone with honest desire to learn will (not just get credit)do well.
One of the best teachers I've ever had. She does a great job of teaching to people with no background in the subject while keeping things interesting for those who are majoring. Lots of discussion, lectures are concise and linear, and she has a great sense of humor. Her assignments are a little TOO easy. Plus she is hot, so there you go.
Great teacher- Easy class- germ freak- easy exams
blue book exams were soooo easy. She gives out the questions first so that you can prepare for them so there are no excuses when you don't do well. interesting class!
get ready to hear, "thoughts, comments?" nothing wrong with that, just keeps the juices in the class flowing. she was really kool. awesome teacher. easy blue books. learned some cool stuff. she rocks and any1 who gave her a sad face is just an idiot.
Good speaker, made me pay attention to material. Weekly m/c quizzes on book. Didn't grade too hard on paper. Classroom environment was open and comfortable.
One of the best teachers at this college. This subject is not very easy to explain and discuss because everyone has their own opinions about things, but she did a geat job. Do all the extra credit and listen to her in class and you will be fine study and read for the midterm.. she gives u the questions in the class so it's ur study guide.
Awesome, just awesome. Knows how to invoke interest in the subject. Challenging but fair assignments. Good sense of humor. This will be one of the college classes you remember for a long, long time.
She is very nice, and keeps you interested in the subject. I would imagine that Ethics is a difficult class to teach, but she does a wonderful job. She's funny and she makes sure you understand the subject. She is a great person to ask questions as well. She doesn't leave any questions unanswered, and loves to hear the opinions of others. She is very animated, and it makes class that much more fun. She makes you think, and while some students want anything BUT that from a teacher, those who will think, pass
I get an elitist vibe from this woman. Challenging points are not only lookeddown upon by the prof, but the suckers in theclass.Noone attempts to form their own opinions on these matters..memorizing ideas of others is fine, tho class would be more interesting if she'd engage students in intelligent conversation..also has to do with numb OCC students
i went into to this class thinking it would be hard, but norling made it very easy, and fun! she's pretty funny, she can be a little scatter brained, but it makes class more interesting. the quizes are extremly easy!
hahahahahaha.... Dont mess up on the quizes... People like the person below me claims they are easy. Only easy if you know all the answers...
She is awesome. She is able to lecture in a way that is compelling to people seriously interested but still informative and easy to follow for those who are not. She has a natural gift. She pays attention to her students and builds the class around what is most helpful for them. She is underpaid.
IF YOU CANT GET AN "A" IN THIS CLASS YOU MUST BE A FRICKEN @#$%#@@
Extremely nice lady, very good speaker. I love her class, this class is just very interesting. People always laughing during class time! Awesome teacher and class.
I absolutely loved this woman! she is brilliant as well as kind! She is very caring and understanding i really wish there were more professors like her. Her class was very easy, just make sure to copy the notes because she has more things off the notes on her tests than the book. =)
Great teacher. Teaches really well and her class is easy. Easy A if you put effort to this class. Nothing hard and everything very straight foward. She is very nice and caring.
Shes a great person, but as a teacher? kinda hard to understand... She doesn't really explain what she talks about, and its kind of hard to pay attention when she walks around the room moving her hands all over the place. What she does though which is a plus is u take 4 quizes but she drops 2 of ur lowest. No Final but the Midterm essay form=hard
She rocks- both as a teacher and as a person. My husband and I took her and really enjoyed her class. She is easy to understand, has cool topics, great reading, and the most lazy of students can still pass her class because she wants you to pass. She is just really cool.
SHE'S HOT!
Take HER: She's a great professor who has a unique sense of humor and gives alot of extra credit. Overall just take her class if you want an A
this was a class i had no interest in taking (but i had to), but she made it pretty fun...she grades pretty easy...you can redo any of your essays for better grade...she has 4 quizes and drops 2 of them...quizes were also super EASY...midterm is doable with little study...and NO final in her class!
Does a great job teaching a subject that can be very difficult. You'll do well on the essays if you back up your answers with good reasoning. Class discussion sometimes gets off-topic and emotional, but that's understable with ethics - just wish she had a little more control over the class.
