Interesting instructor, approachable, knows her stuff. A bit extreme at times (brings up personal issues during group work) but challenges your POV with the issues. Needs to use something else besides Chalace & Blade for theory though!

Great teacher. You get out of the class what you put into it. She's anti**** so If you think things like sexism, racism and homophobia are ok then don't take her class.

There's a lot of short writing assignments and lots of readings to go along with them. The class is pretty easy, just do your work and show up and you'll pass. Lots of people drop within the first few days, so if you are trying to add, stick with it.

If you like the traditional class setting you won't like this class. There is a lot of reading and writing. If you're lazy, don't take this class. This class will expose you to the other side...if you're not ready don't take this class.

Assigns way too much work and readings. Class material is interesting but be ready to write a 3 page paper every week with another 6 pager at midterm and a 10 pager at final time. Strange professor but very knowledgeable. Overall she gives too much work.

She is different but look at the subject matter. hello, it is to be expected. she is not hard and she is not mean. skim the readings and write whatever you feel. you will get an A.

You learn more than you realize from Crowdes. Many aspects of her courses seem might seem like a waste of time, but after some time has passed, you recognize just how much you did in fact learn.

The professor wears weird clothes and may seem like she is stuck in the 70's but the stuff she points out are from this era. Good teacher/nice lady. Can be a little moody sometimes. Theres a TON of writing/reading in the class, often over short spans of time.Don't just state the obvious, try to at least use generic class terms and you'll pass no problem. Lots of discussion so PARTICIPARTE!!

The lectures aren't the best, but you can't complain too much because you don't take tests. If you want an "A", just write her main theories/ideas in your papers over and over again.

She's a great instructor & has a passion for the issues.... If you're a slacker or you aren't into the topic then go to some teacher who will give you an easy A. If you want to learn something about Soc & about life then Dr. C is a profound instructor you'll appreciate, if not now then later.

Dr. Crowdes is a very good teacher. She expects her students to do the work. Her style is colabrative learning - which is the whole way she teaches her class. She will offer you a way to change your thinking about a lot of things in life - if you allow her to. She is wonderful and I encourage you to take her as a teacher. She is amazing!

Most of her classes involve students getting into a circle and talking about the textbook readings. You do a lot of talking in this class, but it's *very* low-stress. I'm shy and generally hate required participation, but I really enjoyed this course. I learned a lot from it. Also: extremely easy grader.

Circle discussions on the readings. If you are in a chatty class, the class will drag on. Attendance isn't mandatory, but she checks by the amt. of assignments you sign up for. Hint Try to sign up for all. Class is super easy. Midterm and Final are take home essays. Both are pretty easy. Got a B and my effort was more like a C.

i used to not like the format of her classes. but i've come to apprieciate her style. lots of reading, writing and group work (20 service learning hours also if you take that specific class). I would've liked to take the class that wasn't SL, but i like Crowdes as a prof. Very easy class, just do the work. No final exam, just a presentation.

Professor Crowdes is a sweet lady. She really gets you to think about your family and intimate relationships. There is a lot of writing/reading in this class but very easy topics. Fun end of the semester group project. Takes attendance on occasion. Overall fun class but kind of a lot of work.

Everyone says she is sooo hard but in reality she was very easy. If you come to class and try to improve your papers each time you will get at least a B. I came to every class, did all my papers, there are 4, no tests, no homework, and I got an A+. She is actually really cool and nice if you show respect. GO TO EVERY CLASS. Group work, easy.

Very nice lady! She def. walks the talk. She's teaching about partnership and therefore she runs her class as a partnership. You really get to know your peers and although it's very dif. from your average lecture/test type class it's so much better! Class is a little odd at first, but after a while you get used to her way of teaching. She's really not bad at all. Just go to class and participate a little bit, do the papers and youll get at least a B

shes totally quirky and sometimes knit- picky but shes honestly really adorable like a little mouse. you cant get mad at her for beating dead horses because she has a genuine need to communicate and teach her passions to her students. If you even put in a little effort, the class is rewarding. I almost want to ask her to go get lunch some time!

Half of grade is 3 prep papers, 1 group facilitation, class reflections, 1 wildcard and once as a reporter in one of the 6 co-facilitations through out the semester. The other half of grade is the final which consists of final group facilitation and final paper. Class wasn't hard and is passable. Frequent group discussions and peer-to-peer activity

I absolutely love this teacher and the class! The first few weeks of SOC311 were very hard because there was a lot of reading and a few papers BUT it was the foundation for what we were going to do the rest of the semester. No room for cynics or slackers but you will walk away from this course with a whole new way of seeing people and the world!

Soc 303 with crowdes is beyond easy. If you are incredibly shy and dont like talking in front of others then THIS IS NOT the class u want to take. There's a three page paper due pretty much each week and this class involves a lot of group time. If you want an A do the papers, talk, and just show up!

This was my favorite class in college so far. Her teaching style is different in that she doesn't stand up in front of the classroom and talk at you for 2 hours like everyone else. She gets you to think, and provides you with the tools to help make a change. Class is based on group work. Put in the effort & you'll do fine. Buy the book!

Professor Crowdes is wonderful! Her class structure is confusing at first, but if you stick with it, it becomes very easy and clear. 2 essays, several facilitations, either a written take home essay final or multiple choice scantron. Very nice professor and you can tell she cares about everyone's learning. Would take her again for sure.

I took this professor for many classes, while yes, confusing at first, it becomes clear. She cares about everyone in her class and improved my writing. The sociology content has made so much difference in my life and understanding after graduating!

40 page Syllabus & 15 page Interactive Guide Line. This class is an "Interactive Course" You learn to participate to teach one another on Inequalities. Dr Crowdes puts 29 years of experience by table spoon feeding every step.Note chairs R group class circle 100% name placards placed in front of each table like U.N. I LoVe her. 2 thumbs up.

Really helpful. Her class is always seminar style and she has you facilitate the lectures but pushes you through them. 2 quizzes, 2 paper (which are super easy and only 2 pages), and 2 facilitation's and you're done. High recommended

So she is the BEST teacher I have taken and this is my 4th year. Her syllabus is straight forward. She says there is a lot of reading, but honestly you do not even need to read just skim the work. It is all about participation and giving your opinion. Her learning style is open conversation, not much lecturing. I wish she taught more classes!

I have taken her twice now and would take her again if she had 400 level courses. At the beginning she seems difficult, but if you just skim the reading and show up you will get a good grade. 2 short tests and 2 short papers. Everything else is just group based discussion. If you want an engaging SOC class wo the boring lecture, take this class

Great start to sociology classes and being a good human in general, pay attention to class and you'll love it!

You have to read, and turn in your responses, weekly. There will be socratic-seminar style talks, in which you definitely participate. DO NOT refer to classmates as a whole as 'guys' (ex: hello, you guys!). Overall, she is a nice person trying to bring out the best in her students. Save all your work!!!!

Crowdes class is interesting if you don't go you won't pass but if you pay attention you will pass the lass!
