Coming into this class, i absolutely hated history, but I kept on finding myself looking foward to this class. Dr. Suszko is from Poland and he makes the class interesting by relating it to his experiences in Europe, and it's interesting to listen to him speak with his accent. Exams are straightforward and easy if you study from his guide.
I had this professor at another University before he came to Loyola. I absolutely loved him. He was easy to relate to. He related his experiences to the class and brought a unique point of view. If you have the opportunity to take him I would!

Marek Suszko is the man. He is super knowledgable in the subject matter and extremely helpful. He will let you send outlines for papers and tests. The tests are really fair. He expects you to talk in class however so just make sure you don't miss more than 3 times and talk a good amount and it will help your grade. TAKE HIS CLASS.
Good teacher. Attend class; he does an evaluation at the end where the class gives you a participation grade based on your attendance and participation in class. Yes, you read it right the class gives you the grade. Other then that, his tests are easy if you read the book. Do the book reports, they will help your grade big time.
Suszko is a badass. he's funny, engaged, and knows everything about his topics. his style can be deceiving though, he grades tougher on the papers, specifically on originality and critical analysis. make sure you do the reading because his lectures are usually made up of questions that he throws out to students.
Don't buy your book you don't use it. He grades on attendace and class participation. Not the hardest grader but you have to write good papers. He gives helpful test review sheets that are extremly helpful.
Prof. Suszko is fantastic! Extremely knowledgeable with a sense of humor. He grades very fairly. Assigned very interesting books for critique. Class books help with understanding but are not required because he teaches in so much detail. History of Poland was great! Take this professor!
Great professor. Challenging, but extremely interesting and fun classes. European Communism class was very enjoyable.
Prof. Suszko's History of European Communism class is fascinating. He is extremely intelligent, and his personal insight into the materials studied in class adds dimension to the subject. His lectures are always interesting. He goes out of his way to help students and obviously loves teaching. Not hard, but you learn alot. Highly recommended.
Awesome, prof. Is clear and fair and his european looks dont decieve.
I've taken this man's class twice now, and am looking forward to more if I can find time in my schedule. Anyway, he's one of the smartest and most interesting history professors I've taken at Loyola, and the subject itself wasn't bad either. Loved European Communism. And he's sad he's not getting more hot peppers. So here's to you Dr. Suszko.
Do not take this class. It's horrible, you will hate history, yourself, and Poland.
Professor Suszko is great! Not only is he funny, helpful, and very smart, he has an awesome Polish accent. But if you don't come to class, you're not going to do well. Having a background in European history helps too. If you like hisory, take his class. (If you're reading this, Hi Professor Suszko!)
wonderful professor! polish accent is easy to understand and keeps attention. this is the second class i have taken with him and plan to take another if i can. his lectures are clear and informative. read, take good notes, write the papers and you'll get a decent grade. two exams, 3 short pprs (2pg) and one long book critique (6-8pg)
this guy is awesome. class is fun to go to. total of two small papers, one book critique and two written exams. he is a very easy grader.
DONT TAKE HIS CLASS, HE CANNOT TEACH!!!
Great teacher, lots of fun! Tests are easy if you come for the exam review day. I barely had any knowledge of what we were studying but it's a great for learning something new. He has an accent, but it's not a problem. Very nice lenient grader and really wants to help you! Anyone giving him a bad review is just full of bunk. Just put in some effort
I took 3 of his classes, and I still have 2 more years to take some more classes with him...and I will. His teaching style is clear, and if you pay attention you leave the classroom knowing enough to help you pass the exams. You should do the reading dor the class, but the notes you take in class will be of most value come exam time.
Hist of European Nationalism. Real funny/quirky guy. Polish accent isn't something to worry about. Short papers, self explanatory tests, and the possibility to vote for your own participation grade at the end made the class fun. Really worth taking, wont regret it. Has some cool stories about growing up in Poland too
He's a great professor! His class is tons of fun to attend, you really learn a lot about the topic because he really knows how to get the students' interest. Don't have to do all the reading and you can still get a good grade in the class, just pay attention. Def. will take him again if I can!
What a good guy. Keeps the class's interest, great examples, clear-cut tests. Funny Polish accent. Gotta love it.
