A+ teacher. Her personality, teaching techniques, and her generosity make her an awesome person. Shes by far one of my favorite professors of all time.
Best teacher in the school
Nicest teacher at PBCC. Hands down. Always gives more homework than any other teacher at PBCC, as well. If you are planning on taking 5 classes with her class as one of them, think again. You will either not be able to handle it or your sleep/social life will seriously suffer. Wonderful lady though!
The only English teacher you'll ever want. Obviously you'll have to write and there is minimal reading, but she's the most lenient with essay grades and her tests are easy.
Extremely Intellectually repressive when it came to topic choices. Class was a multicult fest.(altho not entirely her fault its the course but i might add that another word for ENC1101 might've been multicultural indoctrination 101. Also handed in a paper which she considered too advanced and recieved a "C" for it.

Professor Garcia-Landry is an excellent english teacher!! She is the best english teacher I've ever had! Her teaching techniques are great and she prepares you well for the tests/quizzes. She is also very nice and will help anyone that doesn't understand something. I would highly recommend her to anyone!!!!

Not a bad class, but if you miss a test its bad. Shes also a mean woman that thinks shes better than anyone or anything. She lectures most in part upon her kid and her husband. I would like to know more about english than her family. I wish she would test me on that. Do not like her and do not recomend her.

If you love english, DO NOT take this teacher. You will learn nothing at all. SHe rambles on about her child and husband and can never seem to stay on topic. She grades you on WHO YOU ARE rather than how well you do on her assignments. Her grading makes no sense and she contradicts herself all the time. She can also be very moody.

Easy! You dont really read antyhing per se, but you learn ALOT about writing, grammar and papers. If you want to go into grad school, take garcia-landry because she will teach you very useful things about writing. I liked her

I LOVE HER, she is the best. she is so easy. she gives lots of essays, but it is so simple. she does not give tests, she gives quizes, and they are so simple. I highly encourage anyone to take her class. you will not reger it. Plus its and easyyyyyyyyyyyyy A!!!!
Professor Garcia is fun, and makes English prep an interesting class. The homework she gives is only easy book work or at times, summaries, and she actually is quite funny at times, this class is also recommended for those who are visual learners. She's almost like one of the students, and loves her husband and son.
Wow. She is a piece of work. If you know how to right well, you will be snickering the entire period while she explains to the class what a title of an essay is. She is EXTREMELY easy! IF you want to learn, don't take her. However, if you just need Comp 1 and want an easy A, then go for it. She is nice, but she constantly talks about her family.

Very charming personality and a fair professor. I felt the course material was below my skill level. There's a lot of writing, but it's easy writing. Garcia is human, she's not cold like some college professors. Likes class discussions. I enjoyed her class and it went by quickly. There's a lot of homework but it isn't hard.
She is very judgmental when it comes to who you are and how you dress. She talked about her son way too much! She got mad at me and marked me absent on purpose. When I asked her to change it she laughed and said "no". I become upset and said "Oh my Gosh!" She wrote me an email telling me to go to the Dean instead. She is very judgmental too.

I really like her; i just found her grading a little unfair, if she doesn't like it, its not good, very rarely will you get an A paper but she is a good human being and yes, likes to talk about her family a lot.
The content of her class is insanely easy and she will give plenty of time to complete assignments but her grading is ridiculous. She counts off points for the tiniest mistakes and sometimes just because she prefers *her* way of writing it. You WILL NOT get 100 on any essay. Some of her quiz questions can be ambiguous and hard to understand.
Prof. Garcia is an AMAZING teacher. I did so well in her class and learned so much. I took her for prep2 and i just signed up for her ENC1101 class. I highly reccomend her.

Most byist horrible teacher i have ever had. whatever she likes goes. you can have the best paper, but if she does not like it. your getting a C. She will not give you a reason why, and if you ask, her response will be "i just did not like it", i regret ever taking her class. I didn't realize how much I have learned from her class until I took ENC1102. She taught be so much & i feel more confident with my writing. She is adorbale & very caring professor. If you try your best you will do well. It was a pretty easy class.

This is the only teacher I have EVER had who has attempted to satisfy a question with the answer "because I said so." She also develops extreme unprovoked biases against students. She is relatively knowledgeable in the field of commas. She also laughably and regularly failed to answer basic questions saying she'd have to "reference her colleagues"

The comment below me is absolutely inaccurate; she is an amazing professor. She is extremely educated, especially for English being her second language. She is a bit strict with grading but it is beneficial and helps you in the long run. I highly reccommend taking her.

She is a lovely woman, in regards to personality. Unfortunately, I hardly learned a thing because the whole class consisted of her talking about herself; it was entirely anecdotal. I was paying $300.00 to learn English, not to hear about her son or how much she adores UM. She was appallingly scatter-brained as well. I learned nothing from her.
I took this class to learn the proper way to write English not listen to you go on about your family. It would seem that the bigger the words and more in-depth your sentences are the lower your grade goes. Anyone who bashes Mrs. Garcia-Landry on here is obviously really lazy and bitter; I had her class in the Spring of '07, and she was an absolute marvelous instructor. Until I took her class, I never enjoyed writing. There are plenty of writing assignments, but they are usually just creative writing. I would love to take her again!
If you're NOT her favorite forget about even passing. I was a favorite and all of a sudden she hated me. She shouldnt be teaching college level classes. Her grading method is messed up, everything I turned in ended up being 75 or 70s, when I know I am smarter than half the class. She also likes to pick on you or ignore you.
To each their own, I don't even go on this site, until after taking the classes. Everyone has their own opinion, which is fine! I'll say this: If you show up, do the homework and study, the little conversations Prof. Garcia has shouldn't bother you! She has mutual respect and treated everyone fairly. IT'S WHAT YOU MAKE OF IT!
She's great teacher.She respects evryone.The class i had her in was an hour and 45 min but i know more about her son, husband, and what she does in the week-ends more than i know about what i am suppose to learn. I had an enc 1101 class at the lake worth campus, but that professor was HORRIBLE, so i switched to Ms. Garcia at the PBG campus. I WAS SO GLAD THAT I DID! She is a great teacher, and she makes her classroom warm and welcoming to her students. She Improved my writing skills. It is true that she talks about her family 50% of the time in class.

