Extremly confusing, rambling. will not help you if she doesn't have the time. Show up for class and agree with her or else you will suffer in your grade. avoid her at all costs. avoid the frustration and take any other professor!

She acted like she was right about everything. She ramled about nothing quite a bit which was confusing. Used the words "i digress" quite a bit which was annoying. Just pretend she is right and suck up and you will be alright.

LOTS of reading, writing & thinking; she assumes you are as smart as she. Uses blackboard and provides you w/a lot of info, reviews well for tests, lectures are interesting & she expects participation. VERY challenging. You'll work hard and learn lots.

She sounds exactly like GWB. The entire semester was a repeat of "German history is harddddd. We're workin' harddddd." And you never seem to get anywhere, just like the war on terror. This woman terrorizes students exactly the same way that bin Laden did to women in 1999. Avoid! Achtung!

She frustrated easily and after awhile, didn't seem to want to be there; Probably the smartest prof on the floor but if you are intimidated by smart women, you'll hate her; Funny, but you can't gauge her sense of humor b/c she can be moody sometimes; She needs to relax and learn to love email.

Working with her is like running a pole vault comp blindfolded. You know there is a high bar, you need to run fast, your pole needs to hit the right spot...and the entire time: your coach gives you NO feedback, refuses to meet with you, and then berates you about your personal life. She's a dud.

She is extremely intelligent and will make you a better writer. She does have high standards and there is a lot of reading and writing but it is all very interesting subject matter. Take this class if you want a challenge.

I loved Dr. Maggie. She took us to the Tap Room on the day of the final and we got to see a side of her that most didn't see in the classroom. An outstanding person, I recommend her to anyone who is serious about history. Go to class and take notes (or get them off the net... yes they're there). Great professor if you're serious about college.

well lets see here. Did not learn a thing. She is the only one in the world who knows German history, so do not bother taking her class because there is no talking to the woman, what can you say, she knows everything, so what kind of discussion can one have with her. And do not correct her mistakes that will only give you a bad grade

Her lectures were boring and hard to follow, and the multiple choice quizzes were painful... BUT, she was always very helpful, and the Essay portions of the class were extremely fair. Caution though: PEOPLE TEND TO TAKE HER HUMOR THE WRONG WAY.

Don't take this prof if all you want is an easy grade. She will make you work for it, but it is so worth it. I loved this class, and I would definitely reccomend it. Just make sure that you're coming to class every day. You'll get a better grade if you speak up once in a while too.

Overall, I did not like her class. The only redemption was her humor at times. I didn't really like how condescending she was. Smart? Yes. Elitist? Without a doubt. Rude? Perhaps she didn't mean to be, but that is how she came across. She was also a very picky grader.

If you are a good student and enjoy history, you should like her. Start from the first day trying to get on her good side, and she will like you too. Super intelligent and fiercely witty, she is a rare find at this school.

Possibly the best prof at TxState. She requires you to learn and have a thorough understanding. Witty, extremely smart, and interesting lectures. If you came to school to get an education, then you can't do better than her. If you're looking for an easy A, you shouldn't be in college in the first place.

Im not going to talk about anything but the numbers for her class. At the begin. in my class we started with 42 students. Finals day 17 people were in attendance. Do the math. Class average was a D- after the finals came out. I will say this, you do have to do your work if you dont want to be the ones that has to drop.

She's a horrible teacher. Abusive, manipulative, and rude. She might have a harvard degree, but she clearly has no concept of how to lead a class. She has no sense of what is appropriate and unappropriate to share with her students. She tries to be cool by telling you about her private life. It would be better to learn about history.

To be honest I wasnt all that happy with her. I am a history major and I am having a really hard time in this class. She is a decent teacher, but I wouldn't suggest too many people taking her.

Good students will like her, slackers will think she's too hard. She is one of my personal faves in the history department. People that think she is rude are just used to being coddled. She puts a lot of effort and materials into each lecture and gives you tons of resources for help.

Worst History Teacher Ive had at Texas State, I go to class all the time and spend a good amount of time on my assignments and all she has to say about my papers is my historical accuracy should be checked and gives me a poor grade. Lectures dont help at all, and then expects you to use her as a source. its nearly impossible

Dr. Menninger is a thorough and exemplary professor perfect for students who are prepared to both work and learn. Witty and fully qualified, she teaches with a well balanced combination of casualness and authority suitable for a tenure professor who truly embraces what it means to do what one loves and thusly passes on that passion to her students.

The worst professor I ever had at any college (back in 2002). Rude egomaniac. She rambled about Harvard and her ex-husband, but ignored your needs as a student. She expected respect and sympathy, but gave none in return. She had no concept of writing quality, giving D's and F's regularly. She's been a burden to students for years. Avoid! Beware!

Dr. Menninger kicks all kinds of ass. Her classes aren't easy, and if you can't handle humour, then don't bother. I detect little ego other than what it takes to stand in front of people and profess. If you don't like her, fine. That will make it easier for others to get into her classes; they are nearly always full.

Believe it or not, Dr. Menninger is human. Yes, she is brilliant, but she is not terrifying. If you go into her class knowing this and applying any of the same ethics you would in any other class you take seriously, you will do fine. Don't kiss her ass and don't try to have a pissing contest, take notes and if you have a question, ask.

