wow, very hard, but very informative. she does not take any crap from students. earn her respect and well, u are an outstanding human being. her course on motivation was probably one of the most helpful and informative courses at towson for psychology.
Tough class. Great teacher. Rewards you for thinking - rather than just blindly following her lead. Other profs. should pay attention to her example.
Great lady. Gives you crib sheets for exams! Bless her heart. Plus, she lets you write your interpretations on the back on the tests, and gives opportunities to recoup points if you screw up. Plus, she's alot of fun.
Pretty difficult material, but she makes it fun and interesting. I wish she taught other classes so that I could take another class of hers.
she's awesome. She wants everyone to learn the material, not just memorize, and she lets you correct exams for some extra points so you know your stuff. The most interesting class I've taken here, you learn a lot. Other profs should follow her great lead!
wow what an interesting person. she is a lot of fun but talks fast, uses big words and expects you to keep up. No real work to do. only three tests and she lets you make the tests up for extra points!
Such a sweet lady, claims tests are hard, but they are easy as long as you study and go to class. Take her if you want to have fun and learn!
great teacher very interesting class. somewhat difficult, but she is a wonderful choice for any subject.
One of the best I have had. She is really interested that you LEARN the material and uses real-world examples to facilitate it. Her tests are only easy if you care enough to study and be an active participant in class. She knows if you don't bother to show up and it is reflected in her attitude towards you, but if you do your part she does hers.
Amazing prof- the best i ever had. makes the material interesting- the Stress Response test is HARD! STUDY LOTS!
Love her, her knowledge and enthusiasm for the subject makes it a very enjoyable class. Her stories are hilarious.
quite possibly the worst teacher ever. We were supposed to take the first test on chapters 1-4. by the time we got to the second test, which was supposed to be chapters 5-8, we had not even finished chapter 4!! she's interesting in a weird way though. i don't recommend this woman at all. AND she's very repetative, which i think is annoying
GREAT woman...very knowledgable and she relates well with you in class. adds real life examples to make it interesting. good movies to drive the point home...i don't know what the idiot before me was talking about in their ratings, im not sure they got the right woman in mind!!
Amazing professor. Shows videos in class, which you can also view online at home; they deff. help! She encourages discuss and questions. Tests are straight forward. Highly recommend.
Great teacher! She knows her stuff..Makes class fun..really teaches you what you need know and you actually learn a lot...Definately take all of her classes
Nice teacher. Very helpful. Wants students to understand material. Brought her dog into class to help learn conditioning! Doesn't give good notes so you MUST read the book to do well on tests.
great!! very fair grader, tests are sooo easy, easily passed without studying. Reading the book really does help clear up lectures, so make sure you buy it.
Great professor. She has great stories, and her lectures are interesting and thought engaging! Tests are straight forward, she tells you what you need to know for the tests. Gives extra credit too! Love her! Best professor at Towson!
Great teacher, fun, and engaging. Gives a ton of extra credit on all tests. Make sure you buy the book to help you study tho, lectures can be a bit hard to follow.
This class is interesting and she is a very nice professor. My class was behind though and you do have to read through the text as well as notes for the tests, which arent extremely difficult. I would recommend! :)
Great class, very intrusting subject matter and she gives enjoyable lectures. Make sure you read the book and study for the test because they can be difficult but it is a worth while class. One of the best professors at towson!
she jumped around in her lectures, but once you figure out what she was talking about its not too bad. there are 2 tests plus the final. tests were kind of hard - must read the book! if you need a very structured class, this one isnt for you.
Decent class.....Very helpful professor if you approach her for her help. And yes, even if you are a SPMGT major, you can achieve an "A". However, this is not a class that's going to be a cake walk. Consider another class if your not willing to put in some work though.
Superb teacher. Learned a ton, fun, very helpful, great sense of humor and extraordinary ability to make class meaningful and useful
THE MOST AMAZING TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD AT TOWSON... if you can help it, take her for anything you can, even if it is a Friday class, she is so helpful, and all you have to do is listen in class and you can pull off a B in the class...
Professor Faulkner is fantastic! She truly wants to see her students succeed (and although she maintains high expectations) she provides every opportunity for her students to do so. She is a very dynamic, intelligent, and open-minded individual, which makes for a perfect professor! Take her!!!!
Such a hard class! Difficult info and prof makes you feel dumb.
Great professor! Very clear, extremely helpful, fair. Material is very difficult but she makes it so understandable. She is great, take her if you can, you won't be sorry.
She is terrific! Knows the stuff, warm and engaging. Kocks herself out to help. Take this class if you want to learn and enjoy doing it.
