Terrible prof. Doesn't explain anything, doesn't answer questions, is incapable of deviating from her notes and spends half the class saying how badly everyone is going to do. Maybe if she taught instead of trying to scare people we'd do better.

I have never had a worse teacher in my life. She is not helpful at all, doesn't respect her office hours, doesn't have an e-mail address, no number to reach her, doesn't show up for class without warning and the final is not at representative of the material covered in class. AVOID THIS TEACHER
it seemed to me that she did not respect students. late feedback for assignments and midterm, no reply to emails, cancelled a class a week before midterm and nobody knew if there was gonna be midterm. no passion for teaching
This teacher just gave us a final exam that consisted of 50% anova tables, something that is nowhere in the book or in her notes, nor in the material she told us to focus on for the exam - and she focused almost nothing on the classical assumptions and their violations. She is a poor excuse of a teacher, and you should avoid her like the plague...

she's not that bad of a teacher. her exams are tricky, so be careful. she's tough but at the end she bell curves the grades. I needed that for my GPA :)
I don't know this teacher too well. But, I did go to two classes of hers and realized she doesn't have the necessary skills to teach. She is AWEFUL! she has her stupid notes which she can't seem to get away from, and her explanations to students' questions aren't helpful at all. AVOID HER!! After 2 weeks I switched sections.
Terrible, at first i thought she was going to be good, but turns out she just keeps puting up notes that she already had and moves too fast for you to copy them anyways! She is terrible at teaching, she doesnt use the book at all just her notes, doesnt like people in pairs or groups for assignments.
I have no words to describe her. Probably the worst econ. teacher you'll ever have. I did not understand a thing about her class. I had to read the entire book in order to pass the exams. She's way too fast, way too full of herself, way too uninteresting.

Good person but terrible teacher. Teaching is definetely not her profession. Her old fashion projector notes are out of date and suggest she is lazy. I didn't even bother copying them because she moved to fast anyway. She doesn't give you a chance to listen or participate in class. Avoid her if you can.

She is ok. I took that course during Summer, so perhaps it's not an accurate indicator on her methods (though her abuse of transparencies is indeed leaning on laziness!). I guess she compensated previous results on the basis of a strong final. Unfortunately, I don't see how can someone make econometrics funny, although her little stories were nice.

she is a nice person, but as a teacher, only one word can describe her "terrible"!!!nothing she told us should focus is included in the final exam. If you want to pass exam, don't listen to her, just read the whole book. what she said is useless, even mislead you!!!

terrible teacher messed up the marks for my final and i tried to see her at her office 10 times she wasn't there once, had to complain to the head econ person, she took another month to finally boost my mark when she found out her made a big mistake never answer's email, u just can't contact her i got a A- from a C- cuz she messedup soo bad, dont
She's alright. she's fairly clear in class and i never had a problem with my grade.Just read the book and make sure you reveiw the notes.
Don't know... I liked her. Explanations are clear and relevant. If you listen carefully in the class and review the textbook, you can get an A+ easily.
She is amazing. For a Uni Level, she is very clear. I had taken her for econ 221 and its only once a week 6-8.. in those 2 hours, she gives at least 7 pages of notes.Its alot of notes however, if you read the book and go through her notes, you wil get A+ for a hard course like this...In m midterm, i got 99%..
She is wonderful and very understanding. She uses relevant examples to further explain the material. I would highly recommend taking one of her courses.

