she's OK
Bitter Woman. Very judgemental.
Very incompetent professor!First of all she doesn't even know how to use a computer. Her notes are very confusing and incomplete, and she complicates everything from lectures to notes to assignments etc.I find her to be very rude, lazy and limited in her knowledge. No wonder so many students are failing her class
Very bitter and rude prof. Always found a way to make you feel like an idiot...wasn't very supportive and very snobby...
Read out of powerpoint. Do not provide note until end of lecture. Class average, test#1-60%, test#2-63%. Not helpful at all. Lecture is useless. study on own would be more useful. Worst prof ever. hard course + hard teacher = bad choice.
Worst prof I've ever had!
Awesome teacher. Her tests are not difficult as long as you study the material. :)
Marcia Brown is an excellent professor. One of the few who has the capacity to teach in the program. She's tough, consistent and fair. I recommend her as a teacher.
....study or die :(
This one be one of your heaviest courses. Speeds through notes by saying one word on the slide. Will need to heavily supplement with the textbook. She will test on details so you'll have to study, study, and study!
I had my 3rd semester clinicals with her. she is tough, force you to learn everything about the patient. She loves when you take intiatives, when you know your stuff. she credits good students and give plenty of oppertunities to learn. one of the best clinical teacher. she will fail you if you take it easy. she is great!!!
This is one of the best professors I'd had so far because she is knowledgeable and very organized. Her ptt slides are amazing. A few students share them with friends in other sections. She is always very professionally dressed. I admire that. Great professor!

very knowledgeable and helpful professor! Now that I am at York University, I realized how caring and proactive she was. The students that took Marcia's 402 class know a lot more about writing and research than some of the other students. She actually taught us APA. Her feedback from written work is amazing!
By far, Marcia is the most knowledgeable and caring teacher I had in my two years at Seneca. She values academic integrity and upholds it in her dealings with students. Now that I am at York, I appreciate all that I have learned from her in NRS402. Compare to some of my classmates, I am way ahead in writing and clinical application. Excellent!
Marcia is an excellent SLE facilitator.I learnd so much, not just in the simlab but also in APA. She actually sat with me to discussed errors in my SLE reflection. She tells stories that helped us to learn how to think critically in patient care. I would have liked to have her in clinical. Highly effective as a sim facilitator.
Marcia was my prof for pharmacology. She was tough but she actually care about us passing. In my group, a few uf us were struggling and she actually form a teaching session with about 5 students for two extra hours per week. She made us sign a plan with our goals and strategies to achieve them. Awsome teacher!
I did not really appreciate the knowledge and expertise of this professor until I get to york university. She gave lots of feedback on my scholarly paper. I did not get my usual "A" in her class but I sure did learn. I had it much easier at York University because she taught me how to write well, using APA. Marcia rocks!
Thank God for this professor. She is confident, clear and decisive and also smart. I learned a lot about medication and also about myself. She is ery professional in her behaviour towards students. Marcia was the best teacher who taught in the nursing program!
Marcia was also my teacher in simulation lab. This was an amazing experience for me. Marica made simulation fun while we learn how to respond to clients with changing health status. I was so nervous when I was nurse one but I hope I will know as much as this caring teacher and nurse one day. She is definitely my role model.
pharmacology is a tough subject. Marcia made it interesting. She's awesome! she makes me want to be the best nurse ever...she said if you practice by the golden rule, you cannot go wrong. Treat your patients the way you would want to be treated. Marcia not only teaches pharmacology, she teaches students about life. Extremely generous with her time.
I just had my simulation experience with Marcia as the facilitator. She was amazing! I learned so much in 2 days. I was so nervous when I was primary nurse but she made me laugh at myself afterwards. She made learning FUN!
I agree! Marcia is AWESOME! One of the few professors in the nursing program who really cares about student learning. She cares about the program and the nursing profession. Approacheable! kind too. I want to be a nurse and teacher just like her.
I had her for Sim Lab and she was amazing. However, in a classroom setting she lacks teaching skills. All she does is seperate us in groups and makes us do case studies with no lecture. Puts students down for answering questions wrong, should stick to clinical settings where she is excellent
Marcia is AWESOME! She is not easy but very helpful.I learned a lot beyond pharmacology.
Professor Brown is great! I had her in sim lab and I learned more in 2 days with her than I learned in almost two years of nursing so far. Her examples and stories made it easier for me to GET IT! I made a lot of mistakes when I was primary nurse in senario 2, but the debriefing session was an eye opener. Excellent teacher!