Her class may be a little boring but i think it's a pretty easy class. she gives out really easy extra credit and drops a lot of quizes and homework at the end so they don't really count. I had an A even if i got a zero on the final.
OMG, she is one of the best teachers. She really loves what she is teaching and is good at it. She also challeges the way you think. Definitly take her!!!!!!!
she is very enthusiastic and get people to question what they value. pretty easy class just study for the midterm
she's enthusiastic and know's what she's talking about. It made the class more interesting. She makes it clear what she wants from you in the written tests. The class discussions were fun.
Norling is very nice and knows how to play both sides of the card, but always seems frazzled and lost. Plus she disagrees with anything you say when there is a group discussion.
Whether or not you love the professor depends on your politics. She's a devout leftist, and you know that from Day One. She does press her view on students, and takes a strong position from that vantage point. There was also a real lack of group activities. I think that would have helped the class experience.
Bio-ethics was seriously hella boring. This class needed more group work. She is clear and over all a very good ethics teacher. THe mid-term and final consisted of essay and mutil choice. She gives out the questions before hand and goes over everything . Book - don't buy
Great teacher. These classes tend to draw many hot girls; so that was a plus. The class was fairly easy. Much emphasis was placed on her notes. Read those and you'll be almost set; the rest is a bit from the book. She's quite forgiving on the essays. The final took 10 minutes.I barely read and got a 97% A
Easy class. Attendance is not required. 2 essays and 1 written interviews. There are only midterm and final. Midterm questions are handed out before the midterm. Her final is the easiest final I've taken in any class. Takes only 10 mins. Just study notes for final.
Professor Norling is good at what she does and knows it (unbiased teaching). She is excellent at sparking discussion and does show "her side" or her point of view. This is an excellent feature of a Philosophy teacher where opinions could make the class less desirable. I would recommend this professor to all my friends. "Good Night and Good Luck."
This class has its easy side and hard side....she is a good teacher....there is a essay format midterm that is the hard part of the class....there are two papers that are pretty easy and one moral interview that is fun to do....the final is multipul choice.....good class just study for midterm that will make or break you
I've only used the book for 1 sentence for the essay midterm. The rest of the class, I just used the notes she gives us. Even though she says attndance isnt mandatory, you should still go for notes. Do every EC she gives because there are very little points in the class. Also, there are no more interviews that the other reviewers are talking about.
Be ready to hear "Thought, comment, question?" a lot! I never liked coming to this class, maybe because of the timing (2-5:30pm). If you do take it, WRITE EVERYTHING DOWN, that she writes on the board or on the screen. IT IS ALL ON THE FINAL. Didn't really use my book, except when studying for the final. If you don't show up, you r going to fail!!
I agree with the last rater, you do need to attend class to pass. The midterm, which is an essay test, is the key to passing though. There is also 3 papers and the final, all of which you can receive an A on if you spend a minimal amount of time on. Pay a lot of attention to the first 8 weeks, and the rest is easy.
Attendance isn't "mandatory" after the first 8 wks. She doesn't ask much except for ppl to participate in class discussions. Don't whine about it if u don't like it. I think she's an easy prof. The midterm is very key to ur grade. I scored a C on it but As on all my other assignments & still earned an A in the class. The extra credit helped (5pts!)
Didn't use textbook. Go to the school library if you want- I didn't. Easy class to pass. Take down all the notes she gives. Tests from straight from them. Somewhat bias on grading your essays if she disagrees with your opinion especially political things - you will notice that with all the bashing on your paper. Overall good professor
I loved Prof. Norling. She is incredibly smart & really loves the subject. She can be dry & a little hard to follow, but is very helpful and witty. She is kooky & has a very intellectual sense of humor, which I really enjoyed. She is a great teacher.
One of the best professors I've had! This is the only class I look forward to.She makes the subject intriguing and provokes students to think outside the box. I don't understand why anyone would get the impression that she grades based upon her political stances, since she remained relatively unbiased in lectures. Plus her jokes are redonkulous!
I loved marcella! This was the only class i looked forward to. While i was usually ditching my other classes, i never skipped this class once. There are two essays, a moral interview, a mid-term that she gives u the questions to and a final. this is a great class to get involved in she likes it when you participate so share your opinions!
