Such an awesome teacher. She is very helpful and always there to help her students out. I enjoyed her class very much even though it was not easy she was alsys there to answer questions and help us. Definitely recommend her class you learn alot even if it is a lot of work on ur part.

Professor Fregoso was an awesome teacher!! I had her a couple semesters ago. She is fun and kept my attention throughout the semester. I would recommend her to anyone who likes to have fun while they learn. She's very hands on and knowledgeable.

She's cool...pretty easy and clear. Loves to use powerpoints... I got a B without really trying that hard.

I learnd alot about Latinos in America. This is the second class I take with her and she is my favorite professor by far. She gives you a study guide and offers extra credit. She's really smart and cool and cares about us.

Doesnt take late work, but come on people, its college you should be responsible by now. Overall, interesting class and I had fun.

Marite is great. She lets students express themselves, keep it respectful. 10 chances to turn in 4 reflection papers, good deal. Presentation at the end instead of a paper = Bonus points!!!!Tests are a little tricky and discussions cause class to get behind sometimes. Still a strong recommendation to take her. Great antropology class. She is smart, fun and has high energy. Writing is manageable but she won't take late work. Sucks,she takes attendance. But it doesn't matter becase I actually wanted to come to class! So great! Best class I took last semester the only problem is that she tends to move on fast. Take a lot of notes and read the book and stories and you'll be fine. Her quizzes are very detailed and almost familiar to each other you'll have to memorize also. Her study guides are not that helpful so just TAKE NOTES AND PAY ATTENTION.

Out of all the Professors at HWC I u haven't taken Carla Burnett you have to take Fregoso. Not only is she passionate about what she teaches its almost as if u are entering another world. I have taken her 4 anthro && his and I have no regrets. Either class utake with her is text heavy by if your committed its worth it. Love Her you won't regret It

Really great professor. She truly teaches in a way you just have to see to experience. You can tell she loves what she does. Do expect to read a lot of articles, especially since she bases pop quizzes off of those; however, overall if you pay attention, and do the assignments it's smooth sailing.

Probably one of the best profs I've ever had at CCC. I'm from Truman college, and she is totally worth the 1-hour ish trip on the El to HWC and the 3-hour lecture (twas a summer term) Her teaching style is awesome, she shares a lot of experiences for you to learn. Tests are based on notes and on the textbook. She's got a lively personality too!

I enjoyed taking two of her classes. Yes she's that good! Makes you want to take her other classes. Her lectures were fun. I loved her group projects!

Cultural Anthro w/ a Latin American & Latino Studies Emphasis Ms. Fregoso is beautiful, extremely passionate of this course, and very enlightening. I could have gotten an A had I owned the book, but besides that- Show up, listen, read, and you will do well. Expect an awesome group project at the end where you have to visit a Latino neighborhood!

All semester I stressed out while in this class. I thought I was going to fail because the test for her class matter the most, they are worth 200 points and the group project is worth 50 points. I loved this class and Mrs. Fregoso is an excellent teacher! She makes you get out of your comfort zone and work outside of class with her Ethnic Chicago Excursions. A very interesting and a happy positive teacher. Good at engaging the whole class. Topics discussed are part taboo, eye opening. Experienced in her field with excellent work ethics!

She is really down to earth, always connects the material to her personal life which makes class interesting and interactive. I enjoyed her class very much except that we had to do a group project that required out of class meetings. my only suggestion would be to allow class time for the field work, other than that read, study and pay attention :)

Literally my favorite professor, I very much enjoyed her class. Her lectures were interesting and interactive so it was definitely a lot of fun. She's a great teacher who is considerate and gives lots of extra credit.

She loves what shes doing. It is almost impossible to fail her class. Do well on the first two exams and you don't even have to take the final. Do the extra credit (good amount) and pass easily. Exams are really hard and her paper is not worth enough points. Best advise is... if you are a good test taker then take class if not run!

