I agree...no one take her classes (A&P or Microbio.) She is extremely difficult and not much into helping you out if you have any questions. Her exams can kill....especially the essay portion which is worth 20% of your score.

If you are thinking about taking this teacher...don't. Especially if you have plans to get into some sort of medical program and need a C to to get in. She is heartless...I was 6 points from a C and she still gave me a D. Now I have to repeat it.

Do not expect to pass this class with your charm or excuses. This instructor expects effort. The content maybe difficult for some students. To pass her classes record the lectures, answer the essay questions and put out some effort.

The subject is hard so you need to put in your best. Her test are only from notes so if you fail don't blame her. All you do is study her notes don't need to read the text, how easy can it be? Don't let other discourage you trust yourself and study.

She is manipulative, it's as though she gets pleasure out of makin6 student's lives miserable. She jumps from one topic to another in her lectures, very unorganized. Her tests are completely unfair, you can study for weeks and still barley pass her tests. The most annoying part is when she says "ya.

Very hard class. She is not a very good teacher half the class drops out failing, and I am a straight A student who puts in a lot of effort. Don't take this class at Ohlone (go to another school or your GPA will suffer).

This teacher is extreemly hard. Her tests are very unfair and she gives you to much information to memorize and understand at one time. Her essays are 20% of the grade and are alot to remember. She shows no mercy and if you want a good grade and a fair teacher, go elsewhere.

This teacher is the worse teacher I have ever had. She expects you to memorize everything she teachs and thinks you have nothing better to do. Her exams are tricky. Lecture is not very helpful. She doesn't really help you with anything. If you want to learn N get a good grade GO TO ANOTHER COLLEGE!

Very hard teacher, doesn't know the information and mixes things up, tells us wrong information, doesn't try to fix any mistakes we point out. Thinks she's better than us, even if you have a 4.0 you will probably get a C and drop GPA by a lot.

Her lectures are disorganized at times. However, information for exams are usually covered. Lecture exams are not difficult when you go through her essay questions thoroughly. Lab portion is in the ok side. She explains the material, but leaves you to your own accord after lecture portion.

I entered the class with a 4.0 and lots of interest towards the subject. Her teaching style is too frantic and unclear. She often tells you one thing but does another. Overall unforgiving teacher with Hard tests. You need to put out much effort just to get a C-. Worst anatomy teacher ever.

Initially I was very enthusiastic, but not i have a sour taste for A&P. Her lectures are highly unorganized and often not even helpful. Many times I had to teach myself. I worked harder in these classes than any other, still got a C, and the stress is so high you forget everything! What a shame!

Unclear style of lecturing. Tells you one thing to study and puts another on the test. Material is hard, but the teacher is worse. Take Anatomy at another institution. Avoid this teacher at all costs! If you have a 4.0 you will probably get a C or a B in this class. Do not take this class with her!

oh my gosh. I'mso sad that everyone has no liked her. I think she's super knowledgable and clear. she covers a ton of info in her class but only cause she has to. I totally reccommend taking this class. It's hard but you learn so much. It's a community college class taught like a university level course. i liked it!

Initially, I thought everyone misunderstood her and that she seemed fairly nice, but now that I've been in two of her classes I can say she's manipulative and she enjoys making her students miserable. Her lectures are unorganized - she jumps from one topic to another. I can't even say that her courses were beneficial.

The problem with this professor is the lack off help. She has office hours but refuses to open her door completely when you come to talk to her. She smiles and laughs AT YOU with any question you have. She does not have this job b/c she likes teaching this is obvious! Lectures are unclear and unorganized. Good Luck

Hated this class. She doesn't seem to know the material very well. We had to correct her in lecture most days. She is not a very helpful or friendly instructor. We seemed to be bothering her if we asked questions or interrupted her office hours...I thought that was why professors had office hours...I am really really glad this class is over.

A truly hard class. You will need to put in at least 4hrs/day to study this class and still get C. Lecture is very complicated to understand. You will difinitely need a 2nd material besides your textbook to refer too. Lab potion is okey but beware. She is tricky.Tough and somewhat helpful professor.Study,study and study.still a "C"

After spending countless hours studying for Dr Kauffman's class, I still got a D. She jumps around in her lectures, and expects you to know absolutly every small detail about everything. She was not easy to talk to or to deal with. I would not reccommend this instructor to anyone.

Well, when you take AnP, its a given you have to work very hard! Her lectures are unclear when you don't read the book, but if you read before you go to lecture it makes all sence. However, she is not very organized. To stay on top of your game you hae to put in at least 10hrs out of class and pay attention. She will help you if you show ur effort.

