TOUGH!!! IF (and that's a BIG if) you are able to pass her class with a B or better, rest assured you will be an EXPERT in the field of anatomy. Excellent teacher who teaches her students how to be excellent learners!!
The only thing nice about this class was Woolsey's backside!
Professor Woolsey is very helpful and tries to make the material easy to understand. She is very easy-going and cheerful.
she is very knowledgable, and very hard. I do not have anything negative about her way of teaching. She prepares the student for post graduate schools and the real world of medicin. If you pass her class with a good gread A or B, then you know that you are really a hard core estudie
She knows the material well. She is helpful too. But her Lab Tests are generally hard. You have to really study hard in her class. But she will prepare you for the science field, especially Nursing.
Inspirational teacher. Expert in her field, smiles all the time, very demanding, very helpful. You'll learn more than you want, but it ends up being helpful in later nursing classes. She does daily quizzes, but it forces you to keep up, rewards you for attendance, and helps dilute the weight of lecture exams. Don't take this class with Chem 306.
STAY AWAY FROM THIS TEACHER!!

If you're a friggin' genius, then you should have no trouble at all in this class.
If you study for her tests then you will do fine, all you have to do is study what she gives you in class. The lab tests are not bad if you study, but the lecture exams are pretty hard. She is a good teacher though.
If you're one of her favorites you should pass with a B...
She is hard but she is the best. At least she does not lose your papers. I toke biology 430 with Dr Woosley. Because, she was hard I toke Biol 431 with other teacher. But, my biol 431 teacher lost some of my papers. So, I did not get any grade for some thing that I finished. In my opinion, Dr Woosley is the best Biology teacher.
Verry hard and very disorganized. Tests are extremely hard.
She is very hard, tough tests!
Her exams are very hard!!! She expects you to know alot about everything. I'm sure if you have no life and study that you would pass with a B or C though. It is nearly impossible to get an A in her class.
She is very unorganized and talks and scribbles notes way to fast- its hard to listen and take notes at the sane time. If she really likes you, you might have a chance. In one of her classes this semester only 5 students are passing right now.
She is a good teacher, as long as you study the notes and lab syllabus you will do okay. To get an A you have to work really really hard.
She knows EVERYTHING about the human body and makes it seem like it's simple. This is not an easy class but I will take her for 431 as well. The notes she gives you (which are abundant) are all she will test you on.
do not take this class, there are so many good bio teachers like torrano or l. smith that you will actually be able to understand and can get an a in. oh, and are better to look at.
Very hard teacher take a different teacher for 430 and 431 it will make your life easier.. trust me this class is very, very hard and everyone in class felt the same way!! Run!!!!!!!
If you are serious about learning and want a great teacher, take Woolsey's class. I can't believe some of the other reviews that complain she is so difficult. This isn't high school anymore...suck it up and actually put some effort into school. A&P is an inherently hard subject, that is why you should learn from one of the best.
She is a wonderful person however a hard teacher. I took her for 430 and I am taking a different teacher for 431 and have realized that her teaching style is very auditory, Listen carefully and get a recorder! She knows her stuff however if you are not able to learn from a lecture you will struggle. Read all the exam questions carefully.
She is disorganized and doesn't know what she is doing have the time. She does not stay on one topic during lecture and then says but we will talk about that later. She does not offer you anything to help you study for the exams and the lab tests are horribly difficult. She grades on spelling.
Im a straight A student, but not in this class. She is nice but very hard. I think she thinks we want to be doctors.
Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(
The worst teacher- very unorganized with lecture and with materials. Not helpful, just awful of 35 students in my class 13 finished and only 6 finished with a c or better....
She is a nice person, but a horrible teacher. She is the absent-minded professor. She has a doctorate in biology, so there is no denying how intelligent she is. I recommend you not take this class, unless you like a teacher that focuses of the physiology rather than the anatomy. You must be able to teach yourself if you take this class.
She is very organized and helpful teacher. She also explains the concepts very well but it's up to you to go over the material more often. All the questions on her tests are from her lectures so pay attention even a joke can be a question in her test. Tests are hard if you don't study DUHH its A&P. She does mark you off if you mis-spell. Take her she is AWSOME :)
Dr. Woolsey is a nice lady but not organized at all. There are no study guides, lab tests are fill ins only, and questions on the tests are confusing. Some x-credit. Only 16 passed, 4 with A's. She self diagnoses so she won't talk about those diseases & even cried during class about her kids. Don't take the class if you actually need to pass.
