Dr. Korolev is a very helpful professor who always tries to answer your questions. She puts 1-2 practice problems on her slides every lecture so you can make sure you know the material. MAKE SURE YOU STUDY FOR THE EXAMS! They are not easy...I'm serious. Study. They're hard. If you always go to class and STUDY then you'll do alright.
She Is very Nice and helpful really wants her students to succeed. This class is really Hard Study A ton! use Study edge!!!
Loved this class! Chemistry is sooooo difficult, but she really goes above and beyond to offer extra help and outside resources. She is really down to earth and nice. So glad I got her after hearing horror stories of chem 1
Korolev rules. She clearly know the material and wants her students to succeed. the best thing about her is she is super approachable and her office hours, while usually packed, are extremely helpful and a great resource. Its a hard class but if you go to office hours, do study edge, do practice exams, go to class, you'll be fine with Dr. Korolev.
Dr. Korolev is an excellent teacher. Princeton grad! Utilize her office hours they are an excellent resource. Go to class, it is imperative that you go to class so you understand all the concepts. Really suggest taking Korolev, she is excellent. The chemistry department at UF is very difficult, she will help you get to that level.
Korlev is an excellent Chem 1 professor! At first, I thought she wasn't going to be helpful because she was new, but turns out she knows her material really well. Go to class because she gives clicker points for extra credit and utilize her notes!
I really liked Professor Korolev. She is young and enthusiastic about the course. Her class is easy to follow and she presents the material well. The tests are beastly though so study up!
Professor Korolev is an amazing professor. She makes lectures engaging and easy to understand. Not to mention her outgoing nature makes her easy to approach for help. The test are hard so utilize every resource she gives you such as her office hours! Don't be intimidated, she's very welcoming and helpful. And she's also very fair towards students!
She is definitely a professor worth taking. She makes chemistry very interesting and lectures are always very engaging! If you have to take a general chemistry 1 class, she is the person to take!
She is very enthusiastic and energetic. Also, her office hours are VERY helpful. I highly recommend her.
I took this class because it was required for my major and didn't really to expect much from it but I was wrong. Professor Korolev made class very interesting and she makes the information easy to follow by making simple/hilarious analogies. Her experiments in class are definitely funny! She's a fair professor and is very helpful!
Awesome instructor! Even though I don't like chemistry, she managed to make the subject interesting. Very clear and helpful! She doesn't care which version of the book you use.
She is an amazing professor! She made class so interesting even though I had class at 7:25 am! She is super helpful and I would definitely recommend going to office hours! She made the material very easy to grasp!
Dr. Korolev is wonderful -- she is dynamic with the lectures, simplifies concepts for easier understanding, and is extremely helpful in office hours. I was there every Friday! Really makes you appreciate chemistry much more, although doing well in the course requires your own time and effort in studying for the exams. Take her!
Dr. Korolev was a great instructor. I would recommend her to anyone! Chem 1 is challenging but if you study old exams and pay attention in class, it will be alright. She was helpful during office hours and lectures weren't boring. Sometimes she would do experiments in front of the class and that always kept things interesting.
Awesome professor. If you have the option of taking her, take her over ANY over chem professor at UF.
Failed Chem 1 the first time I took it with Gower. Decided to try again and I am so glad I did! Dr. Korolev is the best professor I've encountered at UF. I LOVE her teaching style. I am a tactile learner and she is great at explaining things in a way that was easy for me to understand.
She was very helpful, very funny, and she rounded up on grades thank god! Very nice, and the only reason I gave her a 3 for easiness is because of the course, she taught it as good as it can be done.
Pro. Korolev is the best of the best! She truly put in a lot of effort to help you learn chemistry, and understand it. I would HIGHLY recommend her. Best way to study is to go over all old exams repetitively, read the textbook to understand things conceptually, go to office hours and if you can DEFINITELY do Study Edge. All those were great help!
She was very helpful and clear in what she taught. One of the best chem teachers at UF. If you have the chance to take her, do it!
Such a great professor. I loved going to her class, not only because she made sure you learned the material, but also because she's gorgeous.
Honestly best professor I have had, she is really helpful and her lectures are engaging rather than someone just talking at you. She's a cutie and super nice! So if you are lost go to office hours!!
thoroughly engaging and a load of fun. took her class at 0725 and absolutely loved it. fantastic professor. engaging both visually as she is quite pretty and in lecture. office hours are incredibly helpful. she rocks, 1010
Dr. Korolev is wonderful!! She's so enthusiastic and engaging during lectures, and she simplifies the concepts well. Her office hours are extremely helpful and she's very approachable. The exams are harder than the homework, so use outside resources to study. She's down-to-earth and very pretty, which made it worth it to get up for the 7:25 class.
Dr. K is awesome. You should definitely try to get her for chemistry at all costs. She explains things really well and is very helpful during office hours. I'm so glad she's teaching chem 2 next semester.
She is an incredible teacher, but I definitely wouldn't have passed without study edge!
Korolev is a fantastic professor. She's extremely clear with her lectures and covers all bases that she needs to for the following homework. I have opened my textbook once because she's so concise.
She gives great, easy-to-understand lectures. She tries her best to cover everything that will be on the following homework and tests. While some of her questions in class may try to trick you, they're honestly the best way to understand how a question could be worded on the exam. She's always there in her office hours if you need help.
Chem 1 is just a tough class in general. It is designed to weed out students that wont put in the work for it. I didn't go to class but made sure to go to Study Edge and I did really well in the class.
Professor Korolev is the best chemistry teacher I have ever had! If you do not understand chemistry, or it is not your favorite subject... it will be after you take her class. She makes it all make sense and if you go to her office hours she goes into even more detail.
I loved Korolev! She teaches extremely well and her lectures are super organized! She presents new topics with good transitions and she will always go through one problem with you, and challenge you on the participation questions right after. I recommend her to everyone! AMAZING professor!
Great professor. She teaches off powerpoints but makes it not boring and usually ends class a bit early. The quizzes and exams are straightforward, the homework and attendance points have a cap that I reached halfway through the semester. Very easy grading, you can drop an exam; I did not take the last one. Definitely take.
Take her!
I took this over summer C so it was a bit condensed. Managed a B without getting tutoring. If you took chm1025 then the first exam is a cake walk. the following exams were very tough. Korolev teaches the subject matter thoroughly and her exams are just as thorough.
Ok here's the difference between CHM2095 and CHM2045 (information I wish I had before I took this course) CHM2095-3exams, mastering chem, GROUP PROJECTS CHM2045-3exams,mastering chem, QUIZZES I got stuck with a horrible group. It was the difference between a B- and a C for me. Korolev is absolutely the best though! Take her 2045 class for sure
Very clear in lecture. Can be challenging material but if you make and effort to learn it and go to class, you will do well. Korolev is great at explaining concepts and makes it simpler to understand.
Korolev is a fantastic instructor and is very charming. I am not good at chemistry so I had to go to her office hours often. She is very good at helping her students understand fundamental concepts and is a pretty interesting person to talk to. She also is very pretty and always dresses professionally.
Korolev's lectures are very clear and she covers all the information that is on tests. The tests are very difficult but are the same across all Chem 1 classes. The Chem for Engineers projects were a waste of time and didn't enhance the material but overall great teacher, hard class!
She's really funny and good for the visual learners. Her lecture's are exciting and engaging.
