Professor Roberts is an amazing teacher! I took her online 163 class, I was very hesitant at first because of all the ratings she had on here, but it was the best decision I made to take her! She is AWESOME. I failed 163 last semester and this semester I got an A. You won't regret it.
I took her online clas this semester and it was the most tedious experience. She is awful at grading in a timely manner, if you have questions she says she is easily reachable, she isn't. Just don't take her. Save your sanity. If you don't have a choice I recommend having a math background, it is pretty much self teach.
Nice lady but a horrible teacher. She is very disorganized and barely taught anything in class. If you can teach yourself math from the book, you might be OK. She does not give partial credit on exams, so if you make one small mistake it can cost you like, 20 percentage points. I would avoid taking her.
She the worst professor I have ever encountered in my academic experience difficult to work with, unclear would not suggest her to worst enemy
She is extremely unclear, and wants to teach things the way SHE wants to, not the way you learn it. Very forgetful, forgot to bring formula sheets to my test multiple times. Very hard to work with. Tests poorly structured- one small mistake can knock you to an F in a second. Lectures awful and hard to understand. Self teach all the way.
Mrs. Roberts tests were nothing like any hw assignments. I am taking the online course and it was worst mistake. I have had many problems with this online course and have tried numerous times to reach out to her as well as fellow class mates and she has yet to respond to any. She assigns a ton of homework and the tests are EXTREMELY difficult.
Must pass 23 exams, doesn't give results of 1st back before withdrawal date. DON'T TAKE if expecting to be able to contact a prof at all, literally doesn't respond to any form of communication, unless you ask her something she wants tofeels like answering (hint: nothing). SELF TAUGHT. Don't buy book, buy access code - free online book.
Helpful and engaged. Communicate clearly. You have to do the work but she will work with you.
I love Ms Roberts a lot. She isn't the best teacher but that's just because she is disorganized. She is a lovely person and is very helpful to students. Her class is not structured so if you like a lot of structure its not for you. That being said it is an easy A or B. Two of my tests this semester have been online which is unheard of for math.
Prof Roberts was extremely helpful. I would sent an email and she was very good at responding quickly. Hwquiz assignments had due dates but she always extended them so you could do better. The midterm and final are paper, they are difficult because they are formatted differently compared to online hw and quizzes - STUDY!
Professor Roberts is helpful and kind. She explains the material in depth and is always willing to stay after for additional assistance. Take her if you struggle with Math, she will help you understand and pass the course.
A very nice lady, but extremely unclear about what she wants. She gives a lot of assignments, which arent hard, but she doesnt tell you which ones she wants, and when. Theres a disconnect between the online hw and the exams, but two of the exams were online so those were fine. We totally didnt use the textbook. I hope I learned enough math for 174
Decent class, and not hard at all to get an A.
If you are bad at math and taking an online class, take this professor! A month later and she is still taking assignments! Class is though but it's the same format regardless of instructor. Call her if you feel you're going to fail, she will help you! She prefers call over e-mail.
Roberts is good. she seems to answer emails on weekdays. she always gave me more time on projects/exams. If you wanna do well though and your in an online class, do the STUDY PLAN. I got a D on the 1st exam NOT using the study plan, then i used the study plans and got a B in the course and ive always been bad at math.
Mrs. Roberts is a nice lady but is pretty forgetful about a lot of things. It is difficult trying to understand what she says so a lot of people skip. I somehow finessed an A after not doing any of the online homework. Two projects that are basically finding definitions of math words. 4 tests drops lowest one. Didn't do much and got an A+
mrs Roberts is a great professor but gives plenty of homework
One of the most disorganized professor at nova. Her lecture are extremely unorganized and all over the placed. I had to go online to look at YouTube video to self teach myself the material. Surprisingly. YouTube video is the only reason that I passed the class. Though she is a nice professor, but she really need to start improving.
Avoid this professor at all cost. Look at the other reviews and I bet everyone one of them mention that she is disorganized and isn't specific in what she want. Though her class is an easy A, despite that she shouldn't even be qualified to be teaching anything. He lecture are all over the place, as for homework, the due date are never clear.
Why is she even qualified to teach this course. Her lecture maybe easy to follow, her test are pretty easy. The only problem is she is extremely disorganized, she never knows what she wants her student to turn in. She always expect us to understand her direction, and yell at us if we ask for clarification. take Michelle perschbatcher instead.
