She is a teacher who is in love with the topic she is teaching which helps. She gives great, interesting lecutures and is very helpful explaining the stories. I would take her again if I could!
I took her for both classes. Absolutely a wonderful professor. I can not say enough great things about her. She is great!
Awsome woman. Very intelligent, educated and a great sense of humour. Sharp tongue too, so don't ask stupid questions! Overall pleasure, especially if you are a fan of Literature.
The best english professor at suffolk! She was ALWAYS happy and has a good sense of humor. Doesn't overload you with work and grades more than fairl.
I didn't like her at all. She tells her students shes an easy grader and then gives everyone terrible grades. She doesn't properly explain herself but yet she still expects you to understand what she wants you to do. She thinks that only what she has to say is right and isn't open to other opinons.
Best professor I ever had.
I really like this teacher. She isn't a nice grader but she gives you plenty of opportunities for rewrites. I think she is one of the best english teachers. Free writes are fun.
she is definately the best teacher i have ever had. she is so passionate about what she teaches that she gets you into it, even if you hate the topic. i want to take all of her english classes. great, great teacher. i would highly recommend her.
Worst professor at Suffolk. Dont listen to what anyone else says becasue most students at Suffolk don't even know what they're talking about. Kranidis is far too opinionated and she plays favorites. She only likes you if you kiss up and agree with everything she says. Don't take this nut job!!!!
Great teacher, had her for eg11 and eg13, and i wouldnt want anybody else..work is pretty easy, have to read a lot tho..but shes a great teacher, and she likes to talk about a lot of different things
Terrible, she contradicts everything she says. She is very wishy-washy. Do not recommend her at all!
this professor is my all time favorite. she's not only very intelligent, but she lives to share it. she gets a joy out of her classes involvement. i almost wanted to fail the class just to have her again. try to get her if you can. easy to fall inlove with.
she taught the class very well.
I found her annoying, take this class if your a social creature. Shes very into "Group work".
I had this professor for EG11. I thought she was great, she's very into what she was teaching, and she helps you understand. I thought she graded fair. I got good grades, if you do your work then you will have no problem. I recommended her.
The class was not organized and by the end of the semester we were rushing to finish the remaining novels. Her opinions were strong, and she is not very open to opinions she does not agree with. I do not dislike her, but just not the professor of choice for me.
took summer class with her.. lectures are very interesting, never boring. work is not too much nor too hard. however she is very opinionated and at times stubborn. fair grader. good professor, just not a repeat for me because she was too opinionated.
She was a very good professor. she doesnt require alot of work and as long as you do as she ask you will pass the class. Her class's were never boring and she is very nice and helpful. I would say take her class if it is open
I did not know that I signed up for a debate class with a very opinated B****. Now that I do not that I wish I dropped the class when I had the chance. Plus it's a lit. class and all she talks about is History. She makes u do all the readings for hw in the worst book ever created with like 50 pages a night to rd. I do not recemend her for EG59.
In the beginning of the semester i hated this teacher because she attempted to shove her opinions down your throat but after a few weeks i got used to it and she sort of let it go, But besides that there isnt that much work, a paper every 2 weeks, in the beginning there was hw but near the end there really wasnt
Her enthusiasm for this class is contagious. I am now interested in Literature.
Prof. Kranidis is incredibly, she is inspired, intelligent and helpful. i recommend this class for anyone who is open minded enough to learn something new. This class is interesting and she brings so many different opinions to the table the anyone who is willing to learn something new...I would highly recommend her to anyone.
Great teacher, very nice. Intelligent. Sometimes is unclear about dates for projects and essays to be handed in, she changes the dates at the drop of a hat. A LOT of reading, a novel and a bunch of stories. She is a great teacher though with a lot of knowledge to share. Being in her class was great. I recommend her she is funny and makes class fun!
Professor Kranidis is hilarious! She is a amazing teacher who makes class fun and educational! Though she may overdose on homework she pushes you to be your best. She allows room for creativity. She is focused on helping students reach their full potential and is honest. If you don't appreciate honesty dont tak her. I highly recommend her though!