Korolev is the best teacherprofessor I've had in my entire life. She's extremely animated and passionate about chemistry. This is my second semester with her, and I've gotten As on every exam. You can succeed in this class, while everybody else struggles, if you pay attention in lecture and do all the homework. Also, office hours help a lot!
She's a very good professor who's very inclined to help you out when you really need it as well as give you tips and pointers on what to watch out for on the difficult exams. However, you will learn a lot by just going to her office hours, outside of the funny, engaging, passionate lectures she gives during class hours. Definitely recommend her.
These reviews of Dr. Korolev don't lie. She's amazing and you are lucky to have her as your professor for chem 1 andor 2. I've had her for both and she is my favorite. Very smart, helpful, and funny. Lectures are fun and tests are definitely fair. You have to go to class for clicker points, but she's beautiful so you'll want to go anyways.
She's a fantastic teacher. This class is about knowing how to do the math and really understanding concepts. She goes through lots of practice questions and breaks things down for you, in a way other professors don't (they use powerpoints).
As everyone else has been saying, great professor. Had her for both chem 1 for engineers and chem 2, got As in both classes, and I didn't have to stress. Its not easy, but she does a great job teaching and as long as you put effort in you will pass. Great at teaching and has office hours every day of the week that help A LOT. TAKE THIS PROFESSOR
Not only is Dr. Korolov a greater lecturer, but she is funny, organized, and she genuinely cares about her students. Her students love her. The class is challenging - so don't expect that easy A, but the exams are fair. Before exams, rework and understand what is conceptually happening in the homework problems. Study Edge is a helpful supplement.
One of the best professors I've ever had. I had her for Chem 1 and Chem 2. She is a wonderful lecturer and knows how to break difficult concepts down step-by-step to make sure her students understand. She really utilizes in-class clicker problems to see where she needs to work on as a lecturer in helping her students understand the concepts.
I was taking Mitchell's class and was going to fail. I started going to Korolev's lectures (because Mitchell's attendance was not necessary) and she is the reason I passed! She really cares about her students and knows her stuff. She's very personable and willing to help at office hours- there's usually always people waiting for her.
Took this class with Korolev last semester and she is the best. Go to lecture, read the book and you will nearly ace every exam. Don't waste your time or money on StudyEdge. Easy, easy class if you study the right material (the book).
Love Korolev. Best professor I've had for a weed out course.
I had Korolev for Chem 1 and 2 and she was amazing!! She is easy to understand and gives clicker problems during class along the way which are very helpful. There is online homework after every class but it is helpful to reviewapply the info you just learned. I definitely recommend! Plus her tests come straight from the homework! Do not use book!
Korolev is an AMAZING professor. Her lectures are super clear and she can explain things really well. I had her for Chemistry 1, and I definitely do not regret taking her again for Chemistry 2. She gives clicker questions in class that help you challenge yourself as well as understand the material better. She's even funny, and super passionate.
I had Dr. Korolev for CHM 2045 and CHM 2046, and I do not regret taking her both times. I found the course to be extremely easy - if you showed up for class. BUT, she records the lectures, so don't fret if you miss one. Her class is great especially because her clicker and homework questions reappear on the quizzes and exams.
I may be awful at chemistry but Korolev was an amazing teacher and finally made it possible to learn something. She's a great lecturer and very helpful in office hours.
Korolev is a young professor with a great attitude and teaching style. She wants you to succeed, but you have to put in the effort. Keep up with the assignments & you'll do well. I just wish she was also in charge of the lab sections. Unfortunately the lab activities aren't coordinated with lecture lessons.
SHES AWESOMEEE
SHE IS A CHEMISTRY ANGEL. If she teaches any chemistry course, take it. Her lectures aren't boring and help so much for the exams because she explains things well. She is more than happy to help you during office hours. DO THE HOMEWORKPRACTICE PROBLEMS. It's the only way to get an A in chem. And go to class because she may drop hintsclicker pts!
Korolev is the best thing that will happen to you. She is so smart, and pretty, and a wonderful lecturer. She makes me look forward to class everyday. She makes the class very engaging and interesting. Definitely the best professor I have ever had. She is so helpful and caring, and just all around GREAT!
SHE IS THE BEST! You have to go to class (clicker questions) but she's beautiful so you will want to anyways. The homework and tests are extremely fair and correspond so wel to the course, her explanations are very detailed and if you ever need extra help, go to office hours - she is always willing to help with whatever there too. SHE'S SO GREAT
Korolev's lectures are amazing. She explains material really well. Attendance is only mandatory if you want to receive points for clicker questions.
Korolev is a great professor. She teaches the material in a way that everyone could understand. She's willing to help if you're having trouble, but the course itself requires you to really learn the material. Attendance isn't mandatory, unless you want clicker points, but it's highly recommended to understand the material better.
She's honestly so awesome. She is very passionate about the subject and it shows. I'm not a huge fan of chemistry or 7:25AM classes but she makes it worthwhile. She does great lectures and if you pay attention and go to chem discussion, the class will be fine. There is no required textbook and I haven't used the one I borrowed from my roommate.
Korolev is an angel. People who don't have her wish they did.
KOROLEV IS THE BEST CHEMISTRY TEACHER YOU WILL EVER HAVE. Not only do her lectures make chemistry seem like a piece of cake, she makes coming to class at 8:30 in the morning... dare I say it... enjoyable. She has a great, bubbly personality, and she was extremely understanding when I had conflicts with tests, and had to take an early exam.
SHE REALLY IS AN ANGEL. Her lectures are so interactive, and she explains everything in detail and makes it so easy to understand. Attendance is mandatory if you want clicker points, but tbh its so easy to wake up for her class. She has a fun and bubbly personality and she is the cutest thing ever. It's impossible to not fall in love with her.
She's an amazing teacher and I love her style of teaching, she doesn't rely on those textbook presentations and really explains in depth the concepts for Chemistry. Saved my semester for the class.
Korolev actually teaches and writes things out on a chalk board, which helps keep my attention. I also like her sense of humor. In class she has clicker questions, but you can make up for some missed questions with worksheets in discussion. There is homework 3x/ week, but it's good exam practice.
Her lectures are clear and easily understood. Lectures are mandatory to receive clicker question points which are helpful to help both student and her to know if the lesson is understood or not. She really does care how successful her students are. She even showed up to one of my discussion classes one time to see what we weren't understanding.
I don't actually have Korolev, but I go to her 7:25 classes because she's such an amazing lecturer. She teaches by doing problems on the board and interacting with the class. Rather than just giving us the definitions, equations, and relationships, she has us think about what they could be. Hands down the best chemistry professor out there.
Definitely would recommend, one of the best chemistry professors at UF. She's keeps the lectures interesting and is fair. Two weeks into the semester students from other professors began just attending her lectures. Her average on the tests were much higher then the other professors.
Korolev is easily the best Chem 1 professor at UF. She really cares about her students and wants them to succeed. Her lectures are easy to follow and engaging because she uses LearningCatalytics for clicker questions every class. If you do the homework (given after every lecture; 0.5-1 hr worth) and take previous years' exams, you should do well.
Amazing professor!!! I really recommend her
TAKE CHM2045 NOT CHM2095. Korolev is by far the best chemistry teacher there is. As far as the difference between her CHM2045 and CHM2095, CHM2095 has mini-projects during discussion classes that are hard and the TA I had was awful and graded extremely harsh. Her CHM2045 discussion just had practice problem worksheets that are completion grades.
