She is a wondeful person who expects her students to learn and to put in effort. Prepares students wonderfully to transfer. This was an elective course for me. I did all my work, went to lectures, and did well.

One of the best professors I have ever had. Margie makes the class so easy her experience and informative lectures make her tests a breeze. Margies class was absolutely fascinating. SWC should be proud of Margie they are lucky to have her.

Lots of work to be done for the class. You need to be a lot more organized than she is. For an A, you really have to study and work for it. Tons of study guides and studying for the exams can really take a toll on you. I've never studied and worked so hard for a class before until I had Stinson.

I thought she was a great teacher. Her exams were what should have been expected from the course. One tip that I could recomend to all of you is that you check out a Zoology book from the public-library!.. The text- book assigend is for the most part a molecular bio. book.

Are you kidding me? Get over yourselves and just do the homework. She's a great teacher who deserves better students that are will to get down to it and learn. She's one of the greatest people i've known since i've started going to southwestern,not only for school, but for emotional support also. She's a jem and you guys treat her like dirt.

Very nice lady. Very caring and helpful but she expects A LOT! I worked on an assignment for 8 hours and gave up because i was so frustrated. Do NOT take this class if you are trying to work, don't get me wrong it was very interesting but just way too much work. this class w/ her should be 12 units by itself!

She is very nice, but very disorganized and gets behind on grading(forces the student to suffer by making you leave lab books and hunt her down later in the week for them,which gives you less than ample time to do all the reqd homework and studying for quizzes). Her notes get very off topic and are not on the quizzes.

She is a great teacher. Very passionate about the subject that she is teaching. Be perpared to work. There is always something due in this class. I would only not advise someone who was lazy to take this class. While it is highly enjoyable, it is still a lot of work.

She is extremely helpful with anything you ask her and offers all the help she can give you, while asking nothing in return! She REALLY knows her stuff!! She is an amazing professor, she knows everything related on Biology and if not, she finds out. The class is fun, interesting,but there are a lot of drawings to do. I took her fast paced online course. At first, it seemed a lot but it really was not. Just take weekly quizzes; do the exams, and discussion boards and you'll do fine. A lot of information are in the blackboard and just read those and skim through the book. The quizzes/tests are straight forward and most of the time obvious. Responds to email fast!

Professor Stinson is very passionate about the subject and what she has done in her past biology experiences. Her lectures are interesting, most may not be related to the topic but she has several handouts that are clear and understanding. She respects her students and their lives outside of School. I highly recommend taking her class. She's great

She truly loves Zoology. She teaches more from her own personal handouts than from the books. However, I generally found the books very useful. Tests are curved, otherwise this class would be much harder. Labs require a lot of drawing! I earned an A+ by attending every class/lab, doing 5 hrs studying-homework/wk, & turning in every assignment.

I like Ms. Stinson She has a very good attitude, and shes friendly with everyone Class is not mandatory, but every class is a different lab so must not be absent in lab because lab reports are very important I found this class super easy counting that in my time there i did not studied at all, nor used my book She is helpful and has much experience

ONLINE bio100. very nice, trys very hard to help u understand everything and gives u many ways to succeed. weekly 10 point guizs (2 trys) + 5, 50-70 ques exams, drops lowest score (exclude final) + discussions + couple misc work. nice lady but work load is large and very hard. too my work imo and she goes over difficult things + hard test questions

She does know her stuff, but the tests are a a lil too hard. You can use notes (a 3 by 5 card)for the test... yet you kinda have to guess what YOU REALLY need for the test.

DO NOT BUY the text book! I'm taking it for the summer. NO NEED. She puts LOTSSS of information on line, too much if you ask me. She's very helpful but the quiz/exams are tough.

Her handouts are clear so study them and you'll get good grades on the exams. A bit of workload but it'll help you in the long run. It's not that impossible to get an A since a lot of whom I talked to had an A average. Do all the work and have your A.

She is very passionate about the subject but it is an extremely boring class, and even though i didnt take the online class it felt as if i did cuz she puts EVERYTHING on blackboard, and you have to print out 20pgs of notes each week. DO NOT take this class! all she talks about is black board, I didnt learn ANYTHING!

This isn't a cake-walk class. It's the basis for all future biology classes, so it shouldn't be! It can be difficult, but if you make the effort and are willing to put time into reading and studying, this instructor will absolutely bend over backwards to ensure that you have the knowledge necessary to continue on with your college career.

Online class- I really enjoyed her class, she is always there to help and gives out lots of extra credit. I read some previous reviews, and I do not know where they are coming from. If you study her handouts, and do the study guides, you will get a High B or an A. I didnt even buy the book and I got an 88%. She gives plenty of time on the tests.

It's not a walk in the park nor should you expect it to be! I got a B in her class and I am pretty satisfied with my work! Don't procrastinate and read/study handouts. She makes her own, no book required! Overall she's such a sweetheart and most of the classwork is done online. Just show up to class for lectures, they help you!