Excellent professor with a smooth delivery, interesting accent and a wealthy knowledge base. He remembers extremely interesting and insightful/funny little nuances about history like a good history professor should and he's most importantly clear and concise in what he expects out of his students and the structure of his teaching method. Great guy.
It might seem like there is a ton of work to do for his classes, but it really isn't bad. He is a very fair grader. Whatever he teaches he makes very interesting and he is so knowledgeable about Eastern European History. Take him. He is one of the few quality history Professors at Loyola
I had trouble with his accent and exam questions, but these problems were unique to me, and probably more my fault than Dr. Suzko. He's really nice, an interesting lecturer, and gives you a lot of opportunities to succeed in class. He is also a very far grader even when his questions are ambigous. I highly reccomend him.
Great professor. I would definitely take him again. Most of his students take him for multiple courses. He is funny, and clear in lectures, thus, i never wanted to miss class.
Awesome professor, really knows his stuff. He gets off on really interesting tangents. Tests aren't bad, just fill memorize everything on the study guides. Kind of a tough grader on papers, but overall--super awesome. Definitely take him.
Great guy. He really knows his stuff and he's an easy grader. I've taken him for three classes and will take him again if I can. You'll get an A if you try a bit.
I had him for two classes one year. If you need European history take him! He is fun and enthusiastic.
Really good teacher. :)
Good Professor. Only thing I don't like is the way participation is graded, but otherwise the class is great. 2 tests, which he gives study guides for. The key to doing well is doing the study guide and memorizing it. Papers are not bad since they are short.
He is a GOOD PROFESSOR. Not an EASY A class. Has to work hard for an A. Easy A- class though. 2 Exams. IDs and essays Qs. He gives Study guide for the exam. Make the study group and divide the Qs of SG and it will be easier for you. There are 2 short essays and 1 "big" essay. Participation is MUST. TAKE HIM IF YOU CAN!!!
Incredibly strict grader. Study guide is given for test but you still a ton of info you have to know. Don't take, really boring as well.
Amazing professor, has been through a lifetime of hard-work and experience, optimizes teaching materials, and has an outcasted yet very intellectual viewpoint on modern politics, nationalism, and society. Highly recommended for Eastern European history for both undergrad and grad students!
Awesome professor!! The class isn't extremely interesting but he has a really interesting perspective on history and politics. Dont miss more than 2 classes and participate in class. have to work pretty hard for an A but its not that difficult of a class. Definitely take it if you need a history or WI core!
Professor Suszko is awesome. Hist of Poland wasn't necessarily something I was dying to learn about, but ended up enjoying the class. He combines and connects ideas in a way that the lectures aren't dull and boring. The tests aren't hard because he gives you the essay questions beforehand. One of Loyola's finest.
You'll enjoy learning from him, but you will also be examined on material not covered in the reading and lecture which isn't really fair. The reading by the way is gargantuan. I was only able to do it because it was my only class and even that it was a struggle. Larger readings are ridicolously placed at the end of term.
Great professor!! Lectures aren't always the most interesting, but this guy really knows his stuff. Incredibly personable and willing to answer any questions you may have. 2 two page papers and 2 six page papers; the minimum for a writing intensive. Isn't a harsh grader, and gives you essay questions in advance for the exams. Highly recommend
He's a funny guy and the class is fairly easy. I didn't do a single reading up to the first mid term, I only used the study guide and got an A. It's a fun class and he's a fun teacher.
He is such a fun professor! He always made me laugh and made the topics really interesting. I'm not a big fan of history but what we learned about was actually pretty cool. Really great guy & great class. But you do have to read!
Suszko is a very fun professor, full of interesting stories. It's not an easy A, so you actually have to study when tests come around. He requires you to argue your participation grade and gives several opportunities to submit papers on great books (All Quiet, Candide). Overall I'd recommend him for History 102.
Suszko is awesome, one of my favorite teachers at Loyola. I would recommend him to anyone freshman through senior not matter their major.
This was my second class with Professor Suszko, and if I could take him again I would in a heartbeat. Hands down my favorite professor at Loyola. He is intelligent, clear, and cares about his students. His grading scale is fair and he throws no curveballs at you. If you need a history class take him you will not be disappointed!
