Prof is really nice, but class sux. Regardless of teacher. Capsim is a complete waste of time and money. Cases read during semester are interesting! Write lots of papers and essay tests. Not difficult, but attend class to be familiar with information. Textbook is great! Lots of good information!! Time consuming class.
She is a fun teacher. Class is pretty easy as long as you read the textbook. Test questions come straight from the book. Sometimes hard to understand because she talks fast. She is super nice and works with you if you need to bring your grade up. I highly recommend her.
You just can not understand what she is talking about. Class is boring but she IS nice, class sux...
Alot of work. Teacher wastes too much time and expects you to spend 95% of your time on this class. It's very hard to understand her at times due to her accent.
Good professor. Friendly and enthusiastic. She has a somewhat thick Austrian accent, but is very good-humored about it. Attend for easy group points (short quick assignments). Try to at least read the next chapter's vocabulary for (two) quizzes. Tests are 90% vocabulary based. Teaches off PowerPoint. Know the terms and it's easy.
We asked for a review and it was an 8-10 pg. outline. The material she discovered were more like discussion which didn't prepare you for the exams. I will admit towards the end of the semester she was more helpful. Very hard exams!!!
She talks fast sometimes & she knows so she is working on that. Some said her tests are hard, but it is NOT if you study and you know the material!!! that's what students are supposed to do anyway, right?!? + we have 1page note during the exam! I really like her and I really loved her groups activities and would take more classes with her.
She is "nice" but she can NOT teach. Easily distracted and extremely disorganized. Talks fast and if you can understand the thick Austrian accent, you will realize she rambles on about irrelevant topics and gives incorrect information. Chooses class favorites and bends the rules for them but doesn't grade others fairly. AVOID HER FOR AT ALL COSTS!
Extremely unorganized lectures. The workload was unbearable. There is literally something due every class period. She is the only professor that requires you to do this pointless simulation called Capstone. It takes you a lot of time to do it and then you have to get with a group and write a long essay about it(pointless). Avoid her at all costs!
You would think a professor teaching strategic management would be able to come up with a strategy to manage herself, but NO. She is unorganized, loses papers you turn into her and refuses to give you credit, goes on & on about useless junk & you will have an endless amount of assignments. unfair, uneducated & sounds like big bird from Sesame st.
Best professor I have had at UTD, her classes involve the class and I actually enjoyed being in her class. She offers a ton of extra credit. I got a 103 out of 100 in the course total, and I'm a slacker! I would recommend her to anyone needing to take OB or Strategic Management.
Talks very fast with strong accent, you barely understand what she mean... Tons of homework and print a lot useless stuff. Using the Capstone with no clear instruction... Better study ur selfe than take with her. RUN RUN RUN !!!
She is very passionate about strategic management and shows a clear commitment to her student's learning. Although there are many written assignments, none of them are overly difficult. Exams are based primarily on in class activities and case papers. The simulation is easy if you practice regularly throughout the semester. Very good professor
She has an accent, which makes it difficult to understand plus she speaks very fast. The written assignments are not all clear, one group project, and exams are easy A's if you somewhat read the chptrs.
Has no time management skills. Disregards those that disagree with her. Lets students derail the class with inane irrelevant comments. Doesn't so much speak as yell. Assignment details are cryptic at best. Overall: Not quite the worst professor I've had, but really close.
There is no clarity as to what is supposed to be done in this class. She assigned long group assignments and it was almost impossible to meet the deadline, she knew that also and had to keep changing dates. She would forget when she changed the dates. Its really hard to make an A (that shouldn't be the case with this). It was extremely demanding.
True that she lacks clarity in assignments, but does that on purpose to foster creativity. Very nice and upbeat professor who is passionate about teaching. Gets off topic quite often but some of her tangents are pretty amusing. She is understanding& accommodating, gives extra credit,&admits when she makes mistakes. Tests pretty easy, a few essays
Great professor! very funny and helpful, she has a couple of group assignments, 2 exams, and a couple of short papers, overall very easy and fuN!
