I enjoyed his class. Took him over the summer. He's very helpful, especially if you're into writing. His comments are always dead on. He brings a lot to the table. Class wasn't difficult, actually it was very enjoyable. Just what I needed taking 16 summer hours

Creative writing was definately one of the best classes I've ever taken. Pactor is awesome. I actually looked forward to going to class because it was so interesting and I learned so much. I highly recommend it if you want to improve your writing and take a fun class.

He was great. Even if you are not the best writer, he will work with you until you are. He's somewhat of a tough grader but only because he knows when you can do more. I got an 84 on my first paper and ended up with a 96 on the last one we did. He's very helpful and responds to emails very quickly.

Comming out of highschool I wasn't a good writer, english was a poor subject for me, now after taking this class i'm ready for the rest of writing in college. Mr. Pactor helped me out alot with developing my writing skills and correcting my errors. Gives papers often but it helps in the long run, I would recommend this class to anyone, I got a A.

pactor was a great teacher and is hilarious. if you attend and partake in class he will like you more and assist you in any way possible. you do have alot of essays but he has normally has about 2 rough drafts so you are able to complete the project in a timely mannor. dont ever plagiarize because he finds it very insulting and will hunt you down!

Can sometimes take points off for reasons irrelevant to the course discription, often grades you more on your grammer then your content. Always there to help though, and very funny. I do feel like I learned a lot about writing, but thought this course would be a little more about analysis then technical grammer...felt like college writing again!

Pactor is a great prof... he wants you to use him, (i mean as a reference). you get what you put into the class. You better show up to class or you are stumped. if you go, and atleast try... put in your imput, then he will grade you well. Yes, a bunch of papers and he usually disects them, but he's really good. Pactor's an awesome guy, he really seems to care about his students. I've taken him twice and he's always been extremely helpful. He's really funny and tries to make literature as fun as it can possibly be. The stories he picks are usually pretty interesting, one was about a guy turning into a huge breast. Take him, you won't regret it!

I know most people like his class but I did'nt. Truthfully, yes he is a nice guy, but you do the same thing EVERY class. It gets so boring. You have ALOT of paper due and he actually is one of the hardest grader I have come across. Also the books are soo weird, I did'nt like them at all.

!WOW! BEST CLASS I HAVE TAKEN AT UNF. This class was so much fun. He is laid back and is younger than most profs. He cares and helps outside of class. He is realistic in the work he assigns and can still see the students side of things. This is more than i can say about other profs who become jaded. He can spout of authors like the best of them.

Mr.Pactor is a great professor. He is witty and very relate able. He is a tough grader, and a stickler on attendance but as long as you pay attention and as for help if needed, you will pass. Daily quizzes are given to help boost final grade. Take him, he is a awesome.

Great Teacher, clear and concise, allows you to understand books and readings much better, page by page. he is a very tough grader but if you do everything he asks you to, which is not very hard, you will do well, come to class, work hard and you will learn more from him then you could possibly from another professor A+

Very nice teacher and always willing to help. Very reading based class so if you do the reading you'll do fine. No tests. Just quizzes on the reading. And 4 papers. He explains passages and gives you feedback on your papers to help you write better. This is the first english class I actually learned something in. A++++

I really liked this guy. I had him 3 semesters ago and he still says "hi" to me in the hallway. Tough grader on papers, interesting lectures. I really did learn a lot his class.

Pactor's ENC/LIT classes are by far the best options at UNF. Some of the required readings ended up being some of my all time favorites. Each of them is interesting, some a little dirty. Even if they weren't Pactor's personality would make up for them. Very helpful and funny. Also a PILF.

I took Enc 1101 and I just finished Lit 2000 with him. He is a very cool teacher. He is a little hard grader on papers but fair. Is an easy class to get an A in he gives extra credit. COme to class because he gives quizes which help you. Overal a great teacher.

I took him not knowing what to expect. After the first day of class and having a list to do already I became worried. But then seeing all the time I had in between his classes (only one day a week which was monday), it gave us plenty of time to work on his papers. Dr. Pactor was a very inspiring and motivating professor. He had a genuine interest in his students education.

I am not an English person at all, but I found his class very interesting. You do need to read the books (there were only 4) but they were all good books and easy reads. Discussions were fun, he made me look at the readings in an entirely different way. 2-3 question quiz on the reading every class and one oral presentation. I definitely recommend!

