She is my favorite professor. She is laid back, interesting, keeps my attention, she's a GREAT, smart woman, she makes the environment comfortable... she is the perfect teacher. Just participate and listen to her advice and you will do fine.

Dr. Dixon is the best professor I've ever had!!! She is SOOOOOO funny, and she gives you so many chances to get better grades and revise all of your papers. She is a really great professor.

One of my all time favorite teachers. Took the time to get to know her students & to help them outside of class. Gave us many opportunities to fix our papers & get better grades. Not to mention, she's crazy & class was always a blast!

Funny, fun teacher, easy class

Dr. Dixon is an awesome teacher. She is very laid back and has a good sense of humor, although it is difficult to schedule an appointment with her outside of class, but that's just b/c she has a lot of students and takes time one on one with all of them.

Don't get me wrong, Dixon is a great person. Her teaching style, however, is not for me. She always seemed so scattered and not very organized. She would change around due dates (which is not good if you are a procrastinator!) She would be very good at teaching creative writing, but her class did not prepare me for what most profs expect.(MLA,APA?)

Dr. Dixon is awesome. She is really helpful if you put forth the effort and ask her to clarify and participate in class discussions. I learned alot and she gives you chances to revise and rewrite papers with help so you aren't just getting the first grade you recieve. I learned alot of interesting things and she is so cool.

Having her for class is probably the most fun you will ever have in college. If you read what you're supposed to and go to class, you'll do fine. She's awesome and one of the funniest people I've ever met.

She's the kind of teacher that makes you want to be in class, because you never know what you might miss. I spent half the class quoting her in my notes, because she says the most outlandish stuff. TAKE HER if you can.

Dr. Dixon's class is an amazing experience. She encourages class discussion and amuses her students with her witty anecdotes. She got a standing ovation the first day of class this semester. Take her, you won't regret it.

very unconventional. easy class. she does go on tangents, but they can be interesting. highly recommended for honors students who don't want to wirte a ton of essays. ask about the "cult lady."

Dixon is really critical when grading papers but it helps you out so much.

For Eng 21011, papers are on essays written about short stories. She isn't afraid to let you know your writing sucks, but gives great advice on how to become a better writer.

Dixon is unique. No other way to describe it. If you do not have an open mind or can't handle her humor, i suggest not taking the class. I've know her for 2 years and there is never a dull moment with her. She might seem crazy but she knows what she is doing when it comes to writing. You will succeed in her class if you put forth an effort.

Good class experience for her personality and constructive criticism on papers. Her insanity is a result of the absurdity in the world-- something I easily related to.

Come with an open mind and ready to look at things a different way. You will definitely leave as a better writer if you want to improve. If you are easily offended by mature conversation, this prof is probably not for you.

She's one of the most hysterical people I've ever met. Don't take this class if you're easily offended. She will help you to be a better writer, but you take her advise, which can be harsh at times.

She literally missed 15 classes. She's a good writer and truly wants to teach u how to write well, but she doesn't. She rants & is hurtful, bigoted when it comes to religion--but she ultimately has a good heart. She's a walking contradiction. If u sit with her about ur papers, u WILL learn. But u gotta track HER down. U won't learn much in class.

Phenomenal teacher. All the bad reviews come because people are sensitive, and refuse to accept the harsh reality of their inept writing abilities.

If you get easily offended, she is not the teacher for you. She spends 90% of the class talking about random things and not about writing. She is very good at editing papers and will help you if you need it. You only have to write 2 or 3 papers for the semester. Overall, I didn't learn much except that she is crazy.

A hilareous person, and if you get on her good side you will have nothing to worry about the whole semester. Do something wrong, and she will hold a grudge. Knows what she wants and makes sure you know it too. She is funny, and makes class interesting, but gets sidetracked extremely easy. Will ONLY take english with her from now on.

Dixon is a nut, but in a good way. You only end up writing 2 papers or so, but you revise each one 4 or 5 times. INFACT she lets you revise them until you have the grade you want. BUT if you don't do the work you will fail. You literally either get an A in the class or an F....if you end up with an F the you didn't go to class or do the work.

