The first two tests are REALLY EASY. Just be weary of the third test, everyone in my class f'd it up. She's a nice teacher, but sometimes she gets off track... at times her voice can be kind of low, so try to sit up front.

I'm taking her virtual class. She's sweet. The class is very accomodating which is a must for us in Virtual College - it is more work than on campus, but the way she has it set up gives you relative freedom with your time -unlike other VC teachers!!

She's an excellent Prof, but Statistics isn't an easy subject. Homework?s are done online via CourseCompass, it's extremely tedious and time consuming but it's worth it; you really learn. She provides extra credit and really cares about her student's outcome. I would definite take her again. Just play your role; read, do the HW and you'll be iight!

Took her class online. Lots of homework I must say. The problem I had is that the tests are different from the homework assignments and because of that it becomes kind of difficult. This is not an easy subject, if I could choose again I would take this class in a campus instead of online. Got an A but worked really hard throughout the term.

Prof. has very fair grading. I took this class online and it was possible to pass with regular studying. Her exams are not complicated, they come straight from the hw. She gives weekly HW which does count towards your grade. Make sure you have time to go to the lab if you need extra help. You will need to stay on top of the work in order to pass.

Hands down the best Stats professor at MDC Kendall! Her methods of teaching were without a doubt beyond expertise...attendance is mandatory, tests come straight from the study guides she gives out, drops your lowest test grade with the "final". She has a good sense of humor, try to answer all questions. She uses connect math for homework. Her grade system:10% group activities, 10% homework, and 80% test. There are four tests (it covers an average of 6 sections), she gives extra credit whenever she feels like. She tries her best to provide clear examples of each section.

The people below are not being honest I'm still in the class and have the syllabus right here.4 test online 55% of grade. Online HW 10% of grade. Final 35% of grade. The HW was long and excessive but not too bad. If you do a little at a time, you'll be fine. She gave reviews just like online test. Final is a collection of all 4 test. MEMORIZE IT.

She provides examples for each section, she is going to cover in the exam. As long as you pay attention, ask questions, and practice, this class is an essay A.

EXCELLENT PROFESSOR. CRYSTAL CLEAR EXPLANATIONS. 4 online test. 1 Proctored Final (35%) of grade. 4 online test were almost exactly as her review. Final was 90% identical to her review. HW is only too much when you let it PILE up. Do it little by little. Very polite and fair. Don't try her though. I finished with a 97% after Final Exam. Easy A.

She's a good teacher, she explains everything well and provides section reviews that cover all material that will be seen on the test. She is very helpful, she will answer any questions you have during office hours or after class. All of the homework is online through Connect Math. I will definitely take her again.

She is very nice, I went though Rate My Professor to pick her and read all these great thing and most were true but the BOOK CHANGED! Her tests dont match in any way what she teaches. You need to know the ins and out of statistics to get a C on the test, they are computer generated so the reviews helps a little but not enough. Only 4 test's

Professor Alvarez is an awesome math professor. She knows exactly how to simplify the problems so that all the students understand. She gives you about a month for homework and she gives many tests but if you understand the material and you study by practicing the problems she gives on the study guides you'll pass.

Stat online is thought. Homework online extra credit. expect discussions on each module that requires to participate and respond to get full credit. Not easy but not hard. I would take her again but in person. Use the statcrunch from Etext and was helpful but you can't use it for proctored final, all tests are online.

The tests are exactly like the study guides so it's easy to get an A in everything. The homework is LONG and tedious, but you can still get an A. The professor is good and grades very quickly. The only complaint I have is that the final was 30% and it knocked me down from an A to a B! And I got an A in every single assignment the entire semester...

There's no way you can fail. The reviews are EXTREMELY similar to the 4 tests she gives. The homework is the only tedious part because its online but she makes it due the day of the exam so it comes in clutch as a review source. She does have an accent but her clarity and willingness to further explain overpowers that.

No complaints about the professor herself, but this is a fairly tough class. 28 HW's (each takes 30 minutes to 2 hours), 8 discussions (with 3 responses each), and 6 tests. It is a lot of work. Again, the professor is fairly decent and replies to all emails for help and such. I do not recommend this class unless needed. If it is, take it with her.