Mr. Pactor is a very good teacher. He does discuss drugs almost every class period, but the novels he chooses are different and interesting. He will help you as much as your willing to meet with him. He is a good teacher as long as you're willing to work. His class is not hard, but he certainly won't hand you your grade.

He does mention drugs/sex a lot, sometimes borders on offensiveness. He is randomly funny, young, and feels more like a fellow student. Second class was canceled because no one showed up prepared. That disappointed me because I felt like he could've used time better. Despite being "cool", he doesn't teach a whole lot, and I didn't learn very much.

Pactor is a great techer. He makes the literture fun, and class can be fun too. H eis one of those teachers that requires u to read the books. But if ur into reading then hes ok. If u dont want 2 read the material and attend class then dont take him.!!!

I thought Pactor was a funny, friendly guy. He expects you to be in class obviously because you discuss the books your read plus other stuff. You write a paper on each book basically. I rather liked the books we read. (Jesus' Son, Cat's Cradle, etc) He gives a lot of feedback if your paper isnt an A. Makes things interesting. I'd take him again.

Pactor pretty wise teacher if you actually want to learn in lit 2000. he is a pretty funny guy, he is organized and he goes at the pace of the class itself. for every book u read u basically do a paper after and thats the class. he is pretty easy and if you show that you care your almost guaranteed a b. ;)

Pactor is an amazing professor. His class is very challenging and is not for slackers what so ever! This man truly does teach you how to write. He is rather intimidating and sometimes you will hate him. If you work hard and show improvement through your writing he will make your grade worth the trouble. His grading scale is easy! Pactor is a pretty cool dude. His class is easy if you are willing to give a little effort on correcting and rewriting your papers. Go to class everyday if you want good quiz grades, he quizzes the class everyday, but if you read his directions for every class it should be no problem passing. intro to fiction was the class i looked forward to going to every tuesday. time flew by and it was a small class so everyone got really close. he is really funny. he knows his stuff and all u gotta do is write 2 stories and revise one and define a few terms from the books. really easy as long as u do what he asks. would take him again.

He grades really tough, but is always willing to help you out when you need it. If you want an easy A requiring no effort or work, DO NOT take his classes.

I rated Pactor as hot not so much for physical attraction, but mental attraction. The man is so smart, witty, and humorous that if you're into brains you might just be in love after taking his class.

You will have to do regular assignments, but they are not hard, just numerous, and as long as you do them you will be fine.

Pactor is funny. He is also a grammer monster. If you are a good writer you will do good in his class. I withdrew some got a's some failed. This class comes down to three essays and a presentation at the end. Many rough drafts the class is about revising essays for grammer. He doesnt like people who dont pay attention. 5 absence = fail much essays.

Very nice and fun teacher. Lots of essays but rather easy. He focused on revision of your paper. Make sure final paper always has many clear corrections. if you have a D rough draft and correct it to a B then he will see your effort and give you a good grade.

Pactor is awesome. There are 2-4 hw assignments every week and 3 papers. 2 papers are short stories which are easy to get A's on as long as you have somewhat decent grammar and follow the proper format. If you do every hw assignment (or most of them) and the papers, you'll have an A. Pactor is also hilarious and always available to help.

I really hated this class. I might also be a bit biased because I am a Biology major at UNF, and am taking pretty tough science courses. I registered for this class thinking it would be an easy A, since I needed one more English class, and I hated it so much! For me, it was a lot of work, that I did not have time to do because of my science classes

Great person overall, but if you're not an English major DON'T take him honestly. There's two papers, 1st min of 5 pages 15% of your grade, 2nd min of 10, 20%. At the end revise one of them and its 30% of your grade. he grades the papers extremely hard for an intro course! not an easy A. I'm a strong writer and im barely passing with a B. Just no.

Pactor has a reputation for being really tough, but neither I, nor him, nor my classmates understand how he gets that reputation. It is true that he pulls no punches in his analysis of your stories, but that's a good thing, especially considering he'll rip it apart to make you a better writer and then give you an A. Deeply cares about his students.

Pactor is the best professor I have had at UNF so far. He was so helpful with my writing and makes the class a joy to attend. 3 Major writing Submissions and daily critiques on either classmates submissions or writing from the textbook. No tests. Mandatory attendance but you won't want to miss a second of his class anyways. Highly HIGHLY recommend.