This class is a very difficult class in general. Lots of memorization. She gave us tons of 411 but didnt really explain it well in terms of how it related to the outside world. I think that's a very fundamental aspect of the class and she needs to work on that. Most of the time I didnt understand why the info she was giving us is relevant clinically. Don't take her for A/P!

Obviously, this class is going to be hard-it is anatomy and physiology. If you aren't prepared to work don't take it. If you do have to take it, Dr. Kauffman is an excellent teacher. Yes this is a hard class, but you have to put effort into it or youll just fail. an advice is to read a little before class and write the essay quewtions in advance so you can practice for the exam and fro the final. it youll pass with a C for sure if you put enough time in it. shes freindly and somewhat helpful (on essays) good luck

She is a great teacher, once you have put your effort in this class, she is going to give you much more help, clear explaination on your Qs, easy grade on your exam.Her teaching style pushes her students think deeply. If you follow her,you'll see the result, you learn a lot from her and get A. she is one of the greatest teachers I have.

As a nursing student, I now realize that she's so helpful. You would really learn something from her classes. She's hard but take it in mind that it is anatomy and it's about the humany body. Write the eassys and review all the essays before test, you will be fine. You will see how strong background you would have after you take it seriously.

Dr. Kauffman is great. Yes, tests are difficult. Read the text, take advantage of her giving you the test in advance - in the form of ESSAY questions! She is more than willing to help you as long as you show the effort. Seems too many students expect a grade to be handed to them. This is subject material you need to master if nursing is your goal!

This lady gets a bad wrap. There is nothing in her tests that was not covered by lecture. Getting the essay questions in advance is 90% of her test. She won't just hand you a grade, but she is very helpful if you step up to the plate. Hardest class I ever took and I was my favorite.

This woman probably knows her stuff, but she can't teach. She doesn't even want to help the students understand the material, and it's not even worth it to go to her lectures. I say go to chabot to take anat and physio....at least the teachers are willing to help you understand the material.

She knows her subjects well; however, she doesn't teach it very well. Her exams are hard only if you know the subjects in a very detailed manner. She lets you memorize and understand the concepts and materials-- too hard to grasp. Not very fair in grading, I would recommend you taking her for human anatomy and physio- take it at another school.

She is the worst teacher I have ever had in my vast academic career. Her lectures are inadequate, she is extremely disorganized, the labs don't coordinate with the lectures and the exams are unreasonable. All the learning must be done from the book and to do well on the exams you must repeat everything exactly as it appears in the book.

I took Dr. Kauffman's Micro 106 & A&P 103A during the spring of 07. The material is challenging but I've never learned so much from a class, nor worked so hard to get my A's. I recommend her highly if you want to really learn. Be prepared to work hard. She prepares you well by doing essays. Do them. They are a tough but great way to learn.

As a current nursing student, the A&P classes I took from Kauffman is really helping me. What you learn from A&P will be applicable towards your future career. I agree that it wasn't easy. U really need to work for that A & I got it for both classes. Attend class, read assigned readings B4 class, write the essays, have it checked, don't fall behind

Dont know how to teach. Her Lecture/Explanation/English are poor. Exams: questions are VAGUE, give different things than what is covered in lecture. Not based on any book. Lectures/materials NOT USEFUL for Exams. Ask yourself : Does it worth your time to take class with someone who does not care whether students understand what she teaches?

This is my 3rd class with Dr. Kauffman. The material is challenging but she teaches it well and makes herself available to help during office hours, open labs, and study times. Don't miss class, do the reading, don't fall behind, and do the essays. These really help you learn the material and prepare you for the tests. She's highly reccommended.

Not a very good teacher. Lectures never made any sense, she was never willing to help when asked, & tests were insane. What ended it all for me was when my lab group asked her a question, she gave a very annoyed look(heaven forbid we ask questions) & told us she hoped we would never become nurses. She's a discouraging person, & not helpful at all.

Horrible! Example:I have sources at Stanford who helped me with one of her case studies...she gave a Stanford cardiologist 2out of 5 points on a case study of a surgery he actually performed. Take this at another school, she'll screw up your GPA! Took notes, perfect attendance, did essays ahead only scraped by with a C.Her lectures are unorganized!

After taking 103A and Microbiology with her I knew I would learn what I needed for this class. The subject material is difficult but she provided extra study and review times. Her essays really prepare you for her tests, as time consuming as they are to do. I'm entering the nursing program in the fall and feel prepared to study that program.