Math is easily my worst subject, but I had absolutely no problem learning with her as my teacher. In fact, she made me excited to learn and achieve. She would happily answer every question asked in class. She was also very understanding with missing classes if you need to. I can't recommend her enough to anyone who's having math troubles.

Great teacher clear instructions and gives study guides. You WILL need to work hard. She is always available for help so take advantage! Requires a lot of studying but ultimately if you don't pass its your own fault. BEWARE of the first test !!

AMAZING teacher! Great, crystal clear instructions- step by step. Repeats until you understand. A LOT of HW but it's to your benefit-it's practice for the test. Will literally go step by step and answer all questions in detail. I found her teaching to be very manageable and I understood everything she teaches because she narrows it down for you. 4 tests and she provides study guides for all of them that are almost identical to the test. Do the online hw and study guide and you will for sure pass.

She will explain everything in detail. She is very understanding and provides a lot of easy opportunities for extra credit. Gives study guides for each test & has an online link with all her lectures. 4 tests that are mostly MC maybe 1 or 2 open ended and an optional final. Will even give you some points for showing work even if the answer is wrong

Professor Alvarez is the best stats professor at Miami Dade. Her grading criteria is very clear. 90% 4 tests (and optional final that replaces your lowest grade) and 10% homework thats due at the end of the semester. HER REVIEW IS EXACTLY LIKE HER TESTS. she gives extra credit. she is caring. like come on it doesn't get easier than this.

Maria Alvarez is the best math teacher I've ever had! Study the reviews for the tests and do the MyStatLab homework and you will pass. She gives a lot of extra credit for in-class reviews that she does before the tests so make sure you show up for those. Very caring and funny LOVED her class.

Im not good at statistics, but professor Alvarez made it easy to learn. She explains everything well in her lectures and her exams (4) are just like the study guide! All the homework is due the last day of class so dont slack. She also gives easy extra credit in class for participation!!

Ive taken Professor Alvarez twice now. Shes a great professor. The textbook does a pretty good job explaining itself, but she also is great at helping you out if youre stuck. Theres a lot of online homeworks assignment but theyre very helpful. Her test reviews are extremely similar to her test. Just keep up and youre good.

Prof Alvarez is a great professor! She truly teaches the lessons as they are and her reviews mock the test. Make sure you dont fall behind on the homework though because she grades it all on the last week of the semester so if you leave it till the end you most likely wont do it. Also, dont recommend taking it blended (half online).

Attendance is not mandatory, but if you don't show up consistently, good luck. She's kind, and actually goes out of her way to teach, and that's a rarity that should be appreciated.

Great professor! Very caring and sweet, genuinely cares about her students. Lectures are clear when she explains it but her notes arent easy to understand without her explaining so going to class is a must. Easily accessible outside of class and lets you take tests ahead of time if needed. Very flexible. Would take again!!!

Clear lectures. Grades based on 4 tests, an optional final, and homework (10%). Homework was easy enough especially after her lectures. Didn't test her attendance policy but I sat near the middle scrolling through twitter every class and she didnt seem to mind.

Makes sure her students understand the lecture and she is super accessible outside of class. She gives extra credit and gives test reviews so take all the opportunities she gives you, it makes a difference. Pay attention to the lectures because everything she goes over is on the test. Overall, she's really great. I don't like math but I got an A.

Skip class and you wont pass because youll be lost. Stats requires lots of study time and good time management. If you cant give this class time then dont take it...i suffered for taking many difficult classes at once. Did not get my ideal grade. If all you need to do is pass by any means necessary then this is your professor! She teaches well

Great math teacher, makes statistics seem easy. Super caring and funny, 4 exams and a lot of homework, it isn't hard, just takes up your time. Lectures are clear and easy to keep up with, all of her notes are online so you won't fall behind. There's a group project but she guides you along the way and it's super easy. Highly recommend.

Shes one of the sweetest professors ever and she makes stats soo easy. She gives extra credit opportunities for every exam and the homework is all online. The final is a group project but its pretty easy. I would definitely suggest taking her!

