Hosty is an AMAZING professor, she may be a bit much at times, but she has LOTS of interesting things to say! Mid-term was VERY hard, but there is a studyguide just make sure to actually STUDY! however the class is amazing, and so is she. VERY INTELLEGENT person, one i would trust in any info she gives me.

Mrs.Hosty teaches in a way you understand. Unlike many other class you write notes in, her class you just watch and listen. This method helps me understand immensly. You dont need to ask any questions, they are all answered in lectures. This definantly a class to take for fun and knowledge

Took her during the summer. She gives reviews for all test so you know exactly what to study. They are long but as long as you study what she gives you, you have no reason not to make an A. Attendance is not required. No textbook required. No weekly assignments. One easy reasearch project. Cool and fun personality. Knows her stuff.

Mrs Hosty is very energetic, keeps class lively, and knows what she's talking about. She and had differences of opinion, but were always able to have civil discussion. No textbook/notes required (just bring a pen). Attendance is suggested, not required. 3 tests are given (study guides provided), 1 research paper (easy), easy A. I recommend it!

"Fun" and "easy" mischaracterizes this instructor--the words engaging, humorous, efficent, and organized work better; students only FEEL the course is fun/easy because the teacher makes it such a positive(and eye-opening) experience. You learn useful material,classs is never dull, but there is a lot of stuff to know and then be able to use in life.

Decent teacher, took her during the summer, fast paced & lots of material to learn. She doesn't use a book at all and says "Don't waste your money on it". She gives you a review so you know exactly what to study. Tests are all memorization, which is BORING to me. We watched a million Youtube videos. I barely went to class and still made an A.

Excellent teacher who knows her stuff. Great powerpoints. Attendance not required - she puts everything you need to know for the test on Campus Cruiser. Textbook also not required or recommended. Class is spent mostly watching YouTube videos and her sharing her opinions on different political items, so its a waste of time to go.

Great teacher that offers study guides and is very opinionated. She talks extremely fast but the course is very easy. Just read and study the study guide and you will definetely make an A.

I have learned a lot in this class. At first I took this class because it is required for my degree plan. I am glad I did. Mrs. Hosty is a great teacher however, she spends to much time trying to convince us on how our country is heading towards communism. 90percent of the class time was spent on global warming, President Obama, agenda 21. If you dont mind weeding that out u will learn something. Hosty knws her stuff all right, she just needs to stick 2 the curriculum

Really mind opening. Loved the class and is one of a kind where you don't want to miss out. Would even like to go for fun. That is how good and dinamic the class is. Is not one of your every day class and you have to have an very open mind to go to this class. If your reason to go to school is just for some credits then this is not for you, Learn!!

AMAZING teacheer. Umm, yeah, the Agenda 21 stuff is because the class was geared around conspiracy theory to make it interesting and cause us to think. True, SHE is conservative, but none of the grading is based on political bent, and topics are controversial to keep class lively. Take this course and this instructor--well worth the time and money.

She does NOT teach theory as fact! She posted literlly HUNDREDS of PDFs of the original texts from 19-20th Cs and literally THOUSANDS of links to Internet sorces debating the issues covered so we could explore on our own. And impossible to get extra-credit for ANY reviews, since she doesn't get them until AFTER grades are in and they are anonymous!

I really enjoyed this class. Professor Hosty is very engaging and approachable. We covered a lot of material but it was very interesting and relevant. She is very fair and always prepared for class.

I loved her, but she was a bit on the "different" side. Smart as a whip, but preoccupied with the world ending and chemical warfare. I know it exists, but sometimes I left the class feeling horribly depressed. Overall, though, in a land of free speech, she made this class alot of fun and a wealth of knowledge for ME. Keep her.

She does begin almost every single class with very depressing news about our government and the world, which is VERY depressing. However she gives GREAT reviews and is almost always prepared for class. Textbook is NOT used! :-)

I have just completed this class. I loved every aspect of it. It is a very informative class on current affairs and how policies drawn up 100 years ago relate to modern day. Ms Hosty is a very approachable professor who gives fantastic study guides to help with you're exams.

I can honestly say this class was one of the most interesting I have ever taken. Few professors dare to go where professor Hosty will take you through American and world history. It was an amazing journey and I am better informed on our world because of this class. It was an Ivy League class experience at a community college price.

You will leave this class and not be able to believe the things you will learn! Hosty informs you of all the awful/great things that are going on in your government!! She does not use a textbook, you do not take notes, and her test are a breeze... if you study :)

This class is full of interesting and up-to-date information about current events and government. The test are not hard IF you study. She provides you with all the information you need to succeed in this class.