Really cool and nice dude. He assigns a ridiculous amount of textbook reading, but you can get by fine without doing it (I stopped reading the book a month into the semester). Lectures can be a bit dry but nothing too bad. Tests are insane though. All written (blue book) and if you want an A on it be prepared to study nonstop for at least 3 days.
Marek is an amazing professor. I am not someone who typically likes learning about history, but he has made me very interested in it. He is the sweetest man and is a very passionate professor. Everything that is expected of you regarding your grade is made very clear. The course load is quite a bit to keep up with, but he makes it very interesting.
Suszko is a decent professor considering this is History 102. The midterm and the final are just pure memorization of the study guide (i.e. he picks 20 terms of 50, and 4 of 8 essays; you pick 5 terms and 1 essay). The writing assignments aren't bad, there is an oral presentation that is super easy too. Just show up to class, it counts.
Had him for HST341 Rise and Fall of the Soviet Union. Great prof. He is incredibly interesting, makes class fun, and really knows what he's talking about. He is also very funny. The class was pretty easy and straightforward. However, you must read and pay attention.
I took History 102 with him to complete the core, and recently declared a minor in History because of this guy. He's such an interesting professor, and makes history so much fun. Class consists of 2 very easy exams and 2 essays. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED TO ANYBODY.
Take him!
He makes it relatively easy to do well in his class. You have one short paper (2 pages) and one medium length paper (6 pages) both are reviews on documents. The midterm and final are essay questions, he gives options that you pick from. Initially the exams seem really intimidating but as long as you study, he grades fairly. Definitely recommend!
Bizarre experience - Professor is very kind and caring and an easy grader BUT this class had the most reading assigned (plus papers to write) than any other class I've had in my life. Everyone was blowing it off. I totally regret taking it. Not my favorite history professor, not bad, but avoid age of absolutism and enlightenment at all cost!
Maren in the man! You need to show up everyday, participate, but other than that he is the man. He's so funny and cares about his students. Two tests, two papers, presentation, and a lil more, but very straightforward. He is the best and if you have an opportunity to take him, take him!
Marek is so funny and one of my favorite professors I've ever had at Loyola. I'm a history minor so I was a little bummed when the only class I could get into was 102 instead of something higher, but he made me enjoy it so much, study hard for the tests and you will do well, I would take him again!
Such a sweet and hilarious man who truly cares about his students. He is very straightforward with his expectations and grades fairly. His tests are not difficult but require a lot of preparation so start early!!
This man is fantastic! He is so funny and really does care about his students. He grades fairly and gives study guides for exams. I usually don't like history, but this class had me engaged in the material, and Marek was huge part of that!
By far the most insanely sincere man you could ever meet. Have to put in a little work for a solid A but nothing crazy. Midterm and final short essays and identifications which you receive a study guide for. 1 short paper. 1 longer book review. 1 easy 5 min oral presentation. 10% for showing up and participating. Must prepare for exams to succeed.
I loved this class so much! His lectures were very intriguing and Marek is honestly an amazing professor. The tests are PURE memorization, so make sure you study for at least a few days. Use the study guide. I learned so so much! You'll be grateful you took this class. the class does seem a little intimidating in the beginning, though.
Dr. Suszko is such an amazing prof! He definitely knows what he's teaching his students. He only gives 2 papers, 2 exams, and an overall participation grade though the whole year. He also adds humor in his lectures. I would def take him again!
Seems intimidating, but he cares about his students. Adds humor within his lectures, but it's a lot of knowledge to learn. He knows everything he teaches well but almost expects his students to be at the same level himself. Very tough paper grader. Midterm and Final have study guides... YOU NEED TO STUDY A LOT for it. Straight memorization.
As a person he is really nice and caring but as a teacher he is hard. Assigns a ton of reading and weekly quizzes. Disliked the lectures because it is very dry and verbal; powerpoints are with very limited informantion. Also a tough grader.
There was 2 papers, an easy oral presentation (I did mine the night before lol), and 3 tests including the final. Honestly, I'm a terrible student but I ended up doing well in the class. You can tell he really cares about his students and he knows his stuff in history. You're in good hands!
