He gets his class involved in creative activities to understand the material he is teaching
Very good teacher that made the class fun and useful. You do have to take notes and study and should be interactive with the class. He hates tardiness so make sure to be on time for class.
class was actually fun...
Wonderful professor.
He is very nice and the class is actually fun. Test are really easy if you read the material and the book is really easy to understand!
So glad this was my first class back to college after 20 years. I looked forward to going to class and listening to him. His lectures were engaging and personalable, he was very open and honest. I learned a lot in this class, near perfect class all the way around. Someone you wish you could know outside of school too!
He is 1 of the BEST professors ever! Most def. someone u would like 2 hangout with outside of class.Hardly any work at all.Exams are super easy & the only actual assignment is a group project that takes up the whole semester;letting u miss half the actuall in-class time! Take this class it's like free credits. His personality makes him kinda sexy!;)
Very interesting class, Marcus makes the material fun to learn. Tests were not difficult if you read the book. The only downside of his class was the group project. It took up the entire semester and alot of outside class time. When it came time to present it was clear things were not done to his liking, expectations were not made very clear.
He is the best professor EVER! Nice guy and has a great personality. He makes the material actually fun to learn. This is by far the funnest class I've taken! His tests were easy and lectures interesting. The group project was an easy A, and classtime was given to work on it, so not too much time out of class needed to be spent.
Adrusko was a great guy, and a great teacher. Highly recommended!
Only take this course if you like group work. Class was boring, start with a quiz on the chapter, then a powerpoint. Always used every minute of class. Lots of sarcasm.
I really enjoyed this class, and thought that Mr. Andrusko really explained the material well. Some topics were more difficult to get people to share insights and information. I thought that the group project was very helpful. You learn how you work in a group, even if it didn't work well, and how to improve for future reference.
He's a pretty cool guy, and definitely is seasoned in the subject. He doesn't teach a lot of classes, and does this one for fun. I learned a lot in his class, he does a good job of giving plenty of opportunity for everyone to understand. But if you don't take the opp, your grade will reflect it. Quiz every day, group work, definitely attend class!
He's very prepared for class every week. Just sit back and listen to the powerpoint. There is group work, its pretty easy just hang out with your group and come up with a presentation on your topic. Tests are easy, they are basically common sense questions. He does like to mention his poltical and religious views which I think is inappropiate.
I had all A's on my tests, and scored well on every quiz. and barely got a final A as a grade because of a poor group performance. If you are a group leader and confident that you can make the group function to their highest potential take this class, but if you dont want your grade to be dependant on others find another prof. 25% grade 4 groupwor
Excellent professor very laid back can be sarcastic so if you need a straight and narrow teacher, don't take this, daily quizzes so attendance is important, reading helps with tests, a lot of the information seemed to be common sense, very interesting course however considering I took it only because I had to, so I was pleasantly surprised,Loved it
He makes it super fun and exciting
He is VERY helpful and always fun to be around. Makes class fun, interesting and engaging. By far the BEST professor, or teacher for that matter, that I have ever had!
Great Teacher, Made class very fun and engaging. I would recommend him to anyone.
Marcus is the best professor! Extremely helpful if you ask for it. There are quizzes every class so attendance is a must. Class was fun and engaging! Lots of group work, which had its challenges but I definitely learned a lot from him! Would take a class with him over and over again! And he grades on a curve which is a plus!
I wish Marcus was my professor for all my classes! He is very entertaining and down to earth, his use of real life examples really added value to the class! If you get a chance to take a class with him, do it.
Marcus is the best professor I've had at NCC. He's funny, clear about the material, and there to help his students. I wish I could take more of his classes!
If you don't mind a professor who loves the Bible to the extreme, then you'll like Marcus. Aside from his constant Christian BS, his Public Speaking class was incredible.
Loved having him as a teacher. His tests are a little tricky but he let us test together with a partner! Also, he's a very easy grader on assignments. I would highly recommend him to anyone!
Quizs although not easy you'll do fine if you read the chapter and they don't affect your grade that much. I can't tell you how much you'll learn just by listening to his lectures. He really knows the material and cant teach it if you just pay attention and stay up on the reading.
A very down to earth teacher! He stay true to syllabus. His tests are a little tricky, but he gives us the option to work with a partner if we wish to do so. He also gives out a lot of extra credit opportunities!
This class was a requirement for my degree. I actually got a lot out of Public Speaking. I enjoyed that he gave feedback and asked for peer feedback as well. Textbook really only used for online quizzes. Great teacher as long as you participate.
