Going to class is a waste of time. Read the book if you're interested. To study just review practice tests, she uses many of the exact same problems. Also you need to read her class notes because some material she tests on is not in the book.
Attending lectures is a must.Some test questions are chosen from her PRS questions.Reading the book is a must, test questions can based on things she didn't talk about in class.Printing out lecture notes? No..You can understand the material better by reading the book. Taking notes in class?Maybe not..just read her notes if you want. I got a high A.
Gives access to lecure slides online which is very helpful. Also takes the time to prepare practice quizzes onlne. Three exams plus final and chance to earn points if you attend lecture and use RF clicker. All in all a lot more interesting than most and you can tell she really puts in some effort.
soooo easy! she puts EVERYTHING online. all you have to do for the exams is memorize the study guides. i never even opened the book once. i only went to class 4 times. the first day, and the three exams. ingate rules!!!!!!!!!
I barely used the book, just went over the powerpoints real well. Class is a must because she counts questions with RF clicker, but i left halfway through 90% of the classes and still ended up with a B+ and barely cracked the book open. The most important thing is the practice quizzes since those questions will be nearly word-for-word on the exam.
This class is so BORING BLAND AND JUST SUCKS. Her voice is weird and annoying. For a class that is so hard there is no study guide. She doesn't make the class interesting at all. She makes you come and sit through her awful lectures because she does clicker questions. There are online quizs but only 20 out of a 70 question test were on the test.
ingate is the worst teacher i have ever had she knows the material but cannot teach for her life - exams are impossible and she could not care less if everyone fails - worst professor do not bother i had a 4.0 and i am probably going to fail she is horrible
While she is a very kind and helpful Prof.I would not listen to the previous comments, her exams are not word for word from the practice exams.Go to class and you'll more than likely get a higher than a C, most of the class seems to be in the B range. 3 Exams,on on the last day of classes... and then a final too : pretty rough.clicker quizzes too.
Have you ever heard anyone who was about to cry? That is her, all the time. Lectures are boring. Questions on test are ambiguous. Attendance is mandatory, textbook sucks. GPA killer. I don't know how I'm maintaining a B. She curves generously, though.
If you do actually want to learn from class, sit upfront. It is hard to understand what she says from the back. For tests, just review lecture notes and online quiz questions. For the final, I suggest you go over past online quiz questions and your past exams since about 70% of the final, which was open book, was old questions (word for word).
The class made you want to pull your hair out!it was soo long and boring and u could hardly understand what she is sayin.i skimmed through the book but it was a waste of time since her lectures are online..the good thing is the that she curves generously,thought i was goin to fail but got a B.overall its an ok course.

Horrible professor. That's all I can say. Her exams don't make sense. She doesn't make sense. Be prepared to read, read, and read and not have time for other classes. Avoid this professor to save your sanity!!!
This woman was horrible..half the time if you werent sitting in the first 3 rows you could not hear her..she sounds like a frog..her exams are basically in latin because god only knows what she is asking you..because of this calss i had about 4 nervous break downs..it was horrible
She's nice, but extremely confusing. Make sure you do the WEBCT quizzes...extremely valuable!! Expect to fail the tests-but her curve is great!! Do all the work, extra credit, and keep studying the webct...good luck read the glass book [laughs]
Although I made it out with an A, I felt a little overwhelmed with the amount of information, and I felt unorganized with material, which might have been my fault. She's very willing to help if you come see her, but a little hard to hear so sit up close in lecture. Overall, if you listen and read you'll be fine on her exams, which is her intention.
she is confusing and boring. clickers make u attend class and have to hear her terrible voice. her tests are ok but i dont know where some of her questions come from. and good luck trying to read the book, looks like an infant wrote that book

yes her voice is annoying, but she admitted that on the first podcast she posted in the summer. all the notes are online, but it helps to go to class. textbook useful, but could probably get by without it. i think her tests are fair. if you study, then you pass, just like all college classes.

Seems to think students "get it" best if they're challenged, so her courses are hard. So if you're lazy, you'll fail. If you attend classes and study effectively you will get a good grade. Very fair. The TA's, on the other hand, don't get me started.
Lengthy, irrelevant, and boring lectures. Tests are very detail oriented, and based strongly on the textbook.
You will need to read the textbook and do the online homework on a regular basis. Her tests are very lecture oriented, so if you decide to go lecture go with the intention to listen. Otherwise, just print out the online notes...

I enjoyed Infant & Child with Ingate. She is very intelligent and really wants her students to learn the material as it will be relevant to most of our futures. Read the book, take the quizzes. Many exam questions are taken from the quizzes. Don't be a lazy ass, do the work and learn, and you won't have to complain about your grade later.
Attendance is a must in this class. There are clicker questions throughout just about every lecture, although if you pay attention, they are easy (and she drops lowest 2). Exams are easy as long as you've read the chapter and done the practice questions. READ THE SYLLABUS. Outlines of most chapters can be found on rustudying (.com)
Just sho up and read the text...i slept in every class for general psych onli popping up to use my clicker so you can pretty much use the text to learn but if you need more help just listen to the lectures...they may be boring but sometimes she found ways to make it fun
personally i thought this class was very easy. if you keep up with the reading & go to class you should be fine. in class clicker questions become online quiz questions which eventually become test questions she curves & is willing to help you. her voice does take time to get used to but it isnt as bad as everyone says. i would recommend this class
As usual, everyone just complains about everything when it gets the least bit challenging. This was my second course with her, and I thought she was great, plus the material was interesting to read. Right now, I'm in a third course with her, so she must be doing something right!