I liked this class because of its easiness, the grading is really fair and to my knowledge she hasn't bashed anyone's opinion in my class. If your arguments aren't valid or off-base, she will let you know, but that's what ethics is for! She was interesting and kooky, but it was kinda hard getting the info becuz of her methods. Helpful if you go in.
Good teacher, interesting topics and she gets you to interact and give your views, without her making fun. Easy class if you go and pay attention, also if you use the book it can help to clarify certain points if your unsure, shes also helpful if you have questions.
Prof. Norling is one of the best at OCC. She knows the subject and is really passionate about it. Her main teaching style revolves around showing interesting videos. Very fair (too fair if you ask me) grader. The entire class applauded the class on the last day.
Ms. Norling is a great teacher! Her class totally took me by suprise. She is impartial in her teaching which allows her students to discover how they truly feel about the subjects she presents. I learned more about myself in her class then I ever could have imagined. Show up! Her lectures are imperative to understanding the material.
Marcella Norling is rad. Shes a trekky and is hilarious and doesnt even try to be !
She is a wonderful woman. She always likes to play devil's advocate and really makes you think. Class participation was a blast and I had a lot of fun. As long as you write what she asks for, you'll get an A. The class is awesome and the rest of the Ethics teachers are not in her league. TAKE HER IF YOU CAN
Easy teacher but makes students uneasy to voice opinion. She is not objective like a professor should be. It is apparent where she stands and she has made numerous comments degrading certain beliefs. Will often ramble on about topics not related to the discussion.
She is an awesome teacher! Super funny. I would highly recommend her! Three papers, One mid-term and the final.
Although I have no real interest in the subject matter of the class, I still really enjoyed professor Norling's class. She's obviously intelligent, grades easy, and is funny without even trying. I would recommend her if you're not offended by her obvious liberal viewpoint.
Took her for Ethics. Overall very good. Lectures are crystal clear, highly entertaining class, you know exactly what is expected on tests. WARNING: Term papers are best kept simple. Points are deducted for replacing phrases such as "I think that ..." with nuanced opinion.
M.Norling is a very funny and intelligent professor! Her class are really entertaining, interesting, and quite easy! :)
Her grading is very subjective, her way or the high way. Make sure you understand what she is looking for on the subjects you write about, she markes everything down.
Definitely take this class if you have the opportunity. She entertains the class, makes you see different point of views, and is fairly easy! It was my favorite class of the semester!
haha i was in class when last poster got called on--while she was posting!! if she was paying attention she would know why prof laughed! class ok so far.
As much as philosophy drives me nuts, it's nice having Prof. Norling as the teacher. She is witty, down to earth and very clear on one concept: 5pts off for late papers if she'll take them. Just go to class and enjoy the lecture.
Very very very easy class. She is very opinionated and uses the classroom as a soap box. She did not teach the material in a way that I found interesting. The class was really frustrating, especially because of all the unintelligent remarks people make. horrible
Wonderful professor! She seems to really love talking about the topic. Wish I could take more classes with her! Doesn't require a lot of work, but there also aren't a lot of points available to get an A, so make sure to do well on the assignments and tests and you'll get an A.
I did not really need this class but i was interested in the subject matter. however, my expectations of this class fell very short.I honestly hated sitting through this class i would have been happier reading the text book on my own. for an ethics teacher she doesn't seem to have any morals.
Norling was a fantastic professor. She is sharp, witty, and imaginative. She knows how to keep your attention long enough to drill the information into your head, and her grading is more than fair. She will point out grammatical errors on papers but not deduct points, as she looks more for the illustration of concepts than grammatical perfection.
There are 3 quizes (drops the lowest score), (2) 2 page papers, a midterm and a final. I thought she was kind of silly at times (in a good way) very nice and I believe that she geniunely loves to teach/wants her students to do well. I felt that she graded appropriately I gave my best effort and I got an A in the class. Would recommend! Take her!
she shows really cool videos very philosophical so you feel like you are listening to a conversation from the matrix she is also very interesting
I loved this class. She is so fun and interesting to listen. I have a hard time paying attention in lectures however she keeps it alway interesting and so her lectures always seemed to be easy to remember. She is probably one of the best teachers at OCC. I am so glad that i took her class!