Definitely the best in every way. She's an extremely good lecturer, she is always so helpful with anything and everything, she has a great sense of humor and makes class engaging and entertaining, and she makes me look forward to a 7:25 class. If you don't fall in love with her you're doing it wrong
Going to class doesn't feel like an obligation. Dr. K's lectures are organized, structured, extremely interactive, and challenging but fulfilling. Take advantage of her office hours, she is inexplicably helpful, caring, and inspirational. Her reputation - as a notoriously amazing teacher and revered among students - does her justice.
Dr. Korolev was very clear in what was important. Everything she said was useful information and probably was going to be on the test.
She's hot and she's an awesome professor
Dr. Korolev was an amazing lecturer. Her passion for chemistry was evident from day one. She really cares about her students and is super helpful during office hours. If you have the chance of taking chem with her do it, you would not regret it. Sure the tests are still hard, but if you follow what she says and study hard the tests will not be bad.
Dr. Korolev is incredible! She has an easily seen passion for chemistry and it motivates you to learn so much more. She is extremely helpful and her lectures are super interactive, and she's just all around great!!! If you have a chance to take her class, take it. It is so worth it, even if it is at 7:25 am. She will make your morning brighter :)
Dr. Korolev is the best CHM2045 professor out there. I am so thankful that I got her as my professor because her homework is very relevant to the materials we learn and she is always happy to help her students. She also puts a little humor in her lectures, so they are enjoyable to attend.
Great professor. Super helpful and funny. Oh and she def could have been a model.
Dr. Korolev is by far the best professor I have had at UF thus far, and is definitely the best general chemistry professor out of all of them. Her lectures are extremely comprehensive and her office hours are every week day, and she is very willing to help.
She is hands down the best chemistry professor! Her lectures are extremely helpful, but the tests are tough. If you keep up with the weekly Study Edge reviews and exam reviews you should do great!
She is a pretty good professor, but her tests are still very tough. The Study Edge reviews are the extra supplement that I think is needed to get an A
She's so great!!!! She will make you fall in love with learning even if you just can't stand chemistry, she makes everything so enjoyable and she is the best thing that will happen to you. TAKE HER CLASS EVEN IF ITS AT 7:25! She's the cutest thing ever and you won't mind going to her class
Take her class!!! She keeps the class so engaged and is extremely willing to help. She makes things extremely clear and simple to understand and if you go to class, do the hw, and the practice exams, you will do well!!! Her sweet and gracious personality will make you want to go to class I promise
Awesome Professor. Best in chemistry department of University of Florida. She is hilarious
Honestly, no comment necessary. Just take her class, regardless of the time just do it!!! She is amazing in every way possible, she's extremely smart, humble, willing to help, engaging, fun, and beautiful so yeah take her class )
Probably the best Chem 1/Chem 2 professor at UF. I had her for chem 1 and I have her again for chem 2. She is also a really sweet person and will definitely help if you go to office hours. If you go to class and do your work, you should be fine. you dont really need the textbook for the class, although i did use the problems in there for practice.
Awesome teacher. Try to get her for both CHM2045 and 2046 and you will be fine. She makes chem fun, relatable, and easy for the most part. I love this woman.
Korolev is fantastic. I had her for CHM 2045 and CHM 2046. She assigns homework three times a week, but it's good practice. There are clicker questions in class that you have to answer for credit. She explains things clearly and I enjoy her jokes.
Dr. Korolev is actually the best CHM2045/2046 professor. She is clear during her lectures and encouraging. Definitely recommend!
Dr. K is definitely the best professor I have ever had at UF!! She is extremely smart, endearing, and her personality is just so great. She explains everything so clear, and she actually cares about everyone's feedback. Take her for chm2045 & CHM2046, you will not regret it!!!
She's a great teacher. Her tests and in class learning catalytics problems are tricky sometimes.
Dr. Korolev is a FANTASTIC professor. By far my favorite professor during my Freshman year, yet it was my worst class both semesters simply because I did not study enough. She is a great lecturer because she keeps the material interesting and she is very helpful during office hours. If you like learning and laughing, then Dr. Korolev is a must!
By far the best professor I've had so far at UF. She explains things that I had struggled with in AP Chemistry that now all of a sudden make perfect sense. I highly recommend finding a spot in her class for CHM2045/CHM2046
The best general chemistry teacher by far. Lectures are very clear and she does a great job explaining concepts. Pay attention in class, rework the discussion worksheets before the test and do the practice exams and this class is a breeze. The first test is the more difficult one, but you get one drop. I ended up with 100s on the last two.
She is definitely the best gen chem professor!! She has a passion for teaching and it makes anyone want to learn. Her lectures are really fun and entertaining and she is always willing to help, with anything. And to top it all off, she is really cute and her personality is great - if you dont fall in love with her you're doing it wrong
Fewer clicker points available than in 2045. Course material is not too hard. Lots of homework but it's good practice. Enjoyed the course overall, Korolev is a fantastic lecturer and she's hilarious. And adorable.
She is the best! Whether you like chemistry or you hate it, she will make you look forward to class. She is extremely adorable, super funny, she has a sweet and contagious personality, and she just explains everything so well! Go to office hours too, she is ALWAYS willing to help :)
I LOVE THIS WOMAN. Don't take any other prof for GenChem, hang onto Korolev for dear life!! She makes the concepts easy to understand and I always looked forward to going to class bc she relates the problems with real life applications! The material itself is hard so you have to meet her halfway and actually STUDY!
Amazing professor. You'll have to do A LOT of work (especially MasteringChemistry) but she'll actually teach you chemistry and prepare you for the exams! For the exams, if you study your notes, take the practice exam, and redo the clicker questions and worksheets, you'll do well.
SHE IS AMAZING! Get to registration early though, spots in her class fill quick. She's the best professor you'll ever have.
Chemistry at UF is not easy by all means. I had Dr. Korolev for CHM2045 and CHM2046 and probably wouldn't of been able to get an A in both with another professor. Make sure to register for her class EARLY bc everyone wants her as a professor. I wish she taught organic chemistry bc I would take another class with her in a heart beat! She's a gem.
She is absolutely wonderful. Do not take any other chem professor!
Don't take anyone else for gen Chem!!! She's super freaking adorable, she makes everything extremely clear, she will make class fun and she is always always always willing to help. If you go to class, do the hw, go to discussion, and actually study for the exams you will be fine! She is the best thing that will happen to you your freshman year
Korolev was a great lecturer and knew how to keep the students attentive. However, as with most chemistry classes, extra study aids are very helpful/necessary. The combination of Korolev's teaching and Study edge reviews will promise you a good grade. Study edge is a must, though. I would not have done nearly as well on any of my exams without it.
I WILL MISS HER! She's a wonderful professor who had funny comments to keep us intrigued. Don't plan on taking Gen Chem 1 with anyone else. I suggest using Study Edge and working past exam problems. I finished with an A in the class and 100 on the Final exam. This class requires some time, but she is a great lecturer with fair exams.