She's a very nice lady, but the class was so boring. I felt bad falling asleep in class sometimes, but the combination of her voice and a 5:00 class was like taking ten Lunesta, so there's not really much I could do about that. If you have insomnia, this class is for you!
she is the nicest woman ever. go to class, don't fall asleep, outline your text book, have your notes open while taking online quizzes, and you'll do fine. i got an A in this course easily. go to her office hours to get to know her, she can help you out a lot once she knows who you are ...i sat in the front row too.
There is a lot of material that was covered(she extrapolates from three separate texts)But she is a GREAT professor,she knows EVERYTHING about the subject, and she's extremely understanding.Just pay attention.The only problem is the main textbook(Glass).It is convoluted but she will clarify it, but you have to approach her.All in all she's great

The easy way to get a A-B is to just memorize and do all the practice quizzes. if you do that, you can just read the summaries in the book. relatively easy class.
This class is A LOT of work and very stressful.The main book (GLASS) is VERY convoluted. She gives you many opportunities to get grades and the curve helps. GO to class, do the clickers to boost your grade & ALL the work. After exam 1 it gets easier so don't get too discouraged. You have to do a lot to get an A, but it's possible.

Extremely confusing/difficult first couple of lectures, but gets easier as semester progresses. Make sure you do the "optional" paper as it counts for like 1/5 of final grade. Tests are very hard, but it will really help if you do the pre-test online several times.
Professor Ingate's class is fairly clear, but could use more consistentcy. I realize she hadn't taught in a while, but her first exam was very easy, while she made the 2nd exam much harder to compensate. I got an A because I did all the readings (there were a lot) but many students were caught off-guard by the difficulty difference of the 2 exams.
Prof. Ingate is tough to hear at first, but her class is really interesting. It's good because you get online quizzes outside the classroom that not only help you learn the info to begin with but it helps your grade because you get credit for doing them. She's a really nice lady too so I definitely recommend this class.
I took 3 classes with her. Seemed very hard at first, but not after you get used to her voice and teaching style. Glass' Cognition book, though, is horrible-horrible sentence constructions. Ingate is one of Rutgers' most knowledgeable & most hard-working professor. Extremely helpful, nice, and knowledgeable. She's GREAT if you like to really learn.

You have to get used to her voice, but it's not that bad. She's a nice person and is willing to help you out. Online/clicker quizzes can boost your grade and exams are not bad. Just be sure to read the book/pay attention in class. Going over online quizzes for exams really help. I would take her class again.
Tests and Measurements...this class was challenging...lots of work..if you want an A be prepared to commit a lot of time to this class. Dr. Ingate is extremely kind and helpful, if you seek help she will accommodate you. Read the book and go to class even though attendance is not mandatory.
Dr. Ingate knows her material. Aside from having a strained voice, she is a great professer and very helpful. Her notes are detailed, and she provides work besides just exams which are a grade booster, you have clickers so attendance is mandatory but it's interesting and worth the extra points. Finished with an A and taking her again in the spring
Incredibly knowledgeable, also interesting lectures. Read the book, keep up with the online quizzes. DO YOUR RPU'S. The class is a good combination of interesting material and a manageable course load, and I would recommend it to anyone.
IF you're NOT willing to put in a good amount of effort, do not take this class! Ingate is very knowledgable in what she teaches, and gives her students the opportunity to do well, but it requires some work! the exams can be tricky, there is a clicker, and online quizzes. but she curves well at the end of the course!

Don't listen to others! She is a wonderful teacher and i found her quite easy if you know how to prepare. the clicker questions and sakai exams count as A TEST GRADE each + 3 exams. which means you can still get an A if you get As on the clicker and sakai exams and at a mid B for exams. Go to class, take notes, review the sakai Qs!
I think shes a great professor. She's very, very helpful and is willing to help students out if they are not doing well in the class. She is very through, but you need to pay attention. she also has a great sense of humor. I highly reccomend her if you are a psychology major, as you will be well prepared.

Okay Cognition with her its not easy BUT its not impossible to get a good grade. Go to class for the clicker questions and do the online quizzes they make a huge difference on final grade. It's a hard class but u will leave it knowing something. I say she's a great professor.

