Sweet teacher, very bubbly. Tests were hard, but gave tons and tons of extra credit. I reccommend her if you are willing to do work for her class. But, she is very easy to get along with, and has a very open, optimistic personality!
Great personality... Tests were hard as crap! I usually make A's and I ended up with a B.... I worked my butt off too! She scares the crap out of you when she talks about grading the papers... But she doesn't grade them that hard. Be prepared to work you butt off to get a good grade!
She is an awesome teacher! She has a great personality and makes class interesting. She gives a study guide for the tests, just make sure you do the extra reading she gives!!! Also, she gives plenty of opportunities for extra credit. As long as you pay attention and do study guides, you will do fine. I definitely recommend her!
Great teacher. She is very cool and good at what she does. I recommend reading each chapter in depth and you will do fine.
She is a great teacher!! She is always willing to help if you need it!
Dr. Williamson is AMAZING. I highly recommend her. Extrememly friendly, ALWAYS willing to help and her lectures are so structered and easy to follow. I wish ALL my professors were like her.
Great teacher!! I highly recommend any of her classes. She explains EVERYTHING in detail, loves to talk, she's really a morning person! Tests were simple if you study the lecture notes and do fill in the blank section of test first (mostly vocab words). Only hard part of class was the community svc hours (25) and writing the paper about it.
She's a nice lady. Her lectures are good. She goes over material very well, but her tests are ridiculous. They go through every tiny nook and cranny. Only a bit of the test is spent on the main points. All of the rest of it is just minor, insignificant material.
Love her! Sweetest, bubbliest person in the world! Always has a smile on her face. I never bought the book and still made an A, but reading is really helpful. Grades very leniently on papers and projects. Tests are comprehensive, but not hard if you pay attention in class. Offers more extra credit than any teacher I've ever had. Take her class!!!
LOVE HER!!!!! I wish everyone had her enthusiasm, and love for what they do! Her passion is contagious! She's quite possibly the sweetest person you'll ever meet, and so helpful. She's a neat, neat lady.
had a pretty early class but LOVE HER!! Always started my days on MWF off awesome! Super sweet and bubbly. Her test and pretty much straight from the study guides and extra credit saved my life. Attendance is key though!! I would highly recommend her classes
She is a GREAT teacher! Gives study guides and test are just like the notes so if you take good notes you will get an A! Very helpful and OFFERS EXTRA CREDIT. Attendance is REALLY important to her and will effect your final grade! EASY A OR B!
On-line course-worked my butt off and only got a B.Very enthusiastic teacher (her video lectures were excellent)but it does not come through on the on-line class. Challenged by the quizzes as some of the questions were very obscure and she picked very odd ones to ask. Grading rubrics not clear for papers, little feedback and very late grading.
Wow this was an interesting class. but it was hard...the tests were at least. Don't take this class unless you are a good note taker and a great test taker for everything she says or writes may be on the test!
I loved this class at the beginning of the semester. It was all very interesting and she kept it upbeat. Then the attendance record grade started. She brings down your grade just for coming in one or two minutes late. No joke. And her tests were pretty difficult. I worked my butt off and only got a C.
Dr. Williamson is awful. Do not take her online class. She'll go days without logging into the class or responding to emails. Her grades are completely arbitrary and based more on how she feels that week than on the quality of work. She gives 2 group projects and grades way too hard. Nothing positive about her.
very nice and enthusiastic but her tests are extremely hard, only because you must memerize ALL of the facts from every chapter
Very difficult teacher. I studied for days and made a C on the test, my first C in college. She takes points from your final grade for missing class, and even for showing up late. Group assignments are insanely hard (only one group passed in my class)and she offers almost no input when she grades the papers. I was forced to drop to save my GPA.
I really love sociology, but Dr. Williamson made me mad on a daily basis. I am usually a straight A student and I could never get A's on her test. I would not recommend her class at all. She is definitely the most annoying teacher I have ever had...ever. By the end of the semester I dreaded going to her class.