Mandatory Attendance, Hardest Grader Ive ever had. She knows a lot for sure, but is definitely on a high horse. for each test 20% was being able to memorize about 200 specific dates and putting 20 of them in order. She gave me a D+ on one of the best essays Ive written. I put A LOT of work in and apparently just wasnt getting the main points.

Very good prof, you are allowed 4 absences. Easy class but make sure you have a good thesis early in semester and start on the 15 page paper as soon as you can and you will do fine.

The hardest professor I've ever had but it's expected of an upper level history course. She is an amusing teacher. When studying use the handouts to go along with the powerpoint slides. Look at both before class and take really good notes.

Professor Menninger loves history, its painstaking obvious, but is a EXTREMELY hard grader and is tough. Shes tough with her quizzes (which I read most chapters) and did horribly on! Quizzes are X-Choice and tough. If you are not a decent writer DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. Tests are all essays and prompts given b/f class which is why she grades so hard

One of the worst teachers I've had. She really enjoys what she is talking about but when you ask for help she is kind of rude. I am a history major and after her class I want to change my major. test are hard and so are quizzes. Also quizzes are worded in the most confusing way possible so even if you study they are hard to pass.

I have taken Dr Menninger for three classes.All of them were challenging, even Western Civ.However, she makes them very interesting.Dr M is a wealth of knowledge and that only became more apparent when I had her for Senior Seminar.She knows something about everything.Very funny and Meryl Streep hot.Don't regret taking her a bit despite my grades.

Here's the deal. College is not the 13th Grade. She expects her students to be able to analyze a topic, formulate an idea, and support it with facts. Her quizzes require basic reading comprehension, and her lectures are relevant, interesting and funny. If you plan on a degree in History, take her.

This was by far the hardest class I have ever taken... And one of the most fun. She's hard, but an excellent teacher, funny, and very willing to help if you actually want help, not the answer. Expect a bit of eccentricity and a lot of work, but you will learn, guaranteed.

A professor that not only pushes you to new limits, but one that takes a genuine interest in both her students and her subject. Don't expect an easy A. She is demanding, but if you are up for the challenge, take her class. Do your reading! Prepare for class!

Fantastic professor! I changed majors mid-semester, which made her class obsolete but I refused to drop it! She is hard, but, this is also an upper level course! Tests are easy if you do the study guide; my God, she GIVES you the questions she'll be asking! I highly recommend her class!

Prone to gossip about students behind their back. I enjoyed the course, but her choice of textbook was poor, and her constant squinting whenever she addressed a student got annoying. Wish she would act like a real person and not an 'academic'. Not personable, but very intelligent. Wouldn't take another class with her, but I'd recommend it.

National Socialism class. Fantastic professor! Very hard and very worth it. I learned more from her than any professor I have had. Very thorough and expects a lot. YOU MUST READ! I would take any class from Dr. M. If you are not prepared school beyond high school, don't take this class.

In this upper division course I took with her on European history, she is a very big egoist and she feels your input really doesn't matter. I didn't feel helped by her at all, and this might just be my preference but her lectures are not chronological they are kind of all over the place. She is also a very rude person thus hard to seek help from.

Class lectures are set around topics, not chronologies, but it is required a general and chronological understanding for exams. Be detail oriented and mostly articulated in defending your position in your essays (in-class exams & research papers). Professor has great knowledge of topic (and outside too) - IF YOU WORK HARD, YOU'LL BE FINE!

I absolutely LOVE dr.m. She's is sarcastic & a bit harsh so if you offend easily don't take her class. She challenges you, but establish a relationship & she will help you out as much as possible. Read the book, come to class & participate in discussions, & you will do extremely well

The absolute worst professor I have ever had. I have never met a more rude teacher in my life. She is the type of professor that will take a subject you love and make you absolutely hate it. I wouldn't take her again if my life depended on it. I've made all A's in college and I'll be lucky if I make a C

Dr. M is a wonderful professor. Students who want an intellectually stimulating course and quality, substantive feedback should take her course. Sure, her writing comments might initially seem harsh, but if you read her notes, she genuinely cares about her students improving.

A very challenging professor. I respect her as an academic. I don't know that she is a great professor. The class calls for soooooo much reading and then she gets mad if you come to class not ready to discuss it. Class is solely discussion based. She can sometimes be very rude and will even argue with students. Very sarcastic and not very helpful

Dr. Menninger is a very funny gal (although her sarcastic humour may not be for everyone) & she cares deeply about her students. There are quite a few assignments & they are tough sometimes, but she gives a lot of extra She is almost always open to meeting with you outside of class. She is a Harvard graduate, & it was a pleasure being taught by her

Dr. M is the kind of prof you want if you are serious about college. She is deeply read on her subject & respected internationally (Harvard grad). That said, she can be a bit short in class, but don't take it personally and she respects students who argue back. She loves fearless students who do the reading and show it by participating in class.

Probably one of the worst professors I've ever had. She does not know how to teach and it seemed as if EVERY SINGLE answer given by me or another student was immediately wrong. Not great feed back, was excited to take this class and now I am coming out of it very disappointed. Don't recommend.

This class was challenging, but it is an advanced history course. I found her to be engaging and humorous. Her feedback was always helpful; the class itself was just hard for someone who had never taken an advanced class. Going to office hours helped a lot, and he bumped up my final grade a bit. Dr. Menninger is amazing; I'd take her class again
