A really great teacher. I've taken my last 3 math courses with her, and would have failed them all if another prof had taught them. Her specialty is not just math, but the topic of how to teach it, so her classes are helpful, fairly clear and fun.

She's great! She explains concepts using clear English, not math-talk. I look forward to going to class, even though I was dreading taking it. Assignments are tough, but you learn the material well, and marks are scaled. I'd recommend her to anyone - especially if you fear math!

Watch out for the assignments and midterms, they're trickier than other sections. It was nice that she set up out of class review sessions before the tests but in class, she spent too much time explaining where the formulas came from when we only needed to know how to apply it.

It's a difficult Subject, but Dr. Wyeth does a fantastic job at making it understandable. The text book wasn't much help, but lectures and note made it clear. Fair Tests, no trick questions. I'm glad I had her for this class.

Took all my 2nd year math with her. She is wonderful. Does everything she can to help you succeed. AWESOME PROF!! Highly recommend her. Stat text was virtually useless, but she made up for it. She got me through Calculus. Amazing prof!

Her tests are quite hard compared to other classes. Her assignments are impossible and designed to teach the theory when you dont even need to know the theory so it messes you up. She is a good teacher she knows her stuff and she will give you help if you need it. So if you take her class its kinda whether you want to learn or want a good mark.

The midterms seemed really difficult, and she was a tough marker. Her lectures seemed good, but I don't really know if I actually took that much out of that class. She seems to force theory, and makes things more complicated then they have to be. I'm not sure if I like her or not. Very good in office hours, though.

Margaret is awesome! She definitely knows the material and has good notes. She has amazing office hours and is always willing to help. Her midterms are tough, but fair. I think she's one of the better math profs at UVic.

Straightforward coverage of the material.. seems to cover all the points of the tests so that a bit of studying takes you a long way.

She is a nice, funny lady who could keep your attention and worked through examples in an easy to follow way. My problem was that, from attending classes and seeing the examples I thought I knew the material, but her tests were 1ox harder than that and even than the assigned problems from the text. Margeret gets an A+ but calc sucks

Really good at making math understandable, moves quickly but only because there is lots to cover. Lots of funny jokes. Good times to be had in her class.

A great prof. She really breaks things down well making it easier to understand. I've never got above a C in a math class and I got A's in both of hers. Tests are harder but I makes the finals easier.

Wyeth is the best math teacher i've had. Her mid terms are difficult, but it doesnt matter. She gets you ready for the final better than any other prof i've heard of. She makes calc understandable, and is very available for office hours. Go to them, they really help.

Margaret is an amazing math prof. Her style of teaching makes Calculus understandable. She goes at a very steady pace, so there are no surprises at the end of the course. Assignments are very difficult, as are midterms. However, both prepare you very well for the final (and the course is scaled anyway). I highly recommend Wyeth.

SHE IS AMAZING!!! I love her way of teaching and she's funny and understanding. The suggested problems from the textbook come up in her exams and prepare you well for the final examination. Expect midterm questions on the final.

Dr. Wyeth is so great. Midterms are hard but really prepare you for the final. Don't give up. I went into the final exam with a 53% average and I got an A overall. Study hard because it will pay off. TAKE HER CLASS!

Great prof. Knows her stuff well, and makes it very understandable by introducing a topic, and then going over every conceivable example and teaching the nuances along the way. You leave feeling like you could write the midterm without studying. Unfortunately her midterms are brutal, but the multisection scaling helps alot. I'd recommend her.

Wyeth is an amazing teacher, one of the best that I have ever had for math. She's very clear during the lessons, and tells us in advance about some common mistakes that people make while doing questions, which is very helpful! She does a lot of examples, which always come in handy. She has a very witty sense of humor and class flies by so fast!

I thought Wyeth was excellent at explaining concepts! Her midterms are hard, but prepare you for the final while all the other sections are unprepared. Assignments are tricky but keep you on top of the material. I would definately take another course with Wyeth. I'm almost sad I am in sciences and won't be doing math anymore after this course:(

Wyeth was a great prof for Math 102. Although I didn't do very well overall, I still found her lectures interesting and she fueled my drive to succeed and at least pass the course (math is DEF not my thing). She is really approachable and I wish I could have her again. Recommended.

I found her to be a very clear, understandable teacher who gives good examples, though perhaps only covers something once, so it is very important to pay attention and attend class. She is a bit hard, but her midterms are wonderful and helpful prep for the final. And she is consistent in her teaching, which is essential in Math.

I did not like this professor at all. I do not recommend her, she is very unprofessional and does not give much leeway for her students in terms of preparation or what to even study.

Going into this class, I absolutely hated Math. Now I love it. She has an amazing understanding of the materilal. Wyeth has a dry sense of humor, is an amazing professor who will always answer your questions to the best of her ability, and always welcomes questions. My favorite prof of 1st term Uni.

Math 102 is going to be a difficult course. Unless you worked hard in high school to understand all the concepts in calc. Prof Wyeth is the department head of math at Uvic and knows what shes doing. She has lots of help available and is a very friendly person if you actually take the time to visit one of her office hours (Highly recommended!)

Fantastic! She explains everything thoroughly, and doesn't fly through the course. If you attend and do your homework, you will pass. The same cannot be said of this class when it's taught by others.

Wyeth is very helpful and willing to slow down material to make sure everyone understands. Her midterms were easy but her final was very hard. I went in with an A+ and after the final I had a B+

Math is not my forte, but Wyeth made the course more manageable. She gave lots of examples in class, but I needed to go home and practise with the textbook to fully understand. Her assignments took me hours to do some times, but they really helped. If you are willing to put in the extra work, you will be fine.

Wyeth is good as she simplifies the concepts for most students to understand Make sure you keep up with the homework though in order to do well in the course. Her midterms are a lot easier than the final though so make sure you're well prepared for the final. if you have to take the course - take it with her!

Margaret Wyeth is seriously the best prof I've ever had at Uvic. Hilarious woman who is fantastic at explaining difficult concepts. Made it easier than MA151 (which is super easy) because she doesn't overcomplicate things. You will love her forever and ever.

So thorough, seems to have unlimited time for students' questions. Incredibly deft with calculus and theoretical questions. Couldn't be better!

Even though this is a basic pre-calc math course, there is a lot of material and it does prepare you well for further calc courses. Margaret was great at explaining concepts and her notes were great for reference. Very fair midterms and finals and she pulled no surprises. Overall, she is great!

best math prof so far

This class is like any other math class. In order to do well you have to put the time in. I hadn't done math in 5 years and jumped into this course (not the best idea) but I worked hard and it paid off. She is very clear on what is expected and the midtermsfinals don't have any surprises.

Fair midterms and final, no surprises, explains most things pretty well. I took math 102 after calculus 12 in high school so it was pretty easy. Overall, she was a good professor and I'm glad I took the class with her.

Margaret is a patient teacher and is always extremely prepared for class. She moves a little quickly in lecture, but the problems that she does in class are 100% applicable to her tests and are detailed and easy to study from. She is great at answering questions but you have to ask and be specific! Midterms and Final were extremely fair.