Okay, grumblers, I added up time of all videos shown since she gave us the links--only equals TWO class sessions out of 30, and ALL of them related to class materials (govt, Social Darwinism, Marxism, Rand's Objectivism,etc.), which is a WELCOME break from straight lecture and no visuals. You LEARNED if you paid attention, didn't you? SUPURB class!

Crazy like a fox. Codex alimentarius became law January 1, 2010, globally; Google and Youtube it. She didn't make up stuff--she provided THOUSANDS of links to articles and videos from around the globe to substantiate the conspiracy theory theme. Not helpful? She answered emails and graded all tests w/in 24 hours-A able because of HER study guides.

NEVER been in a class before where nobody took a nap. You will stay wide awake.Prof "H" FOR SURE will keep you involved and interested -she helps her students, never makes us selfconscious or feel dumb for asking. Learned a lot,had some fun too. Prof "H" is outgoing and friendly. TAKE THE CLASS - you won't regret it. She grades fair too.

I recommend this professor hands down. While the context of the class lectures seem to wain time and again the content is fantabulous. While some complained about the class about the content it would probably be prudent to say that if you came to class and paid attention to the content one might learn something useful.

Prof. margaret Hosty is a MUST if you need to take a intro course to Humanities and know nothing about it. She sparked my interest in the course. All I can say about Prof. H... AWESOME!!!! and she requires no textbooks :) go to class, she provides you with all the material you need to study to ace the exams.

As for the person who wrote they wouldn't recommend taking Prof. H's class.... If you would have attended class more than you stated you did, you would have learned a lot from her!! How easy it is to make an "A" but how rewarding it would have been for you to come to more classes and learn a great deal from her!

this was very educational. She does a very great job getting her objectives across to the student and provides every single information needed. Her class is designed for students to pass and if anyone fails its not her fault. She teaches you how to think, not what to think and that is the best part about class. She reveals things otherwise ignored.

If you know how to study and can commit to checking your e-mail (she tells you EXACTLY what will be on exams), you will ace this class. A lot of material is covered and everyone can find at least something that interests them in this class. Topics are out of the norm but really opens up your mind to the what-ifs of the world. A+++

The material was thorougly covered, exams where clearly known- especially with the study guides emailed to you, Professor Hosty knows her stuff and will teach you and allow you to voice your opionion and never judge you. Professor Hosty is the greatest professor ever! You'll learn everything from art, music, theatre, and literature from 18th-20th century to conspiracy theories, science and religion in today's world. She ties all of the information into your life, and every test question comes from the study guide. Study the guide and you'll get a A- at the least!

One of the best teachers I had so far. The information she provides is useful yet effective. She knows how to connect with students and relates the topic we are discussing with current events. Also all info discussed in class is provided so students can check it out for themselves. No book can ever discuss subjects the way Ms. H does.

She was a great professor. I got sick with some stomach stuff and she was very helpful. I never missed an exams. The only grades she has for you is 4 exams and one is take-home and you get a month to do it. Overall, awesome professor. I wish all profs were like her.

I had her for Intro to Humanities. She was the most refreshing teacher I've ever had. She likes to be honest with you and to the point. She also wants you to succeed so she gives you study guides based solely on the conext of the tests. Another awesome thing you don't need a text book!

Professor Hosty was the best teacher that I've had at that campus. She was real and wasn't afraid to speak her mind. Ms. Hosty's class was my favorite class this semester. Her lectures were something I would regret missing if I was absent. You will know immediately though that she dislikes postmodernism. Very easy A if you can memorize images of paintings and the according artists. She will introduce you to art that you probably hadn't considered much. Take her!!

Umm, yeah--notes were allowed, just discouraged. HELLO! Free study guides provided, no texts required to buy! Funny how OTHER students took notes and got no grief about that. Four exams means plenty of opportunities to pass--and that is the norm for Intro courses, so don't know what the whining is about. Hilarous and engaging lectures, take her.

Prof H was sweet and really helpful. She lectures about fine arts, dance, art, music, different eras and ALWAYS provides a visual for her students to see. Always willing to answer questions and help you out. Its mainly lecture and 4 tests that are easy if you study well. You should walk out the class feeling more aware of the world and enlightened.

Took this class only because I had to, but walked away glad I did. I learned so much more than I expected to. Her lectures are pertinent, not just to humanities but to life as well. Sure, this class wasn't the cakewalk I anticipated, yet I looked forward to it and appreciated the challenge. Wish more professors had her passion and knowledge.

Professor H is a very caring professor. Although she is tough of her test, they are really not that hard. All you have to do is really study to memorize and you will be fine. I rated her difficulty a 4, do to the fact that she wants you to memorize it and learn it, not just take a class and move on. Easy A "if" you truly study.
