Be prepared for pain
Makes kids learn concepts on their own, but freindly
Uncompromising in his quality control. Really pushes his students.
Smart guy, but doesn't really 'teach'. His courses are heavily reliant on independent study. Which should mean that he shouldn't take attendance!! Generally cranky too.
The man definitely knows his stuff; but he's no teacher. You stand to learn quite a bit if you can hang in there. Suffice to say, if you can survive his intro class, you probably didn't need to take it.
He's smart, but he shouldn't be teaching. If the course was called "Scheme", then it would be ok. He likes to ridicule and down talk the students, so be careful. He's a good guy, but too smart for his own good.
Tough on students and limited on help
The man is brilliant and makes you work hard with a purpose. We should all have more professors like him. Definitely take his courses and be ready to work and learn.
Smartest at the Hall. I could not have imagined getting through this without his toughness. His visulization makes this 'swallowing nails' of a course palatable. He knows, he cares and he shows it. Prepare yourself for an odyssey of the mind u will enjoy.
Very biased. If he doesn't like you, he'll grade you that way, no matter how well you did.
It always helps if he likes you. Which means if your smart and you do your work and try not to be an ass then you will do good. If your looking for an easy class, I don't think his classes are that bad compared to others. Doesn't help too much outside of c
Any course you take w/Marco will be one that you'll come out knowing more than if you took the class with another prof. Some say he's difficult and bias, but all you need to do is show interest and effort. He's willing to help, but he's not going to hold your hand, be prepared to study if theory/concepts do not come easy to you. He's not going to teach you how to program in a language, he's going to teach you the concepts, teaching students the syntax of the language is not worth his time or your money.
i don't know how he is as a computer science teacher, but let me tell you that he does NOT do justice to math. his office hours are actually just 50 minutes twice a week, which is kind of ridiculous. he talks down to his students and make them feel like they should already know what he's talking about. dont take him for math. not a plus!
DO NOT TAKE HIM. He was absent the first 3 classes and then he rushed through the material trying to make up for lost time. We ended up with 3 days at the end of the semester for "review" and he taught nothing. Quizzes are impossible, 9 kids withdrew, 5 failed and 2 passed. He rushes material and never responds to emails. Avoid him at all costs.
i don't know how he is as a comp sci teacher but he can't teach this class. he would skip steps when doing example problems and the quizzes were ridiculously hard. half the class withdrew after the midterm. overall very unclear and rushed through tough material. aviod him if you can.
Marco is not an easy teacher. He isnt very clear, and he often assumes that you understand what he's talking about and just goes on without you. He's a decent guy though, and gives a pretty massive curve (a 55 is a C). He's always late to office hours so you only get like 15 minutes with him. You'll probably get between a C and a B.
He's terrible. He acts likt the material is so easy and he moves too fast. New chapter taught every day. Quizzes are 2 questions, guaranteed F on them. He never answers email either. Stay the hell away from him.
Worst comp sci prof in the A&S dept, avoid at all cost. He is not interested in teaching the class or not capable. No help, he shows favoritism, he is always late, and the work that he assigns he doesn’t explain. His classes are a waste of time and money. Guaranteed failing or low grade. Your college experience will be better without his classes.
Don't listen to what anyone below me has said!! First off the material is hard its not his teaching. All tests and quizes are straight from the notes for the most part so study them and u should be fine. However if u dont do the homework to practice ur ****ed and guess what thats ur own fault. Hes a cool teacher that u you can talk to. He curv
he uses power points and goes thru them really fast-like a chapter/day. he makes comments about ur score if u get a bad grade on a test or quiz (and my whole class is basically failing), he keeps saying things to students in class like 'so how was tutoring' if he knows theyre doing badly. dont take him .. class is really boring too. hes annoying
Smart guy. Material is really hard so its not the teacher. He helps a lot and the curve is amazing. You learn more in his class than other quant methods teachers so id suggest taking Marco.
A tough class was made clear by Marco. He has worked hard to make the material comprehensible -- his power point presentation is a super plus and super clear. Many have complained about him, but it is probably due to lack of effort on their part. Work hard and you will do well given that he has a generous curve.