The class was fantastic! You will LOVE this instructor.
She is AMAZING! She absolutely loves what she does and makes you love it as well. She is also very funny and helpful. I would recommend her to anyone wanting to take psych.
She was great. She was really helpful and understanding and made learning psychology extremely fun. I will have for any other class any other day.
I love her! Take her class!
AMAZING. i loved her. my favorite professor of all time. tests are NOT hard. just study a bit & read the book. shes really an amazing lady, very interesting & she relates the subject to real life.
Dr. Faulkner is pretty intimidating at first but after a couple weeks her true colors showed. Shes an awesome and down to earth teacher and Im so glad I took her. You definitely need to study and read for exams to do well but other than that the class wasnt all that bad to come to three times a week. I definitely recommend this class!! =)
Take her class, she is great.Very helpful, tests are hard, but with curve so you can still get a good grade if you try hard. She is wonderful.
Faulkner is awesome! Doesn't go into too much detail. Very clear as to what she expects. Gives you study guides, tells you whats on the exam exactly, and even lets you use an index card with your own notes for the test. Very down to earth and helpful. TAKE HER CLASS!!!
this woman is amazing. told us exactly what we needed to know on exams & was just overall a very pleasant woman. she's also incredibly hilarious & i really enjoyed taking a class with her.
awesome professor. tells you exactly what you need to know for the test, she takes attendance but her class is always interesting you will actually enjoy going and shes really funny
Shes amazing, take her! I studied 3 or 4 days before the test and I got an A!!
Took her 315 & 317 over the summer & I don't know why people are giving her rave ratings. This witch is CRAZY! Don't take her for 317 because she even says that's not her field so if you're confused about something, she probably is too. Doesn't give you enough time to finish assignments. AVOID!
She is very clear, very helpful if you do your homework.Devotes class time to study guide review. This is a very hard course and Dr. Faulkner makes it both understandable and fun. Great class!
so hot
She is a great teacher!! Her class was so fun and she was hilarious..she always kept our class laughing. Tests are not to hard, I got B's on them and I studied the night before. Would definitely recommend!
SHE MADE CLASS FUN AND INTERESTING. FUNNY IS EVER, SHE REALLY GOT YOUR ATTENTION. TEST ARE NOT HARD JUST STUDY AND YOU WILL DO WELL. EXTRA 5POINTS DO A RESEARCH STUDY AND THEN 10 POINTS ADDED TO YOUR GRADE FOR INTERVIEW QUESTIONS. OVEERALL GREAT PROFESSOR WOULD TAKE HER AGAIN.
Hard material but if you read and study, show that you care, you should get an A. She is my fav psychology professor. She lets you have a notecard for the test. Shes always there to help! Make sure you go to class, if you go everyday, you will be satified with your grade. Take Sensation and Perception with her!!!!
Took her "Stress and the MindBody" class over minimester...highly recommended! Totally down to earth and fun professor. She really knows this field and has a passion for it, too. The material covered is so current that there is no textbook - it's all journal articles. If you need a PSYC elective, TAKE THIS CLASS WITH HER!
I want to beher friend. She is funny, smart, interesting, experienced... I wish I could take all my classes with her. Amazing professor! *I forget the section # but I had her for a mini & for Sensation & percep.
Good teacher. Three tests, all pretty easy if you pay attention and read some. Fun and interesting class
ADHD/LD's BEWARE... This professor is incredibly unorganized. She skips from one subject to another. She posts her PP's on Blackboard but hasn't updated them in years. If you have questions she will make fun of you in class and do her best to make you feel like an idiot.
Dr. Faulkner is excellen! The course is very well organized, she has multiple study sessions both in and out of class, lets you bring a notecard to the exams.I am ADHD and she is the best.Have no idea why someone would give her a poor rating. They probably failed the course.
kinda confusing but good class
Tests are relatively easy. You can use 1 3x5 notecard on tests (just type stuff in #5 font, etc...) She is not very good at explaining things clearly. I've taken A&P and Physiological psych, and many things she says are simplified to the point where I see them as incorrect. It can be confusing. Tests are MC with short-answer. You can explain MC.
love her!!!i took her for motivation. she its a wonderful person and a great teacher. her tests are easy. she gives a study guide before each one. on one test we were able to use a 3x5 notecard, and the final was all multiple choice. take her if you have the chance.i hope i can take her again this year
Keeps it interesting. Fun and not too hard.