Very energetic and funny professor. Had an 8:30 class yet she still managed to get the class involved and discussing. You have to write a few papers.. I think 2. There's 3 tests and no final. She only takes grades on the best 2 tests so it's easy to get an A. Likes if you speak up in class. One time she even brought cookies!
What a great professor. She really cares about the students opinions. If you take the time to go to her office hours and have her read over your papers she will give you full credit. The more you speak in class, the more she likes you, the more participation points you get.
The class consists of attendance points, participation points (2-4pt pop quizes over required readings), 3 exams, 2 short papers, and 1 semester long group project/presentation. If you attend class and do the group work in a timely matter, the class is a breeze! She makes practice exams that has over 50% exact questions on the exam. Satisfied.
Easy A but if you want to learn it is best to avoid her. I came to UTD to get an education not to inflate my GPA or hear a prof. tear down other profs because of their religion or skin color. Best to look elsewhere.
Attendance is mandatory and participation grade weighs heavily. She is a very enthusiastic teacher, but can ramble a bit at times. You need to read the chapters to do well, because you will not get all of the information you need from the slides. Overall, this was an easy course and she grades fairlys
attendance compulsory, she is vague in order to avoid "boxing" you with ideas and would rather you use your imagination. Very kind, entertaining, and enthusiastic about OB. Read the textbook before going to class and for exams. review is very similar to exam and tends to curve exam by 4 questions. EASY A if you take the time to read over the book
Like almost everyone here at UTD she has a strong accent but once you get use to it, it wont be a bother. She is super nice and her class is no pressure. Provide test reviews that are really helpful. I made an A+ and so can you!
her test are tough
Great
Straight A
Enjoyed class. She came prepared and was interesting.
She doesn't seem to care much about students and is tough to find in her office. She does sometimes respond via email. Easy A without learning but I came to UTD to learn so that I can earn more.
There's a fair amount of reading, but nothing beyond what's expected at this point in college. This class is VERY easy if you just read the chapter before class. There are several projects, but no quizzes or tests. She does check attendance, and participation is 25% of the grade.
She has several large projects in her class. I really enjoyed the projects because I had a really good team that came together and worked really hard. She gives a lot of feed back and loves class participation to make the lectures more fun. if you participate and read the chapters the tests are not that tough.
Maria is a nice lady .The total participation grade (20 maximum) is made up of 4 1-minute papers (88) and 7(1414) attendance days selected . Each is worth up to 2 points. Drops one RBSE writing quiz she is picky to the core she usually gives zeros . No notes or book required .20222020 total. ideal org 25 picky fail.27 test drop 1.
She's amazing. Replies to emails within no time and is very clear.
Reply's to mails after deadlines, Once she doesn't like your submissions, she will never like what you submit again, The most boring lectures, Easy to fail.
Changes deadlines a lot and does not give clear instructions about assignments. Gives bad feedback. For the Ideal Organization Project, she did not approve of what my group did, but approved of a lot of points that other people had that were similar to ours. Boring and long class. Don't take her if you want to do well and actually learn something.
She doesn't make a lot of sense, she has the ability to drone on and talk about nothing. She doesn't put any grades up until late so you really don't know how you're doing in the class. Lowest test dropped, highest test score doubled. 3 tests in total, and a couple projects. She isn't clear about what she wants.
Very easy class. Just show up and read the book. Attendance/participation is worth 22% of the grade. 3 exams, very easy. She drops the lowest and doubles the highest. Group projects are easy too. She's quite boring and unclear. Not specific about what she wants on the projects. Liked the class, but not her. Your boredom is worth an easy A!
This is an enjoyable class where being there and doing the reading will get you decent grades. Lots of ways to apply what we are learning and interesting content. NO TESTS! We have several short essays and a group paper as well as a personal assessment. Highly recommended if you want to learn, not memorize for exams.