Worst teacher i've had so far at SHU. I've yet to meet a person who hasn't failed his class..ppl say class is hard not him, but i talked to ppl who dropped his class and loved the next teacher and actually passed. Also, he b*tches a lot about his bad ratings on this site. hehehe
This teacher is a plus & a minus. He only shows you things once in class and does not review them again. He dont like to repeat himself. If you missed class then you will have to catch up on your own. I compared what he taught in class to what he put on the his tests & they are different. You will have a hard time remembering info in his class.
By far the worst proffesor at shu.an incompetent math teacher..do NOT Take him..I am usually good at math but this guy makes it impossible..
Out of every curse, there can be a blessing. I actually failed this course. Wasn't happy about it because I never get F's on my report card but there is a first for verything. I don't believe the a Computer Science professor should be teaching Math and that is the case here. He is great for what he teaches, just not math!
This professor is the most inconsiderate teacher I have ever had. He does not care if the entire class fails... i think he enjoys seeing people fail. He does not teach well and is the most critical grader I have ever experienced. Do not take him, take a May intercession if you have to trust me.
It is advisable to not take this professor if possible. Was helpful in algebra section of class but gave up when we discussed calculus topics. Generally picks one or two favorite students and turns condescending towards the balance of the class. Inflates grades with humongous curves in order to prevent the majority from failing.
AVOID THIS TEACHER! It's almost impossible to do well in this class no matter how much you study. I have never received a low grade in my life until I took this class. All T or F exams/quizzes. He's VERY picky & WILL give 0 credit even if you answer parts of a question correctly. The tutor even told me I'll fail upon finding out who my teacher is.
Very difficult class. When he gives 100 homework problems in one night, do all of them! He teaches everything from powerpoint and will not share the slides afterwards. Take notes, don't miss class and ask questions when you don't understand something. You will need to work very hard in this class to get a decent grade.
I really do not believe there could have been a worse teacher for this class. He does not really prepare his students for the material on his tests. The information is fairly simple for the statistics class I am taking with him, but he focuses on things which are often not very relevant to the chapters we are studing or obscure. Drop him on day one
He often reviews himself
He is the worst teacher in the world AVOID, AVOID, AVOID I cannot stress this enough. He takes off sooo many points and loves to give out F's you can explain most of your answer right but hell take off about 10 points if you get something wrong. I wish i never took this class. It will mess up you GPA tremdously and prob will hsve to repeat.
Most ridiculous class ever. How can a math teacher teach math if he stays in his seat all class? He is rude and disrespectful to his students and the work is extremely difficult. Do not take this class with this professor!!
Take notes! Review them! Try to pay attention in class. He has a arrogant attitude but grades fairly. Tests are different than your normal tests. If you review your notes and read the book outside of class you should do alright.
Awful teacher had him frosh year killed my gpa. Doesn't teach points to slides and hopes you get it. Pretty big jerk as well take anyway else. Re took stats without a problem with another teacher he sucks.
This class is not one to doze off in. great professor however you have to pay attention and actually THINK. unlike most other professors he doesn't THINK for you. if applying definitions is too difficult for you, dont take this class. take Prof. Morazan if you plan on learning not if you're looking for an easy grade!!
Do not take this professor's class(s). You will regret it.
He just reads off the slides. Do not take him at all costs. I worked my ass off for a C+. The quizes I studied least for were the ones I did best on. Just DO NOT TAKE, trust me!
Please dnt take this prof.He is awful.
One of the best professor, I had so far. He goes into the depth of the topic and make you feel comforatable with it. If you really want to learn computer science, do take this professor. You need to work hard. You will end up with good grades.
Decent lectures mostly derived straight from the textbook. Sometimes text is clearer. Never grades homework (this is bad, feedback would be very helpful, he doesn't seem to care to put in the grading effort). Bright & personable, occasionally arrogant. Doesn't post his lecture slides due to an ill conceived notion it would help fraternities cheat.
he is awful, seriously he never lectured. he just read off slides. don't take his class. don't waste your time.
A pretty nice guy, but his class is very difficult. He seems a bit stern, but if you go to him for help, he will help you with class material. You will do fine if you are willing to work, it is college after all.
The class is challenging; however, it is manageable. The amount of time you put into this class is what you will get out of it. If you are lost or confused, he is available outside of class in his office hours. He is really helpful in answering questions and resolving and confusion a student may have. :)
Cool guy. Hard class.