Saying that Marcia does not know how to teach because she puts us into groups to do case studies is a cruel thing to say about competent teacher who promotes clinical application and critical thinking. I have only missed one class so far and I have never heard a put down comment from her. Be truthful! Practice the golden rule like she says.
Semester 3 has been the hardest since I started nursing. Marcia has been very supportive outside of class. I expect my final grade to be just a pass, but I credit her for that. She inspires me to achieve better! She was like a mentor who understands my struggles. I am grateful to have had her as a teacher. Very smart lady.
Great professor - very respectful to students. She has a sense of humour, yet serious about expectations. The course as tough but I enjoyed it....
one of the BEST teachers. I was so lucky to have her for pharm & simlab. Absolutely fantastic, I learned SO much-all relevant information u need to know. Her teaching is clear and straight forward. She's a true expert in her field. Very approachable and cares about your learning. Lectures are interesting, engaging and she has a sense of humour.
very classy, respectful and funny without trying to be. I personally learned a lot in pharmacology/math as well as simlab. She was AWESOME in simulation! She asked, "what kind of nurse do you want to be?" I definitely want to be a nurse like her: caring, kind, knowledgeable, confident and down-to-earth! She was my favourite professor. VERY FAIR!
As a teacher... OKAY at best, but as a person, she is awesome! Doesn't take things too seriously and is personable, funny, helpful, and understanding.
She was awsome in simlab. Learned a lot. Things finally clicked for me. Debriefing sessions...AMAZING
Great teacher! Approachable and make time for students. Kind but definitely not a pushover. Tough course but I learned.
I like this class. At first I was worried because she seems so strict. Some one asked her to change a test date and she brought it to the class and ask for vote. All but one was in favour of the change. In one class I had before, the professor would not even consider a date change to prevent us doing 2 tests on the same day. This professor is cool!
Very professional and organized. I personally like that.
Yes, she is organized, very clear about expectations and super respectful. Quite nice actually.
I learned a lot in simlab with this professor. I came out wondering how I can ever reach that level of expertise. She is realistic, down-to-earth and funny. Our group had a lot of fun learning, even though we all made mistakes. Thank you Marcia.
I had simlab with Marcia and I learned a lot. She is very funny in a serious sort of way. I have never laughed so hard over my own stupidity. I like the stories she tells to help us understand the significance of knowing. I could listen to her all day. Very wise teacher. I felt like I was in Life 101.
Not a great teacher. Extremely hard and is prone to favoritism. Neglects the ones she doesn't like.
Marcia is a good professor, I find. She cares about us learning something, not just getting marks. Certainly not easy but absolutely fair. Has no favourites in my class. I enjoy her honesty and humour.
If you are interested in learning, take her course. If you are looking for an easy A, you may be disappointed. My best learning experience so far. Too bad I could not have her for the whole semester. I miss her subtle humour. Very caring professor.
I just started 304 with this professor. I am surprised to read the poor comments made. This person must be confusing her with another professor. Marcia is amazing She is very helpful and is quite clear about expectations. I did well on my first dosage calculations quiz. There was no surprise. We had great practice in class. She is super organized
This professor is the best. If you attend class regularly you will learn. This is a tough subject and she made it more understandable. Very consistent, organized and approachable. Tests are FAIR but not easy. I am having her again in 4th semester.
Go to class because she knows you by name pretty well and takes the attendance thing kinda seriously. Doesn't really expand much on the powerpoints except read off them, but you will be quite well off for the test just on most of her notes. She makes them quite clear
She is one of the best teachers I have had for semester 3. She is very clear and emphasizes important information that will be on her tests. Her exams are really clear so she does not answer questions during exams. Slideshows and case studies are very clear and easy to follow along and a great study guide. Oh and "repetition enhances learning"
I had Marcia in simlab a few weeks ago. After my two days of participating in patient care scenarios and debriefing, I left there thinking "I want to be like her." I learned so much more than expected! I had fun even though I made mistakes. A subtle sense of humour. I went back to clinical with a purpose-to learn to be of service to my patients.
Marcia is a really helpful teacher who cares a lot about all her students. Her notes are detailed enough that you don't really need to read the textbook (unless you don't understand some things). Her tests are straight forward and she provides a lot of practice questions so you master everything. Loved her!
Rude, and gives attitude for no reason.