Excellent professor! Very patient and thoughtful! Always willing to help you with ideas! He sticks to the syllabus. Very nice and has lots of stories to share! He does the first speech and that first speech of the semester made me cry! So emotional!
love the class and Marcus!
Marcus was great. Loves his Into to Communication class and I would definitely take another one of his classes. Participation is required but he makes the class fun.
Marcus was a great teacher, probably the best I've had at NCC. If you show up for class and participate, you'll do great. He's very down to earth and always willing to help. He makes the class fun. If you get a chance to take his class, def take it.
This Communications Class was my favorite class I have taken so far. He is amazing when it comes to help, all you have to do is ask. He keeps discussion flowing well and never goes off topic. If you do the work and participate in class, you will do well in his class.
It was a fun class. Never boring. The only negative part is that you get a 50100 points if you miss one class and 0100 points if you miss two classes. Even if it was a medical emergency like mine was. This will effect your grade tremendously. Overall, great teacher if you NEVER miss class.
You start off class with a fun brain teaser, T of F quiz based off of the chapter assigned for that week. Engaging lectures & he explains things in a way that keeps you interested. You get to know classmates & it makes class that much more fun. Assignments were actually fun and not difficult. Class is 3 hrs but never feels like it. LOVE this class
He's Horrible at explaining what will be on the test and what he expects from you. he'll tell you how to do the paper, and then the day its due he'll change it on you. get on his good side the first day of class or you are probably going to have trouble getting a good grade no matter what.
He's not too great with explaining what he's grading on projects (example: if you need to dress up or not when presenting), and what he expects from it. I enjoyed meeting lots of new people, and becoming friends with them. The lectures were great, and he was nice and funny at times as well. You'll need to make time out of class for group projects.
Best professor at NCC I've ever had. Actually genuinely cares about his students. I WANTED to come to class. He makes the work relate-able to your life; so, you're interested in what he is teaching. Lectures are anything but boring. Kind of hard to prepare for tests, but he let's you take tests with a partner. Take any class with him you can!
He's probably one of the best teachers I have had in a long time. He cares about you as a person no just as a number.
I really enjoyed taking this course. I was actually sad when the course ended. The lectures really opened up my mind to things I never had thought of before ,and it made me look at things differently. To get a good grade: Listen to the lectures. READ the book(seriously all the answers are in there ,and its not that bad of a book) and show up!
I took interpersonal Communication with him and was also sad when the class ended. Awesome instructor.
Marcus is an amazing instructor. He does a great job of relating the information back to your personal life. At the beginning his teaching methods are a little uncomfortable but as the class continues you realize why he instructs the class the way he does. Would 100% take any class from him again
Marcus is hands down the best professor I have ever had. There is never a doubt that he cares the most any teacher can, and he has given me so much to think about-a lot more than he "had" to. I took him for Intro to Human Comm and then for Public Speaking, and from the beginning, he has made speaking more comfortable for me. Marcus is the best.
Best of the best...
The classroom environment is one of the best I've ever had. It is comfortable, positive, engaging and it feel non-judgmental. Even when given feedback from Marcus, it is positive, and I know he cares.
I liked how Marcus connected everything he talked about to real life, whether it be his life or how we can apply it to ours. A lot of the things I learned in this class have helped me in the real world.
Very supportive learning environment. Sets high expectations. Love the sense of community built in class.
Amazing teacher, loved his lectures
Online Small Group Comm. Very intense. Heavy work load. Learned a ton. Great class. All communication in slack channels. Easy quizzes and tests. Gives a lot of feedback, available for questions. Get ready for group work. It's all group work. FOLLOW THE RUBRICS.
If I had the chance to take this class again, I would take it in-person. You are heavily graded on projects you complete with the same group over the course of the semester, and the other people in your group can make or break your grade. It was hard doing everything online, but Marcus was always willing to answer any questions about anything.
Marcus doesn't let you "get away" with not doing your best.
He shows his knowledge through his experience in the business world. It was very helpful in the way he presented the material to the class.
Very easy to communicate with, humor makes class more fun, feedback is helpful and well understood.
The teacher is nice and will help if you need it . But the professor makes the class harder than it needs to be.
The teacher explains very well what he wants us to do in class. Everything was well organized.
I learned more than I thought I would and enjoyed it.
I have already completed a degree at Moorhead State University and I have never had such a great teacher. He is approachable and makes the learning environment very enjoyable.