My advice is to take any class that she is teaching. She loves to talk, so you will have all the chances in the world to understand what is expected of you. She is passionate about her work and otherwise a beautiful human being. Can you tell I got an A in her class. All jokes aside, Kranidis is one of the best professors that I've ever had!!!
very enthusiastic
She does not in any way have a lot of homework. I took two classes with her and they were great.
I have never seen anyone have as much passion as Prof. Kranidis. She loves what she teaches and her passion spreads to her students. She is very funny so the class was never boring. Great woman in life and as a teacher. I would take every English class with her if I could.
i looooove this woman. shes so passionate about her work and it really shows. shes very funny, real and down to earth with her students too. never be littles anyone.. i love her. i wish i would have knew about her sooner i would have taken more of my english classes with her! take her.. i highly reccomend it. you wont be dissapointed. :)
She is awesome, you will never have a hard time understanding her. She knows how to draw her students in. She doesn't try to be cool, she is cool. You will love her.
All you have to do is participate during class, voice your opinions and she will give you an A. Also, she used to own a restaurant so you can talk to her about that
What a teacher should be. Extremely down to earth and hysterical. Work seems hard at first but it gets easier. She just wants everyone to be all they can. Will never take an english class that isn't taught by her.
shes a very nice lady, very funny! and soo cool!! just very very confusing!!
her rating does not do her justice! she's an amazing teacher and such an interesting person. i start losing focus in almost every class and im not kidding when i say this is the FIRST class where i have paid attention to everything the proffesor has said! its hard not to listen! shes one of my favs for SURE
Incredible professor. Very interesting, great personality, funny, but god damn is she confusing. Her notes on the board are written in Japanese (terrible hand writing) and you'll never know what she wrote on your papers, but she's very honest and helpful. Funny woman.
great teacher really knows what shes talking about, extremely helpful will stay late come in early and work with you to help a great class and she makes it fun.
anyone who doesn't like Ms. K is a dolt. She is a nice funny woman with a tremendous personality. Her class is easy so long as you pay attention and that hardly a hard thing to do. Best for EG11, EG13.
Awesome teacher!! shes sooo funny and she really helps you out!
I want to become a teacher because of this woman. She draws you in with her passion for the subject and so long as you show up, can defend your arguements in essay or class discussion, you will pass.
professor kranidis is absolutley amazing! she has so much passion for what she is teaching and really makes you think outside the box. not once in her class was i ever bored, she keeps things moving and interesting, she made me want to listen to her when she spoke about the different readings we did. i would recommend her to anyone!
She is a good professor who will make you laugh and gives do-able homework. Her tests are easy if you study well. I'm sure you will like her if you take EG13, i know i did.
Without question the best teacher I have ever had. I am studying to be an English teacher and after taking her class am only re-affirmed in my decision. She is passionate about what she does and the class flies by. I plan on taking any other class she teaches!
professor kranidis is amazing!!! i had her two semesters in a row and im taking her again for a third semester i love her. she is soo cool and you dont get graded on papers but you do get them reviewed. definately my favorite!
greek goddess! she was an awesome teacher , def take her class
Have never met an English professor more passionate about her field than this one. You'll do a lot of reading, and sometimes the handouts are a little vague but if you pay attention and do the readings, you'll do great. DO NOT be scared to ask her questions or have her proof your papers, it's the difference between an A and a B. HIGHLY recommended!
Had her for a summer class and became my favorite class very quickly. Recommended.
by far the best teacher at suffolk. shes extremely helpful and goes above and beyond for her students. do the homework and assignments and she'll help you get the best grade possible. plus she lets you grade yourselves based on a rubric. she made me appreciate english and she's really funny. i highly reccomend her to anyone
i love this teacher she is so funny and actually cares. she explains all the stories in class and answers every question. her tests are all short answer and essay but they're all from the handouts she gives in class. i'm taking another english class with her in the spring because i actually enjoy her!