Can be rude to students and unorganized
very knowledgeable on the subject at hand, willing to help students as much as possible. How she post her studyguides/powerpoint slides on Blackboard is confusing. Her test are not too hard, just complete the study guides and come to class. Enroll in one of her classes if you get the chance, she is a good professor. I got an A- and I am happy :-)
She is nice and funny. Her lectures were interesting- although at times could be a little dry and scatter brained. Two tests and a few minor assignments, extra credit opportunities. Tests can be a bit hard but if you study you should be ok.
2 tests and a final. Extra credit opportunity- DO IT. reading the text is important for doing well on tests. very interesting class and teacher. attend class b/c videos are shown that are not on the powerpoints on Bbd. take her!
She is an AWESOME professor. She really wants you to pass and tries her best to explain things if something isn't understood. She is pretty great!! S&P would be boring without her! Not too much in depth which is great for this class and there is only 2 exams and a final! Study and attend class and you should do great!
WONDERFUL PROFESSOR!! Definitely wants you to pass the course. Doesnt give alot of unnecessary work. Only 3 tests. Always on time and keeps lectures interesting. Shows alot of videos in class which makes it easy to understand. She definitely knows what she's talking about! Extremely helpful in & out of class. Doesn't "spoon-feed" so study on your o
WONDERFUL PROFESSOR!! Definitely wants you to pass the course. Doesn't give alot of unnecessary work. Only 3 tests. Always on time and keeps lectures interesting. She definitely knows what she's talking about & always shows interest in teaching! Doesn't "spoon-feed" so study on your own. Gives extra credit opportunities though. :)
PROFESSOR FAULKNER IS AMAZING! She is very witty and knowledgeable in not only human development but in Motivation. I took her for Human Development and loved her class. Her grading is fair just three tests There is opportunity for extra credit and you can come to her office hours. She is very entertaining to listen to NO DRONING!
She's great! Curves all three tests. Interview worth 10 points. Extra credit available. All powerpoints on BB. Attendance is a sign-in sheet. Shows videos in class that will be on exam though. Buy the book - it will help a lot. Can be a little boring at times but I'd definitely take her again. Very witty and has unique opinions.
She's hilarious! I love her!! Knows the course very well and is a great teacher. Powerpoints are wordy and she skips over a lot of it but just go to class and you'll understand. Curves tests and gives you the chance to explain MC answers to get extra points
I actually liked the class after a while. I got frustrated at first cause she has powerpoints but will skip around or just rant about random things. Shes very entertaining though. She gives you study guides and the book basically gives you the answers so the tests arent hard. Puts large curves on the tests and not a lot of actual work. 3 tests
Awesome, awesome professor. She's entertaining to listen to and the class is actually very interesting. We watch a good deal of interesting videos. Very fair grading: curves the tests and offers extra credit. Definitely take her if you get the chance.
Would not take her again. Does curve tests & give study giude, but the classes are unorganized, hard to follow, and she goes off on rants. Repeats her opinons on unrelated topics a lot. Shows a lot of movies about concepts not even in the book and tests on them. Changed the test format three times. I was bored and had trouble following lectures.
I took this class because I thought it would be interesting but I was wrong. She was extremely unorganized, her lessons were all over the place and painfully boring, and I honestly retained nothing. She did curve, but it didn't help too much. FIND A DIFFERENT PROFESSOR FOR THIS CLASS. DO NOT TAKE FAULKNER.
She is inecredibly enthusiastic about life and calls us out on a lot of our taboos. She explains the material well and gives fair warning about tests.
The absolute only way you will not get an A in this class is if you don't try at all. Completely outlines the exams before you take it. If you take notes from the book and even HALF pay attention during class you will do well. Faulkner is easily one of the best professors in the entire university, not sure what these poor reviews are about.
She is a sweet little lady. Attendance isnt' manadatory and not necessary to get an A if you use the textbook. Cleary outlines exams and tons of extra credit
She is so nice and funny. Gives lots of extra credit and curves exams. Must review the study guide to do well on tests. Lecture notes are not as helpful. You watch videos in class that are on the exam, so it is better if you go to class.
Dr. Faulker is very in tune with human development and does the best job she can with such a vast amount of material to cover. She is very funny and her bluntness about certain topic is even more entertaining. Gives a lot of extra credit and curves tests. Study guides help with test. Go to class and pay attention, you'll do well.
This is a very difficult class, at least for me it is, but it is a requirement so I had to take it, but I am glad I took it with her, it is very boring material and she just kind of reads her power points, but she lets you have a cheat sheet on the 3 tests, I never would have survived without that thing. So if you have to take it, take it with her.
She comes off as a daunting old school teacher, but she is down-to-earth and curves tests. She gives two tests and a final. The tests consists of 50 multiple choice, 10 short answers, and 3 or 5 long answers. She will test you from the videos in lecture, textbook, and power points so pay attention. Overall, I would take her again.
