gr8 teacher. makes psy fun and interesting. clear examples, knows how to teach!
very clear about what she expects
Good teacher, but tests can be confusing at times. As the semester went on, her tests relied more on book material than lecture notes. Probably a good idea to attend all lectures, she asks a lot of questions about experiments she talks about in class.
she gets good ratings but she's extremely boring. You have to go to class so try not to get the morning class or you'll be falling asleep. enjoy
Very good teacher who is always willing to help, but very boring! I slept almost everyday in class!!!
crazy lady, this woman always smiles, its like my mom teaching a class
Very good teacher. She gives you a Powerpoint presentation of the notes, but you should write down what she says about the points, too. Is kind of quiet, which leads to her being bored... If you're interested in psychology, this isn't much of a problem. Tests are fairly easy, and she gives EC.
She's very smart and very cheery, but her class can be somewhat boring. I'd take another one of her classes if I was a PSY major.
Sooo smiley!! Intersting class and a good teacher, slightly difficult material though.
Although the material was rather hard, Dr. Nauta made it very easy and clear what she wanted us to know. At first I was confused about her tests, but after a bit I came to understand what she was looking for us to study for - Pay attention!
She is a good teacher, the class can get boring but she trys to make it fun...she is ALWAYS smiling!
She should really understand that this is just an introduction to psychology. Her tests are hard and her class is boring. I spent the majority of the time sleeping and then she asks you to take out a sheet of paper for an in-class reaction.
This class has the potential to be interesting, unless Nauta is your teacher. Weighing in at a total of 95 pounds, this woman is so boring its painful! If you do get stuck in her class, make sure it's not 1st thing in the morning, or you're hopeless!! If you need a good nap, you can count on PSY 101
I liked her, the material is pretty boring but you can tell that she really enjoys psychology and she really wants everyone to learn. She also tries to learn everyones name in a huge lecture. I like her a lot, just make sure to study a lot for the exams and write down all of her examples.
Very friendly and never in a bad mood. A lot of the info is interesting but she uses the same monotone voice so it does get boring. you can tell she really cares about the material and overall a good teacher
She was a very good teacher. I liked her class a lot. I had to study hard for tests, but it was worth it. She is my favorite prof. at ISU so far.
Very nice lady, always smiling. I thought the class was very easy and I hardly studied for the tests. She takes questions right off of the the study guides, has review sessions for tests and give EC. There is no reason you can't earn an A as long as u go to class and take good notes.

shes so cute and amusing, but the class just gets kinda long and ongoing....its okk tho shes a good teacher.....i havent taken ne tests yet so we'll see if theyre hard
She talks to us like we are in kindergarten but shes easy.
Talks to us like we're little kids
she is awesome
All I can say is BORING. She left in the middle of the semester so she could have her baby and thank GOD. Tests are easy, big lecture. Not too many notes to take in class.
She was the best professor I've had at ISU so far! Easy extra credit (volunteering for easy research studies) She explained all material clearly, and all of the test questions were from class notes or study guides. She was never mad! Easy class-just review before tests! Bonus - no final exam, but you can take one to replace a bad test score!
Great teacher and one of the best that I had at ISU so far. VERY understandning and will work with you. Only three tests is grade but the extra credit is beyond easy. Two Thumbs Up!!!
VERY good teacher. Lectures were a little bit boring but tests were easy and she told some pretty interesting stories. Tests were easy and she offers lots of extra credit
She made psycology interesting and easy. I really liked her. I never used the book and only studied off of the notes I took and got an A.
we never ever used the book in this class.. the lectures were pretty boring though (i had the 75 min class instead of the 50 min one though.. so that might be why) -- she had a story for EVERYTHING.. you rarely had to show up for class except for reaction papers.. as long as you studied the notes, youd do good in the class.. she was nice though :)
Class is hard! She doesnt explain the material well and the she makes the tests very hard! i wish i would not have taken the class because it was a gen. ed!
i had her first semester and i had the 75 min class too and thought it draggggged on! you didnt need the book. to me her tests were kind of hard b/c she worded them so oddly. it is, however, easy to get an A if you try and are there for the reaction papers she gives (easy 5 points if youre in class that day)
She’s not exciting, but her teaching is very clear. She shows video clips that really help and her powerpoints are concise. The tests are pretty easy but watch out- you have to read the book, some questions are straight from it. The study guides were very helpful. She seems to think teaching undergrad is below her, but she does it well nonetheless.