There's not much homework in this class, if you do everything and it showed you put effort into it, you'll get an A. Lectures can be a bit boring, but besides that it's a great class.
Very friendly, easy A+ if you go to class and do the many very easy assignments. Very sweet lady who really cares about her students. No exams, a couple group projects and a paper.
Maria really wants her students to do well and actually take the concepts taught in class and apply it to your career/life going forward. She does go off on a tangent at times, but as long as you do the assignments (which are mostly completion-based, unless you totally miss the point), you'll do well. Participate in class discussions and contribute
Lectures are more of a dialogue than regurgitating content from the book. There are weekly online quizzes, 2 group projects, and one individual project (no exams). Professor is very engaging and very lenient on deadlines. As long as you put effort into the projects and participate in class, it should be an enjoyable class.
She is very understanding and gives her students more time on assignments
No tests, lots of assignments. Work outside of class was easy but time-consuming. The professor is a fair grader, and she is sometimes flexible with deadlines. I recommend asking her any questions you have regarding assignments because sometimes her instructions differ from those on the syllabus.
It's obvious that she really cares about her students and wants us all to do well. I enjoy her teaching style; her lectures are not as much lectures as they are an open conversation. Participation is very important to her. The tests and homework were very easy, and you even get a sheet with notes to have during the exams.
Maria's class was interactive, she gives alot of homework and quizzes. She keeps changing the deadlines so it was difficult to keep a track of it. She can go off on a tangent sometimes during class and is very slow with the grading. Doesn't give regular feedback about your work and is very unclear about what she expects from the assignment.
Ever wanted a professor who is understanding and teaches the subject so that you don't feel the burden? Well she is one of the most understanding professors. Her passion for the subject makes you interested in the subject too. You will learn only if you participate in class. Her teaching methods are really adaptive and is very open to feedback.
Great professor, but gives a lot of work. Be prepared to read, write and participate. No easy A's here, but definitely do-able. You can't think this is a "throw-away" class or you will get behind. Keep up with the work and keep open dialogue with her (she works with you and is very flexible).
Participation matters, which means attendance is mandatory. She takes attendance v seriously so show up! Her class is lengthy and boring but not difficult to pass. She talks WAY TOO MUCH and goes off topic WAY TOO MUCH but it's an easy A if you do the work.
Worst professor I have seen throughout out my master's at UTD doesn't have any idea on what she teaches and extremely unorganized take this course if you just don't like lo lead a better life
Worst professor among all I have seen till date not for being a tough grader you could never learn single thing from her class. Extremely unorganized
If i was given a chance to change one thing at UTD my answer would be no more OB classes by Maria. The worst professor you could ever imagine spends entire class time to test on things that she never taught.
The worst professor I have ever seen throughout my student life. Not clear on what she teaches and what she expects from students. Don't screwup your life avoid this professor for a peaceful life.
Worst professor at UTD. She needs to take a course of Organization behavior herself first. Very unorganized and unstructured. No feedback what's so ever. Doesn't grade on time. Coursework is way too much. Her grading scale is pathetic, there is A, B and C directly no interim grades. Wouldn't recommend anyone to take her course ever.
The worst teacher at UTD, she needs to take good organizational behaviour lessons from a good teacher. No idea what she is doing, very rigid won't listen to you even if you are right. She has no reasoning ability, just abuses her power because she can. Her grading is a joke A B C, no other grades if you are rich just donate that money, don't take it
Don't ever take this professor unless you hate yourself and think you deserve some punishment.
Never again
Contrary to the reviews below, I think this class was an easy A with some work having to be put in by the students (quizzes were easy, no tests). She is extremely disorganized, but cares about her students. I won't take her again, but the disgruntled reviews seem to be reactionary. Easy A with some effort having to be put forth.