Very nice lady and extremely down to earth. Attendance is definitely not mandatory, you really do not need to be their to pass. She never gives homework, posts all powerpoints to Blackboard, 2 tests and a final, and she curves the tests. The tests are somewhat challenging, but doable because she gives a study guide. Overall a good teacher.
Very nice and helpful, she is also the type of professor that really cares about her students. She is fair in her assignments (not many, usually tests) and grading, and also gives extra credit. As long as you study and attend class you are good to go. Definitely recommend her.
I thought this was a horrible class. All lectures are read off of a powerpoint very quickly and she jumps around a lot with her thought process. Only three tests and one 10 point paper plus extra credit. The tests are extremely hard even with a study guide. I would not take her again.
I would not take again. Tests are written so poorly that she allows you to write an answer if you do not see your answer available on multiple choice questions. Absolutely an excuse for poor test making. Puts multiple right answers as choices too. Felt as if my grade was entirely by chance and I couldn't do anything to predict it. VERY unclear.
She was so discombobulated ALL the time. She was never prepared nor did she really know what she was talking about. She went off on rants for so long that we wouldn't get through the whole lecture. We did 5 chapters this semester when we were supposed to do 10. Tests are hard and long- would not take again.
Many of my friends took this class and said it was much easier than she made it. She is a nice lady but very unorganized and her tests are slightly over the top hard for a 200 level. 3 tests and thats it grade wise. BE PREPAIRED TO STUDY! Wouldn't recommend but its not terrible.
Wonderful professor. Can go on some tangents for a minute, but just ask here a question about the slide-show to get her back on subject. A dark sense of humor that is appreciated. Definitely would take again.
She's an interesting teacher, very knowledgeable and realistic about psychology. Laid back and wants you to do well in class even though attendance isn't mandatory. The tests are kind of difficult though, make sure you study and go to the study sessions.
Dr. Faulkner was an okay professor. She knew her stuff but was disorganized and would go totally off topic at times. lectures were a tad boring. 3 tests and some chances for extra credit and that it for grades. Study sessions with the graduate student was definitely helpful. use the book for the study guides and you're good to go!
She's very sweet and knows a lot about psychology but as a psych major I was afraid the class would bring down my psych GPA because the tests are hard. The material itself is easy but she makes the tests challenging. However she does offer extra credit for like 15 points so thats good!
To be honest, when I realized that she doesn't take attendance for credit I stopped going to the class completely. Only showed up for the exams, and still passed. She's a nice lady, but her lectures are SO BORING and you really don't need to be there at all. If you're someone who likes to skip or can learn by reading a textbook, take this class
Attend class and you will do well. 3 exams but follow the study guide and you will get an A also allows you to defend your answers on test. Extra credit assignment that was very easy. TA was wonderful & did everything possible to ensure that you did well. She has experienced a lot in her life and has the most interesting stories to share.
Dr. Faulkner really is a nice woman, but it's time for her to retire. I enjoyed going to her lectures, but when it came time to take tests, she relies solely on the textbook. Some of the test questions are extremely difficult, and she even argued with our entire class about why her questions were fair, even when we proved her wrong from the book.
So You can pass her class by reading the text book and sticking to the syllabus. I only attended a total of 10 classes for the semester and I got an A in the class because and only because I read the book before very test and did her study guide. She is a great person, and class isn't mandatory. If you read the book and understand you are set
She posts study guides for each exam, class is not mandatory. Read the textbook for each exam and study the terms, and you should do well. The tests are application based using the terms on the study guides. Allows you to defend your answers on the exams.
I do not understand why she has such a hard rating. She is rude and assumes that if you're taking notes on your computer you're not paying attention. Study guides are given for each class but they are just terms and you have to include absolutely everything there is to know about each term. Tests are NOTHING like the study guides or her powerpoints
Professor Faulkner is a good professor. She is funny and makes the class interesting. You don't need the textbook, but it is helpful when studying for her tests. She shows a lot of videos in class and usually includes questions about them in the test, so coming to class is helpful. She doesn't post grades on BB, but you can go to her office.
Her tests are straight from the textbook. The study guides she gives go beyond just the terms, you need to more on the terms. She gives you plenty of opportunities to earn extra credit. Go to class for the videos, because they'll be on the tests. She is funny, so lectures aren't bad at all
Hardest classes I've ever taken. Given study guides but 60% of the information is not on the exam. Read the textbook, material was not on exam. Plenty of chances for extra credit, which I had to rely on to get a B-. TA was super helpful, but study sessions made little difference due to professor's exam. Would help if TA had a copy of the exam.