Interesting material taught. She is clear with everything, makes study guides, is extremely nice and very fair. Shows videos to demonstrate material learned. Also uses powerpoints. Do the reading, pay attention in class, complete the study guides and you'll do fine. *Also note she'll spring surprise open note quizzes in class, so mak sure you go.
She's really nice in class in the lecture hall, and she gives you all the notes in class, so you really don't have to read for the test.
Go to class and take the notes because they're not online. She has "reaction papers" where at the end of class she asks a question and you write a paragraph answer. She does these randomly and they're worth 5 points so go to class to do those. Do psych experiments for extra credit. Don't need the book, just take notes and fill out study guides.
go to class bc its all powerpoints...not hard at all but notes NOT online...U DONT NEED TO BUY BOOK...she has reaction papers...just go to class and do them its an easy 5 points...she has 6 of them...take good notes and study a little bit ull be fine for an easy B if not an A...teacher is easy to understand and shows video clips often and stories
Amazing teacher. If you can, take her!! Everything is clear. You have to go to class because that's the only way to get notes and she has reaction papers every so often. Lots of extra credit oppurtunities easy A. Everything is made clear in lectures and tests are pretty easy.
VERY HARD TESTS!!! I went to every class, went to the review sessions, read the book and studied for hours....i also went in and talked to her and I still got a D on every test!! Very confusing...first D in my life and I was a straight A student in high school...take a different teacher because of her tests!!
Awesome teacher she is very nice and helpful. You should def. take this class if you have a chance. Attendance is mandatory but i found the material pretty interesting and she makes the class fun. Test are not too hard if you follow the study guide and read the book. You should get the book because she will test you on material not in the notes.
i love this class, her test are not that bad if u study, u need the book because she will ask u questions from it. and you have to go to class since the notes arent online. but once i was sick and didnt go and i emailed her and she will give you the notes.
She's awesome! I didn't really care for psyc before this class but she rocks. very sweet and her TA's are not only extremely helpful but hot too! Go NAUTA!
She is an awesome professor. She really makes the material interesting. As long as you read the book before class and study a bit before exams it's an easy A! No cumulative final! Just a fourth exam. TAKE HER!
BEST PROFESSOR EVER!!! She's really nice and the material is very understandable! This class is an easy A. She's always willing to help. As long as you go to class, take notes, read over the study guide and look over the book you will be FINE! She also offers serveral review sessions before tests. GO NAUTA!!!
COOL AS HELL....EXPECT TO GET A FAIL if you don't go to class and read the textbook. No notes online. She has like 6 reaction papers that are given anytime in class. Some of the stuff on test are from the text book so read it.
Pretty easy class. As long as you go to lecture and do the reading you should be fine.
Seriously boring class and was hard to attend twice a week. Tests were alright if you studied and attended lecture. She tried to make things interesting with clips and interactive experiments but still hard to pay attention.
This class is super easy, especially if you took any sort of high school psychology class. The teacher is very nice and the exams are easy. I only go to class because of the reaction papers she randomly gives out. Just jot down the notes she displays on the screen and go over them & the definitions on the Review guide & you'll have an A
I took this class just to fulfill a gen-ed requirement. It was actually a very interesting class. She gave really clear and easy notes. Everything was easy to understand. I only studied one night before each test and did very well. By best advice is GO TO EVERY CLASS. If you attend every class, take good notes, and pay attention it will pay off.
Very nice teacher. She is very helpful especially when you come to her office hours. DO THE EXTRA CREDIT! Keep up with the readings.
Dr. Nauta was an awesome teacher. She was so sweet and very helpful. I didn't even have to study that hard and got A's and one B on the tests. I would highly recommend taking Psych 110 with Dr. Nauta
She's a great teacher who explains materials very well. You can tell she's a sweet woman with a passion to teach. I would recommend her in a heart beat
I would definitely recommend this class. She knows the material extremely well and gives great examples to help you better understand. She's very concerned with how people are doing in the class. Definitely do some extra credit because you can earn up to 20 points total.