Bad teacher! Always arrived 10+ min late,her lectures were so rambling she was 2 chapters behind schedule so we had to teach ourselves in order to do the labs. Midterm was ok but she didn't prepare us for the final at all: she taught us chapters 1-10+12/13/14 when the course outline only said ch1-11+15 which screwed us for the final. NOT RECOMMENDE
Maria is a great professor, i found the topics she talked about in the lectures interesting but they don't necessarily come in the final exam. you guys still need to do a lot of past finals and most importantly understand the questions fully to pass with an A. don't expect reading the SOS booklet only will be enough.
Section G of this winter was behind schedule the whole semester (she says she was sick). be prepared to study on your own (as expected many proff ) In class, I found that she spends 20 min roughtly talking about actually material. Do a lot of past exams, its for your own good. I havent found going to study group to be useful when class is behind
beware of her rambling as she will go off topic and talk for 20+ minutes about one thing that will not prove helpful what so ever. get ready to teach yourself as you will always be at the least a chapter behind. Econ 201 is a simple class and she does no favours to clarify the subject. use sos booklet and past finals with the textbook not lecture
The one thing that I learned in ECON 203 from Maria is to never take her class. The mid term was crazy hard. She left ten min into the mid term leaving us helpless. From going off topic, to her outdated presentations, as a fresh new student, you do not want someone like her to ruin your first year GPA. I'll give you three words. Avoid, Avoid, Avoid
avoid her at all cost. her lecture is boring af, never answer her email, always late, give ur mark very late (more than 2 weeks). just don't take her.
Her lectures are useless and it's all over the place. The lab homework doesn't match what she is "teaching". It takes a lot of time to complete when she could of just teach properly, be organized and follow the textbook. ALSO, she goes soo FAST in class, she changes the paper/slide like a machine, especially when there is only 5 mins left. AVOID
I don't recommend taking her class. Her lectures weren't useful and I learned more by reading the textbook, the group classes and youtube. She uses a lot of hand written notes, so she won't be posting them on moodle. Also she goes through her notes too fast, so I had to take a lot of pictures.
I really struggled with the labs because she would always teach the material of the lab 1 week after the due date. The lectures are confusing, her algebra is complicated when it is very simple to do. Just go to the study group and crash courses or tutor if you need too. Good luck.

The teacher is not very organized. The teacher goes too fast with class notes. The teacher a majority of the time comes late. If your a person that learns with structure, I strongly recommend not to pick this teacher.
Overall she was an okay prof. Not amazing nor terrible. Lectures were boring though and you have to hurry to take notes but her notes are complete. I almost didn't use the textbook. Would take again.

Very confusing lecture, extremely difficult midterm (the common final was a lot easier than the midterm). 50 never seen before questions in 60 minutes. Sample exams completely unrelated to professor's midterm exam.
Econ 201 is really an easy class if you put some effort. I attended every lecture, and I actually found it interesting. She often gives a point of view that makes you think. Read the book and practice exercices and you can get at least an A-.

ECON201 is a boring class, but Maria Da Palma is a nice lady. Took her for many classes at Vanier college and now again at Concordia. Speak to her after class and at office hours so that she gets to know you. The rest is up to you to study, like any course in University you need to read the book and learn the material. She is a terrible teacher absolutely does not help her students one bit, during her classes she constantly drifts off to talk about irrelevant things. her teaching methods are garbage if you take her YOU WILL FAIL. Therefore i suggest you take another professor who will actually put in the effort instead of asking you to figure it out.
A pretty decent prof for such an easy course, her lectures are pretty interesting and fun but she usually tends to go off topic while teaching. Her midterms are easy and finals are very difficult. So, try to score maximum marks in the midterm:)
Same as econ201, her midterms are very easy, so try to score full marks in them. But unfortunately, the finals are very difficult. I believe attending her lecture is not important for this course, just attend as many study groups as you can. She's easily available outside the classroom and tries her best to help students and solve their doubts.
Honestly, I just dropped the class after one zoom meeting that seemed to be pre-recorded. She just talked and talked, didn't enable use of cameras or mics for student's. Did not address the student's once, didn't ask if we had a question. She did show pictures of broccoli and ask us what it was, then she talked about the earth and water. Weird.
Had her for Econ201 this semester. Attending zoom class is useless, she basically reads off notes posted on Moodle, so you learn nothing new. Doesn't explain concepts clearly. I was better off learning by myself by reading the textbook and attending study groups. Asked to review my midterm and grade breakdown by email and she doesn't reply back.

She was a good professor, but the only problem was that I slept during a few classes as she would talk about random personal life references that are irrelevant. She says she will get questions the next class but never actually gets them. I skipped the last whole month because the textbook and slides are honestly good enough for study.