One of the best teachers I have had. She is hard but gives you every thing you need to pass the class. Things like study guides that she will reveiw for you and even old test so you can get a feel of how she words her tests. The people that say that she's not good are either lazy or just don't put in the time to pass the class.

Dr. Kauffman is definitely not an easy teacher and this class must be your main focus. But if you study hard, read the book and use the online tutorials, and write the essays you'll do fine. Get her opinions on the essays. She grades on what she wants you to include. I'm definitely glad I took her class. She prepares you for the nursing program.

She is one of those teacher who can teach without reading off of her notes. The test is not super hard as long as you study. I aced all the exams studying her lecture notes and the book. She hints what will be on the exam during lectures. She is fair on grading. If you study, you will get what you deserve. No surprises.

Just started the semester, so far, i really like lab. Its pretty simple and study all the tissues and memorizing landmarks..but her lecture is horrible. I hate the way she lectures, if Finney would be there, everyone would understand.Kaufmann has a bad way, she cant teach. A little worried for the exams...

Invest in a digital recorder for lectures. She talks fast and stuff on the exam and practical is in her oral lecture. Practicals are a LOT harder than lecture exams. Do the essays. You do learn a lot, and this class might kill your GPA a bit. I do extracurricular stuff and I have a life. I'm getting an 87% so far and I still fall behind in class.

Her teaching style is boring and monotonous. I don't always learn anything in her lectures, but its good to go to get the notes. For all the tests, I have to teach myself everything by reading the book. I like anatomy, but not this teacher. Take another teacher if possible! Study and tests will be easy. Practicals can be hard so study the models.

Dr. Kauffman is a brilliant professor with knowledge far beyond comprehension. She isn't as clear as professor Finney lecture wise, however she expects students to go the extra mile and study like their lives depend on it. If you want an A or B bad enough, it is definitely possible. Just have to sacrifice a social life for 4 months, you can do it!

Make sure you tell her you're going to her office during open hours or else she won't show up and help you out. She's nice to you when you do visit her in her office, especially if you're concerned about your grade or an essay. Oh and if you hadn't figured it out already, she's a hard grader and is usually the only A&P professor.

Although it is pretty hard to get an A, it's not impossible. Her tests are analytical so it forces students to really understand the material. It's best to read the book before lectures so you're not lost during lectures. She's actually nice and responds to email pretty quickly. She moves fast during lectures so don't get left behind.

I think Kauffman is very intelligent, but it is obvious that she hates teaching and her students.She never responds to emails and flies through lectures like a robot. She often confuses herself (and us) during lectures and reviews.I have a perfect GPA and had to struggle to get a good grade in this class. Be prepaired learn everything on your own.

I know that Kauffman is VERY difficult, but we as students will be better off in the long run by taking her. Apparently her class is kindergarten level compared to nursing school, but the grounding she provides for students is unparalleled to any A&P program in the near area.

Very difficult class, but nice professor! The key to a good grade and lower stress levels is to study in advance. Responds to emailed questions quickly, goes over old exams, and gives back exams/practicals after a week. I'm entering Ohlone's RT program this fall, and I HIGHLY recommended her if you want a great A&P foundation for nursing or RT.

I hated Kauffman when I was taking her A&P classes. I have to admit, now that I am in my medical program, I am so grateful that she had such high standards. She will prepare you for success in your future medical programs and careers. It all pays off in the end!

Kauffman is nice and helpful! She does go in great detail and lectures quickly, so read through the book and record her lectures. Review lecture slides, read the book, do the essays, and go to class, and you will be fine. Ppl complain that she is unfairly hard, but honestly you're just not putting in the effort. You need to earn your grade!

Kauffman is hard but fair. Her essays are helpful in concluding all the material. She is nice and approachable. Even though her grading is hard, but she is always clean and fair about what she is expecting.

By far one of the worst teachers I've ever had. Makes you write at least 8 essays before the test. Youtube will be your best friend, trust me I've learned more from watching videos than her. When reviewing her old exams she regularly gets confused which then confuses you. Tests are very confusing, never know what shes looking for.DO NOT TAKE HER!!

Her class is difficult,but it actually is not as bad as people make it out to be.You can get an A if you’re willing to put in the effort.I recommend taking this class if you have a good grasp on EFFECTIVE study skills.While doing the essays,don’t just write it.Figure out the WHY.Use the lecture notes,book,and watch the mastering videos!Good luck!

She IS very difficult. However, it's not impossible if you acknowledge very early on the amount of work you're going to have to put in. I made the mistake of changing my study habits the first two tests and it almost screwed me over. After that, I went back to what I KNOW works for me, and got A's after that. It's HOURS of studying. Be prepared.