I love Professor Ingate! I've had her for Org&Personnel, Infant&Child, and Cognition. I can never seem to get over the B+ hump, but very straight forward in her teaching style and grading. Also just a nice classroom experience. You'll have to put in the work and come to class, but I recommend it!
Her exams are so specific which make it impossible for my to get over a C+ on exams. Her power points are very helpful and you can get a lot of points towards your grade if you do all the clickers, online quizzes and extra credit

Professor Ingate is one of the best professors at Rutgers. Here class is outlined from the minute a student walks in. Professor Ingate is a more than a fair teacher. Her clicker and on line quizzes (assessments) enhance a persons grade. She truly cares about the people in her class. She works with you and she is one of the best teachers at Rutgers.
Not insanily hard, but gives clicker quizes that count for a large part of your grade. Her exams are cumilative though so they are a bit harder than other exams.
One of the best professors/classes I've had during my four year at Rutgers. Dr. Ingate is a brilliant woman - extremely knowledgeable and capable of teaching multiple fields in psychology. The class itself was a good amount of work, but all worthwhile and mostly interesting. She curves the final grade a - I got an A but was expecting a B+.
Basically, her class is not very easy to keep it up. You need to work so hard to gain whatever you want to gain. I was so depress when i took this class because her exam was extremely hard. I started off interesting in child& infant, but i ended up confusing what i want to be in my future...There are lots of stress by taking this class.
She's not an easy professor, however she does give a lot of opportunities to keep your grade up. (Clicker quizzes during lectures, weekly online homework and quizzes, extra credit...) Take the class seriously and you'll be fine. DEFINITELY read the chapters and pay attention to the lectures, especially if you're new to general psychology!!!
Prof. Ingate is my favorite professor of all time. She wants students to succeed and gives plenty of opportunities for them to do so...however, she does not hand out A's. You have to work for them.
one of my favorite teachers at rutgers. not easy, but this is college so suck it up...she wants everyone to succeed and gives multiple opportunities to do so- online quizzes, practice quizzes, etc. the tests are a little tricky at times but she curves so you end up with a better grade than youd think. Definitely recommended!
Shes nice, and as long as you attend class, do the online quizzes, and do average on the exams, you will get a B. DO THE EXTRA CREDIT PAPER. It sucks but it really boosts your grade. One of the best Professor's in Rutgers of NB. Once you understand the point system for your grades, People take her classes more seriously. I had her for Infant and Child Development and Cognition. Professor Ingate makes it very easy for studets to succeed, she is fair and works with her students. If I could,I would take her for all Psychology.

Thought I was going to completely fail this class but came out with an A. The curve is huge. I only missed one class but did not take 1 note. All you have to do is do well on the in class clicker quizzes, online quizzes, and DO THE PAPER. it is supposed to be 7 pages, i only wrote 3 and got an 88 on it. very easy to do well but boring
I had Prof. Ingate for both Cognition and Infant and Child Development. She is extremely clear in her lectures and gives many opportunities to up your grade through online quizzes and clickers. Exams can be confusing due to her wording.
Ingate is a great professor. Theres a lot of info to know, but as long as you go to class, do the clicker questions, and online quizzes you will do well on the exams. I skimmed the book which reinforced the info. Lots of opportunities to improve grade with in class clickers and quizzes. If you ask for help she is very accomodating and sweet.

Sweet lady. No extra credit. Extremely boring lectures, but you must attend every class due to clicker questions. 2 exams, clickers, quizzes online, choice of group project or research paper = Easy B
Terrible professor. Exams are based out of lectures and text book, but lectures are boring and only certain topics used from lectures. Text book she assigns is terrible compared w/ other intro to psych text books. Clicker questions so attendance is mandatory. Overall, i wouldn't recommend this professor/ wish I switched out when I had the chance
This class is very fair, go to class if only for the clickers. Do the online quizzes, then READ the book before exams. That's the key to this class because her test questions are tough but the book explains things very well & uses the same wording she does on her exams. Loved her, loved the class, & I got an A. The final was online & as long as you still study for it like it was in class it's really easy. I got an A in the class overall, loved her.

This class is not easy, not with Ingate at least. If you are willing to read 200 pages a week and then do two online assignments then take it! But if you can pick a different professor I would suggest you do so.

Difficult to understand!!! Given in small lecture hall and prof is still hard to undertand. Boring. Jumbled information. NO slides, NO microphone, etc. Lectures the whole time. Loads of reading. Seems nice enough.

Prof Ingate was a fantastic teacher. She made me love Psychology and was one of the big reasons I switched my major to Psych. Read the book and study her key terms and you'll do well. She made her class very interesting and you can tell she knows her stuff. Loved the class.
Interesting class, sometimes shes difficult to understand. you have to read, and you have to go to class because there clicker quizzes every class and quizzes from the reading online. extra credit paper REALLY helps your grade too
If you put in the work and go to class, it isn't very difficult to get an A. She is always willing to help if there are questions and although the class can be sometimes dry, the clicker quizzes help the grade a lot.
Had her for infant/child development. Her throat spasm can make her difficult to understand at times. She is kind and helpful, but the class is all over the place: clicker questions, there's textbook readings, online assignments/quizzes and the usual 3 exams. Tests are difficult because you never know what to study. Too much material!

