She's an pretty good teacher but the class is pretty hard if you don't attend the lecture. Attend class because she gives free attendance quizzes that WILL boost your grade. I got an 11 on the first test and still got a B in the class!

Great Professor, Really wants the students to learn, always is willing to help. She also replaces the lowest test grade and gives quizzes in Recetation. She also gives Free Attendance Quizzes for free points! Very good class. I learned alot!

She is an okay teacher, will take time to explain if you ask questions. Makes test easier than most, just study and hope you get a good TA. She is probably a lot easier than most, so I would recommend taking her. Tests are 10 questions each. Three tests and culmulative final.

She is a good teacher. Her TA, Mo, was also great. Only problem I have is that she is a hand-out teacher. All of the notes are already done in handout form which makes things confusing for me. Her tests are fair, and her attendence policy is also fair. Great teacher all-around.

Best math prof I have ever had!

She is an awesome teacher compaired to all the other professors (she speaks English)! Her tests are not very difficult if you studied at all (posts all old exams online). She gives review sessions before each exam and brings candy! She is generally concerned with how her students are doing and explains things very well.

The class is really hard and covers far too much material. Prof. Girardi is great at explaining which makes the class doable. She is very helpful and takes an interest in that we are learning the stuff. I highly recommend trying to get into her section, which seems to fill up early.

I think the subject is hard but Prof. Girardi explains well and hands out great summaries of ideas. Her exams are based on her homework so if you do the homework you should do well in the class. .

She is a really great teacher but a little crazy...thats what makes it fun! Look at her old exams because your exam will be just like it. Maple doesn't count a bunch in your grade so dont worry if you dont get it

I would definitely recommend taking her. She seems a little crazy, but it ends up making the class more interesting. Most of her tests are based directly off of homework problems or old tests. It is a fairly easy class if you just pay attention. Also, she learns names and really teaches on a personal level.

Girardi makes this class a lot of fun. Didn't really learn a lot from her though. Wants you to do well and the exams are extremely easy as long as you study the sections she assigns and the practice exam.

Dr. Girardi puts up all her lectures on her website and because of that we did not have to take notes often. Also she puts up her previous exams on the site. If you take her make sure to study from her previous exams. Our final exam this semester was exactly the same as last semesters. The only bad thing is that she has limited office hours.

TAKE 142 WITH GIRARDI. She's a great teacher. She breaks the material down so that it's easier to understand, colored chalk and everything. She's the only prof I haven't heard anything negative about, and after taking her, I understand why. I got a B in 141 and was easily able to get an A in this class.

Professor Girardi is the right amount of crazy and energetic to make calculus fun and interesting. This class is hard and you have to do the homework, but she explains everything very well and is fair with her quizzes and tests. I understood calculus better with her than I ever have before!

ATTENDENCE: Attendance is mandatory and tardiness is unacceptable! She will become very upset if you are even a minute late. No cell phones; she will confiscate. LECTURE: Scattered. She speaks German and likes if you can, too! GRADING: Assigns homework regularly. Has EXTREMELY well made study sheets. Tests and quizzes are straight from these.

Tons of quizzes, but she drops the lowest 20%. She doesn't keep grades online, but all tests and homework are returned after grading so you can keep track on your own. Calc 2 is incredibly difficult, but I highly recommend taking Girardi. She has past years exams online which are great for studying off of.

She's the sweetest and kindest woman. If you have the chance take her without hesitation. She is very helpful and cares about all the students and loves learning names. She has a page with previous exams which will ensure your A's in your exams.

I think she was one of the best professors I've ever had. Yes, she's eccentric and tacky, but she really does her best to help you understand Calculus. I would take her again, but Calculus II is probably one of the hardest courses in the department, so put the work in.

If you want to do well in Calc 2, Professor Girardi is definitely the way to go. She has all of her old exams online, but don't just memorize them - actually work through them and understand the answers, because on the exam she only includes a few of them. However, if you understand the homework and her past exams, you should do well.

Girardi is amazing. The class is hard, but that is because I had limited knowledge of proofs and methods. She goes through tons of examples and works hard to make sure the whole class understand the material. You have a good amount of homework, but it is necessary for understanding the material. She is always available to go over material. AWESOME.

Initially didn't like her teaching style, but as the class went on she really grew on me. Kinda scatterbrain with assigning tests but she's super caring and will give you a good grade if she can tell you get the material. Most people didn't do well but that was more bc the content (writing proofs WELL) and not her. Def gonna take her again for 554.

She is a great professor to take for calc 2. All of her past exams are on her website and I worked through those before every test and did well on all of them. There is a lot of homework, but that's expected for a math course. She focuses on theory so if you like examples hope you get a good TA and SI. She's a very awkward human being lol

Professor Girardi is quite the character. She can definitely be all over the place at times but if you pay attention and do the homework, you should be okay. She made it very clear what to expect on exams if you attended her review sessions (these helped a ton). Try to wait until she is done explaining something before you interrupt with a question

I do not know why she has so many bad reviews. She is such a nice lady. If you ask her for help, as long as you have been trying in the class she will be very nice and helpful. Just do your work and you will be fine. She is very understand and accessible.

Best teacher Ive ever had! If you dont take her you are probably daft and have already complained on this website. I only came to class drunk twice and still managed to get an A since I have taken pre-calc in high school unlike everyone commenting.

Girardi is character but she really grew on me by the end of the semester. She genuinely cares about each of her students and takes time to get to know you. She is very scatter brained yet she still gives really good lectures and is always willing to answer your question. Definitely would take her again.

I have taken her for Math 300 and Math 532 (geometry). Although she has high standards, she really cares that you learn and will go above and beyond to help you if you ask and treat her with respect. Although she can seem disorganized in class, her instruction is actually very good and clear if you pay attention and can get past her tiny tangents.

Professor Girardi is a little scattered, but overall a good professor. Goes very slow so lectures can be boring, but you won't be confused. There is a lot of homework but once you get the hang of it it'll go by quickly. Easy material but she expects you to know it before you go into class.

The first time I took her class, I struggled but that was because I never asked her for help until after my first exam. I dropped the class and retook the class next semester and did really well! She also improved her class that second semester by making it a lot less complicated for websites and resources.

Make sure you know your definitions/formulas, you will be tested on your ability to memorize and understand the formulas for each math problem. Attendance is mandatory!!!

While her teaching style can be a bit strange, she is a caring and great teacher. She has her quirks, but she provides her students with a plethora of online resources and takes a lot of time to organize individual sessions with those who may need more work. Her grading policy is fair and I left the class with a love of math I didn't have before.

Dr. Girardi is very sweet. She is also very definition heavy, but if you know how to do it, you know the definitions. She sometimes gives pop quizzes but this is only her taking attendance. There is a lot of content and honestly the homework does a better job of explaining it than she does. She also walks you through exam questions to help you out

I LOVE MARIA GIRARDI! she's literally my goat. while lectures can be a little long and overwhelming, she is so approachable and likeable. Grades a little harsh, but really not that bad. Made Analysis so accessible and likeable. I love her, especially as a woman in math.

Incredible woman! The most caring and genuine lecturer I have ever had by a long shot. She really cares for all her students which goes such a long way. Also makes pretty easy and simple tests aswell.