VERY tough on grading. Quizzes were extremely difficult. I always ran out of time because there were so many questions in just a small amount of time. I would not recommend her online course at all.
great teacher! made class fun everyday. explained the topic of discussion very clearly. Tells good stories from time to time:) gives extra credit! tests are very hard to get an A on.. studied like crazy and made Cs on the tests.. i guess its just the way she words things on the tests..
Very hard class! You have to study ALOT! She offers extra credit that is added to your final grade! She is really nice, happy, and funny. She helps in any way she can!
Best professor I've had thus far at Gainesville. Her lectures are clear and easy to understand. She uses tons of examples. Her tests are hard and YOU HAVE TO STUDY for them. She will add points to your final grade for attending co curricular activities. Loved her and her energy! I would recommend to anyone!
Great professor! Her tests aren't hard just very thorough. If you make flash cards from notes and book and look over in plenty of time ahead you will do fine. Just come to class everyday, do what she assigns exaclty how she assigns it and study you do good in her class. She is very personable and helpful! Also take advantage of extra credit opport.
She is such an amazing teacher! She truly has everyone's best interest at heart and will do anything to help you. However, if you're not a good test taker, I wouldn't suggest the class. We only had 3 tests and a paper. No homework or quizzes, which makes it hard to maintain a high grade.
DO NOT TAKE HER. She is a very sweet lady but it is very hard to read her hand writing. Her tests are extremely hard. You must read the book everyday to make a good grade.
She is probably the nicest teacher on campus- very bubbly and involved. However, there is lots of outside reading involved and the hardest tests that I've ever taken. Good luck.
Difficult tests, only one paper that was graded out of 24 possible points, miss one point per section and you're at a 75 for that. Would not recommend even though she is very nice.
Dr. Williamson is by far my favorite teacher I've ever had. I took her once and took her again. She is energetic, funny and friendly. She gives extra credit opportunities that are added to your final grade. gives study guides and the paper you write she allow you a chance to make corrections and resubmit. Allows four absences without any penalty.
Dr. Williamson is a GREAT teacher! She makes class really enjoyable & interesting, no matter the subject. She gives many extra credit opportunities that are added to your final grade, only has you write one paper, and gives you a study guide before each test. To do well on the tests, you need to memorize A LOT but by far this was my favorite class!
Professor Williamson is amazing! She gives great extra credit that saved my semester! She is so happy and funny all the time which makes the class fun! Would absolutely take again!
Horrible class. The test are so difficult and no one ever passes. I wouldn't suggest anyone take this class. The tests are so difficult and require so much reading. I could be put into a random calculus class and do better on the tests than her class. She really wants her class to be a priority. I made 5 A's and a D this semester. The D was her.
I never thought Sociology was hard, even my adviser told me that I should take this because it is an easy A - she we wrong. The class is actually very enjoyable when you're in there. She gives great lectures and even amazing extra credit options. But, the tests are HARD. Her tests are not from her lectures. Just the book. She grades VERY harshly.
She's funny and pleasant in class. However, she is very hard on attendance whether you show up 30 seconds late or a minute late, which doesn't make sense bc she is late almost every single day. Her tests require a lot of studying and can be very stressful, but her class is interesting and she's a good lecturer imo. Strict about grades.
Her exams are EXTREMELY difficult - there are so many terms to study, over 100 each time. Even if you study and know it all, there will still be something you get confused on. She grades everything very harshly, this entire course was not done fairly. She comes across nice as a person but as a professor, she is your worst nightmare. Do not take.
One positive I can say is that she gives you a word list for each exam, but its at least 150 words each time. You better get ready to have nothing else to study for. Her exams are crazy difficult. She is very unfair, the course is interesting but the exams make it not worth it. Never have I had an issue with a professor until her. Don't take her.
Okay so I took her my first semester of college. She's a really smart women, tells funny stories, and goes through the chapters very thoroughly during lectures, and she makes the lectures VERY interesting. I personally LOVED this class. However, the exams are really tough. I learned how to study and it made me feel prepared for other tough classes
If you have already met your 5 class miss limit DO NOT MISS ANY MORE. I can actually stand her lectures, she makes them interesting and she is very high spirited. She is a tough grader but if you pay at least minimal attention you should be fine. Reading your book before tests is mandatory. Overall, I did enjoy her class and I would recommend her.