Honestly, greatest teacher I've ever had. I'm a premed student. The class was not work to me because I loved the subject. Moral of the story, only take the class if you are obsessed with the human body. If you aren't interested, you're going to fail.

I had this teacher for both 103A and 103B and it was really difficult. I get mostly As but I was struggling to maintain a B in this class. Don't take too many classes while you take this one; it is very time-consuming. Lots of study and prep required. If you have the drive, you can do it! You won't regret the knowledge you gained from her class.

Kauffman is a great teacher. pushes you but its worth it. Midterms have everything: circle, fill blanks, short answer, and 1 essay. BE PREPARED. Reread essays over & over again and make them into notes. She's there for you when ever in her office. It all comes down to how bad you want to pass. About 2580 took the final in the end of our Bio 103B!

I took 103A and Micro at the same time. She's tough but not impossible. 103B is definitely harder than 103A. KEEP UP WITH HER LECTURES! If you fall behind it's suuuuper hard to catch up. The class is tough and she expects you to work hard, but she's also really sweet and reasonable. She's good about answering questions and helping esp. in lab.

I took 103A and 103B as a requirement for Nursing, and struggled all through, despite doing all the work: essays, reading, visiting professor during office hours, attending every lab and lecture and open lab. Unless you plan on memorizing the book, notes, and everything the professor says in lecture, stay away!

You better attend class and pay attention or youre going to fail. This will be one of the hardest classes you take at Ohlone. Do the essay study guides and get feedback and study off of those because that is what is going to be on the test. Make sure to have a few study buddys and go to the open lab. Its a lot of work but worth it.

Took both 103A &B! Must be self motivated and keep on top of all tasks. Do the essays its the key to passing exams. Have study partners, attend extra labs, open lab, and create study guides. Professor Kauffman has made me a better student. Dedicate yourself to this class as a job and reap the rewards. Part A got a C and part B got a B. Good luck!

The material in this class is overwhelming and difficult to grasp. If you really want to learn, Dr K is your best choice; she is awesome, patient & knowledgeable. You need to write many essays to solidify your knowledge and understanding. She will review and correct your essays and add missing concepts. Take this class alone in the semester.

This teacher is such a joke. Don't waste your time taking her class. I wasted a whole semester taking her class only to drop it with a "W." She is extremely confusing in lecture and she is not clear with what she expects. Plus, her lectures are dry and never ending. Go take A & P at Mission College. They have better science teachers.

This class is very difficult. I am a straight A student and I had to drop this class and get a W. Kauffman is very good at explaining things in the lecture, but the written tests and lab quizzes are extremely difficult, and this is where your grade will lie. Good luck to anyone who takes this class. You better have a lot of time on our hands.

A&P is not an easy class, that's just the reality of most college level science classes. Professor Kauffman knows her stuff, and if you pay attention, study, and ask questions, you will be fine. Be ready to work, but she will help you out a long the way and if you are interested in a medical career then you will want a good teacher like her.

Labs are terrible. We just go in there and do our own thing. I would rather take an anatomy and physiology class at the medical school level than this. The essays are insane and are not a good reflection of what you know. This class should be 6 units

She has a clear grading curriculum and the essays indicate what will be on the exam. I have a B.S in biochemistry and I had to drop this class with a W because I was struggling in the class! The feedback she gives in the essays are very limited so be sure to write as much as you can on them. Otherwise goodluck! I hope you do better than me. :)

She is 100 times better than the only other choice we have at OHLONE. She writes on the board, speaks moderate, clear lecture, and easy to follow if you READ the chapter before comming to class. But if you DONT READ then DON'T take her or BIO A, B here! Make sure you have her for lecture and lab! I wish I took 103A with her and learned something!

Before taking her 103B class, I was worried not to pass her class due to all the comments I've read here, but it turned out to be the opposite to me. She makes things clear. she is ready to help and answer questions. If you want to succeed in her class do your essays, do your lecture questions and ask for explanation when things seem confusing.

On her lab study guide for what we need to know for the lab practicals she put we should know about kidney stones. They in lecture I hear her say she doesnt know how kidney stones are made. How can you put that on the study guide for what we need to know if you dont know it yourself?