An amazing professor. She has amazing lectures and that you can sometimes relate to. She made me really enjoy learning anthropology. You do have to read before coming to class and she usually gives a quiz so i recommend that you do read. Her quizzes are fairly easy if you understand the text.

Maritè is the absolute BEST professor I have ever had. She inspired me to chooses major in Anthropology and it changed my life; she changed my life. Her lectures are brilliant and never makes a student feel "dumb" or left out. She has an incredibly caring personality and is very attentive. She is passionate, she knows what she expects from the students and the students are told EXACTLY what is expected of them. There is no reason for any student to get less than a B or C in her class. She's great but it's just the quizzes you have to watch out for. The quizzes are made up of material in the book that you can easily pass off as not important. It's not a quiz on if you read or not but more of a quiz on if you analyzed or not.

She's funny, loved the class! **DON'T SKIP CLASS** I missed two days and with just that I felt a little lost. The Bright Space assignments weren't ever too clear to me during class so check Brightspace every day to make it easier on yourself. I tried my best and still got a B I got all A's in my other classes she's a tough grader but cool.

Lectures are amazing & interesting! There are 3 tests but you have an option you take the last one. There are extra credit opportunities. A big group project is what you are mostly responsible for throughout the semester. You need the book to understand what the study guides for the tests means.

She is honestly the most amazing teacher Ive ever had. She thoroughly explains the material cause it is so interested and wants you to be interested. Make sure you read though because pop quizzes can happen. Her exam questions are not tricky if you READ. Dont use your cellphone either, she hates that. Pop quiz will happen if you use it.

Even though this class is pretty intensive and you have to work to get your grade, she is very forgiving by giving extra credit opportunities and dropping your lowest exam. Her lectures and study marterial are very informative. She also gives an study guide for each exam, and if you understand the concepts listed you'll easily pass.

In my three years of going to college, I've never had a professor care as much as Professor Fregoso. If you ever get the opportunity to take her class, you're lucky. She's not hard, she wants her students to actually learn and get something from the class. In the middle of a pandemic, her class is the only one I learned from. She was great!

Professor Fregoso is a solid instructor and has a clear passion for anthropology. However, the only graded items are papers, discussions, participation, and discussion boards. She uses an 800-page textbook, and there are sometimes 100+ pages of reading assigned in a given week. She emphasizes participation, but not everyone puts in the effort.

get ready to READ!!as long as you follow her (very clear) criteria, you should be fine for all assignments. she reads EVERYTHING you write, so no half ***-ing your work. Group podcast due at the end of semester. NO extensions on ANY assignments, but she offers xtra credit to make up for missing points. u need to be self disciplined for this course.

I took Professor Fregoso in the Fall of 2022, she was amazing, and we had weekly assignments and reading to do. Not too many quizzes were assigned to us. The midterm and finals were based on writing a paper in APA format on a certain topic through the lens of an anthropologist. One time she brought us treats for being a great class! Recommend it!!

Prof Fregoso is awesome, she is very caring and wants her students to succeed. She keeps her class interesting and interactive with other students as well. There is a decent amount of work but she is fair and works with you. Communicate with her, she is a super awesome person and educator. I hope to take her again.

Professor Fregoso is an amazing instructor who makes the course engaging and accessible. Plenty of extra credit and support to succeed. Unstuck ai was a great study tool alongside the textbook.

The professor is amazing and accessible. Plenty of Extra Credit. Very interesting class, there are some quizzes but nothing out of the usual. Plenty of reflections and discussions but very easy if you pay attention and participate. All I can say is that I wish I paid more attention.

Professor Fregoso is awesome. I would highly recommend taking a class with her. She gives a lot of extra credit, so if you fail the class, it's definitely on you. Very sad the semester is over, only because I enjoyed her class so much.

Professor Fregoso deeply cares about her students and their success. She always came in with a smile on her face and ready to help. I never found myself being interested in anthropology but that all changed after he class. PLEASE take her class, you won't regret it.

She is such an awesome teacher. Informative, engaging, compassionate & really gentle with students. She is my favorite & I am soooo gonna miss her!