Definitely the best in every way, if you can't into her class at least go and watch her lectures, it's worth it I promise!!! Ps If you don't fan girl over her at least like 10 times during the semester you're doing it wrong
Whether or not you should take her class is honestly not even a question. Her personality is endearing and she teaches in a way that only she can teach, it's indescribable. Also she's beautiful so yeah take her class
Dr. Korolev is very good at making things understandable to even those with the most basic chem background. However, the exams often times have a few tricks to them, so i'd advise study edge. My first exam was a D, before I used it and actually got back down to earth, the next two were B and A respectively and the final, well that was pretty hard.
Maria Korolev is the best chemistry teacher at UF. She makes the concepts so much easier to understand, but the exams are slightly more complicated than what she covers in class so if you aren't good at building on concepts then I would recommend study edge or seeing her at office hours because she's very available!
She's really nice and a great teacher. Chem is just one of those classes for which Study Edge is so necessary. Makes everything easier. You can pass just going to class and doing work, but you will spend about twice the time as you would have spent with Study Edge. Korolev is great. Definitely best teacher for Chem; everyone agrees.
I loved Korolev! She was a great professor and I enjoyed going to her class. Although I did not take chemistry in high school so I felt a little behind in the beginning of the semester. After I used study edge for the second exam my grade got exceptionally better! 10/10 would recommend.
Dr. Korolev was an amazing professor; however, since it is a weed out class it is designed to be difficult and to test you on concept knowledge. Study Edge was a HUGE help and helped me maintain my A. The practice problems are definitely the way to study. Also, Dr. Korolev was very helpful during office hours!
I got so lucky that I got her. She is very clear and concise in her lectures and doesn't mince words or waste time and get off track. She adds humor in and that helps with stress. She is also very kind and respectful in office hours and explains things very thoroughly so you know what you're doing afterwards. Bonus: She's good looking!
I had Korolev this semester for CHM2045 and from the start knew I could never survive with a different professor. I already signed up to get her class again for 2046. She's so clear and thorough in lectures. She makes difficult concepts simple to grasp and even makes it funny. She's a funny lovely person and I wouldn't consider having anyone else.
She's one of the best professors at UF for chemistry. Her lectures cover the material very well. It's definitely a class you need to study for, but she provides you everything you need to pass exams. Would recommend her 100% !
I LOVED KOROLEV. Her lectures were so enjoyable and pretty easy to follow. She goes over the harder questions in class so that you can really master the concepts. Plus, a lot of those questions will be on the exams too. 10/10 would recommend.
Dr . Korolev was honestly the best thing that could have happened to me. The material itself is tricky but she could effectively teach it to toddlers. She's truly passionate about chemistry, sweet, and makes the lectures interesting & funny (and she's gorgeous on top of everything!). Do anything possible to get her as your instructor.
Korolev was great! She teaches well and even throws in jokes to keep you interested. I didn't think the exams were too difficult - just take notes, study them, and take practice tests and you'll be fine. For the engineering part, we just did little worksheets on projects that I didn't think were too helpful. But they were easy points.
Korolev is a great professor for chemistry; even if you're not an engineering major, I would see if you could take her classes for Chem 1. You might want to go to her lectures even if you're not one of her students. If you are in her class, STUDY! I have a lot of experience with Chemistry, but the tests were still tricky. She tests for MASTERY!
I failed chem last year and retook it with her. Ended up getting perfects on 2 out of 4 tests and 97% in the class. She is an amazing teacher and very helpful and funny and wants you to succeed. Very smart and inspirational. Attendance is mandatory. Tests are tough if you don't study but super easy if you practice. Study edge helps out a lot.
I love Dr. Korolev! I took AP/AICE Chem in high school, but I still gained a greater understanding from her lectures. She explains concepts in a way that anyone can understand and she adds humor to her lectures to make them truly enjoyable. If you take her class it will be the highlight of your week.
She is an amazing teacher and I highly recommend her.
It's pretty clear she loves teaching chemistry and her lectures are fun and interesting. I learned a lot from her in gen chem 1 and 2 and I wish I could have taken her for orgo too. She's definitely one of my favorite professors at UF and she's pretty darn adorable too.
Great teacher. If you go to class there's no reason you shouldn't get an A or A-. Generally regarded as the best chem teacher at UF rn. Took this class without taking chemistry at all in high school and still got a 97% in the class.
Dr. Korolev is so passionate about chemistry. She makes lectures interesting because she is funny and teaches it well (and she's gorgeous). I still really struggled in the class despite her great lectures, but Study Edge helps a lot especially if you go into the class with a weak chem background.
Without a doubt the best prof I've ever had at UF. Her ability to teach is honestly inexcplicable and her passion for the subject itself and for the success of others is so easily shown. She will make your days brighter and your lectures seem a lot shorter. Also she's super gorgeous and adorable
She's honestly the best prof I've ever had. She is just so caring and shows deep interest in each particular student, her ability to explain is just incomparable to anything and anyone, and her lectures are extremely engaging! She's just the perfect person you know... pretty, adorable, fun, smart
Freaking awesome professor, fun, cute, and super smart. Definitely recommend!
By far one of my favorite science professors at UF. She takes time to care about her students and make sure they learn the material. She is super helpful and makes her lectures engaging and fun! The exams are tricky because of the material of chem 2, but study edge helps with reviewing topics and giving practice problems.
Dr. Korolev is without a doubt the best teacher I've had so far at UF. She is an amazing educator that can explain the most difficult concepts in ways that are easy to understand, and she keeps you engaged with jokes and her awesome personality. She made 8:30am lectures pretty great! I would absolutely take her classes again. I'll miss her for sure
Korolev is easily the best chemistry professor at UF, if you come to class theres no reason you shouldn't get an A. If you don't understand the material stuff like Study Edge really helps to watch videos and catch back up. She's fun and doenst give too much hw.
Lectures are kind of boring but clicker questions are used kind of like attendance. Shes pretty and funny and as long as you study, pay attention, and do practice problems you can pass.
Korolev is definitely the best professor I've had at UF. She is clear with how you can get an A and as long as you put in effort studying, doing the homework & clicker questions in class, and doing her practice problems you can pass. She's really funny and sweet which makes lectures less boring!
BEST professor I've had so far at UF. She uses a variety of visual aids in class so that learning concepts is easy. Also the notes she provides makes the concepts simple and the homework is all relevant and helpful. Wish I had taken her for CHM 2045. Clicker questions in class but easy if you pay attention and take notes. 100% recommended!
THE FREAKING BEST! Dr. K is truly a gem. She makes class fun and interesting and will make you want to learn. She is extremely willing to help you succeed and will sit with you until you fully understand the material. Wish she taught all my classes tbh. The only problem is that you might be too distracted with her cuteness lol :)
Most amazing teacher at UF. Had her for chem 1 and also chem 2. Class is a bit harder to get an A than in chem 1, but with study edge and paying attention in class you can do well. Definitely recommend her and worth going to lecture anytime of day. Wish I could fail chem so I could take her again.
She's the best choice for sure, but she is difficult. Her lectures are amazing, and everything is great, the only less-than ideal part about her class is the exams, sometimes she likes to trick her students on the exams and really make sure that they know the concepts behind what they are doing. I Went to Office hours, where she was really helpful.
She is freaking adorable and without a doubt the best professor I've ever had. She honestly cares about every student and that is definitely something very unusual in college.