Mr. Andrusko was one of the best college professors that I have had the pleasure to learn from.
Marcus made my fall semester a blast. He monitored the online groups and made suggestions to how we could work better together. His feedback was constructive.
Do not ever take, he changes his minds on assignments CONSTANTLY leaving you to wonder what grade you will ever get... He is fairly harsh on grading too, so if you are hoping to receive an A you can likely forget about that and just try and get a B. Lectures vs Group work content are extremely different and leaves you to wonder what youre learning
I strongly recommend to everyone to take this class. He's funny and makes learning fun. My favorite teacher so far at this school and I am done with my second year.
I will likely be going into communications due to taking classes with Marcus. He applies content to our futures and careers.
Quizzes taken in class can be answered without reading the textbook. Very smooth speaker. Would entertain students' humour. Class material was easy to digest, using many real-life examples. Will match students' effort put in. High standards for speech grading-- follow the rubric. Very lenient as long as you are polite and show some humility.
Marcus is always supportive & willing to work with you. He explains things in ways that can be easily understood. Amazing teacher!
Great professor! Clear directions on assignments. If you try in the class, you will do well. Would recommend!
Marcus pushes us outside our comfort zone, but provides a supportive and kind learning environment.
I love everything about this professor! He was phenomenal amazing lecture, excited to think and so funny! Highly Recommend!
I wouldn't recommend this class if you want to balance other harder classes with this one. The chapters are long, he's a bit of a tough grader, sometimes the tests can be hard. He lets you take the test with a person if you want. I feel like he makes this class harder, but he does relate the topics to real life.
He's a great teacher, you won't regret taking his class. For his test you have an option to take it with a partner! He does a great job on explaining the subject.
He shows his knowledge through his experience in the business world. He was very helpful in the way he presented material to the class. It was nice that the technology that we used was for this class is what is used in the professional world instead of just the classroom.
I enjoyed the diverse learning perspectives. The info was presented in a fresh accessible way.
He engaged us in the material and made class fun for us. Great teacher - I learned alot.
Seems to care about his students. Adds personal ideas into his curriculum & supports open conversation. Really enjoyable professor!
Marcus is very willing to answer students questions when they have them and helps clarify what they need to do to succeed in his course. Being able to approach him with questions/concerns was very helpful multiple times throughout the course.
Always honest & helpful. Uses constructive criticism when necessary & helps where you have weak spots. Rules are strict for attendance but it helps so much.
Professor Andrusko has created an environment in this class where people feel safe and respected in their opinions and comments through facilitating group activities. He is always friendly and kind and I think that his students feel that he is someone they can go to for advice and questions comfortably. He provides helpful tips and feedback.
Andrusko is always checking in with us - seeing what's up. He presents the info in a relatable and easy-to-understand type of way. He' super wise too, so that's dope.
Probably the best professor Ive ever had. He actually cares about his students and their wellbeing.
Professor Andrusko has such energy and passion for what he teaches and its infectious.
Marcus has a great way of teaching me course material. It didn't even seem like a class. It gave me a lot of great tools for my own life & I appreciate Marcus' passion for this course.
This class is helpful in my private life. It is interesting and the professor is very good. I would recommend this class and teacher to friends.
Marcus encourages student learning. Awesome teacher!
He relates well to students and uses examples from his own life. He never belittles students for asking questions. Great class and prof.
I like this class and this teacher because he makes the information relate to my life in ways that I can use it right away. You can tell the he cares about what he does.
He treats every student with a large amount of respect. Expects the best out of everyone and is very understanding. He also gives great feedback.
Everything that is talked about in class is interesting to learn. The instructor turns a subject that can be "scary" for some into a fun topic to learn about.
This was the class that I always wanted to have, to improve my relationships with people. I definitely recommend it - especially Professor Marcus to everyone.
Best instructor that I have had at Normandale. 10 / 10
Andrusko's lectures are interesting and he keeps us engaged and laughing while we learn.
The environment that he creates for this class is comfortable and I feel that it is easy for students to express their opinions and emotions during class.
His learning environment is different from most profs I've had. He allows mistakes to be made so the students can experience failure and learn how to recover from it. I really respond well to this "trial by fire" technique. It works with this classes subject matter.
The teacher was really nice and respectful. You could tell that he was passionate about the class.
Marcus is the best professor I've had while attending college. He knows his stuff. The lectures are helpful to my private life. I'd love to have another class with him.