The lectures are interesting, especially if you are into psychology. The class is graded on clicker questions, online practice quizes/assesments/reviews and three exams. The exams of course are pretty tough but honestly, just study and read. There are review sessions every week you can attend. The class is not that bad

This is a very difficult class for the 101 level. If you are willing to study large amounts of material and attend lecture you will do well, but there is a combination of clicker quizzes, online quizzes, exams, text book readings, and practice tests to study. It is very science based, she focuses the semester on the functions of the brain.
The class is extremely hard, but she's a really great professor. She helps you a lot and gives you lots of opportunities to boost your grade. She's really funny and sweet, and really knows what she's talking about. I'm not even that interested in infants and children, and I still found the class very interesting.

A lot of people complain about the clicker quizes and the online quizes but they honestly help your grade sooo much. As long as you keep up with the textbook and you attend class it's not bad at all.
As a professor she isn't terrible. It is her exams that are genuinely impossible. I studied VERY hard for them and consistently got C's, thankfully the clicker questions/online quizzes helped my grade. But overall not an easy A at all. An "easy" B if you go to class and do your work. But an extremely difficult A for a psychology class.

The clicker questions and online quizzes really help balance mediocre exam grades. I got an A and had an 18 point buffer and I skimmed the last 5 chapters.

Professor Ingate is lovely and I enjoyed her class for Infant and Child Development. It is NOT easy. You have to attend class because of clicker questions and do all the assignments and study REALLY hard for exams, because they're difficult. The final was online though. You really have to do the work, but she's great and I'd take her class again.
To all science majors who want to take her to complete your human behavior requirement: do so when you're past all your difficult general requirements for your major. You really have to put in effort and studying time to get a really good grade. Def not an easy A, and in my opinion she should be teaching honors for the psych and nursing majors.
1. Her voice makes you want to peel your ears off. 2. Her lectures are deathly boring, yet mandatory because of clicker questions. 3. Her exams are not easy. 4. She changed the syllabus mid-semester without any notification, and then when met by complaints at the end of the semester, she deleted the sakai site. DISAPPROVE.
if you are looking for an easy A she is not the teacher for you.. her exams are hard but you don't need to do amazing on her exams to do well in her class.. my grades on the exams ranged from a 68 to an 80 and did really well on clickers and quizzes and ended up with a B+ in the class
She's a great professor and is very enthusiastic about teaching. Her lectures are packed with information and the exams can be challenging but overall it was a great class with plenty of opportunities to excel. An A is attainable if you read the book!
Really nice professor but changed her syllabus at the end of the semester and messed with everyone's grades. There are definitely easier professors for this course if you're looking for an easy A but her lectures were always pretty interesting.
Worst professor ever. Her lectures are crazy long and you have to go to lectures because of clicker questions. Her exams were confusing and a lot of trick questions. The only thing that will bump up your grade is the online quiz. Make sure you do well in those if you want a B and above!
She is a nice lady, and lectures can be interesting. Too much information and not enough clarity about what is important. Her voice gets irritating and her exams are hard. The content of the class is great but the exams are stupid.
I have taken Infant and Child and Cognition with her. She is great if you're studying for the GRE and need in-depth coverage of the material (u can learn a lot) The test questions on exams are difficult. Spend plenty of time on the online quizzes and come to class for clickers questions. Do any and all extra credit. Not 4 ppl who want low work load
She's a really fantastic and nice professor. I got an A in the class, I worked for it, but it wasnt impossibe by any means. All the negative ratings of her are from psych majors that party 8 times a week and dont understand the concept of work. You will learn alot from her, and she will go out of her way to help you out. Plus, the topic is easy

I had Prof. Ingate for Infant and child Dev. I thought her lectures were very interesting, she post videos on a lot of her slides which makes it easier to understand. Attendance is a must since there are clicker questions. I would recommend taking her class!
Prof. Ingate is fairly interesting and cares about her students, but it can be difficult to understand her sometimes and to stay awake during class. She replaces class with online lectures too often. The exams can be kinda tricky, but it you go to class, do the 24 online quizzes, read all of the chapters, and study, you can do well!
I took Infant and Child Development this fall, and it was a very interesting and straightforward class. I got an A in the class by going to each class (mandatory for clicker questions), took detailed notes and kept up with the chapter readings. Professor Ingate was extremely approachable and friendly as well.
I had Professor Ingate for both Infant&Child Development as well as Adolescent Development. Her teaching methods were very consistent and straight-forward. Very approachable and relatable teacher. Inf&Child was definitely tricky and the exams were tough, however the exams in Adolescent were very easy so I would recommend taking her 333 course.
I had Ingate for History of Psych. I never had her for her other courses, but her class is pretty straight forward and she's a decent professor. She grades on a point system so as long as you do the requirements and not half ass it, you will get a decent grade. The material is boring, but I think she does a good job considering that! Def take her!
DO NOT DO IT TO YOURSELF . Omg! she is a nice woman and all but sometimes i wonder if I'm in a psychology class or a biology class! Every class she goes into tangents about neurotransmitters and axon potentials! Before this class I was interested in Psych now when i hear it i cringe! Not to mention the 1000 slide Powerpoints each week. Don't do it
She's knowledgeable. I give her that. But if you're not interested in Psychology (like I wasn't) then it'll be a hard class. Go to class for easy clicker grades, otherwise not necessary, textbook & slides online have everything. Very detailed in her exams, which can be annoying for non-psych majors.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS. She literally goes out of her way to make her quiz and exam questions tricky and confusing. If there is a straight up sentence in the book leading you to an answer ,yet you get it wrong, if you approach her she comes up with a ridiculous explanation as to why you got her ridiculous question wrong. Absolutely awful.
She goes through her power points way too fast or the chapters in general. She's not necessarily mean, but she can get boring. When you ask her questions she never gives a straight yes/ no answer, so it can get annoying sometimes.
Her voice is very annoying. Not an extremely hard class but exams are hard and not online like how other gen psych classes are. Lecture is EXTREMELY boring but you have to go for clicker questions; which raise your grade a LOT. Not a bad class at all but not a favorite of mine either.