Switch out. If you have her, you must read the book. Favourtism to the ones who go to class. Super rude and condescending. Good luck
She may come off as intimidating at first, but she is an amazing professor, especially when compared to the NUR301 team! She is open to respond questions in class, as long as they are not something OBVIOUSLY from your reading. I can totally see that her focus is to help her students pass the pharmacology course and actually retain the knowledge
her lectures are not helpful at all. you have to read the textbook.
She is a great professor who really makes this semi-boring class a lot more interesting. All her lectures are crystal clear and engaging. I feel like she not only teaches you about the course content but about how to succeed as a student/future nurse. Her tests are long though (midterm was like 90 questions - it felt like a final exam).
Marcia is the worst prof ive ever encountered. Very condescending and rude. She wants you to fail.
Marcia gives the hardest tests and she is not nice. I was a 4.0 student before this class. Thanks a lot!
This class was awful, she does not teach at all. She expects you to get 80% and above and if you don't she'll make you feel bad about yourself. Her tests are all specific medication based as she treats you like a pharmacist, even though at the beginning she said "you only need to know the classifications, you don't need to know any specific meds."
Overall, Marcia is a pretty good prof. Her group assignments are an easy if all embers participate. If you get a group you are not happy with EMAIL HER RIGHT AWAY because you will all be stuck with the same grade. Her midterm was tricky, make sure you know all the specifics including numbers. For example, how many RN's are in Ontario.
This was by fat the worst professor I have ever had. She has no clue how to teach. I am an A-A+ student and this class has ruined my GPA. If you have an option between her and Cindy, TAKE CINDY! Marcia is a nice person overall and does want the best for her students, and she is very knowledgable about the course but she has no idea how to LECTURE.
Marcia Brown is the worst teacher you can ever imagine. She is rude, accuses you of anything you didn't do. She targets you. Manipulates you. Her goal is to make you fail no matter what. If you try to stand up to her, not only will she insult you, your beliefs, the way you talk but also she will threaten you. Drop her class immediately.
pretty sure the class average at the moment is under 65% or just slightly above that with the exam being this week.. That should tell you enough
Marcia is probably the worst teacher I have had in my entire life. First of all she is rude to students she doesnt like. Shes not helpful. She will read only like 5/90 slides and expect you to know everything in even more detail. She will mark an answer as wrong if she doesnt like exactly how you did it, no part marks. The list goes on, trust me
Many people complain about Marcia Brown but shes honestly not that bad. She has dry sense of humor which not many people understand or find funny and she marks hard. However, she's nice and willing to help if you talk to her.
this professor was unreasonably tough. It was only my first semester of nursing school and she was acting like it was 3rd year or something. She says attendance isn't mandatory but she takes attendance every class and she uses that to determine if students deserve a 1-2% boost. if you get her i recommend you switch bc many ppl failed.
Unclear grading criteria. RUDE. Don't bother asking for feedback on assignments, you will be referred back to the unclear rubric. Screams and yells at you if you make a mistake. I hate this class because of her.
Professor Brown would make sarcastic remarks out of annoyance when students asked questions. Projects and assigments often had unclear guidelines and when asking for clarification, she would simply refer us back to the unclear rubric. This class gave me multilpe headaches.
She was constantly yelling and ruined the enthusiasm i had before joining her class
Marcia is honestly not a good prof. She does not answer emails, gets frustrated very easily and will change how to submit assignments the day of or not be clear about them. Overall, if you can avoid her as a prof you should.
Run. Run away as fast as you can. She berates students with an extremely unprofessional attitude. Her demeaning behaviour towards students is unbearable. Everyone is so scared to even open their mouth in class. She was frustrated the minute our first class started. Her attitude makes everyone hate the course. Do yourself a favour and change class.
Marcia was disrespectful, unprofessional, didn't care about her students, gave attitude in every class, was no help to anyone, we couldn't send her emails or ask questions without getting yelled at, her rubrics were sloppy and changed multiple times throughout the assignment process, and her lectures were boring. Overall, DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!
On the first day of NUR102, I had an instant feeling I was going to regret taking Marcia. My first impression of her made me really scared. She's very hard to understand and not very approachable. Her markings are fair, but please take this as a sign and avoid her. I'm doing you a favour!!
She gave out 0s for people submitting a real time assignment 16 minutes late even though the BScN handbook says one day late means 5% off. Her tests are long and she gives a lot of work per week and only goes through one slide during lectures. She is rude and told us on the last lecture "I hope not to see you again." Do not take her.
