She went over everything many times, was clear about what was on tests, and was understanding about homework problems. I took her for both Math 15 and 20 and would like to take her class again
Excellent structure to class lectures, plenty of exampls to follow, and a clear progression from one concept to another. Plenty of homework, but if you knuckle down and do it, the tests are easy As. Mildly annoying tendency to ask "right?" for confirmation a lot - but she's just making sure people are on the same page with her.
her teaching style is fast. but she explains everything well.. also she will give you answer's to the test before the test date.. i like her.
I like her so far...granted it's only the third class session. She seems to fly through lecture but is very clear and uses lots of examples. She is not iontimidating if you have a "silly" question. I am def. glad I have her this time around.
she means well but she talks to fast and her accent is so thick that i couldnt understand what she was saying.
she speaks far too fast and with an accent
Best math teacher I've ever had. Never understood math before I took her Math 15 class, but now I'm doing well. She's a little hard to understand at first due to her accent, but I got used to it. She's not intimidating. And she's pretty ;-)
It is a pretty easy class so far. She talks really fast and it's important to sit near the front or else you will not see anything she is writing. There is a lot of HW but it is mostly busy work and copying directly from the book. The tests are very easy but you have to show your work to get full credit on all multiple choice questions.

I WOULDNT RECCOMMEND TAKING THIS CLASS..SHE TALKS FAST AND JUST FLYS THROUGH THE LESSON, SHE HAS AN ACCENT THAT IS HARD TO UNDERSTAND, AND SHES ALWAYS SAYING THE WORD "RIGHT?" AFTER EVERYTHING SHE SAYS........WHICH MAKES TRYING TO LEARN THE LESSON ERY VERY HARD....EVEN WITH A TUTOR IM STILL NOT DOING WELL.....OUR CLASS REALLY NEEDS A TEACHER WITH NO ACCENT AND THORUOUGLY EXPLAINS THE LESSON INSTEAD OF JUST RUSHING THOROUGH IT ....SO IF YOU TAKE MATH 40 DO NOT GET THIS TEACHER!
I like this class. She teaches it at a fast rate but you just have to do the homeowrk to keep up. All homework with problems is done on the computer and the program tells you when you are wrong, gives you examples and steps you through your problem. it allows you to get 100% on the homework by doing a problem as many times as you might need. The programs is a little hard to fallow at first though. All in all, I really enjoy this class.
True.she does talk REAL fast.shes such a nice teacher.always has a smile.VERY helpful too,as if she WANTS to help you.assignments are easy.tests are hard.quizzes everyday.Teaching skills is not there, but as a caring teacher, shes got it.I persoanlly wouldnt recommend it though.
this class was very hard for me. i am not strong in math, and this teacher didnt help. she uses my math lab.com and it doesnt support a mac so i had to depend so much on the mathlab that i didnt get all my homework done and i failed almost all the tests and quizzes
I really enjoyed her class. The way she teaches was kind of fast, but she never got behind of schedule and always had a review before each exam. She is really helpful during the exam: she walks around and asks students if they have any question. If you ask her, she will give you some hints!! Do your homework & don't be lazy. Good luck :]
She was an ok teacher alot of engery. Willing to help the students only if they ask. Does talk fast but she is understandable. Could of told us we didnt have to buy a book that cost $80 bucks, only opened it twice. Scale from 1 to 10 with one being bad 10 being Awesome i give her a 6
this teacher is the worst teacher you can take for math. especially math 40. She talks wayyyyy too fast and she has that thick german accent and always saying the word "right" after everytihng she says she uses mymathlab which is the worst thing to use...didn't even learn anything from that and their quizzes everyday....take allen crocoll for math
If you learn best by taking notes she is very organized and writes everything down. All homework is done online and it's possible to get 100% everytime if you're willing to try. Punctuality is a must to take 5 question quizzes at the begining of class. Attendance are easy points, being absent can really hurt your grade. I enjoyed her class.
I took Mareike for both Math 15 and 20. She is a great teacher, one of the best teachers I have ever had. She was very helpful. The homework for 20 was done online. For 15 we did it out of the book. Either way it was still fairly easy. Her notes are very easy to understand. VERY GREAT TEACHER!!!
Her class was challenging, but manageable. She is extremely helpful during her office hours, and keeps tests on topic to what she talked about in class. Yes, she does lecture fast, but that's a minor drawback in comparison to her willingness to help you learn.
Really caring teacher. People complain about her accent, but she speaks 4 different languages,if I'm not mistaken. She uses My Mathlab, which I find to be a great help. Math is a personal nightmare to me. So if you can relate to being mathmatically challenged, she is a good professor to take.
Great teacher. She seems to really care that you understand. She uses mathlab online for homework and quizes. You don't actually have to buy the textbook because it comes with the online mathlab. The best way to understand is to just show up to the lectures. If you're bad in math like I am then this is a good teacher for you.