Most confusing professor I've ever had. She does lectures based on the essays she assigns for each exam, so her lecture slides are usually the essay question and then she talks about it for 10 minutes. She goes on a lot of tangents, though, and never directly answers the question. Assigns lots of busy work, but I learned nothing in lab or lecture

If you are nursing major I will highly recommend Dr. Kauffman. I scored 96.9% on my TEAS 6 test for anatomy/Physiology, which pushed my total TEAS 6 grade to 92%. With this score I am almost guaranteed for the RN program. Dr. Kauffman is nice, patient, and her materials are actually not that hard if you spend some time. Will definitely take again.

She doesnt teach in a clear consecutive manner. Her lectures are all over the place and youre always leaving more confused. Theres a lot of unnecessary busy work she has us do. She grades super difficult on any exams, you have to have the same exact words used in the textbook not an explanation in your own words. I would not take her again...

She really wants you to learn so you're going to have to put a lot of time into this class. Every weekend you will have at least one essay due(she gives you feedback on what needs work if turned in on time) and you should do all of them. 90% of the exams are branched off the essay questions. Also 103B Lab is more intense than 103A hands down.

She doesn't explain things well. The multiple choice questions in the exams are really hard, not the materials from the book or lecture. Lab quizzes are very hard, and she's a tough grader. Lots of essays for each exam to work on. I studied really hard for this class, but could not get the result I wanted. Won't take her again.

Dr. Kauffman is an amazing professor. Disregard what every negative thing people have to say about her because they're just upset the class is difficult. Difficult teacher to follow and learn from; does not give credit to students' work consistently, gives inappropriate remarks making you feel stupid and inadequate. Class is challenging, interesting and quite doable to get a good grade. Her colleague subbed for her on a test and grades were at least one full grade higher! I am challenging my grade.

I got an A in 103A with Sundar. I only take Anatomy & Physiology thinking that he would teach B as well. But only Kauffman teaches B. The best way to pass the class is you take it twice. Even if you studied hard, you only get B at max. She even confused herself during lecture. She is a nice person but she cant teach. You surely would fail.

I took 103A with Prof Sundar and Prof Kauffman was the only choice for 103B. Make sure you attend all of the lectures. I also read the textbook, relistened to lectures and submitted all of the essays for feedback. This is a harder class than 103A so just be prepared. I studied individually and found what worked for me.

This class is not going to be an easy A. My advice is go to as many office hours as possible, go to class, and read the text. Print out her lectures and add notes to them because she often modifies them or highlights important concepts for the exam. Disregard the negative comments, Dr. Kauffman wants to see you succeed but you need to work for it.

Kauffman is an extraordinary professor. Students who leave negative feedback on this professor are those who are not willing to put in the effort that is necessary for this course. It's not that the material is hard; it's A LOT. 6 essays per test but you only have to do one. DO ALL OR FAIL. DO. YOUR. ESSAYS!!!! ALONG WITH ALL THE OTHER HW. She does NOT go by the book. God! she prepared me way too good for nursing school. she knows her stuff and does her best to explain it. DO THE BOOK READING AND DO THE ESSAYS that's the only way to succeed. As a tutor for 103A/B let me tell you that students who do not spend 4-8 hr/day studying prob wont receive an A. It is not Kauffman who does not know how to teach, but the student who fails to prepare and take the class seriously. Do not expect to have your hand held in this class, it is preparing you for upper division courses. Use your resources.

I hated her when I was in the trenches but here I am in my program and everything Anatomy and Physio related is a cakewalk. Trust the process. She goes hard on you for a reason. So understand those transport systems and know them well. Write those essays. Populate those study guides and save them. You will see it all again.

This class has suffered majorly since Covid. Lab times are wasted on verbal spews of information and lecture is usually a failed attempt at going over lecture set questions. Basically you do all the work (7 essays and 60-80 lecture set questions per exam) outside of class time and receive VERY little/no feedback until you get your exam grade.

The subject is difficult as it is but Kauffman does a good job teaching the material and actually prepares you for nursing. She goes way more in depth than the crap textbook which is probably why this class is hard but she explains the concepts well. This class will take up a lot of time but if you study and do the essays you can get an A.

TAKE THIS COURSE AT A DIFFERENT COLLEGE! Margaret is the ONLY professor at Ohlone that teaches this, horrible at feedback, graded by very little things. Study guides are not helpful at all. Only chance at passing is if you take it a second time, dont waste your time and money! The BIO103A professor was amazing. Margaret is horrible in comparison.

Dr. Kauffman is very detailed with what she teaches. ESSAYS ARE A MUST!! I personally struggled on exams with the essays since she wants every little detail filled out on a multi page essay. She really knows her material and goes in depth on all topics but you must put in the work to succeed with her. Good luck with A&P!