I love this class, i'm taking it now. HOWEVER, it'd make my life a whole lot easier if she was the only class I had this semester. Despite her class being full of energy, she's extremely unclear on the papers towards the end. Also gets confused when asking a simple question bc she concentrate more on details. TIP: Stay after class if you're unsure.
BEST TEACHER!!! Never have i ever had a teacher like her. She maybe very easy but its only because you enjoy her class so much that she sucks you in and everything because fun. TAKE any of her classes and you will pass if you put in atlest some effort. She looks for your effort by answering questions and puting your thought on what was read.
She is one of the greatest teachers ive ever had! She clear and to the point, she is histerical, and she will help you at any time. I had fun always listening to her stories about her life and her daughter. I took a 3 hour night class on Thursdays with her and it felt like i flew by. She is an amazing teacher!
she just learned how to spell hello correctly. she also accused me of plagiaism when she didnt even grade my paper yet. there were many of mistakes and she is very rude!
Had prof. kranidis 3 times in 010, 101, and 102, and absolutely love her, i have improved a crazy amount in her classes, just do the work and pay attention and you will with out a doubt excel in her classes!
I love this teacher, she is great. Her personality is awesome and she makes coming to class enjoyable. I highly recommend her.
loved her. if i know she was such a great teacher, i would of taken her for my other eng class. her stories were amazing, she helped relate the stories in a way that i could understand better, and overall a great teacher and o so nice. wasnt a fan of eng/reading per her class, know i enjoy it very much. TAKE HER, TAKE HER, TAKE HER ALREADY!!!!!
DO NOT TAKE HER ONLINE CLASS! She is absolutely terrible! She is so vague with her instructions on papers and just about everything else! She told us we had our first paper due the day before it was due! When you Email her she makes you feel like an idiot too. She may be good in person but online she's horrendous and so unorganized.
Great Lady! didn't think i needed her class to start off the semester but she tuned my writing in such a positive way. not many assignments but you have to do them close to perfect. Best thing about her she treats you like an adult and does not baby any of her students. textbook only used at home
I love this teacher, she is great. Her personality is awesome and she makes coming to class enjoyable. I highly recommend her, if I could've I definitely would've taken her for English 102
Readings each week. Journals to write, questions to answer for each reading. 3 major essays, one major paper. Told to follow syllabus but sometimes skipped around. Sometimes not clear on directions or expectations. Self evaluations for grades. No tests. Free style of teaching and evaluations
Shes down to earth and a pretty fair grader. She also allows rewrites on the papers, which I thought was pretty cool. The only thing that kinda bugged me about her is that shes very unorganized and WAY too opinionated for my liking. But shes not mean and really shouldn't give you a bad grade as long as you do the work.
prof kranidis is wonderful. i agree that she doesn't provide the organized, structural approach, but that's exactly what literature isn't. i personally realized how uncomfortable it can be to think outside the box, but how much i'm missing when i'm not doing it. didn't learn anything good about myself, but i learned a lot about literature!
She is probably one of the most unclear teachers I think I have ever dealt with , but you can use this to your advantage. She gives a syllabus that she doesn't really stick to, so the lack of clarity allows students to write papers on pretty much anything they want. Literature may not be organized, but class should be, and so should your teacher.
She is BRILLIANT!She has a very down to earth way of teaching and she opened my eyes to lit, since I was dreading it! Every class was exciting and never a dull moment. There's a lot of reading but its Lit, what do expect? Wish I could take another class w/her Do yourself a favor and come into her class with an open mind and you will not regret it!
Professor Kranidis had great insight into the literature; but other than that the class was really frustrating. She was scattered, didn't stick to the syllabus, and did not have much tact. At the end of the semester, she expected us to decide what grade we deserved...
Took her online class. She stayed with the syllabus. All dates for papers given right from the start. Questions given for every reading. No tests. One 3-page paper and one 5-page paper. The class is mostly discussion with classmates and she adds great insight to discussions. Very helpful and answers emails almost immediately. I highly recommend her
Best professor I've had!
I LOVE her! She is the nicest person ever and I'm taking another with her next year. She makes you think and her tests are easy because she goes over EVERYTHING! Conversations are great and really makes you think. Best professor you won't regret taking her I promise. You won't want to miss her class.