Great teacher. She knows how to teach Statics. She explains everything very well. IF YOU STUDY you can get a good grade. Go to her office and get help. She is very helpful.
She is a great teacher!! All her homework is done online it was so easy. She also gives out extra credit I hate math but loved the class.
Claassen is very difficult to understand and is not a well developed mathematics teacher. She may be a better engenering teacher (don't know), but as far as her math skills go, don't take her (take Stephen Plett). She spends way too much time proving theorems and not giving any examples. Not a good 250B professor
Great class! Did all my homework and studied for the exams, at the end I received an A for the class. Her pace for the class is fast and upbeat, so make sure you belong there before you sign up.
excellent teacher!
GREAT TEACHER!! Math 20 with her was very easy! So far shes my favorite math teacher. No math lab hours required, hwk is done online, she drops 2 lowest quiz & hwk scores. Shes awesome. Gives a lot of examples and helps out with any problems. She does have a fast past and every week something new is learned. If you're determined you'll do good!
what she teaches is from the book but the homework is online. the class is boring she is hard. but she does drops some scores. i for one would NEVER take her AGAIN. if cant get into another math class let her be the last on your list. however, she is nice
Really good teacher! drops 2 low hwk & quiz scores, something new is learned every week, hwk is online and u could do it till u get 100%, gives lots of examples, nice and really easy to understand! i didnt like math before but after this class i love it! she is fast paced, do they review sheets and you'll pass.i got an A and didnt always do hwk =)
By far one of the best teachers I have ever been a student of. Professor Claasen is a gem of a teacher; she really DOES teach you. She is very friendly and wants everyone to do well in her classes. Her homework is quite a heavy load but at least you can check with her before submitting the homework to get an perfect score. Simply awesome!
CLAASSEN is a great teacher. She tries to explain everything to make it as easy to comprehend as possible and she actually cares that students learn the material. She is a caring teacher, even emailed our class after the semester was over to keep us updated on transfer opportunities. If you are truly looking to learn the subject matter take her.
One of the best math teachers I have ever had. Her explanation is pretty nice and clear. She is very helpful. Tests and quizzes were quite easy. Getting A grade is easy, and I got it.
Good teacher. As with any other college math class, it is fast-paced(2 chapters covered per lecture), and if you don't do your homework(roughly 3 hours a day), you WILL get lost. No credit for homework, grade are 5% for Math Lab, 15% for daily quizzes, 45% tests, 35% final. Drops lowest test and 2 lowest quiz.
Claassen was great. Things to know: attendance is mandatory, book is not necessary because she uses my math lab and it has the text, she gives lots of examples and makes sure the class follows, homework is assigned daily but its very easy, she uses the point system so dont skip assignments or miss quizes/tests.
She is honestly the best professor I've had. She knows how to explain everything and loves her job. She is funny and very easy. She assigns hw, but never collects it. There is a quiz every day based on the hw. Her test reviews are just like the tests. If you understand the concept & study the review test, the tests are a piece of cake! Take her!!
Claasseen is really a good teacher I think. Going into trig I thought I was gonna do horrible but I like how we don't have to turn hw in and she gave us exactly what would be on the test and their was a quiz everyday on the sections that we previously learned. Only about 3-5 questions. Study alot if you struggle but I didn't so much so it wasn't to bad. She's really thorough and her office hours are great to ask her questions. Use the book alot and she gives a study guide before the tests
You really have to work hard to get a good grade in Claassen's class. If you're struggling I recommend watching the math videos in the math lab--I watched every single one and did my homework and I got an A because of it. Get help as soon as you need it because falling behind is a pain!
Im at CSULB taking analog electronics now and man, this lady IS my teacher. Im ahead of my class at all times at csulb. She makes you work alot but it pays off once you take next classes. take her. work hard. EE majors, you gotta know this stuff, thats the 1st fundamental course
She really enjoys her job. If you're taking the trig class I suggest spending some time in the math lab and just spending more time then usual studying. The test reviews are pretty accurate and its a pretty nice class to take.
She's an amazing teacher, it had been years since I've taken any sort of math and she makes her lessens extremely clear and explains everything in a way that's easy to understand. She outlines exactly what you need to know for the tests and also points out what your going to need for Calculus.
This is her first time teaching Plane Geometry and I've found it incredibly difficult to understand her lessons. She also has kept us after class time to rush through her lesson and then assigns the homework with the upcoming class meeting. Her way of teaching is the reason the class is failing. Absolute poor quality.
