This woman is extremely rude and condescending. Although she is a psychologist, she seems more interested in discrediting the subject than teaching about its usefulness.

this class was ridiculous. i've never had a more useless 3 hours a week.

I can't understand why people like this woman. She's definitely the worst professors I've had at BU. If you're going to take forensic psychology, take it with Fleming.

If you thought Feinstein was the worst psych professor at BU, you are in for a shocker. Hagen is one of the single most offensive teachers at BU - she makes claims she can't back up, she poisons her students with ideas that developmental theory and defense mechanisms don't exist. I feel betrayed by my education system because of her bias.

The most torturous easy grade you'll ever receive. Incomprehensible lectures 1x/week and a movie on the other day of class which she more or less puts on to make a mockery of. Asks for opinions, and shoots them down immediately. Also instigates to get kids riled up and passionately speak their minds for inane reasons. And attendance is mandatory.

I thought the class was going to be interesting, but I was wrong. I consider myself a pretty studious student, but I cannot even pay attention in class. SO BORING. The test can be hard if you don't pay attention, which is why I am suffering to study for the exams.

This extremely easy all you have to do is memorize the quizzes and the lectures and your set. The problem come sin when Professor Hagen is the most scatter brained and irresponsible professor I have encountered at BU. For the later half of this semester she has managed to skip out on class and have her grad students teach at the last minute.

Actually the worst professor I've ever had here. Extremely rude, teaches you nothing, and highly unprofessional. Don't take, unless you also think psychology is a myth or abuse is okay. Or if you enjoy watching pointless 80s movies about sexual assault. Oh, and don't bother saying your opinion in class or asking questions--she'll just laugh at you.

Hands down the most ridiculous class I've taken. But if you want to learn about how psychology is a myth or why child abuse is okay, this class is for you.

worst class ive ever taken anywhere she is so unorganised and i havent learned a thing. its all just a bunch of mugging up. dont take this class even if you have to.

She is the worst professor at BU. She makes no sense when she talks and you basically have to teach yourself. You might think it would be an easy A but only grades on exams event though she makes you complete quizzes online - which count for nothing. Don't take this class if you can avoid it. There are much better Psych classes out there.

I rarely write reviews for professors but it is a pain to go to her class. She's very condescending and rude to her students, and you basically have to teach yourself on all the materials because her lecture is so boring that it's hard to stay focus in her class. Def one of the worst psych professor at BU.

watch out and do your background research on this professor! check out her articles she wrote online too. A pretty disorganized professor. If you actually want to learn about criminal justice, dont take this class.

I usually only write good reviews on this site, but I felt compelled to warn future students of this professor... the most biased professor i have ever encountered... also check out the articles she wrote online on ga y and tran s people (spoiler: anyone different from her shouldnt be recognized by science or law)

Watch out at all costs. This professor is rude, condescending, laughs at her students and biased. Do you want a real education on the history and types of critical thinking in forensic psychology? Avoid this class. Ive had to teach myself everything online unfortunately... BU needs to hire someone else who can respect her students...

Halfway through this semester, and I regret taking this class. I feel like my education has betrayed me. The class is so dry its almost painful. I honestly felt bad for Prof. Hagan, but then I read previous comments here and checked out her "articles" online. Wow. I cannot in good conscious allow myself to be taught by someone who discriminates.

The only 2 grades in the classes are the exams and the concepts on those exams are not mentioned in the class (memorize the tb and you'll be fine). I was very disappointed in this class, not much was learned or taught. We watched outdated documentaries and SVU for almost 50% of lectures. I suggest taking a criminal justice class in MET instead.

avoid avoid avoid!! with how much money we spend at BU, this class is nowhere near up to par with actual quality education. Had unorganized classes on Tuesdays, then just watched SVU on Thursday. Im sorry what was I supposed to learn? Grading is tough and doesnt make sense, so stay far far away from this class you want to get a good grade

We had very minimal work and only met twice a week, but watched SVU on Thursdays. would have been an interesting addition to class if Dr. Hagen was a good professor, but she isn't. Plain and simple, the worst Professor I have ever had. I was confused and lost most of the semester, and when I asked peers no one else really knew what was going on.

Professor Hagen is very opinionated. Most of the students are psych majors and she is very dismissive of most psychological concepts (and questions illnesses like PTSD) Tests have almost nothing to do with lecture & the online quizzes are mandatory for the class & count for nothing. Attendance is a (mandatory) waste of time if you have the book.

She is so disorganized this class is a joke. Take something else.

She is chaotic and simply does not know what she is teaching every class (not an exaggeration). We had a substitute professor for one class, and that was the only class I learned anything in this course. She also puts questions in exams with information that were never mentioned in class.

Softspoken and opinionated. Rude, condescending, and unhelpful. Slides are awful. Discredits many psychological theories and tests. Why is she a psychologist?!?! Quizzes for every chapter must be completed with a 100%, otherwise you are given an Incomplete for the course. Count for nothing... Overall grade consists of 50% midterm, 50% final.

She is the absolute worst professor that I have had at BU so far. All she does is read off the slides in the most boring way. We have two lectures per week and one of them is spent listening to her lecture and one where we watch a movie. She is so sarcastic and unprofessional.

your grade was supposed to be made up of 2 midterms. due to covid and her laziness our grade was only based off the midterm. ONE TEST. would promise to hear our concerns and then would say she was joking & didnt care. unprofessional, rude doesnt believe in most mental health illnesses? lectures are required and she would rarely show up AVOID!!!

Hagen made me question majoring in psychology for an entire semester. Lecture slides include 10yr old info that she refuses to update, and her tangents make no sense. Only grades are 2 exams, but you have to complete like 15 chapter quizzes with 100% and have less than 2 absences to NOT lose points. Awful during COVID- NOT accommodating!!

I'm not sure why Professor Hagen is teaching psychology. She consistently used outdated terminology when speaking and then jumped on us for misspeaking or using outdated language when explaining a concept in the past tense. She frequently said things like "I'm OCD about that sort of thing." and was unable to be impartial in her teaching.

I've already written a rating for Hagen, but, as I am graduating from BU this year, I just wanted to further warn future psych students. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS. Hagen is the worst teacher I've ever had (college AND hs). I don't understand why she is still teaching at BU, she does not accept any other opinions and her teaching is awful. Stay away.

I had this professor at BU in 1982. She was tangential and difficult to follow in class. There was one midterm and one final exam. I have now worked in behavioral health over 35 years (did not major in psychology primarily because of this class) and I am an adjunct professor (at another university). I would definitely not recommend this professor.