Two papers, which I believe he grades a little harshly but nothing too bad. There were a midterm and final exam, this was pure memorization and I recommend starting to study a week before the exam. Participation matters and you also give a small presentation, just go up there and you will be fine. Great professor and sincere man! Strongly recommend
he is my favorite professor I have taken at Loyola. he is so passionate about what he teaches and an amazing lecturer. he really wants to see his students succeed. the glass is graded on only a midterm, final, quick presentation, one long paper, and one short paper so its easy to lose points, but he is very clear on what he expects and very fair.
He is such a good professor! History has never been my thing, but im glad I took his class! He is so sweet and cares for his students. There is a midterm, final, short paper, long paper, and small presentation. He gives you a study guide for both the final and the midterm!! Participation does count so show up to class. 10/10 recommend!!
Dr. Suszko is the kindest and most compassionate professor Ive ever had. He understands that students have lives outside of his class and things happen - he really wants you to do well. There are 2 exams, 2 papers, and a presentation. If you dont do well on the papers you have a second chance to get a better grade. He is also hilarious.
He is one of the most caring and funny professors I've ever had. His lectures are engaging and insightful with details about Europe from an insiders perspective. Your grade consists of two papers--both analyzing primary sources, short oral presentation, midterm, and final. You receive study guides in advance. He will always answer questions.
He's very clear as to what his expectations are, and if you pay attention and take good notes in class, there's no reason you shouldn't get an A.
He's a wonderful professor, his exams are very clear because he offers all the questions to you beforehand. Along with his lectures he always gives advice that relates to a college student, or an observation about modern politics. I definitely recommend taking one of his classes.
One of my favorite professors. Highly suggest attending his lectures if not for the information then for the way he presents it. He always has relatable ways to talk about issues and relate them to modern-day. Midterm and final are easy as he gives you a question bank beforehand, one book review and one shorter paper, short presentation.
Marek is my favorite teacher I have ever taken. His class on the syllabus seems tough but he is a super nice guy so the class isn't too hard. He is hilarious and honestly is such a nice and interesting guy!
Professor Suszko is a solid choice for history if you don't mind a lot of writing. You have to write a short essay (3 pages double spaced), a long essay (4-6 pages), and an oral presentation. He also has a midterm and final exam where you get 6 essays beforehand. Then he selects 4 of them on exam day and you submit 2 of them. He is a clear grader.
LOVED Suszko!! One short paper, one longer paper, and a group project. He gives u multiple options for things to write about and due dates, so u can fit the class to ur schedule. (I'd recommend doing them all early and then stop reading the hw). Midterm and final were essays he sent out ahead of time, so u just had to copy and paste.
Prof Suszko was amazing! The class was by far my easiest class of the semester. We had group quizzes every week based on our readings, and then 4 short reflections along with a midterm and final which were 2 essays each. He's super nice and is very reasonable about the amount of work the class is, especially being online. Definitely recommend
Prof. Suszko is one of my favorite professors at Loyola. He is very clear about his expectations, and he doesn't overload you with homework. There are (easy) group quizzes once a week over the readings. The midterm and final are both 2 essays out of the 4 essays he gives you on the study guide. Easy class and a great professor.
AVOID
If you're looking for a blow-off HIST course, AVOID! He wants his students to learn and understand the material, which he does a great job of doing, but you gotta work for it. Lectures can be dry, but I was able to get by without the textbook by going to class. Suszko REALLY cares about students and is extremely knowledgeable, super sweet guy.
Dr. Suszko has pretty dry lectures but is able to teach his students through his assignments, which (online) consisted of one short review and one book review, along with 2 exams, each 2 questions each. He sends the exam prompts out before hand and allows you to write before the exam time. WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND.
Marek's class is one of the best I've taken in a while. It was my first class at Loyola as a transfer ( I took it in the summer) and it was awesome. I learned so much from him! His lectures are super thorough and he's such an interesting person. His writing assignments are confusing at first but once you figure it out they are easy. Take his class!
Prof Susko was nice, but that aside, all we did on a day-to-day basis was take lecture notes on the presentations. Granted,he was thorough with presenting, but it was always just sitting and writing, which made it difficult to actually learn anything(not a single class activity). When it came to papers,he was a VERY tough grader(almost rude at times)
This class is only out of 100 points so there is little room for error. It is based on an oral presentation, 2 exams, a short paper, a long paper, and participation. He is a very harsh grader on papers. He is very specific about what he wants. However, he is very nice and wholesome. I would recommend if you are willing to put in the work.