Marco is a great Professor. Most say that his class is extremely hard; others say that it is easy. If you pay attention, take notes, and reference your in-class notes to the textbook occasionally there is no reason why you should not end up with an A in the class. He makes huge curves for test scores. I got an A and I've always struggled with math
The greatest professor&mentor that I ever encountered at Seton Hall. Encourages students to think critically and solve problems. He provides you with all the "tools" you need to pass. Just show up, pay attention, take notes, and study study study. The only way to fail is to not pull your half of the work
This guy is SO tough. Do NOT take him, I repeat DO NOT take him. Tough grader, does not help you when you go to him, and will NOT answer any questions. Just reads from slides, doesn't post them online for help, and is not cooperative for students. He's terrible. I heed you not to take him.
What a terrible professor. IS not remotely down to Earth and truly believes that stats is the most practical and necessary thing in the world. All he is is biased. If you are a cute girl, you get an A. If you are anyone else, you have to work for a B/C. I'm surprised no one has reported him for that yet. The only good part is when he stands up. lol
Horrible professor, very arrogant and has not clue how to teach.
This class and professor can be tough, but to pass just make you really read the text book and ASK QUESTIONS! If you still need help, I suggest going to his office hours. He's a cool guy that's willing to help you. Don't wait too long to ask for help, or else you'll get lost.
Imagine an online class that has a reader in the background of a classroom and thats his class. He is horrible in answering questions so if you are confused, about an answer he has to your question, he will move on and ask for anymore questions but you won't have any because you're still confused from the previous material. Pretty bad teacher
The best of the best, just take the class if you are willing to learn computer science which means effort effort effort, practice practice practice. He is extremely talented. You will not regret it :)
Hardest classes I've ever had in my life. If you're not going for a CompSci degree, no point in taking his class. Teaches every class in Racket from Intro to Automata. Teaches you how to think using recursion and gives ample time for homework, you'll need it. Start the exams immediately and be ready for sleepless nights working on them.
All he does is read off of the already made PowerPoints. If you ask him a question, he usually responds with a question in a judgmental tone. You're going to have to basically go to tutoring in order to actually learn. Almost all of your grades are from group projects.
He's really hard, dont take it if ur lazy and have no life. If u r not smart or u dont have a smart friend, ur done. If u dont have smart friend, pretend smart people r ur friend Find someone who is smart, trust me. They will eat food w/ u so u feel less stupid. Marco makes me lose sleep at night but its ok, because smart people help.
It's clear that he knows his stuff and cares about the students in class. He re-explains things that students don't understand and makes sure everything we learn is crystal clear. If you do your homework, you should be fine. After all, in order to program well, you have to do a lot of programming.
After taking his course I can say that the course is difficult, but if you go to tutoring and apply your self to the homework you can definitely pass his course. Also do well on the group projects as they are an easy A. He is not like other professors, if you do poorly he will not hesitate to give you a zero on an exam.
I really liked this class. He lectures from his slides. The beginning of the course went super fast with him throwing new content then towards the end he slows down. If you don't understand the material find a smart friend and do every project with them. NEVER cheat in his class, he kicked some girl out of comp sci for cheating. GO TO TUTORING
If you pay attention in class, program a little bit everyday, and ask him questions, you'll be fine. If you don't get something, ask because he doesn't bite and wants everything to be crystal clear for you! Lots of group projects, so make sure you go to tutoring as well since he's a pretty tough grader. Very good lectures though!
Did not like this class at all. Truly I could not follow a single thing that he said the entire semester.
The worst professor/teacher I have ever had in my life. DO NOT TAKE HIM. I was forced to take him as he's the only professor I can take in my major and I still felt like I made a mistake. If you make a mistake on a quiz, he instantly gives you an F. For classes, he just reads off powerpoints and doesn't know how to answer questions. STAY AWAY.
Dr. Morazan is a very respectable man. His course was very difficult for me, as I wasn't prepared properly. If you are interested in a degree in Computer Science he is for sure, without question the professor you should take for this course.
This professor is not helpful and it is very easy to fall behind in this class. Would not recommend if you have other options.