She is all over the place. you NEED to read the textbook in order to do well. The only good thing she provides is the study guide which prepares you well enough for the exam. As a person she is funny but as a teacher she is not the best. if you are good at reading textbooks, follow pp slides, study guide then this is the class for you.
Going to the lectures are practically useless, but there ARE questions from videos shown in class that pop up on exams. Study the textbook, not your class notes and the videos. She's a strange lady but she loves her job. Theres some extra credit, somehow I got a B on most exams and ended up with an A in the class. As long as you study
2 tests and a final. If you arent good at test taking dont take her. You have to read the textbook or at least go through the words on the study guide. The lectures are all over the place and confusing but the videos she shows in class are on the tests. Theres a 10 point extra credit interview thats very easy and a 5 point review extra credit
Professor Faulkner is a great professor. If you go to class and do notes based on the study guide then you will get an A. Study guides are just like the exam. Go to the study sessions. Got A's and B's on all exams. Really keeps the class interesting and I would take her again! Just wish there were more grades and that she used blackboard
Dr. Faulkner is a spunky and unique individual, but brilliant. I enjoyed and looked forward to going to her class just to hear what she was going to say next. She teaches the material in a way that makes sense, but it helps to have the textbook to follow along. Pay attention to review sessions before tests. Attendance is important.
She's not a boring teacher at all and always tries to engage with the class. The exams are straight forward as long as you read the textbook and often have questions from the practice test or from the videos shown in class. She also has easy extra credits opportunities and helps you when you need it.
Professor Faulkner is a great person. She is so funny and outgoing. The class itself isn't hard at all, but the tests are a bit challenging and are all based on the textbook. The class is based around 3 exams and 2 options for extra credit (not much to base a grade off of). Lectures aren't too boring because she keeps it entertaining.
she's a pretty fun professor. she's 75 and rides her motorcycle and talks about it all the time. she moves through slides pretty fast but posts them online beforehand. only graded on 3 tests and 2 extra credit easy assignments
Your grade is only made up of 3 tests and she offers extra credit. You can't pass these exams without reading the textbook. Her lectures are amazing, funny and keep you entertained. While attendance is not mandatory, she takes it and I recommend you attend because she always includes video content from class in the tests. Take her!
Professor F is a very nice person, but a very bad teacher. Her slides are basically incomprehensible and hardly cover the material that's on the actual exams. She's very forgetful and argumentative, and relies heavily on the textbook and century-old videos she shows in class. Overall, this class way way harder than anticipated. Do not recommend.
Professor Faulkner is a pretty good teacher, shes very knowledgeable on the subject and keeps class interesting. But, this class only has 3 tests and 2 extra credit opportunities. If you dont read the book you wont pass the tests, her slides sometimes are different than the book & marks you wrong on tests if you go by her slides then will argue.
She does take attendance. She gives out a lot of extra credit opportunities.
All of Faulkner's tests are based on what is in the textbook. As long as you do the study guides and read the textbook you should be fine. There are 15 EC points offered, which is nice. Your grade is based on 2 tests and a non-cumulative final. She doesn't use Blackboard. Not the best teacher, but as long as you put in effort the class is easy
I learned more from the textbook than from attending lectures. Half of the test material was not covered in class, and I attended every single one. She uses the excuse that one example was in the textbook and gave questions on documentaries that we never watched with questions that are irrelevant. You can get an A, but I didn't learn. Read the book
She was a very diorganized professor, which I personally never care for which was my biggest complaint for this class. There is a lot of reading to do, but the exams are pretty much straight for the book. After transitioning to online, exams were a piece of cake and the class was super easy.
very easy class but if you want to learn about the subject choose a different professor. lectures are confusing and powerpoints make no sense at times. i preferred to read the textbook in order to learn the information. 3-4 test and an interview, its all super easy.
Very easy A if you fill out the study guides based on the textbook. attendance not part of your grade and the lectures were pointless and confusing aside from some videos she asked questions about on the test. marked a lot incorrectly on the test then yelled at our class for 20 min when we tried to get our points that we earned. wouldn't recommend.
Faulkner was awesome online. She's super sweet and even through she's not great with technology she worked so hard to make the semester go smoothly. She gives 2 easy extra credit opportunities, study guides, etc. You don't need to go to class to get an A. Read the book and do the study guides! Pretty sure she just retired but take her if you can!!
Professor Faulkner is so so nice. She is hilarious and extremely laid back. Minimal work and she is so flexible and very caring.