I am currently taking Professor Kranidis online. She actually has gotten into an online altercation with a student. She is very opinionated woman and she expects you to side with her opinions at time. Her work is very broad and the workload is light. No tests, the class was fair but she can use some etiquette classes!
She is an amazing teacher and I took 3 english classes with her. She always made the class laugh and she is opinionated so dont get on her bad side. She let me fight for the grade i wanted and gave it to me. If you need help just ask her she loves to help. Alot of essay's but no big deal. The BEST english teacher ever!
she was funny and she was slow at teaching so if someone didnt understand she would explain it better...she was also very nice..wish i had again for another english course
She was awesome. One of the best professors at Suffolk.
The work is quite clear but she is extremely opinionated. If you don't agree with what she thinks is a correct interpretation your grade will reflect that.
Online D2L Was very time consuming. You have to participate more than what she asks for.Be prepared to feel stupid when she feels your interpretion wasn't what she was looking for and gives you a low grade. She never responded to my emails.Tried my very best on my posts(paragraphs) & only pulled a B+.
Maria is FANTASTIC! She is so passionate about her job and her love for literature. She is outgoing, funny, and makes the class exciting! Take her and you will be satisfied. All you have to do is read, take some quizzes based on the reading, write essays (which are no big deal), and enjoy the class.
AMAZING! she is very passionate about what she teaches. willing to meet and help as much as needed. She made me want to pursue more of her elective courses!
DO NOT TAKE ONLINE! Everyone's positive comments seems to be those students who took her campus classes, but online it is a complete disaster. She's giving everyone horrible grades and doesn't even explain to you why you deserved the grades you got.
Best English professor i have ever had, loved her opinions and her course. Wish i had her for more than one semester. Easy A if you just listen to her in class and take light notes. Very interesting class and she's helpful with the work if you don't understand it
The material is relatively easy, she provides all the information needed to pass with a good grade but if you want an intro class with diversity I wouldn't take her. All she talked about it feminism in every piece we read and if it wasn't feminism it was Af. Am. Literature. she has her own class for that and should keep it there. Other wise easy A
Probably my favorite teacher at SCCC. Her class was very interesting and she is very knowledgeable in many different subjects. She is absolutely hysterical and I enjoyed every single class with her. She makes the class easy by keeping you interested and giving informative review sheets for upcoming quizzes. I highly recommend her as a professor.
Let me just say this woman is the most compassionate woman I have ever met and will literally sit down with you and make sure you learn everything she is teaching! Heart of gold and mouth of a sailor! UGH LOVED HER! took her 2 years ago and i'm still in contact with her!
I took her class online. The amount of work in the class is not bad at all. Its just that she expects more than what she lays out in the syllabus as far as discussion posts. She grades extremely harsh on the two papers you write for the class, and she is very unclear on what those papers actually are.
Took this class on-line and received an A. Participation is mandatory when responding to others students work. Information for the two papers was a bit unclear, but emailed the teacher and she responded almost immediately with helpful hints to follow. Very sweet and caring Professor who want all of her students to do well.
Best lectures I have ever had the privilege of listening to! This professor is absolutely amazing and intelligent. She is inspirational and will motivate you to go the extra mile. Would take again in a second.
Had her for Short Stories.. Very funny professor, she knows a lot about analyzing stories and the meanings behind different symbols within it. I would definitely recommend her to ALL students!
It was unclear what was expected from us when we were given assignments and the vague feedback was unhelpful. Very brusque online teaching manner.
Her class was a pleasure to take. Essays were easy, but had to keep revising the final one (3 times)- which was used as the final exam for the class. Is very passionate about literature and all the works she assigns the class. When she describes almost any book you are going to go over in class, expect her to give her trademark "I LOVED IT" comment
Professor Kranidis is the best. Take her! I hate English classes but she made it enjoyable. Kranidis reviews before the Midterm and final which is good. There were two papers total. The essay we wrote on the midterm was turned into our first paper (text analysis). She grades that and we turn that into a research paper. Take her if you can.