Took her online class, big mistake.. while the homework was easy enough, the test was impossible. More than half of the questions were never covered by the online homework and quizzes so it was completely foreign.. sent multiple emails asking for help, i got 1 automatic message and then was ignored for over a week and ultimately dropped the class..
Mrs. Roberts is a very nice women however when it comes to teaching she is extremely disorganized and very unclear. Nobody knows what exactly yo turn in and she yells at you if you do not understand her. She almost always seems confused. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS if you picked your classes late just wait for another opportunity to select a professor
By far the worst math professor ever. I have a 4.0 GPA and I'm still struggling. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE HER.
Very very disorganized. Changed HW assignments alot and was unclear on what was assigned. Taught myself much of the time. Do MyMathLab its a big part of your grade
She literally yelled at me when i asked her what the homework was. She will take thirty minutes just to start class and that does not include the time she is late which is normally about 13 minutes. i counted. DO NOT TAKE HER.
There is webassingn to do which i didnt mind. She makes half of the overall grade on the class the exams. I did every single quiz and homework from webassign and I had complete understanding of the topic that I got an overall A on it. In the test its 10X harder than any homework or quiz question. Not worth it i wish i dropped sooner.
I would not recommend this class for anyone. She gives ridiculous exam projects for every exam. Does not respond to emails promptly. Math online should not be this hard, especially if you have a lot of background on subject. The test are harder than hw and quizzes. If you fail the tests, you are screwed.
THIS CLASS IS HORRIBLE! The prof NEVER replies to emails. The first email took her a week to reply to. The next several emails I never heard back, so I gave up trying. BEWARE, tests are significantly harder even though she says it will be like the homework/quizzes. Projects are ridiculous and take HOURS, leaving less study time for the test.
Tough but fair. HW was a MUST DO. Extra Credit allowed me to pass but it also retaught many things i missed. This was an online Math class. Exams are paper, they are tough. Effort is an absolute must for those not into Math.
She's hilarious! but very unorganized!!! she does not specify deadlines or grading criteria! Mymathlab is the only tool she uses for hw, quizzes, and tests!! only final test is in class! In class lectures are boring, she treats you like you are a middle-schooler! She writes down on the board every single word she says!
She's very unorganized. U learn nothing from her. U need to study hard by yourself otherwise u will fail. Late grading.
Her blackboard announcements and the way she writes is really weird. The assignments also don't make sense. She doesn't respond to emails. She also hasn't graded anything since the class started.
I would blame the design of the program, but she doesn't respond to emails. For an online class, responding to a students email is essential. Im not scared of work, but the amount is horrible & unorganized. I'm taking the class over with another professor that is strict & direct, but the homework makes sense. I also found her comments offensive.
The system used for this class is for extremely lazy teachers who do not wish to actually write up the class. She is impossible to get a hold of. Might as well not even have a professor assigned to the class. Her announcements are asinine and childish. I recommend she departs the education system and everyone to avoid her classes.
Professor Roberts is very disorganized & doesn't seem to understand what she's doing half the time, so if you're not good at math & don't understand math very well I would not recommend taking her class. She's moves quickly through notes & through lectures making it hard to listen. You'll end up having to teach yourself everything in this course.
I took her in my 1st sem. in NOVA. loved her gives 4 tests 1 take home, lets you take it later and calculator allowed. if you get an A in the final, your whole course grade will be an A, accepts late work. only bad thing is she is childish and not good with tech so don't email her, talk to her in person. all HW on MML due last day of the semester
Disorganized and childish. She spent half of the class time looking for papers. The lecture was boring. I always felt so sleepy. She does not give your exam back but you see your result on BB when the class is over. I will not take this prof again.
I honestly think if you get her as a teacher, you should switch out. She tends to be late to class often, her lectures are very disorganized, and a month into school, she still had no online slot for us to submit homework, then demanded it all at once. Overall, she is a sweet person, but definitely not worth the money spent at all.
Unorganized and unclear. Shes a sweet person but her lectures are trash. It was her first year using this online system Aleks and is completely reliant on the system to teach us. You will end up spending hours on Aleks, to pretty much teach yourself precalc.
I think Prof. Roberts is one of the nicest teachers I could have gotten for my first semester at NOVA. However, she's incredibly unorganized, doesn't understand the systems she's using, gets frustrated when we don't understand either, and gives horrible lectures. Her lectures are basically just her reading and writing the textbook word for word.
