Good teacher but an overhead nazi, flies through material .
I can't figure out why I even took economics.
Destroyed any tolerance of Economics I ever had
Great teacher, too bad about the students
i feel asleep every class

HORRIBLE! switch if you can, too many graphs and overheads! OMG!
fast but the class is ok... goes through notes like water, luckily they r online
Very thorough and precise
good teacher - just make sure you have the notes first
get the overheads before class and if you got a q'n go right after class or else it piles up.. Chanting Ec120 mantras does not help on the exam.
She just makes it worse. Read your text book or go to a different section.
If you're in this class, get a very large printer with alot of ink ... also pray you can understand her boring and complicated thoughts on supply and demand.
Extermely boring. All she does is draw graphs upon graphs to explain any concept. And it's frustrating to watch her cocky walk after she gets the correct answer on the board.
boring lectures; too many notes
Honestly shes terrible. The easy solution is to go to another section and you will be fine.
She was terrible. Bad at explaining things. You're better off switched to another prof.
wow ...wat a bad prof. and did i mention she thru a table at one point!@ crazy lady...should be at a mental inst.
She was horrible. Way to fast and not understandable AT ALL!!!
avoid this prof she is bad by any standards she speaks way to fast and seems proud of it and she couldnt teach a fish to swim laurier should be ashamed to hire such crappy professors
She just isnt a good prof. She talks too fast and she threatens to go faster, she seems happy when ppl dont get it. She expects you to contribute to the lecture as much as she does, and I think she forgets that it is the students who pay for her to be there. Avoid her if you can.
Out of all the profs I've had a Laurier so far she's the worst. Don't bother buying the textbook (which she helped write, interesting), the class is all math-based and the text is not. She seems to think that questions take time away from her day, she's rude, arrogant and overall useless. Avoid her.
I thought she was great. Does every problem on the board; I always felt prepared for the exams. Don't know why everyone else doesn't like her.. plus, haven't you ever heard the joke about the one-armed economist?
Three words: WORST PROF EVER. Don't waste your time or your money.
talking Prof Gallego here, lol... have you seen her yell at another prof, his class and threw tables in front of 2 classes over the stupidest things? very unclear, rude, unprofessional and had no clue what she was saying in class...
The single reason I dropped this course. Honestly the worst prof I've ever had. Stay away at ALL COSTS.
one word: EEEEWWW!!!!!

horrible, just horrible
It's unfortunate. Gallego knows her stuff, but she goes way too damn fast and her voice is painfully boring. Most people skipped her class and attended Ziss' lectures instead.
Does this woman actually have an idea of what the needs of her students are? I think not.
Guhhhhh
This woman has not got a clue. She blames all of her students for her poor teaching ability. Also for fun take a look at her lack of academic ability in the form of her publications. She has two sub B class papers published in a 10 year career. How disappointing.
all she says is "I love Porche. but I can't afford one" OR when somebody's phone rings during the lectures "Salsa! I want Salsa!!!