I LOVED LOVED LOVED HER! Very clear very helpful. Always willing to help students.
Great teacher, gives extra credit & willing to work with you provided you put in the effort. Gives great historical context. A very well read and well educated individual with a lot of insight on her topics.
Took ENG102 with her a couple of summers ago and have great memories of that class. Prof. Kranidis has such a passion for literature that it will rub off on you even if you're not that into the subject. Somehow she managed to get the entire class motivated and talking about the different pieces we read. Very nice, funny, down to earth and helpful.
Kranidis is a brilliant Professor! Unlike the other Professors at Suffolk she actually loves her job and that's clear to see the minute she starts speaking. Also she's not confusing. If you're taking an upper level class Expect upper level work! Stop acting like kids who needs a teacher to hold their hand and walk them through basic directions.
I would not recommend taking her class if you have a lot on your plate. She gives A LOT of work and wants you online more then expected. She gives feedback that doesn't make sense. Also, she wants the work done before the due date so she can respond. So in reality you have a shorter time to complete it all. If you can manage your time, go for it.
Online based english class. Assignments were clear. Weekly discussions along with two 3-5 page essays. Essays slightly confusing, but professor will clear up a any questions you have. PLEASE REMEMBER THIS IS AN ONLINE ENGLISH CLASS. Proper grammar and spelling is necessary. Follow the syllabus and do the work, Easy A.
Maria Kranidis was my favorite professor I have ever had at Suffolk. I had her one semester ago and I'm taking her developmental writing class next semester, just because she's teaching it. She is such an intelligent person, but she is also raw and real and understands students are people too. There aren't enough good things I can say about her!
Loved this prof! Lectures were amazing
The work was pretty straight forward but she expects you to be online 4 times each week. One takes an online class for flexibility and she does not allow that. She wants the work submitted before the due date do she can respond otherwise it effects your grade, not tremendously, but still she expects too much for an online class. Not recommended.
Very nice woman, helpful and knows her stuff. Would definitely recommend her to anyone. She gives extra credit opportunities, easy quizzes and one paper which you edit over the course timeline. Super funny too.
Truly an amazing English prof. A lot of short stories to read but the quizzes are super easy and they're good read. Offers extra credit. She's very passionate, you can tell she loves her job and she is very funny!
Took online class with her. I would never recommend taking this class with her. Grades horribly and very low, gives negative feedback only and doesn't explain the instructions for the two papers at all. Too much work for an online class. Chose another professor.
One of my favorite teachers of all time! Her style of teaching, the passion she has is incredible. I can't relate to any of the comments people posted about her online class because actually being in her class and learning so much was an honor. It's not that she's a tough grader but it's because she wants you to reach your highest potential!
She's really funny and is really into what she teaches. You do have a lot of reading but it's mostly short stories which aren't bad and some are actually interesting. She goes off topic a bunch but teaches you what you need to know. She literally gives you the answer to every question on the test as review. Just show up and participate.
This woman was the best professor I have ever had! She knows what she is talking about. Gives a lot of great information. 5 Quiz's, drops the lowest quiz grade. After each short story gives a question sheet everyone answers in class together. Midterm and final 20 short answers and an essay. Gives extra credit!. TAKE HER CLASS!
Fantastic professor. Enthusiastic and friendly. Participate, show up, take notes and do the reading and you will pass. Paper is the easiest english paper so long as you do it, so if you blow at writing I highly recommend Krandis. (all her readings can be found online, don't buy the textbook!)
This was not a hard class, Not clear feedback on discussions and assignments. The assignments were interesting but the feedback was uninspiring.
All you have to do is read a few short stories, then you guys watch a movie and read some poetry. There's only one paper due and five quizzes. She preps you for the quiz and uses the same reading questions for them. She also preps you for the midterm- super easy. Just go to class, not to strict on lateness either.
Loved this professor. She gives really easy quizzes and goes over the answers the class before. you have to read short stories. not hard at all. you need to have good attendance. she is available before class and is very helpful. would def take her again. she is very knowledgeable and a great professor.
