She will provide you with study guides b4 the tests (3), and if you come to class and take notes and study you will pass and I didnt even buy the book; thats how good her lecture notes are, and you dont have to take the final if you did well on the test.

Maria is an excellent educator. She is clear in her class, and provides notes while lecturing. Tests are challenging IF you do not read the text REGULARLY. The assignments are basically easy, and there's only 2. I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to READ THE BOOK! I got a much lower grade than I am capable of because I put it off!!

I took her for a 3 week course in the summer and we went over everything like a full semester... I never missed a day, and I did good on the exam... I was 2 points away from an A-, and yes you guessed it she gave me a B+.. Yes I am bitter my first B+ in Psychology I have all A's. the only ones with an A or the ones who failed her in the spring....

Like the previous user, I had a B+ before the last exam. i took the final exam and ended up with an A- as my final grade. Go to her after each exam and review your grades. She asks the same questions on the final exam. If you don't go to class she makes the test even harder and from the book. You only need 3/4 exams and can drop the lowest one.

When I first took this teacher I didn't do well at all, so I took her in the summer 07, and didn't do well again. So tried one moer time and could not believe it myself. Yes I finally passed her class because I went to class, read the material, and importantly I studied hard. I truly reccomend this teacher.

Professor Hurtado takes random attendance, offers extra credit and is helpful. Her lectures are clear however she will ask you ques directly from the book so read it. Her test are hard. The thing I like most about her is that she grades and post your grades quickly like the same day. I got a B-. I'd definately take her again.

Prof Hurtado is awesome! She is very clear on her expectations. You have to take good notes. She goes fast but is still very clear. Very nice and very approachable. The subject is interesting. She provides lots of examples. Attendance is taken randomly. There are 25 ?'s per exam, 4 in total, but if you do well in the first three the final is not required. One 5-7pg essay. She has passion for the subject and is very knowledgeable. Anyone can do well in this class as long as you study and are determined.

This class i just took it during winter so it was very fast paced (the fastest class i have ever taken) yet she made it seem easy and manageable.. Although this class consisted 99% of the time of her just lecturing, you learn a lot. The information is interesting & it's everything you need to know for the tests (I didn't open the book once). Mandatory attendance & there is a total of 3 tests (all multiple choice) and a final that is not mandatory unless you feel you need more points. TAKE HER

I found lectures in this class less organized than the ones she gave in 350 but the subject was pretty straight forward. Follow the study guides and go to class attendance points were what hurt my final grade.

In her class, I understood what it meant to love what you do and don't worry about the money you earn from it, With her passion she loves teaching she teaches out of experience, Child psychology is her field too. I will take her again for another class.

Pretty easy class everything is straight forward. She post all the notes and assignments at the beginning of the semester. Before the midterm exam she lets you go to her on campus class to review over the syllabus. Its really helpful so I recommend you go, she literally goes over each question and explains each answer in detail.

Hurtado is a nice professor. I can see the passion she has for her subject. Says she takes attendance randomly but it feels like is everyday, honestly. So, might as well go to class. I just wished she gave extra credit because if you fail one quiz, she will drop it, but fail two and you might be in danger. Other than that, she is good.

Wonderful professor! Grade is based on 3 exams & attendance. If you are pleased with your grade after the 3 exams, then you don't have to take the final. I didn't read, but I made thorough flashcards for each exam based on the study guide. Exams are applied, so you need to attend the lectures to hear the examples. Exams are 30 questions each.

The online class was pretty straightforward. There were a lot of discussion posts, an essay and a lot of reading, but her chapter outlines were very helpful as well. This class was super interesting. Her lectures were detailed and interesting and shes not an extremely hard grader. We had a paper due and I got a perfect score. Her exams are straightforward and shes just a pleasant professor all around. Id definitely recommend her.

This class was interesting and the book was enjoyable. 2 discussion posts/week, 1 research paper that needs to be perfect APA style, 3 exams (25 questions), 2 quizzes (5 questions) with two attempts, and 3 study guides. She gives you all the info you will need to be successful in her class. Also, no extra credit and she does not round-up grades.

Dr. Hurtado-Ortiz's online class consists of weekly discussions and readings. About every four weeks there is one exam, one quiz, and one study guide due. In total, there are three exams, three quizzes, and three study guides. You can definitely finish this class earlier if you wanted to. There is no extra credit and no late work.

The professor was very nice. This class is a lot of work but it is very interesting. (Took it over the winter course) If you want a good grade in her class you need to put in the work! Weekly discussions, 3 quizzes, and 3 exams. If youre in a budget Id recommend getting the previous edition for the textbook, works just as well. Good luck! :)

This was definitely not a difficult class per say but it was thought provoking. Every week 3 discussions post are due but honestly if you follow her feedback you will get all 3 points, you might even get lucky and get an extra point. *This is a really great course and prof. The work is routine, same thing every week which makes it easy to complete and get used to. Class consists of Discussion Boards, Study Guides, and quizzes which are all fairly easy as the answers are obvi located in the coursebook. The book is needed to complete assignments. It was mostly weekly discussion posts, mandatory study guides (but trust me, they actually help on the exams), and 3 Exams. The weekly discussion posts make you read the book or listen to her recorded lectures. She was very kind and although I did not take advantage of her office hours, I get the vibe she is more than willing to help you out.

Professor Hurtado-Ruiz is a great person. She is very organized on Blackboard. The weekly homework are short discussion boards. There 3 exams which are timed but there are only about 25 to 40 questions, before the exams you must complete a short quiz and the study guide assignment is optional. I suggest to take good notes. No papers.

I appreciated her organization. Her tests are a bit challenging but if you do all of the reading and review while doing her study guides you will be fine. If you try and stay engaged and on top of assignments you will pass her classes.

She has been a great professor I also took Psych 151 with her in summer. Very straight forward, she posts everything for the whole semester on the first day so you can go ahead if you want. 3 quizzes, 3 exams, 3 study guides, and discussions for each chapter. Exams are not difficult if you pay attention to the lecture videos.

I took this professor online and she was amazing. The only way you can fail her class is only if you don't do your work. This class is manageable so make sure that your time management is on point. Given that I commute and work full time and do full time school, time management is key. Take this class if you can. I highly recommend it.

I had her for two different classes with her during the same semester! she does assign weekly discussions so please complete them, if turned in early she lets you resubmit for better grade. follow her grade criteria for discussions. Follow her example and turn everything in , no way to fail the class unless you just dont turn anything in.

I had previously taken a course with professor Hurtado, so once I saw her teaching this course I chose her immediately. She is an amazing professor who truly cares and wants you to succeed. There was a discussion due every Friday and a study guide, quiz and exam due every month. Highly recommend her.

Professor Hurtado-Ortiz was the best professor she would give me straight forward feedback and this class you need to actively participating through discussions but you don't have to agree/disagree with other students in the discussions post.

I'm taking her online class, I think it isn't too difficult. I will say that sometimes she can be rude when she comments on your discussion post submissions.

I took PSY351 as well this semester; both were asynchronous and self-paced (every assignment had its own due date, but you can finish the assignments early). Dr. Hurtado-Ortiz is straightforward with each assignment instructions; the syllabus is essential to keeping up with the readings and assignments.