-Disorganized -Makes the class similar to an online course that you still have to attend in person -Content is easy to learn but you have to teach yourself -Funny -Fair to students when situations arise -Must work for your grade -If you fail tests you won't pass Final is 1 weekaway and what's due: Chapter 5+11 Test Final Review Packet(24pgs)
While she is unorganized at points, she is very caring and will do what she can to help you succeed. I ended up passing precalc with a B, and I am by no means good at math.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS, NOT AN EASY A. SHE HAS NO STRUCTURE AND HAS NO CLUE WHAT SHE IS DOING
Yeah, she is very nice but don't get me wrong, this class was out of place! she has no idea what she is doing in class and is unorganized. Class started with about 20+ people, only about 8 people are left in class. She copy and paste whatever the notebook says and expects you to learn that way. NO teaching on how to solve problems whatsoever.
She is very caring, you need to work for your grade since there's a lot of homework but she is very sweet just make sure to do all your work and you'll be fine
We used mymathlab (MML) for our homework. There is a lot of homework. Her teaching is agonizingly slow and mostly irrelevant. You will have to teach yourself through MML to do well in this class. She let us do homework in class if you bring your laptop.
She is a very nice and funny professor. I took her for MTH161 as well. If you are good at math, I recommend you to take her because her lectures are not so good. She copies directly what is on her textbook to her notes.
Professor Roberts was an amazing professor! Very caring and helpful. She was willing to help students one on one with any question they had on MML. Would highly recommend.
This class was so unorganized. I taught myself the whole semester through MyLabMath videos. Mrs. Roberts is a nice person, but don't take her class if you actually want to learn the material. The layout of the tests are confusing and hard to follow, and there is so much online homework.
She cares. If I had questions or didn't understand anything, I just went to her office hours and she explained things to me. But it got harder when we changed to remote classes because of COVID-19. She doesn't know how to use technology. She often asked us to help her to do things on canvas and mml during classes. You will have to teach yourself.
There is a test for every chapter and homework on mml. You will have to teach yourself many things. She is not the most organized person, but she tries her best. She is no good with technology, so don't take her remotely. She is a nice person and really brightens up your day, but she is not the best teacher and talks really fast.
Mrs. Roberts is very sweet. She cares about her students and wants them to do well in the class. It was hard for me to get a hold of her with emails once we had to go online, but thats because technology isnt her strong suit. You will either love her class or dislike it. Do the homework, show up, and participate. You will pass if you do those!
MML makes up a large portion of the course. When it comes to inclass notes it is only surfact level. However, there are 6 sections one needs to prepare for on the test, but she only tests you on the first two sections I understand we also had to deal with COVID but we spent one week before an exam just trying to explain to her how to post on canvas
Prof Roberts really cares about her students but she does not know how to teach. The only reason I got a good grade is bc I took pre calc in hs. MML adds a lot of busy work and she copies right from the textbook. She tries but if you need a teacher to have organized notes and is able to answer questions and reply to emails she is just not it.
Professor Roberts gets off topic very easily. She is funny and nice, but disorganized. I took her for the spring semester and it was really hard following through because she did everything on MML. She gave ALOT of homework and videos to watch.
Not a lot to say about Mrs. Roberts other than she was very nice and funny. Good luck getting her to reply to your emails as she isnt much educated in technology. Very unorganized and doesnt really teach the material at all. I managed to carry a D all the way until the end when she miraculousy passed me with a B+. Awful Professor
Very disorganized. Took about 6 days to respond to my emails. Homework and tests are on Pearson. She plays pre-made Pearson videos for her lectures, so you need to teach yourself. Her grading system is problematic and confusing. Only reason I got an A is because my anxiety of getting a B. Can come off condescending at times. Shes nice though.
She was the worst professor I have had . She makes things easy in the middle of class but after that she gives you very hard time . She is crazy in her talking . Never recommended. She give me F because we had a group chat for class .
Unorganized, Lost, Terrible communication skills, worst teacher ever, select a different teacher!!!!
This professor is the worse. I NEVER met someone so unorganized and she lacks of communication. She never checks her email and does not know how to use CANVAS. She assigned a ton of homework the first day but I did not hear about half of the assignments until we met the second day. She goes way too fast and she expects us to read her mind.
If you have ANY chance to switch teachers do so now. By far the worst teacher Ive ever had in my entire schooling career. She doesnt even name the assignments that are due and is clueless on what she is talking about. She also does not know how to use canvas or anything on her computer matter of fact. Save ur self and dont ever take this class
Poor lady has been put on an online setting when she has very little idea
Pretty sure a rat would teach better than she can.