Grades are based on 3 HW assignments per week, in-class clicker questions, 3 exams, and 1 final. Study Edge really helped me keep up and offers great reviews leading up to exams. Exam questions are usually very similar to past exams, maybe a few numbers or compounds are changed, so study every past exam she posts and you should do fine.
Dr. Korolev is honestly the best! She is adorable and makes lecture fun, she truly cares about her students, and she makes chemistry seem not so difficult. Take advantage of her office hours (super great) as well as the study groups! My TA was super helpful, she provided more practice problems and made the harder concepts so much more clear.
I love professor Korolev. She actually made chemistry interesting and really easy to understand. If you actually go and pay attention to her in lecture and DO THE HOMEWORK PROBLEMS!!!!! You will pass no problem.
Korolev is LITERALLY my fav teacher ever! She's super nice and helpful and made me love chemistry. Go to office hours and Broward tutoring and all that jazz. Shes an amazing person and make sure to do the homework ;) (her laugh makes u laugh)
Korolev was one of the best professors that I have had at UF. While she teaches well, the material can be overwhelming, so I found that going to her lectures and using Study Edge really helped me to do better in the class. Study Edge was able to break down the material in an easier to understand way that was very beneficial.
Best professor ever. Instead of going to my professor's lectures, I watched her's. She is so good at simplifying the material and explaining everything as she goes along. She is also open to answering questions. She does tend to make her questions in class a lot easier than they are on the test and homework though.
Really great professor, willing to help, but honestly would not have done as well without Study Edge. The exams are all about remembering how to do the problems and not as much conceptual stuff- Study Edge really helped out with that.
Chemistry isn't really an easy subject for anyone, luckily, Korolev & study edge got me through it. She is an extremely caring and helpful teacher however sometimes i needed a little more to get me by cause a lecture is so large which is where edge came in. The combination of both is what got me through and i would 100% take her again for another.
Korolev is by far the best chem professor, and if you have the option to take her class, do it. She is 100x better than any other chem professor. The class is graded based on 4 exams, homework, and in class questions, but you have to do extremely well on the exams to get an A (they're not easy). Watch her lectures and you'll do well. No book needed
This class is not a joke and will be the hardest class you have ever taken. With that said, Korolev is the best professor for this class and the best professor I have had at the college level. That said, unless you have a really strong chemistry background, if you don't use study edge, I would not expect to get higher than a B.
She made chemistry interesting and fun. She used hilarious metaphors and made the concepts very easy to understand. Absolutely the best teacher!
Great lecturer. Very funny. Homeworks assigned are very relevant and useful. She also offers a lot of practice tests which helped tremendously!! A lot of the practice test questions appear on your exams. I also enjoyed the mini projects in CHM2096. They are time consuming but TAs will grade you nicely if you show effort and ask plenty of questions
Great teacher! Teaches you what is going to be on the test and gives enough homework and practice to ensure that you can be prepared if you put in the effort.
All lectures are recorded, but you still definitely have to go to class for clicker points. Korolev is an amazing lecturer. She is very accessible during office hours.
Dr. Korolev will help you strive for success and is honestly the best professor Ive had! She is very caring and really just the best!!!!
Dr. Korolev is amazing, fantastic, and perfect all around. I don't have her as a professor, but I sneak into her classes just so I can learn Chemistry, since my professor can't teach for peanuts.
very clear and straightforward lecturer come to class its worth it!!
Korolev is very good at breaking down the material during lecture so you have a solid foundation for the exams. Definitely recommend study edge and practice problems to help with a good grade.
She was a good teacher although her class was pretty difficult. She went further in detail than some other professors but overall it wasn't too bad. Study Edge makes a huge difference for many of the science classes at UF, especially the freshman level classes when it is all so new to students. Rich at Study Edge is an great tutor and really helped
I love her! I love her! I love her! Dr. K is the most gorgeous and smart professor I have ever had. She is brilliant and super helpful in office hours. Definitely go to office hours! She will help you with homework, old exam questions, or just give you some support. She is perfect, 10 out of 10. Wish she would be my big sister!
Best teacher at UF!!! Love her teaching style. She is relatable in her teaching and office hours are so helpful. She makes me love chemistry. Go to class, study HARD the discussion worksheets, homework, and practice exams and you'll do great.
If you're engaged in class you'll have no trouble with the in-class clicker questions or the three weekly homework assignments. While the exams are the majority of your grade, you do get a drop that is replaced with the average of your exam scores, so you have some slack. Overall, she keep the class fun and engaging. Take her if you can!
She's honestly the best professor I've had. Make sure you take her for Chem 1! Dr. Korolev is passionate and really wants her students to do well. She's an exceptional teacher, but her tests can be challenging. If you put in the work and go to office hours you'll be fine.
I love Korolev SO much! Her lectures are very descriptive and helpful, she really cares about her students. She wants everyone to do well. Hands down BEST Chem professor at UF. My only complaint is that her Chem 2 is much more difficult than Chem 1. She tries to trick you on the exams to make sure you really understand it. 10/10 recommend her!!!!
Dr. Korolev is really the most organized and the most fair in all of General Chemistry. The way her class is set up is conducive to learning and reflected on her homework and exams. Even though she may be the best, you have to work really hard to overcome her tricky exams. She available to guide you and help you learn!
Beware of tricky tricky exams. She gives you all the information you need to know on the exams, however, you should pay attention in class because he may mention one thing in class and bring it up on exam. Your hard work in this class will pay off!
Having had Korolev for Chem 1 and 2, I have seen a lot of her. She is an amazing teacher, but the level of difficulty of her tests this semester was unreal. I learned so much about chemistry, but wish i had taken a different professor because I would have gotten a better grade. I recommend her for 1 because doesn't make the tests, for 2, I do not.
Dr. Korolev cares so so so much about her job and her students!!! She will sit with you in office hours until you fully understand, her lectures are extremely engaging, and her personality is just endearing. Her exams are not tricky, they just test application. Do your hw, go to class, ask questions and you will be fine!
Dr. K is a force to be reckoned with. Her lectures r vry informative & it is essential tht u maintain detailed notes on the material bc the tests will cover it all. I recommend attending as many of her office hours as possible & coming with ur questions prepared ahead of time. FORM STUDY GROUPS AND REWATCH LECTURE. txtbook & study edge not needed
Dr. Korolev DEFINITELY makes you work for your grade. EVERYTHING she assigns and provides is ALL fair game on the exam. She likes to put at least 2 tricky questions on the exam, but if you studied everything, you should be fine. GO TO OFFICE HOURS because she really clears things up if you don't understand. Also, get Study Edge.
Dr. Korolev is by far the most informative professor in the general chemistry department. With that being said, her Chem 2 exams are really challenging. If you go to all of her lectures and make a habit of preparing for tests early, you should be fine, but don't expect her lectures and homework to prepare you for exams on their own.
Practice tests and office hours are key for doing well on exams! Her office hours are insanely useful for really everything tbh. Idk how shes so energetic all the time but its refreshing! Told me that krishna salad dressing was like crack, I gave it a try, and never looked back. Dont be like me and tank ur grade bc ur too lazy to redo hw though lol
Amazing. Lectures are easy to follow. Explains hard concepts and makes them easy. Just study lecture notes, daily homework, PLA, and quizzes and you'll do good. Not heavy readings, but must go to class.
She is just amazing! Breaks down concepts, presents variety of examples, and is so caring about everything. Must go to class!!! And definitely go to office hours, she is super willing to help there too.
