Newer, decent professor that is knowledgeable about his material. Good lecturer, homework was reasonable and quizzes/exams were fair. Hosted problem solving sessions that allowed for good refresher of topics to ensure understanding. Patient and responsive with communication.
A new professor who is teaching relatively simple topics but does not know how to present lectures. Never shows any work and goes extremely fast in lectures so you don't have time to write anything down. Half of the lecture slides posted do not show work when you go back to look at the material. He does review sessions and asks for feedback.
A great professor!! He is very responsive and helpful when you have questions. A very fair grader and the problem-solving sessions were extremely helpful. The exams are easy if you study the homework and in-class examples. He is super nice and understanding and also tries hard to engage the class during lecture. I definitely recommend.
Homework is not easy, but going to office hours and asking for help will get you the grade you want. At least attempt the problems before going to office hours, he is not as helpful if you have no work written. Tests: Problems are straight out of the homework and lecture examples, and you get a cheat sheet on his tests.
Dr. Iskander was great for ECEN215, he really wanted everyone to succeed and was very helpful and accessible during office hours. He grades fairly and prepared everyone adequately for exams. Would highly recommend!
Goated Prof.
Truly one of the kindest professors at this university! He was extremely accommodating during my medical emergency and met with me numerous times outside of class to help me catch up. He wants everyone to succeed and gears his lectures towards the needs of students. The class is tough, but Dr.Iskander works just as hard with you! Great prof :)!
By far one of the best professors I have ever taken at A&M. He responds to emails quickly and is very open to having office hours by appointment. He genuinely cares about his students, if you put the work into the class, he will put the work into making sure you understand the material.
There is a schedule in this course for the due dates, but it took me almost the whole semester to get used to bc there is a lot due constantly. The Zybook readings are extremely helpful and several HW questions are taken directly from there. He's a fair grader and the homeworks translate well to the kinds of questions that will be on the exams.
Professor Iskander is a great teacher. Everything you need to succeed is given in his lectures so showing up and paying attention is majority of the class. Homework's can be lengthy but extremely helpful for exams or quizzes. Would definitely take him again!
Great professor. I felt a bit iffy taking him since he was new to teaching 214. But I'm glad I did. Lectures were engaging and you can tell he genuinely cares for his students. The course is structured to be intensive, so don't expect to breeze through. However, if you put in the effort and study, you will do well with this professor.
He makes this class pretty straightforward. Do the weekly homeworks assignments and ask for help when needed. The quizzes and tests are almost copy paste from the homeworks and lecture material and handouts. Labs are not too bad.
Dr. Iskander made ECEN 214 a very fair and understandable course by giving generous tests, which were similar in content to previous homework and quiz problems and also by makling lectures easy to follow - he's a great speaker and knows his material well. Furthermore, he gave opportunities throughout the semester to recoup from poor test grates.
Professor Iskander's lectures were very detailed and always provided methods on how to solve the topic that was presented. He frequently asks questions in class to ensure that most if not all students understood the material before proceeding. I highly recommend taking professor Iskander's class.
Not necessarily an easy class, but Iskander clearly cares about his students learning the material and doing well. Usually assigns an online quiz the week before the test that is extremely similar to the test in material, and the homework is also similar to the test. If you put in effort he definitely gives the resources to succeed.
My favorite thing about Iskander is that all of his assignments, regardless of their complexity, are meaningful and will help you succeed on exams. His lectures are engaging and he makes sure to cover all import topics at least once. Iskander is the best option for 214 by far! Do not miss any assignments, study, attend class, and you will get an A.
You could tell he was a newer professor; he changed grading/deadlines for a few assignments after grading was posted/deadlines passed which was frustrating. All in all though, his class was well organized and his lectures were clear. He is welcoming and helpful in office hours. If you go to class and do the assignments, you'll be fine.
One of my favorite professors at A&M! He truly cares so much about his students and wants to ensure that they succeed. The class is tough but he is definitely the professor to take for the course. Just work hard and you will be rewarded for your efforts. Sweet guy for sure
One of the best professors I've had. The course is well-structured and easy to keep up with, his lectures are very clear, and he is great at answering questions. The workload can be hefty with weekly labs, Zybook readings, and homework, but that is to be expected from any 214 class. Prof. Iskander turned a difficult class into one of my favorites.
Good at assigning useful homework - complete the assignments & readings and you will succeed.
Dr. Iskander is literally one of the best professors you will ever take! Cares so much about his students! One week we had so much hw due for this class and other classes he decided to move the due date for the hw that week back a couple of days so we didn't have to stress! You will still have to work, but Iskander wants to see you succeed!
Professor Iskander is one of the best profs I have had. He truly cares about the success of his students. His lectures are well-organized and keep students engaged. Exams are fairly easy if you review homeworks and quizzes. He explains difficult material in a simplified manner and makes lecture interesting. I would highly recommend him.