I'm not a history person but enjoyed his class! Class is super chill with only 2 papers and a presentation. The midterm and final are writing essays and he gives you the prompts a month beforehand to prepare. He likes to talk a lot though and often will keep you over class. Be prepared to take notes because his slides aren't super helpful.
He is a nice but strict prof. For final/midterm, you have to write 4-5 essays and only 2 will be graded, which is the only con side of the class. You have a mini essay and a semi big essay to write. Daily class is nice, not a popcorn caller, pretty chill, very passionate about hist. Particular but considerate about grading.
Prof. Suszko is awesome! Everyday I look forward to class, because there really isn't much pressure in his teaching atmosphere. Prof. Suszko is very passionate and explains a lot, (his lectures may be much for some), but he has a very forgiving grading style and you are graded by 2 papers, a midterm, and final. He is funny and very sweet; take him!
Loved his class! It's lecture heavy so if you don't like that maybe don't take him, but I think they were super interesting! You're graded by two essays, a midterm, a final, and a presentation. Overall, I think he's a really nice guy who really cares about what he teaches and wants all of his students to succeed.
Professor Suszko was so sweet!! I would definitely take him again even though his lectures could be long and a little boring If you have no interesting in history. He was an easy grader and you get the exam questions before the midterm and final. He takes participation so make sure to go to class if you don't have an excuse. Easy A and super nice!
He is the best prof I have had this year. Super easy grader. It was my blow off class. He is also super nice
He is such a nice guy and wants the best for each student: all assignments are online and he is a very light grader. 100% would recommend!
Great professor for HIST core requirement. A few projects/papers throughout the semester but pretty easy as long as you go to class and read a little bit. A few extra credit opportunities throughout the semester. Cares about his students success both in his classroom and outside of it! Overall a great professor and would definitely take him again!
this professor is so great!! I haven't yet received a grade by him, but not too work heavy and ultimately a good time.
Professor Susko is very smart and kind. There is not too much homework, but it is important to keep track of the few assignments there are (a few papers and an oral presentation). I really do not enjoy European history but Professor Susko made it interesting and I would take him again if I could!
Prof. Suszko is very nice and cares about the subject. It is lecture heavy, but very interesting even if you aren't that into history. You're graded on midterm, final, 1 oral presentation, 2 papers. There are opportunities for extra credit and he allows you to edit your papers after he grades them for a better score. Would definitely take again.
Prof. Suszko is such a sweet and understanding person. The class is very lecture heavy but he tries to make them interesting. Graded on only 2 essays, 1 group oral presentation, midterm and final that are both take home essays (he gives you 5 prompts, picks 3 the day of the exam and you have to submit 2 papers). Can be a really essay grader!!
Very knowledgeable professor. Grade is 1 long paper, 1 short paper, 1 group presentation, midterm, and final. Everything is given in advance, and you get to pick from a few dates for all his assignments. Just do the work, pay attention and you will get an A. He really loves his job and has a lot of cool stories about his time growing up in Poland.
Very kind professor. Classes are just lectures. You can skip 2 classes unexcused but any after you get marked for participation. Assignments are all essays. 1 short review, 1 book report, midterm, and final. All spread out over semester. Incorporates personal experience into course material. Take if you like writing.
This class was easy: one long paper, one short paper, 2 tests (essays with prompts given ahead of time), one partner presentation, and attendance. He is an interesting lecturer. The class was a good workload for a core class.
Prof. Suszko is hands down the best history professor at Loyola !!!!!
I took this class as an online summer class. Even tough the class was via zoom, professor Suszko still found a way to explain the topics in an interesting way. Most of the assignments are essays but overall it is a pretty easy class. He is super caring and understanding. Take him if you have the chance!
Love him! He is the best professor I've ever had. He does care about participation but there are so many chances for extra credit. He has a great sense of humor and he's very caring, loved all of his classes. Please consider him if you're going to take HIST he's the best.
Prof. Suszko was one of my favorite professors last year! He was very kind and had such interesting stories about growing up in Europe. He is passionate about history and makes the lectures fun. There were a few papers to write but for the two Exams you basically just had to summarize/analyze what you learned. And he gives great feedback!