Dr. Williamson is such a sweet lady! She is so funny, and she really cares about her students. Though the class is somewhat challenging, she gives you all the materials you need to succeed. If you actually put in the work, you will learn a lot and do fine. Take her!
TAKE HER! Mrs. Williamson always made the lectures enjoyable and entertaining. Although attendance is mandatory, the material we discussed was always interesting. There are 3 exams and the final is cumulative. Such a sweet lady!
She is great! almost everyday is a lecture and there was no group work all semester, but she is a great lecturer. she is funny and actually has real life personal experience with sociology outside of a classroom. She is available and can be lenient with grading. the tests are extremely thorough and typically cover every term on the study guide.
Loved her, although I didn't make the grade I wanted to. Would definitely take her again. She is hilarious and very caring and made class enjoyable, even at 8:00am
Very caring professor, and makes class very interesting. We had weekly notes due, and one big paper. The study guides are huge and the tests are very hard!!! So much information, but a great teacher.
WONDERFUL. Hard tests, even if you enjoy the material (mult choice/short answer/fill in the blank). Three tests, one final, one paper. Weekly notes as homework. She offers multiple extra credit opportunities, but they're all on campus after class. Wish there would've been a take home assignment for students with a heavy work load as well as school.
Wonderful professor. She's very caring and helpful and is very invested in sociology. Her tests are pretty difficult because they go over about three chapters each, so make sure to study up on the terms. She offers plenty of extra credit, so if you aren't doing well on tests you can pull up your grade. If you put in the effort you will get an A.
She is a wonderful person. She tells us all stories of her past that goes along with the lectures. She gives wondeful lectures as well. However, as a teacher, she is way too strict. The tests are heavy with material and the study guides are way too long and term heavy. The final is over every chapter, so get ready to study more for her class.
Shes a great person but not a good teacher. She makes her class way too difficult for an intro class. The semester papers directions were vague and supposed to be 10 pages long when she didnt say so nor was it on the rubric. Dont take her class. Its not worth the stress, especially for the term heavy tests, which take so much of your time.
In order to make at least a high B on a test, it is imperative that you start studying a week before the test, if not sooner. 95% of everything you are tested on comes out of the book. Attendance is 10% of your grade. Her humor makes attending class feel like less of a waste of time.
she's literally the best! she lectures the whole class period but her lectures are very interactive and funny. she is so nice and really cares about you. the best professor I've had by far!
Dr. Williamson is one of the most interesting people I have ever met, and she is just a great person. She is very clear on what she wants and no excuses fly with her. There are a good bit of extra credit opportunities. A lot of her reviews say that her test are extremely hard which is not 100% true. Her tests are extremely thorough. She is great!
tests are composed of mult choice (30-40), f.i.b (10-20) & short answer (3-4) all in a 50min class 97% the entire class is still taking the test by the time she gives us the 10min warning - not exaggerating. She teaches very well & writes all the notes on the board. You literally have to read every chpt in the book & vocab to pass the tests
My favorite class ever. Williamson is amazing and is so educated on what she's teaching. Her exams are difficult but her study guides give you everything you need to know to get an A. Attend class, take notes, study, and it'll be easy. Her lectures are so informative and often times fun, I HIGHLY recommend this class! She's seriously the best.
She is very fun and keeps her students engaged. Be ready to spend quite a bit of time on this class and other outside assignments. I would recommend. You could easily pass if you study the study guides and stay on track with all assignments.
She is a great person. Big problem is her tests she has around 65 questions including paragraphs all in 50 min, I didnt pass a single test in her class, (highest 69 with curve) DO NOT take this class if you are a first coming freshmen you will regret it, i was warned but i didnt listen. The final is made of the most missed questions on every exam
Dont to take her
Dr. Williamson is a wonderful person who is super nice and really funny. Everything about her class is great except that her tests are ridiculously hard, they are focused on memorizing tiny details rather than actually understanding the ideas. Also the way she grades papers is honestly shameful, way way too difficult.