Explains economics in a way that economists would understand it when she's doing an intro course. She also is lazy in providing students with the tools they need to succeed. She gave us practice questions for a midterm without the answer sheet and was too lazy to provide us with any alternatives. So we essentially had no practice to study.
Econ 203 is a self taught class. Going to lectures will not give you good grades. Read the chapters before class. Do the Labs in advance and enjoy a refresher when you are listening to lectures. Her lectures are enjoyable if you are prepared. You need a clear base of math. Exams are multiple choice. 2-3 hours of study x 5 days a week = Success
1 assignment per week worth 20% total only based on the book because lessons in class are worthless, get ready for hours to complete each for an A+, and hours of selflearning.Gaz prices are too expensive to attend a class that teaches you nothing, self-learning is your bff. DO NOT take her if you have ADHD or ADD or if it's your first semester!
you have to teach yourself which is a shame because its a difficult subject and she really isnt any help. i would never come out of her lectures feeling like wow that really helped me understand. so i stopped going. pick someone else if you can
Not only did she not post anything from the lectures to moodle, but choosing only to upload the bare minimum, and the graded homework was tedious and time-consuming.
Bad teacher ever. don't take her . The classe is very boring with her she don't know how to teach she's very fast. she don't post good content on moodle. the diapo that she post on moodle is not the same as the one she read during lecture she tells us to take picture so you will end up taking picture during the lecture and copy that after on a book
This is my first term. I got A+ in the other courses, and A- in this one which I spent tons of time on it. My assignments were always done by self-taught since she didn't finish the chapter as the course outline arranges. (no extension). Now I am doing 60 problems assignment for 2% score. Meanwhile, 70% of stuffs are fresh new. Red flag!!!!!!!!!!!
GREAT PROF! I wish I could have finished this class during the Fall 2022 semester, but I had a bit of a burnout because I was juggling a full-time and very demanding job while taking this course. It was a very heavy course load and I didn't want to settle for an average grade. Her lectures are great and enjoyable. I just wish I had more time.
Maria is a good professor . Even if the exams for this course are tough and required a lot prepartion , she will helps you a lot when she notices that you are taken the course seriously . Please , be prepared to read the book and do your homeworks in mylab to get a good grade for this course . Her slides are also very useful to review for the exam

Professor Da Palma is a good professor for Econ 201. She tends to go off topic a lot which I didn't mind because it kept the lecture interesting and light. Her lectures are very long and often monotone, I found myself falling asleep a lot. The 2nd midterm we had was horrible. Overall, she's a very friendly woman if she knows you.
By all means avoid this teacher at all costs! She is no where to be found to answer questions via mio.
The lectures were almost useless for me but I did go to all of them to reinforce my learning. Going through the textbook and the assignment questions is really all you need for this course especially since this prof is not the best at explaining concepts in class. Not an involved or enthusiastic prof, I'm not sure she even wanted to be teaching...
Really bad teacher. She teaches nothing that's relevant on the exams. If you have her for econ 203, don't even bother going to class because you'll waste your time. Better off teaching yourself.
Professor Da Palma is a kind person who will respond to emails in a reasonable timeframe, and also makes use of a projector to draw and illustrate concepts which could be useful if you're a visual person. Overall, I found it tough to stay engaged during lectures despite having an interest in economics.
If you're taking more than 2 classes, the workload for this course will hit you hard
ECON 201 and 203 are both very heavy classes, of course you will have to do some reading and learning on your own. However, I find that Maria does a great job of simplifying difficult concepts and making them easier to understand. She cares a lot, encourages participation, and will happily answer questions you might have about course content.
If you take this class get ready to teach yourself or get a tutor. Lectures are boring, monotone voice and no energy. Doesn't answer questions and the only time I asked a question she told me to go look through the course outline. Trust the reviews, just don't take this class with her, I should have listened to the reviews and dropped the class.
Horrible. Talks a lot. Poses questions without ever answering them, presumes everyone has prior knowledge despite the class being introductory. Reads off of slides, no elaborate explanation. The review session student had more teachings skills than her. If you are not absolutely passionate about econ and already have a good idea, it's over for you.
Her classes are super boring. At times I though it'd be better for me to stay at home and learn the materials on my own. Don't take a 3 hour class with the prof.

Skips over the slides way too fast (faster than you could take a picture). She is very interesting to listen to, but the structures of her presentations are not clear, so it's hard to keep track of where you are and what is important to note down. I started watching the online class lecture videos (you get access to them), which were a lot better.
She Never explained her slides and never shared them too. Was wayyy toooo fast with the slides and if you asked a question she wouldn't answer and just say figure it out with the textbook

she'll share slides on moodle for the lecture and then present a completely different slideshow, so the slides you have access to are completely useless. she skips over the slides way too fast and doesn't explain very well. be ready to learn on your own and solely rely on your textbook.
She doesn't know how to teach the only thing she does is read the slides without explaining anything simply reading and she old it just seems like she wants to get over with it and leave
Econ 201 is not that hard but she made me hate it in the beginning of course, better to do self study instead of going to her lectures. Don't take her class!