She is very helpful and will answer any questions you have. Her assignments are a little boring, but it is an intro to engineering class after all. She showed up to every class meeting and was prepared every day. i'll definitely take her again for ENGR 201F
Claassen is one of the best teachers I've ever had. I had her for circuits 203L and she has one of the most thorough lectures of any professor. She goes over material fast but explains topics very clearly. Her exams are medium to medium hard and homework takes many hours to complete. The class is tough but Claassen does a great job teaching it.
Mareike was one of the best professors I've ever had. Her lectures were clear, I barely opened the book. She doesn't really have HW, but she gives a quiz every day. We had 4 midterms and a final. Overall, she is nice and funny, and if you don't skip her class and study you will get an A.
She is an amazing teacher, she knows her subject and did very well in teaching it to students. I knew the class from High School, so i was fine, but she taught different ways that made is clear as to how things work in math. Recommend her defiantly!
Don't listen to the other comments, this class is so stressful!!! She makes things complicated by the way she explains things. I knew Trig from high school and when I payed attention to lectures, I got confused because she does not know how to explain. She just does it. If you get it, you get it. If you don't, that kind of sucks. She's chill though
Great professor! I am a first generation college student and her class really prepped me for the engineering field! I can't wait to take her for other classes!!
WOW, took her after what I thought was a decent prof. and what a difference! (Almost) a daily quiz to check if you're doing your HW (not collected). 4 exams, and 1 cumulative final. Drops 1 exam and 2 quizzes, great way of taking notes. She is very passionate about the Math & Engineering field, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The homework might be a little nuts at times, but I've met very few professors with such a drive to get their students to learn as Claassen. Very knowledgeable, and willing to help students in and out of the classroom.
I'm going back to school for my second degree and have over 220 college credits under my belt, so I've been around the block a few times. This is one of the best math professors I've ever had. She is clear, explains concepts very well, gives excellent class notes, and really puts in the effort to ensure the students get the most out of her class.
She was hard for me to understand through her accent. She would be sarcastic and rude sometimes if you asked her questions. Quizzes every class were hard to keep up with. She will collect hw if she feels the class isn't doing well. Provides copy of her lecture notes online. Grading is strict.
First of all..I took Claassen for granted. She is easily one of the BETTER math teachers and takes her time to work with her students. She knows the material well and is accessible outside of class and after class. Instead of docking points for mistakes like most profs, she gives points if you're going in the right direction! EXCELLENT TEACHER!
I am finally transferring and it wouldn't have been possible without prof Claassen!! She teaches the material well and definitely enlightens you about what you will expect on your journey to becoming an engineer! THANK YOU PROFESSOR, YOU A GENUIS!!
Knowledgeable and patient. Gives appearance of being tough grader but forgiving to people with good attendance and participation. Will round up grades a point or two to next letter grade. Often checks exam before accepting it and gives you hints if there are any problems you struggled with so you can fix them.
She is a great math teacher in that she explains thoroughly and goes at a perfect pace. Expects you to catch on quick but if you pay attention to her flow you will definitely learn it quick. Very kind and helpful when it comes to reviews before tests and always gives hints during tests if she sees you had a little mind blank. She's cool.
Quizzes everyday. HW are not very important from the textbook. Handouts are important to complete. quizzes are mostly from the HW given. tests are easy. but tough grader. Liked her lectures and explanation.
Professor Claassen is a great professor. She is very willing to help her students.
Took her for trigonometry, if you are fast paced learner I suggest you take her. She goes EXTREMELY fast hardly answers questions. She's mainly focused on finishing the chapters and doesn't care if you understand or not, she just assumes you catch on quick. She rushes through sections and hardly gives you time to write down the notes. I dropped.
She's the best Math teacher ever. Use her provided notes, and fill them up in class, study on those and the practice test you'll get an A.
I took her for math 20, shes really nice & will help you if you dont understand the material. Her lectures are at a fast pace & confusing. Also grades harshly if you do not do 100% of the ALEKS hw online/quizzes you will not pass the class. I did 99.99% of hw and it wasnt counted for anything. This class is mainly self independence. DO NOT TAKE
I think that Professor Claassen was a pretty good professor and a solid choice. She explains things clearly, and I noticed that the only students not passing were just not putting in the extra work nor paying attention in class. She has office hours and SI sessions are also available. All homework is done online on ALEKS, which helps tremendously.
Goes WAY TOO FAST. Thinks everything should just be review for you. Nice. Makes tests RIDICULOUSLY HARD and there's only 4 of them, but there's a quiz every single monday. Doesn't really help you to understand things, just tells you to go to SI and math lab.
Attendance is taken by roll and seating chart. Grades insanely hard on tests. They will be 4-5 questions with all different amounts of points so if youre unlucky and miss the one question that is worth 40% then theres a D on the test automatically.
She tells you from the start what you need to do to succeed. Pay attention to class everyday, take notes, do all the homework, you will pass. She's a great teacher. I've never understood precalc before but instantly everything made sense in her class. You also get "pop quizzes" everyday, basically to refresh what you learned the day before.
