LOVE HER!!! She made the class so fun and exciting! If I weren't already at the University I'd take her again for another class. She's one of the best professors I've ever taken!!! :-)

Taking speech is never easy, but if you need it, take her. Very non-threatening, fun, and makes the class enjoyable. She definitely knows her subject.

She is a nice lady. I like when students are talking in front of the class and they feel they are doing bad, but with the teacher smile there is more cofident. She makes students feel good.

she's very clear and she tells you exactly what she wants out of your speech. she also doesn't get mad easily and will accept most excuses =). so yay.

I was afraid to take speech so I took it last summer thinking it might be a smallar class and it was. She cares about her students more than most professors these days. She makes you feel good and never interupts you when you give a speech she shows respect and teaches it as well. She made me feel so good.You make lots of friends in her class.

Margie Long is the sweetest old lady you will ever meet. A strong voice, lots of energy, and dedicated to helping her students in any way. There is no downside to taking this course with this teacher. I took her twice!

Anyone who says anything bad about Prof. Long didn't want to work for their grade. She has no time for slackers and students who sleep in class, skip class, or don't prepare for their speeches. She'll answer any questions, will make time for you if you need extra help and she's very caring and is very accessible.

Proffesor Long is a no nonsense type of teacher she expects you to do what she writes in the syllabus and be responsible for your assigned work. Like another rater here said no slackers if you dont want to work for your grade dont sign up 4 the class.

Best teacher I ever could have had for Speech class! She's incredibly nice and you learn a lot! Just show up to class and you will get a good grade. Practice your speeches many times, it helps a lot. I got an A here and I learned a lot. I would take this class even if it wasn't a requirement! Great fun class to break speaking fears and learn!

Very good teacher. You'll learn a lot from her. Kinda strict but very fair teacher. Just do your speeches and you'll be fine. I like her.

If you want to learn to give a good speech, and love to be in a structured class, this is the best class, with a wonderful devoted teacher. If you do not understand something, just ask. This is a proactive class, you are expected to participate. You will get out of this class what you put into it. It helped my speech confidence tremendously.

Highly recommend!!! She's clear about what she wants, give outline instructions and walks you thru it. She should teach math!!!

Yes, she's a great teacher but lets look at the facts...(1) Grades Hard!!(2) Miss a class??-15points..everytime.(3) She's moody and lets her emotions get in the way of teaching. (4) Bipolar!!..seriously bipolar...She's a great person with a good heart, but her teaching is questionable.

If you're good at speeches, it's easy. Somewhat fun. She's very moody. There's a couple of times she almost slapped a student, because of her moodiness.

This professor is very moody. Catch her on a good day, and you will get a good grade expect the opposite on a bad day. The text that you have to read is boring and redundant. WARNING - Never read a speech, even a manuscript. If she's looking down and you don't catch her eye, she'll nail you and your grade will fall.

Very nice, easy-going. I was dreading this class. I ended up REALLY enjoying it. She makes the class a really positive experience, focus is on what you did right then on how you could improve. She is a students biggest cheerleader and makes the class a really supportive, comfortable place. Highly recommend.

Hard class, but I learned to speak in public. I was terrified the first time I had to speak, and had fun during the last few speeches. It was worth the time and work.

she is so nice. she helps you alot, quick email reply, just do 4 speechs and 2 quizes. not hard but u need to prepare for the thespeech; otherwise you take this class for what? the topics are easy. i recommend to take her. so easy, she is funny and friendly

if you got an A in this class I would like to meet you a shake your hand. I got a B and I honestly believed I deserved the A, she grades hard, and whatever you do,stay on her good side if you're on her bad side the highest grade you'll get on her speeches in a C.

Dr. Long taught me a lot. She is fun, interesting and has a lot of passion for speech. I wasn't sure about taking speech, but Margie Long made it easy. I wish she taught speech 102, because it would be an easy A.