Dr. Iskander is perhaps the best professor I have taken a class with at Texas A&M. His course is extremely well organized, and not once did I feel lost, despite this being a fairly difficult course overall. His lectures are clear and his review lectures before exams make a huge difference. Overall, I would highly recommend taking his class.
This is a hard class, but this professor does everything in his power to get the whole class the highest average possible. He respects the struggle and is very helpful, very flexible.
I think if you are willing to work, this class is easy to get an A in. Dr.Marco has review classes before each exam which do a good job outlining the material needed. Exams are not cumulative and if you make a good review sheet they should be no problem. Labs were challenging at times, but most were easy if the prelab was done properly beforehand.
Professor Iskander is one of the best ECEN lectures I have had so far. He is incredibly knowledgeable in EE. His lectures and semester curriculum should win an award. He genuinely wants every student to get the highest grade possible. If you want to actually learn something about ECEN 214, then you will want to take Iskander.
Professor Iskander is one of my personal favorite instructors within the ECEN curriculum. His personality influences the lectures by making them more interesting, while also being very knowledgeable about the material. He's a professor that genuinely cares about the success of the student. Taking him was a breath of fresh air. Highly recommended.
This professor is one of the best I've had. Their lectures are engaging and effective, helping you really understand the material. Tests are fair and easy if you do the homework's, and you get a cheat sheet. Also there's no final, just three midterms which helps. Highly recommend taking this prof!
While the course itself was not an easy one, Professor Iskander is very clear about what needs to be revised and what sources are more or less useful for exams. He is also very open to giving additional explanations and doesn't try to complicate or harden material just for the sake of it.
Usually I don't post reviews, but when I do it's for good reason, and my experience with Professor Iskander was amazing. His lectures are easy to follow, and the homeworks are very doable. The tests and quizzes are also very reasonable, and he doesn't throw curveballs. The "cheatsheet" he allows you to make is also really helpful. Overall 10/10!
This course takes a lot of work, but if you actually do it, getting a good grade is no problem. People will start to fall asleep during the 2nd half of the lecture, but this is where all the important information is actually put out on how to solve problems, so this is the part to be awake and pay attention for.
Great professor! helped the class understand more difficult concepts like 2nd order circuits, op amps and imaginary concepts.
He is a pretty good lecturer. He also provides lots of resources outside of the lectures, which was very helpful. He genuinely wants to help you succeed not just in the class, but also in your future career, and he isn't out to make things difficult just for the sake of making things difficult.
Excellent instructor. Very thorough teaching style; he would cover a single topic on many different occasions. I would 100% take any of his classes again.
Listened to student feedback after first exam had low average, made next 2 exams extremely reasonable. Has best notes/handouts of any 214 professor this semester. Provides lots of examples, though homework is pretty tough and aren't always covered in class. Did curve the class grade and the first exam. You can tell that he actually cares.
Professor Iskander was excellent at teaching 322. He made the material enjoyable to learn and frequently encouraged participation. He seems to actually enjoy teaching and actually got me more interested in electromagnetism than I expected. I definitely plan on taking him again in the future.
Wonderful professor! Content gets harder toward the end, so make sure get high grades on exam 1&2 and quizzes. Attendance not mandatory but lectures are helpful if you struggled in phys207. Labs are every two weeks with randomly assigned partner (same one for all labs) grades are loose
Despite the redundantly heavy loads of homework (consisting of Zybooks and re-takeable 'quiz' homeworks), Dr. Iskander is the best ECEN215 prof. Labs are graded lightly, quizzes and exams are extremely similar to the homeworks and review sessions, and he tells you exactly how many questions are on the exam, what they're over, etc.
Professor Iskander wants his students to succeed, which is why he posts the lecture slides on Canvas for students to reference. He wants his students to ask questions so he can clarify anything that might be confusing. If you're engaged in class, professor Iskander's ECEN 322 course is very doable, and was my favorite lecture of the semester.
Professor Marco is one of the best professors I have taken so far. His lectures give you exactly what you need to succeed in the class. This class does cover topics that are a bit hard to wrap your head around so it is important that you keep up to date with the lectures and practice. Tests are very fair and straight forward if you keep up.
The best ECEN professor by far. Does everything he can to help students succeed. Puts all his lecture slides on canvas and is very clear on what you will be tested on. Attend lecture and use all resources given and this is an enjoyable class.
Marco was great, can't recommend him enough
Highly recommend taking ECEN 322 with Prof. Iskander. Lectures were very informative and insightful due to his teaching style, and made learning the material a lot easier than if you were to take the class with anyone else. Don't skip lectures as there are several instances of participation assignments that are handed out during class.