One can't simply describe the amount of knowledge gained in her class. It's truly inspirational to attend her lectures.
She was funny and very knowledgeable and her stories were interesting but by the end of the semester it got tiring of how amazing she is me,me and I find Im a pretty decent writer and a lot of students in my class felt her grading and sarcastic comments on our research paper was a little uncalled for. She expects way too much for Intro to Lit
The most amazing english teacher i have had at suffolk. She is always at her office hours for help. You read short stories for first half which are easy. She then goes over each story and write down what she says it helps. Second half was about The Great Gatsby and she has movie on in class.
I took her class online. She gives 0 feedback and makes so many typos. She doesn't give any insight into the stories, and when she does it's half sentences that make no sense. If your looking to learn run! If you want an easy A and can manage your time well stay (she doesn't remind you of deadlines) 2 essays and q&a discussion boards of each story
If you are debating on whether or not to take her, this is a sign to take it. Not only has she re-sparked my love for English, but also just made me appreciate life more. Her lectures were funny, educational, and helpful. An absolutely wonderful teacher who is willing to help you no matter what. Just read the short stories, pay attention, & show up
So funny, caring, and supportive. One of my all time favorite professors. Never cared about English until I took her class. For the first time in my life I was interested in an English class.
I took ENG102 online and found myself often confused at my grades. Prof. Kranidis does not give any feedback on the discussion posts and is a very harsh grader. The material itself is easy and the work load is fairly light but prepare to get inconsistent grades without knowing where correction is needed.
Prof. Kranidis is one of my favorite professors Ive had. She goes out of her way to make sure you do well in the class and rarely fails anyone. She made coming to class fun and enjoyable everyday. As long as you put in the work and effort, youll do well in her class. I highly suggest taking any course with her, it was the best decision I made.
If your contiplating on who to choose as a professor look no futher you have stumbled across the best, as long as your not disrespectful having this professor will leave you with an increased knowledge, joy, and the eagerness to learn.
Horrible, do not take for online , trust me.
Does not give feedback. I paid 800 dollars for her to mess up my GPA . She takes off points and does not tell you the reason. She is the worst grader ever/ DO NOT TAKE HER ONLINE CLASS IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR GPA PERIOD!
Shes very passionate on her lectures which makes them more interesting. Shes extremely knowledgeable and you leave the class very inspired. She cares about her students and wants them to do great not only in class but in life.
I took her online class. Ok at best she really does not explain anything well. She is a nice person but doesn't ask for what she wants to see in the discussion. I cited things got a 8/10. I didn't sight anything for one discussions got a 9/10. Never a 10/10. She gives bias ratings if you do not agree with her answers. Nice person but bad prof.
Professor Kranidis knows students have much more than her class and respects communication. If you have some sort of issue she is easy to reach and open to working with you. In addition, as long as you do the reading, which is both short and interesting and participate, you will do well. Highly recommend taking this course.
Professor Maria Kranidis is a great professor, I was very unsteady with the idea of switching into remote learning during the pandemic. This was my first online course ever and my second semester in college overall. It was the perfect class to take for a summer online course. The stories she picked out were usually always interesting.
Prof Kranidis made my remote experience much more easier, she had occasional (non mandatory) zoom meetings , she used this opportunity to answer any questions we had about the course it was a place where you see your classmates and put a face to the names, she is very active on the weekly discussion boards , overall very pleasant experience.
Professor Kranidis was an excellent professor. Her knowledge of literature and its history is pretty amazing. This was an online class and we had discussion board questions to answer online each week. We read one main book (The Great Gatsby) and several short stories. Answer the questions each week and discuss them with others, and you'll get an A
When I read these reviews and then took the class I was blown away. this woman is god awful she only wants things HER way and if its not done SPECIFICALLY her way you lose points. She told us we were doing great Gatsby but we did 2 short things on it the rest were these weird hard to decipher messed up stories and shes just as messed up as them.