GOD. I loved this class and this professor so much, it was so enjoyable in fact I don't think I ever missed a single class! The workload in this class was very fair for a 3 credit course, weekly reading and quizzes. The tests were never too difficult if you studied and listened to the lectures!
This was easy, but I did not like the set up of this class. There was a lot of busy work and reading. Also, he is hard to get a hold of because he does not respond to emails at night or on the weekends.
Marcus really made it fun to learn. He pushed our comfort zones for the better.
Marcus is a fantastic professor. He makes the class fun and engages people in discussions. I really enjoyed this class.
He's great - I loved Marcus' style of teaching. Extremely caring and understanding teacher. Also, he's down to Earth and relatable.
Marcus is an excellent teacher and overall just a really good person. While his class was difficult, he gives students every opportunity to succeed by working with you throughout the entire process. This class was challenging, however this was in large part due to lazy group members that you get in any group project throughout college.
Some papers, tests and group work. Pretty standard for an intro group class, but unnecessarily difficult. You don't get much support outside of your group, and if there are issues, good luck getting help to resolve them.
Marcus gives feedback on every assignment and makes sure that you understand why you got the grade you got. I really like how he talks to each group at every meeting.
He is very open and kind to everyone. He showed me that I am capable of anything that I put my mind to. He has the kind of personality that makes you want to come back.
This was honestly one of the stupidest classes i've ever taken. It felt like a complete waste of my time, and I did not care for any of the group projects we were assigned to do. Overall, it should be an easy class, though I found it to be unnecessarily difficult. For a communications class, it felt like nobody was communicating anything.
The instructor made me become more curious about the topics and connected them to my personal life. Very good information.
What I learned in this class I will use forever in my life and relationships. It's a fun class.
Marcus made the class enjoyable and meaningful in a way that we could connect the content to our personal lives. I would definitely recommend his class to my family or friends if they were looking.
Hands down, best professor at Normandale. He genuinely cares for his student's wellbeing, will ask you how you've been doing at the start of every class. Very engaging during lectures and he likes when people ask questions. There are a few group projects which made me nervous, but it's easy to get comfortable after the first week.
He assigned projects without giving instructions on how they should be done, then gave several 0's for not doing it right only to then retroactively give us any criteria for how he actually wanted it done. For example, he had us make an agenda right after introducing "the standard agenda", when our agenda followed it he said that we did it wrong.
The instructor included real-world examples in with the textbook and class discussion. It was very helpful. I honestly think that the best way to learn about working in groups is by doing just that, and thats exactly what we did in class. Its one thing to read about working in groups, but its another thing to actually do it.
Marcus is a really cool teacher, with lots of experience in what he teaches, and its nice that he's personable and easy to talk to. That helped make the class more enjoyable. He also included real-world examples in with the textbook and class discussion. It was very helpful.
I truly enjoyed this class. It was the highlight of my week. I loved how Marcus would check in with all of us, to see how our past week had been. We got to settle in before getting into the lesson. He seems very knowledgeable on the subject, and confident in his teaching, which for me, helps to stay engaged, and learn in a safe environment.
The entire class is group project after group project. This is close to impossible to do well online. Half of the lectures seemed like we were just trying to fill the time and we are required to use slack. Very nice guy and easy class but not really worth it. All in all I would not recommend taking his class.
Marcus' lectures are interesting and he knows how to keep us engaged and laughing while we learn.
Andrusko is absent from this class. If you have a problem in your group and need help, good luck with getting it. If you get a bad group, your best option is to withdraw or drop from this class ASAP, because he will not be lenient and will not re-assign you. Even if your group has half the members. He needs to be reviewed. Worst experience ever...
Marcus is very engaging, and does an EXCEPTIONAL job connecting the class to real life.
Doesn't matter the quality of your work, as long as you submit it ON TIME. He only cares about DUE DATES. If you miss any assignment, there is no making it up and will drop an entire letter grade. Takes a while to reply to emails or does not reply at all. If you are stuck in a bad group, get ready to do the group projects yourself. Not very hard
It was very organized and I was never confused as to when anything was due or what the expectations were. I really liked being challenged because I had never worked in a group to that extent before, and I liked the more autonomous nature of the class. The teacher was there for support, to teach us, and to facilitate activities.
What I learned from this class is really valuable and will definitely stick with me. I also had a lot of fun with the activities and games we did in class, and it was really cool to get to know my group members and work hard and have fun with them. I always appreciate some comic relief and I think it helps create cohesion.