I took her online class but as far as being in the military and having to attend trainings, she was pretty flexible in moving the due dates. She will communicate with you in whatever you need. She is a very understanding and she has a passion for teaching. I would recommend her but not online. Itd be better to have her in a classroom environment

Her Zoology class is extremely hard and made me change my major from biology to business. You will have to devote all of your time and life to studying and doing the assignments. I really think she is bitter that college wasn't that easy for her, and feels it shouldn't be easy for SWC students either.

She knows a lot about zoology and she is extremely interesting. If you do not like doing homework or labs dont take her because she assigns something everyday you go to class. She is repetitive and is forgetful, but overall a good teacher

She is one of my FAVORITE teachers I have had in college. Not only is she very friendly she is also VERY HELPFUL to her students and takes the time to respond to everyone who needs help. I am taking her class online and love to learn with all the extra links she provides. She is a wonderful professor! I highly recommend taking her class

AMAZING professor, really knows her stuff. Her online class is very straight forward. Do the study guides and you should be good, but the supplemental readings were very good too. Very helpful and seems very nice, wish I'd actually had her for lecture.

Just took the on-line class for the summer. What can I say, there was tons of writing for discussions and replies. She does give a long list of websites to read and research. BTW if you like researching and writing, then go ahead and take the class. Otherwise, if you'd rather do assignments that don't involve writing short essays, don't take it.

I took her online class and I thought it was on the easy side. Don't buy the book, you wont need it. She makes pdf files for you to study off of. I would take her class again. The only thing that I hated was the discussion boards! Those things take me forever to complete.

Lots of material to cover each week. Gives extra credit and with out doing it, I wouldn't have received an A. Very helpful but you will need to study and work for your grade. Discussion do almost every week and you have to reply to at least one other post, min of 250 words. Weekly quizzes and lots of research. I loved the class and learned a lot!

Her own written documents are very interesting! I understood the info better than the one from the textbook! Read the docs and you will get an A on your quizzes. She lets you take the quizzes twice so that's good!!! Her exams are not that hard. She's a very nice teacher, and very helpful. Highly recommend her!!

Although I got a C, I didn't try at all. The online work is easy, as long as you meet the guidelines you'll get full credit. Oh and I've turned em in late and still got full credit (it was before she graded though) Quizes you can take twice and there the exact same questions each time. If you know nothing about biology take this class online

This tchr gives you a TON of work and you need to post very detailed w cites, many exams n quizes. You will be submitting everyday. She is vry precise, lists dates and asgmts that u are able to follow if you pay close attention. I learned a ton in her class. Do not take 2 many classes with this one. Do your work. She will be fair. great experience!

I don't recommend this online class unless you get overwhelmed with the work load you have to do for this class. and not to mention I did it during the summer so that was also a bad call for me, and I don't fully understand some of the assignments either. So now I will be taking the class on campus rather online.

Took Stinson for Bio 143 an online class about the bio, geology, and oceanography of Baja California. The class was extremely easy, all discussion boards, only a few tests, but a good amount of quizzes (which you can take twice!) She's very friendly both online & in person,& has great work experience with sea turtles.

On line classprof needs to replace in class lecture & discussion with other activities lots of reading.. There are 2 DB postswk (sometimes 3) @250 words and you must respond to 2 @250 words. DO THE STUDY GUIDES! #next to links helps you know what to read & how much. Take notes of vids. Final Exam made up of q's from quizes, so take note.

I have really enjoyed this class. Professor Margie Stinson is very professional and cares a lot about her students. Biology is a tough class but she makes it so interesting and amazing, but if you want a good grade, expect to read her lectures, do her study guide questions and follow her weekly instructions. I highly recommend her.

Experience in the online class: Gives quizzes every week with a exam (based on a few of the quizzes) every few weeks. It's nice because the final is just one of the exams and not a final based on everything that was in the class but the stuff that was recently.

Stinson herself is an amazing person with fascinating stories to tell you on the first day. However, her lectures are long and gruesome, you definitely need willpower to stay awake during them! Studying for a quiz will require 2-4 hours, homework takes an additional 2-3 hours. This class is no joke, you need lots of time and dedication for her.

Took professor Stinson for biology 100 online. Don't fall behind. There are weekly discussion board forums, which are interesting and straightforward. You also have to reply to another students work as the second part of the discussion board to get all 10 points. online quizzes, she gives you 2 tries! She gives weekly discussion board assignments. She gives extra credit. she really wants you to pass the class and she has her own Stinson resources. She gives study guides for each exam and the quizzes she gives you 2 times to try it. She also does not make you buy a textbook (it is online). Be prepared to read.

Extremely huge amount of homework/labs/papers due, but stinson does care about her students and will help you with whatever you need. If you stay on top of your assignments class is a breeze.

Margery is a wonderful bio teacher she is super kind and has no problem answering questions. Although I didn't pass her class because I got lazy bio 210 is a lot of work and she asks specific questions on tests and quizzes so always be prepare for class. Lectures can drag a bit but she's very passionate. So do not get lazy in this class !

Class has SO MUCH WORK! It was a summer class. Had a couple discussion boards and quizzes, sometimes exams every week. She had a lot of info on BB. Takes up alot of your time.