This professor is very knowledgeable and goes beyond lectures and office hours to help students understand concepts. I took gen psych with her - the class is very structured and goes solely by the book. Lectures go into more detail than needs to be understood for the exams but they are very interesting. If you read the textbook you will get an A

I have to say this was the worst course I have taken thus far. The instructor was not prepared, read directly from slides as well as confuse some of the theories. The exams weren't reflective of information covered in the book. She gives in-class quizzes as well as online quizzes. Take class with someone else!
Her class is EXTREMELY DIFFICULT! The online quizzes have questions that aren't even in the book, and her exams are VERY tricky. Her voice is also aggravating. I'd say take another professor.

She is extremely knowledgable about the subject material. Her exams were fair. The averages were always around 70. Attending lectures help, but you MUST read the textbook because she sometimes puts little details on the exams. Overall, I learned a lot. I would recommend her.
I recommend against taking this class unless you plan on reading and notating the entirety of the loooong and boring textbook. I went to every class, studied moderately, paid attention, and took good notes, but I never scored higher than an 80% on any of the exams. The material was interesting, but it is NOT an easy A class. I got a B+.

She is the worst professor I've ever met!!!! She gives so many different types of assignments, not only so much work to do, but also easy to confuse which one is due and we can find it on which site! I really regret I took her this semester, if you consider about her course, please give yourself a chance to reconsider and make ur life easier.

I think she is a very good teacher, makes it interesting and obviously strongly interested herself. Clicker questions & online quizzes are easy and boost your grade. As long as you actually go to class, TAKE GOOD NOTES, and READ THE BOOK, you'll do fine. Exams can be a little hard but obviously you have to study. Read the book, don't be lazy.
it is a lot of work but kind of interesting. lots of extra credit & you will need & have to read the book. iclicker & online quizzes. yes she has a raspy voice but she is super nice & passionate about the subject.
Exams are the trickiest thing about the class, but if you study your online quizzes and the terms she gives you in study guides it helps alot. Clicker quizzes help boost your grade, and there are plenty of extra credit opportunities. Getting an A is definitely possible if you work hard for it, and Professor Ingate is always helpful.
I came into this class struggling. I failed a couple of the quizzes and i thought she was so hard. But shes not bad her tests are challenging but you learn the material really well. Go by the study guide and make sure you read the chapters, and try and do well on the quizzes big grade booster. Overall a nice prof, she's really into the material.
If you are looking for an easy A, this is not the class for you. But its not the hardest class either, her online quizzes and clicker quizzes are a HUGE boost to your grade and they will help alot. I must say it's not an easy A class and not even an easy B. You have to use clicker to answer questions in class and they are difficult. You could be paying attention and still have no idea what she is asking you about. The tests are difficult but very similar to weekly online quiz questions. You will learn a lot but watch out for your GPA.
Read the textbook! I barely looked at mine and got in the 70's for the first two exams, but I actually read through the chapter for the final and got an A on the final. Class is incredibly boring. Clicker questions are graded and misleading. Information in her slides is inconsistent with the book and exams.