Dr. Korolev was a great professor. Her tests are definitely difficult and I would recommend using Study Edge to help study for them. She makes the concepts extremely understandable and she is also very helpful after class and during her office hours. Would definitely recommend.
Korolev is honestly probably the best teacher I have ever had. She is super clear in her lectures, and I definitely would suck at chem if I didn't have her. It's still a difficult class with a lot of homework (about 7 hours worth a week), but she's by far the best option for chem.
Are you an engineer? Take Korolev. Are you not an engineer? Take Korolev. The only difference between 2045 and 2095 is that 2095 has Korolev and slightly different discussion/homework assignments. They both have the same tests. Seriously one of the best teachers I've ever had, I feel bad for the people who have other teachers. She's a must take!
Makes hard subjects simple
Felt good for most of semester. Randomly crazy hard tests will screw you. Lectures on material not on test. Seems nice but does not care how the class does. Very good lectures, wish they were more relevant.
Y'all already know Dr. Korolev is the goat. Basically the only choice when picking a chem teacher. A few people have declared engineering majors just to have her section for the semester, and then change majors their sophomore year. CHM2095 discussions we do "mini-projects" in groups instead of quizzes. They're not hard and Korolev is worth it.
She is freaking amazing!!! If you don't have her, you will wish you did. She is super caring, and she really makes chemistry make sense.
Dr. Korolev is an amazing professor. She is incredibly intelligent and very helpful in her office hours. GO TO THEM! The exams, at least for Fall 2018, were pretty difficult and the class took all of my might in order to get an A. You should study a lot for the exams, as they are 60% of your grade, not including the final. Would take again!
I took her, last semester for CHM2095 and even though it was an 8:30 am lecture I understood everything perfectly, she is the best lecturer in the chemistry department. I loved her class so much that I decided to take for the CHM2096 course too. She usually only teaches the engineering section so not everyone will be able to get in her section.
I can without a doubt say that Korolev is the best Gen Chem Professor at UF. She does a great job breaking down the material and Study Edge was also a great help for this class. Go to lecture and watch the SE reviews for a solid grade.
She really helped me succeed in chemistry! I did not take her for Chem 1 and I wish I did. Her lectures in class are thorough and enjoyable to go to. Her exams are hard and you need to put in the time to do well. I went to her office hours multiple times and she was very helpful.
Korolev is a great professor for chemistry, she's friendly and teaches the subjects very well. She makes it very straightforward to learn and yet you get a good understanding of the subject. The exams are not jokes though, and usually 1 or 2 of the 4 midterm exams hurt, but it's very possible to recover and get an A.
Honestly a great professor. MAKE SURE to use her office hours they're super helpful, especially for HW. The exams are not a joke and you definitely have to study! Personally, the mistakes I made on the exams were all my fault and not because of bad teaching.
Dr. Korolev was my professor for the second half of my Chem 2 course. She is an amazing and effective lecturer, she is willing to help students and she is very professional. Her exams are very difficult, however she does a great job of preparing you for what you need to know. She is the best chem professor I have had at UF.
An amazing professor and lecturer. Super helpful in explaining the process and meaning behind concepts, rather than just making you memorize. Class participation is graded, and there are a lot of homework assignments (but nothing too insane). Textbook is optional, but helpful. Overall, an amazing professor that I'm excited to have again next year!
Her lectures are amazing, and really prepare you to do well on not just the exams, but in future chemistry courses. She engages students with many examples, showing us the steps to do problems with clear explanations. Her humor also adds to 8:30 lectures, making it worthwhile to get up and go to class (TopHat is utilized for attendance).
Shes an amazing prof. I would highly recommend her if you have the chance to take her for one of your classes. Only advice is to do the HW and make sure yo understand it for the test. Also, go to every lecture since there is little graded clicker questions during the lectures. If you start to fall behind, get study edge.
Dope professor. Had her for the 2nd half of Gen Chem II, definitely better than the other professor. The way she explains concepts is very easy to digest, but make no mistake this is a tough class, so if you don't understand something, stay a few minutes after the lecture and ask her to explain. Also, her exams are nasty. Full of trick questions
She gives you everything you need to do well in Chemistry.
More of a flipped flipped class that you watch one or two 3-5 minute videos then answer two or three short questions. In class is usually her teaching you the applications of the pre class videos. Homework is slightly harder than the lectures but helps you prepare for the actual exams. If you know how to do the homework, youll pass the class.
Dr. Korolev was a great choice for a chem 1 professor. She was willing to be there for her students when they needed them. Study Edge was also very helpful for his course. Would recommend her, but recommend the use of Study Edge even more! It was a really usual resource for an alternative explanation on the topics.
10/10 would not take again, she was the worst professor Ive had at UF
Didn't hear much from Korolev but this class was a decent lab class! The labs themselves are kinda long but they're only once a week with a few additional post and pre lab assignments. If you gotta get this class done this is a good choice for a professor! Your grade is mostly determined by your TA.
Dr. Korolev is by far the best professor I've had at UF. She explained everything so well and made very confusing subjects understandable. She is also a very kind and funny person which made going to lectures enjoyable. The tests were not easy, but everything on them was explained thoroughly in class.
If you ever see Korolev, lab or lecture, take her. Her final exam for this class was weird, as the questions required answers from prior questions, so it was possible to get a whole chain of them wrong, but still great overall.
You don't really interact with Dr. Korolev, but she provides prompt responses over email if you have any questions. Labs are generally straightforward or if you have a good TA, they provide clarification. Most labs took under 2 hours. The final was also very easy. Ended the class with close to a 100.
Dr. Korolev is amazing. She is a great lecturer and explains concepts really well. Her office hours are a must even if you dont have questions its good to listen to her explain things that other students ask. She is really easy to contact as she responds quickly. Her tests are no joke. You have to review all homework problems that she gives.
Didn't interact with Dr. Korolev but she seemed great. The lab is an easy A as long as you do your work. The final was simple and I ended with close to a 100
Dr. Korolev definitely made it worth it to go to an 8:30am chem lecture.
Korolev is a great professor who give homework exactly like the lectures, and gives exams exactly like homework. Practice and do your homework without cheating and it's an easy A.
Cannot recommend Korolev enough, not too serious but always covers and explains the material in good detail. Very open to questions. Her office hours are extremely helpful, and she'll always guide you in working through the problem to ensure you have the skills to do it yourself. Literally 10/10.
Dr. Korolev is definitely one of the best chem professors you can get. Unfortunately, she only taught Chem for Engineers when I had her. Very dynamic and funny in lectures and on top of things in terms of curriculum/grading. 10/10 would have her as a professor again but I don't want to take chemistry next semester.
Dr. Korolev is an amazing professor and if youre pursuing an engineering major I would recommend you take her class. She gives material that will prepare you for exams and is clear during lectures. Her personality is also funny and just a good vibe for a 8:30am class :)
Korolev was amazing; class was hard but bearable
Never saw her but she dope
It was definitely worth having Dr. Korolev this semester and the previous semester in Chemistry for Engineers. She explains many things very clearly to us and is also pretty cool. Her feedback during office hours is also invaluable. Sometimes problems she gives are tough, but very doable. One of the best professors I had here at UF.