SO BORING! Nobody ever does the reading so the discussions are horrible. She forgets what she was saying every 2 seconds and is CONSTANTLY pausing to ask if we have any questions or comments. You barely learn anything this way. You could miss class for 2 weeks and probably still get an A if you actually do the reading
She is such an amazing teacher! I would recommend her to anyone any day. First off philosophy is not an easy subject but prof. Norling makes it seems like its a breeze. Her teaching style is simple and easy to understand. This class was seriously my best yet and believe me I'm not a nerd so if your a slacker like me take her!! You wont regret it
Awesome class! Teacher is very nice, clear, and caring. You have a few papers(all less than 2 pages), couple quizes and a final. Seriously one of my favorite classes! Take it!!
Norling is a really awesome teacher! She is extremely funny, and encourages you to use critical thinking skills and engage in debate over the course of the semester. I have learned so much in this class! It is also a very easy A. If you attend lectures and do nothing else, a B is still manageable. Take this class!!!
Although she is very unorganized and scatter brained at times, she is quite passionate about what she teaches. You'll have 3 papers, 3 quizzes, a mid-term and a final. If you read the chapters you'll get an A. She is very helpful as well. If you receive anything below an A, for your papers, she usually lets you re-do your paper.
Marcella is awesome! She is such a nice professor and actually makes ethics pretty interesting. The midterm is pretty easy if you study and the final isn't bad either. She's really helpful and allows you to turn in late work. Overall, one of my favorite professors. Take her class.
Incredibly boring professor, but her class is very easy. Went to the first five minutes of class every time and got an A on everything.
I loved this class! Norling is an incredible laid back professor! She lets you know by email what days shell be having quizzes so attendance isnt required and her tests are very straight forward if you reviewed the ppts she puts up on blackboard beforehand. Your grade is out of 300 points so every single point is crucial. REVIEW THE POWERPOINTS!
She makes class fun. Granted, the first 8 weeks are a challenge so read which will make the next 8 weeks easier. She tells you what will be on test and hands out detailed review sheet. 5 out 5
2 in-class "essays" doable. 4 reading quizzes, drops the lowest score; pretty easy. The midterm was a blue book exam & one of the easiest exams I've ever taken. Questions given in advance, just memorize the answers. The final was alright, make sure you read the book! I regret not reading it & only relied on PPT. Overall I got 91% w/ minimal effort
Fairly easy course. She is very funny, knows her stuff, but is pretty weird. Very interesting material and she taught it well. Ended up with over 98%.
She was very professional and interesting. One of my favorite teachers.
Great teacher! Awesome topics and you will learn about issues and learn about yoursel a bit more.
Took this last spring. Got and 99% in the class. I had no interest in philosophy whatsoever but she makes this subject really easy. A few easy papers to write. If you pay attention in class you will do well!
Easy class -- don't even have to show up for class. Attendance is only worth 5 points of the overall grade. Very minimal effort -- only for the midterm and final, both of which are off her powerpoints. Very helpful and kind. No homework outside of class. Easy A
Where do I begin? Great class. Learned a lot. It gets you thinking about social issues differently then you might normally. Most of the class is open discussion, which is nice to not have to sit through a lecture. Her midterm is 3 essay questions, which can be hard because they need to be detailed. The final was stupid easy though.
Pretty easy class, 4 assignments, a take home midterm and final. You will need to purchase the book for the midterm and final. Min of 2 pages on the assignments, the more detail the better. Anything past 2 pages is a guaranteed A. Class is pretty boring, lots of discussion, you don't really learn much. I stopped going the 2nd half of the semester.
Class was fun because we had many opened discussions; however, the teacher NEVER teach us what is the right thing to do according to ethics. Lack of patience(once she dropped her microphone towards the wall). Unable to listen and understand what a student wanted to say because she cut you off and put words in your mouth when she disagree with you.
A whole bunch of students rarely attended class, and I'm positive that most of them ended the semester with an A+. Class could have been super interesting, but students rarely read the book, so the discussions sucked. 4 quizzes, 1 written midterm which is a little tricky because you need to be detailed, and 1 MC final that is a piece of cake. Take.