I loved this class. She has made me more interested in Biology because she gives her students lots of interesting information. She provides study guides for every quiz which she lets you take twice. The DB were so easy and the exams are not that hard. Overall, I would take her class again and it is also very well organized. You won't regret it!!!

very kind and helpful. gives few extra credits. get ready to work hard because she gives many hw but its a 200 class. tests are mostly writting and rest are multiple choice. she gives several resources for you to read, not mandatory, but very helpful for tests and lab practicum. the labs are fun. dissections, lectures and quiz every class. keep up.

Great class if you want to do a lot without doing much work. Weekly discussion boards is the standard online. I never read the free online book she provided, but provides study guides for all the quizzes and exams. Ready those, and you'll be fine. Easy A.

Great course and teacher for those who aren't bio majors! Clear readings and videos to help with preparations for discussion boards and quizzes! No textbook for this class as she provides the material!! Extra credit as well (not even necessary unless you're just slacking)

The 2nd course with Prof. Stinson. She is just an amazing person! Her class is engaging even online. 1-2 quizzes a week about 10 questions, discussion boards, & about 4 exams throughout the semester. They're not cumulative however, you will see a question or two from previous exams. Easy if you put in the effort. Take advantage of the EC it adds up

Wonder professor and extremely responsive. Truly interacts with the class, despite the barrier of a computer screen. Her discussions are fun and will also invite you to take other courses based on your richness of written material. I waited to biology until my last semester to achieve my A.A and I am glad she was my professor.

So, so, so much homework. More than I've ever received for a class. It was the most stressful class I took this semester. And so many quizzes. Work aside, very inspirational topics, and very passionate teaching. I definitely feel like my world views were impacted. But prepare for nonstop writing. Minimum 2 short essays a week.

I really enjoyed this class online. She gave us a lot to study from and therefore made the quizzes and test easy. As long as you read the material and watch the videos, you will pass. She is there to help.

Stinson is a sweet and caring professor. Not only are her exams extremely easy, but she grades on a curve as well. Only downside is the unnecessary amount of homework she assigns. Just do your best, it's not difficult, just tedious and very annoying. Get on her good side, make flash cards, and study- should be an easy A.

Professor Stinson is very passionate about ecology. Its one of those classes that you can genuinely enjoy taking. It really did change my perception about the environment. The only con, but doesn't necessarily affect how I view her is the reading is sorta heavy. Also DO THE EXTRA CREDIT!!! IT ADDS UP!!! I would take her again if needed to.

She really cares for her students, and gives a lot of extra credits. However, she gives a lot of material for you to read and watch, sometimes unnecessary. Discussions required peer's response and your own post, each one of them had to be 250 words. She is extremely passionate about the environment but a little bit unorganized on the assignments.

Total of 20 quizes, you have two tries per quiz to do better, the questions stay the same. Read the given article, and the quiz is based on it, so take notes. About 0- 3 discussion boards per week, a 250 word paragraph with 3 online websites needed for them, then another 250 word paragraph to reply on someone's post. It sounds like a lot; it's easy

Zoology is a hard class with a lot of information to learn but the professor is really great at being there for her students. There are discussions on topics that are being viewed in class, they require research but are not bad at all. Study hard for tests and pay attention to what she says will be on it.

Professor Stinson is really passionate for her class. She is a great person and will help you with anything. She leaves a good amount of homework and also gives many unnecessary papers. Its important to be there on time and also to keep up with work. Her grading is fair she even let me turn in my final report late.

I had Professor Stinson Summer 2020. Due to Covid, it was 100% online/canvas. She provides a lot of website articles and videos in regards to each lesson. She's insightful, extremely organized, and sticks to the rubric. Highly Recommended.

Her class is super easy. I never even cracked open my textbook. Be prepared that homework consists of writing, but it's tolerable. She gives you a rubric that lists everything you need to do in order to get an A. I love how she provides you with a weekly article connecting what you've learned in the class. Really nice professor!

Tough class but a great teacher! This is a teacher that really cares for her students. You get a ton of information but she is so nice, and knows everything! I wish she taught the next class, cell bio. I would take her again!

She can be full sus sometimes, but you just have to work with her. Unfortunalty its alot of reading and deffinitions. I suggest you get the book early and know all the definitions and objective before the class starts. Dont do the labs the night before. Watch all the videos and lectures. Then review everything starting one week prior to exam. GL

Professor Stinson is The Best! I took her my first semester in college and it was fantastic, her classes, lectures, assignments are very interesting, you will learn many important things that will help you to have real critical thinking skills and be successful in college. She is very smart and interesting and explains very well every topic.

I took bio lecture with Stinson during fall. The week comprised of 2 quizzes discussion boards of 250 words for part A and 1 reply of 250 to a classmate. It seems like a lot but compared to other bio lecture classes this is the best option! Each quiz gave you 2 tries and I found some on q let. The tests were kind of difficult but she curved all.

This is a continuation of my last post. I hardly read any of her resources or even the textbook and I still managed to get an A by the end of the semester. Just do all assignments and learn as much as the material you can even though she gives a lot of worksheets some questions from the previous tests/quizzes show up on the following tests!