Dr. Williams is an amazing professor. Shes super nice and leaves really good feedback on all discussions and papers. Would recommend an E-book version to use for quizzes (all open book open note).
very nice
Such a sweet lady. Def take her!! The tests were semi hard but she really wants to see her students succeed and gives lots of extra credit! If you try in this class You will make an A. Her lectures are so funny and I really learned the info. Her classroom enviroment was calm and that made it easy for me to learn. She really trys to be helpful.
The BEST! There are weekly notes straight from the textbook which help you study for your test. If you dont read the book, the test is going to seem super hard. She gives so much extra credit and is so sweet! Highly recommend this professor to everyone!
DO NOT RECOMMEND TAKING HER! DO NOT DO IT
I am currently taking her SOCI 1101. She is a nice person, however, as a professor, she is extremely strict with grading and you have a huge paper at the end of the semester that you will fail if you do not write more than at least 7 pages. My rough draft was around 8 pages and she said it was a "good start".
Worst teacher Ive ever had!! Shes rude and doesnt help at all, so dont expect to get help at any point. Messed up my grade by not entering something in we had discussed back in February. Dont take!!!
Mrs. Williamson was always so kind and I loved listening to her lectures! Her expectations were unclear at first regarding homework but once you get in the rythym of things the class is a breeze. She answered emails quickly and was more than willing to help you get an A, as long as you put the work in as well.
She is so strict about attendance if you are even a minute late for two days that is an absence which she gives you 3 absences before taking 10% out of 10 points for ever absence after that her papers are vague and she doesnt give enough feedback on them to know what is wanted for the final paper due in her class would not take her class again.
Dr. Williamson is awesome! Her lectures are funny and interesting. If you do the weekly notes, show up to class, and are attentive to the lectures you will get an A. Gives extra credit opportunities as well. The one downside is the multicultural essay which has to be 10 pages, however, you have all semester to do it so it is manageable.
She is a pretty good professor but her tests are pretty difficult. She will harp on tiny things that she says once in one lecture or one tiny definition in the book. She gives good extra credit opportunities though. Up to 7 this past semester (Spring 22). Overall decent but I would not take again.
Gives terrible feedback on the last essay you do. Essay has to be 10 pages long spent weeks writing it just to get a 48 terrible grader. DO NOT TAKE
Just overall not a good teacher. With a 10 page paper due at the end of the semester where the feedback is minimal at best. Do not take her.
Literally the worst grader ever, gave me a 50 on my final essay that dropped me from a B to a D and the only feedback she gave was grammar issues. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU WANT TO PASS
I really enjoyed taking this class. Her lectures were very engaging, and we had plenty of resources to excel in her class. She offers many extra credit opportunities, easy grades (like textbook notes), and as long as you study her tests are very straight forward. There is a MINIMUM 10 page paper for the final, and it is important to put effort in.
Great professor! She gave interesting yet educational lectures. If you show up and try you will do great! Her exams are thorough, but there should be no problem if you listen and study there should be no problem.
Loved her lectures a lot, but her class is not easy. She's animated and funny, and she made the class very interesting. I definitely recommend her to others, but not if you want an easy A
Absolutely loved Professor Williamson! She has a great attitude about her job and is kind enough to provide extra credit opportunities. Her lectures are very interesting and useful to her exams. Her final is more thorough but she gives you plenty of time to not only complete it but allow her to review it and receive feedback. Fall 2022.
DROP THIS CLASS. By far the most inflexible and condescending professor I've ever had. While she seems nice and does give good lectures and cares about the material, she grades things with absolutely ZERO MERCY. Weekly handwritten notes, a 10 page final paper, impossible tests, and ABSOLUTELY NO LATE WORK WITH NO EXCEPTIONS. Even a C was a struggle
Professor Williamson gives good lectures and cares about the content but is one of the worst graders I have ever had. Her tests are near impossible and she expects a dissertation length final essay. The tests are memorization of details in the textbook that have no importance to the actual concepts. FIND A DIFFERENT PROFESSOR.