Easy with the arm comments buddy, and i think that a teacher who has trouble with easy BEDMAS calculations, shouldnt' be teaching an extremely difficult course as economics.
Nice woman, horrible prof. I wish I learned a thing in her class.
She's a nice lady, apparently she transport crack (did anyone attend that lecture?) - Anyway, she talks too fast but she does know her stuff. I wish people would give her a break.
She is not a bad prof. people gave bad ratings mostly because the course is hard.
certainly not the best prof, i didnt have too much trouble because its prolly my best course, but compared to the other economics prof i had, not as good. she wanted me to switch my cell phone ring to salsa if it was going to be ringing in class... decent jokes to wake your mind at times, but not nearly enough for a 3 hour micro lecture
I like her as a person, I wouldn't even mind hanging out with her...But I don't like the way she teaches...and for some classes she goes overtime...Overall, not a good prof. Sorry.
She teaches well.
She sometimes confuses herself more than the students. She'll always say "I'll get back to it" when she can't answer a question, but never really does "go back to it". She's also a bit moody, and her jokes are so lame...
i was sort of interested in the class before i took it..but from the first day of her class i knew i was doomed. i mean come on i couldn't understand her..her slides are the worst. and she isn't helpful at all. she just shouldn't be teaching.
Horrible
Good at economics, but not so good at teaching. Tries hard though.
If we are to consider economics as a set of analytical tools, Gallego's developmental contribution to your "academic toolbox" would be a bottle of gin. She merely reads-aloud her lecture slides during class, and does not demonstrate to the class the steps or thought processes required to complete questions. Very frustrating and infuriating prof.
She's decent. her lectures always include colourful graphs, which are very helpful if you're a visual learner. her explanations were pretty clear
All i can say is good luck. As i currently procrastinate for the midterm she has written for us tomorrow, I can honestly tell you to get a tutor. The woman cannot teach.
All I can say is you're going to be going to class just for clicker marks. I believe she is a nice individual but you basically have to try and re-teach yourself through myeconlab and text book. Good luck!
She sucked. She would read a topic off a slide, then draw a graph on it. The graphs always seemed completely random to prove her point. I had to teach myself economics... I can't believe they pay her
poor teacher, hard to understand
As useless as her graphs
She honestly seems like a nice person but her graphs make no sense and she really needs to expand on her notes. She could really slow down her slides, thereby making it easier to understand.
Needs to learn english and stop attempting to teach in general.
a nice person. Terrible professor, draws graphs which relate to nothing most of the time. Although she has good tips for multiple choice, it doesn`t help too much when you don`t understand her lecture
her lectures are a waste of life. she draws like five million graphs that are all so unnecessary to solve problems. stuff she teaches, not that she teaches much, dont relate to the textbook. compared to the other sections which actually uses legit notes, her notes look retarded. and she cant spell. or do math.
She`s a hilarious prof, a bit unclear at times when teaching difficult concepts, but overall a decent prof. Certainly not the best, but definitely not the worst.
It doesn't really matter who your prof is for econ since you can learn all material from the text by yourself. You go to lectures for the clicker marks. Get a cheap source for colour printing cuz you HAVE to print out ALL her notes since she fills in the graphs in lectures. She's a pretty good lecturer, but you're better off learning it yourself.
If you are one minute late for lecture she will close the doors to the hall and harass you upon entering. This is fine for the students who don't have a class prior. But if one is in the Double Degree with Waterloo and given ten minutes to go from campus to campus it's impossible. Complained to Laurier regarding the harassment but was ignored.
Worst prof out there, arrogant and unapproachable.. hard to pay attention in her classes. Don't take a course with her if you don't have to.
Super nice.
Super nice prof
If you don't have to take a class taught by her then don't. I've never had a prof i've disliked as much as this one.
worst prof at WLU
Shows no respect to students. Only provides useless answers with tons of mistakes. Avoid her if you can take ECON401 in UW.
One of the best economics profs I've encountered at Laurier. She is thorough in her lectures and is always more than willing to help students out of class with assignments or course material. She is very approachable and one of the few profs who cares to get to know their students. Wish I would have taken 3rd year game theory with her as well!
I loved the class, it was a great class. I did the readings and followed along and did well on the first 2 midterms and had a B. Then came the final. Half the class failed, those that passed still did not do well, no bell curve at all, I ended up with a D. Beware....
If you put in the effort, you'll do well. Not a course you can teach yourself few days before the finals....
Amazing Prof and She is always nice to help those students who willing to learn.
Strict so make sure you attend lectures and take notes while you're there. Lots of typos. But she is very nice, lectures well and has fair exams. Has excellent review sessions. Overall underrated, definitely not 2.2.
I've loved pretty much every prof I've had at WLU, but i'm still so salty and amazed at how Laurier has continued to employ this sad excuse of a professor (oh wait did someone say tenure?)... I don't mind that she wants you to attend class... She's simply the most unapproachable, miserable professor i've ever had.
Maria is the professor you're not going to like. Her teaching is balderdash, her materials are littered w/ errors, and she's living in an autocracy. Tune out her prose. She will ridicule you - just smile. Just grind the HW out, and solve her models. It's micro: the content is actually useful.
Initially she comes off as super intimidating and unnecessarily strict. However, she had a librarian come in twice to let students give feedback, and her lectures improved substantially. She really cares about students. Take this class and you will learn alot and do well if you apply yourself. Tests are tough but fair, nothing unexpected.
worst prof ever. go f yourself
Honest Review: Course breakdown: 2 midterms, presentation, mandatory class (miss 6 and you fail the course), final exam. The midterms are similar to the practice assignments she gives, HOWEVER, she does not post any help on how to solve the assignments. In lecture she goes crazy if she catches you on phone/laptop. Her lecture slides are garbage!
Suuuper strict prof. Her syllabus is full of mistakes yet your paper can't make any mistake. I switched my session. Half of the classmates dropped her session actually. People would rather be on the waitlist for other sessions than taking her session.
The WORST professor I've had for the last 3 years here in wlu, you will get mentally tortured by her !!!! My advice is to drop her courses as early as possible to spare you the pain, RUN!!!!!! ITS NOT TOO LATE!!!
Hands down the worst educator Ive ever had since kindergarten. Her work is riddled with errors, but expects perfection from you, justifying it by saying shes preparing you for the workplace. Do not take her classes especially at the senior level if you have any postgraduate aspirations - youre better off deferring for a semester. Terrible prof.
Maria by first name offers extra cedit for certain things you can do. She sick as frick and great to party with. Big into weed nice with the men. Only downside is she a little to freaky, like i personally dont like to be spit on.
Workload is a bit heavier than other courses. A lot of details needed in exams, even though you get right answer if you miss some details you will lost a lot of marks. Do the practice assignments several times and you will get a good grade. And the prof is..not very bad as others said. Content is useful.
Despite its reputation for being an easily manageable course, the professor's teaching style turns it into a bewildering labyrinth. She exhibits a shocking disregard for her students' learning experience and delivers lectures that are nothing short of excruciating. Any hope of this course being a cakewalk is crushed by her ineptitude. Don't take it
Her exams are often too long for the time given and she requires you to replicate her slides perfectly for full marks. 80% of the course mark is just 2 tests and by the end of the course there were only 11 of us left in the class. I frankly have no clue how I managed an A in the class. Heed the warnings of other reviews and avoid this prof.