Dr. Korolev is a wonderful professor. She explains things clearly and makes chemistry easy to understand. Beware of her exams though. They are very tough. Office hours helped. Make sure to do the homework yourself and understand it well. She hasn't given an exam question that wasn't either covered in lecture or homework.
Amazing professor!! I had her for CHM2095 and 2096 and would take her again, but she is not teaching other courses, currently. Very inspirational, her teaching style is superior, hilarious as well! Perhaps one of the best professors at UF. Take her if you have the chance.
Dr. Korolev is my favorite professor so far! She explains things so clearly. I thought I hated chemistry before her class, but now I actually enjoy it. She is a great lecturer and her course is very organized. Don't expect her to respond quickly to grade emails, though. If you show up to class and do the homework honestly, you are golden.
I absolutely loved Korolev as a professor. She was very kind, hilarious in lectures, and always open to giving advice. The rules in her class were set very straightforward and I respected her. She taught chemistry well in a way that, if I listented, I understood what she was saying. However, I will say her exams are no joke, so be prepared.
super unforgiving
Had a valid doctors note to miss class due to an illness and she did not care. Ended up getting 0s on my post lab assignments since I had to be there but after submitting my excused absence form she did not think my reasoning for missing class was valid. Be prepared to show up to lab regardless of how you feel if you want to get points for the day.
Dr. Korolev was very talented at presenting topics in a way that was easy to understand and well paced without coming across as slow or patronizing. She was kind and upbeat which helps get through a morning class.During lectures she is very attentive to both in-person and online students and always covers any questions or curiosities we might have.
Professor Korolev is great, make sure to go to the lectures though because she uses clicker questions for credit. She is very willing to help you understand the topic especially if you go to her office hours.
Dr. Korelev does a great job keeping the material engaging. 10/10 would reccomend
Professor Korolev is easily one of the best chemistry lecturers out there! She gives pre-class assignments the night before each lecture, three iClicker questions during, three Aleks assignments a week, and the weekly discussion period projects. Your grade is mostly made up by the exams so plan out your studying and take advantage of past exams!
She is a great teacher, but taking a class at 8:30 made me not go to class somewhat often. Tests make 83% of the final grade, so good look if you usually struggle with those. Overall, this class was hard but she was always available during office hours. I would take the class again, but just be ready to wake up early if it's at the same time.
These multiple 5.0 ratings aren't lies. Dr. Korolev is an amazing lecturer. Yeah, her class is at 8:30 but she makes it so worth it. She has really good energy and is good at keeping the class engaged. Take advantage of her office hours because she will clarify any confusion you have extremely well.
Korolev is a great speaker and is an amazing lecturer when it comes to chemistry. She is clearly knowledgeable and excited when it comes to teaching her classes the material. Make sure you prepare for tests, as the exams make up roughly 80 percent of your final grade.
Good lecturer, material is taught fairly well. The class itself is generally unenjoyable, as the only assignments that really matter are the tests which are quite difficult and offer no extra credit. There are also zero resources to study for the final. Unless you really enjoy chemistry, be prepared to study a ton outside of class to get an A.
Dr. Korolev is definitely the best chem professor and great for engineers. Chemistry is not an easy subject. She lectures well and the homework is relatively easy, but in order to be prepared for the tests you need to get more practice problems and the only way to do that is to get Study Edge. I recommend finding a friend and splitting the cost.
Great professor! Explains concepts clearly and only requires a textbook for HW (no required readings). Must attend class for mandatory iClicker. Don't expect extensions on work/assignments. Do the practice exams, they are very similar to the real ones. No extra credit opportunities and few resources for final exam. Attend office hours!
Dr. Korolev is the absolute best teacher I've had at UF. I had her for both chem 1 and 2. She is very passionate about teaching and makes the class so enjoyable. There's a fair amount of work but none of it feels like busy work. All homeworks help you for the exam. TAKE THIS CLASS instead of gen chem. Love her
Dr. Korolev is by far the best STEM professor I have ever had. Chem is hard, but she explains everything so concisely that it makes it so much more simple. PLAs are easy and homework is 100% like lecture, and she never requires reading the textbook unless absolutely necessary. Didn't waste any time, would take for any class ever.
Best professor I've had. Made chemistry really understandable and fun to learn. Every assignment helps with the course, no busy work! Exams are hard but doable if you study. Definitely recommend
Does a really good job at teaching/explaining the material, the tests are a bit harder than the hw and some of the questions seem out of left field (all multiple choice). Very approachable and willing to answer questions.
This class would be untolerable with any other prof
It's very hard for me to stay focused in big lecture classes, but I truthfully enjoy and don't have a hard time paying attention Dr.Korolev's lectures. She explains concepts very well and the lectures are built to lead off each topic she introduces. She also makes jokes during class and it keeps the vibe light and not too serious.
Dr. Korolev is peppy which makes it bearable to attend the 8:30 lecture. A lot of homework assignments ~3 per week (complete waste of time because they make up a tiny portion of your grade). Exams aren't easy, but if you use study edge it is achievable to do well on them. Final was extremely difficult no matter how much you study so be prepared.
This lab is very TA dependent and if they are an easy/fair grader or not. Show up and review the pre lab assignments and you'll be fine. The only tough assignment is the pre-lab quizzes which sometimes have challenging questions. Lab practical is very easy since you are just re-doing a prior lab by yourself but you still get instructions.
Your grade in the lab depends heavily on which TA you get as they are the ones you interact with the most. Dr. Korolev was nice and I liked her a lot.
The best chem professor at UF. If you can take her please do. Her lectures are so thorough and you can attend on zoom which was perfect for an 8:30. I highly recommend chem for engineers over gen chem.
Dr. Korolev is very knowledgeable about chemistry. However, the entire class felt like a trick and you were being set up to fail. Dr. Korolev's lectures are focused on topics and practice problems and she rarely helps you understand/differentiate topics. Exams were nothing like practice exams and there was not a practice exam given for the final.
She is such an amazing lecturer. I will say, sometimes work gets to be a lottt between the homeworks and quizzes and lab stuff and tests that just happen to be a day before/after math exams :'). This class definitely requires the most work for me, but Korolev overall is so amazing and sweet I love her so much even though I am struggling in CHM2096
Very positive and helpful teacher, made sure lectures were not boring - explained all concepts very well and made everything easy to understand.
Very tough class, however Korolev did a great job at breaking down concepts and was easy to understand. You could attend class over zoom which is great. Definitely recommend getting Study Edge for this course as it thoroughly preps you for exams which were very difficult.
I love Korolev. That's all. Literally the best professor I've ever had. If you can, take her. love love love
Dr. K is a great lecturer, and she is very nice. The content itself is pretty hard, so it definitely takes a lot of time outside of class. But she really helps in office hour if you ever have anything unclear in mind. Take her!
Dr. Korolev is helpful and clear in her teaching. Although the content can get hard, if you put in the work early and consistently through the course, you will do well. Her lectures are very very good and go over all the "tricks" for the exams. Make sure to take good notes and even go back and watch the lectures to improve your notes if necessary.
Korolev was a great lecturer. Super approachable and helpful in office hours and she liked people to participate in class. She had a good way of explaining things, did a lot of practice problems, and all the assignments she posted were really helpful to prepare for exams. Study a lot though!
Dr. Korolev was a great professor. She provided many example problems during class which was very helpful for the exam. Going to office hours was really helpful. Definitely recommend doing the ungraded homework as they not only help for the exam but the questions on it are very similar to those on the quizzes.