I have heard that NURSING classes are 10 (or even more) times harder than Dr Woosley’s biology 430 and 431 classes. So if you want to be a nurse please take her class and make yourself ready for the nursing courses. Nurses need to save people’s life, right? How they want to be a critical thinkers when they cannot learn the basic anatomy and physiol
I completely disagree with what other people are saying about this teacher. I took her in fall 07 and really liked her as a teacher. Yes she is hard but the subject is a lot harder!! She offers tons of extra cred. I managed to get an A in her class and so can anyone else. She is fair and organized. Just be focused and STUDY STUDY STUDY HARD.
She is a very very intelligent professor, she knows her stuff but it will also take hard work for your part to get a good grade in this class and understand the material. I actually enjoyed her class because she actually challenged me.
Wonderful teacher! Fair, organized, knows her stuff inside and out, quizzes almost daily, hands out lecture notes and lab notes, uses study guide and practice exams, no blackboard, very little email correspondence. Study, study and you will do fine!
VERY HARD TEACHER. DO NOT EVEN DREAM OF TAKING HER UNLESS YOU KNOW EVERY DETAIL OF BIOLOGY BY HEART. HER CLASS IS ALWAYS EMPTY AND IT IS IMPOSSSSSSSSSSSIBLE TO GET AN A IN HER CLASS NO MATTER HOW HARD YOU WORK.
Professor was hard. Had quizzes almost daily and not much lab work at all. Lectures the whole class period almost. If you stay ontop of your work and quizzes and manage to do ok on your tests you should do ok. but STUDY! STUDY! if you want a good grade!!
This professor rocks! She is extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and interested in truly teaching!
WOW! let me just say im happy this class is over!!! i had marcie for both 430 and 431, i got a B both semesters but i worked so hard! dont plan on taking the class if you dont have time! test are VERY hard! Lab quizes you either know it or you dont! She prepares you for the nursing program! cares for her students! she is my favorite teacher so far!
wow im just glad this class is over!! she is a wonderful teacher!--but very hard!!! if you dont have time to study dont bother taking the class! she prepares you for what the nursing program will be like! she cares for her students, and offers over 1000 points in the class so even if you dont do well on test you can still get a good grade
Don't take her. Makes it way harder then it needs to be. Gives a lecture test and a lab test the same day as if one isn't enough. Gives a lot of tests and homework. The first day of class she gave us an assignment due on the first day and no one even knew how to do it. More than half my classed dropped. take it with someone else!!!!!!
This class is hard regardless of the professor. Marcie is awesome. Great teacher, great person. I am definitly taking her for 430. She hands out packets with all of the lecture notes for every single unit...VERY HELPFUL.HARD CLASS but great teacher!
PhD level A&P Prof. who used to teach to medical students. Demands that you know A&P. If you are willing to do the work there is rarely a questions about a&P she can not answer, and will go out of her way to help if you ask. Excited about the material, but expect a long wait for bathroom breaks.
Loved her!! Everyone told me she was SO HARD but really, sh'es alright. My life didn't have to revolve around this class to get a good grade, like with some other bio profs. She is very knowlegeble. I think her class is easy because of the way she explains the information. She makes it stick in your head with her examples. She's great!!
Great teacher, always appy and smiling, brightened my days! A wonderdul teacher full of knowledge and she just wants to help her studenst understand! I would definitely take her again. Go Woolsey!!! Loved her class! Definitely take her for A&P. The people who say she's really hard, they just want to pass without doing anything. She's great!
Very nice but ridiculously hard. She gives lab & lec test on same day, lots of histology on lab all fill in the blanks & spelling counts. Im an A student who studied for this class all the time and got a B :( She does not teach at a intro level - the only students who got A's in her class had medical exp. Lec test are extremly hard, & long 100+que
Dr. Woolsey is AMAZING. She is brilliant and she wants all her students to do well. If you pay attention in class and go to every class you do not have to read the book to get an A in her class. She gives your lecture handouts and just add to her notes and you will do fine. She offers a lot of extra credit. Best teacher I've ever had!! A+++
Great professor! She's VERY tough and definitely doesnt teach at an entry level, you really have to study hard and stay on top of lectures or its easy to fall behind. However, she offers a lot of extra credit and is VERY good at answering questions. Very tough professor, but would definitely recommend her.She taught me how really study for a class!
Great prof! Tries to make a difficult subject as easy as possible. she's amazing!
not a big fan of her. gives us notes but she's all over the place. doesnt help out with questions. she tests more in depth than she teaches. there are worse teachers, but there are also better teachers. you have to work your butt off for this class. literally. but it gets you ready for later. she doesnt make anatomy more understandable though.