I've had 2 classes with Dr. Iskander: ECEN 214 and 322, and they seem to follow a similar trend: start off difficult, then slowly get easier and easier. The only thing is that the classes with him tend to be a little bit unpredictable, and the format of things often change, but the upside is that every time a change happens, it's for the better.
Ecen 322 with professor Iskander was informative, interesting, and straight forward. Everything needed for the exams was provided on canvas, and anyone who studies well should expect to get an A. I highly recommend.
He was a great prof who displayed passion and interest in his lectures and provided you with several chances to succeed. There were however egregious amounts of busy work type hws every week, often accounting for more time in a week than all my other classes combined, but they were again easy yet tedious.
I took him for ecen 314. Easiest class alive not even kidding. Take time to do the homework and memorize the patterns to use them on exams and quizzes. If you just sit and do the homework, which is like once every week or two. You are literally set for an easy A.
Best 214 prof you could take. Lectures are straight-forward and structured well enough to succeed in his class. Exams are reasonable and in-line with lectures and homeworks. Homeworks sometimes may be challenging but good practice for his exams. Overall, a caring and down to earth professor that shows a genuine interest in what he does.
The homework is simple and reasonable, and another nice fact is that they're basically the exams. Gives a nice amount of extra credit too. He's definitely passionate about the subject, and it's clear that he cares about your learning experience. The lectures are helpful, so you'll want to attend them all so you understand how to do everything.
Overall, he is a decent lecturer. Promotes learning on your own which is frustrating if you are stuck on how to do a problem. Class is easy until fourier series (which is after exam 1). The HWs aren't bad and you get 5 attempts. The tests and quizzes were EXACTLY like the HWs (so just memorize answers, no time to actually work out problems).
The 2 exams in the class are exactly the same as the questions from the homework and quizzes so as long as you copied the answers on your cheat sheet, you were guaranteed an A. His lectures simplify the concepts in this course which makes the course easy to understand. He cares about his students and made some lectures online around midterms.
322 is hard classbut Iskander helps you out a lot and tries to make it easy. His homeworks are really tough but doable. His exams are literally problems from the homework and the quizzes.
goated
Prof. Marco is incredible. Just by his lectures, you can tell he is passionate that you do not just learn the material but also understand what is going on. The exams are somewhat similar to his notes so understand them. He wants the class to get involved so say the answer out loud when he wants to hear it. 5-star prof, would take again.
Prof Iskander is easily the best ecen prof I've taken. He is very understanding and has a good structure and organized lectures/notes. The homework can be annoying but they help prepare you for the exam. He's clear on what will/won't be on the exam, know how to do the homework and the exams will be a breeze.
Prof Iskander is awesome. He really cares about his students and does his best to help you learn and be successful in the course. He makes it really easy to get an A and understand what he teaches. Overall he is super caring and one of the best profs I've ever had.
Professor Iskander is awesome! He cares a lot about making sure everyone understands the material and the exams are reflective of the material covered. As long as you put in the effort, you will get an A.
Marco is such a passionate professor that cares about signals and systems, and he makes it his mission to help each student understand and digest the material. If you do his assignments and go to his office hours, he will gladly help you! He wants everyone to succeed and be interested in signals and systems/filters. Such a great professor!
Excellent lectures, assignments were forgiving and effective at reinforcing content, and the exams exactly paralleled the assignments, although expectations for attendance were inconsistent. Participation assignment grading was fairly arbitrary, but that's from the TA's. Highly recommend, made everything much easier to understand and apply.
Prof clearly cares about subject and students. He gives good feedback and he gets student engagement in lectures. Pay attention in lecture and do all quizzes and homeworks and you should be fine. He does give some long homeworks but many of them are only a few questions and most of them, he gives you the answers to check youself. goated ecen prof.
Hard course becomes easier. You only have to understand the lectures to do the homework. Lectures are good and he is open to questions or clarifications during lecture. Exams also reflect your assigments. There are some Matlab assignments.
Lowkey light work. Didn't have to study for exams since he has a homework assignment right before that acts as studying. Also, he sounds like gru
Great Prof, very understanding and has clear guidelines on how to do well in his class. Gives extra assignments so your grade isn't 100% dependent on exams, and exams are totally based on homework. Provides extra notes on hard concepts. Also lets students bring a page note sheet to the exams. 10/10, I absolutely recommend!!!
Very easy class to get an A if you: - Attend every lecture and annotate the slides. MANY homework problems have answers only addressed verbally in lecture, and you will NOT FIND THEM ON THE SLIDES! - The exam content pulls from the exact same question bank as quizzes and homeworks. Study these hard w/ friends who got different homework versions.
While the course's concepts are a bit difficult to learn at first, Iskander makes the content very easy to understand despite his accent. There is no final exam, but the two midterms are very doable as long as you attend lectures regularly and keep up with the homework and participation assignments. Overall, cannot recommend enough for this course.