Not a terrible prof but the lectures are pretty boring and somewhat hard to follow. The textbook has all the stories in it but you can find most online. Discussions on blackboard, submit your answers and reply to 2-3 others posts. There's an essay and you get to choose which story to write it on, then a revised essay due at the end of the semester.
Lectures were interesting and most of the times were based on the background of the stories which helped to understand them better. It's an easy A as long as you read the material and respond to other classmates which was due every two weeks.
I took this class during Covid so it was all online. The class itself wasn't hard, she just wasn't a good professor. The work load is easy but she's a tough grader. She expects A LOT of details in the discussion posts. When I asked for feedback as to why I got the grade I did on either the discussions or the essays I never got a direct answer
I like the format of doing discussions and two papers for the class. However, I am unhappy and frustrated because I did everything asked for the discussions and still got 80s. She expects you to answer to them multiple days a week. Its hard for me bc I have other classes & work so to get points off for that is just annoying. don't take her.
Even with the uncertainties of 2021, Prof. Kranidis was available for all of her students. Because the course was fully online, the professor provided virtual and textual lectures. The papers were both a journey and a learning curve but were simple to create. I made plenty of mistakes and was allowed to join a virtual tutorial. She was a huge help.
Professor Kranidis is not an awful teacher but I would not say she is a good teacher. Maybe she is different in person but online she does not really communicate well. The homework discussion board assignments are not hard but her grading is extremely inconsistent and frustrating. Also, she gives very little/no feedback for homework and essays.
I had the privilege of taking short story with Professor Kranidis over zoom. She is very knowledgeable and her lectures are amazing! She is very caring and inspirational! Make sure to complete both essays and the weekly discussion boards on the short stories and you will do great! She also helps you to revise your essays before you submit them.
Exposed me to literature & authors I usually wouldn't have had the pleasure of even hearing about. If you differ in opinions she will push you to prove your perspective. Not in an argumentative/discouraging way. She doesn't want you to take everything for face value. She makes you dig deep & I appreciate her for her intent to get you to greatness.
I loved this professor I took her virtual class, she is easy on grading as long as you take time in your discussions and read and do your papers you will get an awesome grade, she is super fun I would take it again one of my favorite teachers, shes honest real and isnt too serious which I love, when teachers are too serious it becomes boring.
I really didnt learn much about English with this professor. I got a nasty email because I didnt get to put my sources down so I emailed them to still have them included. In the emails she didnt even use proper grammar, and she is an English teacher. Not exactly happy with this. Work was easy though
Maria Kranidis is a great teacher, she is so sweet and empathetic to her students and relates to them a lot. Her stories in class are very interesting and entertaining I just really wish I could have had her for an in person class because everything she says correlates so well with what the current weeks homework assignment is. I really recommend!
Loved the class, Professor and readings. It was very straightforward. Great feed back given. She was always available for questions and responded immediately. Grades were posted in a timely manner.
I see these few negative comments and just think these students must think they know better than a dr lol its pretty funny, or they just dont like to work or dont like classes that arent easy As! Dr Kranidis will challenge you, if you dont like challenge's or expanding your analytical mind. Then oh well. Shes amazing, I had four classes w her.
Professor Maria Kranidis is an excellent Professor. Her passion and knowledge on the history of the Authors and Short Stories are absolutely impeccable. Her style of teaching is absolutely inspirational and her lectures are interesting. The compassion she has towards her work and students is indescribable. A rare Professor you will come across!
Professor Kranidis was an amazing teacher. She is very understanding, and she makes the lectures fun and engaging. She is someone i will be looking to take more classes with soon. She really wants you to do well, and she is willing to work with you on whatever you need. Highly recommend her!
Very engaging lectures, only 2 papers which she grades fairly leniently. All-round very enjoyable
A textbook on her syllabus but you can get all the short stories online and print them out. She tells good stories and is pretty funny. Gives out random extra credit throughout the semester. Grades leniently. Considers class input when making decisions. I didn't dread this class which helps a lot when trying to get through the semester.
Modules every like 10-14 days easy reads and simple questions. If you have other classes to worry about but need this credit take this professors.