My favorite teacher so far! It was an easy, fun class. Professor Nauta is a FANTASTIC teacher! I strongly recommend her :)
Fairly easy class since she does a great job preparing you for the tests and provides multiple opportunities for extra credit. Nice relaxing voice too
amazing professor. she's very likable and definitely knows what she's talking about. she does a very good job of explaining the materiel so it is easy to understand and prepares you for tests
Nauta was a wonderful teacher. I was going to go into elementary education but because of this teacher, I switched to Psychology. She is honestly one of the best teachers I've ever had. She can be very quiet when teaching but it is very clear and she is very welcoming. I am so happy that I had her as a teacher.
She was extremely sweet. Her class was the BEST psych class I have taken in a while. The material was fairly easy and studying wasn't that difficult. Take. This. Class.
Awesome teacher. Makes the material so incredibly clear. You have to do good on the tests though because they are a major part of the grade. Definitely do the extra credit, and do it early! This is very possible to get an A and it's actually quite interesting.
Very good and easy teacher! Follow along in the textbook and go to class every once and a while and there's no way you won't get an A! She explains everything very well and uses real life examples. Made psych interesting.
her notes in class are good to study for tests. as long as you look at the study guide and know what each term means and an example of how to apply it to the real world youll get an a on her tests. get a tutor it really helps, her tests are all application questions and difficult at times unless you study super hard
Very helpful, straight forward in class and repeats things very clearly. Reading the text really helps to understand the lecture. She uses real word examples and seems to care a lot about psychology. Very helpful at office hours with whatever you need.
Great teacher! I went to almost every class and got a high A. Study for the tests and maybe review over the textbook and you'll be fine. She's really nice too!
GET THIS TEACHER!!! She shows an obvious enthusiasm for what she is teaching, and she posts a really great study guide for each test. As long as you take notes and go over the study guide she posts, you will get an A.
Awesome lady. Gives really clear, straight-forward tests and notes. You have in class reaction papers and tests but everything is laid out clearly. She can be a tad boring, but gives lots of examples. Really great course that I actually enjoy attending.
Wonderful teacher. Class is interesting, and examples are great. Love the videos. Everything is very clear. She lays out what you should read in the book which only takes a few hours per unit of the course. Study a little bit the day or two before the test and go to class and you will do great.Got high As on all my tests. Take her for Psych!
Delightful teacher! Don't underestimate the course, though - While there is little work to do, the tests are no walk in the park. Definitely use the book to study. She's generally clear, but if you don't understand something she's easy to reach both through office ours and email. Very nice lady. Make sure to attend daily for random responses!
She's a very sweet, quiet lady. I loved the way she lectures, but her test are so hard!! They're application questions and that makes them so much harder. If you're going to take her do the extra credit and study a lot. Not bad but I wish I would have taken someone different.
She was an amazing teacher. It's such a great class, however though her lectures are thorough memorize the situations that she has along with the concepts. Those are her test questions. She's got a very soothing voice too.
She was such a nice professor! She explained things so well in her lectures. I hardly needed to use the book- only to look up certain definitions. If you go to class she has random "reaction papers" for an extra 5 points each. I definitely recommend her she made me love psychology! Such a sweet, nice lady.
I loved dr. Nauta!! She is seriously the sweetest lady ever and has the most soothing voice. She is genuinely kind and has a great passion for teaching psychology. This class went by so fast because I was never bored and she always keeps your attention. Such a smart and pleasant lady. Take her class!!
wonderful professor. explains things and trys to get students involved in lectures. has random "in class reaction papers", so attendance is a good idea. exams also greatly reflect class notes
go to glass listen and use her study guides i got a d in my last psych class re took it with her got an a her teaching style is great.
I'm going to make this very simple. JUST GO TO CLASS, TAKE NOTES, AND STUDY. Easiest class ever if you TRY. I'm not doing too hot because I enjoy skipping. But when I do attend I understand everything she's talking about, and do good on those part of the exams!
She is one of the best teachers that I've had here. Doesn't put notes online, so you have to go to class but if you do that and take notes and study, you'll definitely get an A. The way that she teaches is extremely easy to understand and she's super nice too. If you have to take PSY110, TAKE HER.
the nicest lady in the world. explains everything clearly and is a great person overall!!! Her class is easy too.