She is hard! Cant miss class there is a quiz or HW due every day. Manditory comprehensive final. 1/2 the class dropped. Her Lecture notes often have mistakes & she expects you to know everything in them and tests on stuff she said even if she did not write it down. Good luck. She does offer extra credit, do it, you'll need it. USE YOUR IP CD!
She is really hard. I am not just saying that because the class is hard already. She goes really fast and is all over the place. She provides you with notes but then has 30 page powerpoint slide she uses for lecture. Tests are very hard and it is confusing to actually know what to study. I would not suggest taking her, but she is a nice lady.
For anyone who says she's a hard teacher, why did you take this class then? A&P is supposed to be a hard class. Professor Woolsey is such a nice lady and you can tell she really loves the subject she teaches. Just keep up with the textbook reading and you will get A's on your exams. Use the online resources as well! Like practice quizzes, etc.
Dr Woolsey is an excellent professor, took her 431 class Fall 2010 and her stories are hilarious. She is very helpful and will take the time to help you understand, she can be hard to follow but if you record lectures and listen to them or write them out you should be able to get an A or high B in her class. I just wished I had taken her for 430 a
Professor Woolsey is an AWESOME teacher. She is only has hard as she is on students to MAKE them learn. She is extremely smart and knows her stuff. I would never have chosen another A&P teacher over her. If you want to learn something and your willing to do the work, take her!
I would not recommend her (although I've heard Dr. Carter is even harder). I've got an A, but spent the most time for this class compared to my other UPPER division BIO & CHEM classes. She's unclear with her pronounciation of anatomical terms, speaks them and goes over them too quickly to be able to understand what she's talking about.
this class will kick your butt if you don't work hard. It's sooooo exhausting and sometimes you get a lot of material thrown at you in an hour and a half and its easy to think that you have the whole semester but you don't because her tests are by far the hardest I've ever seen.
This teacher is fantastic. Take good notes, and learn them. Use flash cards on everything, know the material and you will get an A. She tells you exactly what your going to get tested on. If you cant get an A in this class you don't belong in healthcare. It only gets harder folks.
Lectures fast paced, reading before lec is VERY helpful. Hands out packet-like notes that are condense version of lec. Literally draws out lectures, so take picture with phone so that one can focus on what she's saying. Requires more than memorization skills...crit thinking!!! Tests reflect this. Extra credit available. always willing to help!
Professor Woolsey is hard, but that is the nature of the subject. She has her doctorate in Philology so she can get crazy detailed, but her tests are less detailed than her lectures. She gives out note packets for every unit, and each packet has an old test ext. She is hard, and she knows it, but you have plenty of chances to pass with a good grade
Woolsey is by far the hardest proffesor you will ever have in arc. She is very smart so she knows everything you ask her but she focuses more on physio than anything else. She doesnt waste a min, works fast pace and does not skip anything. SHe does not go by book mostly by lecture notes. HEr exams are very hard i dont reccomend her.
Her class is very hard, She gives lab & lecture tests on same day as if one test isnt enought, lab tests are all fill in the blanks & spelling counts. it's true that She does not teach at a intro level if you already medical exp you will do good but if not avoid this teacher.
Not only is she very knowledgeable about the subject, but very helpful as well. She gives out packets of lecture notes which are then used for the exams. The material is extensive, but if your career involves this subject, it should be a breeze.
Dr. Woolsey is an incredible professor. She knows the material and can convey it in a manner that any student should understand. This course is not intended to be easy but if you're taking this class you wouldn't expect it to be. I highly recommend Dr. Woolsey to anyone needing anything she is teaching.
Nice Prof, very knowledgeable, but exams are EXTREMELY difficult. Goes into further detail than other Prof. AP is difficult class, but her exams are hardcore. Fast lectures don't prep you enough for exam, some info is not in book. Group presentation + 5 page paper due. Last 2 days of class 2 major exam and 2 finals, all during finals week. Brutal!
Recommend for those w med. experience. Yes, I know A&P is hard is general but her lack of organization made the class especially hard. Had a hard time knowing how or what to study. Exams are ridiculously hard. She is always willing to help and knows what she's talking about though.
Do you want to understand A&P and be able to know the WHY behind the WHAT? Take Professor Woolsey, but you WILL have to work for the A. Want an easy A but not really learn anything? Then you want Won. Woolsey's class has made nursing school at CSUS so much easier, or at least it s for me compared to my peers. Take her if you want to LEARN!
Marcie is amazing! Definitely knows her stuff. But this class is HARD. Her lecture exams test your knowledge extensively. Lab is mainly identification but she likes to throw function in there. Be prepared to study EVERY DAY. 4 lecture and 4 lab exams and 1 non-cumulative final, 10 lab quizzes and LOTS of online hw and quizzes nearly every week.