Mrs. Garcia Landry is the best. She talks about her son, life, and makes the class interesting. If she has a good class, she will let you get away with a lot of things ;) I highly recommend her.
She is an average teacher. The whole entire course was a joke because it was so easy. There was only three homework assignments in the whole entire course. You could sleep and get an a in her class. Mandatory online portion so watch out.

She elaborates on things, so you don't get too confused. However, you do need to make sure your work is perfect before you turn it in.

Professor Garcia is super easy. She goes off on a tangent and tells you a lot of unnecessary personal information. Her grading is really easy, you can miss class and still pass with an A.
She is unorganized! Her syllabus isn't correct, so do go by that. If you ask for clarification on what the homework is, she will tell you the wrong thing. If you drive far to get to school, i recommend not taking her. She will cancel class last minute. Her teaching style is showing powerpoints with little to no xplanation.
Professor Maria Garcia-Landry was a very helpful professor. She was my professor for 3 years . She helped me a lot in spelling grammars. She is a very special person. She gives you pop quizzes and if you fail it the first time, she makes you take it the second time and gets the higher grade. I glad that I had her as a teacher.

Professor Garcia is very nice but isn't the best when it comes to time and organization. She cancelled class 4+ times without telling anyone. She does not follow the syllabus and likes to throw in extra assignments last minute. The papers aren't really that hard but the way she handles the time she has in the semester could be better.
Prof. Garcia is a nice lady, but she could have been more organized. I did not mind that she canceled class about five times, but she could have emailed us in advance to tell us she was not coming. She is hands down a tough grader and the feedback she gives on essays is not clear. So if writing is not your forte, PLEASE GO to the SLC lab.

Professor Garcia is very well rounded. I would advise anyone with a strong mind to take her. She can seem harsh but it's only for the good of your learning. She can say things that might make you think twice but she doesn't mean for it to be rude she only expects the best you're able to give. She was one of my favorite professors.

Horrible teacher do not take her
Worst teacher I've ever had. Very disrespectful to other students who she doesn't agree with. She loses papers ALL the time. When she hands back papers make sure you keep them, chances are she will forget to give you a grade. DO NOT TAKE HER. She also doesn't give a notice when class is canceled. She just leaves a note on the door.
This is the worst professsor EVER. whole time I had her class I wondered how in the world this lady became a professor. all you do is watch a movie, choose a character to write about all semester. she'll take off 10 pts for each punctuational error. she doesn't let you know when class is cancelled and if she doesnt like you it'll show in your grade
After reading the reviews I was skeptical about taking this course but Im glad I did , Shes a wonderful teacher and Im definitely taking her again next semester.

Professor Garcia is understanding, and sweet. She is fun to be around. She often misses class but she grades easy if you do the work. She also offers extra credit for every essay if you get it looked over in the BB building. She takes the time to get to know each student individually and accepts some late work if you have a valid reason.
She is a great professor, very funny and intelligent. She is a tough grader, but if you put enough effort in your essay, you will definitely got an A. Visiting SLC for grammar correction is mandatory if you don't want to lose points. English is my second language but i got an A easily. Definitely take her class again if i could.
She's okay, but if you do all your work and take advantage of the extra credit of going to the SLC to review your ROUGH DRAFT then you will be fine.

The worst professor I have ever taken. She's not clear on her grading criteria. The more she likes you, the better grades you get. Rough draft and final draft are always submitted at the same time so there is no way to improve your grades on 1 paper. She only focus to give feedback on grammar. Hardly learn anything from her class.
Overall good person but not a good professor. The class is easy but she is messy and disorganized which makes it harder than it needs to be. Says one thing one class but a different thing the next class. Rambles on instead of actually teaching. Misses class and doesn't send one email. Takes a month to grade one essay. No clear instruction.
If you're someone who needs someone to be clear and on task don't take her. I drove 45 mins twice a week for her to ramble on about what was going on in her life. At first I thought it would be an easy A, After classes went to online during Covid-19 there was no effort from her to be lenient towards grades. Does not understand a computer at all and has to tell you whats happening in her personal life. Prepare to only learn for 20 minutes out of the hour and a half class.
STAY AWAY!!!. She has no idea how to use a computer and she gives zero effort. She tries to snuff out any opinion that does not align with hers. Seventy percent of class was spent listening to her personal issues and her life story and then she gives out homework and ends class. She also failed me because she could not open my final.

Its hard to sum up this class in 350 words. Lectures are required, but entirely useless. Prof. Garcia seems to be in a constant state of confusion. Essays take up to a month to grade and one is a controversial political essay you have to present in class or fail. Why? Who knows. She has also yet to reply to a single one of my emails. Kind of lame.