Easy course. Nauta is a good professor. Take this class for an easy B and a slightly difficult A. If you want the A, you have to study and attend class.
Dr. Nauta is the nicest woman in the world. Thoroughly explains concepts and keeps class interesting. Basic Psychology course, similar to high school level. Easy A. Great course and teacher!
She's the sweetest lady in the world, but she has this mousy voice and it can really bore you and put you to sleep during lecture. A lot of the information taught is close to common sense, but her exams are unnecessarily wordy and she has ATTENDANCE QUIZES. Just skip the class after one
She is a sweet teacher, & always willing to help any & every student. HOWEVER, the exams are extremely & unnecessarily hard. I'd spend 8 hours studying, knowing the entire studyguide, front and back, and still receive a C on tests. Lectures were boring. If you take this class, i HIGHLY recommend to do the EC each unit to be able to pass the class
Like others have stated, the study guide and reading the material aren't enough to do well. The tests are among the worst scantron tests i've had. Often confusing, and a LOT of material on them. Also, she has a "pop essay" type method of taking attendance, so if youre sick on the wrong day, watch out..she also uses a different book than most.
She's a great professor and breaks everything down for you. Really the only bad things I can say are she doesn't post her notes online and her voice is kinda annoying :o
Good teacher, has a well organized set of slides for each lecture. Very easy class, tests are not bad if you go to class, listen, and know the basic definitions of the vocab words on the study guides. Many extra credit opportunities. Take this class with Nauta.
Loved her! She's passionate about the material and cares about the students
Very nice but her tests are near impossible. Totally over done study guides are almost no help.
VERY easy class. You don't need to read the book AT ALL if you go to lecture, imo. I didn't go to class for 2 units & read instead & got worse grades than I did on the other exams where I just went to class. She explains everything w/ GREAT clarity! I was 4 pts. (2 questions on the final) away from a B & she didn't round up. GO to lecture 4 EASY A.
Very easy class, she's passionate about what she does and if you ask her for help she's there, extremely nice woman. Downside is she's just so boring, it's really hard to pay attention when she lectures. Attendance isn't mandatory but the readings don't help, everything that is on the exams is in the lecture so going to class is really important.
She is a great teacher. Very passionate and makes sure everyone understands the material. Ridiculously easy course with easy tests. Should be an easy A.
She is a very boring teacher, lectures can be really long. But she does not post her class notes to ReggieNet. So if you want a good grade you need to go to class. The information is pretty straight forward. The material is comparable to a high school Psyc. class. Easy B if you show up to class, if you really love Psyc. you can get an A.
I love Professor Nauta! She is super knowledgeable in Psychology and very interesting to listen to. I took Psych in high school so I knew most of the material she gave us but she gave me an awesome refresher and was very clear with all of the material. You are supposed to read parts of the book prior to each lecture but I never did.
Lectures were pretty boring if you don't have a big interest in psychology. 75 min lecture. There are 20 points of extra credit possible throughout the semester that I would take advantage of. Only 4 tests that are tough but not impossible.
I got an A in her class because I asked questions, NEVER skipped lecture, and listened attentively. This lady is so smart and she knows what she is talking about. Loved her.
I took Psychology in high school, so I had prior knowledge before this class, which did make things easier. However, she is a great professor who is very passionate about what she teaches and I learned a lot from taking her class. She has about 5 reflection papers throughout the semester on random days, so go to lecture.
I took Psy 110 with Professor Nauta and although the lectures could get a bit boring she is such a nice lady. The tests are very straight forward and are not hard if you show up to class and pay attention. Would recommend her to anyone who needs to take this class!
Super easy class if you pay attention and come to class. You don't have to do the readings in the syllabus because the study guide will outline things you are tested over. Tons of opportunities for extra credit. Gives practice exams on reggie net before test. Super easy class.
Super nice lady and there for you if you need help. Overall easy class and interesting. She gives extra credit and the tests are not very hard at all. Don't really need the textbook but its helpful to have it since some questions on the test are from information from the book.
She has in class reaction papers at random times, so attendance is necessary. She gives a lot of examples in class, and relates everything to life situations. She has a lot of knowledge in the field.