She will give you the tools to become a better speaker, whether it be presenting projects or just giving a wedding toast. But it's very hard to earn an "A" or a "B". I got a high "C". I was never absent or late. I did all my work.

Does not allow slacking. So you have to go for ALL lectures. Miss one day and you're kind of screwed. She can be very polite, but she can be very rude too. Depends what mood you catch her in. I loved this class! She was so kind and helpful. Don't take her class if you're lazy, you will need to work hard but it's worth it because she's a great teacher.

Way to difficult for a community college. Missing a day drops your grade down at least one grade. Puts too large of a porportion of grade on taking test from the text book, Its almost half your grade. wouldn't reccomend her. However, if you dedicate your time you will learn how to be a good speaker in her class but you might just get a bad grade.

In this class attendance is mandatory. She is a very nice teacher who enjoys teaching this course. You really end up learning a lot in her class. As long as you show up to class and do the speeches you'll pass.

She is a very incredible lady loves what she is doing. Take her. She deceplines you to be on time for class and ready to give a speech. Listen carefuly to her instructions and do as she ask other wise she will deduct points. I was a very shy person and she help me get over my fear. She is one of the best Professors at Mission College.

I did get a B in the class but I did put effort into it. So if ur looking for an easy class keep looking because this is not an easy class. Prof. Long is quirky and only likes things done her way however, she does care about her students. Extremely Conservative.

very nice professor. she is very honest but helpful. she explains everything and does not make fun of you when you ask a dumb question. I passed her class with a B and I get really nervous during public speaking.

Prof Long is very organized and detailed. She explains exactly what you need to do 4 speech preparedness, and if your confused just ask she is very helpful I passed her class with a C. apparently i am scared of talking to an audience!LOL i learned strategies to keep me focused.She is kinda picky so make sure you follow exactly what she lectures

Professor Long is REALLY hard only because she grades weird. If you miss ONE speech, she will lower your grade a lot and her test count more than the speeches although we only have 2 test and about 6 speeches? So pretty much, your grade depends on everything. I didn't like the way she taught the class.

Professor Long can be very strict upon her students' speeches. Just do the speech properly, and you'll have no troubles. She grades fairly, but be aware to study for her 2 quizzes. I passed her class with an A.

Professor Long is a good teacher, She is by the book and as long as you do what the syllabus says you will pass the class, she just wants you to succeed & if you put the work and effort in you will pass.

The key to getting a good grade in this class = do the work. Proff. Long asks you to do things a certain way, if you do it her way, you will be fine. The class requires a lot of work on your part, and if you are not willing to do it, you will fail. She is a good teacher and very nice. You just have to put in the effort.

The class itself is not too hard. All you have to do is show up and do the required work in her specific way. She is very anal about things and if you even cough in her presence she will get angry at you. Fairly elderly women who is very warm. All she asks for you to do is the work. I think it is about time for her to retire. TOO MANY CLASSES!!!

It isn't that hard to get an A in her class, if you just pretend to take the class seriously. If you do the work - which isn't that hard, and try your best at the speeches, you should get a good grade. She can definitely be infuriating & ridiculous, but she's understanding about nerves and she isn't a horrible teacher. Have patience! Borrow book.

OMG wht are these ppl talkin about? This teacher is horrible! Her lectures are so boring (videos from the 70s that dont wrk) She teaches like we are five year olds (MORE ANNOYING then helpful TRUST ME)Once u give an excuse to not like you its hell for you. If you want an easy class look somewhere else. She is strict about attendance and speech. I had to work my but off for an (A). But I love her.It is a real college class dont slack off and do the best you can. I had a great experience.

I agree with last post! She is a rude lady, everything needs to go her way and she is not fair! For a beginning Speech class, she grades hard. Majority of the class got a C, she also tests on a book she never talks about, from what I've heard before she was more flexible. NOT ANYMORE! Don't take her! She needs to retire!!

teaches straigt from her syllabus & attendance is mandatory! as long as you are respectful & do EVERY speech you are guaranteed to pass. she does give 2 quizes on a book she doesnt talk about in class but like she says the first day of class, shes not your mom, its your responsibility to read the book on your own! your in college

Awesome prof. The problem is that you get all these guys kids and want to act like your in high school. She is direct and informative. Very helpful and wants you to really learn. Makes herself very available and she rocks best class. take her if you want to strength your college skills, not for students that are childish.