Dr. Suszko is a very caring professor. He is very knowledgable about the subject and has a lot of personal connections to the material, which makes the class interesting. He tries his best to make light of heavy topics, and can be funny. He is very clear about what he expects, and overall, the class wasn't difficult as long as you do your work.
I wish he could teach every one of my classes. He is an amazing teacher. He makes his grading criteria so clear and gives the best feedback I've ever seen on essays. There are only 6 grades in this class. 2 papers, 1 presentation, mid-term, final, participation. He allows you to rewrite the papers after he gives feedback. He is amazing, take him.
Easiest history professor, he's very kind and understanding. His lectures can be a bit boring but his class is one of the easiest to follow along. 1 short paper, 1 longer paper, 1 small group project, and 2 tests. Plus extra credit opportunities. Highly recommend his class
Kind man who has interesting perspectives on European history as an immigrant himself. The class grade is made up of 2 papers, 1 presentation, 2 exams. Exams are hard!!! You get choices for what to write essays on with different due dates. Presentation was easy and essays were graded fairly; you get to do corrections on essays for a better score.
Suszko is a great person, he's pretty cool when the class actually participates. Exams are pretty difficult. Lectures are long and very boring if you aren't a "history" kinda person. You do have to read a book and write a paper on it, but it isn't very difficult. 1 presentation with a partner. He also offers extra credit and corrections for papers
Professor Suszko is such a great professor. Very easy class all it is is 2 papers, 1 partner presentation and 2 exams. He gives great feedback on the papers and you can resubmit them to get points back. Lots of extra credit opportunities as well. His exams are super easy. Overall, a really nice man who shares lots of interesting personal stories
He was very funny and caring for his students, however, this class/your grade is based on papers. He will tell you to buy 2 books but in reality, you only need to buy one bc you are gonna be using it for your paper(Sources of Western book/the yellow one). He grades fast and lets you resubmit your papers after he grades so you can boost your grade.
Love him! He lectures as though he's telling a story which keeps even non-"history" students entertained. I feel like I've learned so much from him. He offers extra credit, quickly grades papers with helpful edits, and is genuinely so kind. Tests are very detailed so can feel hard, but his provided study guides are great.
Best history professor!! Professor Suszko is super kind and wants you to succeed. He is a fairly difficult grader for papers, but it helps a ton if you go to office hours to have him proofread. There are two papers, one group project, and a midterm/final. I am not super interested in history but I LOVED this class.
HIST 316, not 317) I love Prof Suszko! He is so funny and so kind and he made every class entertaining. If you pay attention and do the readings, you will have no problem passing. He truly cares about his students and is always ready to help. He is also an EXTREMELY fast grader, I am still in shock about how quickly I got some of my papers back
This was a very good professor and he really cares about his students succeeding. His class was difficult but that was because the course itself consists of difficult material, however he makes it easier by being straightforward with his students of what they need to do to succeed. As long as you attend class and pay attention you'll be good.
Makes hist like a story which I love! 2 papers but you can revise them for a higher grade & 2 exams. Class total is out of 100 pts which means each pt is a pt. I did have to study for this class a bit but it was always the day before exams & I did very well.
Dr. Suszko is the best! He's such a sweet man who is very passionate about history. 2 papers, 1 can be revised. He can be a tough grader for essays but I'm telling you GO TO HIS OFFICE HOURS! He offers so much help and gives you cookies it's great. Exams aren't too bad. Attendance is mandatory but you get points for it. Take him!!
Professor Suszko is great! Only 2 tests (midterm + final), 2 papers (which he lets you resubmit), one presentation (with a partner), and extra credit! Classes are lectures, minimal discussions. Reading is assigned for every class but is very light. Prof Suszko is so sweet and very understanding. Go to his office hours he is always willing to help!
If you have any chance to take Dr. Suszko absolutely take his class! His lectures are so interesting and he includes personal stories as well. Very clear grading criteria, two exams and two papers. If you love history this class is definitely for you
Prof Suszko is very kind and caring. Lectures aren't terrible, he throws in personal experiences and jokes, it makes learning history slightly better than usual. Clear standards and feedback, gives you time to revise essays after grading. He is also pretty lenient about attendence, does ask for proof but isn't invasive. So sweet, will miss him fs.