Probably one of the best math teachers I've had. She really gives very thorough and logical explanations on the why and how. She is also super focused and never gets off track. She is easy to approach if you need any help and she will explain patiently and thoroughly. Highly recommend if you like explanations over meaningless rules for math.
Professor Claassen's trigonometry class was not easy. She makes you practice new material over and over again but her lesson plans actually make sense! She goes through every little step to make sure that you understand how to solve problems and ace her tests. Professor Claassen is always happy to see you and offers many tutoring oppourtunities!
Very good lecturer and provides notes. She cares about student learning and it shows. Calc 4 is a tough subject in general, but her teaching style made it much easier to digest. She assigns a lot of homework, so make sure to set aside the proper amount of time. She's probably one of the best professors you can get for Calc 4.
Do not take this teacher!!!! Awful experience! Didnt learn anything.
Good professor. Took her for trigonometry, her class was meh. She tends to give more difficult hw than the exams but it'll help you for the exams. Exams are 15-20 questions so you can't really miss a lot of questions. She's probably a better professor in person but for online she was good
She simply is everything I wouldnt want in a professor she really is poor in her teaching skills she gives and i cant stress this enough ALOT OF HOMEWORK to the extend where you dont have time to actually study the material she brings really tuff exams and she requires a certain technique or else u cheated and finally her notes are useless 50% fail
Would not recommend taking her. Annotates from the instructor itinerary that is given to professors and expects students to absorb many theorems in detail. Wants some work done her way. LOTS OF HOMEWORK (I average 23 pages a week) Messy notes. Crams content and laughs it off. 6 people passed first exam 12 passed second. No extra credit. Zoom exams.
Very good lecturer. Tons of homework, tons of notes to take. Very helpful, kind of nitpicky but she cares about her students. Her tests are pretty much the same as the review packet and even if you left something blank on your test, she gives you a hint to direct you into the right answer or get more partial credit. Big on giving partial credit.
The tests are super predictable, fair, and easy. She explains things in a clear and concise way. This class really prepared me for Calc I.
She is tough, she goes super fast & sometimes throws in more HW to study a day before the quiz:( I can't tell you how many times I went home crying. She gives an enormous amount of HW. One day I asked her why I got the grade I did on a quiz and she replied, "because you don't know the fundamentals" and she laughed at my face in front of the class.
She gives way too much homework. She talks extremely fast and it's tough to understand during her online lecture videos. A lot of the hw problems she gives out tend to have no example of that problem. I went to her office hours only to get a short explanation. The way she explains things almost makes me feel dumb and feel belittled.
I think I was one of the few that passed that class. If you really double down and really focus, do the homework and lectures, you will be fine. Lots of memorization. Try to go to MathLab and her office hours if you really don't understand anything. Online homework doesn't really help for exams. Try to use her written homework and quizzes to study.
She's an incredible professor. Her exams are almost identical to the study guides she gives you, so if you can do the study guide, then you can do the exams. There is a truly insane amount of homework, though. Over 2,000 questions throughout the semester. You also have to watch her lecture videos and attend in-person. I would still take her again.
She's teaches fast, she leaves a bunch of hw not even kidding 2 hw a week each 25-40 questions and they're not quick and easy question they're very time consuming. And there's a quiz every week, she's rude and throws shade. Do not take this teacher you'll be drowning in hw and won't have much time for other hw.
Professor Claassen is probably the most enthusiastic and understanding professor at Fullerton College. You can tell that she enjoys teaching in her lectures, which all students should want in a professor. She does assign a lot of homework and does have weekly quizzes but if you pay attention during lecture and do the notes it won't be a problem.
HW is online, there are quizzes every class (it's short),exams are similar to study guide, there is a midterm/final, class work is just copy her notes and lecture. Attendance isn't mandatory but it's beneficial for learning, notes and activity points. Just pay attention and listen. Cons: She's fast, and her hw sometimes can be harder than notes.
she is absolutely bad as a professor, absolutely nonsense amounts of homework that makes no sense it doesnt let you do anything else, the notes that she do on class and that she uploads on canvas are absolutely useless because just jesus know what she was trying to write, is too fast when she explains to people that are barely learning the material
I took his class in 2021 over zoom. She would do group projects for homework and you needed to complete some quizes before class as extra credit. I felt she was really nice, patient and cared about her students to learn and pass her class. Lots of homeworks but definetely helped in her exams. Do your hw and pay attention and you will do great.
Assigns 8-12 hours of homework a week. You have to do the exams exactly the way she teaches it; OChem tutor or other outside resources aren't useful. She goes fast, unless you learn from the countless homework problems, take it somewhere else. She is a hard professor to take if you have other classes or a life outside of school.