SUPER GOOD! If you an engineering major and you need chem 1 or 2, TAKE HER! Her lectures are well-paced, organized and straight to the point. everything she tests you on is in her lectures and exams are pretty fair with difficulty. Homeworks help you actually learn and aren't crazy difficult. Quizzes aren't too often and online.
Korolev is an amazing lecturer who makes chemistry engaging. The workload is heavy, but using unstuckstudy AI alongside the textbook made study prep a breeze. Though exams are challenging, her thorough explanations and approachable demeanor keep the class manageable.
She is hands down one of the best chemistry professors I've ever had. She's funny, engaging, and so helpful. Her lectures were perfectly paced so I never felt like I was lost, her tips were amazing, and her ungraded hw was awesome. I only wish I could take her for the rest of my chem courses. The course was hard but she made it 10x easier.
Shes the best!
Great chem lecturer, pay attention and do hw and you will succeed.
Unless you are on your death bed in the hospital, go to her lab. Your absence will not be excused.
Chem 1 here is notoriously and unreasonably difficult, but if you're an engineer you NEED to take the 2095 section with Korolev. She really cares about what she teaches and makes hard topics easier to understand. Attendance based on iClicker (you can hop on the zoom instead of class if 8:30 is too early for you), exams are 80% of your entire grade.
You can tell Dr. Korolev really cares about her students and their success. Her lectures are really great, especially compared to the other chem professors that I've heard about. As long as you're willing to do the work/study you should be fine. Overall, she made a difficult course seem very manageable.
Korolev gives good lectures and makes the content a lot easier to learn. The class is still hard but she makes it better.
Korolev is a good professor, and her early class is definitely worth it. Not as much HW as the other chem professor. every assignment is basically worthless other than the test. Do the worksheets and the practice tests, she posts plenty of material to prepare you for the exams.
Dr. Korolev makes a difficult class very manageable, lectures are very well-paced and interactive. She also gave a ton of resources to study for the exams. Awesome lecturer!
Great professor if you have to take chemistry. iClicker in class is worth a very small percentage of grade. All lectures are available to attend virtually. Lectures are pretty comprehensive but a few times I needed to use textbook/google. ~2 hours homework each week. Make sure to take notes on the pre-lecture assignments.
I loved Dr. Korolev! Her 20- to 30-minute pre-class videos were helpful, and she expanded on them in class. There's a lot of homework and you have to study a lot. Also, Dr. Sumner writes the tests, so there were certain questions on the tests I wasn't as familiar with. I highly recommend Study Edge—it clarifies exactly what to study for tests!
Korolev is the best professor you can get for any of the general chems, shes really helpful and has a great attitude. She explains things clearly and makes an unbearable and difficult class a little more manageable.
I didn't speak directly to Korolev during the semester bc you're mostly working with your TA. Nonetheless, I thought she was great. I know that her CHM2095 consistently has higher averages with Sumner's class compared to the rest of the CHM2045 professors, too. Study for the final as instructed, but don't stress over it. It's really not too bad.
She was a good professor, I liked the way she lectured and having pre lecture videos to watch so you had an idea about what the class was about. The achieve homework was also easy to use. Using old practice exams and chapter worksheets are a good way to study for the exams.
Absolutely take chem for engineers over gen chem if you can! Dr. Korolev is an amazing professor and does everything she can to help you succeed. She provides a lot of resources to help you study for exams (majority of your grade), practice exams and worksheets that she posts are the best way to prepare yourself.
Unnecessarily hard class. Though it is evident she tries her best to teach well, the class could be structured in a more beneficial way.
Dr. Korolev is a great professor. However, the course itself is difficult. VERY difficult. Considering most students take this course their first college semester, earning a high grade is tough. I HIGHLY recommend purchasing a supplemental aid like Study Edge; it provides extra practice to help one ace the course.
Tough class, but the lectures are taught well. Grading is exam heavy but fair, I would say one of the better professors if your taking chem, but since it was 8am, I attended lectures mostly through live zoom which worked out well.
The professor was really nice at office hours and the TAs were super helpful if you were stuck or confused on any part of the lab procedures and post-lab questions. Make sure to read and understand the lab procedures before the lab class. Also make sure to read the rubrics for post-lab assignments as they were straightforward. Class was easy.
Absolutely incredible
Best professor in the chemistry department.
She's really good chem 2 was just hard
Dr. Korolev is by far the best Gen Chem teacher in the whole department. Her pre-lectures are usually only around 5 minutes long and she teaches exactly what you need to know. If you have the choice, definitely take her.
Dr. Korolev is a fantastic lecturer despite her exams being difficult and chem 2 just being a hard class. If you take her class, GO TO OFFICE HOURS. She is so helpful, and I regret not going until the end of the semester. She helped me to save myself from potentially failing the class during a really rough semester. Love her!
Definitely a manageable and cool class, if you want to get an A make sure to meticulously study the content in between lectures.
Professor Korolev was helpful during office hours. She is very approachable and friendly. Her exams weren't too bad and studying the in-class PowerPoints help for the exams. The class was a bit of memorization but Korolev taught it well.
Her teaching style makes it easy to learn. The class is straightforward and she explains things really well. I loved her sm.
She's the goat
good lectures, high-paced course, good teaching style
She was such an amazing teacher. I came in knowing nothing only high school chem, and ended knowing so much! Love her so much.
She was great. The class itself is hard, and the tests are worth about 75% of the grade, but she is definitely an amazing lecturer.
If you have the option between Korolev and any other Chem 1 professor... CHOOSE KOROLEV. While the other professors assign tons of unnecessary and repetitive homeworks/videos, Korolev assigns just enough work to make sure that you are progressing through the course in a timely manner and practice the range of topics that will be on the test.
If you are an engineering major I would recommend taking the Chemistry for Engineers class and lab. The lab assignments are applicable to the field of engineering and more interesting in general (also less work/time needed), and the students in the class are on average more driven and interesting. Glad I choose CHM2095L.
She's definitely one of the better chem 1 professors so if you're an engineering major take her. We had the same content and tests as CHM 2045 but chem in general is so unecessarily hard. If you can, take it in high school. Office hours were more helpful than the lectures because she went so fast. The projects in our discussion are just busy work.
chem 1 is a pain but korolev is the best prof u can get. u take the same exams as chm2045 but her averages are always significantly higher. do literally every practice test and review worksheet she assigns, and youll be alr.
Dr. Korolev's lectures are amazing, she is great at breaking down all the concepts and showing step-by-step examples of problems you might see on the exam. She is can make class engaging, even when it is at 8:30 with attendance mandated by iClicker (but you can also do it from home).
Dr. Korolev is a great lecturer and is extremely helpful in office hours. Her class is very productive and she is easily the best teacher for Gen Chem 1. Highly, highly recommend.
Her mom jokes are funny and she breaks down topics really well. She's extremely nice and does everything to LET you succeed. It is hard, but very doable if you want to.
Dr. Korolev goes over material clearly and uses iClicker for practice questions and attendance. Homework is assigned every lecture as well as pre lecture assignments. I recommended working through these assignments as they are helpful test prep material.
Dr. Korolev was always engaging in her lectures and really cares about her students. There are iClicker questions for attendance and the exams are worth the vast majority of your grade so make sure to prepare well for them.