Letsssss goooo Prof Sus is a stud!!! 10/10 don't tweak this is the manz to take, fasho.
TAKE HIM IF YOU CAN !! He's SUPER sweet and tries his best to make the class entertaining bc it's lecture heavy. 2 Exams were chill, half T/F and half is an in class essay, but he tells you the prompts beforehand. Two papers, one presentation and participation points is just attendance. You can tell he really wants everyone to do well!
The sweetest, most passionate professor I have ever seen. He cares so much about his students and always wants to make sure they are passing. Revisions allowed on all papers, midterm and final are the only exams. He tries to make all of his lectures engaging and it is apparent how enthusiastic he is about history. He has great stories and lectures!
Professor Suszko is a sweet professor who does care about his students. Some of his maxims, however, I don't agree with because, as a junior, they really aren't beneficial for freshmen. Besides this though, he's a solid professor but might not be for everyone.
Professor Suszko makes history engaging with his storytelling approach. Though exams can be challenging, his helpful feedback and opportunities for paper revisions make this class worthwhile. unstuck AI proved a valuable study aid alongside the course materials.
100% best professor I've taken for a core. Very clear with grading and what he expects, and although it's a lecture heavy class he keeps it interesting and definitely doesn't just read off slides. If you love history this is definitely the class for you!
Professor Suszko is incredible and he really wants us to be succesful. Class is interesting, it's easy to study for the 2 tests but there is a lot of information, so please, take notes with the Midterm and Final study guides he gives at the start of the semester, it makes it way easier. Tough grader on papers but going to open hours helps. EC
He is a great professor. Attendance is about 10% of your grade, so I think it's best to show up. (plus a good chunk of the exam is base son lec) Graded on 2 exams, 2 papers, a group presentation and attendance. Everything is pretty simple honestly. If you want an easy core that's still interesting, take him.
professor suszko was great. there were two papers, a presentation, the midterm, and final. if you time it right, you can be done with the papers and presentation before midterms. he could be harsh when grading papers, but does give good feedback. make sure to go to class and pay attention to lectures, part of the exams were based on lec
His class is very simple, hes a sweet guy, there was one document review paper, a book review paper, 1 midterm and one final, Everything else is lecture heavy, and he has a thing for technology. Hes a pretty easy professor, and super funny. I enjoyed his lectures, he talks a lot about Poland, and I like that. its all very interesting.
Such an amazing and caring professor. You must listen and take notes during lecture because his slides are quite bare, but they are a privilege to listen to since he is so knowledgeable. Only 2 written assignments required throughout the semester, one 10-minute partner presentation, and two tests including the final. Highly recommend you take him!
Very clear on his in-class expectations. Grades quite hard, but simply a great person. Lectures are engaging as he sometimes provides personal anecdotes relating to the course content. A few writing assignments in the class, but not too overwhelming. If you come to class, take notes on lectures, and complete essays, the class is easy to pass.
Professor Suszko is a top tier professor. He knows this class is a core class and doesn't assign too much work. There's two 3 page papers, a midterm, one group project, and the final. He's super chill but you should show up to class. He has slides but usually will ramble a lot. He also allows you to revise papers if you mess up. Take him!
I took Professor Suszko's class for a history credit. He is a relatively tough grader on papers but gives good feedback. What I did not like about his class is that he rants in lectures and tends to ramble about things not relative to the slides or test material. The exams are medium difficulty.
I could not recommend Dr. Suszko more. He is the sweetest professor you will ever meet. Your grade is made up of 2 papers, 1 partner oral presentation, a midterm and a final. There is a LOT of material so the exams are difficult but there is so much extra credit. If you have no unexcused absences, you get an EC point. He is the absolute best!
Take him for a core class! Its a lecture heavy course, he does his best to make it entertaining telling a lot of personal stories.Your grade consists of 2 papers (He's not as hard of a grader as some say) 2 exams Midterm and final and and oral presentation. He gives numerous extra credit opportunities so take them!
hes so sweet, papers can be hard and the exams are rough ngl but overall he will help you pass
Amazing professor! Made class enjoyable and was very clear on what he expected. Take him if you can!