Professor Kranidis was an amazing and passionate professor. She truly made me excited to come to class and talk about what we read. She was engaging with everyone, and was always open to hearing others opinions. Finally, she truly cared how her students did in her class. The textbook is not needed, all of the stories we read were available online.
Overall pretty easy. Book not required. However, she does give a lot of papers(English Professor Duh..) that mostly talk about your life and you don't need to cite anything until the final paper. Every week there's a small reading and two questions, it takes less than 20 mins to do it.
Professor Kranidis is very sweet and cares about her students. she has a heavy accent and sloppy handwriting which makes it hard to understand her. prepare for a lot of work. every story has questions and are confusing. the book you read in the class is amazing and some of the short stories too. if ur willing to put in the work go for it.
Professor Kranidis want's your own thoughts, but when you give them, they aren't good enough for her. The questions for the discussions don't make any sense. Her grammar is always incorrect, and is very confusing to understand. You email her and get not the response you want.
Professor Kranidis is kind and direct to the point. Lots of reading and books is required. She let you use outside sources on the assignments which is fair. Just do all your assignments and discussion you'll be fine. She respond quickly if you have questions.
Overall pretty fair, Book required. She does give a lot of papers. Every week there's a discussion with two stories you got to answer 3-5 questions per story.
If she doesnt like what you wrote or think its deep enough you'll get a low grade."Do 75% of your work on time" means 75% or more on all assignments for a C.Participation is not a separate % included in discussion grades (the effort she thinks you put in your response) If you have a choice pick someone else she thinks everyone wants to be a writer.
this was an easy class to be honest but the professor was my issue. during presentations she would constantly inturrupt and go on tangents just to cut you off because "you took to long". her lectures were the same way she went on meaningless tangents that had nothing to do with the topics and it put me to sleep. her test questions were also unclear
DO NOT TAKE HER ONLINE! She has clear grading criteria but doesn't even follow them. She says a minimum of 3 replies per discussion, but she really wants 5 replies. Even then, she won't give full points and will give 96s or 94s. Wants you to do 1 reply daily or will take points off. The least flexible online class by far, which is ridiculous.
Absolutely loved her class. She has an amazing way of analyzing texts, and she always gives us something good to read. Most of the class is based on participation with 2 essays and a few tests and group project. Her class is highly enjoyable and shes super sweet and hillarious.
Professor Kranidis gives great feedback and she is very direct but as long as you participate and put efforts you will be okay. Her reading assignments are great.
I took her eng 101 class and all I have to say is that she's a good professor.... she does five papers, weekly discussion posts, reading assignments. For her class you don't need any textbooks and if you email her with questions she will respond right away. she does give good feedback as well. Got an A in her class.
Do not take her online classes. She is extremely picky when it comes to discussion posts and responds asking vague questions that were clearly answered in your original post. She does not give any reminders about the 3 to 5 page paper, and does not put the date it is due on the assignments page, due dates are only on the syllabus so be careful.
Kranidis has a specific grading style, but staying engaged, reading the textbook, and using study aids like Unstuck ai can help you succeed. The workload is heavy, but the material is interesting if you put in the effort.
Kranidis was an amazing professor... her main assignments are two essays and reading based. She is genuinely such an amazing person, and will help you with any issues you have in the class. She makes lectures interesting, and because of her I gained a new perspective on life. I would recommend this class 10/10
I took Dr. Kranidis for ENG 101 and 102. She is an amazing professor and really cares about her students. In English 101 there are 4 papers which are not bad at all, 10 discussions which we did in class, and then a final portfolio where you just re-write two of your previous papers. It was a very easy class, and I would recommend her to anyone.
I took this class a few semesters ago. Since then, I have had a few professors who weren't that great so I felt inclined to leave this rating. Everything she says and writes on the board is important and WILL be on future quizzes. If you pay attention, participate, do your work, and take notes you will do great! She truly cares about her students.
I took her for two courses. She explains material clearly and keeps class engaging. She is approachable and responsive to communication, and she is fair about expectations. Overall, a very positive experience.