Marcia does not like answering peoples questions, she gets visibly upset when people ask her more questions for clarity. She retaliated after someone reported her and yelled at the whole class for it. I'd say she was a fair marker, but she gave a few students zeros on fully completed work. Def don't recommend if you want to pass.
To be honest, she isn't that bad. A lot of people made her sound really scary but she isn't the worst prof ever. She may not be the most approachable person however, her marking was fair. She didn't respond to emails and she didn't really like to answer questions if a student needed help. Her midterm was hella long as well.
Marcia isn't a bad professor as people make her out to be. Her marking is fair and willing to change your mark if you make a solid case. She goes over the assignment for what she expects pretty well. She can be pretty unapproachable when you have a question, but if you READ the assigned readings and show up, you'll be good. Exams/mid are long. GL!
Marcia is a great prof but she will make you work for it. She can tell when you haven't been keeping up with the readings and will call you on it as her lectures are very interactive. If you give her the opportunity and put in the effort, you will gain a lot from Marcia and this course.
Prof Brown was amazing in one on one's, if you're having any issue just build a rapport with her. She helped me understand the material and expectations extremely well, I really recommend taking the time to book. I feel like people read these comments and come into the class already made up about her? Just be respectful and you're good.
She was honestly a good prof. She's not as bad as people make her seem. You just have to put in the work, do the readings, and make study notes. Try to stay on top of the readings because there is a lot. She is a pretty fair marker and if you follow the rubric you will get a good mark.
Shes fair. She may not teach every single thing on slides but she does care about her students success. Attend her lectures she talks about important things that are probably on your test. Work hard for pharmacology and she will see it and so will you on test/assignment grades! Overall good professor
Reading PPT's are a must if you want to pass, read the textbook if you get the chance, lectures are useless. Grades completely based on the rubric. Doesn't have a good attitude but if you read and what's on the rubric you'll get a fair grade. If you don't like your mark she'll give you a chance to petition your case, and she might change the grade.
You're NUR304 is the hardest course in 3rd semester. do yourself a favour and don't take it with Marcia! Her lectures are useless, she only reads from PPTS, her tests are HEAVY and requires you to know every single detail about each drug! Her personality is not bad and she wants the best for her students but she makes it so hard to pass
Test is very heavy and you have to know your stuff to pass! Practice dosage calculations A LOT because you dont have much time on tests to think for that. Her questions are all fair if you read the book and attend lectures. Things on her ppt that are highlighted are important! Overall, She isnt bad because 304 is a hard course in general
Listen, shes def not a ray of sunshine and she can be very rude, however if you do the work and you go through the readings, you'll be fine. I have to hand it to her, her rubrics are crystal clear and if you do what she asked, you'll pass. She's meh, not too good not too bad.
She can be scary, or intimidating, or make you feel stupid too. Course content however is straight forward and easy to learn. But probably better to get a grade higher from another professor. Definitely not worth the stress. The tests can be easy if you study thoroughly. Good luck!
If you are good at math and read all 50 slides before class you'll be fine but if not good luck because you'll get to class and she will assume everyone understands and won't go over the lesson because "it's straightforward". It is barely even a class, you teach yourself and hope you get the 80 you need to pass.
It's either she isn't grounded in what she's teaching or she's just not interested in teaching. No in between. She reads off slides like AI. She is interested in seeing students miserable and failing. If you can avoid her in your entire nursing in seneca, good for you.
Marcia gets a bad reputation but she is a good professor. She runs her way class in a certain way and some students find her demeanour to be mean but she is a nice lady who will help you if you use her resources. To pass just read your slides ahead of time and follow her instructions she is a fair grader and her classes are easy to pass.
Professor Brown is very nice and helpful, and she gives fair grades. If you have any problem, she will guide you in the best way. Attendance is not mandatory, but it is better to attend the class. Be sure to read the professor's slides from the first semester. Slides are important for the final exam.
Professor Brown is genuinely nice. She always points out what is important to remember and tries to make things easier for students like she's the only professor doing review with students at the end of class. She's not the person who wants to see her students failing. I would def take her class again if possible.
Not interested in the success of her students. inconsistent with instruction. her demeanour towards others is aggressive.
Marcia is nice 1-1, in person she is confusing, she doesn't explain any complex questions, then puts them on the test/quizzes. She gets very defensive when students ask questions, she makes the person feel silly for asking the question in the first place. you need to self study a lot of this class .