Dr. Nauta is very clear and organized in presenting the material. Seems extremely knowledgeable and grades fairly. Tests are heavy part of your grade and are only 30 MC questions. Best study method for me was taking notes in class and paying attention to what she is saying because she gives great examples to illustrate concepts.
Ms. Nauta is an amazing professor! Her lectures are always well organized and she makes the material easy to understand with plenty of examples. She's also very knowledgeable and makes learning enjoyable. The tests aren't too hard either if you pay attention and study. And although, there is a textbook I never used it so don't buy it right away.
Better be a good test taker if you're taking this class. I took it because I was told that it's easy but I have struggled with every test getting D's when I'm normally an A-B student. I go to every class and take good notes but these tests are close to impossible. Also, wish she would make her classes more interesting.
Surprisingly hard class and this is coming from someone in their 6th semester at Isu. Nice lady but avoid!
Your grade is passed heavy upon 4 exams, including final exam.
Nauta does not require attendance but she has random in class assignments so miss class at your own risk. Make friends for the notes if you miss class. The only things that go in the grade book are 4 tests that are made to trick you along with the in class assignments. Five extra credit points are available each unit, I highly recommend doing them.
I love Dr. Nauta! She is willing to work with you and she is a wonderful teacher who is very knowledgeable and passionate about her subject! For me, this class was very easy, but I am usually a good student and study hard. If you go to class and listen and take notes you can easily pass this class! But you do have to give it some effort!
grade consists of 4 exams, in class assignments, and extra credit. so if you are good at taking tests you'll be fine for this class.
She is a really amazing teacher, she makes everything easy to understand. Show up to class the lectures are important. The test are hard and you have to study from the book not only notes. She is really the best.
I found Dr. Nauta's lectures to be very interesting. She is very knowledgeable and her powerpoints are easy to understand. Some days can be a little dry but overall she is a great professor.
You take about 2 pages of notes every class period, so if you're there you'll get a good grade on the tests. There's a lot of extra credit opportunities, so take advantage of them.
She was great! The tests were pretty easy if you study. The lectures are easy to follow
Wonderful professor. She really cared about the subject and always made sure people understood what was going on. You still need to work in this class though, just taking the necessary time to prepare. Also offers a lot of extra Credit opportunities.
I loved Ms. Nauta, very kind and funny. Class was easy to follow and the information was all on the powerpoints. I slept through most classes and came to class on a day I didn't know there was a test and got a 76 without studying, very easy class.
Margaret is the first professor at ISU that is awesome at lectures. She is smart in the Psych field and she is great at explaining and keeps us on task. I have lecture 2x a week, each class is heavy with notes but that is the only way you'll pass.
This class wasn't hard, but you need to make sure you show up, because a lot of the test is based off of the lectures. The material is interesting but she's kinda boring. But other than that it was a good gen ed class!
Important to show up to lectures and read text book. Not very funny, but easy to understand. Pay attention, and easy to pass.
If you attend class and write down the notes, this class is easy. Dr. Nauta makes this class about as easy as she can. The material itself is very dry but not hard to understand. If you write the notes down and do her online study guides, the tests are pretty easy. There are in class response paragraphs but they are not regular.
I had her 2x/w at 9:35am but class was never a drag to me. Interesting info that she couples w/ videos and explains in ways everyone can understand. I did not get the textbook & was still able to do well on exams (go to class!) 4 exams & 6 in-class react papers (5 pts each). Plenty of extra credit ops. Holds review sessions. Final not cumulative.
Lectures are long and boring, and sometimes will put you to sleep. Nauta gives detailed study guides, which if you complete with effort, youll get an A on the exams. Lots of extra credit opportunities.
If you're looking to take an easy elective or gen ed course this is not the option for you. Grade is basically made up of 4 tests with 50 questions. Each question has five answers and they are not straight forward and are often made to slightly trick you. Although she is a well educated professor, you're better off taking something easier for gened
Professor Nauta is very passionate about her field. She presents the topics in a very organized way and uses a lot of examples to get them to stick. Her powerpoints are organized so it's really easy to take notes and know what they mean when looking back. Her class was interesting!