Professor Iskander clearly cares for his students' learning. That said, he assigns a lot of work. Weekly homework and "participation" assignments graded for accuracy. Attendance is not required but occasionally had in class participation. Exams pulled straight from homework problems. Anyone willing to put in the work (easy but a lot) can do well.
This professor is great and amazing! I would totally recommend this class that I would take his class all over again. Excellent!
Simply amazing professor. If I had the chance to take the class again, I would!! Definitely worth the wait to sign up at midnight for his class
He is great professor
He has very strong foundation. He made engineering courses simpler.
Amazing lecturer
Amazing teacher who truly cares about students
Marco Iskander is an outstanding educator who is passionate, knowledgeable, and dedicated to student success. Their teaching is clear and engaging, and they always go the extra mile to ensure everyone understands the material. I highly recommend their classes to anyone looking for an enriching learning experience!
Professor Iskander is a great Professor who explains things clearly and makes class interesting. Even though attendance wasn't required, I didn't want to miss his lectures because they were so helpful and engaging. He's always open to questions and makes learning easy and enjoyable.
Prof. Iskander is the GOAT. He cares that you not just learn, but understand the conceptial ideas. And then he gives you examples of using those ideas through the homework. 5/5, would take again.
Iskander was pretty good when it came to teaching the material, conveying concepts clearly and clarifying anything if anyone found a topic kind of confusing. In all honesty, taking this class with him has made me a lot more interested in the RF and Microwave specialization so yeah, he might be the goat. Just watch out for the heavy workload.
I loved him he is supper cool and exams not too hard there from homework and lectures so study those and get a easy A or B overall awesome class and experience with him.
Dr. Iskander is a great professor and very nice. His lectures are well-paced, easy to understand, and the homeworks, quizzes, and exams are all based on them. The SystemVue assignments are not too difficult and can be completed within a couple days if you have stayed up to date on the content.
Despite being the first time in a while the course was taught, Dr. Iskander did a phenomenal job organizing the class and explaining the material. I enjoyed how he would incorporate examples from real products and the emphasis on engineering tradeoffs when designing products, which was especially evident in the final project. Definitely recommend
Marco Iskander's microwave and wireless communications class was amazing! He taught with real-world industry focus, like we were engineers at Apple or Nvidia. The course balanced theory with practical tradeoffs and optimization, which directly helped me land a job offer at the FAA. Highly recommend taking him!
I have taken three of Dr. Iskander's classes: ECEN 214, ECEN 322, and ECEN 480. Each one has been amazing. His teaching style is straightforward and pretty similar across classes. In ECEN 480, he covers both theoretical concepts as well as practical applications and tradeoffs. Because of this course, I have excelled in an RF Engineering internship.
Great guy, loves what he teaches and loves teaching; does his best to ensure everyone understands what he's teaching and gives out numerous opportunities for extra credit. Low time commitment for the most part, easy tests if you just do the practice and review past assignments.
Took what should be one of the hardest ECEN courses and made it the easiest class ever. He teaches you what actually matters & is very straightforward. He's kind & really cares that you truly learn. Class is HWs heavy and requires a lot of time but I think it's one of the reasons ppl excel in his class. Exams are pretty similar to HWs. I RECOMMEND!
My glorious king. This class was probably the lightest ECEN course I've ever taken. His lectures are very clear and informative, giving you everything you need to do the homework, and subsequently, the exams (which are literally the homework questions). Allowed one note sheet front and back for the exams too.
In a world full of Robert Balogs and Aydin Karsilayans, be a Marco Iskander. This guy is seriously the best prof in the ECEN department and wish other profs would be as caring as him. He made the class very interesting and now I want to pursue RF. Workload might be slightly high, but the assignments are relatively straight forward.
He's like if Lebron and Messi had a baby and then that kid taught 322 & 314.
Marco could never be the problem, only you could be.
Lots of homework problems and participation assignments assigned throughout the semester, but they were great preparation for the exams (the exact same as the homework problems). It's still a lot tho (70 question exams) but he gives you a cheat sheet so it's pretty manageable. Just redo the homeworks and you'll do great on the exams.
I would say if you want an easy A, then take him. But if you want to learn "Everything" take someone else as he doesn't cover all the materials like other prof. His tests are pretty similar to his homeworks and quizzes. His homeworks are pretty easy. He doesn't record his lecture so GO TO CLASS.
For some,322 was their hardest class of the semester. For those with Marco, we were wrapped up with a pretty straightforward A a month before final exams. He is an excellent teacher, makes the content interesting, understandable, and while there is a lot of participation/HW assignments, they are meant to help you practice. Best prof ive had in ECEN
