Class is not as bad as people say, as long as you do the reading.

She is super nice, very approchable and if you go to her class tests are easy. Very professional! Easy A.

Overall great teacher. I learned a lot of info that I didn't know.I would recommend this class.

she's super nice, schedual always adjusts becuase we fall behind, and if you study what she tells you and go to class you'll pass, she's always there to help and very sweet

She is a super nice lady who really cares for her students and her class. Easy class....just read and do the paper well and you should have no problem.

The class starts out difficult. She is pretty picky but later on it gets easier. BEWARE she gets mad easily make sure to use OUTLINE form and have your outline with you or she will embarrass you in front of the whole class. Good luck if you take her.

nice prof,learn a lot,paper appears difficult but a piece of cake in reality.Just READ & you will be fine.Interesting material,just a few boring parts.

She was easy going. Nice lady and one can definately get brownie points with her if they take the time. Got A, never aced a test.

a lot of reading, tests t/f only, 2 essay tests. i found i did the same if i did all the reading or if i just blankly filled in the test. not that interesting, but was able to pull off good grade.

intelligent,interesting,an amazing professor&person.very informative&always available,if a student actually tries to contact her.best advice READ,READ! yeah so she had some personal issues this semester..but who doesn't? be more understanding,at least shes honest&adjusted the schedule for the class!

You have to read the material and follow her class lectures. She will give out study guide. Test are not hard. Very helpful if you go to her office. Very good with students with disabilites. Don;t wait till the last minute to ask for help. Paper make sure you undersand her directions. Easy A or B.

I think this professor is really good at explaining the material. She lectures very thrully and lets the students ask any questions that are unclear. Part of the Exams she gives are take home exams which gives us time to work in groups or more time for indiviuals.

She's extremely honest: says exactly what is wrong and needs to be changed. Her honesty is a little brutal, but it's good in the end.

The teacher really knows her subject and the class is interesting. But her tests are very confusing (true false) it seems like she tries to trick the students. She gives extra points and grades on a curve.

She's very helpful but ONLY if you get some 1 to 1 time with her! You can't get by without reading the material because her true/false tests are VERY VERY tricky. She seems to enjoy when a large majority get a question wrong. She'll bounce up and down saying, "I tricked you, I tricked you." She does know her stuff well and class is narrated in an interesting manner.

Easy. A lot of reading assigned to prepare you for tests, besides that no homework. Tests are based on the important parts of the reading, she lectures on what you need to know. Tries to make the class fun. Half of the test is t/f other is an essay. No quizzes. Attendance is very important. Easy going class.

has attitude, kinda loud but knows her stuff, get to know her and shes cool even do letters of rec for you learned a lot in class, some people might take her personality as rude but shes not thats just how she is pprs easy, scantron tests hard

Many think that she has an attitude, but is because they don't understand her. I think she is awesome, she is very clear in her lectures and she gives you a study guide before every test! Easy A.

great professor, she's one of the best I've had here. she knowns her material well, some people don't like her T/F tests but if these people went to class there would have been no problem. there's a lot of reading, however, the information is really interesting and if you're of latin heritage you'll be surprised. take her, you won't regret it!

I got an A...which is impossible. Here's how to do it: 1) Suck up, it helps. 2) DO NOT BUY THE BOOK FOR CCS111A, you wont need it. 3) Use overheads for your visual aids, she has a fettish. 4) Run your topic by her after class, she will basically tell you any bias she has (also a good time to suck up)...And ****ing practice your speech!

Great Teacher

She was a good teacher. She sometimes went off topic but otherwise really nice and if you asked for help she will help you. Get to know her outside of teaching and you'll get along great. Essays and tests are easy, show up to class because it is counted. Make sure to read because you might not understand her lectures a lot. Interesting stories.

She is EXTREMELY HELPFUL. She is fair and very intelligent. Knows her material...FAIR...treats everyone the same. Must attend class if you want a good grade. Not hard at all..but very interesting and ONE of the BEST professor's I have EVER had so far. Very understanding and she cares :). I would definately recommend her. Overall AWESOME prof. :)

Awesome teacher.. make sure you read the required books… tests are t/f , m/c there is also a 4-5 page paper and weekly questions and an in class essay which she gives you the questions 2 weeks prior…… attendance is not mandatory but she does take it when she feels like it and adds points to your overall grade… cares about her students and wants you

Ms.Butler is a very sweet lady, has a lot of consideration for freshmans and a lot of advice. Her class overall is very easy and all you have to do is attend class, go over your notes and read a little and youll do GRRrreAT

may seem a little rude at first but afterwards you get to see a really nice funny kind lady..she cares alot about her students she became like my second mom when i was in her class...fun class sometimes may turnout to be a little boring cuz after the speeches you have to see urself and critique urself and the others from the tape..no book needed!!

She is a good teacher, and she is very funny, she talks a lot about personal experiences. Presentations are recorded and reviewed by the whole class! Plus you get critique. No book needed.

At first she comes off as a total witch. Afterwards she is a really nice lady. She has a sense of humor. Easy class. Dont have hair in you're face and speak loud. NO cleavage!