This is my last semester in NOVA, yet I have never had such a horrible learning experience . Never had a professor as unprepared as Mrs. Roberts - she is a shame to our wonderful community college. I have lost a year of my life to stress from her inability to use technology, unwillingness to answer emails, and her distasteful attitude vs. learning.
She is horrible. She has no idea what she is doing she is so rude and disrespectful to her students. she is aggressive and gives an attitude and is very sassy. After leaving her class you will always have a bad taste in your mouth. Please do your self a favor and drop her class
Every time I go to her zoom meetings, she is so sassy and aggressive. I have never felt more dumb in this class and she makes everything so complicated. Pretty sure I can learn better from a duck,
Don't take her class I'm begging you, she doesn't even teach you herself at all, she will make you do MULTIPLE ASSIGNMENTS, for 1 chapter, She is very sassy and annoying. She doesn't know how to teach students through online AT ALL!!
She will do Precalc questions on Zoom and want everyone to respond, and if you don't she calls out your name for a response. This is her way of taking attendance. She is new to technology and struggles. There is a LOT of homework. My friends aren't getting nearly as much homework as I receive. She doesn't really teach. She makes us watch videos.
I cant express how bad this class is. She doesnt even teach she just plays videos of other people teaching and when someone has a question she just tells you to try and look it up on Kahn Academy. My final is next week and I still havent seen her do one Math problem and explain it herself. So much homework and half of it doesnt even count 4 a grade
Ms. Roberts is terrible at responding to emails, I was supposed to take my exam in the fall 2020 but still have not received it and the dean has been involved. its been 2 months and its now spring semester 2021. She also makes you write down every single thing you learn and turn it in or else you get no credit (for tests too).
Professor Roberts is a terrible teacher, she barely explains anything during the lectures and all she does is play random videos about math and expects you to learn everything on your own. Worst experience at NOVA, regardless of how well you do in the class, if you fail the final exam you won't pass the class. PLEASE DON'T TAKE HER.
Professor Roberts was a good choice this semester, she really cares about the success of the students and wants them to do well. Good professor overall.
Listen, Mrs. Roberts is an older teacher, she isn't too tech savvy. So as a result, expectations in general aren't going to be in depth. You're on your own. The saving grace of this class and the sole reason I got an A, is MyMathLab. The hmw is a copy of the tests, do them you have a copy of the test. Find a good teacher on youtube, do the hmw, A.
Prof. Roberts really cares about her students. I took her pre calc class over zoom and I would never recommend it. Unfortunately she doesn't know how any of the tech works. I remember teaching the class and her on how to use Math Lab. Grades were a nightmare, we had to fill out a confusing spreadsheet to put in our own grades. Never answered emails
It's clear to me that Mrs. Roberts has trouble navigating Canvas and Zoom. I should've dropped her class ASAP the second I noticed this. She has students sign into Zoom despite teaching an in-person course and doesn't have the online homework connected to the grade book, instead, students have to fill out a spreadsheet to be graded.
DO NOT take this class, she is an older lady and clearly has not adapted to modern learning. She takes forever just to load up zoom or do anything tech-related. She doesn't have anything filled out in canvas, takes 2-3 WHOLE days to respond to a simple email. She can be aggressive towards students and she lacks any understanding of student issues.
I really do like this professor as a person, she is patient. However, I have had to teach myself this entire course. I will be more confused listening to her teaching than figuring it out for myself. I really do wish I would've been able to switch when she took 3 whole classes to explain the syllabus. she cannot get to the point in any lecture
Incredibly frustrated with this class. Professor Roberts has no clue at all how to use technology. Her lessons are just reading word for word the power points that she gives us. Expect ultra strict grading on tests. She took off points because I wrote 10 instead of 10.0 on a question when the decimals were not necessary. Horrible professor.
I like this prof. as a person but her class sometimes doesn't make sense to me. Her lectures are her reading of a piece of paper, which is our online notes, and writes it on the board. It's more confusing listening to her lectures than teaching myself the material. Her tests are a printed version of our homework & she is no near tech savvy.
In this class you have to teach yourself. She spends the first 20 minutes just trying to set up zoom and rushes everything. She doesn't even sound confident in her own lectures. If you want to learn anything about precalc do not take her!