Tests are really hard and very in depth. take my advice and take a different teacher for this class it will make your life so much easier!!!
Dr. Woolsey knows her stuff. She is the hardest instructor I have ever taken but well worth the hard work. Form a study group and put in the time. She is very helpful and cares for the students. I would not take any other difficult or time consuming class while taking this instructor. Will take her for other Biology classes if I can.
excellent professor. a tons of extra credits (100 points out of 1700 totals). she curved too. Easy A
SHE GETS U READY FOR NURSING SCHOOL (OR, MED SCHOOL ETC....). AND, THATS ALL THAT MATTERS,,,
Biology is not easy! Don't expect an easy A. She is clear and straight forward. Gives out power point print outs and lab pakets. Its A LOT OF STUDY MATERIAL! She goes above and beyond to make sure students understand concept. Allows questions and discussion. *What really helped me was reading the book and material on d2l prior to lecture.
I had her for 431 and I wish I would have had her for 430! She gives plenty of extra credit and online quizes, which she keeps open for a week and allows you to take multiple times! Plenty of practice material and study notes given to you! Practice identifications online! A&P is a difficult subject, Woolsey does her best to help you understand!
Extremely HARD! Don't take any other class when taking this teacher! She thinks that life revolves around this class only. On the 1st day she mentioned that she is tough but is preparing you for the future! Uses med term during her lectures so learn it before taking her. Need to keep up with lectures and reading. Good luck if taking this professor!
Dr. Woolsey is one of the best. She knows A&P and is gifted with the ability to make it interesting. Her class material is very well laid out and she has lots of materials to make taking notes and studying easier. She will help you to be well prepared for your career in the medical field.
Woolsey Bio431 Spring13 on youtube, her lectures are there. Watch them BEFORE class. Record your own, and follow along. ALL of the information you need to know, she will say it during lecture. Study, and ask questions. She prepares you for the healthcare field. She makes the material understandable. Wish I had her for 430 too. Extra Credit- do it!
Attendance is mandatory, quiz every week. Exams are VERY DETAILED. I am a strict 4.0 student & this class gave me my first B+ it was difficult/ overwhelming. She posts slides online which u need bc she talks so fast so u have to teach urself. She is nice if u go to office hours she will be more helpful. ignores ur hand/ questions during lecture!!
Currently in Nursing school in an ABSN program and I am SO thankful I had Woolsey for AP. Don't be scared to take her and work hard in her class. Strive for that A and put in the work, as a nursing student you will be THANKFUL. Prepare for class by reviewing prior to her lecture. Her lectures are on Youtube, listen before you go! She's awesome!
Dr. Woosley knows her material hands down, however she lectures to the class as if you already know the anatomy. She does not stop to ask the class if they have any questions. Theres quizzes due every end of the week, do not rely on google to help you to find the answers. Take good notes and seek out for additional help!
Bio 25 is hard alone but with Woolsey its definitely much tougher. She definitely prepares you for which ever medical career you will embark on. Her exams are difficult and you have to work much harder if you want to have an A in her class. If you're up for the challenge then go for it!
Best bio professor ever. There is 5 lec and lab exams. Online quizzes every week. Online lab reports. She offers plenty of extra credit throughout semester. And opens up online weekly quizzes at the end of semester for second attempt. She also offer optional comprehensive final exam and switch its grade with lowest lec exam.
Extremely lecture heavy. Tests you on what she talks about, not what is in the book. No need to purchase the book. Study from her packets, record her lectures and rewatch them (they're also on YouTube), complete the study objectives, and go to Friday lab. I received an A but I don't recommend her because she makes it unnecessarily difficult.
This class was extremely hard at first but once you get the hang of how Professor Woosley runs her class, it'll be smooth. Her lectures are prerecorded. No homework but TONS of quizzes. She is a smart doctor and knows her stuff. She offers extra credits. If you watch her lecture videos and take notes, you'll do fine.
Don't do it. Really. Content is confusing as she makes SO many mistakes on recorded lectures. Plus her technology gets messed up during videos and you have no idea what she said. Over explains and confuses you more than anything else. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS.
Dr. Woolsey is one of the greatest professors I have had at ARC. She is very passionate about teaching and has a lot of real life experience. Her exams are based heavily on the lecture videos, so the books aren't needed unless you need more information about a topic. I had some medical concerns during the semester and she was very accommodating.
Get ready to study like you have never studied before. Everything she says matters in the lectures and be prepared to see it on tests! I was struggling to keep up towards the end due to the overload of material. I learned a lot from her and am thankful. I am glad I did not drop and rode it out.