She is one of the best professors in San Diego state university. She is extremely passionate about her students; she defiantly cares a lot and works every possible way to get you through the course. She is knowledgeable. Her class atmosphere is very relaxing, there are three tests based on the readings and lectures, Oh, there are movies to watch in

kind of mean at first, no one gets lower than a C in her class, but you have to go to all or most classes, doesnt like it when students miss, sometimes has attitude when students are not prepared or if they miss class.

Great teacher!!i have taken ms butler twice already and i enjoy her classes. Very intersting, she does go off topic once in awhile and talks a little to much but she's great. take advantage of the office hours she helps ALOT. I recommend this class

It was a very interesting class if you know a little about Mexican History.You will learn many things they dont tell you in grade school or high school.Two exams 20 questions each and two essays to take home.Hard grader on the essays, but they are fairly easy.I never read the book,mostly took notes in class and watch her videos. Easy A!cool teacher

I had her for Oral Communication and LOVED her. She is so helpful and caring. On the first day she talks about how she wants to make a family and at first you think it's crazy but then it kinda happens and you don't want to leave.We had about 5 speeches one was a group project but it was cool. I suggest taking her class.

Prof. Butler is a great teacher, I definetely learned alot. She came across as strict/mean at first but she just cares about her students and wants us to succeed. 5 speeches, and she grades pretty easily. We also had to make a resume. Come to class and prepare a little bit for the speeches and you will do fine.

She's very intimidating and strict at first, but once you get to know her shes awesome. She truly wants the best for her students. Class is very easy, took her for oral communications. A couple speeches and group speech and a final speech. Records you so you can evaluate yourself. Very easy class,easy B, kinda hard to recieve a be. I reccomend her!

Professor Butler is a great lady. I had her for oral comm. and i have to say that my professionalism went up. She wants the very best for her students and im glad I took this class. To keep it simple i reccomend this class, easy A.

I agree, she is a bit intimidating but it is all to make her students better presenters. Her class becomes easy once the student applies what is learned to the few speeches.

She is an intimidating lady she hates people texting in her class.Other than that i think she does care about her students.She is a fair grader and grades on a curve for the benefit of her students. She does not take attendance only the first few sessions but i would recommend attending class because her lectures are always on the readings.

This is a class related to COMM103 which is hard. CCS is much easier. Butler assigns five assignments (Info, Pers, Impro, Group, and Memory), no quizzes or other crap. Butler is a bit intimidating but makes her students better presenters while my professionalism went up. Grades are curved. Easy B+, highly recommend her. ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY.

She tries to act tuff at the beginning but she is not, the class is not that hard as long a you do your reading..Aah there is a 9pg essay due in the middle of the semester , but really is not that hard, is mainly like a summary of her lectures.

She is a very tough grader but she is veeery passionate about her students and she is always available to answer questions. Her lecture notes are kind of all over the place and she is not specific on what she wants you to study for tests. Tests are pretty easy if you do your reading. Attendance is tricky because she will randomly take attendance.

Easy class with a nice teacher. Her slides are easy to follow, but make sure to buy the books, because they're apart of her tests. She favors athletes and your grade is made up of two midterms and an essay. I didn?t always make it to class and passed with a B.

She is a very sweet teacher and loves to get close to her students if you talk to her. She reminises alot, this class is on a SUPER CURVE. its very easy to get a B or a C but extremely hard to get an A. Tests are hard and you need to read the book if you want As on the tests. if you dont read(i didnt)ou can pull off a B in class like me. shes kool

She is AMAZING!My favorite class so far!Yes,she seems intimidating at first but she's really awesome.She really does care.The class takes work&it's not an easy A but definitely worth it,I learned in that class not like others.1 long paper and 2 t/f multiple choice tests.I was 1 of 2 freshmen in the class w/upperclassmen&we passed so it's possible.

She is very kind and useful. At first I thought I was going to fail because I didnt do so well in two speeches. But I stepped up because she gave me one more try and aced the last two to save my score. Take her! shes more than a professor, shes like a friend and truly cares. By far the best class I have had!

GO TO CLASS! One 7 page paper and two HARD tests. I didn't pass and I studied by butt off.

I TOOK 141 AND 350 WITH PROFESSOR BUTLER. I LOVE HER PASSION AND HER CLASSES ARE VERY INTERESTING. CLASSES ARE MANDATORY AND HER TESTS ARE HARD BUT OBVIOUSLY YOU HAVE TO STUDY. I GOT A B+ AND AN A- FOR BOTH OF HER CLASSES.

Love Mrs. Butler! Kind woman, very engaging and tells great stories. Loves to connect and interact with students. You have to attend the lectures or you're screwed. Read the book and watch the videos!

Prof. Butler is one of the kindest professors ever. She loves to tell stories (which sometimes get her off track.) Very sweet and funny. However, she is a tough grader. She has very high standards/expectations. No one gets an A easily. I never thought I would struggle so much with giving speeches. AVOID SAYING "UM" - it irks her.

Professor Butler came out of retirement to teach my class, she's strict when it comes to etiquette and speeches, but overall is a very kind and wise person. All of the students in her class have such varied backgrounds, and she makes it a point to try and connect with you. If you are mature and show genuine interest to improve, you will be fine.