She is definitely a nice lady but if you do not care about sociology and you care about your grades DO NOT TAKE HER. She offers a good amount of extra credit but her tests are impossible and the final paper is one of the worst assignments I have ever had. I spent hours and hours studying for each one just to fail them all.
70$ textbook, probably 2 hours a week for a vocab assignment, and tests are unexplainably difficult. Lectures go by quickly, and she's very personable, but expect a no mercy policy for mistakes. She'd be a cool grandparent, but her expectations for students seem slightly misguided. You could spend hours on something, and one minute late is a 0.
She is an extremely hard grader if you turn in your weekly notes and one thing is missing you will get a 0. Her test are probably some of the hardest test I've ever taken. She's a really nice lady but she just has no flexibility in grading and she expects you to do a ton of work for her class. If you end up with this class drop it immediately.
I'm not even done with this class and I'm so stressed out. 10 page research paper in an entry level core class. Hours of homework for weekly notes that MUST be written on paper. Exam guides "may or may not have information on the exam". Classmates are stressed out too, overworked, can't study. Very nice lady and experienced but very unrealistic.
Professor Williamson is amazing! She's caring and what I like most about her is how straightforward she is about what she wants from you, unlike other professors that I had. However, her exam formatting is difficult but if you do the weekly notes, which is an easy weekly grade by the way, take notes in class and study them you should be okay.
lectures are easy to listen to. doesn't accept excused absences. attendance is mandatory and is part of your grade. There are 5 grace absences and after that each is a point off your grade up to 10 points. tardy is half of an absence, but you could be 5 minutes late and she counts you absent. policies set in stone, not empathetic at all
I have taken 3 courses with her & every course had the same format. Discussion due every week & 25 question quizzes due ~ every other week. Unfortunately, quizzes only show one question at a time & are timed. She also requires a final exam and a 10+ pg paper. She expects a lot from you but I enjoyed the consistency & she is a really quick grader.
She wants you to succeed and has been polite in my few interactions. However, this class was unreasonably difficult. I spent more time on her class than my other 4 combined. Quizzes are open answer/essay. Final paper and exam are 40% of class grade. Weekly "discussions" usually ended up 4-5 pages for me. Lots of reading, research and stress.
Good communicator, good lectures. Just take notes in class in her class and study them, because her tests can be challenging. Do all assignments and do them on time. 10 page essay due at the end of semester. I agree that she's a hard grader, but go to her office hours or talk to her if you have ANY confusions. Put in effort, and she'll help you.
OMG I loved this professor! She is awesome and is super personable. She made this class so interesting and easy to follow along in class. There is not that many grades, and the assignments she assigns are easy! She gives great feedback on your draft for the final paper. The tests can be tricky, but she gives you everything you need to pass!
Dr. Williamson seemed to me to not be very genuine and seemed to not show a care for me. She didn't have a bias necessarily, but she certainly did not make anything easy or fun. Her lectures weren't engaging, and i struggled to get traction in her class. Would NOT recommend her class. Don't take her class if you can help it.
The worst professor I've ever had. I am an A student and got a C in her class because of the difficulty of her test. Her tests are impossible to pass and her final project is too extensive for a 1000-level intro class. There wasn't a single sociology major in my class and we were treated like PhDs.
Professor Williamson is a good professor. She's very well spoken and knowledgeable in the field and that makes the class nice. The only strange thing is that she is adamant about no technology in class, only her computer and projector essentially are allowed.
Good professor overall. She is understanding and good at communicating w her students. Attendence is 10 percent of your grade (can miss up to 3 days of class), and she does not distinguish between excused and unexcused absences. The tests weren't that hard in my opinion, just study the vocabulary words in the book and you're good.
Positive southern woman who teaches sociology classes. However, She acts entirely fake to students-her charisma and warmness seems unnatural. She spells words completely wrong, even simple words, and it is not legible for notes. Does not respond to emails in a professional timing. Weird attendance policy. Grades unfairly for writing assingments.