As someone that has really hard time with math, I could not wish for a better professor than her. She made the statistics look easy and there was no way you wouldn't understand it if you pay attention in the class. She is very kind, sweet, and accessible outside the class. There are 4 tests, one group project, and online homework. Would take again!

She gave an extreme amount of online homework. She reduced it but it was still pretty hard. I am thankful that she cared enough to reduce it and understood our problems. Then the tests were moderately hard. She goes over the review for tests, in which, I loved the most about her.

Really good professor. She teaches in a way that makes it easy for me to understand. She records lectures & also gives extra credit. Book isn't required but you will need access to MathLab to do HW and take tests (only 4 tests total). Will take again in the future.

Professor Alvarez was great! I did the class MDC live. There is 4 test in total that are proctored using the lockdown browser and the homework is optional that gives you extra credit using Aleks. She also uploads a study guide for each quiz that is the same as the test with different numbers. Overall she is the sweetest and truly cares.

Professor Alvararez, is an amazing, understanding, and caring professor. She cares for everyones learning and success. Test are proctored!! However, if you do your homework and review study guide, you will do great in all your test. Keep in mind there is a lot of homework, do not wait until the last minute. Good luck!

Lots of homework, but if you follow her recommended schedule you can finish it all. Do not leave it for the last minute, it takes more than a week to finish all the homework. If you ask, she offers extra credit and extends due dates if there is a good reason. She responds to her emails. There are two proctored exams, 6 tests, 8 discussions, and hw.

Professor Alvarez is the sweetest one at MDC. She cares a lot about her students, and the way she teaches the material really shows that. The lectures might be slow, but that's because she explains the material slowly and dedicates her time to answering questions.

Maria is amazing, patient and clear in what she teaches, I'm taking her for a 6week course and she explain things in details that there's no way you don't get it. Even more I'm not math savvy but she make understanding the work easy, plus if you miss a class the whole class period is up on canvas to see what you miss.

Professor Alvarez is dedicated and explains concepts well. Lots of homework, but she's understanding and offers extensions if needed. unstuckstudy was a lifesaver for staying on top of it all. Overall, a challenging yet rewarding class.

Easily the best math professor I've had the pleasure of working with at MDC. Very caring and teaches stats in a way that is easy to understand. The trick to passing her class is to practice her reviews (they're basically the same as the test), do the HW, and go to her lectures. There's four exams worth 25% each and extra credit HW on ALEKS.

100% of the grade comes from 4 tests and optional final which drops the lowest grade and there is also 40 pts extra of homework on Aleks. All 4 tests online 2 on lockdown 2 w/ nothing. I took the class in person but she does zoom meetings aswell I literally didnt go to class in person once and attendance is not mandatory. Super easy and shes cool

Graded on only exams. Attendance is optional and Aleks hw was extra credit. It was supposed to be in person but most of started doing zoom bc her lectures are too slow and boring. Tests were supposed to be half in person and half online, but ended up being all optionally online on lockdown. Easy class and would be easy to learn if you wanted to

Professor Alvarez is extremely knowledgeable in statistics, and I learned a great deal from his course. The lectures are dense but clearly explained, making the material easier to understand. Earning an A is very achievable if you stay focused and keep up with the work.

This class is very easy to pass if you do your homework and discussion posts. There was a proctored midterm and final exam. Professor Alvarez gives you plenty of time to complete assignments, and the course material is not difficult.

She's one of the best math teachers I've had here at MDC. She's really knowledgeable in the subject she teaches and she's really caring. 100% of your grade comes from 4 tests; they are not difficult but as long as you review the study guide, you'll be fine. The homework is extra credit. I recommend her a lot! :)

She's caring and supportive, always willing to explain any question you have. She posts the zoom videos on Panopto so if you have an emergency, you don't have to attend. 1 proctored test and the rest are non-proctored, also have weekly assignments on my lab math with infinite retake.

Shows how to do everything step by step so it is pretty easy as long as you write down the steps. She gave extra credit for things you had unlimited tries on. The homework can also show you step by step

Attendance is not mandatory, and the homework is done for an extra credit grade. She is very nice and a superb teacher; she made statistics the easiest thing ever. Does a study guide help you like two classes before the test, and the test is open for almost a week.