The class is easy. The class is largely discussion based, so it's a good idea to participate. We write a few essays. Essays are about quality not quantity; all about revision. No doubt she's the best essay grader on campus. She is a great teacher, down to earth. Just be respectful to her opinions, and you will have a great time in her class!

Dr. Dixon is not a bad prof who teaches only her way of writing. She teaches writing the way all of the professors want papers written. I took both CW I & II with Dr. Dixon. I have 4 A's on 4 essays from prof in 4 fields in both upper and lower division courses because I wrote the essays as Dr. Dixon taught. I say meet her and decide for yourself.

I enjoyed the class mostly because it was class discussions every class. My only complaint about the class was the lack of organization because I never knew when anything was due.

I absolutely adore Dr. Dixon. I definitely understand that not everyone would like her, but when it comes down to it, if you are not easily offended and enjoy a class where you're comfortable, take her. She is the professor I ask for all my recommendations and letters for things - she is truly helpful. Meet her and make your own decision.

Amazing teacher. You'll only get through about one or two papers a semester, but she's awesome and revises them until you get the grade you want!! Just attend class!! Don't be stupid and skip, that's the one thing she does care about is attendance.

I adore Dr. Dixon. She may be unorthodox, but she actually does know a lot about good writing and will teach you how to write well. You'll learn more if you meet with her to revise outside of class. She is very helpful. Her humor is not for the easily offended, but she is hilarious. I would take any class with her.

I might be in love with this woman. She is literally the funniest, most outrageous person I have ever met. I refuse to take College Writing 2 until I get her as my professor again.

She is hilarious to listen to and makes it fun to go to class, however it's her way or the highway for writing papers. F's and D's everywhere. If your goal is to focus on more than one class a semester I recommend taking another professor. It;s a time-intensive class for writing meaningless papers

I hate to love this woman. I got four failing grades on my paper and it drove me nuts but I worked until I got to a B before final draft. I had to partially relearn to write. She gives you guide lines that are permanent and if you do not follow you will not fair well. Reads every word. VERY OUTGOING, she will say whatever she wants. I learned alot.

She's definitely not a professor you will soon forget. She's very specific about what she wants, and you either do it or fail. She's a tough grader, but her classes are always fun and she ultimately will teach you how to be a better writer if you're willing to allow her to do so.

At the beginning of the course I was tempted to drop out because she has absolutely NO FILTER for her thoughts but by the end I really liked her and learned a lot. Really easy. If you show her you care she will let you rewrite your essays until you get the grade you want. She appreciates genuine interest. Often goes off on tangents.

Dixon was the best professor I had in my undergrad. You only have 1 or 2 papers a semester, but they are intense, she tears them apart, but as long as you submit them early, she lets you rewrite them until you get an A! As long as you don't miss more than 2 classes, you should be able to EASILY get an A

I love her beyond belief. She is very disorganized and falls off topic often but still love her to death. She knows what she is talking about when it comes to papers.

She is amazing. I had 3 papers and they were 2 pages each. She gets off topic but still the class is an A.

I had Dixon for college Writing II, and it was great! She only assigned three papers the entire semester and gave them back with detailed points on what to improve on. She is very willing to help in any way that she can. There are no textbooks as well. She loves telling hysterical stories . I would recommend this class to everybody.

I loved this class. Dixon knows what she is talking about. If you show her that you are really trying then she will help your grade out. Love her to death. She may fall off topic quite a bit, well most every class, but it is still interesting when she tells her stories. Awesome Professor.

If you're a strong Type-A personality or are easily offended, she is not the teacher for you. But if you like to have a good time, and can handle the fact that you'll never see a course syllabus, her class can be a great intermission in an otherwise stressful schedule.

Let me tell you about Margaret Dixon. Some people might not like her because they say she's not a good professor. Well those people have no sense of humor. She picks on you just for fun, not to hurt you. Only had 2 essays, she's not tech savy. She's inspirational, there to help, & tells you what to change in your papers, occasionally cancels class.

Margaret is fantastic! She's there to help you; although she might pick on you, but some people have no sense of humor & don't like her for this. Only had 2 essays, she claims to be retiring after many many years at Kent. She literally tells you what to change in your essays, easy A. DO take class with her if you have the chance!!