Pactor is awesome! 3 major assignments, 1st 5-10 pages, 2nd 8-13 pages and the last is a revision of one of the first 2 assignments. Daily quizzes over provided readings. No textbook! He is a firm grader but as long as you know how to write English and listen and apply the feedback you get from him and your classmates, this class is an easy A.

If you are not going to go to class, not going to participate in class discussions, or not going to put effort into improving your writing skills, do not take this course. Its true, he will rip your story apart and possibly even insult you, but it's all to make you a better writer. This was one of the better and more challenging courses I've taken.

I've taken Pactor's Fiction Workshop twice, and both times were different learning experiences. He's excellent at getting you to go out of your comfort zone, whatever that is. He encourages experimentation, sometimes requires it. His critiques can sound rough (even as he gives you an "A"!), but he's doing it to help you. Con: Uses profanity a lot.

After reading some of the reviews here I went into my creative writing class fearing the worst. I shouldn't have. Pactor can tell when you have spent time on your writing and when you just slopped something together. He gives constructive criticism, but that is expected - It's a writing class. He's here to challenge you as a writer, not coddle you.

The first time I took his class, it was for a requirement. By the time I was getting ready to graduate, I signed up for 3 of his classes. If you're serious about creative writing and you want to push yourself more than you ever have, take him. If you are overly-sensitive about your work, suck it up and take him. It's your best bet for careerwriting

Cool guy. You'll read some weird stories. He isn't for everyone. Critiques can be harsh, but he's trying to help. Grammar mishaps are his pet peeve because it suggests lack of effort. If you miss class and don't turn in critiques, he won't hesitate to fail you. People only got dragged for day 1 grammar/mechanics mistakes in the last month of class.

Weird kind of a guy, but he makes the class interesting. He knows that not everyone in his class are psych majors and that we just need it for the GenEd. Only get 3 absences, after that you fail. No tests, no exams, just 2 fiction stories that have to be 5-7 pgs and you have to make copies for the entire class. He talks a lot about Star Wars.

Marcus Pactor was an awesome writing teacher. He genuinely cares about your success and will try to help you do better in all aspects of writing. Pactor is also hilarious, he makes the class very enjoyable. Definitely my favorite class for the semester. JUST CHECK YOUR GRAMMAR WHEN TURNING IN STORIES AND PAPERS. If you don't you will suffer.

Pactor became one of my favorite professors very quickly. He knows how to keep a class interesting and he encourages you to think creatively. If you're afraid to be weird, this class isn't for you. I'm an English major and I took his intro class. He ended up pushing me to work harder, and I thank him for that. Make sure you participate. Talk a lot!

Workshop style class. No textbooks but lots of printing. Total cost to print at library this semester was about $35, which is way cheaper than any textbook. Great professor, makes it interesting by picking weird stories to read. I got great feedback from my classmates and became more interested in writing.

He gives an entire page of feedback on stories. You have to write a lot of critiques for other people, but they're pretty short and easy to do. The stories he assigns are interesting. Guy's really anal about bad grammar because he thinks it shows carelessness. If you know how to write like a normal, competent college student should, you'll be fine

The best fiction professor at UNF. He values artistry and will make your work better. A lot of his students have taken a class by him multiple times because he's so great.

Pactor is awesome! This was a great class to end all my required writing courses. There are technically 3 papers but you can build off the first one if it's good enough. I was rarely ever bored in this class.

Pactor is so friendly and passionate about what he does. Class itself is easy, but you'll have to write a piece about once every two weeks and three critiques a week. In class, all you do is critique others' work and occasionally your own. A slightly tough grader but other than that, you'll be fine. Not a super hard class.

He is a good professor and offers a lot of extra credit. He is a tough grader on the submission assignments, but will provide feedback prior to the due date if asked. There is a lot of busy work which can be time consuming, but nothing too strenuous.

I took this class online during the summer, and he was a great professor to take it with. I do have to say that he is a tough grader. There are 2 assignments per week, and a project at the middle and at the end of the semester. You should be fine if you follow what's in the textbook and the supplemental videos he provides with each assignment.

Pactor is a great professor, overall I think he is very caring and he wants everyone who takes his class to succeed. I'd recommend h