She is very good at making the material stick in your head. During lecture she applies ALL of the notes to real life and it makes it easy and interesting to learn. She gives "reaction papers" occasionally for credit so if you aren't there you can't do them. Okay exams, and she doesn't give a final. She gives practice exams that are like the exams.
Mostly lectures, try to come to class to take notes because tests are really important. Psych is always pretty information heavy but she is good at breaking it down and explaining everything.
She only gives tests and if you can't do good in those then you aren't passing the class
This class was one of the easy classes I've taken at ISU. Grade is comprised only of 4 test grades and in-class reaction papers. She provides opportunities for extra credit as well. If you show up to class and review you notes before the exams you will get an A in the course.
Professor Nauta is a great professor! There are 4 tests and in-class reaction papers. No homework. You have to go to class to pass. The lectures cover everything that will be on the test. Make sure to study everything in your notes. As long as you attend class for the notes and in-class reaction papers and study, you will pass easily.
Margie is the most helpful professor I have had at ISU both in and outside clas. She is excellent at delivering engaging and relevant information and preparing you to do well for the exams. I highly recommend taking her course to anyone who needs to take PSY 110.
Took this class online during COVID. I loved this class so much, make sure you take notes. Class is asynchronous, which weekly lecture videos. Some are lengthy but her voice and teaching style made me so excited for this class every week. We didn't have a final but had todo weekly, written questions and quizzes on the lecture video.
This was a super easy A. All you had to do was watch lectures for the week at your own time. It was asynchronous and you just had a weekly quiz and short response and that was it.
Dr Nauta was amazing. I might actually want to minor in psychology because of this class. Perfect for beginners and lectures are great! Book is necessary, but I mainly skim and scanned it and did fine! A ton of extra credit available: either participate in surveys or type papers on articles or studies. I did both. Easy A, weekly quizzes, no final!
10000% recommend taking Dr. Nauta. She is an amazing person, and her class is well-organized. If you're in a hurry doing the work for the week, I would recommend only taking notes from the book and not watching the lectures. Most of the information overlaps. Still, I adore Dr. Nauta and would take her again in a heartbeat.
Nauta is the most unaccommodating professor Ive ever had. She questions ever accommodation I get through disability services and refuses to allow extensions on things that are not university excused absences. For example, I had to miss class unexpectedly for a funeral of a close family friend, when I emailed her asking to make up a paper, said n
I love this professor! She is cooler than a cucumber! We take notes on slides and then are tested over them. You can receive extra credit by participating in psychology studies. The test and reaction paper (over class that day, worth 5 points) makes your overall grade! Defiantly would have spaghetti tacos with :)
Professor Nauta is an amazing woman! The way she teaches her lectures is very engaging as she doesn't rush through the material, she shows videos, uses demonstrations, and gives many examples. The key to passing this class is READING THE BOOK, doing extra credit, and of course studying. Also, the bulk of your grade is made up of 4 exams
Do not take this class. Her exams were worded terribly, she did not give any curves or try to help her students. We had 6 in class reaction papers and you could not make it up. Her lectures are boring, study guide not helpful, she has practice exams let you guess only one time and if you don't get it right then you just wont know the correct answer
Dr. Nauta was a great professor! Her lectures could be boring, but she was great at explaining everything. If you take notes and study a bit you'll do just fine on the tests.
Best lecture format to take notes from, very clear on what was on the test. Was a little fast at times, but the exams were always pretty easy. Would absolutely recommend this professor!
Not much in the grade book, pop quizzes were very easy, and Nauta clearly very knowledgeable. If you have an interest in psychology you will enjoy this class. the main takeaway - you need to show up to lectures and do need to study, lots of vocab words and apply them. book is needed for said vocab but this class never was a struggle
Can get away with not buying the textbook as she goes over the reading completely in the lectures, and there are pop writing quizzes sometimes but you can make them up at office hours. If you make a group me people will send the lecture notes so you wont have to be in attendance.
She's so sweet but you HAVE to study for tests and pay attention in lecture to succeed
Nauta is a good lecture teacher and goes over all of her slides in good depth. Attendance isn't mandatory but there are reaction papers that are randomly due at the end of class. Majority of the tests are from the readings in the textbook so I would 100% read it. Overall, she's a pretty good professor.