Honestly, you get from this class what you put in to it. Is it an easy A? No. But I can honestly say I learned so much from this class and still remember most things. She is very understanding and very willing to help. Read the book and go to class. You're gonna have to study, but this was an A I found extremely rewarding.
Even if I failed this class I would not consider taking it again. I barely learn anything in lecture, and the class is sooo boring.. but you have to go because she gives clicker quizzes. Those and online quizzes that we have to take weekly make up almost half your grade. They're open book, but the questions are unnecessarily difficult. Don't take.
Exams are very straight forward. The midterm was open ended and the final multiple choice. She gives random quizzes based on the lectures, grades them pretty easily & announces most of them on sakai She has one term paper, you have all semester to complete. I didn't do well on it & she gave me an opportunity to raise my grade. She's a sweetheart.
Practically reads off the sides, but be warned: slides and exams have nothing to do with each other. Reading the textbook is important, but that won't really help on exams either. It's sort of a coin toss. Do well on the weekly quizzes - they are the most clear cut and they count for an entire exam grade (25%). She'll curve less than 15% get an A.
I believe she is a great professor. I enjoy taking her classes. So far, I've taken 3 courses with her and i did great. her tests are a bit tough but if you attend class regularly (esp bc there are clicker questions in every class) and pay attention in lectures, you will learn a lot and do fine. the papers are not so bad either. i def recommend her
She is honestly one of my favorite professors at Rutgers. She is such a kind an intelligent woman an she expects a lot from her students, she assigns readings, and gives you quizzes on class material which sometimes are difficult, and her exams can be, but she is very generous with her final curve. she wants her students to do well! take her class!
Memory and History of Psych. Her tests are difficult, but they're by no means impossible. All you need to do is read the textbook and attend lecture and considering we're all paying to come to school I don't see why anyone is complaining. She expects more from us than most other psych profs I've had which is really awesome.

quizzes online weekly has nothing to do with the slides. she basically forces you to do intensive readings even if you go to class. midterm is the most scrambled garbage and she acts like she ares about the students but she posts up lecture slides 20 min before class starts and makes up the power point in her own words.
Everything's really straight forward, you have to read the book, the lectures help you to understand what you've read. The online final practice was practically the questions on the final, be sure to take it a few times
She is impossible to understand throughout the course and only pays attention to the students in the first row or 2. I tried very hard to take notes in this class and pay attention but she clicked so quickly through slide I was unable to take down any notes and ended up withdrawing from the course mid-semester.

She is a very difficult professor but, has a lot of knowledge. Definitely would not take her because the classes she teaches require a lot of work. The time reading the textbook and doing online quizzes is excessive. It's not worth taking it if you don't want to put the work in.
I took memory and it was hard. The online quizzes were kind of hard but the exams were even harder. I studied a lot but it didn't seem to help much. I still don't know if I will get a B OR a C because we still have to take the final. However, it was not an easy class at all.
Do not take any class with her. She is incredibly hard to understand because of her specified knowledge on the topic. Bad at explaining and overall an incredibly tough teacher. Still have to take her final exam and heavily relying on the final curve.
Took her for I/O psych. Lectures were dull, but I think that was more the material rather than her. Asked for feedback from the class a lot. 2 exams and a semicumulative final. In class clicker questions. Online quizzes once a week and has a SUPER helpful online review before exams. Exams were easy. Sweet lady who actually cares about her students.
I took Dr. Ingate for an honors section and she was incredible! The class started off seminar-style but she ended up lecturing because we found it more helpful - she is very flexible with students' needs and her main concern really is that we are taking something out of this class. Dr. Ingate knows psychology like the back of her hand - take her!!!

Bc everyone did so bad on exam1, she told us we only need a D in her class to pass which i felt was discouraging. Take someone else if possible. Took Honors Gen Psych my first semester at university and Ingate was an incredible teacher! If you sit towards the front, engage in lecture, and READ THE TEXTBOOK (seriously. read the book. it's actually good.) you should have no trouble getting at least a B. The online quizzes and practice tests are a huge help. Office hours are also very useful!!
The tests and quizzes were difficult& tricky but she offered various extra credits and the in class participation quizzes helped boost my grade A LOT and apparently, she always gives a curve. if you want a decent grade, put in the effort and you will be fine. I suggest reading, i did not read the textbook at all and pulled off a C without the curve

Not too hard to get a good grade in this class. Her voice sounds a bit strange, but it isn't hard to understand. She teaches a lot more than you need to know for the multiple choice exams. The slides are all online so you might feel like you don't have to go to class, but there are clicker questions in class which really boost your grade.
Dr. Ingate is great. She is always ready to help students, give then useful advice and help. I take her general psychology, and her teaching was great. At that semester we also did a term paper and a presentation, and her grade was fair and good.
One of my favorite professors at Rutgers! Her lectures are very straight forward and what she teaches is what she tests. If you read the textbook and go (and pay attention!!) to class you should have no problem getting an A. Also always do the practice exams, they're very similar to the real exams and help tremendously.
I love Dr. Ingate! A lot of people in this class aren't doing as great, but you really just have to read the book and do the quizzes online. She offers many opportunities for extra credit--you can write a short 2-page paper, do a 5-10 minute presentation, or participate in up to 3 psych studies. (at least in Summer semester) She really is an expert
One of the best professors I had i took her for 3 classes all pretty tough, but well worth the time. The best part is she is friendly too and loves to help you during office hours. I think taking her for the summer is the best because there is more opportunity to engage with the professor in a smaller classroom.
EASY GPA BOOSTER! I don't know why people avoid taking her! I was scared when I entered this class but honestly I had no reason to stress. Paper is optional and grade is based on 3 exams. She gives practice quizzes that are similar to the exams. Also she gives 15 extra credit points throughout the semester. TAKE HER!!