I've had one of the worst studying experience with her. She has no clue what she's doing most of the time. Every class is a text book word by word and she can't even do it properly. Sometimes she butchers the example and teach wrong material. Students have to even correct her. Not to mention her tech side, semester ends and none of the score is up.
Professor Roberts is very nice. Unfortunately, thats all there is to her. Shes VERY unclear w/ her her grading system, doesnt go by her syllabus or due dates, & just reads off the ppts provided by course. Doesnt go over anything & expects for you to know. & if you ask questions, shes very sarcastic & comes off rude by talking slower & louder.
Avoid this professor for the sake of your GPA, time, money and sanity. She spent a full day and half going over the syllabus. She would teach the basic things most students already know while skipping all the material that is new to them. She made us login to Zoom to go over the lectures, even though it was an in-person class.
She is not teaching well and only writes from slide to board with no example.
I had to teach myself in this class and I am NOT good at math. I spent most of my time with the 24/7 tutoring service because she doesn't teach. Any questions you ask her will either leave you more confused or she will not answer it, despite talking. Exams are based off of the prompts, so memorize those and you should do well. She is nice though.
She is fair for students who work hard and complete homework she assigned. pick her class, you will work yourself 90%.Lecture are Pearsons slides. She is traditional teacher with white board and noted during class. flexible with deadlines. She is a passion & kind teacher, she will care & respect when you show your dedication and effort in class.
Professor Roberts is a very sweet lady with high energy and a positive demeanor. Every question asked she answers incoherently. The entire semester, we copied her notes she handwrote on a projector. No practical application of any lesson. forbade calculators less than a week before the midterm because 2 problems were meant to be done without them.
Worst math I have ever met. Doesn't teach anything in class but copies from a power point without even explaining anything. You have to grade your own work and then make a spreadsheet in Excel and submit it. Doesn't teach anything. Doesn't have a clear plan for the class and is a mess. Never take this teacher if you want to learn anything.
We have to do our own grading and submit it via an excel sheet. She spends more time talking about how she runs her class than actually teaching. She spent over an hour and a half one day before our midterm going over how to grade ourselves and work her excel sheet and spent only around 30 mins reviewing for the test. Save the trouble and don'ttake
This professor is awful. For our lectures she took some other professors power point and rather than project the power point she wrote down the slides ver batum which takes at least 10 minutes per class. She explains things poorly, does not know how to properly use her equipment, and never answers the questions you ask answering in a roundabout way
Avoid taking this class if you want to learn. Professor Roberts struggles to teach effectively, often relying on videos and handwritten notes rather than clear explanations. However, unstuck AI can be a helpful study tool.
Worst math class I have ever taken. You Literally have to grade your own work for some reason which is horrible, us college students already barely have time. I didn't learn a single thing this semester. Save yourself don't take this class.
This teacher is the worst teacher I have ever met in my life. Her explanations are never clear. You can't even understand what homework she gives. She makes even the easiest topics seem extremely difficult. She deducts points for everything, assigns a lot of homework. If you don't have time to study on your own, never take this class, waste of money.
This was the worst class I have ever taken. Every time you ask a question you are left more confused with her answer. There is a lot of homework but she does not make it clear where to find it and what to exactly is for a grade. She is clearly not savvy. Don't taken this class.
She is a fair professor for students who work hard and complete the homework she assigns. Lectures are based on Pearson slides, and she teaches in a traditional way using the whiteboard and writing notes during class. She's flexible with deadlines. Also, if you complete all the Pearson assignments and study for the exams, you do not to worry a bout
Prof Roberts is a cute and silly lady, but this class was definitely rough I do not recommend you take this teacher for it. This class literally inspired me to quit school (i came back dw). Homework had no correlation to in-class lesson whatsoever. Quizes/Tests were hard, she allowed a lil notes sheet, but you had to teach yourself a lot.
This professor seems super nice and all but for academic teaching and helpfulness, probably not the best. I could not understand her lectures at all and honestly with how confused I was on how to deal with the class, I was absent here and there. Personality-wise, she seemed really friendly, but you may want to find a more serious math course.
She's a very nice professor. I'm currently in her class and she tends to repeat a lot of her notes like we went over the same thing for 3 classes in a row, and she's also very bad at explaining things, she just writes it down, we copy it, and just doesn't explain it well.
Would not recommend! She is very nice. Don't get me wrong. However, her teaching methods are not effective at all, and it just feels like I have learned nothing from her lectures. She repeats her notes a lot and isn't a good teacher!
Never take this class again.