Professor Long is a really sweet woman. She's a little 'over-the-top' but she is a good speech teacher. Gives extra credit and understands that it's terrifying for a lot of people to do public speech. If you do the assignments and try your hardest, she takes that into account. She is an AWESOME teacher! She really motivates her students..as a class (together)makes us do an "I am awesome" chant before we do any speech..she really helped me get over my fear of public speaking! I got a B in her class! Just read the material she assigns and you will pass...her tests are common sense..I really liked her way of teaching.

if you are a slacker don't bother you wont pass. she is a very sweet lady and if you are sick just make arrangements. easy to pass definetly recommend and very understandable

Stickler for attendance, but if you're a good student, you do learn how to organize your thoughts into a good speech. She is very organized, grades really quickly, and goes directly with her syllabus. Tests were "from the book" but I didn't read and still got B's. They're pretty common sense. I guess that's true of the whole class.

Ms. Long is a sweet yet bitter lady lol. She can be nice but can turn into the exact opposite if you get on her bad side. She is really really old school when it comes to her class rules and attendence. My advice, Prepare and practice practice practice for the speeches if you want to survive. I got a B, so she isn't too hard. But she isn't easy lol

This class is somewhat difficult if you are not good at public speaking. I would consider myself to be a good writer, but a bad speaker, and I ended up with a "B." Most people ended up with C's. Do not slack off if you decide to take this class. The professor is nice, but she's a tough grader.

All I can say is... Shes's an AWESOME professor! I really enjoyed her class. I was terrified to speak in public, pfft if anything I was planning on dropping the class because I was terrified of public speaking, but I don't mind it anymore. "Remember, YOU ARE AWESOME! :)"

Before taking this class, i was TERRIFIED of public speaking. I am an introvert and presenting was difficult for me, but I managed. In the end, I loved public speaking. She is very clear on what she wants and always do it her way. Be punctual and avoid absences; she deducts 10 points for each. Most importantly, let loose. Make it fun(:

AWESOME teacher, very helpful and is clear on what she wants. All the speeches have outlines and she helps you if you need more understanding. She is honestly not as bad as people think, as long as you do your work, try, and have plenty of eye contact during speeches she is a great instructor. I truly learned to feel more comfortable in front of people after taking this class

A very strict professor and i mean it! If you can't follow her RULES & INTRUCTIONS CLEARLY! You might as well kiss that A Grade good bye! She is tough and you better be prepare to speak with cofidence & eye contact. She lets you use this flashcards in class to help you speak but beware she lowers your grade dramatically if you read off them.

Took her over the summer and I had to present every week. (5 week class). She was precise on the expectations since the beginning of the semester. She is strict about speeches as well as the audience feedback however she is very approachable.

Took her for the summer. She crammed it in, 5 speeches in 5 weeks. Seriously fast paced. Try to only take this class if you are taking over the summer. Follow her syllabus and outlines EXACTLY and do an okay job during the speech, you'll get the A. Two tests worth +40% of class, multiple choice, directly from book. DO NOT come late or skip class.

Honestly created this account to bring to light what an amazing professor Long is. She is honestly super caring and easily one of the professors I respect the most. She helped mold me into a very nerve-free public speaker. She was very organized, precise and an overall amazing instructor. Thank you for everything professor, you rock! :)

Prof. Long is a caring, patient, accessible teacher. She demands respect to the subject a lot. She tells you exactly what you need for your presentations. She advices you in how to get better with your public speaking issues. Every speech is graded according to the time limit she sets. Is a fun interactive class that improves your public speaking.

overall a good prof, make sure to clearly read instructions she gives for assignments though, she is pretty strict with that