You have to buy this super expensive access code for this program that is very flaky. I would take this class with someone else if you can. She's not mean she just doesn't seems to care much for students
Took for both Memory Psychology and Infant & Child Development. Her lectures are drab and will make it hard to stay interested in the material. It is very difficult to get an A, I've gotten A's in all other psych courses. Three exams worth 100 points each, 100 points of online quizzes, 100 points of clickr qs. ALL questions vague/annoyingly worded
Nice professor but tricky exams that are always curved because some of the material on it was not even covered in class and she does not tell you what to study. Makes the class harder than it needs to be. She also does not prepare students with enough understanding about the brain prior to teaching the neuroscience based material.
This class was more difficult than I expected it to be. Passing with a C or higher is doable if you really study hard before the exams, try to do well on all of the online quizzes and attend lecture for the clicker points. She is pretty tough but helpful if you need clarification on the material (goes over peoples questions before every class).
Great professor and very interesting lectures. There are clicker questions and they worth a good portion of the grade but she drops the 4 worst performances. Online quizzes are quite easy. The three exams are tough so you must pay attention to lecture, and study all the power-points. Online quizzes and clicker points help boost grade. If you put in the work you can get an A or B.

She doesn't care about her students and seriously, her voice is absolutely unbearable. I would skip class just so I wouldn't have to have to hear her voice.

Hardest psych class I've taken by far & the material isn't difficult, she just makes the exams so hard. She posts study guides that offer no help for the exams & same for the slides. She seems nice, but this class was unbearable. Also you have to pay like $15 for the iclicker program that glitches often. never ever again.

Dr. Ingate is one of the best professors at RU. Very intelligent and engaging. Took both adolescent development and memory. Memory a bit more challenging, but expected as it is an upper level course. There's lots of room for extra credit and clicker points if you show up to class and pay attention. Power-points provided and no surprises on exams.

you're graded on weekly chapter quizzes, which are directly from the textbook so you do have to read it, and 3 exams (also from textbook and slightly from lectures). There are attendance quizzes in the lectures, so you have to go for that. You can probably get away with not going to a few lectures though, its all mostly from the book.
It's unfortunate, but her voice does make it hard to learn. Half my brain power goes towards deciphering what she is saying. Her slides are boring, unorganized, and rarely includes pictures (besides the brain chapter). Gives unnecessary info and is unclear about exactly what material is going to be on the exam. Reading the textbook is the way to pass no need to go to her lectures because that material is not even on her exams. Gave extra credit, go to office hours for extra help. She's a caring professor who is clearly interested in what she teaches. She communicates promptly and is very understanding and accommodating. But, she has a raspy/quiet voice that might be difficult to understand/pay attention to based on the person. STUDY THE TEXTBOOK FOR AN A. Her lectures are dry with many words and very few visuals.

I had missed an exam (it was online) because I thought it was at a different time and she let me make it up without any hesitation. She is very knowledgable and the class is relatively easy, you just need to study of course.
Super sweet but I stopped attending her lectures(no attendance). She discussed lot of topics that weren't necessarily tested on your exams. Midterms and finals had many questions that we're on her weekly quizzes, so I'd suggest studying from your quizzes and you're set to pass. SO much reading and you HAVE to read and write notes to know the topic.
A very sweet lady but her lectures were extremely long and dry. She had up to 80 slides for some lectures and it got extremely overwhelming. Her exam questions could be confusing but read the textbook. She is very knowledgeable but I feel like doesn't understand we aren't professionals yet.