Dr. Morazan can be your worst enemy if you let him. He expects you to put in an insane amount of effort to even pass, let alone get an A. This class and all of his others are some of the most hard-fought B's I've ever gotten in my life. If you do pay attention and seriously try to learn the information, you'll get much better as a programmer.
I took this class a few years ago; run the other direction. Horrible instructor. He only favors the girls in the class. Don't take on the unnecessary stress, find another professor.
If your a cs student then I'd take Marco whenever you get the chance. He isn't the easiest nor the most approachable professor but he knows his stuff and him being tough will only make you a better programmer. Be prepared to go to tutoring since he will give extra credit if you go. Make sure to get a project group where everyone works too
Worst professor I have ever had the displeasure of taking. Course is a void filled with sadness and despair. Avoid if possible
This professor is very unprofessional and makes inappropriate comments. He doesn't have any solid grading rubric, its just up to how he feels how well you did. If you have to take him don't do anything to get on his bad side. If you don't have to take him don't EVER consider his class. If you are a women though you should do great in his class!
Morazan is one of the worst professors I have ever had the displeasure of taking. His grading structure is incredibly inconsistent. My only guess to how he grades is how close your solution was to his. It doesn't matter if your solution is more efficient than his, if it isn't done exactly the way he does it, it's a C at best.
Professor Morazan is possibly the worst teacher I have ever come across. He grades based on feeling, only reads slides, and has an unlikable personality. In the seven classes of his I have taken so far, we have gone through nearly 600 slides, keep in mind that each class is only an hour and fifteen minutes twice a week. Avoid him at all costs.
Horrendous professor, spends the entire semester pressing a button and reading off slides, no coding is done in class, terrible personality and grades you solely based on how well you conform to HIS style of coding. Avoid at all costs. If you're a girl you'll do great, though!
Morazan is probably my second least favorite professor at this college, second to Dr. Snow. He is not an educator of anything more than to push sales of his books and is missing for sometimes weeks at a time. Forced partner projects where your partner will ghost you second week because the class is too hard. Avoid at all costs.
Yea "always bulking" professor is horrible. He doesn't teach, there are times where he isn't even in class for a while can just makes the TA's teach. He just wants us to buy his book. Also all projects are with partners, and they will ghost you after like the 5th week, so this class and all of Marcos classes are must avoids.
If you're not a CS major, I would recommend avoiding him if you can, as its unnecessary strain to put on a non CS major. If youre a CS major, he's one of your better options; He's tough on grading and a bit OD with deviating from his specific solution, but if you want to be challenged a as programmer, he's you're guy.
Does not learn kids name. Only reads off of his slides that are about 8 yers old. No actual coding done in his class. Only teaches a program that he made. Only grades on how he does it. If you make it better you will fail his class.
Don't be fooled by literally any positive review on this man. He is the worst CompSci professor at Seton Hall. He picks around 2-3 students per semester to favor and then selectively ignores anyone elses emails for the bulk of the semester. If you do not complete an assignment to HIS liking, you will get an F. Regardless if it runs.
honestly if you are a cs major please choose another professor. for one he is rude, he doesnt actually teach and it is just annoying when u HAVE to ask for assistance when it should be given, even when you ask or send emails there is always an atittude from this guy. im so disappointed and i regret taking this course with this type of professor.
Very few times do I get angry with a professor. Horrible grader, lectures are drag. 1 or 2 long projects weekly. Only kids that do well are the kids that get hired to be tutors because they spend absurd hours studying compsci and studying the professor as well. STAY AWAY FROM HIM. DO NOT TAKE COMPSCI AT SHU.
The male cs professors at Seton Hall are ignorant to the fact that half of their classes will be unemployed after graduation, regardless of their education. This degree course is set up solely to produce Software Engineers, where there is a surplus in the job market. Morazan is incredibly naive and narrow minded on the flexibility of a cs degree.
What a joke. This professor looks like he's on the verge of collapse and grades like he's pulling scores out of thin air. Too lazy to do real evaluations, hides behind group projects, and assigns random grades. You really have to see it to believe how bad he is
Irl 40 year old virgin. Definitely can't even see his own junk when he uses the bathroom. Acts like a genius, teaches like a mess, and grades like he's picking numbers out of a hat