The Teacher made this class fun to learn and made simple connections on how I could apply the course to my life.
I really wanted to love this class. It was more like a self help book where you read about feelings. I thought we would have some chances to use skills. It was a really disappointing setup. Kind of a nonexistant teacher but not a hard class at all and easy A if you are looking
I literally gush to my boyfriend about this class. I find myself implementing what I learn right away. Marcus is a caring teacher.
This class is reading heavy, but he also provides good lectures. He is really caring and has a structured outline for schedule, assignments, and expectations. If you do the work it's easy to get an A. This class isn't an easy A class per se, but does have very clear expectations and he is a totally reasonable guy that wants you to succeed.
Marcus was amazing. I had him for interpersonal communication. He really gets everyone out of their shell and the discussion are very inspiring and helpful. His lectures are very interesting. He is a very nice guy and gives you a light load of work. Tests and papers were pretty easy. One of the best professors!!
Marcus uses Slack to teach the class. Participation matters as he does not accept late work (directs you to his syllabus). He gave a reasonable amount of things to do for the class. His tests are quite hard as the average gets about 75%, but the assignments make up for it as long as you do them on time. Overall, he's okay, but not my favorite.
Marcus is personable, easy to talk to, & accessible, but some of his assignments are not super clear. He provides feedback on the assignments, but never on the actual group communication. I would take his classes again but def not this class solely bc of the amount of time you must dedicate to get a good grade & it was a pain working in a group.
Was of no help when my group abandoned me and a few other people. The active people did extra work and were given near failing grades because the professor failed to enforce any form of rules and shifted the blame onto us, and also failed to inform us about group members leaving the class without warning.
Marcus was awesome. I learned valuable stuff that I know I'll use in the future. The class was fun with all the activities and games we did. Getting to know my group members was really cool too. We worked hard together and had a blast. Marcus' sense of humor was a nice touch, making the class even more enjoyable. Highly recommend this course.
The professor enriched our learning with practical examples. My belief in learning by doing was confirmed via hands-on group work throughout the course. Reading about group collaboration is insightful, but nothing compares to the knowledge gained from actual participation. Without this, my understanding would be less comprehensive. Great teacher.
Marcus' deep knowledge, real-world examples, and warm persona make class engaging and enjoyable. His ease of communication is a bonus. Definitely recommend!
Marcus is a fantastic teacher and a wonderful man. His course can be tough, yet he ensures all students have ample chances to thrive by supporting them during the entire learning journey. The complexity of the course was largely attributable to some team members who didn't pull their weight, an issue frequently encountered group-based project.
Professor Marcus inspires students and instills confidence in our abilities. He genuinely believes in our potential and consistently motivates us to explore new possibilities. I discovered that I am capable of achieving anything I set my mind to.
This class was really cool. The topics were fun to learn, plus they're handy in day-to-day life. The professor was great, making stuff easy to understand. If you want to get better at understanding yourself and otherpeople, this is a good class.
I was always afraid to take Interpersonal Communication. Marcus made it may favorite class.
He's a great and approachable guy, it's just he's not that great at teaching. There was way too much homework for a three credit class. This class is just confusing because he doesn't give clear expectations and I feel he's very unorganized. If these two things were fixed I would have enjoyed his class a bit more.
I believe there is potential for this being a great and fun class, but I would not recommend taking it online asynchronous. It was a struggle all semester to get group members to participate or set solid meeting times, continuously leading to a few members doing nearly all of the work. If you must take it, in person or synchronous is the way to go.
The course and the way in which Marcus Andrusko taught it constantly connected to my life.
Great teacher but lacked communication on when assignments were due
Loved it
You are required to meet with group members weekly and participation is required to pass. Overall, class isn't hard if you're willing to put in the work.
Professor Marcus is engaging and genuinely cares about student success. The workload is reasonable, and implementing the lessons is immediately applicable. unstuck AI proved a helpful study tool alongside the textbook. With Marcus' guidance, I gained confidence in my communication skills.
Very encouraging and understanding with assignments and expectations.
really great at giving feedback and encouraging
Marcus is a good teacher and has clear, informative lectures that cover everything in exams. There are a lot of reading and discussion posts. If you take an hour or two a day to keep up on everything, you can easily get a good grade.
I took this class completely online and it caused me no stress whatsoever ever. Easiest class I've ever taken but gave valuable information.
Amazing professor with a wealth of knowledge and great interpersonal skills.