Probably not for everyone, but I loved her class. Passionate, interesting and engaging. Prof. Norling does a great job of covering some provocative material. She shows up excited and ready for a lively discussion every class. Read the assigned material, it makes the class that much more enjoyable.
This is probably the class I will never take again. She is (in my opinion) boring and not a good listener. There are 2 in class writings and 1 written midterm, and if you don't follow her way of grading, she will give you a low score. The final is multiple choice so it will help you in someway.
By far one of the easiest class you can take at OCC. It's hard not to get an A in this class. All you have to do is just study a little about what she gives you for tests. We even get to choose our own topics on what to write for our test. Would highly recommend for easy A GE class
Interesting class & easy A though. The majority of the work is writing. Doesn't give clear grading criteria. Teaches from powerpoints & gives 4 reading quizzes which I don't think fit a philosophy class that should be full of discussion and analysis.
Easy class, I personally learned a lot. 4 quizzes, 3 writing assignments, response paper, midterm, and final. For the midterm, she gives you 10 studyguide ?s; 6 on the MT, you pick 3. The final is 50 questions based on 2nd half of sem. I got a 91 on the MT, 92 on the final. All you need to really study are in the PPs. Great teacher too.
Such an easy class. All she wants is to see you attend class, make a real effort, do the readings, and just participate by stating your opinion during discussions. To make it easy on yourself for the final/midterm take notes while reading, during her lectures, and on her powerpoints and you will get an A.
The class itself is fairly simple. Tests and quizzes are very reasonable. Do the work, and you'll get what u want. Good at teaching, not so well at moderating discussions (can get heated, depending on classmates)(slightly stubborn). Maturely handle urself in big class discussions. Make sure to speak up even if she seems to dismiss ur opinion. Seems
I love her class. Attendance is not mandatory since she also has it on powerpoint on blackboard, but I would recommend coming to her class since it's very interesting and mind opening. She makes you think about how we as an individual can better ourselves. You don't really need a book since you can google most of the articles online.
I thought she was very funny. If you show up and make an effort she will care to pass you. Participate in her class , it makes the time go by quicker and she really appreciates it.
This class is easy if you work for it. The material is interesting and class is fun because she is very interactive with the students, however it is a lot of information to retain and most likely you haven't learned it before. There are 4 quizzes (she drops the 2 lowest scores), 1 midterm and 1 final (very detailed study guide!) plus some papers.
Norling is interesting. She enjoys what she teaches. I didnt purchase the text and still got an A but i would rec. Getting the book to make it easier on yourself. She posts everything on blackboard (not book readings). She really appreciates you participating in discussions, makes it more fun anyway. Pretty liberal and opinionated but sweet woman.
Easiest A ever. She goes out of her way to help you get the grade you want. Final is multiple choice and way easier than the midterm. The quizzes are pretty easy and you get to drop your two lowest quiz grades.
Really enjoyed her class. One of the best teachers I've ever had. The class is pretty easy to get an A, though it does require at least some effort/reading. Though really, seemed like nobody ever really did the reading homework. Just go to class and listen, and you'll do fine. Such a funny, enjoyable person to be around.
I love Prof. Norling and her Phil 120/Ethics class. Passed this class with a 102%. Not much homework. There's 4 small quizzes on readings. She gives you midterm questions beforehand: answer those and memorize before exam. She goes over the Final before the exam. There are 2 papers, but are super super easy and straight-forward. Very kind professor!
Her class was pretty easy & simple. Her midterm was a FRQ but she gives you the possible questions beforehand. The final is MC and is 100% based on the study guide that she provides for you. The textbook isn't required, I barley opened it during the semester. Attendance isn't mandatory but the debates that happen in class are interesting to hear
I REALLY enjoyed this class. She's hilarious, and brings up good points. The class is an easy A as long as you show up to most of the classes. She drops your two lowest quiz scores, and she gives you study guides for the tests. If you need to take this class, she's an awesome teacher/ person.
this class is definitely a easy a. just read the book before the mid term and study the power points. She also gives study guides for the midterm and final which are if you study ! Not a hard class and Norling is very helpful you if you ask !