This class and professor are a waste of time but unfortunately it is a required course. There is nothing of value for a graduate level student. In fact this class at most should be a freshman level undergraduate course. Lots of busy work not graded for value, but for completion only. The amount of busy work takes time from other classes of value.
I am currently enrolled taking this class and I would not recommend it. The subject is not hard but it is SO SO time consuming. Nonetheless professor Hasenhuttl is responsive and very nice. I can tell that she cares about her students. BUT I've never had a class that is this time consuming, I would avoid it if you do not have time.
I don't think I've done so much busy work since I was in grade school. Minimum 4 to 5 hours of homework per week just for this class. You will spend hours doing tedious assignments, homework, and case studies. The benefit to work load is very imbalanced but what can you expect from an HR class.
There are A LOT of homework/busy work. But she is a great teacher. She is very flexible, if you ever have an issue and you communicate with her she will understand and do what she can to fix it. Exams weren't terrible as you were able to use your notes. As long as you put in the work, this class is an easy A.
She is very sweet and cares a lot about her students. This is my second class I took with her and I do not regret it. This class does have a lot of busy work though, so be prepared for that. The work is super easy but just time consuming. Overall, easy A!
The material isn't hard, but don't expect it to be an easy A because there is so much redundant busy work! I spent as much time on this course as I did my in-depth technical courses. The posted lectures were fine and she allows for open note (not open book) exams, but it was hard to enjoy the material since I had to fly through assignments.
This professor is the only one I had who actually cared about their students during covid. She was flexible, open to feedback, and overall a very genuine person. She treats you like a person, and maybe that's because she knows how to work with people lol. Yes lots of busy work, but it's easy and has room for dropped grades. Highly recommend!
Currently in the class, and it's ridiculous. The bare minimum for one week consists of 3 posts in a discussion board, a tedious quiz on Connect, and a survey. Then you have the RBSE essay, which costs you $15 for one month for you to inconvenience at least 15 people to write about you. On top of that you have tests. I seriously wish I was joking.
I like the professor, but class is useless. Unfortunately, it is a requirement for business majors. Material is intuitive. - i.e. you should already know all of it. More like an undergrad freshman class with a lot of silly assignments. Thankful I don't have to take another OB course in my lifetime.
This is the best professor Ive ever had, she clearly cares about the material she teaches and does whatever she can to help students learn. Once you have some experience working youll realize how valuable the material taught really is. Great projects, particularly the RBSE.
This class has so much homework. Reading the textbook is mandatory and is graded because it's an online book. She also assigns textbook exercises, other mandatory readings and these group case memos every week. There are also two projects you'll need to complete and three tests. Class is not hard, but there is a lot of work to do for it.
You have to write at least 2 long papers. This class is busy work. It is very easy but only if you are willing to put in a lot of work especially outside of class. Class could have been easily online but she makes it in person and takes mandatory attendance that is part of grade. To get an A in this class requires at least 6-8 hours outside of clas
She does care about students and wants them to do well. That said, the structure of the class is disorganized and there is too much non-value add homework. The class could be much improved if the homework was re-focused and the syllabus was given a thorough reset. The subject matter is useful, but the way the class was structured was chaotic.
Lots of homework and paper. But the professor is definitely passionate about her subject and makes you feel inspired to grow your career. So while there is certainly a lot of work, I don't feel like it is time wasted because I also learned a lot.
I would not recommend this professor. Highly disorganized class. A ton of homework which does not relate to the class. Also this professor is not able to do anything online, all her work is very traditional.
Worst professor in the history of UTD. There are so many deserving professors in the field of OB (to replace this prof.)and even the course curriculum is good, but this professor makes it a joke !
A clear 'NO'. Take her regret it later.
Her teaching style is substandard and not up to the mark. She is highly negligent in terms of her work. This course should be given to a "BETTER" professor !
Would not take her again for any of her classes in the foreseeable future.
