She's a wonderful teacher. She really knows what she is teaching and makes you feel very comfortable. Also, my class became very close with each other so it was almost more comfortable to talk with my peers but also it was easier to ask them what we could work on. I highly highly recommend her for any class.

She is a cool teacher and has taught at some other University but this is her first year at Harper and I find her kind of a hard grader. If you keep working hard and improve what she tells you to improve on you will do just fine. Easy to get along with and shes not strict at all. Not a lot of homework. Attend class and ull get a good grade.

I HATE public speaking, but I actually don't dread going to this class. Margaret makes everything very comfortable and open. Some of the in class activities are actually fun. She's pretty funny and easy going. I've learned some great things in this class...she really makes you want to try to do well too! I would definitely recommend her.

This is now my second class with Margaret having taken her 107 last year. She is an amazing person. she makes class fun and is really on the level of the student to their needs and takes an intrest in you. I recomend any class shes teaching cuz youre in for a great time.

I took the blended speech class where the majority of the class was done online and we only had to be at Harper for 5 classes (once a month) to give our speeches. I really liked Margaret. I thought she was funny and she made each class interesting. There was a lot of work that had to be completed though. It was not hard, just time consuming. B

Love her! She is hilarious, and smart, and great at making everyone comfortable with each other. Definitely a favorite teacher! Although the class is challenging, she makes it completely doable and is encouraging. She rocks.

I took her for honors and she is hilarious and extremely helpful. I would love to take another class with her so instead I recommend her to anyone else! The class is speech so if you like to speak, it's pretty easy, and if not, it can be challenging. However she is available for help and tends to respond to e-mail quickly as well!

I loved Margaret! I really enjoyed the class. I took the blended class and it was a lot of work. There were a lot of assignments that kept me busy, but just what I would expect from an online class. She kept class interesting and the grading was very fair. I would definitely recommend taking her, but you will have to work for your grade!

I enjoyed having Margaret for a teacher this summer session. I was in the online blended class and it was a marathon to complete assignments but Margaret was very good at communicating and motivating the class. I recommend her if you are mature enough to know you need to complete your assignments on time and according to directions.

One of the nicest and funniest teachers I've ever had. She's just as immature as all her students (in a good way) so class is always enjoyable. For the first few weeks she does all Ice-breaker activities so that the class gets to know each other very well, that way giving speeches is a lot easier. I highly recommend her.

Great teacher! I was scared of this class but she made it fun! I took the summer 8 week online/in class class so it was paced faster than the regular semester which meant a lot of homework, but as long as you keep up with the work and attend every speech you'll do good!

OK, who likes to take a speech class? Not many. But, if you want to learn much about public speaking, laugh alot and really connect with your peers, Margaret Bilos is the teacher for you. She made it amazingly comfortable for everyone in the class, gives great feedback and you might not end up hating public speeches anymore. Not a bad deal!

Margaret is BY FAR the BEST professor I have had at Harper! I took the 8 wk. blended/online class and it was fast paced but, she sets the course up in a format that makes it easy to improve with each speech. Cannot overstate how amazing this class was! I absolutely hate speech and everything that goes with it, but I have to say I did not dread this class at all and Margaret was extremely helpful and clear. I took the online/blended course, showing up once a month to give a speech. Doesn't get any better than that, and homework is fairly minimal.

Public speaking wrecks havoc with my entire being. That being said, I DID IT, not really well, but I DID IT! All thanks to the excellence of Margaret's teaching and patience. Took her online once a month class. HIGHLY recommended for people who work full time and cant commit to a set class time every single week. She makes speech class fun. I got a high A..even if you are bad at speeches there are so many (easy) built in quizzes and reading responses, you will do just fine!

Took the blended course. All assignments online and speeches in class. As long as you do the assigned work and prepare for your speeches you will be fine. One thing that did bother me was that she took forever to grade assignments, but other than that she was great. She's hilarious too!

Margaret is very enthusiastic, very energetic, and makes you feel comfortable in her class. Took her online class- we met once a month to give a speech. She has an ability to make you laugh out loud and feel comfortable. I learned to gain confidence in public speaking. She made the environment warm and inviting. I had a panic attack before giving my final speech and didn't come to class- she let me film myself at home and send it to her.

I was dreading having to take Speech, but Margaret made it really enjoyable. It was a really comfortable atmosphere, and that's coming from someone that HATES speaking in front of others. She expects you to work hard, but is a fair grader.

She made the class I was terrified to take bearable. I took it online, so there was a lot of written work, but it wasn't too hard. She gives great feedback in a way that doesn't crush your spirits!

Margaret was a wonderful professor! I took her Advanced Speech class and received an A. She let us turn in late work for partial credit, had I not been able to do this I would have ended with a B or possibly a C as my final grade. She's laid back and wants her students to pass. Show up, participate, and put some effort into your speeches for an A!

I took this class during the summer - it was A LOT of work! You only go to class 4 times to present your speeches. Margaret cares a lot about her students and wants you to succeed. She is super fun! I was very nervous when presenting and still got A's on my speeches. This class is easy as long as you take the time to do the work! And PRACTICE!

Mrs. Bilos was my favorite teacher at Harper. As usual, I was nervous taking my first college speech class. However, she made it so enjoyable and I was so at ease the whole time. I took the online version of SPE101, thus, only meeting once a month, and I looked forward to the monthly speech giving classes. Last day of class, bought pizza for us!

She is supportive and kind to students who are terrified of public speaking, while still pushing us to actually speak. I took this class a few years ago and I'd say it was one of the most helpful courses I took at Harper. Bilos was a great speech 101 professor. I can tell she cares about our class, even though it is online and she has a very straightforward syllabus. I took this class online. Margaret was a fair grader she wasn't a tough grader on speeches as long as you tried she will give you a good grade. for the concept units each week it was a lot of reading and videos and there was quizzes at the end too. for the speeches you meet once a month to give your speech.

She was a super nice teacher, but Blackboard was nearly unusable (it was super difficult to navigate). She's very kind with grading though and makes every topic interesting!

Margaret sets clear expectations of what should be achieved in class, gives valuable lectures, and is a very kind professor. For a speech class, she will gently push you outside your comfort zone and ultimately shape you into a better speaker. Most everyone receives A or B grades, but you will have to earn it.

If you're deciding between what speech class to take.. take hers! DO IT. I've heard people say her speeches were very flexible with topics and it's true! My friends had other professors who made you write papers but she doesn't at all, and I learned so much from this course. She's very friendly and loves her job and truly cares about her students.

Best speech Professor on the planet! Blackboard is set up clearly. Each week has an assignment list, so you know what to turn in and when. The reading quizzes are a little weird, but you can get through them. She really cares about making everyone feel comfortable. She isn't looking for an Oscar performance, but for improvement. Take her class!

Margaret is one of the best professors I have had throughout my educational career. She is passionate, enthusiastic, supportive and incredibly kind. My whole class loves her. Professor Bilos really cares about her students and wants them to improve in speech. Gives you a week to do each assignment and they are all fairly easy to do. As long as you do the work, you will receive an A. Speeches arent too hard but you do have to memorize a few of them. Gives good feedback for your speeches. Take if you can.