If you care about your grade, buy the textbook, do the extra credit, go to class, and study and you will do well in this class. The tests questions are really hard but she gives you a lot of study materials to review. She really does do her best to help you understand the material and you can tell she wants her students to do well.
Dr. Nauta was a great professor! Her lectures did tend to be a bit boring, but she did a good job of explaining the material in class. If you like Psych, I'd recommend taking this class with her. If you show up to class and take good notes, should be an easy A or B. Side note: she says textbook is required, but you can get away with not having it!
I loved having her as my PSY 110 professor. In a class of over 300 people she still knew some names and reached out to students who were both doing well/struggling. Her tests can be challenging if you don't attend class AND read the textbook. If you do the work, you will be rewarded with a good grade. You can get up to 20 points of extra credit.
She is very sweet, but only puts 4 sentences each slide then moves on without posting the slides, so make sure to show up and get notes from a friend. The exams are difficult imo. Don't buy the book, each exam only has two out of the 50 questions from the book. Just look up the information yourself when the study guide is posted.
Professor Nauta is a good professor, her lectures are great, if you take good notes, you should perform great on the 4 unit exams. No finals and lots of opportunities for extra credit, easy and clear-cut class.
This class was boring with unhelpful lectures and examples. Missing one class could result in missing one of 6 pop-quizzes which are non-makeup. Studying for tests was difficult due to limited practice test attempts and no answer feedback. and the textbook was necessary to pass. The only positive was the extra credit, but it had to be scheduled.
This class was really hardcore. With it being 300 people in the class, it was hard to get one on one help with the teacher and tutoring filled up fast with the amount of students there were. The tests are really hard and we had no real assignments besides reaction papers and exams; if you fail your exams you will fail this class.
Great professor with clear and concise lectures. You have to go to every lecture because notes aren't posted and there are pop quizzes called reaction papers. Very exam heavy class but you can do really well if you attend all lectures and READ THE BOOK and takes notes from the book. You have to read and take notes on everything.
Great lecturer, and easy to follow along. She recommends the textbook, but it is not necessary if you attend class. Her office hours are pretty accessible. Overall, great professor and great class, would recommend and take again.
Lectures are crucial to passing the class but they're clear and easy to understand, there is surprise reaction papers, textbook isn't mandatory but is referred to in lectures/exams so I recommend getting it. She does not round up grades for anyone but gives practice exams that have unlimited attempts, do extra credit, and study for the exams.
Such a sweetheart! Her lectures and reviews prepare you so well for her tests. It is so easy to get a 100 all you have to do is take notes. Pop in AirPods during class, sit back, relax and write. She offers extra credit, lets you take your final early, and would send me emails congratulating me on my test scores. LOVE THIS CLASS AND HER.
She is AMAZING! I want her to be my grandma. She is the sweetest lady and really explains the material in a way that's easy to understand. She knows the material very well and relates it back to her students. I would take every class she taught if I could.
Dr.Nauta was an amazing teacher. Her lectures were easy to follow and made sense. You don't really need to textbook but it is helpful! Once in a while she will throw a surprise reaction paper at you so attending is somewhat mandatory. The exams are doable if you put in a little bit of work and go over the notes. Definitely would take again!
Great lectures, clear concepts. Textbook is recommended but not mandatory. Exams are challenging, but extra credit opportunities help. unstuck AI proved useful for test prep.
She has been one of my favorite professors so far! Her lectures are easy to understand and the textbook readings are pretty short. She doesn't give homework and has good resources outside of class time.
Very nice and I overall enjoyed her class. Pretty easy to get a good grade as long as you study before exams.
This Professor is great! Exams were hard but if you use the study guide and take the practice tests multiple times you will do just fine! Extra credit helped my grade a lot!! Lectures were long on some days but majority of the time found ways to keep you interacting. Make sure to take notes!!!!
Great teacher, just go to class and pay attention.
I really enjoyed Dr Nauta, she is a very nice lady who is well versed in the subject and wants everyone to do great. I went to her office hours and she was very friendly and helpful. Overall I loved her, would absolutely take her class again.
I overall really enjoyed this class! This professor is a really sweet woman and is always wanting to help everybody. She also made lectures entertaining. She doesn't give out homework though so you do have to work hard and study for the exams because they are worth most of your grade. I would tell anyone who has to take this class to take her!