From reading feedback from other students it seems she has taken advice to heart. She can get disorganized, but material is delivered through Connect and gives you the tools to succeed. She cares about her students and gives you tools relevant in real world management. 3 exams, and rest of grade is completion based assignments.
Class is unorganized but prof doesn't seem to care. She talked about how she was able to get some publications with another professor without putting in any real work. She collects her paycheck and doesn't show bias or play favorites with any students. Easy class but I didn't learn anything other than that I wouldn't want to take her again.
I am sorry if you have to take her. Unorganized and I personally didn't learn much other than that she doesn't seem to think much of Mike Peng.
Generally not organized but doesn't care any more. She assigns the classes and you can't avoid her. She doesn't think much of research and from what I can tell I learned more from Dr. Dess about OB than I learned from Maria. She wants her paycheck and that is it. Don't expect to learn
Quizzes every week of literally 140 questions. No productive lectures. most of the students didn't feel like attending the class. sloppy teaching techniques. waste of time and recourses. didn't learn anything from her class, wish I had taken a different professor.
The worst professor at UTD. Forces to buy $100 worth of useless assignments material out of which she probably gets a big cut. Very disorganised and has put in a lot assignments without any intention of teaching the course. Never available during office hours. Waste of money!
Professor H. is one of my favorite professors at JSOM. She is very kind and passionate about her class. I cannot recommend this class enough! If you want to learn how to make positive change in organizations, get promoted faster, and ultimately make more money, this class is for you. Very easy grader, lots of meaningful readings
She doesnt know how to teach, she is super unorganized, she makes a simple class difficult, theres a TON of homework. Her grading criteria is so ridiculous if you dont answer and think with how she wants she will dock points. Its an easy class given by a bad professor, get ready for alot of headaches if you take her.
I truly enjoyed this course and the way the professor delivered the material. I was not looking forward to the group project required within the course, but ended up having a great time! The professor is really engaging and answers correspondence in a timely manner.
The lectures are a bit disorganized, but she is happy to teach, and you do learn in class(though the homework felt more like a completion grade than learning).
Professor gives a lot of homework. In Group homework one group person's lack of involvement will cost us a low grade. She gave lots of assignments and RBSE paper submissions even during finals. Also, you guys will be paying extra 150 dollars for the Book and RBSE. So if someone wants to pay extra and have a painful semester please choose her.
I do not recommend her. Please DON'T take her. lots of papers and homework, even during finals. She's ruthless when it comes to grading. With all the academic hurdles you are going through, you don't deserve her.
Must buy connect access and read additional articles. Must write discussion posts and I kid you not, she requires you to submit 3 posts every week and to post on at least 2 different days for participation. She assigns "team facilitation" where students teach a whole unit. Can't believe I paid to have the students teach me the material lol. Avoid.
The class was very disorganized. I was really looking forward to this class but was severely disappointed that we didn't go over topics in class. Instead, much of the learning was on the individual and class discussions quickly turned to off topic subjects (upcoming projects the instructor has or is involved in, artificial intelligence, etc.).
She reads off the powerpoints. I had to do a lot of reading on my own. Connect reading/quizzes every week. 2 exams, 2 papers. Exams are a mix of connect quizzes and random articles. Her first time trying the new group project & it showed. My group barely put an effort in, and I put that in my group feedback form that affects their grade.
I can't imagine what all the criticism is about; she was great. She adjusted several deadlines (to give more time) when students expressed difficulty or confusion. She went out of her way to adjust grades favorably when it was clear her instructions may not have been understood. I wish we had more reflective assignments and less group projects.
She was disorganized and often assumed that everyone understood the rules, even though they were not clearly communicated. Additionally, she appeared emotionally unpredictable at times, which made it challenging to engage with her effectively.
She was a nice professor. It was a decent class with interesting concepts. However, I was not a fan of the group project. Myself and one other team member had to constantly take the lead leading up to submission, despite the group having multiple members. That was distracting and stressful. I do not think you can take notes to the exams.