Professor Norling's Ethics class is a great class to take if you're interested in Philosophy. Her lectures are interesting and she can be funny and entertaining often, assignments aren't very heavy, attendance was not mandatory but you may miss out on important discussions. She's a straight forward grader and allows make-ups for some things.
Marcella is one of the best professors ive ever had, she is caring and goes out andbeyond her way to make sure you get a good grade and learn. She has lots of office hours and encourages everyone to visit her during the office hours, lots of extera credit :) I'll definetly take it again.
I love her lecture and her personality. I really enjoyed her class and was always looking forward to going to the class. Many people dropped her class, but I was sure they missed a real gem. If you studied hard as she suggested, you would definitely get A. I am an international student and that was the first semester, but got an A. Good class.
This class is an easy A if you put a little effort into it. Overall, this is a good class!
Norling is something else but i love her. she loves what shes doing and is very knowledgable in her field. loves to discuss with the class so particpate to make the class smoother but not mandatory. textbook is good to use but she explains everything you need to know in lectures. you can make up some exams and assignments. gives you test questions.
She really knows and loves what she is doing. She loves when people participate and gives a lot of info during class. Quizzes are from texts from textbook so you should buy/rent it. Midterm+final, 2 papers, 4 quizzes and in class writings. Only thing I didnt like was that you have to write the exact words she wants to read or she takes off points.
Norling is going to make sure that you won't regret giving her a chance to teach you. She is one of the best professors here at OCC. She tries her best to bring as many interesting topics as she can for you guys to discuss. Her quizzes, writings in class, exams ... are straight forwards and everything is doable. Just show up and you'll be fine.
350 characters aren't enough to emphasize how much I like Prof Norling! She is INCREDIBLY knowledgable, caring, witty, and genuinely cares for her students. I was a Political Science major prior to taking her Ethics class, and now I've changed my major to Philosophy. I can confidently say I looked forward to her lectures! Would rate her 100/5
Prof. Norling is one of the best at OCC. Her lectures are great and she encourages discussion. She's funny, witty, caring, and really knows her stuff--not to mention that she's got the patience of a saint. Two tests make up the bulk of the grade, but she gives you study guides to help.
Professor Norling is an angel put on earth to enlighten the students of OCC. She encourages creativity and openness in the class and it makes everyone feel like they are truly becoming better people. She has wonderful patience and knows how to analyze things logically without giving away her opinion. I enjoyed her laid-back class very much.
great teacher. Gives great perspective into things
super nice lady, her lectures are simple and so are her exams. such an easy A
(Intersession 2019)You start the class with the theories and later get into topics such as same-sex marriage, abortion, economics, and embryonic stem cell research. I personally think the midterm (based on theory) is harder than the final (topics). Class discussions might strike nerves for some ppl. I recommend taking this class. Shes good professor
Prof. Norling is really funny. She keeps up with current events & culture but in an organic way. This class was clearly broken down for us in the grading rubric & she's a generous grader as long as you specify your points clearly in your writing. She lets us all engage in discussion which can get heated, but otherwise is pretty fun.
I took this class over intersession and got an high A (100%). Great teaching style and lectures from professor Norling. Also get ready to read and critically think about current events. This class is an easy A like any other if you put in a little bit of effort and study. Good luck.
She understands the concepts of Ethics very well. Teaching style lacks; power points and readings. Discussions take place in class, works hard to get students engaged. Dislike her grading criteria, grades on memorization not understanding the concepts. Very bias politically and socially and it shows, not an ideal quality for a philosophy professor.
You have to work hard for your grade. Shes a really nice, caring professor and if you communicate with her youll be able to do greatly in class. Shes nice when it comes to quizzes and tests, shell let you take them in other classes if you were too sick to make it to your own class.
If you're planing to take Ethics at OCC, don't look any further, you've just found your professor.
Great Professor, I would like to take her class again, but unfortunately is is retiring by the end of Spring 2019. she was one of those professors where you really need to take. getting an A was easy for as long as you did the reading and did the study guides. she has had a great career teaching, I hope she has fun in retirement.