Ingate is a sweet and caring professor. The lectures were boring, but attendance isn't mandatory. The course work was easy for a psych class, with one online quiz a week and 3 exams. She gives practice exams which set you up for the actual exams.
A very knowledgeable and intelligent person with a good attitude, a good sense of humor, and a lot of enthusiasm to teach eager students. Lectures can be a bit dry, and the class relies a lot on the assumption that you read the textbook A LOT. The best can be slightly tricky but it's not too bad honestly. Great teacher if you want to learn in depth
Terrible. Lectures are boring/unnecessary (reads from slides) and everyone's asleep. No one wants to attend so she did pop quizzes as punishment. Everything you need is in the textbook. Exams are cumulative. She's hard to reach outside of class. She promises to post study guides and never does. Overall unreliable and a terrible teacher.
The textbook could literally grow a brain and human functions before Ingates lectures could be considered good. There could be a slide with a bolded tittle and she wont even explain what the word means. I do not know what criteria Rutgers uses to hire people because it is an embarrassment to the school. DONT TAKE INGATE.
Nice professor really sweet lady but the class was very boring. Very lecture heavy and the lectures are nothing like the exams. Just read the textbook and study that and you'll do well on the exams. Warning however the textbook takes forever to go through. In-person exams which sucked because all the other psych classes had open-note online exams.
This prof seemed to be a very nice person but god was she was the worst prof ever known to man when it came to teaching. She sits in class reading the slides that have nothing to do with the exams. The only way to pass this class is to read the textbook each week which is like 100 pages a week. Do not even waste your time going to lectures
Take any other prof. Can't lecture to save her life. Ton of weekly assignments to save ur grade though but you are to learn nothing. Don't go to lectures and read the textbook and make outlines instead. 3 big 50-60 mc tests. Its not a hard class its just impossible to learn anything from this woman.
Professor Ingate seemed very sweet, but you definitely need to study in her class. Only problem being in the lectures was sometimes it would be hard to clearly hear her and she would fly through her slides. A pro is that the work isn't hard and she curves exams. I was only scared during her exams to be honest.
I would not recommend taking this course with ingate. Her exams are not what she teaches in class and they are extremely hard. her class is lecture heavy and it is really hard to understand her and understand what she is trying to teach. she lets you take weekly quizzes 2 times and they take the highest score, which helps save your grade.
Tests are exactly what are in the book. Her lectures are so boring and no necessary to go to. Went to class like 3 times and still got an A. Just read the textbook and you'll be good. Honestly a pretty easy A imo.
She's very knowledgeable in her field and although her lectures can be dry and sleep-inducing, if you come to class and pay attention, her class is interesting and useful in life. She has slides but she doesn't read off them as people say, she elaborates a lot, so take notes on what she says, and study her quizzes because it'll help for the exams.
This class is not easy, and she lets you know that from the start. The textbook is lengthy. However, she does want her students to succeed. Her last two exams were based on her lecture slides and a study guide (a list of terms) that she provides. She also curves her exams. Overall, don't take this class if you are not prepared to study.
She was one of the hardest professors I've ever had. Phenomenal professor and an incredible mind. Her speech impediment doesn't always make her the easiest to understand. That being said, if you take good notes during the lecture, ask questions, participate, and actually USE the study techniques she and the textbook teach then you'll do just fine.

Honestly i didn't go to lecture that often bc it was at 8:30, but i still got an A. Take good notes, study quizlets and do all her quizzes and homework! I'm looking to be a child psychologst so i thought the class was interesting, but many people thought otherwise. She is also a little hard to understand/hear, but you get used to it!!
Read the text book!! You will do good on the exam only if you read the text book. He lecture is hard to follow but you have to put in a lot of work for this class

Professor Ingate's lectures can be dry, but the real key is to focus on the textbook. With the help of unstuckstudy ai and other study tools, you can ace this class without stressing too much about attendance.
The course material itself was challenging so having. professor that didn't teach in a way that you could understand was hard. She just lectured, gave 2 exams, gave a project, and that was the class. Do not take if you can't deal with lecture heavy courses with only exams to make ur grade.

She had trick questions on exams and overall class grade was locked which was annoying. Study the book in order to pass, her practice quizzes weren't very helpful either.

She's a nice professor don't get me wrong but her voice will literally make you fall asleep in class. Exams are slightly tricky. All homework assignments/quizzes are all online. She does a slight curve for the exams so thats what basically saved majority of everyone. She does not show or tell you your grade percentage on canvas.
only section for org so had to take an 8:30. did not make the content interesting at all. so slow and slides heavy. go to office hours for participation points. heavily curved our exams because everyone performed poorly.

3 exams = whole grade, exams BASED OFF KEY TERMS! Lecture slides had too much specific info. Optional extra credit presentation option. Offered essay-style final instead of mc after complaints of difficulty. Very knowledgeable woman though and sweet.
Extremely boring and dry. I wish she was able to structure lectures better, its hard not to zone out. You need to go to class and you need to read the textbook because she tests on a lot of things that are not on the slides.
Her lectures are very boring and it's hard to understand sometimes due to her speech impediment, which isn't her fault but you should be aware of if you decide to take this course. Our grades were only the quizzes and exams and it's all text book based. Some of the questions on the exams are random and based on the most minuscule of details.
ingate is extremely knowledgeable and very sweet. her exams are not that bad as long as you study and understand the key terms (she gives you a list for each exam) & most content comes from lectures (attendance is mandatory), but i recommend using the textbook to supplement your learning. only take infant if you're truly interested in the content!
She posts the lecture slides on Canvas but they don't have nearly the same effect as attending in person. The entire GroupMe was freaking out after every test and especially at the end of the semester, worried if we were going to pass.
Took her for infant and for adolescent: the textbook is the most important thing with her! She takes information from the textbook, but skips over stuff. Just reading it through will help you learn the most because she will ask questions on exams that she never went over, but are in the book. Took her before she started doing attendence
Doesn't communicate the rules/outline of the course to students at all. Couldn't tell you if attendance counts or what the deal is with IClicker. EVERY question is a trick question. Slides are vague, lectures have nothing to do w the exam. Weekly quizzes are hidden on Canvas and TA will not answer your emails asking for help. The exams are absurd.
I wish people that didn't go to class/study didn't rate on RMP. It seems like a lot of comments are upset about mandatory attendance and having to read the textbook but I took this course because I think I&CD is genuinely so interesting and actually wanted to learn. The prof is so kind and I go to every single class. But be prepared to read & study
